Report: U.S. Will Lose Superpower Status By 2030
PHOTOS.COM

By the year 2030, the United States will no longer be considered a world superpower, but it isn’t expected to be replaced by another nation gaining superpower status, according to a National Intelligence Council report.

Power will shift, rather, to “networks and coalitions in a multipolar world,” according to the “Global Trends 2030” report.

The world of 2030 will be radically different from the world today in terms of power structure. By 2030, no country will be a hegemonic power.

The new divisions of power, according to the report, will lead to a reversal in the historic rise in Western power since 1750. This will be integral in “restoring Asia’s weight in the global economy and ushering in a new era of ‘democratization’ at the international and domestic level.”

The report says:

The diffusion of power among countries will have a dramatic impact by 2030. Asia will have surpassed North America and Europe combined in terms of global power, based upon GDP, population size, military spending, and technological investment. China alone will probably have the largest economy, surpassing that of the United States a few years before 2030. In a tectonic shift, the health of the global economy increasingly will be linked to how well the developing world does—more so than the traditional West. In addition to China, India, and Brazil, regional players such as Colombia, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa, and Turkey will become especially important to the global economy.

The report says that a best case scenario as global power shifts would be the United States and China becoming strong economic allies who collaborate on a range of issues. Less desirable outcomes, according to the report, would be that global shifts in power lead to conflict as nations seek to gather more resources.

I am not comfortable with that I would rather AMERICA still be the WORLD POWER because we are not hostile, we have more control to dangerous things that would avoid disasterous things to happen to this world.

    • http://www.boblivingstonletter.com/ Bob Livingston

      Dear walter agard,

You write: “I would rather AMERICA still be the WORLD POWER because we are not hostile…” Ask the people in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Iran, etc., if they think we’re not hostile.

      Best wishes,
      Bob

      • diderot

Hello. Interesting comment, However, the Military Industrial Complex is not “we,” it’s “they.” Regards.

    • Evan

Not hostile? Seriously? Get your head out of the sand.

  • Gary L.

The“Global Trends 2030” report sound like a lot of bunk. With all of the crap going on all over the world, including the insanity here in the U.S., they want to prognosticate how things will be 17 years in the future. A whole lot can happen in 17 years. Especially in the middle east.

    • Ted Crawford

With regard to the fate of America, save some miraculuos occurrence, I fell they are correct on the outcome but perhaps wrong on the timing!
As for the Middle East and the religion of Mohammed? I’ve not read the Quran, but if the actions of those proporting to be his followers is any example, Global Trends has clearly and drastically underestimated them!
Given the actions of those claiming to be acting in accordance with his teachings, on many accasions in America including 9/11, and even across Europe, and of course in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and seeing no substantive push back against their actions by other Muslims, I’m forced to agree with Alexis de Tocqueville; ” I have studied the Quran a great deal. I came away from that study with the conviction that by and large there have been few Religions in the World as deadly to man as that of Mohammad…I therefore regard it as a form of decadence rather than a form of progress”

  • Ted Crawford

That timetable can be reduced by a full decade, if the Progressives are successful in further dividing the Nation! If we, the Conservative American Electorate, continue to allow oueselves to be splintered into small, myopic sects, petulantly demanding others to adhere totally to our individule ideas of a Conservative Utopia, we WILL be conquered by our own division !
It may be, I fear it is, already too late to prevent it! Surely it will occur if we fail to find some common ground between now and the 2014 mid-term election! If Conservatives fail to hold the House and regain the majority position in the Senate in 2014, the ‘fat lady’ will have already finished her song!
Allowing ‘perfect’ to become the enemy of ‘good’, Petulant Idology, Religious Bigotry, gender Bias, these issues occassioned the Conservative defeat, by the least qualified Candidate I’ve ever seen even attempt to run, in November! If we allow this to continue, America is DOOMED!
” The shaft of the arrow had been feathered with one of the Eagles own plumes. We often give our enemy the the means to our own destruction ” Aesop

None to soon! It’s just too heavy of baggage

There reaches a point to where that the world is just too small to not get along.

I know that the earth seems large but it is not very large at all.

