Poll: Paul Strong In Iowa

Public Policy Polling recently reported poll numbers for the Iowa Republican Presidential race that show Ron Paul making gains in the contest.

Over the past week, a 9- point lead that was enjoyed by Newt Gingrich has slipped to just 1 point in the State, leaving him neck and neck with Paul at 22 percent to 21 percent. The other candidates are trailing behind the leaders with Mitt Romney at 16 percent, Michele Bachmann at 11 percent, Rick Perry at 9 percent, Rick Santorum at 8 percent, Jon Huntsman at 5 percent and Gary Johnson at 1 percent.

As Gingrich continues to drop in Iowa polls, the Paul campaign is gaining steam. Among the candidates, Paul is viewed most favorably by likely voters in Iowa with 61 percent saying they have a good opinion of the candidate. Gingrich was viewed favorably by 52 percent.

The polling indicates parallels between Paul’s strength in Iowa and Barack Obama’s in 2008. Paul continues to garner support from new voters, young voters and non-Republican voters.

The idea that the most important thing to likely primary voters is beating Obama in 2012 is challenged by the poll results, as 56 percent of those polled said that they are more concerned with picking a candidate whose positions they agree with than simply one who is able to defeat Obama.

A majority of the individuals polled (36 percent ) said that the biggest issue that would weigh on their vote was government spending and the reduction of debt, which is a major portion of the Paul platform.

Ron Paul has our two votes in this independant household general elections come, whether republican, independant or whatever he chooses to be.We pref him be out of any strong national political party and them to disappear from the sceene at all-we want to live under the CONSTITUTION of the USA,not under any party rules.

  • Joseph

I agree with Al and Fanny. Living by the constitution is very important and that it why it was created. I fully support Dr. Ron Paul because he understands this. I am personally tired of being lied to by every president that we elect in to office. I think the Dr. will finally be the exception please people do some digging and keep talking we can get him in.

Just a thought: If Ron Paul was elected President, would we finally find out if there is any truth to the whole UFO “conspiracy”? He is totally honest and would surely tell the truth about Roswell, NM in 1947. I don’t believe that UFO’s are “flying saucers” run by intelligent life from alien planets, but since the federal government denies it, I must keep an open mind. The government’s denial is the strongest evidence of it.

  • MVPappas

How many people voted in that TELEPROMPTER president to prove to everyone this misguided empathy that they weren’t a racist !? the only President who is always honest and never flip flops or lies is RON PAUL At the Capital our Government there is only a handful that have any dignity and honesty left in their bones. They all wallow in the same muck. We have to do something NOW !! I’m afraid if RON PAUL is not elected that will be the final nail in Americas’ coffin, and we are in a coffin right now. RON PAUL 2012. Watch out for the fraudulent votes.

  • Pj

Please make sure to register republican and vote for Paul. well I think we all know the rules. Iowa will be the driving force and the for the medias reaction, well they better choose to be nice to him! There’s a revolution coming and they wouldn’t want to be in the establishments side but by the peoples! RON PAUL 2012!

  • jopa

Pj;Do you have to be a Republican to vote for Paul? What about Democrats and Independents that want to vote for Paul. Most of the Republicans I know now call themselves Independents and are embarrassed with the title of Republican and refuse to be identified with it.

jopa, In some states you can declare at the polls. In some states, you have to declare your party in advance of the primary. I think in Pennsylvania, you must register as a Republican at least 90 days prior to the PA primary. Find out from your county board of elections for the requirements in your state.

      • Leslie Short

Oh, and jopa, I am one of those you identified. However, I will call myself a Republican for only one day in 2012; that being the day I go to vote in the Ohio primary. :)

  • Leslie Short

Amen to living under the CONSTITUTION and Amen to RON PAUL 2012. I’m sure that most of us, if not all, know that the election is not about the man called Ron Paul; but about the ideas and the principles that he holds dear. The same ideas and principles that this once great nation was founded upon; and a return to them will make America a great nation once again. It isn’t enough to recite the Constitution at the beginning of the 2013 session in Congress; it MUST be understood and followed by ALL in the Federal government. This Constitution must be understood by the states and ALL unconstitutional federal laws MUST be challenged by the “several” states. The TRUTH of the matter is that most of our public servants and the state level are too CHICKEN to challenge the federal government, or “cave in” to the federal government. We also need to elect those into our state houses who will STAND UP and do what is RIGHT.

I wonder how many people realize just how historic a Ron Paul victory would be? He would rank up there with Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson! And for the same reasons, giving freedom to the American People. Please help return our nation, be a patriot and vote Ron Paul in 2012.

In my Ron Paul seems to be the Republicans only hope and way ahead in credibility compared to your other contenders by far. I really dont understand your political system, but you have to work out a better system to getting competent candidates for this very important position of President of the United States of America. It diminishes the importance of the role when you have so many totally incompetent contenders who forget their policies or lack basic general knowlege. Maybe you should employ executive head hunters to screen your candidate prior to letting them out into the race. Maybe some of them need to do some extra study and do a verbal and written examination and be examined for physcological stamina for this very demanding position.

I will continue to be devils advocate in this debate about his policies which whilst basically correct and sound financial management of any private business or State government budget process but I disagree that the Feds can elliminate government departments and drastically cut into federal programs without it causing massive flow-on unemployment whin whichever States these government departments have most of their staff residing and you can bet Ron Paul just like Obama would not have the numbers or the stamina to do what he is preaching the music to our ears. I’m still tipping OBAMA is going to win again, although Ron Paul’s message will be heard loud and clear as the campaign gathers pace to ensure some extra education of the masses. Budgeting education will now be the main role of Ron Paul for not only the Democrate voters who he is hoping to swing over but also Republican voters and supporters who speak with fork tounges. I mean you have amoungst your many financial supporters whose businesses would go bankrupt if Ron Paul were to have the real power to cut $Trillions off the budget and freeze credit expansion from which these supporters have been able to amass their fortunes. Don’t be fooled that you dont have “corrupted supporters in the woodpile”

Not only are those departments, that Paul wants to get rid of, taking dollars away from productive private investment, but they also are working to inhibit the productive private sector with their ridiculous cumbersome rules which generally are good for nothing but aiding the Crony Capitalists against their non-politically-connected competitors. So it’s a double whammy against the economy. We are paying them to slow down our economy. Ridiculous. We can only stand to gain as a people if Paul gets elected and accomplishes the abolition of those mentioned Federal Agencies:

Who wins if Paul doesn’t get elected? The Leaders and their Crony Capitalists of course.
Who loses if Paul doesn’t get elected? The rest of us.

    i meant…In my opinion

  • hoser

Yeah but the dork from FOX News, Chris Wallace, says that if Dr Ron Paul wins Iowa it doesn’t really count. I’ve lost all respect for main stream media to include the “Fair and Balanced” FOX news channel. I only watch CNN occasionally because Robin Meade is Smoking Hot.
