Seven Dead In Karachi Violence

KARACHI, Pakistan, Aug. 21 (UPI) — The deaths of seven people, two of them children, have brought the number of dead by violence in Karachi to 87 in four days, Pakistani officials said.

The bodies of two young men were found stuffed in bags in MPR Colony in the town of Orangi, a Karachi suburb, Geo News reported Sunday.

Investigators said the boys were tortured before being shot.

At least some of the violence is tied to rival drug mafias, police in Karachi said.

Two of the latest victims were children, The Nation reported. The children were identified only as Sheharyar, 10, and Zeeshan, 15.

Officials said the body of one of Sunday’s victims was found under the Teenhatti Bridge. His identity — and the identities of most of the victims — wasn’t immediately known.

Police said another body was found in a gunnysack in Pak Colony. He was identified only as Rizwan; police said someone firing shots near Safari Park killed one person and injured two others.

Water Board official Khalid Siddiqui was shot and killed Saturday when unknown persons fired on his car. Another occupant of the car, Gulshan e-Hadeed, was seriously injured.
