Sarah Palin To Allow Media Coverage For Tea Party Convention Speech

January 19, 2010 by

Sarah Palin to allow media coverage for Tea Party convention speechAs the Tea Party movement prepares for its first national convention, Sarah Palin, who will deliver the keynote address during the event, has decided to allow press coverage of her appearance.

The former Alaska governor’s decision raised some eyebrows as she had previously rejected an invitation to speak at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, seen as a more high profile event. However, commentators have interpreted the move as her attempt to cast herself as the potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate of the high-energy, anti-establishment movement, Politico.com reported.

Still, it appears that media coverage of the event will be limited as Tea Party Nation, which organizes the event, has said this will be a "working meeting" and stated it lacks the resources to accommodate the many members of the press who requested credentials.

In the end, only Fox News, Breitbart.com, Townhall.com, The Wall Street Journal and World Net Daily have received accreditations.

The National Tea Party Convention will take place Feb. 4 through 6 in Nashville, Tenn. Congresswomen Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) will also be speaking.

The movement was launched last year in response to the massive stimulus package passed by Congress and signed by President Obama. Its website specifies that Tea Party Nation is a group of like-minded people who want to preserve God-given individual freedoms introduced by the Founding Fathers and who believe in limited government, free speech, the Second Amendment, the military and secure borders.

I don’t think this means she is running for anything, but it is time to get the conservative’s point across, and since she is a popular speaker, the press wants to hear what she is saying. This is a good thing. Since only 5 News Groups have been accredited to be there, it also shows that they are being thoughtful of who will report the truth. This may come as a big surprise, but not all news agencies report the truth, they slant it or make fun of who they are reporting on, especially if it is a conservative they are reporting on.

Right now, Sarah Palin is a great spokeswoman for our conservative values and I say good for her. For those who are against her she can do nothing right. However, she is learning more and more each day. No one ever started out great, they became great, and I think she will too.

    • Deport Them All

Crooks like her will become great. It is a shame people won’t look at her record of screwing Alaskans on pipeline deals.

Did you finish High School? Where were you born? Are you an American? Your comment is very foolish.

      • DaveH

What did you finish Cordell? Let’s see a rebuttal instead of a childish personal attack.

    • Tim Coggins

Marsha Blackburn is my representative as well.

While she has a Regan conservative talk, she has a liberal leaning walk. After very light investigation, I have become convinced that this lady is a career politician concerned more with how she is best served than the people and country. I for one am ready to put someone in the office that will demand that the voice of the people from the Great State of Tennessee be heard without regard to whether it might cost them a seat on the House sub-committee on ___ (fill in the blank, with the meaningless committee of your choice).

As for Sarah Palin, who this article is about, I applaud her strongly and loudly. There seems to be no compromise between her convictions and record. When she says something she means it and acts accordingly. When something alters her opinions, she will say so, explain why, and battle on. She is fighting the good fight.

      • eyeswideopen

Tim, you are right, she knows exactly when to quit. That means: college, appointed/ elected offices. She is an excellent quitter!!!! She is in it for the money. If not, she would have fulfilled her term, and started the education process to learn more about government and gobal affairs. She saw a way to make money and jumped on it. Good for her, however don’t put on a front about policies, as she is just money movitated.

  • pfwag

One of the most interesting things about Palin is that she drives the liberals nuts. It will be fun to see their reaction.

  • Cordell Ferrell

Liberal Media has lost viewers to Fox Network, therefore losing money. Sarah Palin is a very attractive Conservative Candidate for President and that is a threat to Liberals. Their only weapon is the use of casting ASPERSIONS on Sarah Palin. Liberals doesn’t have any Character and has lost all credibility with the American people. Obama is a Liar and wants to implement Socialism into our way of life. All Democrat Senators are TRAITORS to the majority of the voters and willing to accept bribes in lieu of re-election, these bribes are TAXPAYERS MONEY.

No profanity please, its not appropriate.

