Scott Brown Crosses The Aisle To Advance Democratic Jobs Bill

February 26, 2010 by

Scott Brown crosses the aisle to advance Democratic jobs bill The $15 billion jobs bill that was kept alive on Monday by five republicans who crossed the aisle to support cloture, including newly elected Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.), passed in the Senate on Wednesday.

Brown and four other Republicans joined 57 Democrats in voting to block a GOP-led filibuster of the jobs bill, which was championed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

"I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families," said Brown, who represents the 41st Republican vote in the Senate.

"This jobs bill is not perfect … but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work," he added.

Brown also noted that he wished the tax cuts for businesses outlined in the bill were deeper and more expansive.

If passed, the bill will exempt businesses from Social Security payroll taxes if they hire the unemployed as well as give them another $1,000 tax credit if new workers remain on the job for a full year, according to Fox News.

I agree withScott Brown on voting on Jobs Bill. I am very tired of all the fighting in DC

    • John B

I agree Garry! It should be the American people first politics last.So many people are worried about their party and not the people

      • Joe H.

        John B.,
I don’t give a damn about the party, I want my COUNTRY to survive. That is all I care about as far as politics are concerned!!!

    • Arkham Grundy

Thank God that there is at least one senator who has the personal integrity to not be a slave to the party bosses. You may not agree with his position, but at least he voted his conscience and did not just blindly follow like an obstructionist sheep.

      • Michael J.

        Arkham,
Either that, or he was a RINO all along?

        • Claire

Michael J–Scoot Brown got what he wanted. He was elected and now he can and will do as he pleases.

          • Claire

            I meant “Scott” LOL

          • Claire

Hey, i think I like “Scoot.”

          • jim

            Hi Claire, SCOOT it is.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
I think Scoot fits him quite well as it described how he “scooted” across the aisle to the progressive side!!!

          • Claire

JoeH–Yes, he sure did “scoot” across the aisle! You know, I was glad he got elected but I still had a “funny feeling” about him. Now I know why. His mannerisms tells me he is on an ego trip–for himself. I must be tired, for I sure have made some typos recently.

          • cr747

He has been brain washed by the soon to be XX president Obummer.. Obummer will lie to anyone,, just like,, Pelosimino,, and Obummer’s pet sheep Joe Biden.. Such a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Arkham Grundy,

First, on the surface, a jobs bill sounds reasonable, but I’m skeptical about it’s overall value. I guess that means the businesses that take advantage of the $1,000 tax credit, will have to keep the employee for an entire year….even if the employee isn’t cuttin’ the mustard…; if not…does that mean they can cycle through several employees until they find the right one…utilizing the $1,000 tax credit each time? How many will have the patience to continue doing that? When that year is up…will we then be in the same or worse position than we’re currently in?

Secondly, and even more striking to me: Hmmmmm….funny how when Bush was following his conscience, you and others were singing a different tune. Funny how that happens, huh?

        Fed Up Gal
P.S. I’m on my way out, so short on time; I did not go back and spell check, etc….so if that bothers anyone….guess you’ll just have to get over it.

      • Liberty 4 All

I wonder if anyone really knew this Scott Brown. Being from Massachusetts, his background should’ve indicated that he was not a true Conservative. If we are lucky he will also not be a true Liberal.
Eventhough I, and probably most of our U.S. Citizens are against additional debt being added, our only recourse is to get those into leadership positions to follow the more agreeable path.

    • Warrior

Mindless! So Bush cuts taxes and therefore the states have to fill a void because they were so dependant on receiving their share of federal money back. The states grew their dependency by hiring more patronage and increasing pay and benefits to boot.
Now that their allowance was reduced, they decide to raise all sorts of state and local taxes to make up the difference. Feds mandate added programs to states and don’t pay for it. NONE of the culprits cut spending. Private business and taxpayers can’t support the spending so we borrow and print more to cover the shortfalls.

Who of sound mind could have conjured up this recipe? Out with all of them.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Excellent, Warrior!

        Fed Up Gal

      • Meteorlady

        Ditto – most excellent Warrior!

    • DaveH

The “Jobs Bill” is just a another stimulus package wrapped in pretty verbage.
They still haven’t spent 2/3 of the other stimulus bill that was such an emergency.
The Democrats are just building up a vote-buying slush fund. That is all.

      From Lew Rockwell:
It is true that democracy undermines freedom when voters believe they can live off of others’ productivity, when they modify the commandment: “Thou shalt not steal, except by majority vote.” The politics of plunder is no doubt destructive of both morality and the division of labor. But there is no law of historical decline that says that people cannot change their minds.

      • Joe H.

DaveH, if anybody is caught using ANY of this money for campaign funds the courts should see to it that they stay at the hotel with bars in every room!!!

        • usmadgirl

          Joe H,

You know that’s what they plan to do with it. Either that or to help fund their “Civilian National Security Force”. I have some other thoughts, but I don’t want to put up with the “progressive backlash” right now. I have a sinus head & neck ache & they’ll only make it worse!

          • DaveH

Don’t let the Liberals get to you, usmadgirl. If they were worth listening to, they wouldn’t need to launch all those personal attacks.

          • usmadgirl

            Thanks Dave H!

          • Joe H.

            USmadgirl,
I suggest a sink of real hot water with a good daub of vicks and a towel over your head and breath for your sinuses. As for the pain in the neck, a hot damp towel over the sholders and avoid progressives for at least 24 hours!!!!

    • Stan B

How many jobs did that phony bill give to MA, or any other state ????? The answer;NONE NONE NONE..Scott Brown is a big phony bag of wind, just like OBUUUUMMMMA is…..

  • MaryJane

Did I miss it or were not the names of the other 4 Benedict Arnolds mentioned in the article?

Come on…big surprise! A Republican from Massachusetts.. Anyone out there ever hear of a “wolf in sheeps’ clothing? These Dems are not the same as historic Democrats; these people are Progressive and that means they LIE; their motto being “the ends justify the means”. These are Marxists, Socialists, Nazis, anarchists, etc. All left and all”know” they are sooo much smarter than the rest of us.

Those who believe these people are STUPID (mng. not willing to learn). Listen to Bill Mahor call the Americans stupid as though he’s a genius.

I beg you to go back and read true history as well as Western Civilization. Read the Great Books, get a grip on what it means to be an American. You have the right and I daresay, the obligation to PURSUE your (own) happiness…in other words, row your own boat but leave the water calm enough so my boat does not capsize. This country was NOT built on the Cain/Able envy example but on the premise that “we are all created equal and endowed with INALIENABLE rights from God …immutable…never by man.

    • Bill

Amen sister. That was very well put and very true. Looks like the silent majority is the sleeping bear and we have been awaken. I am no genius, but I predicted this 40 years ago. You could see it coming. Our society is crumbling and I fear for our kids. This is not the country I had planned to leave to our kids. Keep the faith & God bless you and all like you.

    • John B

MaryJane. When the constituition was written were the American Indians included? Were the Black slaves included? This country should be for all people. You WEREN’T worried about illegals when you brought over the slave ships. You weren’t worried about illegals when the Chinese built you railroads. You full of it! You hide behind the Constitution to express your true feelings for anyone that doesn’t look like you

      • Joe H.

        John B.,
what you say is true in part. those times you speak of were at a time that this nation needed people to fill this great nation. Now we are bursting at the seams and we can not afford to continue to take in a flood of people daily and survive! I can tell you have never lost a job to illegals or been turned down for a job and find out illegals were busted a week later on the same job. It can’t continue. As far as slavery, it is in the past where it belongs and until you can let it lay you will never be complete!!

        • Ken

And you are not in a neighborhood terrorized by gangs of illegals who live by the drug trade and terror. And you are not in a neighborhood where every time you leave your house you come back to find it has been broken into and anything you worked hard to obtain has been stolen or vandalized because you don’t speak THEIR language and pay THEIR protection money. I am losing my family farm because of this and the law enforcement folks have pulled back to protecting enclaves of white, rich, “important” folks because they can’t match the firepower or manpower. I’m 57 years old trying to take care of my 88 year old mother-in-law and cannot live under this type of stress any longer. That Senator Brown took an expedient approach to garner some print space and failed to stand on the principles that government should be protecting the people and not taking from them just goes to show that there is no principle or integrity left ANYWHERE in the US except in the hearts of a few downtrodden who soon enough will be extinct.

      • Time

Johnboy, Lets see now I am getting old but not quite that old yet.
The sins of 200 years ago are not our sins.
The American people that includes Slaves, {and just for the record} Johnboy, there were White slave here way back when too. let alone today.

And you really should read more history about Slaves as well what that means.
Ever hear the term “indentured servitude?”
Well my boy read all about it. Got a mortgage on your home, how about your car?
Well my boy welcome to I S, now you get the picture.

And just so you get that picture a tad better, lets say you own your home, look over your deed, It states your a “TENANT” You don’t own anything. YOUR a SLAVE BUBBA. get it.

Now wake up from your sleep.

        • michael kirkby

Very well put. Every nation, religion and people have practiced slavery at one time or another. It’s interesting that the Jews were the first to discontinue the practice. I study history and no I don’t agree with the all the whining I hear from minorities. Did you ever notice that when you disagree with someone who isn’t white the first card that is played is the race card?
The colored folks should study history and realize that the Emancipation Proclamation never freed one slave. It merely freed them so General Grant could use them as cannon fodder. The blacks were not recognized in the North because of equality; they were freed so that business didn’t have to compete with cheap labor. It was protectionism for the white workers and their oweners. Who’s the slave there? does the Ballad of Richard Corey come to mind?
There are some very fine minds in other cultures and people from other countries have a lot to contribute. I have always believed that you hire the best person for the job regardless of sex, creed, religion or orientation. Why waste a good mind? That being said, personal axes should not be ground in the work place. However, if I go to their country I am expected to obey the laws of the land, and I expect the same in Canada or America.
The politutti just don’t get this do they? They play favorites and bend over to anyone who can get them votes, money and power, and screw the rest of us. I am neither a liberal or a conservative, but I believe there are ideas if well planned out whether they come from either side can benefit the whole entity. If Brown crossed the house to vote for a bill that he thought would help, more power to him. If he did it for the wrong reasons then he is nothing more than a shill for Barky and his gangsters.
What I see in North America today is a socialist plan at work to enslave free enterprise, and to remove the rights of individuals that began over ninety years ago. One could venture back to just after the American Revolution to find the seeds in Alexander Hamilton’s plan, and later Lincoln’s to introduce an oppressive central government coupled with a central banking system. All hail the Proletariat and god help you if you’re a robotniki.
I think Miss Bachman hit it on the head when she called the present regime a gangster government. That’s what Lenin and his kind were: gangsters funded by Rothschild money and protected by the same as they made their way into Russia on a guarded train with millions of dollars of the Bankster’s money to start the Russian Revolution in 1917. The nationalization of business and markets in North America today is exactly what Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin did back in 1919. Barky and his gangster pals are no different. NAFTA was the next step in the plan. Can you imagine what it is going to be like if they ram the NAU through? What’s next; concentration camps for those who disagree and speak out; any other undesireable? The entire system must be changed. If it is not, then even a current leader with the visionary statesmanship of Thomas Jefferson would be corrupted and the rest of us doomed to more of the same or even worse.
America is the last bastion against a centrallized one world government; one world banking system and currency; and a complete subjugation of individual rights and freedoms. Welcome to 1984?

