Polls Shaken By Sandy

Polls Shaken By Sandy

If you rely on the polls mainstream media continually publish as a reliable source of information about who may be leading in the Presidential election, beware: The already skewed and confusing results are going to be increasingly unreliable in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

According to The Hill, Gallup has suspended daily national polling due to the storm, and many voters in the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Virginia and New Hampshire may be out of pollsters’ reach just days before the election.

“As a pollster right now I couldn’t poll from Virginia up to New Hampshire; it would be a total blackout,” Brad Coker, managing director at Mason-Dixon Polling and Research told the publication. “All of New England is off the board, so you’re going into this last weekend basically not knowing.”

While the latest numbers before the polling blackout indicated a largely tied race with Mitt Romney pulling slightly ahead, it looks like Americans are going to have to wait until after the election to find out if a surprise landslide for either candidate is in store.

Some conservative pundits have speculated that, sensing a Romney lead, the left is going to use Hurricane Sandy to delegitimize a Republican victory should the candidate win.

If electronic voting machines are inoperable and its too late for paper ballots then there could be a delay in the count. Election Day should not be cancelled for that process affects all 50 states. Not all cities and counties back east will have the same problems and we can be patient if there has to be a delay where there are serious problems.

Wake up America! Three strikes and we are out!
The first warning from God was the earthquake that damaged the Statue of Liberty and the Washington Monument.
The second was what we just witnessed, Hurricane Sandy.
We need a God fearing man for President that will turn this country around to have a chance at appeasing Him.
God help us if we ignore His warnings!
    Surely, this should help Romney.

    • Jess

Yes, god is angry at us for allowing gays to marry and reproduce. Its only going to get worse as we continue to allow these unspeakable acts.

  • Ted Crawford

As far as signs and dire warnings, I can see some much more tangible signs! Ones that can’t be rejected as simply natural occurrences!
When a nations deficit, that with ebbs and flows over 232 years of its history reaches $10.6 Trillion, can be increased by 60% in only 3.5 years, THAT’S a sign!
When a Nation after 234 years of economic success can, for the first time in it’s History, experience a Credit Rating Downgrade after only 2 years of an Administration, THAT’S a sign
When an Administration, for the first time in History, creates a $1 Trillion + deficit in it’s very first year, and then to prove that it wasn’t just a fluke, does so in it’s next three years consecutively, THAT’S a sign
When an Administration, again for the first time in History, fails to produce even 1 budget, throughtout it’s entire 4 year term, THAT’S a sign!

Why is it that no one remembers what Bush did right before he left office. He gave away billions of dollars for bailouts right before he left office and that increased the deficit. He left office with this country in a real mess. And now Obama gets blamed for the Repulibcan mess. No Presidnet following the mess that Bush left could have cleaned it up in 3 1/2 yrs. Shame on you fo so having such a short memory. Romney in office is a disaster for the middle class. However, we do know that all of this buddies will benefit from him in office. I sure hope you are wealthy, otherwise you are in trouble. And if you know any women, prepare them to lose their rights too.

      • momo

News flash Ruby, Obama sucks just as much as Romney! The only losers in this election are the American people.

      • Jess

Bush did nothing wrong. He kept us safe for 8 years. Made sure saddam didn’t use his weapons of mass destruction on us and chaced the Taliban out of Afghanistan. If only we had another President like Bush America would be on top. Instead we have to deal with massive debt, and Obummer giving all of our hard earned money to those who don’t deserve it. How much will be spent in NY and NJ? Those people should have prepared better and been ready for the storm. There’s no reason the government should have to pay for it. I had nothing to do with this storm so why are my tax dollars being used to fix it?
I can’t wait to vote Romey next week.

  • JTB

and so obama here’s your sign! Get out!