  • flip4truth

You should listen to a liberal, they are your best example of runaway Government, the loss of truth and Freedom. Marsha Blackburn is an example of big Government at work. Focus on defeating those that helped the Traitors in Congress. The Constitution is the law of this Republic, keep it that way and bring the Traitors to it’s Justice. PALIN!!!

At least she practices transparency. Very few former and current elected politicians have the guts to stand up in public and speak their minds and convitions. Whether you agree or disagree with her, you have to admit, she has more guts than all the politicians put together. I applaud her courage and honesty when speaking about America even thou I do not agree with everything that she has to say.

  • http://ja-js.blogtownhall.com RME KRNL

I wish POLITICO.com and others who comment on the TEA Party movement and activities would stop referring to it as “anti-establishment.” TEA Partiers, of which I have been one for some time now, are not against the government as an establishment. That would make us anarchists, which we are not. We’re just against the government as a “too big, too overreaching” establishment.

Referring to us as anti-establishment is just about as inaccurate as those liberals, politicians and press, who try to deride and dismiss us by persisting in using the term “teabaggers,” which when done unintentionally reveals their unconscious bias and when done intentionally reveals their petty, small-minded snarkiness.

    • Robert

From one American to another, this is our right. To petition the government that we do not agree with their actions is in our constitutional right. To those who would dismiss any group for voicing their political opinions, take gas or move to Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, China,or anyone of the many countries in this world that subjugate their citizens to meaningless slaves. Take heart my friend, there are many in this country that respect your right and freedom to voice your opinion than those who don’t.

    • DaveH

It is typical for Big Government advocates to deride anybody who wants Limited Government as being an “anarchist”. It is just a form of manipulation. We need to point that out whenever it occurs.

  • floyd

I think Sarah Palin would make a good president for this Country. But we have to be careful with a 3 party race. I’m afraid of the possibility of the vote being divided up. whereby The Muslim could be re-elected. Im worried about our future as it is now. Another 4 years of him being in power, God help us.

    • DaveH

      Floyd,
If neither party represents the will of the people what are we to do? The Government has just grown ever-larger under both major parties. If we split the vote, then so-be-it. It’s time to start electing people who promise to shrink the Government. If the Republicans can field those candidates then fine. Personally I doubt that will ever occur, as Republicans also like Big Government. They just have a different agenda of control than the Democrats do.

If you want less Government, there really is only one party that can get it done – The Libertarian Party.
      http://libertarianparty.org/platform

The Libertarians believe in the kind of freedom and Limited Government that our forefathers advocated.

      • Irish

“If neither party represents the will of the people what are we to do?”

Change the parties. Lord knows the progressives have succeeded in doing that.

Conservatism wins. We(the people)can drag the rest of the moderate (progressive)Republicans kicking and screaming until they drop out or voted out. One things for certain. Status quo isn’t going to stand… There are way to many Americans awake.

  • SusieQ

Sarah Palin isn’t interested in being president. Where’s the money in that? Sarah is all about what she can get and she wants money. I wonder if she’s getting paid for her ‘media’ coverage or if that’s just a freebie she threw in with her speaking engagement…which, has some moeny in it somewhere. Bet on it.

    • MW

Dear SusieQ: You’re are totally wrong in saying that there is no money in being president of the US! Look at the Clintons. When Bill was running for president in 1992, he & Hillary claimed a net worth of less than $500,000. He was only paid $35,000 a year as govenor of Arkansas. Hillary was pulling in about $150,000 per annum as a partner
of the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock. Recent estimates now put their total net worth in excess of $50 million! Keep in mind that Bill now receives a pension of $100,000 a year (for life) & Hillary’s salary as Secretary of State is almost $200,000 annually. Plus all those great perks that go with it at taxpayer expense. Even Richard Nixon, who resigned in disgrace back in 1974 left a multi million dollar estate. Being president of the US is one sure way to accumulate a lot of wealth. Another example is Lyndon Johnson (LBJ) who use to let all of us know back then that he was just a poor Texas boy who just happened to become president (under the worst possible circumstance,I might add). Yet he accumulated millions of $$$ after leaving the presidency in 1969 & dying just four years later in 1973. I can tell you right now, even if Obama is a one term president, it will be his ticket to a life of affluence only a few people ever experience!

