Representative Ron Paul Introduces Bill To Allow Sale Of Raw Milk Across State Lines

Representative Ron Paul asks, “How much freedom do we have if we can’t even drink unpasteurized milk?” in a statement on his website announcing his introduction of HR 1830 into the House.

The bill would allow the shipment and distribution of unpasteurized milk and milk products for human consumption across state lines, a practice currently forbidden by the Food and Drug Administration.

“The FDA claims its regulatory powers over food safety give it the authority to ban the interstate sales of raw milk, but this is an unconstitutional misapplication of the commerce clause for legislative ends,” Paul said.

“Mr. Speaker, many Americans who the government wishes to deny the ability to purchase unpasteurized milk have done their own research and come to the conclusion that unpasteurized milk is healthier than pasteurized milk.” Paul said in his statement introducing HR 1830.

“These Americans have the right to consume these products without having the Federal government second-guess their judgment about what products best promote health. If there are legitimate concerns about the safety of unpasteurized milk, those concerns should be addressed at the state and local level.”

Pointing out the facts that guvmnt does not have the right to tell you that what you put into your body is there job to control, is the fact that we still have a constitution and they need to follow it, not make it what they feel it should be.The constitution and bill of rights is the law of the land and if you let them usurp them for any reason them you have know liberty’s,just the chains of oppression.Freedom is not free its our God given rights not the guvmnts rights.

I drank raw milk for years as did my children. They are big healthy men now with strong teeth. Pro liberty! Pro Ron Paul!

I’ve never tried raw milk, never had the opportunity, but have a neighbor now that has goats and raw milk that I want to try.
The government needs to stay out of our personal lives and fix the problems that really matter, like getting rid of Obama and all his cronies!
I’m a senior on disability and just want to return to the America of my childhood, which was REALLY free and people could live their lives as they wanted.
      GOD BLESS AMERICA!

We drank it as children, and were never were sick from it. In fact we were never very sick at all! My friend who buys it because she owns part of the cow, had recently to go out of town unexpectedly, and she asked me if I would like her gallon while she was gone. Of course, I said yes! I could not believe how good it tasted, and my body craved it all the week she was gone. Pasteurization came about only for the big businesses to keep it from spoiling while they sent it long distances, to keep them from losing money!! We need to get back to the real farmers, locally, who do it right for our health!! God bless Ron Paul, who stands for the people! And God bless America!!

Blocking the long distance interstate transport of raw milk is one thing, but when the state line is just down the road and the place it is going is just past that, what is the big deal. Any milk product has to be kept cold or have been sterilized. By the way, I don’t drink enough raw milk to have an opinion as to it’s health benefits, my kids don’t like it, although we do get it, they just need to get used to it.
