Republican Novice Beats Seasoned Democrat In “Deep Blue” NYC

Republican Novice Beats Seasoned Democrat In “Deep Blue” NYC

In a clear sign of President Barack Obama’s unpopularity, New York voters in a district that traditionally supports Democrats — the President carried it with 55 percent there in 2008 — have elected Republican political novice Bob Turner to fill sexting Representative Anthony Weiner’s former seat.

Turner, a retired media executive, beat Democratic State lawmaker David Weprin in a 53 to 47 percent victory early Wednesday morning. Turner said the victory was a message to Obama that his failed policies are angering Americans.

“We’ve been asked by the people of this district to send a message to Washington and I hope they hear it loud and clear,” he said in a speech. “We’re ready to say, ‘Mr. President, we are on the wrong track.”‘

Despite being endorsed by The New York Times, raising about twice the campaign funds that Turner did and being Jewish in an area with a largely Jewish population, Weprin could not score a victory for Weiner’s seat. Many people attribute his loss to his support of Obama on many issues, including uneasy relations with Israel. Weprin also voted to legalize same-sex marriage in the state, a move that shut down support from socially conservative Democrats in the district.

Most analysts say Obama probably will win more votes in New York state in 2012 than the GOP candidate, but that if Republicans can win in “deep blue” New York City districts like Turner has just done, there could be major upsets for the Democrats in the Presidential election.

This news came to me yesterday afternoon. I can only hope that the winner of the election – Bob Turner – is more of a conservative than a ‘Republican.’ New Jersey is now minus a wiener, but we don’t need to learn after the fact that one wiener has been replaced by another.
New Jersey, I didn’t think you had it in you. Way to go!

I guess it could be worse, they could have wiener/holder instead! :)

Will we see a backlash from the far left?

“Nationwide Riots in All States and on Wall Street Planned by Anarchists for Sept. 17: Continued Internet Chatter discusses coming Day of Rage riots for each state and at Wall Street in New York City. September the 17th was deliberately chosen to display disrespect for the U.S. Constitution, which is traditionally honored on this date. A number of groups comprising Communist, Anarchists, Anti-American, and selected unions are slated to participate. Organizing groups are preparing to act in similar fashion as the recent riots in England and Greece; and they have borrowed from lessons learned in those events”

If these anarchists riot, they should be shot.

      • JimH

I was going to be an anarchist once, but there were to many rules.
        Anarchists unite?

    • eddie47d

Don’t worry, there was a small demonstration outside Wall Street on Sept 1st demanding action on corporate greed and what this greed is doing to America. New York’s finest showed up shortly after this group assembled and they were arrested. No one was verbally “assaulted” by the demonstrators,no violence, no disruption of traffic. So much for free speech and the right to assembly.Corporate greed and a police state win 1 and the Constitution wins 0.

Wait a minute, the Anarchists are ORGANIZING a protest?? That goes against what they stand for. If we didn’t have a fellow travelor in the White House and Justice Dept. this could be used as an opportunity to round them all up while they are gathered in one place.

    • Michael J.

      FreedomFighter,
I too have been reading about this “Day of Rage” being organized by a group with same name. It’s a community organizers dream come true with simultaneous protest planned in the capital of all fifty states along with other strategic locations. If you enjoy double-speak, you can read all about it at: http://usdayofrage.org/

Their website speaks of peaceful protests while openly describing in military terms, their plans of tactical occupation of targeted areas, all capped of with the name “Day of Rage”.

In recent years, we’ve come to expect progressive liberal communist to do exactly the opposite of what they tell us they’re going to do. The only thing that would be shocking at this point, would be an actual peaceful gathering of zombified leftover hippies, newly indoctrinated college brat recruits, wasted illegal aliens, useful Hollywood idiots, gender bender vendors and entitlement freaks, all rounded off by a gaggle of union thuggery. A sideshow that would make Ringling Brothers turn green with envy.

At this point, I would recommend that all who are willing and able, to go forth and document these events where ever they may occur so that the truth can be told. Otherwise, be content with reading between the lines of the sympathetic drooling media who may themselves participate in the protesting.