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

      You betcha SusieQ.
Palin is a quitter and she races after the money. Her people knows she acts like she’s for the people since she does not know what to do or say, so she lets them tell her how to act. A proxy vote is better than none at all. On the surface she acts like she’s working for the people. Dumb like a FOX, but pulling the wool over all eyes.

      • Jana

DeeD, You just wish that were true. But it isn’t.

    • Mollie

And you know this because……? Sounds as though you are just running your mouth with hot air from your empty head.

  • clay barham

We can simplify the debate. Obama said community interests are more important than are individual interests, and in this we find the differences between tyranny of the elite few over the many and individual freedom. There are only those two sides. Obama relates to the oldest, longest-running political system in the world, against the newest formed almost 400 years ago and proven worthy of a free people since, in America only. Those who look for fault in the Tea Party movement, anywhere along the line, are the same ones who decry the citizen’s right to be a vigilante when authority violates his or her rights earned so well in America. See Save Pebble Droppers & Prosperity on claysamerica.com.

  • James

Well…you all just be sure to remember who the politician is that REALLY has had his hands on all of the money! Dump Ozama! Dump his cronies, too! DO NOT support ANY progressive.

    • Jana

James, And that is exactly what they are Progressives. So is Hillary C. Progressivism is wrong for our country.

  • jack

you seem to be ignorant of the fact tghat both of you rpolitical parties are big gov, big spernding and yunending wars. You bad moputhing of the democrats is just dumb, when you look at the record of the former Republican president who created more government department and grew the government and the debt , so why arn’t the ERpublicans denigtrated for BIG gov.?
From a Canadian point of view, your system of a phoney left/right paradigm is just a soory joke. You economy is failibng, you are losibng the wars, your CIA and other criminlas are still killing, maiming and assassinating people areounf d the world while the Dept. of Dwefense/WAR can’t fing 2 TRILLION bucks that vanished from their budget.
I thibnk if any of you took an un-biased look at your system you would leave the USA before the dolklar fails and you are on the street with the otherr millions of homeless and hoopel;ess American idiots

are you a disgruntled democrat? maybe one of the draft dodgers from the u.s.

You’re probably right, Canadians spell better.

        • DaveH

That’s funny, isn’t it? His comment is a grammatical and spelling disaster. And he calls us “idiots”.

          • coal miner

            DaveH,

Can’t You see that Jack is doing that on purpose? Those are deliberate typing errors.

    • http://naver Brady

Well Jack, the one thing that surprises me is your ability to say you are a Canadian, which means you were taught English in school, but you misspelled so many of your words. Are you sure you at least graduated high school? Maybe you’re one of those ghetto people who tend to drop out of school and instead of taking accountability for your actions, you blame everything else? It is true that we have a 2 party system, not restricted to 2 parties, but how the 2 parties believe are different in many ways. The GOP tends to believe in smaller government, tax cuts, and a strong military. The DEM tends to believe in supporting these social programs never intended by our founding fathers or in any of our founding documents.
Yes, it is true that Bush instituted the Department of Homeland Security and TSA, but these were created with the protection of the American populace in mind. Obama’s many czars can bypass congress and take away their right to counsel and vote on certain bills that go through the process in Washington, D.C. It is true that our government isn’t perfect, but let’s not forget how bad Canada is at this time. When our economy went down, so did yours. Canadians invest heavily in America, because Canada only has limited resources and America has unlimited resources from around the world.
I’m also proud to say that I served 20 years in the military, even in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don’t rightly recall any pround, patriotic Canadians there. I never saw any soldier from Canada fighting for these people’s freedom or their protection from these insane fools that wish to destroy the world for the sake of their false god “Allah.” As far as our FBI and CIA killing people around the world, all I can say is that the people they tend to send to the here after, deserve what they get. We take out terrorists before they come to the U.S. or one of our allies. We are currently helping European countries find these “cells” they have and take them out first, hopefully before they can do anything to innocent civilians. I really don’t see Canada doing anything except sitting back on their fat butts, complaining about many things, and your Prime Minister Martin trying to install a North American Union. Which, by the way, would destroy both of our countries freedoms and monetary systems. Before you go calling my country a bunch of idiots, maybe you should look at your country first. If your people need medical care, where do they go? They come to the U.S.A. Why? It’s probably because of the limits that your government puts on its physicians about how many operations they can perform in a month, the cost of their practice, etc. Why? Because your health care system is broke and cares nothing about the people who depend on it. Thank you very much and the next time you have something to say about my country, I suggest that you do some serious studying by reading the newspapers, books, or maybe looking on the unreliable internet. If you actually did something with you brain, other than sit on it, you would understand what I’m trying to say. If anyone has a comment, please make it in good taste.

