OSAKA, Japan, Aug. 16 (UPI) — Police in Osaka, Japan, said the severed body parts of at least two people have been discovered in a pair of 5-gallon metal cans and two black plastic bags.
The first can, with a severed human leg inside, was found Sunday at a local park by a man who was cleaning up, The Yomiuri Shimbun reported Tuesday.
Witnesses said the can was left behind some shrubbery and its lid was sealed with green and blue adhesive tape.
Nearby, authorities found two plastic bags containing a human head and two right ankles.
A second can containing a left and right hand, a thigh bone and three shoulder bones was discovered on a street some 109 yards from the park site.
Authorities could not immediately determine the gender or age of the victims because of decomposition.
An investigation is under way, authorities said.
