Spanish Man Seeks To Return Books Taken In Britain 25 Years Ago

CAMBRIDGE, England (UPI) — A Spanish man who took three books from his host family while studying English in Britain 25 years ago said he wants to return them to their owners.

Inaki Buenaposada said he took the books from a bag he thought was trash in his host family’s garage while he was a 16-year-old student in Cambridge, England, reported Monday.

Buenaposada said the woman of the house later became upset when she discovered the books were missing but he did not admit to taking them.

“I think it was because I wasn’t man enough to face up to her at the time and tell her I was guilty,” he said.

Buenaposada said he can’t remember the name of the couple who hosted him or their exact address, but he is visiting Cambridge and he wants to return the books, which include a copy of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.

“I want to return the books to the people I took them from, that is my only reason for coming,” he told The Cambridge News.
