Pro-gun Organizations Call On ACLU To Defend Second Amendment Rights

February 5, 2010 by

Pro-gun organizations call on ACLU to defend Second Amendment rights Citing law enforcement data that suggests murder rates have gone down while gun sales have increased, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has sought to dispute the claims that guns cause violent crime, while the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has called on civil rights organizations to protect access to guns in the United States.

SAF says a newly released FBI report found that in the first six months of 2009, murders across the nation dropped by 10 percent. Moreover, its National Instant Criminal Background Check System shows that in January 2009 gun sales rose 28.8 percent over the same month in 2008, February’s sales were up 23.3 percent and in March they were up 29.9 percent over March 2008.

"This shows… that gun prohibitionists are wrong when they argue that more guns result in more crime," said SAF executive vice president Alan Gottlieb.

"Firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens are no threat to anyone," and increasing sales may even have discouraged violent criminals, he suggested.

Meanwhile, CCRKBA reacted to the announcement from The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which said it will monitor government response to recent police shootings in Washington State to make sure no proposals violate civil rights.

"We share the ACLU’s concern that the legislature’s reaction may be to clamp down on the rights of law-abiding citizens without accomplishing anything," stated CCRKBA chairman Alan Gottlieb, emphasizing that the right to keep and bear arms is constitutionally enshrined.

The ACLU is not to be trusted. Any group that claims to adore the First or Second Amendment – but does it’s worst to to act like a domestic enemy – is not to be trusted. The ACLU has a long and documented, anti-American history.
On a good day, the ACLU is as honorable as Marx or Lenin or Shakespeare’s Iago. On a typical day, the ACLU serves NO purpose in this country. Trust this group only if you hate being free.
Ship the ACLU to an ‘enlightened’ country like Iran. They need the ACLU. America doesn’t, never did and never will.

    • Harold Olsen

Along with the Democrat party, the ACLU is the worst hate group in the country.

      • JeffH

Harold Olsen, you might want to add The HUMANE Society onto that list.

        • J C

And PETA.In fact we are surrounded with hate groups who claim to be acting in our best interests.

          • JeffH

The problem is that these groups pose as something they don’t even believe in. Their organizations are purely political with an agenda that provides not for the animals they use to promote their cause.

          • Claire

JC—Peta is a filthy organization. I cannot believe they would rather see dogs and cats killed, etc. instead of being in good homes!! My husband and I love our dogs and sometimes I think they have a better life than some children, which doesn’t seem right either. My husband used to hunt all the time, and he always trained his own dogs. He has NEVER ended up with a gun shy dog!! He has the patience of a Saint and truly enjoys his dogs. And the dogs love him. Now, with all his health issues, he can no longer hunt. He can’t do the walking anymore. And as silly as it may sound, NO ONE will get his guns or his dogs. He would fight tooth and toenail, pardon the slang expression. And if PETA comes to my town, I WILL protest. I know a lot of people and I would form a protest march, we’ll run them outta town!

        • Claire

The dog clubs I belong to are fully aware of Peta and the Humane Society. Peta has infiltrated dog shows and released dogs on the show site and guess what??!!Some were run over and killed. PETA believes the dogs should be free, whether they get killed or not. America is being bombarded with these nuts. Americans have to fight back, and put an end to these terrorist groups, ACLU, all of them. Yes, they are terrorists!! And I am sick and tired of them.

          • JC

Claire, they’re actually out to kill every domestic pet they can get their filthy hands on.

    • independant thinker

I was contacted by the ACLU seeking a donation or my becoming a member. I replied by asking their stand on private firearm ownership. Their answer was they do not believe the second amendment applies to an individual right but rather a collective one. In other words only the state sponsered militia’s (national guard)right to bear arms is protected by the second amendment. Needless to say I did not send them a controbution and told them why I could never support them.

    • DaveH

The only reason the ACLU would safeguard our 2nd Amendment rights is to protect their potentially violent fellow Liberals from being disarmed.

  • JeffH

This is an interesting approach. I agree that the ACLU can’t be trusted, but this kind of puts the ball in their court, so to speak.
With the pending NRA vs Chicago waiting to be heard, Holder wouldn’t say when the administration would make it’s push to revive the “assault weapons” ban but Feinstein vowed to pick her time to revive the controversial assault weapons ban which was viewed as a failure when it was allowed to expire in 2004 , the appointment of Sotomayor who wrote, “The right to possess a gun is not a fundamental right”. Obama had a 100% anti-gun voting record as a senator. All this comes at a time when the FBI says the number of murders in 2009 decreased by 10% which would be the greatest one year drop since 1960. Those figures fly in the face of the standard anti-gun rhetoric, which is based largely on the contention that more guns equal more crime.
Thee attacks by the anti-gun establishment will use whatever means necessary including the use of the publicly funded National Institute of Health that released a study which claims that gun ownership increases the risk of being shot by 4-5 times. Critics have debunked their methodology and the research was never clearly stated.

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

I don’t know what the National Health has any say on guns. They can’t even get it right on Health concerns such as the H1N1 virus. Any how, my daughter owns a printing business and one of her clients runs a school for citizens to qualify for their Concealed Weapons Permit. They are so backed up, that persons applying have to wait six months to even get in school. This all started when Obama took office. Does that tell you anything. In Switzerland every citizen 18 years or older has to have a weapon and qualify yearly – it is the law. They will be fined if they don’t. Guess what country has very little if any violent crimes. You got it.

      • http://Don'thaveone Sally

PS. As a side note. This year because the ACLU is so against Christians and using the word Christmas etc etc, my email group all sent Christmas cards to the ACLU and of course we passed it all over the internet. I’m hoping the others did the same. Can’t you see the mailman delivering bags and bags of Christmas cards that they would have to open just in case it really was a donation.

        • s c

This is a most worthy cause, Sally. I’m all for lighting a roaring fire under the ACLU’s posterior. If they were convinced that many donations were headed their way, they would feel ‘forced’ to open every letter.
And, since the ACLU would need help in getting all that easy money, they would need ‘help.’ ACORN, obummer’s pet group, is the logical choice for this great task. Of course, the ACLU may have to sacrifice a few bucks to get that help, and it may cause some friction between the two groups (tough). It would be like creating jobs (something that obummer just doesn’t get).
Jam it down their misgbegotten, America-hating throats. The ACLU needs to be seen for what it is. It is nothing less than an organized, nation-destroying cancer. Anyone who thinks the ACLU is a positive force never learned the difference between positive and negative.

  • Robert

Now why would anybody in their right mind think that the Arab Civil Liberties Unions would support the right to bear arms by Americans. Arabs, Muslims in the United States absolutley, the rest of us No Way.

    • Harold Olsen

Absolutely right. The ACLU files lawsuits against schools that teach anything remotely related to Christianity but are fine with schools in California forcing students to study the Islamic religion and even dress up in Muslim garb.

      • http://Don'thaveone Sally

This one I had not seen nor heard. Thanks Harold

Harold, show us a link that proves that statement you just made.

ACLU Files Federal Lawsuit Against White County, Georgia School District for Illegally Blocking Gay-Straight Alliance Club

ACLU Files Federal Lawsuit Against White County, Georgia School District for Illegally Blocking Gay-Straight Alliance Club

Attorneys backed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee have filed suit in federal court against the Cheatham County Board of Education for its alleged unconstitutional pattern and practice of religious activities.

The cross was used by those who hated Christianity, first to kill Jesus and then in an attempt to kill the faith. Today, the symbol of that same cross is so feared in secular society that their own “personal terrorist” has been sent to rip it away from the followers of Christ.

This terrorist has a name, and it is the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Rooted in hate and communist philosophy, it cloaks itself in constitutional phraseology and the American flag. In reality, it remains faithful to seeking the destruction of American principles.

          • Claire

The ACLU makes me sick to my stomach. I even get requests to donate. I won’t tell you what I put on the form and send back.

Harold, give link about forcing student to study Islam.

