Rick Perry

Education: B.S. from Texas A&M

Military: USAF pilot 1972-1977, reaching the rank of captain.

Professional: Cotton farmer on family-owned farm.

Family: Married with two children.

Political: Texas House of Representatives 1985-1991, Texas Commissioner of Agriculture 1991-1999, Lieutenant Governor 1999-2000, Governor 2000 to present.

Age: 61

State of residence: Texas

Campaign website: http://www.rickperry.org

If you look up the definition of crony capitalist, you’re sure to find Rick Perry’s photograph. He is a master at political patronage, and the practice has pumped millions of dollars into his campaign coffers.

Just a few examples:

  • From January 2001 to February 2010, Perry as Governor tapped 3,995 appointees 5,662 times to serve on hundreds of State agencies, boards and commissions. And during that time, his campaign received $17.1 million from 921 of these appointees or their spouses.
  • After he appointed Wendy Lee Gramm to the Texas A&M board of regents and the Texas Tax Reform Commission, Perry’s campaign received $610,000 from the U.S. Senate campaign of Gramm’s husband, Phil.
  • Two other appointees gave Perry more than $450,000 each and both were appointed to the Parks and Wildlife Commission. Appointees from this commission contributed more than $2 million to his campaign — an average of $118,477 per appointee.
  • No.  2 on his list of contributors were Texas A&M Regents. Four appointees besides Gramm gave more than $200,000 each, and the average per appointee was $113,127.
  • Inaugural Committee appointees gave Perry an average of $102,194 each.
  • University of Texas regents gave Perry an average of $83,463 each.

Perry likes to pass himself off as a conservative and is courting the Tea Party vote. So far, it seems to be working. But that has to be because they don’t yet know who the real Rick Perry is and see only the façade built by a slick politician. His stances on most issues are far from conservative.

However, he comes by his liberalism naturally. His father was a Democrat, and so was Rick when he entered politics in 1985. In 1988 he supported Al Gore’s Presidential bid. Now, he’s trying to run away from Gore’s global warming lunacy, saying in an interview that “this was Al Gore before invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global warming.” In fact, Gore was already on the global warming crusade.

According to Jim Tucker of American Free Press, Perry is the Bilderberg group’s ace in the hole if its first candidate in the GOP field, Mitt Romney, fails. Perry attended the Bilderberg confab in Istanbul, Turkey in 2007. He certainly follows the Bilderberg line on issues like the NAFTA Superhighway and related infrastructure projects that open up the chances of a North American Union that would merge the U.S. with Mexico and Canada.

When questioned by the press in 2007 about his trip to the Bilderberg conference, Perry insisted the Bilderbergers do good work and Americans should be grateful for them.

Perry is soft on illegal immigration. He has consistently supported allowing illegal aliens to pay in-state tuition at State colleges and universities, and he opposed Arizona’s immigration law SB 1070. Last year, Perry spoke out against using E-Verify to prevent illegal aliens from getting jobs as State employees. Those are not Tea Party values, nor are they conservative values.

He has railed against government borrowing in Washington but more than doubled borrowing during his tenure as Texas Governor. According to PolitiFact, “Texas had $34.08 billion in outstanding bonds and notes” at the end of the 2009 fiscal year, up from $13.7 billion at the end of fiscal 2001, Perry’s first as Governor. He almost doubled State spending in 10 years, and has repeatedly raised taxes, despite claims to the contrary.

He brags about job growth, but those 1.2 million jobs he claims to have created in 10 years are 629,000 short of the jobs needed to bring the State’s employment level back to where it was in 2007. Most of the jobs were minimum wage jobs. More than half a million Texans now work for $7.25 an hour or less, so he can brag that he’s brought Texans down into a tie with Mississippi for the highest percentage of workers reduced to poverty pay.

Finally, there is Perry’s 2007 executive order that mandated girls receive the Gardasil vaccine before entering the sixth grade. The vaccine causes serious side effects and has been linked to more than 8,000 adverse reactions and multiple deaths. Most troubling of all, Perry ignored evidence of Gardasil’s dangers, possibly to receive a $6,000 campaign contribution from Merck and because his former chief of staff was the company’s lobbyist.

Perry has been called George W. Bush without the brains. Eight years of big-government spending and nation building from the “compassionate conservative” helped lead us over the cliff we now find ourselves hanging from. We certainly can’t afford four years of a dumber Bush clone known in Austin, Texas as Governor Goodhair.

He will have to come up with a solution to Social Security that doesn’t destroy people’s lives who have paid into it for so long.

He will also have trouble with the East Coasters and the far West Coasters. They don’t know how to read and will vote Democrat just because.