      • Laura

What the founders also didn’t do, was write, “All men are created equal, except for the slaves, and the Indians, and anyone else we don’t like.” Their language included all.

      • Michael J.

        John B,
So what are you saying? Who in now day America would you prosecute for owning slaves? And in any such endeavor wouldn’t the African tribal leader’s who sold their own people into subserviance be equally responsible, if at all?

The Chinese were paid for their labor and were not alone, the Irish were right along side them building our nations future and neither group is complaining now about having worked hard.

Have you been to an Indian reservation lately? All the ones in my neck of the woods are doing quite well.

We are a nation of immigrants, that is our history. There needs to be however, a means of regulating the inflo of immigrants. That’s why we have laws protocoling the means of obtaining citizenship in a manner that protects all of us.

      • Jack

John B, check your spelling as YOU speak.

      • DaveH

Uh, John, She can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think MaryJane was alive when there was Black Slavery, or when the Chinese built the railroads. And neither of those two were illegal in those times. Of course, slavery should have been illegal, but you aren’t going to correct those historical errors in morality by enslaving us now.

        • Blue

A bit more information for John Boy.

First. I have to remind you that neither MaryJane nor you, I and anyone alive today, weren’t worried about illegals during the writing of the Constitution, since none of us existed at the time. We ARE concerned about TODAY’S illegals though.

Second. You scoff at the Constitution and insinuate that it is not for all people. You need to read it.

To see a copy of it, go to the Neal Boortz web site (Host of the Neal Boortz Radio Talk Show) and click on the tab for “The Constitution of the United States”.

I believe the following clause is enough to satisfy “Equality”:

Article IV, Section 2, Clause 1: The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves well over a hundred years ago. Both the American Indians and the Blacks, along with other nationalities, are citizens with voting rights.

Let’s stop talking foolishly, just to be heard. Do your research.

Note: Isn’t it amazing that this one document, which is, I believe, one page long, an entire nation exists and functions by it. Yet, we have “Health Care Bills”, which should be no more than 40 pages long, are over 2000 pages. Is there something wrong there?

          • Joe H.

Blue, nah nothing wrong, they just aren’t as smart as those barely educated dirty hunters, farmers, and statesmen that helped write it and they aren’t as bold as they were to go against the grain of the rich and powerful!!!!

          • cr747

            Blue,,
You remember the statement he made about the American people,”We Grab Our Gun and Cling To Our Religion.. How arrogant can he be..

We as Americans are the laugh of the World.. Such shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Meteorlady

John – would the “slaves” be any better off if we had left them in their own country – like Somalia, Angola, etc? We have given breaks to minorities to the detriment of others for a long time. While I agree that we treated the Indians badly, I don’t agree that they are not citizens of this country. People that live here, were born and raised here, are citizens. Keeping us separate is a good liberal trick to keep up the pretense that most Americans had something to do with keeping slaves or breaking treaties with Indians. We have dedicated schools, invested hugh amounts of money for their health cares, created social programs and educational benefits to lift them out of poverty. So I have totally missed your point about slaves and indians since my family never had anything to do with either of these classes and they most certainly are members of this country and are protected by our Constitution.

1 THING YOU DIDN’T MENTION THEY DO NOTHING FOR THE PEOPLE THEY ARE ELECTED TO REPRESENT,THEY ARE VERY GOOD TALKERS AND SCEAMERS BUT FOR THE LIBERALS(COMMIES)TO FIX THE PROBLEM ,THEN THEY WOULD HAVE NOTHING AND NO ONE TO BLAME

    • J.M.R.

right on maryjane once again we were lied to by a dem saying they are a repub, lets only settle for a half bill rather than having a right bill

    • Phil

Mary… If you can do it without instructions , look up ” progressive” in the dictionary… It doesn’t say lie or liar… In fact the liars were all in the Republican party and in Bushs administration… It would take me allday to list the lies he told…. But you can start with Iraq and end with the economy…would ( go shopping, the economys strong and growing).. Would that be a lie?..or, we don’t torture…would that be a lie….why don’t you google.. Lies told by the Bush administration….theirs not a major issue including healthcare that Bush didn’t just shove off on president Obama.. The only thing Bush and Cheney cared about was Iraq… That’s it..and don’t even try to blame the 2006 democrats… They past no bills that effected our economy…and Bush had veto power… They were allowed to pass nothing… In fact they were called the Do nothing Congress by Republicans for passing no bills….this is a republican recession and the jobs losses still to yhis day are a result of republican tax cuts to the top 2% and deregulation…and if republicans got the whitehouse and congress back they would go right back to the same policys that got us here… Deregulation and you paying taxes instead of them…

      • Laura

Oh my…you really shouldn’t bring up someone else’s perceived lack of intelligence. Not with a reply like that. Do you really think lying started in the Bush administration? Or that all prior Presidents finished up all of their agendas before leaving office? Democrats, repulicans alike! I am so tired of hearing about what was left by Bush. 9/11 happened during the Bush administration–don’t you think that cost anything? Do you khow how much money is being spent on the survivors from 9/11? Hurricane Katrina also happened during the Bush administration…how much do you think that cost? How many survivors blame the Federal government for not paying them enough? Did you hear the one about the Clinton administration’s tie to the current housing repo situation??

      • Michael J.

        Phil,
I did what you said. Is this what you mean?
Progressive definition: Proceeding in steps; continuing steadily by increments: progressive change. 3. Promoting or favoring progress toward Socialist conditions or Marxist policies, …

Why is it that every time you Messiah worshipers get backed into a corner you attack Bush? Bush was not perfect but he did keep us safe while in office by restoring dignity to the office of the Presidency, fighting terror wherever it existed. Bringing the office back from the brink as a result of his predessesor’s perverted use of his position to weaken us in the eyes of our enemies around the world by indulging in things like Monica and cigars that he never smoked. And who could forget, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” speaking about lies. Turning the White house into a brothel with his wrong headed thinking (Pun intended). Then there was Jennifer Flowers and more that I cannot remember at the moment, “I didn’t inhale” and “It depends on what your definition of “is”, is” etc., etc. And that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

And then there’s the the present faux POTUS, which I’m not even going to try to list because it would make my finger’s bleed and crash Bob’s server.

Next item, Toture. Saddam Hussein, who by the way shares a name with the Kenyan Konjurer, would laugh at water boarding while dropping you feet first through what has been described as a human cuisinart while quiping, I’ll show you how to torture, you sissy boy liberal.

Next item, Economy. Although the country was slipping slowly towards recession, the effect of knowing what was coming with the scurge of an Obama Presidencey was like falling off a cliff. Putting this guy in charge was like giving a chainsaw to a termite. Just the idea of taxing the rich is a fools errand and Obama is no fool. He knew that forcing more taxes on the wealthy would drive them offshore and was but one of many tactics that would bring about the colapse of the economy so that Socialism could be installed in it’s place.

As they say at the United Rahm Emanuel College for Dictators, “A crisis in the economy is a terrible thing to waste”. (enhanced approximation)

Do not care who this is to,, and how you accept it,,BUT OBAMA would not even make a GOOD SLAVE.. You would have to walk beside him to show him how to use a LAWN MOWER.. He would probably think he was to pull it backwards to mow out the tracks he mad while walking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Joe H.

        Philly,
If it would take you a day to list Bushes lies, it would take you two weeks to list Obummers!!!! Let’s see, I’ll end the war in the first year of my presidency – still going! I’ll close GITMO in my first year — Still open! I sat in his church for 24 years and I didn’t hear what he was preaching!! I’m a Christian, I’m not a Muslim.(Two for one there) The majority of Americans are for a public option!! Illegals will not be covered! I have no knowledge of the workings of ACORN!! Need I go on???? I can you know!!!

        • usmadgirl

          Hey Joe H,

Don’t forget, “there will be NO lobbyists, no pork & we’ll go over the pork line by line” (I guess that’s like he said he’d go “line by line with Congress” on the 2000 + page Health Care hoax!). I think he meant he was going to have the lobbyists helping him run the country from INSIDE the White House! He pulled a bunch of them out of the hallways & gave them a job! What a lying sack of crap!

          • Claire

            usmadgirl–don’t keep reminding me! LOL

          • Joe H.

            USmadgirl,
How about I will have transparency in my presidency??? Or I will not allow special interest lobbying.

          • usmadgirl

            Joe H,

We could keep going & going like the “Energizer bunny”! But it’s the issues he told the TRUTH about that are the most dangerous things that people didn’t listen to: “We’re 5 days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America” & “under my plan, the energy bills will necessarily sky-rocket”. There was also some comment to the effect “if anyone opens a coal company, I’ll bankrupt them”.

Every time he speaks (to quote Glenn), “I throw up a little bit in my mouth”!

        • cr747

          Joe H,,
You couldn’t even list them all on your computer.. Worst part about his lying is,, he even believes them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • cr747

Phil,, you must of had a brain transplant from a Duroc Hog.. That is the stupidest comment that I have read in some time.. Do not know where you come up with all this HOG wash.. The best thing for you to do is open your eyes and see what Obama,, and the others in Washington are doing to the American People as of RIGHT now..

One stupid remark he made the other day when the,,”Democrazies and the Republicans where meeting about the health bill,” was to John McCain when he told McCain the election was over.. Obama is such an illiterate piece of hog s$$t that he is beginning to smell like one..

Another statement he made was that,,”he was the president,,”.. Childish,, my 11 year old Grand Daughter would put him to shame in a debate.. What a disgrace he is to The United States Of America..

My job takes me to a lot of other countries,, and the most questions I get asked is,, where did we find Obamma.. How embarrassing to be asked that by the Heads of and Leaders of other countries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Joe H.

          cr747,
Did you see the report on Louis Farakhan Today?? First he warned the whites that if anything happened to Obummer that we would be sorry and that the white politicians were setting Obummer up for harm. then he went on to say he was kidnapped by a space ship and had second sight because of it!!! He said the Haitian and Chilean earthquakes were just the start that the US better get ready for its own EARTH SHATTERING EVENT!!!! What total BULL!!!!

