Seniors, Don’t Break Your Bones!

April 24, 2009 by

Seniors, Don’t Break Your Bones!

You know the story. Old folks fall, break a bone, get pneumonia and then often die. But it shouldn’t be!

Researchers have demonstrated that if seniors take their calcium and magnesium plus daily doses of at least 1,000 units of vitamin D3, they can escape the above sequence. Give yourself three months to build up.

Please don’t worry about vitamin D3 overload. Many people in the know take 5,000 units daily. Health Canada recommends to Canadians an upper limit of 2,000 IUs of D3 daily.

Want to know the biochemistry of vitamin D3? Science teaches that only plants process photosynthesis, but people do, too. People manufacture nutrition (D3) from the sun. Of course, seniors mostly use D3 supplements to get the sun benefit.

But bone health is not nearly all. The risk of dying with cancer is far, far less with high doses of vitamin D3 daily. Studies have linked a shortage of D3 with such serious chronic ailments as multiple sclerosis, diabetes, heart disease, influenza, Alzheimers and schizophrenia.

Unknown to doctors, vitamin D3 is introducing a golden age in medicine—and natural medicine at that. But please don’t wait for your doctor—as he will be the last to know. By that time, you could be long gone.

Vitamin D3 is directly related to public health. Geography can damn millions to terminal illness. In northern latitudes there is less sunshine to make D3. But northern people can take D3 supplements.

Older ages absorb less, so they take more. Also, overweight people require more, as do all dark-skinned people. Vitamin D3 acts as a hormone in the body’s cells and packs a huge biological punch.

The Canadian Cancer Society became the first major organization in the world to embrace the idea of large-scale population-wide vitamin D3 supplementation to combat cancer.

One study, in the journal Circulation, found that those with low vitamin D3 had a 62 percent increased risk of heart failure. And adequate levels of D3 lowers the risk for colorectal cancer by 72 percent.

When the Canadian Cancer Society asked the American Cancer Society to join them in recommending more vitamin D3, it refused.

My prediction: The U.S. pharmaceuticals are hard at work to develop a vitamin D analog (drug). And when they do, the government will greatly restrict the potency of natural Vitamin D—or outlaw it altogether—with the ruse that vitamin D is a hormone, not a food.

The research is moving fast and the efficacy of vitamin D3 is overpowering. The U.S. medical establishment won’t allow it.

The same week that one of those awful bone building drugs (that don’t build healthy bone at all) was introduced, the media was all abuzz with warning articles about “the dangers of too much vitamin D”. Hmmmm ….. sad but true. The combination of Big Pharma and public officials addicted to their BRIBES gives us many such deceptions. Check out Codex that is set to take effect very soon….. Big Trouble. The FDA and the AMA are realizing that Americans are waking up and don’t want their toxic drugs any more and they’re worried about their incomes and their monoply on health care. Wake up America – they are trying to take away our choices!!

Thank you Mr. Bob for another excellent article about vitamin D3. Try to get some sunshine OUTDOOR from 9am-2pm(healthy rays of sun)- 15-20minutes for light skin, and 30minutes for darker skin. Take D3 supplements if lacking.

    Hi Bob,
I want to thank you for the info on Vitamin D. Is that the best thing for me to take at this point in my life. I am almost 53 years old and in 2007 I had to have two neck surgery’s and one shoulder surgey. They put a plate in my neck then for they told me I had bone loss. I now have had to go back and they want to put some kind of metal in my shoulder for they are telling me now that i have total bone deration in my shoulder and as they put it my bones are crumbling on me. I guess what i am asking is Vitamin D what i should take at this point or do i need something more. I am not sure if those bones can be saved anymore, but would like to stop the rest of my bones from that happening to. If you have any idea’s to help a women that her bones are totaly falling apart on that would be great to hear. I am at a loss at this point and having a hard time doing even small daily chours let alone trying to do my job for i have no strenth at all in my shoulder and it is slowing me down to the point i can hardly do anything anymore. PLEASE HELP! Thank you again for listening to my story.

