Romney Edges Obama In New Hampshire Poll

April 26, 2011 by

Romney edges Obama in New Hampshire pollA new poll of New Hampshire voters has revealed that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney holds a significant advantage over President Barack Obama.

According to the State of the State survey, which was conducted by Dartmouth College's Nelson A. Rockefeller Center, approximately 47 percent of respondents said they would vote for Romney in the 2012 Presidential election, compared to 39 percent for Obama.

Romney, who on April 11 announced that he was forming an exploratory committee for the GOP Presidential bid, was the only Republican to edge Obama in the poll. The nation's commander-in-chief led former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee by 8 percentage points, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty by 19, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour by 19 and billionaire Donald Trump by 22.

Although Obama handily defeated Barbour and Pawlenty in the poll, he failed to take a majority of the vote against both rumored candidates.

Voters in the Granite State are "not willing to make a claim for Obama when they don't even know the other person," said Ronald Shaiko, a Dartmouth professor, quoted by Politico.com.

Trump, who is one of the most talked-about figures in the field of potential GOP candidates, recently predicted that Romney would lose in a general election against Obama. In an interview with The Daily Beast, the reality TV star said that Romney "doesn't resonate" because his speeches are full of "little trivial statements."

It is sad to say that Romney, Palin, Huckabee, and others who lost to
McCain, are losers already. (What part of globalist is missing here?)
The old GOP lineup is full of politicians who want to keep up the same old Bush tradition of keeping our military in the middle east, spending
our children’s inheritance on boogieman scares of the same tired Al-CIADA. Look, bring the Military home, use them to secure the borders and ports. Shut down the FED and default on the debt that the feds are holding over our heads. (It had no value anyway and a huge percentage is just interest owed on ancient bad loans. Cut them loose and start fresh again. Keep lobbyists away from politicians again!
Keep campaign money legit and equal time for ALL runners to the highest office on C-Span instead of those networks that placate to their golden boys. If that fails, use alternative media to educate the younger vote.
Move Israel out of the middle east. The land is no longer theirs. The US and Great Britain moved them there. There is 10,000 square miles of prime real estate on our southern border they can relocate and their IDF would be prime to secure that border.
Problem 1 solved…secure and safe border
problem 2 solved…Jewish element removed from Arab lands.
problem 3 solved…Immigration will be more equitable after the illegals return because our restructured economy supports taxpaying citizens only and applying for citizenship will be enforced. The IDF will secure the border from Zetas and illegal human trafficking.
problem 4 solved…The FED is Dissolved and now we cand control our own national spending/investment and have private industry build new factories, drill once again for our own nation prosperity, and rebuild a gold/silver based economy and separate Oil revenues from market values.
The above listed would be a mere start, small businesses will get a new jump start and globalists need not apply until our economy gets back to where it once was before the Federal Reserve Act destroyed our nation.

    • Lastmanstanding

Allen…what you have said may have alot of merit.

Reality is that progressives have taken over our nation or damn close to it. They don’t have the balls to do it out right because of our right to keep and bear arms…slowly chipping away at all aspects of our freedom.

Ron Paul may be our last ditch effort. God, keep Ron and his family safe from these evil bastards that have run our country to the brink of slavery…again.

People of the USA who stand by the US Constitution are the only way out.

      • Mick

        Lastmanstanding

The more I look and listen to many arguments the closer I get to voting for Ron Paul if given an opportunity. This two party system has created a disaster in our own back yard, both parties are more concerned about trashing one another that to try to solve America’s problems , Democrats keep pushing their sick agenda with no possibility of change and the Republicans keep giving in to those bastards,,,,Time to stand against the prominent Democrat’s corruption.

      • Allen in reality

LastManStanding, I do concur with the safekeeping with Ron Paul. I have
seen where the smear campaigns are mounting on him. Poor Ron is always portrayed as a non substantive candidate that is targeted on Social Security and not once do they allow him to address the welfare freebee problems that exist. The disbandment of the FED is what ended Kennedy and these Globalists will try to first discredit any constitutionalists and that fails, the hit-men will surely be dispatched. Ron Paul is my immediate choice and I believe Donald Trump will not sacrifice his wealth to oppose the globalist Bilderbergers and Rothschilds. God help us all if Ron gets into serious trouble. Good post

        • Michael J.