          Joe H,,
Fartinacan reminds me of of the story about Chicken Little running and telling everybody,,THE SKY IS FALLING,, THE SKY IS FALLING.. Evidently the space aliens didn’t want him they brought him back,,Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GADS – Bush again. So if that the game then:

“I did not have sex with that woman”. Bill Clinton

“There has never been a private relationship between us of any kind. I know of nothing in Mary Jo’s conduct on that or any other occasion — and the same is true of the other girls at that party — that would lend any substance to such ugly speculation about their character.

Nor was I driving under the influence of liquor.” Ted Kennedy after Chappaquiddick

We live in the present now, the past is done and there is nothing we can about that except learn from it.

        • Joe H.

          Meteor,
yup I have to agree about it being in the past, afterall even Monica is all groin up!!!

  • MaryJane

Anyone remember what the first stimulus bill was for? JOBS..all those “shovel-ready jobs”. There is much of that money not even used yet and these people voted for more. This money will be used to buy votes and to “pay back” unions, lawyers, anyone who supports to a great monetary degree these Socialists/Communists.

For those of you “new” to our country I would say READ OUR CONSTITUTION; no, hearsay, does not do it. This is not an ever-changing; “breathing” document. This document is for always and is to protect the people from the government. Much like you see religion being attacked based on the false premise that congress cannot ESTABLISH a religion means that gov is required to protect us from religion. That is a blatant lie and to know it you must read it and not parrot! If you like your country better…go home.

    • Robin from Indiana

MaryJane… I agree… They haven’t even used the all the money they voted to give out the first go round. And I do think it will be used in a way that it should not be used, like deals with unions, etc. You really got it right.
Scott Brown will have to redeem himself on this, or he will face the consequences of not being reelected. It saddens me to think that the American people are not being represented by ethical men and women with morals and standards. We need a media that is not slanted so that we can see and know what the politicians are doing, including those deals behind closed doors!

      • usmadgirl

        Robin from Indiana,

I agree with your comment. I’m so upset with one of my Senators, Lamar Alexander, who was another one of the Republicans who voted for the “jobs bill”. 98% of the time, he’s voted my very conservative views & was great at the pointless Health Care Summitt yesterday, but I have no idea WHY he voted to spend even MORE money that’s not going to create jobs. I’m sure, like all bills, there was something shoved in it, that if he didn’t vote for it, he’d look like a low-life. For instance, if you didn’t vote for the “hate crimes bill”, you also didn’t vote to fund our troops. I’ve pitched a fit about bills not being ALL separate bills instead of combining good with bad, but that’s why they’ve gotten all the junk & pork passed!

Scott Brown pretty much said he was “an independent thinking Republican” which usually means that they’re either a RINO or a Progressive so I was afraid that he’d be crossing the aisle on a lot of issues! Driving a ‘pick up truck’ does not make one a conservative!

I don’t think he could’ve been elected in Massachusetts if he’d been a true conservative Republican…sad, but true! He was better than the alternative if only to have a glimmer of hope to avoid getting the Health Care hoax passed, but that puts us right back into what we’re trying to get away from. NOW, Obama is probably going to use “reconciliation” to pass it anyway; so all we have is one more RINO or Progressive in the Senate!

    • Billy

Without seperation of Church and state, tyranny and persecution quicly rule the day. All one has to do is look at history or the current theocracies located throughout the world.

Freedom to choose and practice ones own religion is an right. Keep government out of it.

      • s c

Thanks for bringing up this topic, Billy (TRUE separation of church and state). It’s still a well-kept secret that ANY church that claims tax-free status with government becomes an instant slave of that government. When the government decides it’s time, EVERY church will be told what it can and can’t do.
EVERY church will line up and do as it is told, or the government will make it painfully clear why NO church should have been stupid enough to ‘opt’ for tax-free status. It was true in the days of old Rome, and it’s still true today. When you are numbered by the government (to get its ‘blessing’), it’s just a matter of time until you are forced to re-learn an old, hard lesson. Either you are FREE, or you ARE NOT.

        • Michael J.

          SC,
“what the Government giveth, the Government can taketh away”

          • Joe H.

More like WILL take away!!! Especially if it is righteous!!!!

    • usmadgirl

      Mary Jane,

      Excellent comment!

    • Meteorlady

We have millions of miles of federal highways and bridges in this country that are deteriorating. We have no infrastructure to get alternative energy sources such as wind to the large urban areas of our country. We have schools that are crumbling and government buildings that are in need of repairs. Instead I have seen stimulus money go to a golf course in north Fort Worth that is being redone (the golf course was essentially out of business because it was so badly run and cared for). So where is the money and why aren’t we fixing our crumbling infrastructure in this country.

Because 89 billion went to State Fiscal Relief
27 billion toward extending unemployment benefits
88.9 billion went to Medicaid for states
20 billion went to food stamps
40 billion went to health insurance for the unemployed
11.1 billion went to Housing and Urban Development housing assistance
5.1 billion went to Housing and Urban Development for community development
17 billion went to college grants
4.4 billion went to training grants
11.1 billion went to low-income unemployment compensation
7.5 billion went to SS for low-income families, child support and other
51 billion went to tax relief for state and local governments
The rest actually went to maybe create jobs but most were not shovel ready and are still lingering.

  • Barrie Blood

I agree some of the Jobs bill is good. One thing that bothers me, If the businesses are exempt from the Soc. Sec. payroll tax, does that mean the worker has to pay more taxes to makeup for it? Why not just cut the business tax so the employers can afford to put people back to work? This way the Government will get more money from income taxes.

    • Warrior

Nope, it just makes SS more insolvent but that won’t matter because it’s life is about to expire.

  • Janet G

I’m furious! I made a contribution, albeit small, to support this jerk! At every turn we are being deceived by the elites who call themselves leaders. They are LIARS, TURNCOATS, SOCIALISTS, SELF-SERVING, and IDIOTS! They allow themselves to be bought by this administration instead of standing up for what the people who helped them get elected want them to do. It’s all about THEM – looking good and only ACTING like they care. It’s coming to a point that we can’t trust any of these slick gangsters!

    • michael

The united states is becoming more progressive. A recent pew poll showed that the majority of 18-29 year olds are progressive and want government to play a larger roll. I see this in my classes also.so you all will just have to get used to a more progressive America.

      • Laura

What do you teach that you’re discussing politics with your students? A history teacher? Political science? Or, like my daughter found out in college…any class in session was an opportunity for a teacher to discuss their political views? I know I was never taught the true history of the United States–only the version the progressives thought those who weren’t as smart as they were could digest. I don’t even recall the entire Constitution being printed in any of my history books…only excerpts. Similar spoon feeding from my early Catholic lessons regarding the Bible–only for some to read who were ‘better trained to understand these things.’ Only who is making these decisions on who knows more than the next guy?? I’m pretty sure the only ones that think they know more are the arrogant big-ego progressives and those who are forever followers who will blindly follow anyone wanting to lead–and who believe anything they hearif it concerns their short-sighted immediate problem. So the progrssives want to make more of us like them…either the ‘smarter ones’ who will take care of the ‘stupid ones’ (for their own good!), or the ‘stupid ones’ who will do whatever you tell them to because they were told it was for their own good! So we who don’t want to make decisions for other people who should be making their own, and who also don’t want to be told what to do (for our own good!), won’t “…just get used to a more progressive America.” One day some of these students will figure out that what’s really going on is that if you keep people stupid and dependent (which is what is being taught in schools), the ‘smarter progressives’ can do whatever their arrogant egos want to without being accountable! What if you gave ALL the people ALL of the information they need to make a decision, then let them make up their own mind??

        • michael

n answer to your question.. I do not teach or discuss politics. I teach public speaking and they give their persuasive speeches on whatever they want and most choose laws. The most common ones are the legalization of gay marriage, healthcare (at least this year because it is in the news so much) euthanasia etc. I do not grade on topics I grade on eye contact, structure of outline, work cited, Delivery etc. and since I have been doing this for 10 years I have noticed since about 2004 the Majority of the speeches being more progressive in nature. It is just an observation backe up by the pew poll. that is all.

          • Joe H.

            michael,
Not that you would EVER give a slightly better grade if they agree with your political slant?!?!?!?

      • Time

        Michael,
When these young bloods go for a job, they will be thinking about other means of government. But I will tell you I think when the real problems will start of what is not long in the coming, so as progressive as they may be; a bread line is their future.
There will be no new BMW sitting in their driveway, No ten thousand square foot home’s with a maid, no Rolex watch, no hand tailored Armini Suits. No $1000.00 Bally shoe’s.

We can’t find anyone who wants to work for less than $100K per year with “zero qualifications.”
As well I know of many others in Business who are in the same boat.

Be that as it may, the Chinese in China are willing to work for $4500.00 per year and as high as $7000.00 per year to do the same jobs these progressive think they should have.

Now who do you think will get the jobs, the bone heads we pop out of our schools or the Chinese in China?
Not a lot of thinking on that one now is there?

As it stands now 60% of the jobs that used to be in the United States are now done in China, and India.

As I said its not going to be long now as we are well on our way down the back side of the hill, keep in mind at the end of the trail its not going to be a pretty picture.

        • Claire

Time–Well said. And I do agree with your comments.

      • Warrior

Well then, we should identify and extract additional taxes from their parents!

    • Peggy

Maybe we should stop being so gullible…..Maybe we shouldn’t automatically believe someone just because they say they drive a truck?

I’m tired of constantly being lied to. Look what the neo-conmen left for us! EVERYTHING bad that happens with this bunch of criminal-buffoons in office now, can be laid at the feet of the neo-conmen.

What is a neo-con? Look it up……ex liberal elitists! A sheep in wolves clothing! The only difference between a liberal and a neo-con (that I can see), is the neo-con doesn’t mind going to war. In fact, they seem to be a little too-ready. But what can you expect from war profiteers?

The size of our government grew 40% under these neo-conmen.

Alarms SHOULD have been going off, when it was announced that Palin and Brown were going to support Mclame. Never-mind the media presenting this news as if the Tea Party were endorsing Mcsame….which they aren’t.

These pseudo-conservatives, these Grahams and McCain’s, have turned the word “conservative” into a joke.

Well guess what? The joke is on US. And we kept falling for it, hook-line-and-sinker.

I have an answer to this on-going tragedy. We the people, MUST impose term limits on these jackals. These career criminals, these lawyers in office, will NEVER vote for term limits, so we must impose term limits upon them.

We have the awesome power to destroy this evil which has entrenched itself in the filthy city of washington dc. We can totally change our corrupt government in six years time.

      RE-ELECT NO-ONE ……EVER AGAIN, NO MATTER WHAT.

We also should organize a massive effort, to expose the REAL unemployment numbers. All of us who are out of work, SHOULD be signing-up for unemployment benefits, irregardless of eligibility/ineligibility. This would FORCE them to count us. It would show the TRUE number of the unemployed, and it would also be an opportunity for the frustrated to rub some egg in the face of the corrupt powers-that-be.

