Severe Flooding Can Destroy Property, Take Lives

January 25, 2011 by

Severe flooding can destroy property, take livesFloods have ravaged Australia over the past month, causing at least 20 deaths and billions of dollars worth of damage.

Heavy rains this past weekend forced government officials in the State of Queensland to urge more than 2 million residents to evacuate the city of Brisbane. According to media reports, Anna Bligh, Queensland's premier, said that five children were killed over the weekend.

Bligh called the disaster the state's "darkest hour." The devastation in Australia has prompted many Americans to evaluate their self-survival options in the event of mass flooding. During the last decade, there have been several reminders of the wreckage that can be caused by floods. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina left most of New Orleans under water and killed more than 1,000 residents.

According to One-Stop-Survival-Guide.com, people who are expecting a flood in their neighborhood should tune in to local radio or television stations for emergency advisories and instructions. In addition, residents should stock up on food, water and other essential supplies in the event of a natural disaster.

Once the flooding takes place, there are important survival tips to keep in mind. The website states that people should stay clear of water that is in contact with downed power lines, and if water has entered a garage or basement, it should be avoided because it may carry hazardous materials such as parasites, asbestos or human and animal waste.

Why do people build communities on the lower flood plain of rivers? So they can get flooded. Now lets build levees so when they break it gets worse! Katrina didnt cause the devastation in New Orleans, the stupid people that built it where it is caused it.

    • 45caliber

You are right. And the stupid mayor gave the $10 million a year the feds gave him to inspect the levees to some “contributors” who did exactly nothing to earn it. They certainly didn’t inspect the levees! But when they broke, it was the fault of the feds.

Hay when this was a new country all towns were buil by the river to get the much needed trade. The gov built all kinds of dams to stop flooding now they have morons running them who think it is more imporant to take care OF THE FISHERMAN and birds more so then man kind. This is not what the dams were build for. Look at all the big citys built on the river system.. Stuped gov again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder why we don’t hear more about this in the media? and nothing about parts of Java sinking 20 feet.

Australia had devastating fires in 2009 as did Russia. Now Australia has devastating floods. The extremes have become more poignant and seem to be moving across our globe at a more rapid pace. The area flooded in Australia is larger than the state of Texas. The flooding in Bangladesh and Pakistan has also been more severe.

      • Al Sieber

eddie, thanks for bringing up Pakistan, I forgot about that and heard very little on the news.

No doubt that there have been weather extremes, but it is mostly the work of HAARP the CIA weather control station in Alaska.

Weather disasters, share market and property collapses are all planned
to create devastation and social unrest leading to martial law in the US and other countries.
The new world order lunatics are behind it all

    Natural or man made?

Yes it was naturally made caused by man. Weather isn’t static and usually there is a 100 year weather abnomaly as well as a 500 and a 100 year. The f–king idoits that live in New Orleans live below waterlevel and depend on pumps and stay on sinking land. When warned a bad storm was coming, sat with their heads up their rears. I have lived through enough blizzards, tornados, and surprise floods, mother nature can change on a dime and idoits thinking they can control her are nuts. With flooding the last few years in eastern ND and SD, idoits trying to blame it on global warming. Back in the early 1900′s people could go over 50 miles in a canoe, even though water was only a foot or 18 inches deep. It lasted a few tears as did the droughtthat shows up now and then. Gallavastan was almost wiped out several decades ago. Idoits never learn, mother nature will kick your rear when you least expect it.

I agree with you. They used to talk about us blowing up the earth with nukes until Mt. St. Helens blew up. The calculated force of more than a hundred times what all the nukes put in the same spot and going off at once would have done.

To Mother Nature we are little more than fleas on a dog’s back. Too insignificant to even notice really. But there are people who are convinced that we humans make all the difference there is in the universe. And they are offended if you think or say differently.

      • Al Sieber

The earth has been going through changes since the beginning, mass extinction’s, pole shifts, etc. global warming is a farce to tax us more, and more control over our lives.