      • FreedomFighter

        Well put, and thanks

This wasn’t so much of a red vs blue thing, it was more of him appealing to the majority vote in that district, the Jews. Many of the Jewish faith don’t like how Obama is treating Israel. We aren’t supportive enough, blah blah. Turner specifically gave attention to this issue. Well played Mr Turner. ;)

    • Song

Apparently the voters thought it was a lot more than “blah blah blah” SMACKDOWN! :D

  • Real “Change”

Way to go, New Yorkers; I knew that you had it in you all along to tell those A-holes where to go, in a New york minute! We all need to clean house, and New York City is the place to start. Love it!!!!

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

As we can see, voters here in New York can sometimes be sensible. In fact, according to the 2009 World Almanac, Richmond County (Staten Island) actually voted for McCain in 2008. Of course McCain was a mushy republican and poor choice for POTUS nominee. But we’d be far better off with McCain/Palin than with BHO and his bumbling VP Biden. Now, if New Yorkers would just wise up and quit voting for Democraps on all national, state and local levels, I’m sure we’d see positive ‘Hope and Change’. And voters in other blue states should consider doing likewise. Of course, I doubt that will happen on the wacky left coast, especially in San Fransicko. LOL!! But of course that city re-elected one of the worst women in America – Nasty Nazi Pelosi – by an 80% landslide last November!! Anthony Weiner didn’t even come close to that in his 2010 re-election!!

  • Dan az

Do much for Ron Paul not having a chance! This just goes to show ya that there is allot of people awake now!

    • Dan az

      So not do :)

    • JeffH

Brother Dan, you watch the tube and listen to all of the “so called” political experts and they keep citing past polls, past elections and election cycles as if that is the key to the heartbeat of American voters. I think that may have been true prior to the 08 elections but the whole climate has changed…the people are pissed at politics in general realizing they’ve been duped and taken advantage of. More Americans are educating themselves, realizing that it’s both parties that can’t be trusted and have created this political “culture” of corruption(thanks Malkin), crony capitalism, favoritism and disregard for their constituents and the constitution…in other words “POLITICS”.

I’m sure this NY vote was a referendum against Weiner, Obama, the Dems and the arrogance of corrupt politics in general along with the Alinsky like methods of Dems and leftist media. Mainstream Americans are fed up, tired of the rhetoric, tired of the double standard, tired of being labeled racicts, terrorists, ignorant neanderthals. It shows there is still some hope left. Now, if I see the same happen in California…then I’ll know that there is real hope left.

Vote Ron Paul 2012…that would be the icing on the cake.

Bob Turners whole campaign was about being pro-Israel and nothing said about what he will do for America. That’s all we needed was one more person in Washington to send our tax dollars overseas.Because of our support of Israel tens of thousands of Americans are dead and trilllions from our treasury gone.Ron Paul 2012.

    • http://naver sook young

Sorry, but we need to support Israel. I seem to remember learning, “Whoever blesses you I will bless and whoever curses you I will curse.” We need to support our only true ally in the region. It hasn’t cost us thousands of dead. Can you cite a source to show what you say is true? I think supporting these Arab nations have cost us more lives than defending Israel. Thank you.

      • ron

Can you cite a source that says that all the foreign aid we give to others does not effect our abillity to defend this country? Or would you have this country fall in defending another country, even Isreal? What source do you cite that tells you that the very district the so called novice conservative won will be there in 2012? The fact is it will not be there and that same novice person will go haoe and talk of the good times he had impeading the growth of this great nation.

  • Palin12

We also had an election here in Nevada for a US House seat. The democrat candidate, an ardent supporter of Obamacare, got trounced by 21% points.

    • eddie47d

That was in a Republican district of Nevada so big whoop. He was expected to loose. Turners victory in NY was an unexpected upset and worthy of headlines. Congratulations Bob Turner.

      • Palin12

        edduh,
Kate will be upset with you for calling her a he. Besides, how do ya think Whorehouse Harry won in Nevada? Rigged voting machines by SEIU.

