Research Proves Hand Washing, Prevention More Effective Than Vaccination

Research Proves Hand Washing, Prevention More Effective Than Vaccination

If a flu pandemic were to spread throughout the United States, researchers at the University of Michigan say that masks and hand hygiene — not vaccines — could cut the spread of the illness by up to 75 percent.

The study’s researchers directed students at the University of Michigan to wear surgical masks and practice good hand hygiene in residence halls for flu prevention, said Allison Aiello, associate professor of epidemiology in the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

The study took place during flu seasons from 2006 to 2007 and 2008 to 2009. During the two flu seasons, the researchers recruited more than 1,000 students in residence halls. The students were assigned to groups who wore masks, wore masks and practiced hand hygiene, or did neither. They were monitored for the presence of flu symptoms or the flu. The group that did both reported far fewer flu-like illnesses than the other two groups.

“This means masks and hand hygiene may be a good measure for preventing transmissions in crowded living quarters,” said Aiello. “In a pandemic situation where compliance may be significantly higher than in controlled studies, masks and hand hygiene together may have even higher preventative implications?”

The study’s researchers said that vaccines would likely be unavailable in a pandemic situation, and personal hygiene and prevention would likely be the first line of defense. However, research published in The Lancet last year provides statistics that may actually reaffirm the importance of the University of Michigan study. The article says that the trivalent inactivated vaccine (TIV) — which accounts for about 90 percent of flu vaccines given in the United States — had only 59 percent effectiveness in healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 65 when there is not a pandemic.

During a pandemic, vaccines may actually contribute to the spread of illness, according to Dr. Eleanora I. McBean’s 1977 book Swine Flu Expose in which she writes of the influenza pandemic of 1918: “The flu of 1918 was caused by the conglomeration of diseases which the sinister variety of vaccines brought on. Practically everyone in the world had been propagandized into submitting to all the vaccine that were invented –the surplus stock left over from World War I which was the first war in which all the vaccines were used. The vaccinated got the flu and the unvaccinated didn’t. I was one of the unvaccinated and I didn’t get the flu. I didn’t see an unvaccinated person who got the flu.”

Hummm, high dollar research grants to learn some basic common sense. Isn’t it just wonderful the expansion of our knowledge base via the millions of dollars spent on on who knows how many research projects such as this. . .:/

See? I’ve been trying to tell everybody I can. –and vaccinations are just one of the ways they’ve got everybody snookered into believing they’ve got your best interests at heart…oh, but don’t they have BIG hearts, such BIG HEARTS. Yeah, right in their back pants pocket.
If it weren’t for medicine’s continual screw-ups the disease rates we experience here in good old “scientifically based” America would be half as high as they are. Have you ever heard some “expert” refer to some medical bit of information as coming from “medical science”?…like it were from some branch of “real” serious investigation in the mainstream? Think of it more in terms of…a backwater (stale, still and stagnant) or an eddy (just cycling around, around… and around again).
See, you can’t put anything in your body without it have WI-I-I-DE ranging affects and effects. Some of them don’t show up for years after you expose yourself (by signing the medical consent form) to some injection, shot, test, surgery, x-ray or medication. Of course, after a year or so of something being in there and doing its unnatural, untraceable dirty work how are you going to be able to proveably say “that caused this”? Can’t!
Have you by any chance noticed how many new, strange and incredibly expensive conditionsand diseases eem to keep cropping up, lately. Think it’s a coincidence?
Hope you can learn to – before Obamacare’s incubation phase ends – or find someone trustworthy who can help you exercise personal responsibility and recognizance in health matters. Also learn how to change your “likes/dislikes” in a hurry to do what will need to be done to stay healthy.
And remember when they start declaring “health edicts” requiring you to submit to some procedure that may or may not be adequately tested and proven for its efficacy (how would you know?) the medical authorities despise scenes and screams in protest to anything they do.
It will be coming unless Oblamacure is rescinded and we can go into remission from him.

    OMG, say it’s not so!

