    Lenore Zimmerman: TSA ‘Strip-Searched’ Me

    First Posted: 12/ 3/11 10:23 AM ET Updated: 12/ 3/11 06:49 PM ET

Lenore Zimmerman, an 85-year-old woman from Long Beach, Long Island is threatening to sue the TSA after what she claims was a bloody strip-search by the agency. First, God, my Lord (you) have mercy on this senior citizen. Secondly, I hope that she sues that “evil enterprise” called the TSA.

Consider this comment by Congressman Ron Paul on his weekly update for July 4th 2011 about the TSA: “The press reports are “horrifying”; 95 year old women humiliated, children molested, disabled people abused, men and women subjected to unwarranted groping and touching of their most private areas and involuntary radiation exposure. If the perpetrators were a gang of criminals their headquarters would be raided by SWAT teams and armed Federal Agents. Unfortunately in this case, the perpetrators are armed Federal Agents. This is the “sorry” situation ten years after the creation of the Transportation Security Agency (TSA). The requirement that Americans be forced to undergo this appalling treatment simply for the privilege of traveling in their own country reveals much about how the Federal Government feels about our liberties. The unfortunate fact that we put up with this does not speak well for our [un]willingness to stand up to an abusive government. Many Americans continue to fool themselves into accepting TSA abuse by saying ‘I don’t mind giving up my freedoms for security’. In fact though, they are giving up their liberties and not receiving security in return”.

Congressman Paul continued, “Last week for example just days after an elderly cancer victim was forced to submit to a cruel and pointless TSA search, including the removal of an adult diaper, a Nigerian immigrant somehow managed to stroll through TSA security checks and board a flight from New York to LA with a stolen expired boarding pass and an out-of-date student ID as his sole identification. He was detained and questioned only to be released to do it again five days later”.

Then Congressman Paul said, “We should not be surprised to find this government ineptitude and indifference at the TSA”. Congressman Paul would introduce “the American Traveler Dignity Act, which establishes that airport security screeners are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person; making images of another person or causing physical harm through the use of radiation emitting machinery on another person. It means that they are not above laws the rest of us must obey”. The Congressman hoped that the rest of his colleagues in the House (of Representatives) will listen to their constituents and join with him to support this legislation. To view the text of the congressman’s speeches go to: under the heading “Texas Straight Talk”.

Conclusively, I would like to see that the Constitutional safeguards we share as Americans be protected. Today, millions of Americans allow their liberties to be violated under the guise that that will keep them safe. However, only your natural and Constitutional liberties can assure you of any safety, not a “police state” under martial-like laws that violate those liberties. Note that once you give up your liberties, you will not get it back! Therefore, I say that Lenore Zimmerman, that 85-year-old woman from Long Beach, Long Island must have her day in court in order to fight for her Constitutional rights as a citizen of these United States. Please call your Congressmen/women and Senators to complain about this awful assault on our Constitutional rights. I also hope that Mrs. Zimmerman enjoys her winter stay at Coconut Creek, Florida unhindered by the TSA.