Allen, in reality what is needed is a preemptive strike on the elite. Special delivery lights-out for seven unelected, faceless, nameless trillionares who desire the power of life and death over six billion would-be-slaves is justifiable in any righteous man’s mind.

        • Lastmanstanding

Allen. It dawned on me the other day. Ron is just like us, a regular guy that wants to be left alone…Now, the regular guy and the family that he has worked so hard to provide for is the problem.

We are racist, greedy, rich, etc. Whatever…the elites, nwo, bankers, politicians want us to give up everything…I’m ready and waiting.

Just remember…God gave the jews an ultimatum if they wanted their land…my bet is he will do it again. No one was born to be enslaved…God help us.

      • JIBBS

I agree, Ron Paul is the only hope we have.

      • barbm

i read last night that ron paul’s other son, robert, is going to run. wonder if he has any more!! :) we can use all we can get. did anybody notice his name wasn’t listed as a possible candidate? the only way i’d vote for romney is if he was the only alternative to o.

        • barbm

should’ve given a bit more info. kay bailey hutchison is not running again as texas senator. robert paul is seriously considering running. he has my vote!!

          • Carlucci

And thank goodness Kay Bailey Hutchinson isn’t running again. Can’t stand that mealy-mouthed woman. She’s a total Bush-brown-nosing-dyed -in-the-wool-career-status-quo-politician RINO. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Buh-bye Kay -!! Don’t let the door knob hit cha where the good Lord split cha!

      • crystal

I think Ron Paul would have a chance if he runs on the Republican ticket. The result would be not to split the vote. Then again I could be wrong.

  • Carlucci

Putting Romney or any other RINO in the White House will just be more politics as usual. Yuck.

    • Patty

You are so correct! Don’t you love the way they line them up and slowly feed us “their” candidate while quietly eliminating the competition from media view.
PS-Did you or Tamera give me the heads up on LemiShine? GREAT STUFF!
Whichever of you put that out there, I thank you!

      • Carlucci

Patty – I posted the suggestion about LemiShine. Glad you like it.

  • Robin from Arcadia, IN

I for one am sick of politicians. The Tea Party was refreshing because it gave us hope that we could break free from the same old stuff. Anyone would be better as POTUS than Obama, but I don’t think Mitt is our man. I look to see Donald Trump gain more momentum as it gets closer to the selection process. Time will tell.

    • Bud Tugly

Written for the other topic but equally relevant here:

Let’s face it, most politicians on both sides are laughable. They strut and posture. They talk the talk they think will arouse some voters based on their handlers ill-perceptions of public attitudes. They live for media exposure and photo ops that have little to do with their real activities. They create of themselves shallow characters from B-movies and foist this thin veneer of patriotism and respectability on the American people while stuffing their pockets and kissing up to whatever special interest is funding their campaign.

Remember the story of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”? Most politicians are just like the pompous naked ruler, so afraid of being perceived as stupid that they unknowingly flaunt their stupidity.

Be wary of politicians trying to get your support by talking the talk you want to hear. Look a little deeper and you are likely to find what the honest child in the fairy tale saw… a self serving buffoon.

Whether it’s Obama or Palin, Rohm Emanuel or Rand Paul, they are all selling snake oil. Buyer beware.

  • Doc Sarvis

At least Romney has a decent health care plan for MA.

    • Raggs

Doc… Why don’t you do us all a favor and move to Cuba?

      • Doc Sarvis

        I love America.

        • Patty

Doc-”If you love something set it free. If it comes back to you, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, it never was.”
If you truly love America, than set her free.

          • Doc Sarvis

            America – she is free.

          • Patty

Not any longer. Not to me. Too many rules, laws, taxes for me to consider this a free nation any longer. Hopefully, we will be able to turn this garbage barge of politics around and strictly follow our constitution without having others re-write it. Kind of like the other people were blogging in another forum about the bible. 3,000 years of interpretations.