We should do it EVERY week, until we become employed.

      • Michael J.

        Peggy,
I agree that unemployment numbers are being manipulated.

As an alternative to term limits, we should back candidates who agree to push for a process that will provide us with a “Confidence Vote” which would allow us to fire the likes of Scott Brown or any politician who defies the wishes of constituents. Why should we have to wait 2,4 or 6 years to toss out these bums?

Also, the implementation of term limits would in some cases cause the loss of good public servants.

        • Winnie

Michael J. I thought all conservatives and the GOP were celebrating big time when Scott Brown was elected. What happened to his bubble? All he did was vote for the peopole who voted for him to get some jobs going in your economy.

          • Michael J.

            Winnie,
The best thing Scott Brown did was to provide a speed bump for Obamacare. Since voting for the faux Jobs Bill he has shown himslf to be the NAKED RINO that we all suspected. It’s only natural that the people of Massachusetts wish to now terminate Brown’s employment.

You would want to do the same if Obama had turned out to be a conservative American patriot who showed compassion for this country and it’s people. You would be mad too, If Obama glorified this nation that you people hate, and it’s retired veterans in speeches that brought tears to everyone elses eyes. You’d feel betrayed too if Obama did things too bring about a swift conclusion to the recession that he worsened. You’d be damned angry if Obama spoke with pride about America when in the presence of foreign despots and dictators, wouldn’t you?

I am quite sure that these things would make Winnie, poo, don’t you?

          • Winnie

Michael J. Winnie poo? How about Winnie the Pooh. I could see why you are mad about what Scott stands for, but why do you say that I hate America? I was born in Alaska and I was pretty proud when Alaska became the 49th state. Maybe you Americans should go and vote the bums out and not just stay at home and complain. I’ll be all for the Americans voting out the idiots who are voted in by the people to work for them and give them such good health care insurance. Then they (the politicans) turn around and act like they were put in congress to work for the big insurance companies and the pharmicutical companies. These are the big businesses that the repulicans work for right out in the open.

          • Michael J.

            Winnie,
Glad to hear you are a proud Alaskan, but can’t help noticing that you seem to separate yourself from Americans. Why is that?

Also, hate to burst your igloo but, both Democrats and Republicans receive compensation from big insurance and big pharma.

P.S. If Winnie the Pooh is you, put some pants on!

          • Joe H.

            Winnie,
YOUAMERICANS!?!?!?? Just what do you consider yourself???? Russian???
You say you were proud when laska became a state yet you use that phrase? your Freudian slip betrayed you!!!

          • Claire

The politicians cannot vote AGAINST the insurance and pharamceutical companies. The politicians must protect their campaign donors. These statements apply to the Repubs as well as the Dems. All of them are involved in this backroom dealings.

          • Claire

            Egad– “these backroom dealings”

          • Winnie

Michael J. You’re funny about the pants. I think that it’s childish of you. But that’s your problem. I am proud to be have been born and raised in Alaska. I married a Canadian 41 years ago and I now live in Canada. But I keep an eye on the happenings in your poor messed up government. the topic I believe was about Scott Brown, the pride and joy of GOP a just a few months ago. I happen to think that President Obama is doing better than Bush and Cheney. Those two republicans really did a number on the Americans and the land. I hope that the Americans both republicans and democrats get their voices together and vote your bums of a congress out of D.C. and into jail where they belong, especially those repubs who continue to work for the big businesses and not for the people.

          • Joe H.

            Winnie,
i think you are just scared that Canada will get a flood of Americans again and your job market will be screwed up again like last time!! You can relax girl, your goverment up there already said that they wouldn’t take them again!! I applaud them for that, by the way!!! Ob and as far as your being proud to have been an American for a little while? BULL!!!!!

          • Winnie

Michael J. Bull is what you say, so bull is what you have. Your character is what your mouth will say. I guess pity is the only word I have for those of you who say you are the “real Americans”. How about leaving out the words republicans and democrats and just say Americans. Once a proud and respected nation. Second to none. I pray that the Americans will join together and bring that proud and strong nation back. Work for what you want and help the children and the Elders. Send those bums on welfare in the fields to work like slaves instead of breaking the backbone of the America by taking the hard working people’s money and spending it like they earned it themselves. That, Michael, is what I want for my former country. You can call me anything and put words in my mouth, but until I say them the words are not true.

          • Winnie

Sorry Michael J, I meant to reply to Joe H. for the above message.

          • Joe H.

            winnie,
you talk out of both sides of your mouth. First you say you think Obummer is doing such a better job then you say put all those lazy welfare people to work, something obummer would NEVER do!!! And he doesn’t give a DAMN about the elders as you put it and yes, I do know what you speak of!!!

          • Meteorlady

Winnie – why not just stay on a comment board that has to do with Canada since that’s what you seem to understand. You have higher taxes than we do, a health care system that requires Canadians to come here for procedures they have a long wait time for in Canada, and we are subsidizing your drugs because you have price controls. For the drugs you should thank everyone of us – we pay more because of your socialist agenda.

Scott Brown was elected by the people and those people are mostly democrats or socialist so it comes as no surprise that he is center of the road and sometimes left. Not to say what he did is right – voting on something that he deemed to be “not prefect” was not very thoughtful and does a disservice to the people that elected him to office.

          • Winnie

Meteorlady. Don’t forget that I was born in Alaska and my ancestors were born and lived there way before your colombus “discovered” North America. You may consider us up north second-class but, hey, we are cared for here. We may have to stand in line for luxury health stuff, but we all are cared for. President Obama is looking out for all Americans and not the two percent that represents your million-aires and the one percent billionaires that your former Bush and cheney took such good care of. As for your pills, remember your poorer citizens are getting their precriptions from Canada and you may have the best doctors there, but who can afford them?

          • Joe H.

            winnie,
I am no where near RICH as you put it and I can afford any meds I need because of my insurance. I can also see any Dr. I want specialists included without a referal and i don’t have to wait six months to a year to see them. By the way, if your system up there is so great, then why are they talking about going back to an insurance system??? And don’t tell me they aren’t, I’ve got a cousin up there and he keeps me tuned to what’s going on!!!

          • Winnie

Joe H. Good to know that you have relatives here in Canada. We already do have private insurance companies here in Canada, but they are nothing as greedy as the ones you have in United States. If I can afford $400.00 a month insurance, I too would buy such a luxury expense. But alas I can’t afford it so I depend on my government to help me out when I need a surgery such as the one I’m getting soon on my knee. Sure I had to wait a year and a half but I didn’t mind.
I don’t have to declare bankrupcy for this surgery.

    • Claire

LIve and learn. The problem with this is that some of us have learned the hard way.

  • John Weaver

The government canot create jobs. All it can do is take money from those who have a job and give it to those who don’t for one reason or another.
The deficit continues as the banks won’t loan money to assist businesses expand thus create jobs and increase tax revenues.
The health care package creates an additional overhead burden that businesses fund , where is the money coming from ?
Government created jobs ? Where does the monet to fund this folly ?
From businesses that can’t grow ? From employees that aren’t working ? From banks that don’t support an ailing economy?

Another Tax and spend RINO comes forward and people who support him want political appeasement. Turn the News media off if political wrangling bothers you. America needs peoiple who will oppose destructive spending and political pandering to BO supporters and cronies. The GOVT. needs to go on a fast and start taxing those on the govt dole as it was income earned. Maybe then, these indolent types will be concerned over the spending spree. Everyone knows the GREAT LIAR doesn’t. His only fix for problems is to borrow more money and further entrench the Tax-payer burden. May he be removed from office in disgrace and recieve the full measure of poverty that he intends upon the American people!

  • Barrie Blood

    MaryJane
Yes I do remember the first stimulus bill, and I think the gov. should use the unused money to bail out Medicare, and Soc. Sec. and to h— with the unions and trying to buy votes is a waste of money come Nov. The shovel ready job that were created were in the Fed. Gov. Come Nov I will not vote for any incumbunt, lets do what we told the Gov. to do on the health care bill. Start with a clean Sheet of paper.

    • sabre’

Medicare and Social Security WOULD NOT BE IN TROUBLE if used correctly. As it is right now, these monies are going to people ( IMMIGRANTS) who have NEVER CONTRIBUTED TO THEM!!!!!!!!!DUH…..of course they will fail when I pay into them, and they give the money to someone who NEVER WORKED IN THIS COUNTRY….This is NOT how they were EVER designed to work, so they will go bust. If we took our paychecks and gave the money away to our friends, then the utility companies and such would go broke! SAME THING WITH MEDICARE AND SSN…they are giving the money to who they want, not to the people who DESERVE it!

      • Joe H.

        Sabre’,
I agree I went to college with a kid getting a full ride room and board included, all on social security. both of his parents were alive and working. the poor schmuch flunked out after just one quarter!!!! I was going on the GI bill and 283.00 a month for room, board books tuition- the works. I had to get a job to get by and still accomplished a 3.75 after 10 years out of school!!! I,m not bragging, it was hard and I spent quite a few all nighters to do it! I’ll be the first to admit I’m no ways brilliant!!

I feel sorry for the “conservatives” who were duped into supporting Scott Brown. The real Conservatives and Libertarians in Taxachusetts knew what his voting record in the State Legislature was, and that he would be a McCain Republican, at best. We tried to exppose his record, but the prostitute press ignored the truth and promoted the lie. The “entertainment conservatives” of national talk show prominence also refused to expose the truth, totally ignoring Joe Kennedy (not the Chavez ally socialist from the socialist Kennedy family, but the real Conservative/Libertarian in the Senate election who would vote like Ron Paul), and joined in with the prostitute press in deceiving people throughout the country into thinking that the choice was just Brown or Coakley. Beck, Limbaugh,O’Reilly, etc. were informed about Joe Kennedy, but did you hear them mention his name and positions? Shame on them. Our “conservative” talk media let us down, and good people were conned into supporting Brown, not just as the “lesser of two evil”, but as the only option. too late now (but maybe not for next time), but check out http://www.joekennedyforsenate.com

    • http://califreak@mailinator.com califreak

Wow, drfill, you are so right! I checked out the facts and discovered that an independent Libertarian named Joe Kennedy was actually the first of the 3 candidates to be on the Ballot in that recent Senate race. Not once did I hear Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh talk about him. Here in California, we depend on our “conservative” radio allies to keep us informed. We thught that there were just 2 candidates on the Ballot. Beck and Limbaugh really let us down. We can get that kind of treatment from the Establishment Media any time. Our friends should not do that to us too.

