Retired Pope To Stay ‘Hidden To The World’

ROME, (UPI) –  Retiring Pope Benedict XVI said Thursday he will be “hidden in the world” after he steps down at the end of February.

The pope made the declaration during his final visit with local clergy at the Vatican, ANSA reported.

“Even if I step down now I am always close in prayer and you will all be close even if I remain hidden to the world,” he said.

Saying he would be with the clerics in spirit, Benedict added: “Let us hope that the Lord will help us. I, retired in prayer, will always be with you. And we will go forth with the Lord in the certainty that the Lord will conquer.”

The priests could not hold back their tears as Cardinal Agostino Vallini introduced the pope.

Benedict received resounding applause as he thanked them “for your affection and great love for the pope.”

I HOPE THE NEXT POPE IS AT LEAST, SIXTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE AND TAKES A STRONG AND UNYIELDING STANCE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY (INCLUDING, SAME-SEX MARRIAGE) AND ABORTION. AS THE POLITICAL POPULACE GROWS YOUNGER, The Vatican NEEDS TO RE-INTRODUCE ITSELF AS THE WORLD’S LEADER FOR TRADITIONAL VALUES.

    • JON

The Catholic Church shouldn’t say or do anything about marriage. Since all Catholic clergy can’t get married they really can’t speak from experience. They probably won’t do anything about homosexuality either. That’s because there is homosexuality among the clergy. Why would they want to stop what they enjoy?

        “JON,”

IN THE WEST, CATHOLICISM IS THE ORIGINAL CHRISTIANITY. SO, The Vatican NEEDS TO BE STRONG ON MORALITY.

“JON,” The Vatican CAN NOT CONTROL A FEW “HORNY” PRIESTS; NEVERTHELESS, THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH SHOULD CONTINUE WITH ITS STANCE THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS VILE AND “godless” BEHAVIOR – AND, ITS PARTICIPANTS WILL BE CAST INTO THE “fires of hell.”

  • JON

He’s is like the Sarah Palin of Popes. Didn’t finish his term. He’s to pooped to pope!

After all the sex scandals he will be probably hiding in shame like George W Bush is hiding in shame after the thousands of Americans that are dead because of him sleeping on the job. Then W starts not one but two unnecessary wars and thousands more die in foreign lands. We should all be grateful however that we have President Obama cleaning up the mess left by the last regime.

“jopa … jopa … jopa,” THE KENYAN HAS DONE NOTHING SINCE HIS ARRIVAL, BUT, “CHILL” ON HIS “CRUISE-CONTROL” CALLED, SKIN COLOR. I ASSUME CAUCASIAN LIBERALS WHO LOVE TO DEMONIZE President George Walker Bush, MUST HAVE LOST THEIR JOBS AND/OR THEIR HOMES DURING THE 2001-2009 ADMINISTRATION PERIOD. “jopa,” PEOPLE NEED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND FIGURE-OUT HOW TO STOP THEIR PERSONAL POOR-MONEY-MANAGEMENT.

President Bush HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HURT YOU.

  • JimH

Are all of you Non-Catholics, who really don’t know what you’re talking about, done taking your cheap shots at a good man?

    • CHRISTOPHER ALLEN HORTON

      “JimH,”

SIR, I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH Pope Benedict XVI.

PEOPLE ASSUME THE POPE HAS THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE NATURAL SEXUAL-URGES OF INDIVIDUAL PRIESTS. EACH OF THOSE PRIESTS MADE A DECISION WHICH WAS RIGHT FOR HIM. PIOUS CATHOLICS CAN “HOLD THEIR HEADS HIGH” AND IGNORE THINGS WHICH THE MEDIA HAS DECIDED TO SENSATIONALIZE, DUE TO “POLITICAL CORRECTNESS’ ” STRANGLEHOLD.
