Prosecutors are seeking a life sentence for Jordan Graham, the woman who pushed her new husband, Cody Johnson, off a cliff during their honeymoon.

Prosecutors are calling Graham dangerous, predatory, and an unrepentant murderer in documents filed in court Tuesday. Graham admitted in December to pushing her husband of 8 days over a cliff but said his death was not her intent. She says they were having an argument when she pushed him in self-defense and he fell off the cliff. She took a plea bargain for second-degree murder.

Graham’s defense attorneys are requesting that she only be sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release. Her friends have family have come down on both sides. Her best friend suggested to the court that she needs to be “locked up for a long time.” Her stepfather, however came to her defense.

“She did break the law, but I feel in my heart she did not intentionally harm anyone. I think she was so scared she didn’t know what to do.” said her stepfather.

The judge is expected to hand down her sentence next Thursday.