      • JIBBS

Don’t waste your time with Doc, he expects those that have, to supply those that don’t. 150 years ago, these lazy leeche’s would have died off by now. There some that need help, but alot that need to be stopped from sucking off the teet’s of those of us that work. If you don’t put money in the bank, you don’t take any out. If you don’t want to work, you starve. I’m just fed up with providing a living for lazy welfare people and other countrie’s that hate us, along with protecting their boarders and not our own.

    • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Doc… How will Obamacare and Romneycare fare against each other? Will there be a conflict?

      • Doc Sarvis

I only know Romney’s plan in general terms so I could not offer a fair assessment. I do have a relative and several coworkers in MA and they like the MA health care plan.

        • Raggs

I don’t doubt you have been on the dole for a lifetime.

          • Doc Sarvis

I have Never received any sort of welfare, medicade, food stamps, or any other sorts of public assistance if that is what you are suggesting.

          • Raggs

Come on doc.. you don’t milk the system like all other regressives?
Expecting to get something for nothing is the game plan isn’t it?

          • Doc Sarvis

Raggs, perhaps that is how you live – not me.

          • Eddie47d

Raggs and JIBBS automatically assume that about all liberals. Raggs seldom thinks outside that box so is that a one track mind?

          • Eddie47d

. .. … and JIBBS Ron Paul would be great but how do you convince the American voter of that. Shouldn’t he quit the Republican Party and stay focused on the Libertarian Party? Most folks would think they are voting for more of the same unless he distinguishes himself to the majority of voters.

        • Patty

Doc-Here is how it is working. And you can tell because that state is getting redder all the time. What do you think the vote for Scott Brown was all about? http://www.teapartypatriots.org/mission.aspx
You cannot make people pay for others healthcare. MA laid it on the businesses to carry the burden of healthcare. Now, all of those people with thier hand out for free healthcare, just wish they could get a job. Because, now they have neither.

          • Doc Sarvis

You stated that; “You cannot make people pay for others healthcare.” We have been doing that with Medicaid and Medicare for quite some time now.

          • Patty

This is true. But, working people have paid into the medicare system thier whole life, plus it is a suppliment, not a free ride. If you want to make medicare solvent, get rid of all the abuses and fraud, wean people off of the system, don’t double down with an even bigger system that will bankrupt us even faster. You could start with the Hoveround company.

          • Doc Sarvis

Do you actually think that there will ever be a time when a subset of our population does not need a program like Medicare?

          • Patty

How did we survive before 1960 when medicare was brought up. I don’t think it was implemented until 1966. It has only been around for 45 years.

  • Jeff in OH

It is my opinion that a soda pop can would beat o-bama

    • Allen in reality

Jeff, I hope you are right! That soda pop can better bring a billion $ to the fight though!

    • Patty

Depends upon how sweet they make the kool-aid in the can.

  • 2WarAbnVet

Somehow I don’t think a Northeastern liberal like Romney is the solution to the nation’s problems. He has too much in common with the folks who caused them.

  • Raggs

I seen romney on Fox last night, All talk with NO substance your typical rino carrer politician… God help us if he is the only choice we have against obama.

    • Patty

We can make him not be the choice. Make sure you vote in your primaries. Let us be heard. Do not donate to the Republicans, donate to the persons campaign you want to see in there.

      • TIME

        Patty,
        DITTO that………

  • Bert Cundle

Lame duck, pitty may get him in! Why not? presidents have got in on less…

  • TIME

I have said it before and I will say it again Ramney is no better than Barry O.

  • AZ For Romney

Time, first it is ROmney, a simple typo, no big. Your real mistake is in comparing Barry Soltero to Mitt. How is it Romney “is not better”. They have NOTHING in common. Mitt is a self-made man who has forgotten more than Barry will ever know or understand about how America works; especially when it comes to building a robust economy. He is a conservative who governed in liberal state and found great success in the endeavor. So called Romney Care is as close to “no better” as you will get and that is up for debate; which it no doubt will be. The differences between the two men are as enormous as they are endless. Mitt IS the Fit in 2012.