          • JeffH

According to a WorldNetDaily.com story titled “Islamic studies
required in California district” posted 1/2/02, students there are
required to learn about this prominent world religion. However,
students were not going to be doing this via the traditional social
studies methodology of reading a standard text detached in tone about
the tenets of this system of belief and its impact upon the world in
terms of history, geography, and culture. Rather, the curriculum
required students to live out Islam. This was to be achieved by
having students memorize Koranic verses, praying in the name of Allah,
adopting an Islamic name, and staging a pretend jihad.

Islam studies required in California district
Course has 7th-graders memorizing Koran verses, praying to Allah

Course in Islam angers parents: California middle school has students role-playing and dressing as Muslims

BRENTWOOD, CA (ANS) — As children return to school this week, following the Christmas break, 7th graders in a growing number of public schools, who are not permitted to wear a cross or speak the name of Jesus, will be required to attend an intensive three week course on Islam; a course in which students are mandated to learn the tenets of Islam, study the important figures of the faith, wear a robe, adopt a Muslim name and stage their own Jihad.

In Byron, California, parents were outraged when students came home with their handouts and were told what was being taught. Their complaints to the school principal not only were ignored, but officials of this public school, funded by tax dollars, essentially fluffed them off.
            http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/b/byronislam.htm

          • DaveH

Is that all you could come up with Jeff? That won’t be enough for EyesWideShut. Of course, if they were teaching Christianity, one link would be enough for her.

          • Claire

JeffH–I pulled up this site. My God Almighty, what is happening to America??!! I cannot believe the California school district allows this garbage. I can tell you one thing, if something like that happens in my town,I will raise he–. I am thoroughly disgusted.
Here in town it appears we will lose 30 police officers by the end of the month. The major asked police officers to take furlough days, and a smaller pay raise. The union will not negotiate. I bet I would take a few furlough days and a “small” pay raise in order to keep my job. But, (the big but) it appears they may lose their jobs anyway whether they agree or not. The crime rate stinks. Thanks to our corrupt government, they have made Illinois a sink hole. That disgusting Blago is still running around loose. He is crazy. Sorry, I did not mean to harp. I am going to have to keep on sending letters. It won’t do any good, but I can try.

          • JeffH

Claire, as far as I know, that has been squashed in our schools.

          • J C

Gee did anyone notice EWO and Coal Miner seem to have shut right up on this one? Good work Jeff….and shame on the California school system.

        Harold,

Where do you and these right wing loonies come up with this horse(s***T)?Eyes, there is no proof to substantiate these statements. He is worse than that fake lawyer.I thought this thread was about the right to bear arms.I support that right. This guy belongs in a cracker house.

        • Dylan

Shut the hell up coalminer. This blog is for conservatives and they can talk about anything they want.
You on the other hand are a well known liberal socialist slug that is here to disrupt the site, just like you ALWAYS try and do on the other page. Get a life you worthless fool. Go polish your royal master obamas boots so they will be nice and shiny when he eventually steps on your throat when you are no longer of any use to him.

          • DaveH

That’s “thug” Dylan. Coal Miner is a Union Thug who can’t see the light through the coal dust film on his eyes.

        • Dylan

LOL, yes thug and slug are synonymous in this case, but slug fits him better because of the way he always “slimes” his way into the blogs. ha ha ha, also he is a few neurons short of a synapse, which slugs are also lacking ha ha ha
I doubt he is actually a real coal miner. I think most of those people are really hard working conservatives, and I did not mean to imply that my comment was directed at them.

          • Stephaan

            Question to coalminer,
How can you say you support the 2nd amendment, and the right for law abiding citizens to own a gun, when you are a bleeding heart liberal?
You can’t have it both ways, unless of course you don’t understand that it is your liberal socialist party that is the champion of gun control.

OH YEAH I forgot that every word out of a liberals mouth is a LIE!! ha ha ha… OR maybe what you meant was that you want only obamas civilian military force to have guns. Whatever the case, you are a LIAR, and DECEIVER just like your Lord obummer, and all his socialist slimeballs.

          • coal miner

            Dylan,

Do you know where the word thug comes from? It is from India. It is a religious cult. They are known as Thugges.I be careful about using that word,in a derogatory way.You and Dave, may meet the real thing. They are very sensitive about that word being toss around. It is death to outsiders, that uses their sacred name. They are followers of Kali, the consort of Shiva.Go to India and find out. They have been a rash of broken necks,in that part of India, here lately. They are surfacing.Chow!

          • DaveH

They couldn’t possibly be any scarier than Obama.

          • Dylan

LOL, Obama, Clinton, and a myriad of other politicians have used it, so I’m not too worried. Besides I don’t live in India, but thanks for the education.

          • coal miner

            Dylan,

That comes a surprise to me.I stared to work for Red bird coal company at the age of seventeen, that was in the forties,it played out,in other words it went out of business(ten years)I work for Leco Coal Company for thirty years and retired, with a healthy pension, I owe it all to United Mines Workers Union Now I am going repeat this one more time,so a moron like you can understand. When I started work in the coal mines,I had a hard hat, carbide light attach to my hat and metal knee pads for crawling .Later when the mines was unionise we switch over to electric lights. Here are the equipment that I used and safety procedures.

1:Rock dust( keeps explosion down, scab mines try to get around it by not using it,the results some time deadly)
2:Running augars: They have to have guards on them:Scabs mines don’t,very dangerous.
3:Rods and Bolts: this to bolt the top up to keep or prevent cave ins(Union length bolts:Three feet, scab mines usually twelve inches and allways people are getting hurt or kill.
            4: Timber and bradishes

The three deadly gases and myths:

            1:Methane
            2:Carbon dioxide( bad air)
            3:Carbon monoxide (very rare)

            Myths

            1: Canaries( TV myth)We used equipments,not birds.
2:All miners are illiterate( we had future doctors, state policemen and one I work with, briefly, the governor of Kentucky: Bert Galbert Combs.
3:No women works in mines:False,we had girls working their way, through college and became professional career women,in all walks of life.

1:Union mines are a safe enviorment to work in.
2:Scab mines unsafe and unpleasant to work in.

1:We are proud and very patriotic ( soldiers that serve in the arm forces, all four wars. Most are politically conservtive.
2:I am a moderate,I voted for Nixion,he was the only one I trusted.I thinking about voting for Dr.Ron Paul,if he runs.I like to see Ralph Nader as his running mate. That is it.

          • Dylan

Now I’m confused. Are there two “coal miners” on here? I have nothing against real coal miners. They are some hard working –, just like loggers from my side of the country. My rant above was for the person on these blogs that uses the name coal miner and because he was bitchin about my conservative friends posts.

For all the coal miners on this blog whether they are real or fake!! This post above, is the post I was ranting about!
            1. The key words that tipped me off that he is not a conservative are when he said “right wing loonies” in the first sentence!!
            2. Eyes wide open is also a liberal and coalminer is siding with her on disputing Harolds post
            3. coalminer has made it clear he is a liberal on the other page titled “Liberty Alert Slamming the Supremes” where he also posts and totally blasts people with conservative opinions.

            To coalminer the liberal:
            1. Harold is not a loony. Follow any of the 3 links that Jeff H posted below Harolds post.
            2. Ron Paul was my man in the last election, and I know his policies well, but he is the exact opposite of your man obama, so why pretend to be a conservative?

        • Joe H.

          Scab miner,
First, if you check, you will find a source listed for that comment.
          Second, what is a spinner?

        • Stephaan

Ummmmm? Yeah coal miner. If Ron Paul really is your man, how can you use words like “right wing loonies” That is liberal socialist talk!
I believe you done been caught with a knot in your tongue sonny.

  • Michael J.

The ACLU has been anti American since it’s conception. Any actions initiated by this organization will end badly for American conservatives. Here’s a breif bio on the ACLU’s founder.

