Poll: Americans Want To Deny Federal Funding To ‘Sanctuary’ Cities

May 10, 2011 by

Rasmussen Reports released the results of a new poll on Tuesday, showing that a majority of Americans favor denying Federal funds to so-called “sanctuary” cities — cities that protect illegal aliens from the government.

The statement from Rasmussen said that, in a national telephone poll, “59 percent of likely U.S. voters favor a cutoff of federal funds to so-called sanctuary cities. Just 28 percent are opposed and 13 percent are not sure.”

The poll was taken in response to the unveiling of the “Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Act” in the House on May 4. Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Penn.), who presented the bill, says that it would slash funding for more than 100 cities.

“Local officials who choose not to enforce immigration laws are aiding illegal immigrants,” Barletta, quoted by POLITICO.com, said. “My bill makes sure that sanctuary cities no longer get Federal money as long as Federal officials ignore Federal law.”

The poll’s respondents are not, however, hopeful that Congress would actually follow through with such a measure. The statement said “only 29 percent of voters think Congress is even somewhat likely to agree to cut off funds to cities that provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants. Twice as many, 55 percent say Congress is unlikely to take such an action.”

Sanctuary cities should not get federal funding for ANYTHING! I believe that sanctuary cities should lose ALL federal funding until they stop harboring illegals plus 5 years. If after that five years they again become a sanctuary city they again lose funding, this time for 10 years. Each time they go back to being a sanctuary city the time increases that they do not receive federal funding.

Our immigration laws need to be enforced very aggressively!

you can get here in a legal way. If you can;t you don’t stay out of the United States we don’t want you here. to break our laws. I also believe we should run them all out of our country and give no money to states that hire them and hide them in our States and the people that help them get jobs and housing should go to jail for breaking our laws in our country. At lease for 10 years so they are forced to stop helping people break our laws.

I’m not in favor of FEDERAL FUNDING going to any cities or states. They should remain within the confines and limitations of their budgets that their citizens will allow. As for Sanctuary Cities, arrest and imprison the Mayors and/or Governors of the cities, states, municipalities or counties that blatantly violate the law; and likewise, arrest and imprison any private business owners, CEO’s or directors of nongovernmental organizations who knowingly provide employment or harbor individuals that are here illegally. If “We The People” violate a law, this useless government will show us no mercy, it will imprison and fine us beyond comprehension after it drags us through a lengthy legal battle they know you or I can’t afford in our defense. What is good for the gander should be good for the goose.
Round up and deport every person, whether that be man, women or child that resides here illegally and send them back to their respective countries of origin, and once there they can spend the rest of there lives “DREAMING” about what it might have been like if they would have entered this country legally and became AMERICAN CITIZENS properly.
That’s my version of HARRY REID’s “DREAM ACT”!

Chicago is a sactuary city.(no suprise) Home of the Obama campaigne headquarters. Home of the Chicago Dem machine and Chicago cemetary vote. Every thing rotten there is politicly. It would be the best laugh I had all 21rst century if Chicago was defunded.
That twentyeight percent opposed should be checked for a green card as soon as they step out of the sanctuary. The 13% undecided need a good swift kick in the backside.(Get their brains jump started)

Here’s the quote from the commie Libtard at ACLU!(ACLU managing attorney Cecillia Wang said the law is potentially worse than the Arizona law because anyone stopped by police could be required to prove their citizenship status. Making it optional for lesser offenses makes racial profiling even more likely.) Really?? Okay Libtard you need to go to your homeland China! or other countries, Yep go break China’s Immigration Law by refusing to show your papers or live there Illegally,Cecillia Wang don’t expect your fellow Libtards to get you out from China or other countries prison system! To Libtards mind it’s okay for other countries to have toughest Immigration Laws! But it’s no okay for US & it’s states to have tougher Immigration Laws??