    • Allen in reality

They are the same when it comes to “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”
aka amnesty, amnesty, amnesty. Our country can ill afford to feed the
impoverished needs of Mexico! Romney fully supports that way of thinking. Same as McCain, Graham, the late Kennedy, and Hutchinson.
Keep the health care! Find another candidate that believes in constitutional sovereignty! One last thing, more Americans have died at the hands of Illegal aliens than all our military fatalities in the
middle east! Ron Paul would fill the bill!

      • Patty

Than let it be known. If you are a Ron Paul supporter, go to this web site. http://www.ronpaul2012.net/ He will not run if WE don’t let him know that we want him to run. We have to drown out the democrats and RINO republicans. We need him on the republican ticket because a 3rd party will be a shoe in for 4 more years of Obama.

        • Patty

Plus, I will donate to give him a make-over so he looks prettier in front of the camera for those who are that shallow and have tendencies to vote because they think they are “good looking” instead of having any substance.

      • meteorlady

Romney is far far from conservative. He is more on the liberal side of the fence. Look at his record. The state has major financial problems and was not well run. Don’t like him, won’t vote for him. Will write in someone instead of wasting my vote on another looser for the office of our President.

    • Carlucci

“Mitt is the fitt”? Pardon me while I go puke. I would never vote for him because he is a rino and a mormon.

      • Lueder

        Carlucci,

I am LDS (a Mormon) and I would never vote for Romney, but you can bet your bottom dollar that there are many Mormons that will vote for him just because he is LDS. I would never vote or not vote for someone based on their religion but because of their political views. I personally think that Romney is a wolf in sheep’s clothing when it comes to anything conservative.

    • TIME

      Az For Ramney,

I spelled his name just as it should be, he is a 100% total FLAKE. I stated he is no better than Barry Soetoro for a very good reason, he is just as I said.

You had better get past the package or you will waste your TIME on a total RINO PROGRESSIVE. He is Socialist Light, Barry is Socialist Heavy. The only differance is one is slower in placing chains on you than the other.

  • Joseph

Holding the opinion that government is the solution to any problem is purely delusional. Government is an immoral institution that will eventually be abolished just as slavery was abolished.

Enforcing opinions/laws on others at the point of a gun is immoral whether the perpetrator is wearing a mask or a badge. “Do as I say or you may be assaulted, shot, fined, jailed or any combination of those options” is wrong and never leads to a solution. In fact, aren’t those threats terroristic, in nature?

Government seems to fit the definition of a terrorist organization to a tee. So, what difference does it make which crime boss gets elected?
The people still have within their power to force government to disband. Refusing to vote or serve on any jury is a good start.

    • meteorlady

Not refusing to vote – refusing to support the two party system which is corrupt and needs to be gotten rid of. If people would not send money or vote for either party’s hand picked candidates, then they would go away like they should have long long ago. Both parties have been bought by special interests and the elites of this country. They even take money from foreign interests now, that’s how corrupt they have become. There’s something wrong when you have to raise over a BILLION to run for President or national office.

      • Joseph

The act of voting is selecting the candidate you want to be ruled/governed by. You’re actually picking the people you want to erode your freedoms.

  • lizanne

Romney is definitely a Rhino, and he’s the one that brought socialized healthcare to MA (which is awful – I have relatives there who are faring poorly under that system; one of them is self-employed & barely makes ends-meet and they have FORCED her to pay a huge fee because she cannot afford to buy health insurance), and gay marriage to the country. There’s no way I would ever vote for this man. We need someone honest, that cannot & will not be bought by special interest groups, that is a Constitutionalist & social conservative, and who is committed to reducing our debt, the size of our government, and turning the country around. Someone who will help to increase jobs in the public sector (not the federal), will reduces taxes & stop raising the national debt, and will take steps to help us be self-sufficient energy-wise & what not. (drill baby drill!) Still waiting & watching for a candidate who fits those characteristics…