Roger Baldwin, the first director of the ACLU, was a communist. He explains in his book, Liberty Under the Soviets, “I joined. I don’t regret being a part of the Communist tactic, which increased the effectiveness of a good cause. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the Communists wanted…”
William Z. Foster, then National Chairman of the Communist Party USA and an ACLU co-founder, is famous for this 1932 quote: “The establishment of an American Soviet government will involve the confiscation of large landed estates in town and country, and also, the whole body to forests, mineral deposits, lakes, rivers and so on.” He was the author of “Toward Soviet America”.

Not the kind of folks i’d trust to negotiate our right to keep and bear arms.

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Michael, you are so right. You just answered my question. Now I know why Congress will not give out any more leases for oil drilling. I just couldn’t fathom with so much oil in the US and companies that can process, why we were not able to drill and get out from under the importation of foreign oil plus at the time we need it so badly would create hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs.

  • Harold Olsen

The ACLU defend the Second Amendment or anything else in OUR Constitution? That’s a laugh. The only thing in the Constitution that they defend is the “separation of church and state.” The only trouble is that that only appears in the constitution of the USSR not ours. THAT is the only constitution that they defend.

    • jim

Hi Harold, Maybe if we convinced the ACLU that the church is against us having guns, they would work really hard to make sure we each have to own one.(sarcasm). I do like the irony of the ACLU& the NRA working for the same cause, but I remane sceptical.

      • DaveH

I would look at anything they do in the defense of guns as a possible Trojan Horse. We need to keep the ACLU away from our gun rights regardless of which side they claim to be taking.

        • Claire

DaveH–I talked to my husband about this issue. His first reply was not too agreeable and he said the ACLU needs to stay out of it. He said ACLU has their own so-called goals and this issue may “sound” good to some but he doesn’t trust it. He said it will probably backfire. It is just another way for the ACLU to get their claws in us. Geez, I can’t imagine anyone trying to take his guns and his right to own guns away.

          • DaveH

            Good for your Hubby!

  • ONTIME

Does this not strike you as similiar to the Tebow situation? The pro abortion people are in a real quandry as to what to do and are flailing about for a proper retort to Tebow without appearing to step upon the free speech issue.

To ask the ACLU to defend gun rights as stated in the Second Constitutional amendment is like asking them to take poison and damn well tell everyone, “Taste great!” It is a compromising situation for them and it is going to be really interesting to whatch them squirm or try to find a reason not to accept…Ya gotta love the thinking.

    • s c

Ontime, you could say the cases are similar. However, let us be painfully clear in one regard. The self-made losers on the ‘pro choice’ side have gotten away with third-rate English and a diabolical hatred of morality for many years. Beyond that, a great deal of MONEY constantly changes hands while babies are laughtered in the temporary guise of a constitutional ‘protected status’.
The distinction to be made here is very simple. There is a PRO LIFE side of the issue, and there is a PRO DEATH side.
One puts a high moral value on a baby’s life in the mother’s womb. The other side is proud of life-destroying principles pushed by Margaret Sanger and Hitler’s Nazis (even Teddy Roosevelt was a willing part of the early eugenics movemnt).
To let those weasels call themselves “pro choice” is to bastardize the English language, and let them continue to practice their empty double standards and baby-killing ‘morality’). DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THAT!

      • Meteorlady

HELLOOOOOOOOO…… this article is about gun control/rights. What are you ranting about?

        • Julie

          Meteorlady;
It is accepted practice for posters to go off on a tangent from time to time. This is a kind of learn about everything experience, and use it for your advantage for your own pet projects. ie: After the subj. went from 2nd amendment, to abortion, I learned something about case law and the Constitution, that could have an affect on 2nd amendment issues, so it all comes back to square one eventually. Bear with us, we always get back on track.

  • d3fault

As to our gun rights and the constitution: Just why are we waiting for the USSC to redecide something that was decided in our constitution. IMHO all this does is allow the progressives in charge to take away a right we already have. Tends to upset one, doesn’t it. :=)

You need not be of one particular party to be a progressive. One look at all the legislation in case law out of any of our congress since around 1912 will prove this as they make their living creating and passing laws that go against our constitution. One of the few with a voting record I can believe in is Ron Paul. Sorry, but I don’t fit in the box you have tried to stuff me in.

How to tell a progressive from a conservative

This is really very simple. If they are trying to write new laws they are a progressive no matter what party they belong to. A conservative knows that our constitution already has all the laws we need in it laid out quite explicitly. A true conservative should be busy repealing laws that have been laid in place since then because they break the true laws of our constitution. Everything going on out here is based off case law which is subject to change with each new case being the precedent. This has no basis in constitutional law. We have wandered so far from the reality of our constitution that it no longer exists.
    Think about it.

    • Stephaan

All posters here who have stated the A.C.L.U. CAN NOT BE TRUSTED are correct. It does not stand for what the A. C. & L. of it’s acronym suggests, and maybe never did. The U. is the only accurate part.
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I have been trying to think of what possible answer/excuse for the ACLU to use to get out of this one without looking like hypocrites and I can’t think of one, but I doubt that they will ever support the 2nd amendment.
If the 2nd amendment is a “civil liberty” and in my humble opinion it is, then I can see no way the ACLU can worm their way out of this one.
They will probably try and ignore it, “pretend” it isn’t there, and hope the elephant in the room just goes away.

    • git it right

d2fault, was fine with your comments, right up till you tried to blame the “progressives case laws currently in effect” Dude, you are blaming progressives for all the bad laws. What is wrong in America today is that one party thinks they are perfect and have never passed a bad law, and being accountable for fiscal policies isn’t possible, as they won’t even admit that they were in power. The other party, hasn’t governed in so long that they don’t know how to use their majority to correct the problems we have. They act like whimps. What ever happened to majority rules? Senators should be happy getting 41% of their agenda passed, they only represent that percentage. Why do they think they should get 100% and that they are right about all issues? Thought you were going to be fair and objective, right up till you blamed the progressives for all the case laws in effect.

      • Judy

        to Get it Right:
Hey Dude or Dudette, are you a liberal, a conservative, or a moderate? I am totally confused. Some of what you state makes “some” sense to me, BUT much of what you post and the way you post it is just not within most peoples understanding as far as the scope. You first appear as someone who used to be a “complete bleeding heart liberal” that has possibly changed and become more moderate and more rational in your views. Do you know where you lie on the political spectrum? If so please explain.
Whatever you are, lib., con., or mod., try and temper your remarks a bit. ex: your posts to d3fault & others.

      • d3fault

You don’t seem to get my point. I could care less what party they are in. A progressive is a progressive, and yes their case laws have literally ruined this country. You keep putting me in the pub party and I’ve stated twice that I hate them just as much. All I want is for the government to follow our constitution.
        End of story.

        • DaveH

          D3fault,
If ‘git it’ would just read your posts, he would “get it”. I understood what you were saying easily. And you’re right, there are progressives (I call them Liberals) in both major parties. But they are certainly more prevalent in the Democrat Party.
The only party I know that understands the concept of Freedom is the Libertarian Party:
          http://libertarianparty.org/platform

          • JeffH

It seems that there is a politcaly correct move to start calling liberals progressive now. That is the “new” old word being tossed around on TV and cable as well as talk radio. Let us not forget, a spade is a spade, and a liberal is a liberal.

          • DaveH

I’ve heard that too, Jeff. It’s similar to their calling Global Warming “Climate Change”. They can’t sell their bull with facts so they try to cloud the issue.

      • libertytrain

JEFF H – this git it right sounds more like eyes style.

        • JeffH

I’ve just ignored it…so boring anymore.

  • d3fault

And sorry to the rest of you folks for my getting off the subject of this article but “get it right” is requiring replies. It appears he/she can’t read. I thought that this was a conservative place, but now I realize that there appears to be some progressives here with more time on their hands than they know what to do with. Why don’t you get it right and go back over to moveon.org where you belong? I’m not over there wasting your time. oh, but that’s your objective, I forgot. Go get a life. Simply living to mess with others heads is a dead end and a waste of time.