Between now and 2030 ~ many old attitudes will just fade away.

Think about it,~ In the early 1600′s ~ How to navigate the globe was a secret that only few men knew. These few men was prized pilots, navigators and seaman who would go where few dare, around the Horn.

    • Nobody’s Fool

So you think having a world dominated by muslim control will mean everybody will finally “get along”??? Deerinwater, you’ve been under water too long and the oxygen depletion is begging to show. Come back when your medication kicks in.

Where have you been living? Ask yourself why so many, many people from so many
countries flood our nation…leaving their own country behind in favor of living in America
where there are (were) freedoms to live unafraid….where opportunities abound (or did)?
Where we are the only nation in the world that has a Constitution with laws to protect its’ people (or we did have ) from the government becoming too involved in their daily lives
and freedoms? In a one world order, who do you think is going to be in control of your life?….Every single day (if you look and listen) you will see that our Constitution is being eroded from within by the very people we have put into office to uphold our laws and constitutional rights. Washington is leaning more and more towards the UN from which to make decisions about America’s foreign policy, whether we go to war or not to protect ourselves, whether or not we are allowed to have a gun for personal protection and so much more every single day. Since when, from the very beginning of the founding of this country have we EVER allowed another “body” to dictate to us? The wars in
which we have been involved have been in an effort to stop the advancement of those who would enslave others, eventually arriving at our our own door and threatening our own shores….we have fought to keep others free from tyranny and by so doing, to keep
America free. Does that mean that we have not had, and do not now have, greedy
politicians who use war as an excuse to forward their own agendas? I’m afraid not, but in the world as we have known it, you cannot say that America has not stood for so much that is good in this world. The Constitution of the United States of America is the ONLY thing that stands between you and me and the tyrannical dictators that rob, imprison and kill their own people by the hundreds of thousands, but that’s where we are headed…and with attitudes like yours, we will be there much sooner than later. And, most of all, lest we totally forget, America was founded by Christian men and women who fled a tyrannical government to found a nation based on Godly principles and who’s
government was established “by the people for the people”….not for the government.
God has blessed America exceedingly…how else did a 200 year old nation become a
world super power? Think about it!

      • Joe Hammond

We became a world superpower because in 1945 the rest of the world was in need of massive repair due to the devastation from WW2. The last time we fought an industrial war in the confines of the USA was in 1861-1865 which resulted in 600,000 dead. Since that time we have made war outside the USA and as a result we have remained relatively free from destruction on a physical level.

We also are a nation-state that has successfully executed a genocidal war against a people. The Native Americans were both physically and culturally exterminated by the American people backed up by the USA military. Even Hitler said he admired what the US people did to the Native Americans in Mein Kampf. It took over 100 years but we finally put them into reservations and stole their young by putting them into religous re-education camps which were called Indian Schools. the result is the despair in places like Pine Ridge or the greed in places like the Indian casinos of the east coast. Neither is anything to be proud of.

        • http://www.facebook.com/martha.weems.1 notalemming

As I am part Cherokee Indian, I am as appalled as anyone to the depths of evil in
which man is willing to go. As I said in my post, America is not without (nor has it ever
been…including Abe Lincoln) political leaders who have abused the system and tried to
manipulate it, albeit none so successfully as our present administration. However, America has still been, with all of her faults, a wonderful place in which to live free, with
endless opportunities for those who wished to work hard and earn them. You mention that we have not been in an “Industrial” war since 1945 and that is because we went in
and rebuilt countries that had been devastated by war, which, in my humble opinion,
is an insult to our men who went there and fought to free (yes…FREE) a whole population of people from the horrors of Hitler and his minions. When we entered Paris,
there was dancing in the streets because our arrival meant liberation. from tyranny. There are huge grave yards in Poland where the white crosses seem to go on forever and where our courageous men lie who bled and died there. The people of the town celebrate a special day of remembrance each year to honor them. Tell me how many other nations hold that distinction?….and rebuild a town devastated by war?….how many? Yes, America certainly has seen her share of Godless men, but all in all, to quote President Reagan…”She is the light shining on the hill”. Why is it that even now other countries are watching us, hoping that we will not fall….if, as you indicate, we are
no better than any other nation?