    • Ruby

I believe your sign is “ignorance”

      • Rob (StGeorge) Manwiller

YOU”RE calling somebody else ignorant? Look in the mirror, [comment has been edited]

Well, for all who hope for a Romney/Ryan,in the Whitehorse, what I really wish,is that we could separate the election.By that,I mean that I wish the folks who want Romney(or think they do,until about 2Months after he would get in),I wish all who want him,and all who support our President, that we could all have a half&half country, where those who want Pres.Obama could live in one half of this country, and the ones wanting Romney would live in the other half! Now, of course, the well off folks would get by, with Romney. But,the ones under Romney who have no money to speak of,I would like to see just how long it would take before the less well off, would ask to move back to the half run by Pres.Obama! Not long,I expect. Especially if you or any of your loved ones find yourselves in a situation such as Hurricane Sandy has brought so horribly to millions of Americans.Because, if R/R gets in,EVERYTHING will change, but sure NOT in ways people who would vote for Romney,THINK it will change! Good Luck to each person,in each state, when your life is destroyed, and, instead of help from the Federal Govt.and a President who gives a damn about you like PresObama does, good ole Mitt will send you some canned goods and tell your state:”YOU handle it,and Good Luck!”And,as more hospitals start turning away folks with no insurance,”good luck to THOSE 50 Million or so folks too!”Shoud not take R/R long to bring down all but the rich to their knees!Dear God,people are foolish with their lives!

Here’s the flaw in your 50/50 proposal: The poor, “less well off” you speak of would choose to go with Obama, day one – he already gives them welfare, food stamps, free phones and free healthcare! Some of the “less well off” may choose Romney – those would be responsible individualists who are willing to work toward building a better life for themselves and would see his policies as providing the opportunity to do so! Your proposal begs the question: Who is going to pay for what Obama would be giving the “huddled masses”? And another question: How and from where would Obama conscript doctors to provide the “less well off” with healthcare? Even harder questions could be raised, but your post was too flawed to delve into further. But you are right, Dear God – people are foolish! You just proved it!

Sandy points out two important things, Ma Nature is not your friend, it is a huge mistake to take her for granted. Second, what you just witnessed was not man made, it was not global warming, it was a major weather cycle. The oceans on both coast are at odds temp wise, the Pacific has dropped in temperature and the Atlantic gained, the airstream has shifted somewhat and weather fronts collided, this was a hundred year cycle. All you environmental whackos that want to do the deep pockets thing and blame man, get over it, instead form a lynching party for the likes of the algores that are scamming you by playing with your delusional minds, help solve the political agenda not perpetuate it….

  • Ms. M

Surely, FEMA put into place some contingency to provide alternate voting venues should the established sites be compromised by the hurricane? Surely FEMA is that competent? Paper ballots are not necessary; you know, we are living in the modern age of technology and have these new gadgets called “generators” that can power electronic voting machines (apologies for the sarcasm)! The hurricane is over, the water will recede and with each passing day life will return to “normal”. Been there – done that. If Ike had hit the Texas gulf coast a week before the presidential election, we would have walked or paddled our way to the polls! With a week to go, there is absolutely no reason that people cannot get themselves to the polls and no excuse for blaming the weather – are you telling me people up north haven’t voted during rain, ice and snow storms in the past?

    • Karolyn

Are you kidding me? Many of these people have lost their homes, cars and all possessions. Many will still have no transportation by next Tuesday. Do you not grasp the scope of this horror?

  • Ms. M

Oh! and BTW – the estimates on the damage caused by H. Sandy are stated at around $20B – go look up what IKE caused in Texas alone…..and that mammoth, slow-moving storm roared all the way up into the breadbasket! Governor Perry kicked FEMA out and Texans handled the situation just fine on our own!

    • Karolyn

I just heard someone on the radio estimate $80 billion.

    • Karolyn

NJ is one of the most densely packed states in the nation. There is no way they can hadle this without Federal help.

    • Jess

Check out the part where it reads “Governor Perry further requested 100
      percent Federal funding.”

Cool Huh? My money going to you people in Texas. You shouldn’t live that close to the water.

      Texas Hurricane Ike – FEMA-1791-DR
      Declared September 13, 2008
On September 12, 2008, Governor Rick Perry requested a major disaster declaration due to
Hurricane Ike beginning on September 7, 2008, and continuing. The Governor requested a
declaration for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance, including direct Federal assistance,
for 99 counties and Hazard Mitigation for all counties. Governor Perry further requested 100
percent Federal funding. This event was of the severity and magnitude that the need for
supplemental Federal assistance was determined to be necessary prior to the completion of joint
Federal, State, and local Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs). Per 44 C.F.R.§ 206.33(d)
and § 206.36(d), the requirement for a joint PDA may be waived for those incidents of such
unusual severity and magnitude that formal field damage assessments are not required to
establish the need for supplemental Federal assistance under the Stafford Act.

Paper ballots may be outdated, however they are easy to use with just a pen & flashlight. But that is to simple for the bureaucrats to grasp.
