‘Spiritual Warfare’: Throwback Video Of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson Explaining Editors’ Attempts To Remove ‘Jesus’ To Avoid Offending Muslims, Insert Fake Profanity In Show

A Sports Spectrum magazine interview with members of the Robertson family of the hit television show Duck Dynasty from April has resurfaced to make the Internet rounds. The interview, while dated, is worth watching for the insight Phil and Willie Robertson provide about the entertainment industry’s habit of going out if its way to mute Christian messages while attempting to avoid offending Muslims.

In the interview, the elder Robertson explained how the show’s producers inserted bleeps in an attempt to give viewers the impression that the reality stars were using profane language—but, according to Robertson, there was actually no swearing going on.

“They inserted fake bleeps…like somebody had used profanity, but no one had used profanity,” he said. “I asked the guys that produce the show…What’s the point of the fake bleeps?”

Robertson went on, “If we are not using profanity, why make it look like we are using profanity?”

Robertson also recounted how producers cut segments of the family’s prayers to remove the phrase “in Jesus’ name.” The television personality said that when he asked producers about the edit, he was informed that removing Jesus was a ploy to avoid offending Muslims.