      • Claire

You should know by now that the radio/TV pundits promote who they want, and they are not always accurate. These paid entertainers like to stir the pot, to keep Americans in turmoil. Personally, I sometimes think it is a form of brainwashing. Like DaveH always says- we have to do our own research if we want the truth.

  • TeresaE

This “jobs bill” is a bunch of bullspit.

If I, an employer, hire one worker at the average American “wage” (which really includes the $12,000 a year I pay for insurance for my worker, but I’m going to ignore that and pretend like I pay the worker $40,000 annually) it is going to result in a $1,860 “break” for my company.

    Here are the facts:

    1. It expires on 12/31/10, so nine months of “breaks”
    2. It gives me a 6.2% reduction in expense which will equate to a grand total of $1,860 in payroll tax deduction ($40k X 75% X 6.2%)
    3. My increase in unemployment and workers comp is larger for this year than the “savings.”
    4. We don’t have any business to give us the reason to hire anybody.
    5. No employer is going to add over $50,000 in expenses for a $1,860 savings – especially when their isn’t enough work for the employees I have left.

Conclusion, more feel good bs to placate the growing unrest amongst the sheep.

I won’t be hiring based on this jobs bill. No business owner I know will be either.

But, IF business picks up (and by all accounts, that is a real long shot), I will happily use the extra dollars to pay a small portion of my overhead.

This bill is a farce. The government cannot “fix” the problems the government created.

      TeresaE,

Now that’s more like it! I wasn’t sure, but was skeptical…now I know why. Your explanation makes total sense; Of course, anything that makes sense is too difficult for some to grasp…such a shame. Thanks for your input!

Voting for jobs? Thats like voting for air. What jobs, where, paid for by whom? The Government does not “create” jobs that aren’t paid for by taxation. Please remember this as the gov-mint tells us THEY are going to create jobs. HOW?

I don’t know if any of you feel stimulated, I don’t because I know who is going to pay the bill!!!

  • http://cliffordesumner@hotmail.com Clifford Sumnmer

Vote him out, next election. He has only been there a month and is already a dumb, jerk.. Washington changes people in a hurry and not for the better.

    • Joe H.

Brown has stabbed the very people that voted him in right in the back!!! I only hope the people remind him of this come time for him to be re-elected!!! That is what we have to do to all of these turn coats, remind them they work for US and to disrespect us is to do so at the peril of their job!!!!

      • Laura

If you think about it…he didn’t do anything any differently than many of the others in office now that say one thing before the election, then do whatever they want once elected. I hate to bring this up, but Scott Brown is a good looking, tall man. Weren’t studies done that showed that the taller you are, and the better looking you are, the more likely to be elected?? In this technological, fast-paced world, aren’t we voting for people the same way we buy cars? Which are better looking; better mileage; but only getting their information from the manufacturer’s TV commercials?? Or worse yet…because that’s what most of my friends want or have? Does anyone ask the tough questions about who they associate with; what are their values; what do they stand for?

        • Claire

We shall see what Scott Brown does in the future. Perhaps he should keep his job of posing in the buff on the side??? Sure he is goodlooking and he knows it. There is always a lot of hype about looks. Pretty is as pretty does. Handsome is as handsome does. And I don’t really have a problem with this (especially since I am goodlooking, I had to throw this in), but seriously, character should be considered also. Sometimes the average looking ones are better people, not shallow and vain.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
hows the old arm after that one??? HEHE!

          • Claire

JoeH–Don’t you pick on me. The “old” arm is holding up pretty good. Remember, I throw lots and lots of tennis balls. Name the time and place and I’ll indian wrestle you! I used to be really good at indian wrestling. Believe it or not!! I took women’s arms to the table that were twice the size I am. And I took on a few men. Time for the truth–that was about 20 years ago! But I will still try!!

          • Warrior

            Like Bawney Fwrank?

          • Claire

Warrior—Barney Frank?? Nope, he doesn’t fit in any category!! He’s been whupped too many times with an ugly stick.

        • cr747

Laura,, if you go by looks,, just how in the he!! did Nancy Pelosi get elected?? Also Charles Shumer??,, Diane Feinstein,, Barbra Boxer.. My arse would make all of them a much better looking face.. Rangel,,my gosh,,he looks like the south end of a north bound jackass.. Then of course there,s monkey ears Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Joe H.

            cr747,
Let’s not forget the pig ugliest of them all Bawney Fwanks!!!!! I can explain him going gay. no self respecting girl, woman or dog would have anything to do with him!!!!

You can say that again..Also he stated he didn’t know his “mate” was harvesting marijuana..Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JoeH–I have a feeling we are going to see more turncoats. They are running helter skelter.

      • usmadgirl

        Joe H,

I was one of the ones who prayed that Scott Brown would win (knowing that he was a RINO) ONLY because he said he could stop the Health Care hoax, but like O-dumbo, he did tell us who he was. He said he was “an independent thinking Republican” which pretty much means he’s not going to stick to the conservative values of the Republican Party, but do whatever HE personally wants to depending on his views on an issue. He probably IS doing what HIS constituents want because, remember, we’re talking about ultra-progressive Massachusetts. I think the main reason he won is because he is so “hot” that people couldn’t see past the surface to see what he was made of inside & they weren’t listening to what he was really saying because they were staring at his “pretty” everything!

        • Joe H.

          USmadgirl,
yes but did he lie about that, also??? will he vote in favor of the health care bill or against???

          • usmadgirl

            Joe H,

I started to mention that in my comment to you, but I didn’t want to think about it! I think the people in Massachusetts would string him up if he voted for HC, but I’m to the point of not trusting anything anybody says anymore. I used to trust everybody, but I’m skeptical of everybody now. This administration & terrorists have made me leery of the entire human race. I wouldn’t put anything past the thugs in office now! Planting progressive candidates in the Republican party would certainly not shock me…Dede Scozzofava!

      • usmadgirl

        Joe H,

What my actual point was that we need to start listening, not only with our ears, but in our “gut” what candidates are saying & reading between the lines. We need to start watching what BOTH hands are doing & watching them to their very souls in order to see what they’re truly made of. We need to know who their friends & heroes are & judge them accordingly!

If everyone had been really listening to O-dumbo, watching both hands at the same time & cared about all the scum-sucking thugs he called friends & heroes, we would not be going through this constant concern for our future & anger for the things that are happening daily that we feel we have no control over! He pretty much told us who he was – nobody wanted to listen! They just wanted to hate Bush for keeping us safe for 7 years & for having a decent economy until the Dumbs took over the House & Senate! Don’t know why they hated him for that but they did!

        • Michael J.

          usmadgirl,
Agreed, let’s just hope the sheeple have learned enough to avoid being sheered.

          • Joe H.

            Michael J. & USmadgirl,
I was yelling at people to beware of Obummer before he was elected and before I found this site, ask Stephaan. He should remember I was dead set against Odumma as was he!!! We were both castigated for our opinion on him, but everything we said came true and more!!!

          • usmadgirl

            Michael J.

I think a lot have, but I’m so PO’d at one of my senators, Lamar Alexander, that I haven’t written him yet because, if I did, I’m afraid the men in the black suits in their black SUVs with their black weapons would come knocking on my door. He voted for the stupid “Jobs Bill”! I guess somebody forgot to tell him that the idiots haven’t even spent the first one yet! Like they think we’re unaware of what they’re “saving it for”! That’s what I get for bragging about my conservative representatives! My other senator, Bob Corker, is a self-made multi-millionaire in commercial construction & was Mayor of Chattanooga who cleaned up the city to make it one of the most award-winning cities in the country, but he has voted conservatively on every issue; so I’m hoping he stays in office. His first term was in 2006 as Senator.

          • usmadgirl

            JoeH,

Same here. I was talking to strangers about him. It’s a great wonder somebody didn’t hit me! I had to be careful to keep my mouth shut to our customers. We have one that I knew was conservative, but most of the people I have to deal with work for big companies in very progressive states. We barely make enough for ONE person to survive, let alone 2 plus all our rescued pets; so I can’t afford to lose anybody else. We’ve lost 3 customers (huge title companies) to bankruptcy in the last 2 years!

My older son traveled with & ran sound for “The Little River Band” for a few months (he also has a recording studio in Nashville). They told him he was the best “sound man” they’d ever had. The next week he made a comment about O-dumbo & they decided they didn’t need him anymore! He lost a very well-paying job just for expressing his conservative opinion!

          • cr747

I knew from the first time I saw Obama in a debate that he was a lire.. You could read him like a book.. Just like now–SSFF,, Started Stumbled Farted and Fell.. I got that from one of my race horses..I was in another state when they had the Ky. Derby,, and after the race I text my Trainer and ask him how we did.. That is what he text me back.. Of course I had to text him back and ask him what that meant.. I then got the answer.. Proud to say that same horse went on to be very good in the rest of the racing seasons to follow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • DaveH

          Girl,
I think that a large portion of the voting population doesn’t even know that Congress makes the laws.

          • usmadgirl

            DaveH,

Most people don’t even know who the VP is (not that he’s significant)! I certainly don’t consider myself politically saavy, but I’ve learned a lot in the past few years, especially the past year from Glenn! I’ve learned a lot from Tinwarble about how the system works. I actually learned it in school, but like French, I didn’t use it so I forgot it.

Like I’ve said before, I’m just a pretty good judge of character. Let’s call it an “icky” feeling that some people give me (like O-dumbo” & Mark Sanford for instance). O-dumbo was much more than “icky”, it was like, “he’s an evil Socialist”! I try not to prejudge people, but I’m usually right in my first impression!

Oh yeah, I took Glenn’s “Nolan test” & was on the line of Conservative & Libertarian, but I think that was due to the particular questions. I’m still a true conservative!

  • Torch

One of the worst things about the bill is that it does not require the employer to hire legal citizens; they can hire illegals and get the same rewards.

  • Thomas F. McIntyre

All very good insights. The simple fact is that the so called Stimulus Bill still has over half of the funds still left to be spent. By adding to that total, which is obviously too much already because it can not be controlled, i.e., “shovel ready” should not be too hard to marshall and make sure it is not going 1) INTO SOME PORK BARREL and 2)

  • Thomas F. McIntyre

into some other country. As it has been said, Government can not create jobs. Some one has to define what an ECONOMY is to Mr. Obama and his cronies. They either do not understand that productivity is required to spur an economy and that goods – MADE IN THE USA and maybe more importantly MADE FROM MATERIALS MADE HERE IN OUR COUNTRY is the key to survival in this day and age.

  • Barrie Blood

I live in one of the most unemployed and high tax states in the union (Mich.) and have been layed off for over a year and have never made $40,000 a year. When I am working I make less than $30,000 a year. I would like to make $40,000 a year to see what it is like. I cannot see where this jobs bill will help anyone except the Fed. Gov. get bigger, and put more tax on the working people(Which we do not need).

    • Joe H.