        • eddie47d

You assume too much Palin. Besides who is Kate? (Kate 8?)

          • Michael J.

            eddie47d,
Can’t tell her from he? That’s what you get for frolicking so long in liberal la-la land. It’ll Take quite some time to deprogram such engrained misconceptions, so best you get started.

          • eddie47d

So Michael, you buy into Palin’s made up story. I guess you are also getting desperate for a gotcha. So Michael who is Kate?

          • Michael J.

            eddie47d,
Those of us from this planet know that Kate Marshall is the newest token Obamacrat to lose to a Republican in the state of Nevada.

You supply your own gotcha’s eddie, you’re a walking punchline looking for some place to happen. No desperation required.

        • JeffH

          :) …Nevada Democrat Kate Marshall… DUH!

Get a life Jeff you petty slime ball.Go shoot some more immigrants!

  • Raggs

HA HA oblama is the next idiot to walk the plank…

  • Palin12

Kate Marshall, Treasurer of Nevada, was the democratic candidate for US House. Look, we have no proof that Dirty Hairy Reid cheated, but there is lots of evidence pointing that way. On the morning of that election in 2010, Real Clear Politics had Sharron Angle ahead by 2.7%.
Bumper stickers and lawn signs all over Las Vegas said “Dump Reid”. I don’t know anyone that voted for him. Worst of all, many voters complained that they clicked on Angle in the voting booth, but the printout said Reid. Meanwhile, SEIU was bussing all the casino workers to early voting locations, giving them a free sack lunch, and telling them if Reid loses they will lose their jobs. During the televised debate, Angle clearly won, while Harry looked like a disorganized old man, fumbling for his papers when asked to give a closing argument.

    • Michael J.

Exactly!!! What happened in Nevada was a test run for the next presidential campaign. Obama need only keep the poll numbers as high as possible to maintain plausibility, but the outcome is predetermined unless he can be stopped.

      • http://naver sook young

We can stop him by turning out and voting him out of office. The vote is our most powerful weapon. Thank you.

        • Michael J.

          sook young,
I pray that you are right and our votes are counted properly and fairly.

          RON PAUL 2012

    • ron

So the voters of Nevada picked a fumbling old man over stupidity.

  • ron

What happened with Reid was that people woke up to the fact that a boring senator is far better than a flaming lunatic. Besides we have already been blessed with a lunatic by the great state of Minnesota and M. Bachmann. All this while S. Palin attempts to book a spot on basketball wives. President Obama is the leader of the greatest nation in the world and that is a fact. You can twist and turn the words of the constitution all you want and it does not change the fact that he is the President and the legal president.

Show me one of your silly so-called facts that he is not a citizen with the right to be president and I can show you twenty facts to say he is even though facts mean nothing to birthers. So let me let you in on a secret. As long as sensible Americans of all ethnic groups visit this page and pages like this and are able to spread the word that there are fringe people like most on this site, who by the way also call themselves Christians, who use every word short of the most offensive word to describe a minority president. Oh and btw do you think Palin will be doing the collage tour this basketball season?????

    • Michael J.

      ron said:
“even though facts mean nothing to birthers.”

What a queer thought you are expressing, I thought facts mean nothing to useful idiots.
And sense you are obviously an Obamadrone, we will all assume that you are on the tax payer dole in some form or fashion.

  • Paul S.

    Ron,

Pray tell us exactly what that “most offensive word” is that would describe a “monority President”. Lets see now could that word be “inept”, “clueless”, “liar”, “phoney”, “abuser of freedom and liberty”, “traitor” (that describes any President who would bow to any foreign head of state) “despicable”, “disgusting”, “coward”,
“self centered” “arrogant” “narciscistic”…..I’m afraid I’ll run out of space before I run out of adjectives. You see, Ron, we conservatives, unlike so many “Progressives” don’t need to descend to the depts of racism to get our point across. We have the mastery of the English language that disposes that notion. Now if only Progressives were half as adept, then perhaps their first argument would not be to play the race card. That race card is no longer “High Trump”, but rather a mere deuce in the high stakes of political debate.