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

So Romney has a lead over BHO?? That’s so great, it’s all we need – another RINO!! I sure hope we can nominate someone better than this extreme RINO. The more I read and hear about RINO Romney, Donald Chump, et al, the more I wish John McCain were in the White House now!! Let’s remember, this RINO signed a bill in Massachusetts similar to Obummercare. We recently read how this RINO supports mandates to but health insurance. Really?? Isn’t that at least part of the reason Obummer-care was ruled unconstitutional?? Unlike RINO Romney, virtually every Republican I can think of is opposed to Obummercare and the unconstitutional mandates in it!! Does anybody know who’s running the GOP anyway?? Don’t they realize our need for an outspoken Reagan-like solid conservative to win?? Even if Romney becomes our next POTUS, think about after 1/20/2013. Romney will prove to be worse than the Bushes, and in 2016 the democraps will nominate another BHO-like candidate, and it will be a repeat of the big error of 11/4/2008. Although I have to vote for any republican as a vote against BHO and his ilk, let’s remember that a large % of voters don’t think that way. They just don’t realize elections have consequences. So we have over a year to find the right GOP nominee for next year.

I wouls support Rand Paul, but not hs old man, he has been in office to long and is a isolationist and is out in tyhe weeds. We have too many pced idoits that will not bargin in USA favor, and think compromise is great. Which is just a sure sign of piss poor leadership, as the last cutting of the budget. Most people could give a rat’s rear less, if the dictator and EU smucks don’t like us. Tell them to FO and do what is good for us, we borrow money to give to the UN and all the other USA haters. I see the f– up in the WH isn’t worrying about the Syarians killing people by the 100′s over there, we forget the dictator is a USA fetched up s–t bird. When libatards claim they are wards of the government, if they used affermative action b–ching to get hired or gettheir “education” paid for them they are wards of the government. If regressive depressive steady eddee goed to IHS, he sure is a member of the governmnet health care system since his hatching, either on or off the reservation. Anything the dem regressive depressive libatards support and create has never worked and never will. Energy, Education, Agriculture, EPA, HSC, BLM, and any other agency that has been created, end then all and think of the trillions could be saved.

That telling them. But we still have no one that looks good. They are all wind and no subtance

Ron Paul is a representative here in Texas and has done a great job for his constituents. They love the man and he is honest, hard working and keeps people informed. Shows up for his town hall meetings and is in favor of auditing and ending the Federal Reserve. He is not an isolationist, he is an American patriot. If you have time read his speech from 2000 – it’s called a Republic if You Can Keep It. Most enlightening.

He was a looser already – why try for it again. He’s also a little on the liberal side and I don’t trust him after his record in Mass. Sorry give me someone that isn’t a party hand picked candidate and I might consider it.

I think I’m writing in Ron Paul again or even Allen West….. Hate all the candidates that they are naming right now. All owe special interests big time.

  • newspooner

Romney started socialized medicine in Taxachusetts. That is all we need to know. It makes him a communist and definitely unAmerican.

  • Bluqe12

I like Romney and believe he certainly is one of the current leaders in the run for the republican bid for the nomination to run for president. That said we still have a ways to go and it is critically important on the choice we make. I don’t see the old styl3e republican, McCain, Rove, the Bush Bunch as being an important piece in the current leadership. Just too much bagage to be hauled up the road. We need younger more active people leading the party, and certainly more conservative in thier approach to spending and deficit reduction. Second, we know now just how much Obama hates being called out on every move he makes. He finnally got the message on the birther bit though didn’t he. All you nay sayers, well he finally gave iot up. It does not matter that it shows him to be legal, one must ask themselves, Why? Why did he make it such an issue wnen all it really took was to release the rea birth certificate. So , we can all thank Donald Trump, if he had not pushed Obama sooooo hard it never would have been done. Shows you how scared the weasle is when it comes to the bad press he is getting over his arrogance.
The republicans have much to clear up in the coming months, but the bottom line is ,
DEFEATING oBAMA;S BID FOR A SECOND TERM. IT’S A MUST DO FOR OUR COUNTRY.

  • lizanne

Defeating Obama does not mean we have to support Romney. I will not vote for someone who pushes through policies that are just as destructive (Romney care….Obamacare; MA gay marriage….POTUS won’t defend DOMA). And like Obama, I don’t trust Romney – he speaks out of both sides of his mouth, just like Obama did.