    • Dylan

      d3fault:
You are correct. The conservative sites, including this one are infested with liberals/socialists/progressives etc. They just come here to try and disrupt the site so we can’t get anything done. It is a typical liberal ploy. Rest assured that the conservatives here understand exactly what you were saying. The liberals…. not so much… They will never say they understand the point you are making even though they probably do. They are just here to try and waste your time. They just can’t admit it to you. It’s all about winning the argument thing for the libs. lol… It’s really funny when liberals start attacking other liberals as evidenced above.

      • JeffH

It is extremely important to allow these liberal hacks to display their hate and disgust for this conservative website.
All they accomplish is a strengthening of our resolve to fight them off and defeat them and those they support. As you all can see there is no worse venom spewed than that by the angry haters that think they are above us “peons”. They throw out their lies like you would toss out the trash. To them it is a hatred for anything Bush or Republican. They fail to relize that many of us are pissed at the two parties and the government, but nooooo, it’s always Bush, Cheney, 8 years or Reagan and most of all Republicans. Don’t forget Beck and Limbaugh and “FAUX” FOX. They can’t handle the truth!

        • JeffH

plus the fact that Obama is a liar and we don’t trust him and his forked tongue, but noooo we are all racists, not because we don’t like his idealogy or his agenda to destroy a free America, but because of his ethnicity. Pretty screwed up ya think?

        • DaveH

I agree JeffH. The beauty of an open dialogue is that subject matter is brought out into the open where it can be refuted. Too many people harbor ridiculous ideas because they have not been exposed to alternate ways of thinking.
For instance, I have a cousin living in the San Francisco area who is very intelligent and very Liberal. I can’t really blame him because the newspapers in that area mostly give the Liberal side of things, so how could he learn otherwise? With the Internet, though, it is getting much easier to be informed about all sides of an issue.
I have no problem with Liberal commenter’s who state their case without resorting to manipulative tactics like name-calling or ridicule.

    • eyeswideopen

d3fault,, this site is called “Personal Liberty.” Guess what, you are not the owner of this site. He didn’t name it the Personal Conservative Liberty site now did he? Bob Livingston, knows that freedom means that everyone has a voice, not just a select few, that feel as though they have the answers to all the problems. I guess that Bob, wanted a free exchange of ideas, or he would have named this site differently wouldn’t you think? D3fault, I don’t think that Bob Livingston is at a loss for words he writes quite well and he probably gave great thought to naming his site. So, please get down off that pedestal with your condescending attitute and stop trying to throw people off the site, it is not your place to do so.

    • Meteorlady

I disagree – all people, whatever they believe, should be here. It’s an exchange of ideas – well most of the time anyway. Sometimes it all gets to be name calling and other insults. That’s not right, nor is it right to keep hammering away at things and quoting ideas that are presented with a slanted view or are downright wrong. Intelligent discourse is presented through reading, researching and presenting facts and figures.

If people here can’t exchange ideas in a polite way, then we need to reassess our beliefs.

      • Meteorlady

Ops – I was replying to Dylan with the above.

      • Stephaan

        Meteorlady;
The liberals on THIS page are very civil compared to some of the others. Go to the “slamming the supremes” page where the subj.is “obamas unjust words” There you will see some of the best examples of racist & foul mouthed liberals who are paid by A.C.O.R.N. to come to the conservative blogs, and try and totally disrupt us from our debates. (one appears to be a prison inmate)
There, on the last 1/2 of the blogs you will see such players as Gentleman Jim, a foul mouth racist, who uses 4 letter words every chance he gets. He is so bad that he is the only one to get his entire page censored, and received a copy of this sites “comment policy” printed in its place.
There are many others, two of which come to mind named coal miner, and denniso who are much the same. When they can’t debate the issues they resort to name calling and complaining about your spelling and grammar etc. It is just their way of “baiting” otherwise rational people into playing their game, and wasting our time and disrupting the blog. They have proven quite successful with this tactic, and I have fallen into their traps as well, and have been censored because I am not man enough to turn the other cheek. There is no such thing as “civilly” debating with those types of liberals.
Another point on debating liberals, even the ones who “seem rational”
95% of them have already made up their minds long ago. They know what the score is, and they are quite satisfied with their liberal socialist beliefs, and way of life. You can waste your time trying to educate them as to what is wrong with this country and our government, and all the time they are listening, but they do not give your arguments one iota of credence, and they never will. They are just happy that they have managed to engage you in an endless debate, and waste “your” time on here.

  • TIME

The point is to use them aginst themselfs, thats very clear in the scope of this issue. Now ask yourself this question; what better way to do such, use a group that shows its hate toward the US, then to use them to secure your rights.

We all understand that the ACLU have done many things in the past that with out question go aginst the very core of the grain of Freedoms you all think you have.
Yet please note what I keep saying “the FREEDOMS” you think you have.

There are laws on the books that have not yet been enforced, these sleeper laws are no less of a threat to your life let alone your life style than Barry’s obvious assaults.

So I see this a very good thing, stay positive.

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

How can we expect any help from the ACLU?? Like any other leftwing outfit, the ACLU will only defend those parts of our Constitution which they deem appropriate to advance their leftwing agenda!!

  • JeffH

Like I said earlier, this is an interesting approach.

  • Independent

Jim, go back and read the article. I did not see the NRA mentioned, only the 2nd Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. I have been a member of the NRA for years, but often wonder why. They have been sitting around sll of that time with one thumb in their mouth and one in their butt, waiting for someone to say “Switch”. I get tons of mail from them wanting more money. I am also a Life Member of CCRKBA. It and the 2nd Amendment Foundation were both founded by the same man.

  • Joe H.

    JeffH,
IMHO This would be the fox guarding the hen house!!! what’s to stop them from purposly losing the case and saying sorry we tried our best?!?!?!?!

  • d3fault

Since this conversation went from firearms to abortion, let’s remember one simple fact. Our constitution does not allow either side to pass a law for either side, as it is a part of personal choice. If you want an abortion, get one AND pay for it. If you don’t, then don’t get one and don’t pay for someone else’s unless you desire to. Let’s get back on our constitution as we haven’t been on it for a long time now. Case law is illegal under our constitution.
I also am against the ACLU, however I think these guys are on track to force the ACLU do to something real for the constitution, but I highly doubt it will work.

  • http://messagedoctrine.com brian kocourek

Pro Choice is a lie to begin with because it implies choice when the baby is given none. Pro murder is the true definition of abortion.

  • jim

Hi Independent, I had more time to read the article, thanks for the heads up.

  • JeffH

Independent, I beg to differ with you about the NRA. They do a lot of solicitation for donations, but they are the most powerful Pro-gun organization in the United States. They work their butts off for your and my freedom. You might think they sit around, but I don’t think that is a fair and accurte opinion. There are many good pro-gun organizations to choose from.
I respect your opinion, just disagree.

  • d3fault

While I agree absolutely with you, it’s not in our constitution for that decision to be made by anyone other than that individual. It’s issues like this that have eroded our constitution beyond repair.

  • JeffH

I hear you, but both of us know the ACLU won’t touch it with a 10ft. pole.

  • jim

d3fault, once the imbilical cord is cut I can’t kill them, how come before? Do you need a bellybutton to be protected by the law?

  • DaveH

    D3fault,
I agree that society has become embroiled with one side or the other trying to legislate their personal beliefs. I do think abortion is a very gray area, but still that choice should be made by the mother, as, after all, nobody has a greater stake in that decision than she does. Let religion assume an advisory role, but not a compulsory role. And by all means the state should not be using the tax money of anti-abortionists to fund abortions (or anybody else’s money for that matter).
We will all be dead and gone in a few short years. Can we just try to respect the freedom of others to mind their own bodies and property in that time?

  • Joe H.

    Jim,
Good reply, good reply!!! They want it both ways. If you cause an accident and kill a child while it’s still in the womb, you can be charged with murder! This Dr. does the same thing and it’s legal!!! What a crock!!!