      • Leasha

I heartedly agree. There is a plan and divine purpose for this nation.
The constitution is our liberty of conscience. We must not ever, ever, ever give up!
Continue your vigilance and comments to support our homeland.

We can thank Bobama for advancing that year date. He is hurting our military and our capitalist driven economy.

    • eddie47d

There is a whole string of Presidents that hurt our economy and our military forces. Its called the continual Military Industrial Complex and Corporations use our military to advance their agenda. Our military are no more than policemen and moving targets in our shrinking world. As all nations progress and lay claim to fewer resources we can be assured there will be more wars. It doesn’t matter whether these wars will be caused by communism or capitalism. China is moving fast in locking up resources and doing it without war but how long will that last before we butt heads somewhere. In our country the “capitalists” are making more demands on our military than they are capable of handling.

  • Jon

    2030? I’m worried about getting through 2013.

    • momo

      Amen!

  • Terry Bateman

The U.S. will remain THE superpower and China will bury itself in air and water pollution.
China’s economy is a house of cards based on central government planning and spending on multiple cities, highways, bridges, airports, etc. from their massive but
limited foreign currency reserves. China is losing and will continue to lose its manufacturing advantage to other Asian countries, Mexico, and soon the United
States as cheap natural gas is now and will continue to draw petrochemical, industiral,
and manufacturing plants back to the U.S. from abroad until the U.S. becomes the biggest
chemical, industrial, and manufacturing producer in world history. China’s currency reserves will dwindle, government spending will decrease, and gleaming new cities
will be empty . Shortage of water alone dooms China. Immigration will lower the age of
U.S, population considerably and as the baby boomers die off, the government will need
less money to pay for Social Security and Medicare. We might even win some wars of
conquest in West Africa and add a state or two to our current 50. Then we could sell
African oil and gas for a king’s ransom to those Chinese and Europeans that do remain.

This article and headline seriously misrepresents what the report actually says. A hegemon is not the same as a superpower. The definition of a superpower is the ability to project force anywhere in the world. The linked report does NOT claim that America will no longer be a superpower.

Rather, the report predicts that America will no longer be a hegemon, i.e., no longer have such an extreme disparity of power relative to other nations.

  • Texas Ride

No kidding, lets worry about getting through the next year! These people need to get “a real job” instead of sitting around and making up news stories! (Wonder how much that pays.)

There isn’t any other country better suited to be the World Super Power. Americans are good people and we are a morally superior to many. We are not conquerors, we do not plunder, we don’t enslave other nations. We spend our blood and treasure to see that the ungrateful of the world have roads, electricity, airports, satellites, and medical care.. If you don’t like Americans….take a hike! We just have to take our country back and return to a Constitutional government. Real Americans need to control our country and return it to some sort of sanity!

  • Diana

The best way to regain American superpower is to stop educating the Foreign Chinese students. The American Universities should only be educating Americans. There are too many Chinese taking classes in the American Universities instead of more Americans. The US Government should not have to educate the Chinese when America cannot afford it! They should stop all of the visas for students and send them back home to China!

  • Mr.Ben

China seems to be doing all the right things. Besides being a mammoth in collecting resources these last 10 years, they are setting an example by being the first country to fulfill the new Basel III global economic standards, on January 1, 2013. If the worlds reserve currency doesn’t step up to these new rules soon, faith will be lost in our worlds biggest “faith-based currency”. http://sprottasset.com/markets-at-a-glance/gold-solution-to-the-banking-crisis/

How can anyone still consider the US as a superpower? We are still considered a force not to be dismissed but a superpower is much more than a strong military force. A superpower is a country that fears no one but does not meddle in other country’s affairs; it’s not a bully or a country that believes that all other countries should behave and govern as they do.

A superpower is also economically sound, with strong leadership. And we really haven’t had, what I would consider, strong leadership for almost 30 years. It seems that “power” has replaced leadership. These self-serving so-called leaders have driven a stake through this country’s heart. And Congressional leadership has been for sale for quite some time.