I get over an hour of sun per day on over 80% of exposed body….73 and healthy as a goat! 45 years ago fell 40 feet and didn’t break a bone.

strong textWe retired in Alaska about 16 years ago, I can certainly feel the difference in all ways being with out the sun on a regular basis. About 8 to 9 months with little or no sun, I have know about vitamin D for some years as the sun was the source for this vitamin. I never saw it in pill form until a few months ago, Weil -Vitamin D1000 IU Micro-tabs. I started taking them. I go to the lower 48 and visit my family who all live around Az and Texas, spending several weeks there ,my body, my hair, skin, attitude all changes for the better.
I think for the most part good organic foods and and natural juices like blueberry and apple are good for your body in many ways.
I would stay clear of Fluoride in the water and I see they now sale this fluoride in water for babies..this is scary stuff. http://www.fluoridealert.org/
Another drug to stay away from is, Aspartame, Splenda, Sucralose, Saccharin, Stevia and more. These are in no way natural “Anything” they are a by product of fertilizer’s…thanks to Donald Rumsfield, who had huge financial interest in getting this artificial sweetners into everything humans consume.
The FDA is a political machine, it is not to be trusted, their interest is money and getting drugs out there, and forced on people when they can. They have no interest in humanity, period. For years I have been reading on foods and how they are handled now, I have not touched red meat in 24 years, if people watched what cows are feed, how they are killed and how the meat is handled, they would not eat it either. Its not the same as it was 30 years ago.
Well…not much is! Well…watch out, looks like things will only get worse with Obama and his Chicago thuds in office…you must voye all these politicians out of office, all democrates…change the house, the senate, and congress. We must take back America before they destroy this country. Census people are coming…tied in with Acorn, fill in how many are in your household and skip the rest…I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

      Isn’t Stevia okay, though?

There is an article written that says the FDA is overwhelmed and incompetent in some areas; drug approval, perhaps? My question is why are so there so many drugs that injure and kill people these days? Why is there so muuch incompetence in the medical/pharma industry? Are there lots of bad teachers in meds schools; bad students; is an MD political; can an MD be bought? The side effects of pharma drugs are so scarey that no reasonable person would touch these toxic meds.

  • Merl Elton

I agree that people in sunnier climates are often healthier. Women; however, get osteoporosis through genetics; after menopause, and from poor diet; too much milk, dairy, coffee, smoking, excess alcohol with the exception of some beers and wines; insufficent sleep; dieting to stay slim and attractive; too much or not enough exercise. We live in a macho culture that hurts women in many ways. Men are often healthier in old age because the macho culture favors them; although women often outlive men despite being not as healthy overall and having more disabling diseases like osteoporosis and arthritis.

The best health advice I ever got was in an article in Prevention Magazine 40 years or so ago. A British researcher found that taking 5,000 units of Vit. A, 400 of Vit. D, 1,200 mg calcium and “as close to 750 mg of magnesium as you can get” would guarantee good bone health. It must be true; I have followed that recipe since then, am 82 now and my bones look like they belong to a 20-something in Xrays.

    Terrylee and Anne,
Stevia is perfectly safe. You can even grow it yourself as a houseplant, then dry and powder the leaves. I tried Truvia, thinking it was the real thing as they stated in the ads. Not so! It tasted so chemical I couldn’t use it.

  • Jean

    Terrylee,
I think we, the people, should start a campaign to change the FDA. I believe the top echelons are hand-in-glove with Big Pharma. Many of them go on to sit on the boards of the pharmaceutical companies when they leave the FDA. The FDA has even hired paramilitary SWAT-like teams to break into the offices and homes of doctors who practice alternative medicine and confiscate their files, their computers, their medications, their tools, all at gunpoint! I read in a trustworthy newsletter that one doctor was on a California chain gang for curing patients with herbs. The governor was outraged and pardoned the doctor. I think it’s time we changed the focus of the FDA back to protecting us instead of protecting Big Pharma. Anybody with me?

  • Jean

    Merl,
The pharmaceutical companies sponsor big-name doctors who will spout and publish their propaganda. They also contribute huge amounts of money to medical schools and in return the schools preach the gospel according to Big Pharma, i.e., you can only “heal” with drugs. Did you know that doctors are put out of business (and some go to prison)for actually curing a patient without using drugs? Did you know that the “cure” rate for standard radiation and chemo cancer treatment is only 2%? Why should we let Big Pharma decide whether we live or die? We should be entitled to choose a doctor who can actually cure our illness and let the doctor control our treatment, rather than the drug reps. And just wait until Codex goes into effect in Europe. You will need a prescription to buy vitamins and the vitamins will be at the lowest level needed to sustain life. We (the US)will have to go along with it because we have trade treaties with Europe and will be excluded from trade if we don’t go along. Land of the free? Fageddaboutit!