      Barrie Blood,
Just go to work for the guvmint and become part of the problem!!! The average wage is 70,000 a year!!! Those over paid and under worked suckers are something!!!
i’m reminded of a friend of mine. She got laid off at the bank she was working at and finally landed a job with V.A.. She, being used to working in the fast paced environment of a bank, went at the job of reviewing claims for VA at that pace too. Her supervisor called her in to her office and chewed her out because she was doing more than seven claims a week!!!! She told me that it really bothered her to think that there were disabled vets out there that had been waiting as high as two years for a determination and she was called on the carpet for something like that. And believe me she was a very detail oriented person so I know her work was accurate!!!

      • DaveH

        Joe,
I don’t know many government employees (for obvious reasons, lol) but one I talked to said she got pay raises not based on performance but on how well she did on periodic testing.
One reason Socialism doesn’t work is that there really is no reward for performing well, but if you screw up you will have hell to pay. So the government workers don’t want to stick their necks out to innovate.

        • Joe H.

          Dave,
As far as my friend, iy doesn’t matter anymore as she died of a brain tumor. She was one special beautiful person, God protect her!!!

Could it be some Tricky and Clever Campaign Managers have conned the Voters again? I am referring to Scott Brown in Mass. I have read 4.2 million people lost their jobs last year, but nobody has noticed. During the Clinton reign from 1992-2000, there were 3 Million Americans that lost their jobs. I always heard that the Democratic Party was the Party of the People, and put people back to work. However, after seeing all the jobs(4.2 million lost in 2009) and 3 Million jobs lost in the 1992-2000 period, I don’t think the Democrats are the Party of the People. I think most people are superficial and don’t do enough research on the Candidates’ real beliefs. People are easily sidetracked when a Candidate saids I believe in Change, Real Change. Superficial voters never try to pin down or try to define what a Candidate Really believes to our Country’s detriment.

  • Snowbird In New Hampshire, USA

There is no harm done by Scott Brown voting for new jobs.

Please concentrate on booting Obama out!!!

    • Meteorlady

Do you know the contents of the bill. Whether is was good or bad for the economy and the American people?

  • TNT

I agree withScott Brown on voting on Jobs Bill. I am very tired of all the fighting in DC
i watched the health summett yesterday and the Replicans agree on 9 out of 10 items in the bill
so how can they justifie stalling the bill it was a mazing to see the hatred of the repulican party especialy baner

TNT,, I don’t know where you got your info,, but you are way off course.. The figures would have come from the democrats more so than the Republicans..The demos,, where very rude,, and the president was a complete a$$hole..He allotted the demos. much more debating time,, than he did the Republicans.. Mitch McConnell called his hand to it.. Of course the arrogant president over looked what Mitch had stated..
It was a one sided agenda just for SHOW on the(not so educated) president.. Oh yes then there was miss goody 2 shoes(pelosimino) sitting there looking like bullfrog on a lily pad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Meteorlady

So was your sound turned down? I heard a lot of that summer. Obama did most of the talking – some 2 hours worth – so I sort of got sick of hearing him rattle on and on and one.

What I did hear was a lot of Republicans sharing data on how much this thing will actually cost us and how they were going to fund it. I didn’t hear anything that would make me believe that this is a good bill, nor did I hear much agreeing from either side. The Republicans had facts and figures and Obama just talked on and on and on, trying to defend his health care plans.

      • cr747

        Meteorlady,,
I didn’t get to see it on TV.. I had it dubbed and sent to me,, and it did sound like Obama was doing most of the bellowing.. That is what he does best.. A bunch of BS,, and yes the cost is going to be outlandish..

Obama is making me sicker every time I see or here him stutter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jim

no one ever talks about how this president has disinfranchised the very people that played a major role in hi election. the black community. first of all i am white but what i can’t understand is why the black people are not up in arms over the fact that black unemployment especially in the cities is astoundingly high since he became president. hope and change does not pay the bills. if i were them i would be screaming at my senator and congressmen. he should not get a pass because of his color.

    • Phil

Jim.. How on earth is president Obama responsible for Black unemployment….? And for that matter what policy has he passed in his 1 year as president that’s responsible for any unemployment…? I know you hate this but the economy train was already off the tracks when he was running for president…. He was elected because the economy was horrible under George W. Bush…. President Obama isn’t in office because it was his turn…. Why don’t you tell me what the republicans would do diffrent if they were to get the goverment back?… so far the only policy I’ve seen or heard from republicans is… Obamas a socialist, Obamas a foreigner , Obama is this , Obama is that…. If the republicans get back in power you can expect Tax cuts for the top 2% and deregulation .. The samethings that got us here and put President Obama in office…

      • Joe H.

        Philly,
and all I’VE heard is Bush did this and Bush did that!! Give Obummer more than six months, give Obummer more than a year, and if he DOES get another term we will be hearing from the likes of you “give him more than eight years!!!” Gimme a break!!!

      • Michael J.

Well let’s see Phil, how about starting over with HCR, drop Cap & Trade, whose science is bogus, keep Bush tax cuts in place, rescend all taxes implemented so far and include all those planned by this administration, start utilizing domestic natural resources, disban SEIU and ACORN, jail Charles Wrangle, Chris Dodd and Bwarney Fwank, use remaining stimulous to pay down the debt. And that should be enough for one days work.

You don’t need an economist to figure this out. This is not rocket science. Do you deny making these few changes would create an immediate upsurge in the economy? We are perched on the edge of a precipice now, what do we have to lose? Unless the intent is to tear down instead of restore.

        • Joe H.

          Michael J,
I’m glad that you brought up Bawney. Something bugs the hell out of me. Remember when he said he didn’t know his boyfriend was growing pot in his basement??? SO WHAT!! We had a grandmother here in Lake County Ohio whose grandkid was growing pot in her basement and they boarded up her house!!! Why did Bawney get special dispensation??? They should have taken his house and jailed him, Then we wouldn’t have to put up with him now!!!

          • Claire

JoeH–I never heard about Frank’s boyfriend growing pot in the basement. Where have I been! Another classic example of corrupt politicians getting by with everything. I would be in the clinker if I pulled a stunt like that. When will this garbage ever end.

          • Michael J.

            JoeH,
I do remember the story you referred to. I’m sure Bwarney’s boyfriend will make sure Bwarney gets what he deserves in the end. Bwarney’s probably a gluton for that sort of punishment.

          • Joe H.

            Michael J.
well he made his bed so let him lay…. no I can’t say it!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

      • DaveH

When the top 1% of wage earners pay 40% of the income taxes, how can you call them tax cuts? It’s much more accurate to say the government would be stealing less from them.

      • cr747

        Phil ol boy,,
Could you tell me why the unemployment rate jumped so much higher when the arrogant Obama took office??

I am around Black people every day,, and 90% of them are fed up with Obama.. The economy train started running backwards when Obama took office,,and he has run out of tracks..

You can blame the economy on Obama,,with his lack of knowledge.. He knows nothing about being president.. He wouldn’t even make a good wart on Nancy Pelosi’s a$$..

Obama got in office by being one of the biggest liers in presidential history,,and will go down in history as one of the lowest,,least intelligent presidents ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Meteorlady

Ok – Bush went before the Senate Banking Committee in early 2000 and testified that he had grave concerns about Freddie an Fannie and the lending policies. He also talked about other economic dangers on the horizon. Did the Banking Committee take heed? No, they lectured Bush about how great and well run Fannie and Freddie were doing. You can probably find the clips on utube as I remember seeing one of them quite some time ago. Even with the two wars going on, we were not running a hugh deficit. It all happened the last two years he was in office. The legislative branch set the budgets, not just for then, but for the next two years. Those people were Democrats and they increased spending monumentally during that period. Granted Bush should have vetoes the budgets, but he didn’t because he figured he would be overridden.

  • jim

TNT the jobs bill is window dressing. mark my words. it will not put a dent in the unemployment problem. throwing money at at the problem never solves the problem we are on the verge of economic colapse. this is just smoking mirrors.

  • Willam Moore

John B: Come on. Time to grow up. Were there injustices in America before our time, yes. Are there injustices today, sure. Will there be in the future, sure. Why not stop being a part of them. As long as you cry “poor me”, the less you will take responsibility for yourself. You are probably(you decided) the type of person that want the Government to run your life for you, give you other peoples money (in the form of benefits), and have them feed and provide for the children you won’t care for. Grow up, be a man, take responsibility for yourself, and tell the Federal Government to get out of your life. You scream about slavery, you continue to enslave yourself each time you cry for government aid and protection. You cry about something you have never been forced to endure.

Speaking of slavery, there is not a group of people, a race, color or religion that has not been enslaved to another people. It’s not right, it’s just a fact of history and the evil intent (many times) of mankind. If you hate slavery, then don’t enslave others, and refuse to be enslaved to any, and particularly, the government.

To TereseE: You go girl. What I want to know is who is going to pay for this SS forgiveness for these new jobs (supposedly). Didn’t the politicians already rob this bucket? So their plan is to divert funds from the account that is already bleeding, and this is the one program that all the wage earners of this country have been forced, yes forced to pay into and matched by employers, that I keep hearing will be reducing its benefit. Makes sense, the forced contribution is demanded, so we can steal from it to pay for other programs, and not return it to the people that paid into it. Yep, sounds like America of the 21st century.

    • Joe H.

      William,
Like all good politicos the Social security that people have paid into all their working life will be raided!!! We will never recieve anything out of it if we are less than 60 years old right now!!! Five years from now it will all be gone and I feel sorry for the ones that already depend on it. They will suffer for it!

  • http://charter howe

I didn’t think Scott Brown came to town to vote against all democratic bills. The dems actually come up with a good one once in awhile. The bill he voted for was a small help to small business and although our country is broke, the 15 billion cost for this bill may actually be helpful to create some jobs. The problem with this bill was it was not enough help to small business’s that are struggling. The wasteful stimulus and the porkulis bills were a failure unless you think paying 400,000 dollars to upgrade a museum in democratic Senator Dodd’s district and 3 million for upgrades for the late democratic Senator Murther to the Murtha airport in Penna are good spending policies to create jobs. The democrats want to spend lots of taxpayer money to create jobs but in this case it is possible that it may have been the right thing to do for our country. The health care reform bill is the jobs killer if passed because it will spread the wealth too far to create a new entitlement program that is not deficit nuetral. The states will also have huge budget busting deficits because of the new groundrules that are legislated in the health care reform that pertains to medicaid. Pelosi and company do not understand WE THE PEOPLE want them to stop big spending like cap and trade, health care reform, and eventually the Amnesty bill. I think its important to find ways to create jobs without creating more govt and more federal intrusions. I would like Congress to have an accounting for what and where this jobs bill money goes, so that it doesn’t go to ACORN, SEIU and other groups that are funded strictly to advance and maintain the Democratic electorate. The law is being ignored, but don’t give up on Brown yet. Just remember, in Nov 2010 and Nov 2012 WE THE PEOPLE will send a message to these do nothing Politicians that will be heard around the world. Also, we do not need a smart harvard lawyer to be President, what we need is a President for all people and Barack Hussein Obama is not that guy. I laughed when he said that he would rather be a good one term President than a mediocre two term President and my first thought was what if you figure out that you were a poor first term President would you go quietly. We all should be outraged at the actions of the Executive branch and the Congressional branch and we would be smarter to vent our frustrations with continuos contact with your Senators and Representatives to share your position, they supposedly work for you, and ease off your fellow country men who want a quality life also. I didn’t spend 29 years in the military to become a party to people who are trying to destroy our constitution and bankrupt our country.

