Relax, Eat Chocolate To Prevent Stroke

Two new studies have been released which may help you keep from having a stroke.

First, researchers in Madrid believe that type-A personalities are more likely to have a stroke. High-strung people experience more stress and, therefore, are more likely to experience a stroke.

“This study is useful and valuable because it shows us that there is an association between stress, type A personalities and stroke risk,” said Dr. Deepak Bhatt, director of the integrated cardiovascular intervention program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. “Stress can elevate blood pressure, and high blood pressure is a major risk factor for stroke.”

Second, researchers in Stockholm suggest that eating moderate amounts of chocolate could stave off a stroke. The study found that those who ate the most chocolate had a 17 percent lower risk of stroke.

“These findings suggest that moderate chocolate consumption may lower the risk of stroke,” said co-author Susanna Larsson. “Because chocolate is high in sugar, saturated fat and calories, it should be consumed in moderation.”

So, if you want to lower your chances of having a stroke, chill out and enjoy some chocolate.

    I’m glad to hear that chocolate is now considered healthy. Every morning I drink at least one tumbler of chocolate milk. At work, I eat one Hershey Bar every day.

    I have been eating a small piece of DARK Chocolate daily for over 25 years now, I found intel on it in the most wild & cray 3500 year old text. So that begs the simple question do you think all those years ago they may have known something we are just starting to understand now or what?

    The article is incomplete as to substance. The author did not mention that dark chocolate is preferred. He also does not mention that sugar, saturated fat, and calories, are added to the chocolate bean, a vegetable to make it more palatable.

      We make hot chocolate frequently using a high quality source of dark, unsweetened
      variety, add stevia or some other non-sugar sweetener boil and enjoy. My wife likes
      to freeze a large quantity and after frozen cut into squares for a delighful snack to which
      nuts can be added for those who so choose.The method outlined above really beats
      the pain of have to pay a fortune for good dark chocolate candy.

    The scientist that says too much sugar is bad are coming out that if you take chocolate one will not have stroke, well I can not totally disprove that for now. But we need not to beam our RESEARCH LIGHT
    on some things that could not be proved with a good evidence before and after the research.

    HA, isn’t it well known that chocolate is also considered to be a very reliable aphrodisiac? Only have to eat a few pounds of it to enjoy the reward . . . What’s next?

    All the studies I have seen praise dark chocolate, more concentrated dark 86% the better, the less surgar the better, the fat content of chocolate is high in oxidants and good for your metabolism but the recomendation for consumption is 1-2oz of chocolate a day. Usually when eaten afer a meal the urge to eat more is put to rest digestion is aided….has worked for me for years…

    A ‘VERY’ poor ‘Study’, for the researchers give no reason why and how chocolate prevents strokes, other than statistics, which could have other unknown elements that prevent strokes other than chocolate involved with the statistical study group, and without a definate link of chocolate preventing stroke, the statistical study is flawed, without knowing the reaon why and how chocolate meets this studies claim of preventing strokes.

    Do you people know, the taxpayers pay for all these researches they do? I think it was on the Mike Huckabee snippit I hear on the radio during the week. I wish they would quit coming out with all this research until they know the real truth. People are just getting confused, so we have to do our own research and decide for ourselves and quit listening to all the people.