      • DaveL

Brady where did you get your information from? The US has more resources than Canada? The US has more? Really? Where do you think 50% of your oil comes from? Canada has way more natural resources still in the ground than the US ever had. Do a little research.

You don’t recall seeing any Canadians in Afghanistan? Over 100 men and women in the Canadian military have died in Afghanistan. That includes four men who died because an American pilot, high on amphetamines crapped his pants when he saw a live-fire practice on dropped a 500-pound bomb on his Canadian allies. The Canadian airforce was in the Operation Desert Storm and so was our navy. (Yes, we decided not to go to the phony “oil war” or Gulf War 2.) Canada invented peace keeping and if you haven’t seen the Canadian military around the world in your 20 year career, maybe you should pull your head out of your @ss.

I don’t know a single Canadian that wants to be in a union with US, we’ve been screwed enough with your softwood lumber bullsh!t, tariffs against our wheat and your absolute defiance of the Boundary Waters Treaty, just to name a few. It’s too bad that NAFTA forces us to sell you our oil, we could get a better price somewhere else. Oh and smart guy, our Prime Minister’s name is Harper not Martin. Talk about picking-up a newspaper, Martin hasn’t been the Prime Minister of Canada since 2006. Where do you get YOUR news from, cave paintings? AND stop trotting out the nonsense that Canadians flock to the US for healthcare, the numbers are miniscule and your prices are ridiculous. I trust my comments were in good taste.

      • DaveL

Brady… this is from Wikipedia, but I thought ALL military people knew this,

“The longest range recorded for a sniper kill currently stands at 2,430 meters (2,657 yd, or 1.51 miles), accomplished by Master Corporal Rob Furlong, a sniper from Newfoundland, Canada, in March 2002 during the war in Afghanistan. Furlong made this record-breaking kill while he was participating in Operation Anaconda. He was a member of the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). To make the kill, he used a .50 caliber BMG (12.7 mm) McMillan TAC-50 bolt-action rifle. And YOU didn’t see any Canadians in Afghanistan?

      • DaveL

Brady… I forgot to mention that YOUR army awarded Master Corporal Furlong a Bronze Star. The US Army knows that Canadians were Afghanistan, Iraq and they also highly praised the Canadians efforts in Kosovo. How come YOU don’t this?

        • DaveL

That should read “How come YOU don’t know this.”

      • Curtis S

Hello Brady? Brady? Picking on Jack was easy, but why haven’t you responded to literate Canadian yet? Brady? Are you there Brady?

    • Jana

jack, who is the ignorant one here??

  • Rod

Sarah Palin is a GREAT lady. A HOOT and a HOLLER! I really wish her the best. Go Sarah!!!!