    • DaveH

Assuming somebody will have to pay that money back eventually, the question is how? If the Government can’t live within its means today, how is it ever going to be frugal enough to spend so much less as to be able to pay off that debt?
If spending money was the road to prosperity, no country would be poor. Their governments would just spend them out of it.
Keynesian economics were disproved when Jimmy Carter was president. Must we keep making the same mistakes over and over?

  • http://msn F Whitehill

Thank your for thinking about the citizens of this country. I have not voted republican for quite a while, but your example on behalf of the middle class and not the party, is what I really appreciate.
We have had a more open government and with that comes the price of seeing everyone’s warts.

    • Joe H.

      F. Whitehill,
A more transparent government!?!!? Are you ever looking through rose colored glasses. this poor excuse for a president has had more closed door meetings than any other president in history!!!!

  • eddie47d

Good facts Teresa E.; If we have to have stimulus money then I’m glad they are not spending it all at once. We can’t always predict what’s down the road. Most people who get a tax refund check have it spent the next day (I’ve been gulity before) Planning ahead can save alot of problems. The economy is still bad,yet the first stimulus should be enough to get this country moving. We need to learn to take care of ourselves. Someone mentioned that blacks should be furious because of the higher unemployment and they are probably right.Unfortunetly black unemployment is always high even when the economy is good. So does anyone really care! Obama can’t produce jobs just for blacks. Folks would scream bloody murder.

    • Joe H.

      eddieduh!
If that is what Obummer and co are doing with the stimulus money then why would he be considering a second one???To save more for a rainy day??? I know!!! he’s trying to defeat China by borrowing them under!! Right??

    • DaveH

      Eddie,
Will you promise me that you will take off the blinders when the unemployment is still 10%, and inflation is raging 2 years from now?

  • dot hurl

We didn’t vote Scott Brown in because he was a republican, but because he is more of an independent. We can’t throw him to the wolves because he voted for a bill that he believes will help create jobs or give tax breaks to small companies. After all the dollar signs of this past year, 15 billion seems like pocket change. One group that was against this bill was the black congressional caucus. With unemployment at 10%, we should be concerned with all people having the chance at getting back to work.

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

I understand People’s frustrations with RINOs and wimps within the GOP, BUT GET A LIFE!! Some republicans just moan and complain!! Of course, what do you really expect from an extremely blue state? Rudy Giuliani is not really a conservative, but he was the best mayor I can think of, better than any democrap predecessor, and the closest person to being conservative that can win in our city. Likewise, at least Brown’s opposed to the disaster of Obamacare. Do you whiners think Brown’s Democrap opponent would’ve opposed NHC this jobs bill, or that she would’ve been overall more conservative?? And don’t forget that Brown’s seat was held by Ted Kennedy for some 48 years. (As far as we know, Brown never drove his car off a bridge!!) Anybody who expects a democrap to be more conservative than most republicans probably believes in the tooth fairy. GET REAL!!

  • Doc

ALL of YOU will NOT SEE though this SONG and DANCE until this COUNTRY FALLS ON IT COLLECTIVE FACE AS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. Then you will see where you were thought of as a bunch of ID10TS only without a GOV. who has NO money to function. GOOD LUCK, because MOST of you will be DEAD, because you can’t think or survive on your own without your nanny state.

    • Joe H.

      Doc ,
you scared the hell out of me, I thought I’d seen a miracle!! Then I remembered the other Doc is Sarvis!!!
I do agree with you tho. Beck asked a very poignent question today. He asked how many of us would be willing to live like our grand parents did during the great depression(in my case it would be my parents) to pass on a free nation like we had as kids to our children?
I would and wouldn’t think twice about it if it guaranteed my children that and that my country would survive past them!

  • s c

Brown can temporarily claim that he’s ‘new’ and that his next vote won’t make him look like Specter or a McCain clone. If Brown turns out to be another RINO or an utralib progressive plant, it won’t take long for that to be obvious.
For now, let’s please not jump for joy or cry at what seems to be a McCain in sheep’s clothing (strutting his stuff so the whore media will line up to love him).
At least he’s not an obvious Obummer the Second (so far). Give him a chance. If he turns out to be another bastard child of a wannabe saul alinsky, then feed him to the wolves. Just because Brown got in the first time doesn’t mean he’ll get to become another suck-up, career politician who will sell out America to the lowest bidder.

  • Phil

The republican partys been nothing but a disaster for America..

    • Warrior

      Right on,

It all started when those Repubs started to migrate out of the major cities and had their garbage picked up by a single WM person instead of the 3 man trucks the patronage workers would operate.

    • Claire

Phil–I believe both parties have had a hand in this chaos. They are both at fault.

      • Phil

Claire… I can agree with that….I do blame president Clinton for allowing deregulation of lenders so he could get his housing bill passed… That said… Even with the deregulation where nobody was allowed to look at their books they had a responsibility not to give out bad loans just because they could get away with it…I’m also a little angry that nobodys going to jail for giving out those bad loans when they knew without a doubt a large part of them couldn’t afford the loans they got

        • Claire

I agree. There are a few politicians that need to be in jail but they are still on the loose. If I were to pull some of the shenanigans they have pulled, I would be behind bars right now. Look at Charlie Rangel, Tax evasion–what is being done about that? Look at Blago here in Illinois–that little snot should be behind bars. Look at all the politicians that have used taxpayers money for their little games and infidelities and they are still in office. Look at the politicians that belong to their little clubs (The Family) and they knowingly believe in some shady thinking/dealings. I could go on and on.

          • Claire

I do not like name-calling but I called Blago a snot. I guess I could have called him worse names.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
there should be company for Blaggo if he goes to jail, a very high placed Washington politico from Kenya!!!!

          • Claire

JoeH–Did you know Blago did not endorse Obama? I remember thinking at the time that it was odd. In checking back then I did find out that Blago did not like Obama and apparently Obama did not like him. And both Democrats. I still wonder about it.

          • Michael J.

            Claire,
I think Blago has the goods on Obama which gives him either a get out of jail free card or a sudden death from mysterious causes. It is the gangster way.

          • Claire

Michael J–Something is odd. Both of them being Democrat a person would think they would be all kissy-face huggy-bear. Blago rarely, if ever, mentions Obama and vice versa. You may be correct in what you say. The good old “gangsta” way of conducting “business.”

  • Bernard Lorkovic

The Truth is, there are no true Republicans in MA. Pro abortion, and spend , spend, SPEND! Just another Kennedy wanttabe.

    BPL

  • jim b

First of all they need to do away with payroll taxes and strictly use a consumption tax and that way you will just be taxed on what you use.
I get so tired of people bashing the unions and I worked in a U. A. W. [plant for 34 years and made a very good living with just a high school education.
The country was doing fine until the politicans started to allow corporations to move out of the country and enter the global economy in search of cheap labor and now in just a few short years their will be no middle class at all only the rich and the poor.
We used to produce a lot of things but today we are a service economy.
I,m 66 years old and this country is in bad shape and unfortunately I feel America has seen her best times

    • Peggy

I’m sorry that you dont like the unions getting bashed Jim B, but lets face the facts here.

The unions have nearly completely destroyed our industries. What was left of our industries (non-union) NAFTA, finished off.

Because YOU worked 34 years with a high-school education, YOU want to give all credit to the union? Ridiculous Jim! It was YOU Jim, YOU did it! And God bless you Jim, for doing what you are supposed to do.

But Jim, because you are a part of the union, you are a part of the problem. I don’t want to pay for your health-care Jim. I don’t want to pay for ANY entitlements you get Jim.

While you were on strike, greedily asking for more, more, more, the auto industry jobs were going away. You want to blame the politicians?

      …………………………………………………………….
“The country was doing fine until the politicans started to allow corporations to move out of the country and enter the global economy in search of cheap labor and now in just a few short years their will be no middle class at all only the rich and the poor.
We used to produce a lot of things but today we are a service economy.”
      …………………………………………………………….

Reading this again, really burns my bread. This country was doing fine, until the greedy unions “striked” and negotiated themselves out of jobs.
You complain of cheaper labor? Hows NO labor Jim? But you don’t have to worry Jim, you’ve managed to retire.

You are 66 Jim, and you have done your part in destroying this country. We used to produce a lot of things Jim, but because of the greedy unions, and NAFTA, we are now a third-world joke.

      All unions should be dissolved.

New Rule – If you are in the union, you don’t have the right to complain about, “where did the jobs go”? At least not without looking foolish.

      • Phil

Peggy, I don’t care what job you or your husband or anyone else on this site has… But you should thank Unions that you make enough in wages to get by… Unions set the pay standards in this country ( even non union shops).. Unions have protected workers on this country and set work place standards for safety…this country was built on the back of unions and without them you’d be at the mercy of management….do ya think their might be more sweat shops without unions..Jims not the problem… It’s greed…you sound line a champion for deregulation.. And it’s you that’s ruined this country…you hate goverment, rules, and unions… This country would be another China without unions and work standards …

        • Time

Phil, Yes your right, as well your also right about China, And guess what dude, China and India “don’t have unions” and guess what thats where all the jobs that used to be here in the US are now, and whats left will all be there soon.

Keep in mind the average wage per year in China is a bit higher than India now at $4800.00 per year. Now when was that the average wage in the US again? Can you say the 1950′s. So in just 50 years the Unions have helped move all the jobs right out of the US and to China and India.

So just as it has good points, it has just as many bad points.
          Keep that in mind.

          • Michael J.

            Time,
            Well said.

        • Peggy

Unions did a lot of good in the past….. and that is where the unions belong, in the past Phil.

All of this canned-argument-sappy-crap you are spewing about unions, belong to different times my friend. These times are far removed the time of the unsafe coal mine’s.

The fact is, with things like O.S.H.A., E.O.E..etc, the unions are NOT needed.

And Phil? This country was built on the backs of PEOPLE, not corrupt unions. Your unions which you claim built this country (BS) have effectively destroyed it. Being a part of the problem, you will never admit that the unions have re-renegotiated their way out of American jobs.