  • d3fault

Great reply and I totally agree. This is just like the law of you being legally liable under case law for your child until they’re 18, yet they have major rights at much younger ages and you can barely discipline them. Again, this is only legal under case law which is illegal under constitutional law. Almost everything that’s been passed since 1920 is illegal. I’ve never opined here, but I sure like most the comments I read. I just wish more people would read and understand our constitution against the progressive’s case laws currently in effect.

  • git it right

D3fault, if you think that only the progressives or liberals are the only ones who have passed laws in this country, you are getting the kool aid by IV. I know everybody here on this site wants to kill the liberals, or send them to another country, but now to blame them for all the laws you don’t like. Honestly, it is easy to see why you aren’t taken seriously by the Independents. Let’s recap the Conservative/Republican viewpoints.
    The liberals are responsible for:
All the bad laws ever passed. Patriot Act?
All the social programs—some that you even like(Medicare Advantage)
All the ignorant children,…even though you were all educated mostly in public schools.
All the corrupt politicians….even the Republican ones.List is long.
All the Wars….ha ha ha.. think Bush.
All the corrupt corporations….think Haliburton, Blackwater..AIG, Goldman Sachs, Enron, Bernie Madoff,
All the Illegal immigrants. Reagan granted 3 million amnesty.
All the failing marriages..even if they are adulter’s like Vitter, Ensign, Stamford, who happen to be Repubs.
All the bad trade agreements….think Bush sr, and Reagan= NAFTA
ALL the sinning Christians. OOps, only Repubs/Conserv are Christians.
    All the unrully children.
    All the Natural disasters.
All the abortions.. no Republicans never get them…Think of Barry Goldwaters daughter.
All the earmarks, as we know the Repubs never take them..Think of RonPaul and his 75 million.
All the unwed mothers.. oops, think of Palins daughter.
Since the Dem’s are responsible for all the ills of this country, it must mean that the Repubs/ consrvs do absoutely nothing at all. I know that if you would ever have owned any companies, educated any lawyers, doctors, children, you certainly would have made this a perfect place to live, by making changes when you had the political power….since you obviously never have had power, as we have all these problems today. So, since you don’t participate and aren’t responsible for any of the problems this country has, why don’t you just make crowns for yourselves so nobody forgets how perfect you all are? Then everybody can bow down to the “Perfect beings.”
How did you ever let them have control for 230 years? Shame on you.

  • DaveH

    Git it Right,
I am only going to address a few issues on your laundry list.
The Patriot Act was only rejected by one Democrat in the Senate. And only about 20% of the Democrats in the House voted against it. Maybe the Liberal Citizens are against it, but I suspect that the Liberal Leaders rub their hands in glee at the power it gives them.
Not all of us like Medicare, but our money is being taken to support it, so should we just forego what we’ve paid for?
Being educated in public schools means we should quit thinking and blindly accept the propagandizement of our children?
When it comes to growing the size of Government, the Liberals are the champions, hands down. If you don’t believe that, go to the Congressional sites and start reading through the roll call votes for passed Bills. The Democrats rarely see a spending bill that they don’t love.

  • Joe H.

    Git it right,
How many times do you people have to be told Bush was not a republican???? He was a RINO!!! A Progressive!!! Are you people blind as well as deaf????

    http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Articles/Read.aspx?id=350&issue=021

  • eyeswideopen

Jeff, Cass, believes in the right of gun ownership, how is that going off track? You just don’t like it,cause you don’t like him. Funny,he would fight for your rights. What? Someone other than a Repub or Consv. believing in gun rights? Yes, Jeff, your party isn’t the only gun owners.

  • JeffH

Garble what you want. It is obvious that you would support anything that has to do with this “nut case” just for the sake of disagreeing. An animal has the same or more rights to legal council than a human being? You can own a gun but only for targeting or sporting purposes as long as you don’t kill a “game animal”.

“My coming view is that the individual right to bear arms reflects the success of an extremely aggressive and resourceful social movement and has much less to do with good standard legal arguments than [it] appears.”
Mr. Sunstein said, “My tentative suggestion is that the individual right to have guns as it’s being conceptualized now is best taken as a contemporary creation and a reflection of current fears – not a reading of civic-centered founding debates.”
If you can’t understand what he is saying then you are more naive than I ever thought. Then maybe naive is a poor choice of words.

“Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? Where is the difference between having our arms under our own possesion and under our own direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?”
    - Patrick Henry

  • DaveH

    Eyes,
Liberals Lie. Just like you do.
Why would Sunstein even make such a statement “it’s a contemporary creation based on modern interpretations and fears” if he believed it was an individual right created by the 2nd Amendment?
Of course Cass Sunstein is going to state otherwise in public now. It would be political suicide to say he didn’t support gun rights. The Liberals will just go back to taking their baby-steps in their ultimate goal to disarm us. I’m sure one of their big goals is to replace a Conservative Justice with an Activist Justice.
I had a Political Science teacher in College who said that retarded people were very conservative because they were afraid of change. He quickly followed that up with the statement that he didn’t mean to imply that Conservative people were retarded. Sure, of course he would cover his butt, but the seed was planted. Liberals are sly devils. They’re not about to say any words that they can’t wiggle out of later.

  • Joe H.

    JeffH,
I especially like cass’s Idea of putting birth control in the public water!!!! Or his idea of if a rat can’t be removed from a house without harm, it should be left alone!!!! Buggs would say “What a maroon!!!”

  • Joe H.

    JeffH,
Good ole’ fat Rosie O’donnel stated that she was against gun ownership and even got the guest chorus she had on her show to change the name of Annie Get Your Gun to something else for her show. this was the day before her bodyguard applied for a CCW permit!!! guess it only applies to us peons, right?

  • eyeswideopen

JeffH, did you not read the statement “I strongly believe that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to posses and use guns for purposes of both hunting and self defense. I agree with the Supreme Court decision in the Heller case, clearly recongnizing the individual right to have guns for hunting and self defense. If confirmed, I would respect the Second Amendment and the individual right that it recongnizes.” What more do you want? The Conservatives are not the only group that believes in the right to bear arms.

  • Stephaan

    EYES WIDE CLOSED,
You try and tell a “good” story but I would say that this one sentence in your post makes you rather… “suspect” shall we say.

Your EXACT words—->If confirmed, I would respect the Second Amendment and the individual right that it recongnizes.

WTF does that mean “You would respect it, if confirmed?” I see two problems with your statement.

    1. You don’t respect the 2nd amendment NOW, because it hasn’t been confirmed? In whos’ opinion? Yours? And WTF does that mean.

    2. Why the hell does it have to be confirmed AGAIN in order for it to be in effect? This tells me you don’t RESPECT IT OR RECOGNIZE IT NOW!

It has already been DECIDED AND “CONFIRMED” 200 years ago when the fathers of the C.O.T.U.S. added the second amendment TO THE C.O.T.U.S. and it was ratified.

Who are you waiting for to confirm it? Your yoga instructor?

Open your eyes and WAKE UP!!

  • eyeswideopen

Stephaan, you fit right in with the group, what are you trying to accomplish?
First, I didn’t say that I didn’t respect the 2nd amendment, I was quoting what someone else said. I believe I even put the sentence in quotes.
Secondaly, Who said it had to be confirmed again? That seems to be your interpretation of what you read. Cass was being considered for an appointment which would require confirmation. You somehow what to take someone quotes and situation and make them attributal to me. Something the radicals are very good at, except this time. You wanted to jump right in here and in trying to get “good doobie” points for attacking someone that your buddy doesn’t like, instead you look like a complete nut case.

  • Stephaan

EYES WIDE ? (whether open or closed is still up for debate)

If your post wasn’t so vague, and ambiguous, maybe I could have understood it. When you are quoting someone else, STATE that persons name, then follow with quotation marks, so everyone knows it’s “them” speaking and not you!
I agree with you on the second amendment. It is the most INPORTANT ONE, because it defends ALL the amendments, the Constitution, and FREEDOM itself!
What I don’t understand is how you can support liberal socialist politicians, and their ideals, when you (as a 2nd amendment supporter) must know that they only want to subvert the Constitution and the amendments to it?
The first step towards their goal is ALWAYS to attack the 2nd amendment first! Once they destroy it, then everything is gone, and freedom as we know it, will be gone!! You will be left with a rock, or a stick to defend yourself, whether it be against a rapist, a murderer, or OUR TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT!
Where do you come up with your racist, “old white men” theory?
I have believed in the 2nd amendment since before I was old enough to vote, as I’m sure most 2nd amendment supporters have.
I will vote for a politician who supports the 2nd amendment, before any other issue, always have, and always will.