  • Curtis S

Hahaha… Are you guys serious? This is the biggest glass of kool-aid I’ve ever seen this website pour! “In the end, only Fox News, Breitbart.com, Townhall.com, The Wall Street Journal and World Net Daily have received accreditations.” Only FIVE “media outlets” have received accreditation?? Well actually it’s only Four media outlets since Faux News and “The Wall Street Journal” are owned by Rupert Murdoch. Then again, Breitbart.com founder, Andrew Breitbart, is often employed by Faux News AND “The Wall Street Journal” so it seems Sarah’s media coverage is just three different flavors of her puppet master, Rupert Murdoch. Funny thing. Townhall.com is owned by Salem Communications a Christian broadcaster. Salem shares a lot of talent with Faux news, like Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller and Mike Gallagher.
To recap, FauxNews and The Wall Street Journal are directly controlled by Rupert Murdoch. Rupert Murdoch pays a good chunk of Andrew Breibart’s annual salary and the owner’s of Townhall.com and Rupert Murdoch share a number of “radio personalities” (note: they DON’T call ‘em journalists or reporters). So who is WorldNetDaily? Does Rupert pull their strings too? A quick surf over to WND and what pops up? A link to Breitbart.com!! What an incestuous clusterbop Sarah’s media coverage is!!
Hahaha This is Fair and balanced? Hahaha Media coverage 40% OWNED by Rupert Murdoch and another 40% in PARTNERSHIP with Rupert Murdoch. This is a “No Spin Zone”? What happened to that constitution you all claim to love? Freedom of the Press anyone? Sarah Palin, Sarah Puppet, not much difference. All of you guys scream about the Nazi’s yet not one of you is denouncing this blatant propaganda. Not a single one of you is questioning Sarah’s credibility with her puppet master’s hand-picked media and this puff-ball coverage. Do any of you think there is going to be any constructive criticism of Palin after this? Do any of you have the cajones to stand-up and say that this represents everything you claim to be against? It was wrong for Joseph Goebbles but it’s okay for Rupert Murdoch? Are you all going to be sheep or will some of you stand-up and insist that your intelligence NOT be insulted by this load of… kool-aid. Good luck. hahaha

Let me give you the perspective of an Alaskan, re: Sarah Palin:
It happened that I didn’t vote in the gubenatorial election in which Alaskan elected her. Won’t go into reasons for my lack of voting, it doesn’t matter. Fact is, had I voted I would have voted for her.
However, after she was elected as governor, the first thing she did was to declare the oil companies to be the enemy.
Now, before she was governor she was mayor of the city of Wasilla. She had a dispute with the librarian there, wanting to censor some books. The librarian wouldn’t do it, and Palin, subsequently fired her. A grass roots movement forced Palins hand, and the librarian was reinstated several months later.
One of Palins first gubenatorial acts was to fire the Top Cop of the state. This man had found no reason to fire a trooper who was in the throes of a nasty divorce with Palins sister. A coincidence? Maybe—I personally doubt it, though.
Next? Palin took a pact negotiated by her predecessor for building a gas line from the North Sloope to the lower part of Alaska, and came up with something entirely new, called AGIA—Alaska Gasline Incentive Act. This act had as an effect, paying a foreign company at least one half BILLION dollars, and as much as one and a half BILLION dollars to study the feasability of building such a gasline. This company had no gas to move, no leases to get gas to move, and must rely on the actual producers of North Slope gas to have a product to move through their imaginary pipeline, but Alaska is now required to pay them all of that money, with nada as far as actually building the pipeline, nor pushing a product through it. Looks like a backroom thing to me! Atop those things she pushed through the legislature the HIGHEST percentage of tax increase of all time AGAINST the oil companies. This has the effect of removing any incentive to even bother with developing the resources, etc.
A TRANSPARENT administration? Doesn’t seem that way to me! A CONSERVATIVE administration? That’d be about the last thing I’d call it! Higher taxes than even the worst Democrat governor ever. Pitching a half billion dollars (or, possibly as much as 3 times that) to a foreign company? Behind closed doors firing of her top cop? Adding more and more layers of government on us? More restrictions on persons and personal liberties?
I don’t care what Limbaugh says about her, or the other “consrevative talk show hosts” as they drool over her, she is light years from being either transparent, OR, conservative!
If you want a potential president who will complete the theft of our liberties for Commie Obama, go ahead and label her conservative and have her elected. I’d rather she kayak to Russia, then trek on over to Moscow, and stay there. She fits the image of the presidents there from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