I guess that hand washing thing just may catch on someday.
Hey I walk around with a pocket full of pre packed hand cleaners all the bloody time. I have done this for years. I just love it when people call me Mr. MONK.
Yet their green slime coated nose’s and hacking tells me so much about their hygine habbits.

Whats even more odd I don’t get cold’s or the flue ever, so who’s right, us clean freaks, or the dirty little piggies?

I was just wondering why they didn’t also have a control group that practiced good hygiene without wearing silly face masks. Thank you for being the experiment for that group. I have always contended that hygiene is a better preventer of disease than vaccinations. Even as a kid I always wondered why the people working in hospitals were not struck down by every contagious disease they treated. Did doctors and nurses get a special immunity with their uniforms and certificates? No they just acquired the knowledge of hygiene.

I had a vaccine once over 40 years ago and I have had something like the flu twice in that period. Once I used a public office computer and forgot to wash my hands IMMEADIATELY AFTERWARDS. And the second time it was apparently the H1N1 which also lasted four days. I didn’t go to a doctor in either case. I haven’t carried the pre-packed hand cleaners but I’m begining to think it might be a good idea. In the meantime I’ve upped my daily intake of Vitamin C to 2 grams a day and my Vitamin D-3 to 15,000 IU a day. Also do your best to avoid crowds of all kinds.

It’s almost enough to make you wonder WHY some people go to medical school. It seems to come down to job security and easy MONEY, doesn’t it? For those who revere common sense and aren’t afraid to THINK (and you also despise Uncle Scam’s ways), GOOD FOR YOU.
If someone took the time to extrapolate a bit, you might conclude that drug companies that specialize in vaccine R&D have at least one hidden aganda. Their main concern seems to be making easy MONEY.
That is, SCIENCE and COMMON SENSE don’t have anything to do with it.
So, when you do the math and you add up those who have the same basic approach to certain health ‘solutions’ (in this case, easy money via vaccines), that is an indictment of MDs, medical schools, the AMA, the FDA and Big Pharma.
Add to that list of yahoos Congress and the White House. What does that give you? That tells you who your friends are NOT.

Influenza is AIRBORNE. All you have to do is walk by or get in an elevator with someone who doesn’t even know they will be sick the next day, in order to catch it. Movies. Stadiums. Churches. Preschools. Your workplace. Vaccines aren’t foolproof, but they save far more lives than not taking them. Talk to your elders about polio, diptheria, tetanus. A neighborhood kid near us nearly died of tetanus because his mother didn’t believe in getting him his shots. My mother saw him in the hospital, with only his heels and the back of his head touching the sheet; one long, constant convulsion. They had knocked his teeth out to get a breathing tube in place. Is this what you want for your kids?

A coworker of mine’s newborn baby had whooping cough, which he caught before he was old enough for the vaccine. Weeks in intensive care, his tiny little body fighting for his life. I had whooping cough last year because of an impaired immune system. I broke ribs coughing and was sick for five months. Not getting vaccinated keeps these diseases in the population, and endangers far more lives than the rare vaccine negative reaction.

I remember getting the shots and vacinations when I was very young, and also all the shots when I went into the Air Force. Since then I haven’t gotten very many of them and learned how to avoid a lot of the “bugs” that are floating around. I haven’t had a flu shot since ’98. I was told I had to have one due to the fact that I was working in a nursing home. The next day I had the flu, and was down with it for about 5 days. I told them that I couldn’t take it but they insisted. I take 1,000 Mg of Vitimin C every morning with my b/p medecine, and that seems to be what I need. My sister cannot take the flu vaccine because it is made from eggs, and she is alergic to it. As far as washing hands is concerned, my parents taught me abot that waaaaay back in the ’40′s so that is really nothing new, and hand washing was stressed at the nursing home where I was working, just as it is done in the hospitals. I’m wondering who did this study and how much they got for doing it.

As a retired eurpean Kindergartenteacher my expirience is, that it really helps to regorosily let the whole childrengroup wash hands before and after breakfast and lunch, every time they visit the bathroom anyway and to teach them not to touch their own face or other children faces, when they have a cold, with out washing the hands before, as well as do blow their nose and to snize in their ellbow.

I had a cold twice in twenty years and that was it.