  • Liberal Lucy

    eyeswideopen:
I have no axe to grind either way, but Stephan is correct. You should always put the persons name who you are referencing, the one who made the original statement, and then declare that you are quoting them so there is no confusion. I also thought it was you who was speaking.

  • Lew in Idaho

The best we can hope for here is to embarass the idiots at ACLU and force them to look in the mirror and see themselves for the hippocrits they really are.
As far as the second amendment goes, only you can uphold your right with your finger on the trigger. With nearly 75 million gun owners in this country, we have about thirty patriots for every soldier in uniform in China. Your guns will only be taken if you agree. For me, I KNOW that life will be nothing but sheer hell after gun confiscation. What we’ve seen so far is childs play compared to the ramp up that will certainly place take after gun confiscation.
Remember that 40 million citizens were executed in Russia after the communist revolution from 1915 to 1940, many of whom were business owners and others who might be reluctant to embrace the new regime.
Putting 40 million in perspective goes like this: To execute 40 million people over a 25 year span requires 183 executions every hour or 3 per minute, 7/24s for 25 years-3 shifts-no holidays or vacations for the executioners.
NEVER let go of your guns-even if it means your death. I’d rather go that way than to live as one of their downtrodden slaves.

  • J C

I’m with Jeff in respecting your opinion but disagreeing.
If not for the NRA the CCKBA anbd the Second Amendment group would never have been here in time to have any effect. That and I do believe it is the NRA who are the most powerful challengers to the City of Chicago re: the Second Amendment rights challenge due shortly to be in court there.

  • DaveH

I belong to Gunowners of America, which I think is the most efficient pro-gun group out there.
Although NRA appears to be doing the right thing now, in the past (20 to 30 years ago) they focused on Second Amendment rights to have guns for sporting purposes. That did our gun-rights immeasurable damage, as only a small portion of gun-owners are hunters. I have never been able to forgive them for that misdirection. The Second Amendment was about defense against any encroachers on our Liberty, including an out-of-control Government.

  • J C

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”
    End of story!

Lew, Here’s an observation on the absurdity that is British Gun Law that I recieved as an email. Some good thought went into it:

    Real Gun Control

You’re sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door, inside
    your house.

Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. Then
a giggle. You listen hard and realize that at least two people have broken
into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach
down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door, when it opens.
In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks
like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it at you as if to strike, you
    raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the
second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.

As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you’re in trouble.

Because, in your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few
that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them
    useless.

And yours was never registered. Police arrive and inform you that one
burglar has died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal
    Possession of a Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will
probably plea the case down to manslaughter.

“What kind of sentence will I get?” you ask.

“Only ten-to-twelve years,” he replies, as if that’s nothing. “Behave
yourself, and you’ll be out in seven.”

The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper.
Somehow, you’re portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you
shot are represented as choirboys. Buried deep down in the article,
authorities acknowledge that both “victims” have been arrested numerous
    times.

Yet the next day’s headline says it all: “Lovable Rogue Son Didn’t Deserve
    to Die.”

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type
    pranksters who you victimized.

As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up,
then the international media. The surviving wounded burglar has become a
    folk hero.

Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and predicts he’ll
    probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several
times in the past and that you’ve been critical of local police for their
lack of effort in apprehending the suspects.

But they also report that after the last break-in, you told your neighbor
that you would be prepared next time.

The Prosecutor uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the
    burglars.

A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven’t been reduced,as
your lawyer had so confidently predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against
you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn’t
take long for the jury to convict you of all charges. The judge sentences
    you to life in prison.

Unfair, outrageous, this could not happen, you say,…..but

    THIS CASE REALLY HAPPENED.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one
    burglar and wounded a second.

In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.

Yet, all of Martin’s neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several
elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no
fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen
most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.

How did it become a crime to defend one’s own life and property in the once
    great British Empire ?

It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law
forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun
sales were to be made only to those who had a license.

The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but
    all firearms except shotguns.

Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by
private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the
Hungerford, Mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man
with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he
saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead. The British public, already
de-sensitized by eighty years of “gun control”, demanded even tougher
restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective
even though Ryan used a rifle.)

Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a
semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public
school. For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally
unstable or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to
beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media
gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all
handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the
few sidearms still owned by private citizens.

During the years in which the British government incrementally took away
most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed
self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant
gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was
no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or
robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.

Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,
“We cannot have people take the law into their own hands.”

When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given
three months to turn them over to local authorities.Being good British
subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn’t were visited by
police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn’t
comply.Police later bragged that they’d taken nearly 200,000 handguns from
private citizens. How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had
    been registered and licensed.

Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

WAKE UP AMERICA: THIS IS WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT
    IN OUR CONSTITUTION.

“..It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless
minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds..”

    Samuel Adams

If you think this is important, You had better wake up, because your new
President is going to do this very same thing if he can get it done. And
there are stupid people in congress and on the street and next door to you
that will go right along with him.

    ……………………………………………………………….
    To git it right:
There were no “reply” buttons left so I could not respond to your post above. You have made some incorrect assumptions. Not all conservatives are repubs. just like not all liberals or socialists are democrats. You try and fit people into nice neat little boxes because you don’t know the difference.
Secondly, your defense of liberals and bashing of conservatives is poorly done. You cite only one or two examples of bad repubs. when there are hundreds of examples of libs, repubs. & dems. that you never bother to post. I will only address the most glaring examples as your post is so lengthy and most of it is all over the board and uncalculable.

Liberal laws have allowed MILLIONS of abortions, YET YOU CAN ONLY NAME ONE REPUB. THAT HAS GOTTEN AN ABORTION!
Failing marriages: you only list THREE!
All the earmarks: you only list ONE!
All the unwed mothers: you only list ONE!
All the social programs ever passed: You only list ONE!
All the bad trade agreements: you only list ONE!.. and sorry to say you attribute it to the WRONG prez. IT WAS CLINTON! NOT REAGAN AND BUSH! DO YOUR HOMEWORK SONNY.
All the illegal immigrants: You say Reagan granted 3 million amnesty. It’s estimated there are 15 to 18 million illegals in this country now so I guess that means that Obama is going to be responsible for 15 to 18 million being given amnesty. If so then that is not such a good argument for you to pose for the liberal socialists, dems. or whatever pigeon hole you have decided to put then/us in today.
The remainder of your facts and fiction is in such disarray that it is impossible to decipher.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND DEFEND MY POLITICAL PARTY OR VIEWS/YOUR PARTY OR VIEWS IN THE FUTURE, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE YOURS AND MINE, OR YOURS OR THEIRS ARE THE SAME OR NOT. Your blather is the worst example of someone trying to make a point that I have ever seen and you are heaping a great deal of woe on the democrats and the liberals while trying to blame the repubs.

  • Bob in N.Y.

Thanks Nancy. I was going to address “git it rights” post but it was so convoluted and inane that I didn’t know where to start, and I didn’t have the time.

    TO Git It Right:
Try to live up to the name you are posting under and GET IT RIGHT, and PLEASE DON’T TRY AND DEFEND ME OR MY PARTY EITHER!! You are doing MORE HARM THAN GOOD!!

  • git it right

Nancy, trying to show how stupid it is to blame the liberals for everything that is wrong with this country. It is inane on purpose. I didn’t want to list all those who have committed adultery or abortions, would take forever. Just pointed out the obvious, that the Republicans and Conservatives have contributed to the problems this country has. To lay blame of all the bad laws, and policies, at the feet of the Democratic party is to admit, that when we had power we didn’t attempt to correct any of those situations. You can’t critize someone for the exact same thing that you did. We have passed bad laws and policies so let’s not be hypocrites. Why can’t we take our good ideas and try to help fix the mess?