Don’t think for a moment that I’m not proud of my country and those who serve it without a thought of self-fulfillment. I’m a veteran and I do believe in a strong military but the leaders of this country have used that military for their own means. And that’s just wrong. We no longer do what we say and say what we mean. No wonder few, if any, countries trust us. Being a superpower means that a country is true to its people and trust worthy world wide.

Before the US can consider itself a true superpower it must fix its economic situation. It must build up its industrial complex in order to compete in a world economy. It must respect the will of its people and their needs above all others. It must have a strong defense; not a nation-building military complex. It must come to the aid of those countries that ask for help and truly need it. And above all, it must have a strong and competent leader; someone who can point this country in the right direction and lead it down that path.

    Sam Rolley,

SIR, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE ILLUSTRATED YOUR TALENT AS A WRITER.

Mr. Rolley, YOU WROTE A BORING ARTICLE. BUT, YOUR INFORMATION – CONTAINED IN THAT GREY BOX – IS HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE AND SUBLIMINAL.

EVERY NATION YOU MENTIONED IN THAT GREY BOX IS A “COLORED” NATION. SO, THIS TECTONIC SHIFT FROM THE WEST – WHICH IS TO OCCUR IN LESS THAN EIGHTEEN YEARS – WILL PLACE CAUCASIANS IN A QUANDRY.

WHEN WE TURN-ON OUR TELEVISIONS, OVER NINETY PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE WE SEE IN PROGRAMMING AND COMMERCIALS ARE CAUCASIAN. INDEED, WHEN NEGROES “SCROLL-THRU” CHANNELS, SEVERAL CHANNELS HAVE BEEN PASSED BEFORE A FACE IS SEEN WHICH IS NOT, “white.”

MY POINT IS, Mr. Rolley, THIS CHANGE BY 2030 WILL HAVE A PROFOUND PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT UPON PEOPLE OF COLOR IN AMERICA – ESPECIALLY, NEGROES.

SINCE SLAVERY, THE “white man” HAS HAD TOTAL CONTROL OVER NEGROES’ LIVES. NEGROES HAVE HAD TO ASK CAUCASIANS’ PERMISSION “FOR EVERYTHING.” NEGROES HAVE ALWAYS FEARED RETALIATION FROM THE “white man,” IF THEY DID A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G HE DID NOT LIKE.

NOW, IF THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE BY 2030, THE DOOR WILL BE
W-I-D-E O-P-E-N FOR DISOBEDIENCE. THE “black man” WILL FEEL COMPELLED – WITH ABSOLUTE GLEE – TO “BUTT HEADS” WITH THE “white man,” SO HE CAN “TEST” HIS NEWLY-FOUND STRENGTH.

Mr. Rolley, SIR, I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I KNOW MY COMMENTS MAY NOT FIT THE INTENT OF YOUR ARTICLE. BUT, THIS ARTICLE IS A FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF HOW PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT RACES INTERPRET INFORMATION.

Mr. Rolley, IF TRUE, YOUR ARTICLE IS A “BOMBSHELL” FOR NEGROES.

Any stupid pukes that keep voting for USA haters time after time, finally let the marxist/socialist free rein. Any ove that has every voted for any thee marxist/socialist dumbocrats, all want to live under total government control over them and their offspring to go back to the cotton patch.

  • http://www.cindynel.co.za peter

There is not one person on this planet today who can remotely imagine what the world will be like in 2030. The way we are going, the possibility exists that there will not be anything left, never mind having two war mongering super powers dictating the terms of survival. Good luck to everyone and keep smiling, it promises to be a real gas! Seriously, how far does anyone think we can continue on our wicked ways without something happening to restore sanity?

  • http://www.facebook.com/dan.mancuso.56 Dan Mancuso

I couldn’t help thinking, in reading that last paragraph about, “…a best case scenario as global power shifts would be the United States and China becoming strong economic allies who collaborate on a range of issues.”, that this is just more of the same homogenization of different and incompatible cultures and systems of law, through regionalization and treaties ect. to lead us all further down that slippery slope of Totalitarian Global Fascism! Scarey!!!