And now look at you Phil, with your hand-out, getting bailed-out. And at the expense of the people no less. You think you deserve what is essentially welfare? Do you actually think that people should thank you, Phil, the-union-shill?

          Concerning this….

          …………………………………………………………….

you hate goverment, rules, and unions…

          …………………………………………………………….

Really Phil, projecting? Here is what I hate Phil.

          I hate liars.

          I hate thieves.

          I hate corrupt politicians.

I hate people who make up the rules, then proceed to break them.

I hate for visitors NOT to sign the guest-book, which we have placed in convenient places (border crossings).

I hate corrupt unions, which have destroyed our industry in a much bigger way than N.A.F.T.A.

I hate N.A.F.T.A which dealt the killing-blow to our industry..(after being mortally wounded by the unions)

I hate whatever that white-thing is in pork-and-beans.

          And I hate liver.

          • cr747

The unions got so big that the Mafia took over them,,and that is when everything started down hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Joe H.

      jim b,
I will agree that 100 years ago that the unions helped stop unsafe work conditions, HELPED! the workers WERE the union then! Now the union is a bunch of thousand dollar suited mugs that the only time you see them is if they want to wring a few more bucks out of the boss or YOU!!! Do you think they really care about YOU??? don’t rediculous!! The only thing they care about is the all mighty buck…YOURS!!!!

  • MARIA

    Another backstabbing NWO whore !!!!!!

    • Claire

      Good grief.

  • Claire

So sorry–I clicked twice I guess. I hate that when it happens!! Well, at least the letters were not all caps.

    • Claire

Oh good–they deleted the extra post. Now I don’t feel goofy.

  • Phil

Two of the top 3 American presidents who were the biggest spenders in Americas history were republican…president Reagan and President Bush( W)…of course the republican leadership would rather have you pay their taxes….and of course they don’t want you to have the same socialist Healthcare they have…I’d give the republican leaders a little credibility if they refused their goverment healthcare… Anyone besides me believe it’s hypocritical to tell the American public that goverment healthcare is socialism then turnaround and except it for them and their familys..? Same with the Recovery Act funds…. They’re telling you( cause it sounds good) that the funds amount to socialism then accepting the funds for their states… Even saying it’s creating jobs… Any if you think youre being played?…republicans have used ” recovery act funds” more than 116 times…

    • Joe H.

      Philly,
What the hello do you think that Obummer is doing??? Dom you think that the dems want you on their helth care??? Thanks, I now know you didn’t look up HR 956 like I suggested! How do I know? It was co-sponsored by my republican congressman and a Dem congressman from the same state and it wanted the people on the same plan as the politicos and the DEM CONTROLLED congress tabled it so fast the ink arrived at the table a full sixty seconds later than the paper!!! now I know you are just a hack for the Dems and progressives!!!

  • sabre’

I trust Scott Brown. I believe he wants what is best for this country and his State!

  • Rod

Scott Brown SOLD OUT! He didn’t have the integrity to hold out and fight for a good jobs bill! Instead, he followed Reid right where Reid wanted him. To the radical left side of the isle. So far, I
give him a BIG “F” for his performance and am very sorry for the
people of his state! Lets see, now who said this? You can put lipstick
on a pig but the pig is still a pig!

  • Claire

To all here on this post. My husband and I went out to supper tonight and on the way back home, as we were going through a green light, we saw a man standing by the intersection with a big sign on his chest that read: NEED FOOD. I said oh, no and my husband said to me “get used to it, we’re going to see a lot more of it.” When my husband speaks like that, I really listen up and start to worry. He is a quiet man but when he says anything it always has merit. A bike trail is behind our house/backyard and we have seen an increased number of “homeless” people walking down this trail apparently heading for the interstate. We have seen other people at intersections here in town with signs that say “Will Work for Food.” My husband has also had our the outside doors to our house replaced with steel doors, dead bolts, etc. Our new garage door is a heavy metal-steel. He has done all this and never says too much about it but I know what he is thinking. My son’s house is secure. He bought it from a detective a few years ago and it has a double front door with decorative iron bars, and the same for the back doors and windows. His house is like a fortress. I have to admit this is making me rather apprehensive. I hope and pray every day that things will get better. But my gut feeling tells me otherwise.

    • Joe H.

      Claire,
Don’t get too safe sorry but I read about a house with steel doors on the garage and they cut through the door with a torch while the neighbors watch and “thought” the people had been called to do a repair!?!?!?!?

      • Claire

JoeH–Thanks, just what I needed!! No, you are correct in what you say. I have heard the same things. I have lived here for 32 years and grew older (I won’t say “old”) right along with my neighbors. We all watch out for each other. We always call each other if something is going to be done, etc. A lot of my neighbors are retired and are at home all day. My husband is retired so he is at home. We live in an unstable world now and we have to remain vigilent.

        • Claire

          “vigilant”

    • Michael J.

      Claire,
Prudence dictates planning for the worst while hoping for the best. Staying safe requires remaining alert. Good luck to you and your family.

      • Claire

Michael J—Hopefully by planning for the worst, good will prevail. I sure hope so. I can remember back in the 50s and 60s we left our keys in the ignition, never had to worry about crime. Never had to even think about locking our doors. Never had to think about being mugged. What a different world we live in now.

        • Michael J.

          Claire,
Fond memories keep us aware of a possible future. My family has been helping to build this nation for 330 years. I owe it to my ancestors to continue the fight.

          • Claire

Michael J–I can no longer imagine a world without crime, greed, hate, and the like. But, like you said we all must continue the fight. Surely, goodness will prevail.

          • Joe H.

            Michael,
As my father always said expect the worst and pray for the best. that way if the worst happens you are prepared!!!

          • Claire

Joe H– Your comments are right on the mark. At least I am prepared. And I certainly will pray for the best.

  • Bill

I’m sorry Scott did this, hope he is not a Kennedy

  • jim

I guess we have Scott Brown, who I may not always agree with, but we could have had his opponant, Whom I would have NEVER agreed with. That must be what they meen by compramise. I really can’t think of any two people that ever agreed 100% of the time.

    • Claire

jim–Yes, we could have had his opponent. And thankfully she was not elected. She is a classic example to never take anything for granted.

      • Warrior

That stupid guy Bunning is holding up the $15 bil Jobs Bill all by himself. Something about where is the money going to come from or budget cuts to cover the costs? This guy is so stupid.

  • http://k.bet@hotmail.com DB

Do you ever think that Scott Brown is nothing more than a plant for the demo’s

    • Warrior

Not really. No self respecting true dem would ever be caught driving a pick up truck with 200K miles on odometer. He’s some sort of hybrid!

  • MOMSRIGHT

Sick! We’ve been duped again to think that any politition cares more about the people of the US then they do themselves! When will they ever learn? More Government solutions are not the answer! Scale back big Government cut taxes and let the ingenuity of the American people raise to the top! Goverment can’t create jobs they only create more programs, which creates more government! More government becomes more oppressive to its people!

  • Max

Mary Jane invites persons “new” to this country to read the Constitution. Rather, most Americans are “new” to their very own Constitution. They know virtually nothing about it. How many of you have even read it? How many of you have copies on your desk right now?
How many of you have written letters to the current occupier of the White House, denouncing his un-Constitutional stealing from the possessions and effects of We the People– in direct violation of Amendment IV of the Constitution? How many of you have checked out impeachobamacampaign.com? The flag of American patriots reads, “Don’t Tread On Me.”

  • mariposa55

The “new” job bill is just another way to pay off the unions. The new job bill doesn’t require a company to do an e-verify to see if the employee is a legal resident of the USA. That is what I am more upset with. Brown will need to start reading between the lines and realize how tricky members of Congress are in writing these bills.

    • usmadgirl

      mariposa55,

I think the problem is that the bills are NOT being written by Congress, but instead by special interest groups, like members of the Apollo Alliance (Wade Rathke of Acorn, Van Jones, Mark Lloyd, members of SEIU – Andy Stearn, Gerald Hudson, Jeff Jones) – O-dumbo’s radical thugs who wrote the first worthless “stimulus bill”!

And the “left” wonders why we’re so angry!

  • mariposa55

Why don’t we all send all members of Congress and the White House a copy of the Constitution. But then again, they don’t care about real Americans.

    • Joe H.

      mariposa55,
Why? Do you think they would read it any better than the 2000 page bills before them now????

  • DaveH

If you try to navigate the Senate Web site to find a bill, you will probably be bewildered (as I was). I was trying to find the Bill number for the subject Bill (jobs bill). First of all very few articles on the bill give the bill number and real name. It’s like finding a needle in the haystack. Do they purposely make it obscure so we the people can’t get information on the bills? We need to get back to simpler government where the voters know what is really going on. Most of our Representatives probably don’t even know.
Anyway, I think this is the one for those of you who would like to read the text of the bill and see who voted for it:
    http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00025
Pick the link “H.R. 2847″ to get to the text of the bill.

    • Warrior

Appears from looking over the provisions of HR 2847 that the majority of funding goes to existing fed programs.

    • usmadgirl

      DaveH,

I went to this site last night. The only way I knew how to even START was I knew the DAY they voted on the Jobs Bill lie. I just wanted to see if Bob Corker voted “yea” along with my other Repub. senator, Lamar Alexander, whom I knew had voted for it! He didn’t so he has a 100% record for voting my views. I knew that 13 Republicans had sold their souls. Of course Olympia-the-RINO-Snowe was one of them (imagine that).

I don’t see how they know what they’re voting on…period! I glanced at just a couple of items in the infinite lists & thought my eyes were going to bleed!

      • Joe H.

        USmadgirl,
As Glenn Beck says that’s what they make duct tape for!!!!

  • Pat Pappenfus

Senator Browns comment about “The bill wasn’t perfert..but”…

Senator..if it could have been a better bill, you gave the right to doing just that by voting yes and settling for less than perfect. If a bill can be made better you owe it to the taxpayers to make it a better bill.

  • Meteorlady

“Not perfect but”……… That’s a great way to vote for something. Why not ask to change a few things or make it better before running across the isle and voting. The bill is window dressing and is spending more of my hard earned money on another inept government run program.

    • Joe H.

      Lady,
when he is sent to hell, he will probably say ain’t perfect,but…..

  • Lovey2

Another disappointment. I hope to God he’s not a RINO but if he is there’s always the “NEXT” election. I also think we should just start making it part of the process since they won’t, we should vote them out after 2 terms no matter what. That way they’ll know we mean business and no one “KENNEDY” types “OWNS” a seat in the government ever. And if they don’t cut the mustard the 1st term out they go. I am so done with these lying politicians, I want to stick my head out the window and yell I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore. And I’m not going to take it anymore with every chance I get to vote.