  • d3fault

No sense arguing with idiots Nancy. You just can’t fix stupid.

  • d3fault

And I’ll ignore your comments from now on so I get to keep my life. :=)

My Dear “Got It Wrong”: Lemme see. Laws against murder, assault, mayhem et cetera, ad nauseam, are not enough. We need even more laws for the law breakers to break, so we can cry for ever further restrictions on the law abiding. “A man’s got to know his limitations.” Glad to see you know either your instabilities, or are afraid of those of the ones of those around you. You are wise (and free) to make that decision. For Your Self! Not, my dear proto-Commissar, for the rest of “We the People”. Better yet, try this: “The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.” Thomas Jefferson And: At almost 80 years old, Thomas Jefferson foresaw the corruption of a federal government with too much power, when he wrote to William T. Barry in 1822, just a few years before his death: “If ever this vast country is brought under a single government, it will be one of the most extensive corruption(s), indifferent and incapable of a wholesome care over so wide a spread of surface.”

    Good post JC.
It’s ironic that those same leaders will send soldiers off to war to kill people without any effort to prove their guilt.
Government doesn’t like people who protect themselves because it shines a bright light on the inability of Government Leaders to provide that protection. They are only concerned about themselves.

Hi Git it gone, In reply to your coment of why we don’t want you to use your ” good” ideas to help fix the mess we’re in, is because it is those same people with those “good” ideas that got us here. As far as big gov. fixing it, my vet fixed the cat and it will never work again either.

I doubt the ACLU will ever defend the second amendment, but I know obummer will. Obummer said in his campaign speeches that he had NO PLANS OF TAKING ANY OF OUR GUNS AWAY!
Oh wait, that was another lie he told. I guess he doesn’t understand that semi auto shotguns, rifles, and pistols are guns!!
Does the statement below sound like it could be something Obama will eventually say? If you add obamas favorite words to it–> (“in the best interest of the country”) I’m sure a LOT of people would fall for it. You decide.

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing….Adolph Hitler

Before the election, Obama said he supported the 2nd ammendment, but he believed that state and local gov.’s could make their own ordinances. I thought the Bill of Rights was for ALL Americans, not just the ones that their goverors and mayors let them. Another thing to look out for is registering of guns and gun owners. Hitler did that (under the reason of preventing crime, sound familiar?) When he decided to become dictator the Gestopo had everybodies adress who had the means to oppose him.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced the Obama Administration would be working hand in glove with the UN to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty.”
Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN Small Arms Treaty is nothing more than a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.
Ultimately, the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens like YOU.

And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.–President Barack Obama in San Francisco at a 2008 fundraiser.

Yep that’s right Mr obama, I cling to my guns because of you, just like I did under Clintons administration, and will continue under any other socialist prez who tries to subvert the Constitution and the 2nd amendment!

HR 45, (also known as Blair-Holt Firearm Licensing and Record Sale Act of 2009) introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush, would make it illegal to own a gun unless you are fingerprinted and can provide a driver’s license and Social Security number.

Additionally under HR 45, a person buying a gun would have to undergo both a physical and mental evaluation before making a firearm purchase. It also would require guns be secured from access by children under age 18, and would empower law enforcement officers to come into your home to check for compliance.

Isn’t that just ducky. Illegal to own a gun unless the government know exactly who I am and where I’m at, plus the fingerprint me like a criminal. I also suppose I would have to pay for the mental and physical evaluation…..

    FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS…………

  • Meteorlady

“Firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens are no threat to anyone,” Oh I disagree whole heartedly! They are a great threat to the government if they want to invade your home and take what is yours.

Study Switzerland – they serve in the Military and take their weapons with them when they have finished serving their term. They have a really low crime rate because everyone is armed and they know how to use their weapons.

  • J C

    DaveH,
We both know that “perpetual war” is a tool of tyranny, fascism and control.
They must keep the people frightened and believing that “they” are protecting us. They aren’t. They are however making a handsome profit from fear mongering and death.
As for gun control laws, they are as useless as breasts on a bull as regards public safety. Their only real “use” is in the ability of authorities to find and confiscate firearms. Which they would want to do for one reason and one reason only…to enslave and possibly murder us at will. History proves this.
It’s sad that there are people who actually do believe the notion that somehow gun control laws makes us any safer. These are people who put their faith in a utopian society governed by benevolent rulers. They do not take reality into account because it horrifies them.
When and only when we are once again a nation of armed citizens ready to defend ourselves, our families, our homes and our nation will we be a truly free people.
Until such time everyone advocating the disarming of Americans is “the Enemy”.

  • J C

    Hey Dylan,
I try and keep my posts civil even when I’m good and mad.

There is always a better way to say something than by becoming vulgar.
Besides, I’d like to think that we who advocate the Constitution and Personal Liberty have the moral high ground, so why lower myself to that level of vulgarity.

    Bob Livingston, Chip Wood;
Here is a notice I just received from CCRKBA
I thought it might be worth you starting a new thread for this one so that more people will see it and discuss it. We need to be more careful what we say here and other places online. At least “conservatives”, and 2nd amendment supporters who post here should be aware of the “MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS” that Obama and Napolitano need to put us on their “TERRORIST LIST”. I’m sure I have said things here that would qualify me for their “LIST” and I know a lot of others have….. Thanks, Stephaan
    …………………………………………………………………………………
    STOP Obama-Napolitano Gun Harassment -
    Activate All Gun Owners NOW!
Alert: ABC News is reporting that Obama’s Department of Homeland Security is monitoring the comments and posts of conservative Americans and gun owners on web sites and within social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Obama You Can Keep the “Change” I Support the Second Amendment.

This raises very serious concerns. This is America NOT Iran!

The Department of Homeland Security, led by leftist anti-gun rights Secretary Janet Napolitano, has a history of trying to suppress gun owners and conservative opponents of the President.

This latest news with the admission that the Obama Administration is monitoring the comments of Americans should raise concerns about big brother and the security and privacy of individual Americans.

We need to be absolutely sure that the political views of Americans – especially gun owners and those with conservative views critical of the President – are not being monitored for political suppression.

We need to stop this travesty now. We need confidence that gun owners and conservative Americans are not being monitored because of their opinions.

Political suppression MUST Be Stopped -

Last year you may remember the uproar over an official DHS report that Napolitano requested.

It was a formal Federal Government paid report titled: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

In this report, Obama’s Department of Homeland Security said among other things: Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements … and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to gun control or illegal immigration.

First Obama’s federal department sought to tie the word and emotion of “hate” to those who favor state’s rights – in essence the form of democracy created by our founding fathers. Secondly, it sought to label as dangerous those who oppose gun control or who favor a crackdown on illegal immigration.

    But there is more…

Obama and Napolitano’s official report also said: “Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election (Obama’s election as President) as a recruitment tool. Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship … and restrictions on firearms ownership and use. Rightwing extremists are increasingly galvanized by these concerns and leverage them as drivers for recruitment.”

So, if you believe in the Second Amendment to the constitution or if you disagree with Obama’s policies – you too can be dangerous according to Janet Napolitano and Obama’s Department of Homeland Security.

The Obama administration thinks that gun owners and conservatives are more dangerous than terrorists, Napolitano’s Department is admitting they are monitoring websites and social media feeds for “increased security.”

In light of her past actions it makes one wonder what they are monitoring.

Political suppression MUST Be Stopped -

When Napolitano’s report came to light last year it was also revealed that it included passages saying the American government should be afraid of returning troops coming back from war.

In effect her report said we should be afraid of veterans. It said, “rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat.”

Americans should be afraid of our brave men and women returning from combat who could turn on us. That is what Napolitano’s report said.

CNN reported that s a result the American Legion’s national commander, David K. Rehbein, said in a letter to Napolitano that, “I think it is important for all of us to remember that Americans are not the enemy. The terrorists are.”