Are you serious? I don’t know where you live, but the “east coasters” and “west coasters” can certainly read, and your swipe is not helpful. After all of my own investigation into this man’s record, experience, and lack of brash behavior, I am extremely concerned if he wins the republican nomination. He is not a proven problem solver, and he will only bring to the White House four more years of Bush advisors. We need new life, new vision, and a different man for the job of president. To represent our country, we need a man/woman who does not become part of the problem by continually using abrupt, out-landish words and statements that only serve to rile people us. The situation is bad enough–let’s get a problem solver in the white house.

You shouldn’t forget the fact that this fellow is the “puppet-of-choice” for the ruling plutocracy. Watch him when he smiles. He must have practiced that pose in the mirror for months!

    • krhteaparty

Classic! Absolutely on the money! Rick Perry is a walking mannequin that will do and say whatever he had to do to win. Globalist/Statist in the purest sense and his admittedly erroneous vaccination mandate is a sign that Americans should be running from as fast as they can….

Another issue not herein addessed: Perry & the Aga Kahn via the UT-Austin published a curriculum for TX schools. The title of the course: Muslim Histories & Cultures Program. In it, according to journalists Spencer & Geller in their report, the Muslims & Quran were whitewashed of all terror & jihad against Christians & Jews as well as other minor sects. They have even claimed in this course outstanding achievements belonging to others in the fields of: literature, history, inventions, etc. Bob, this really does need to be spelled out in your critique. As POTUS, I’m sure Perry’s agenda would extend to courting favor with Muslims to the detriment of the U.S. as well as his support of Mexico & its encroachment of illegals into the U.S. economy.

Didn’t know this one. Thanks for sharing. I will certainly look into this claim. Shouldn’t this guy, of all candidates, been dubed “the flip-flop-er”

Hmm, seems you don’t remember Regan being a Democrat but then you probably thought Reagan was an idiot.

Raised taxes: Yep 1 dollar on cigarettes. Should have been $4; raised state franchise tax on SOME business, not all. Didn’t effect the majority of small business and we were a small business, now retired. No tax is owed if the tax due is less than $1,000 use to be $100 or if the taxable entity’s total revenue from its entire business does not exceed $300,000 and that use to be $150,000 subject to adjustment based on changes in the consumer price index. Oh and the way the tax is figured changed which helped business owners but you didn’t mention that now did you. Why the bias? I believe in giving credit where credit is due and kicking butt when needed and I have been in line to kick Perry’s butt a few times here in Texas.
Naysayers constantly put down the education system but it is one of the best in the country thanks to Perry. Check out the scores of Texas students all across the board and compare them with Wisconsin’s Union lead schools. Texas out does them all. Dropout record? When you have the large number of illegals in a state as Texas does the dropout rate rises in proportion and that is where the majority of drop outs occur thus giving that part of education a poor rating. Schools in Denton Co are being built on every corner or so it seems. I call it my tax dollars at work and am glad to see them being built.
Hate to stop now but at least you can do is put in all the facts and not just negative ones err unless it is for Ron Paul who if not for the big oil boys on the gulf would have been out to pasture years ago. They didn’t have anyone else for years to run against the Dems so Ron got the nod. Deny it but it’s a fact.

Oh that that brought a cut in property tax as a trade off’; an online sales tax but did he? Now the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say, NO he vetoed the bill. Dead for now it seems.

Bildiberg puppet amazing.Just like the others.Bought and paid for by the NWO gang and they think that they could just slip him in just in case.Like that’s going to happen. The only thing its suppose to do is steal the votes so their other guys will have a chance against the one that they fear the most Ron Paul.I’d be shaking in by boots too, when he gets elected their plans go down the tube.Boy that’s gotta hurt!

  • DEANNA SCHUH

It seems to me that there just isn’t any candadate fit to outdue the existing president who wasn’t vetted at all. If he was, why is he president? He is breaking laws one after another. Let’s just look at his record as community organizer and chief at snorting cocaine. While our candidates were trying to be good citizens, serving in military, building businesses, raising foster children, etc., he was sniffing cocaine and hanging around with people like Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, and others. I take my hat off to all, especially that have a good moral character and believe the Bible.(against abortion and gay marriage, and the Lord’s prayer.

  • Not Impressed

I will certainly be holding my nose if Perry gets the Republican nomination. His immigration and NAFTA positions in the past make him undesirable. Maybe I’ll stay home or vote third party. He fits my definition of RINO.

  • Raymond Agnew

If Ron Paul does not the Republican nomanation its back to the Libertarian Party for me!!! I have not given my vote to any NWOite Thug in the last 21 years. When you vote for the lesser of Two Evils you still get EVIL!!! For Freedom and the WIN VOTE Ron Paul 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