Her response was to say “I know that some veterans groups were offended by the fact that veterans were mentioned in this assessment, so I apologize for that offense. It was certainly not intended.”

However, this apology did not include an apology to the millions of gun owners and conservative American’s who did not vote for Obama, who do not support his policies and who are not radical but average, concerned Americans – the same Americans who have attended gun shows, Tea Party protests, events like our Gun Rights Policy Conference or who have supported the NRA.

Now we find out that she and her Department are monitoring website posts and other online social media networks.

Do you remember last summer when the White House attempted to track emails?

The Dallas Morning News had reported the Obama White House government official website called for supporters to track “disinformation” from opponents.

Another report from the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper noted the White House told their supporters “If you get an email …that seems fishy, send it.” They then provided a special email address just to track opponents.

The Obama White House has a history of trying to track and suppress political dissent.

The Obama administration has a history of using official government resources to track opponents.

They paid for reports critical of veterans, gun owners and those with conservative political views. They created a program to track messages and email addresses of those opposed to government run health care. Now the administration – the same Department led by Napolitano that issued the anti-conservatives report is admitting to monitoring website posts and social networks.

It is important to ensure this data is not used for political attempts to track opponents.

I think it is important for freedom loving Americans to have a comfort level that the White House will not use official government information to track the views of conservatives and gun owners.

ML…If we check the history books we’ll find that Adolph Hitler had exactly the same policy for the German people in the 30′s. First registration then confiscation. If you were allowed to keep a gun it was because your loyalty to Der Fuehrer was beyond reproach.
The stars are aligning exactly the same way in America today. Thing is we’re supposed to be smarter because we “know” the history of gun control.
It isn’t about guns, it isn’t about safety…it’s about control.
And if guns are killing people, why aren’t guns sent to jail?
If guns are killing people, spoons must be why Oprah is so fat…
    lol :)
Keep fighting the good fight ML.

Yep, and the Swissarms 550 Carbine that they are issued is a very impressive piece of “morality to go”. ;)

If any of you live in or near Oakland, Ca, you might want to attend this council meeting, and speak against, or protest against the council passing this ordinance. If you have family or friends that live there, who are 2nd amendment supporters, then please tell them about this meeting so they can attend.
This is from the CCRKBA News letter.
Oakland, California is proposing more anti-gun ordinances. They will vote on their new anti-gun effort this coming Tuesday, February 16, It is imperative that we mount a full-scale opposition to their effort.

PLEASE ATTEND THE FEBRUARY 16, 2010 OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL

    MEETING TO VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION!

    When: Tuesday, February 16, at 06:00 p.m.

    Where: Third Floor
    Oakland City Hall
    1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza,
    Oakland, CA 94612

Wear business clothing. Coats and ties are encouraged.

The Ordinances: These new laws would (1) implement the draconian
AB 962 ammunition sales restrictions immediately. (2) add ALL
ammunition, including rifle and shotgun ammunition, to the
restrictions; (3) require that all ammunition sellers obtain an
FFL, (4) require that all lost or stolen firearms be reported
within 48 hours; and (5) require the Chief of Police to send a
letter to all handgun purchasers outlining their “obligations” as
    owners of nasty guns.
Background: The “Legal Community Against Violence” (LCAV), a San Francisco-based violently anti-gun group of lawyers, came up with another pre-packaged anti-gun legislative program. They shopped it to around 190 Bay Area municipalities.

Oakland’s city government is not prone to being reasonable.

The BIG Danger: LCAV started their targeted anti-gun onslaught
in the late 1990s when they helped create the so-called East Bay
Public Safety Corridor Partnership. With LCAV’s help, the
“Partnership” was instrumental in passing anti-gun laws in most
of Alameda and Contra Costa County towns.

If these laws pass in Oakland, THEY WILL MIGRATE TO YOUR TOWN!
An Oakland victory will embolden LCAV to push their agenda all
over the greater Bay Area and up to the state level!

Here is a good example of just how the A.C.L.U. DOES NOT REPRESENT THE BEST INTEREST OF AMERICA WITH THEIR FRIVOLOUS LAWSUITS!!

Sate Trooper Prevails Against ACLU and Illegal Aliens in Bogus Lawsuit
On February 4, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit dismissed a lawsuit that had been filed by the ACLU against a Rhode Island state trooper who contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) upon discovering that a group of foreign nationals he encountered were illegal aliens. In dismissing the suit, the First Circuit held that the ACLU – who had sued the state trooper and the state of Rhode Island on behalf of the illegal aliens – could not prevail on the multiple causes of action they filed against the trooper because he had acted “reasonably” throughout the entire encounter. February 4, 2010).

The lawsuit stemmed from a July 11, 2006 traffic stop, in which a Rhode Island state trooper pulled over a 15-passenger van for failure to signal when changing lanes. The driver produced a valid license, registration, and insurance, and stated that he was taking the other 14 passengers in the van to work. The trooper asked the passengers for identification. One of the passengers produced a gym membership card, one offered a non-driver ID card, and two others presented cards issued by the Guatemalan consulate. Though the trooper had difficulty communicating with the individuals because they spoke very little English, he was eventually able to determine that none of the passengers had legitimate identification documents. The aliens ultimately admitted that they were present in the United States illegally. The trooper then conducted a standard background check on the driver and contacted ICE. Three minutes later, ICE called back and asked Chabot to escort the van to ICE’s Providence, Rhode Island field office so that they could address the matter further. Upon arriving at the field office, all 14 passengers were arrested for immigration violations.

Guns to be reported on your 2010 Tax Return!!

This is true. See the Snopes link below:

    1. Subject: Guns listed on your next tax return. Now ALL GUNS must be listed on your next (2010) tax return!

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2010 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun. This bill was introduced on Feb 24, 2009, by the Obama staff. BUT this bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective! This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has passed this without the Senate voting on it at all. Trust Obama? you must be kidding! The full text of the IRS amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, U.S. Senate (www.senate.gov) You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099. You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 – U.S. OpenCongress (http://www.HYPERLINK)

Obama’s Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if they don’t fully comply. It has begun. Whatever Obama’s secret Master Plan is….this is just the ‘tip of the iceberg!’ Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. Even gun shop owners didn’t know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a ‘minor’ IRS revision, and, as usual, the ‘political’ lawmakers did not read this bill before signing and approving it! To find out about this go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm – any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless: It is registered, You are fingerprinted, You supply a current Driver’s License, you supply your Social Security #, you will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing, Each update – change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 – Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If you think this is a joke – go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pass this along.

This is just a “termite” approach to complete confiscation of guns and
disarming of our society to the point we have no defense, chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not..

Please.. copy and send this out to EVERYONE in the USA , whether you
support the Right to Bear Arms or are for gun control. We all should have the right to choose.

“you supply your Social Security #”

If you have a Social Security Number, which is your Socialist Party Membership Number, you are a socialist and therefore a “Liberal” (who wants to be liberal to yourself with money swindled from other people.
“See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them and gives it to the other persons to whom it doesn’t belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.” – Frederic Bastiat, deputy to the French Parliament, in The Law http://www.constitution.org/law/bastiat.htm

How many of you are not planning to collect “your” Social Security handout as soon as you qualify: old age, survivors’ or disability benefits? When you do, you are stealing from the next generation, that in turn is planning to do the same thing to their following generation.
Social Security is just a huge “Wealth Transfer System” that takes from some and promises to give to another. Read attorney Lawrence Becraft’s article on Social Security: http://home.hiwaay.net/~becraft/ssn.html
A righteous man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children. (Proverb 13:22a)
What of a man who pawns his children for his own security in old age or disability?
People used to sell their children as slaves when things were so bad that the whole family was going to starve to death. Their children (hopefully) would be fed (probably) and clothed (maybe) by their owners, and the parents had a little money so they could eat for a little while longer.
Now Americans (and socialists everywhere) give their children over to finance the parents’ retirements.
