Phoenix Mayor: Immigration Bill Is ‘Unconstitutional’ And ‘Unenforceable’

April 29, 2010 by

Phoenix mayor: Immigration bill is 'unconstitutional' and 'unenforceable'Just a few days after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law a historically aggressive immigration bill, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon indicated that the city may soon file a lawsuit challenging the legislation on constitutional grounds.

Gordon told Fox News the bill is not only unconstitutional, but also makes the state less safe, as police would be forced to spend an exorbitant amount of time focusing on this "unenforceable" law.

"It tramples civil rights," Gordon told the news source. "Now everyone has to show and prove that they’re a legal resident or citizen." He also warned that the new law may create "a division within the state that could lead to violence."

The Phoenix mayor also attacked the author of the bill, state Senator Russell Pearce, by comparing him to late Alabama Governor George Wallace, a well-known segregationist leader in the 1960s, KTAR.com reports. He said that Pearce is more concerned with making headlines than battling the real problems that face Arizona, such as violent crime and the drug trade.

Gordon indicated that he will ask the Phoenix City Council later this week to join him in his fight against the law.

THe left is spinning so fast on this their going to make themselves dizzy and will fall down on their boomka’s!

    • s c

Warrior, Phoenix was a nice place to live until the Arizona version of Washingtonian career crminals moved in with their social justice and liberation theology insanity. Phoenix might just as well pick a name out of a phone book (a better way to ‘select’ many politicians). Let the bastards yell. America is sick and tired of politicians and their continually re-defined concepts of justice and false amnesty.
This crap is all about EASY VOTES FOR CRIMINALS disguised as politicians. Did Napolitano hand-pick that twit mayor?
Phoenix, get rid of that airhead. He should be cleaning toilets or putting up tents for Sheriff Arpaio (and being paid minimum wage).

      • http://?? Joe H.

        S C,
The Mayor says this bill is unconstitutional??? Well I say HE is unconstitutional!!! He is not upholding the laws of the state and city as he more than likely swore to uphold!!! and before the bleeding hearts start about this being an immoral law, the same law was passed by the federal government and it wasn’t challenged by the corts so it seems to pass muster to me!!! You rock, Arizona!!!

  • Robin from Arcadia, IN

They had to pass a law to enforce a law that was already in place. If the law that was already in place had been enforced to begin with, there probably wouldn’t have been a need to pass another law. I think this is a wonderful start to dealing with the illegal immigration problem. Only those who are here illegally need to worry.

    • JC

Robin, don’t you think we should all be worried about the ramifications of National ID?
I say un handcuff the policing agencies and let them enforce the existing laws rigorously.
      And screw national ID.

    • Mary

Robin there is a little problem. THEY ARE ONLY 20 MILLIONS. WE NEED A GREAT WALL IN THE BORDER WITH MEXICO NOT A FENCE. THESE POLITICIANS FROM HELL LEAD US TO THIS MESS. ALL THE STATES IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE TO REINFORCE THE LAW LIKE ARIZONA TO PROTECT US. IN MEXICO THEY PUT YOU IN JAIL FOR YEARS IF YOU GO THERE WITHOUT PAPERS AND ONLY IF YOU’RE LUCKY TO SURVIVE THE GANGS AND THIEVES ATTACKS. PHOENIX IS THE KIDNAPING CAPITAL OF THE USA. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS HOMELAND SECURITY. I REMEMBER NOW, THEY ARE AFTER THE TEA PARTY PEOPLE. BECAUSE THEY ARE SOOOO DANGEROUS.

  • Harry M Farah

Mayor Gordon is absolutely correct in his attack on the most hateful legislation ever passed by a State. Russell Pearce should be run out of office for contributing to the destruction of America’s Image as the Champion of Human Rights. If this immigration law ia allowed to exist, it will the catalyst to destroy the “United” States of America and it’s image as the Land of Opportunity and Hope.

    • obiwan

America’s Image was killed by the Bush admin. The liabilities of the ILLEGAL immigration problem far out weigh the assets. The US is already broke. The most deseving of opportunity and hope are those already LEGALLY living here. The rest can follow the law and wait their turn. There’s a damn good reason for immigration quotas.

      • Jeep

That’s right! It’s Bush’s fault! Why, if Bush could have destroyed the economy quicker, then all these illegals would have left (since there would be no reason to stay) So, gosh darn Bush for not wrecking the economy faster!

        • George E

ha, ha, ha. I hope everyone understands you are kidding.

          • Jeep

            Yeah, me too George!

          • Ron O.

Hey George, I think we do. The fact that good ole Jimmy Carter started the push for lowering lending standards for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae was the beginning of it all and when Clinton got in there, he pushed it even harder for eight more years and the whole lending world was on the downhill double black run by the time good ole George W. got in there. He did little to nothing to stop it even though he was warned what was to come. George W. inherited it from the Dems. and we had a Democratic congress since 07″. Need I say more? Anyhow, we can point fingers all day long and get no where. The thing we need to fully understand is that our constitutional rights apply to the citizens of this country and ONLY to the citizens of this country. If you come here illegally, you have committed a crime which is unlawful entry into a foreign country. THAT’S WHAT THE MEXICANS ARE DOING WHEN THEY CROSS OUR BORDERS WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION! Get that straight. They are entitled to nothing, PERIOD. They are criminals….not poor rejected, starving, innocent, want a better life people. They paid a coyote up to $5,000.00 dollars U.S. to get here or to the border crossings. They were not starving nor were they depressed. They had learned that they could get away with murder and take advantage of our system to get rich quick and that’s just what millions of them have done right up until the bottom of our economy dropped out which they helped to happen. Wake up you stupid bleeding heart morons and see what has happened to our country because of a government that will not do it’s job. This is why states have acted on their own. AND, this immigration law is not unconstitutional. It is a necessary measure to insure the security of our borders. You take off your shoes at the airport when you go through security, don’t you? That’s supposedly for our security too and if that’s not unconstitutional, neither is this immigration law.

        • meteorlady

Illegals cost this country more in one year than both wars.

          • Hugh Jordin

They came uninvited and should not be surprised when they are expelled from the party for scoffing up undeserved goodies.

      • meteorlady

Yes and a lot of the “legal” immigrants still work under the table for cash, pay no taxes, get social services, have their own bankers and live in subsidized housing. So what ever happened to the part of the immigration law that says you must be self-sufficient to come here or your “sponsor” must take care of you until you can make your own way?

The fact is that millions of Americans are out of work, our social welfare system is burdened beyond what it can support, our schools are filled to capacity, and our health care system is over-run with non-paying people. These illegals are not holding low or menial jobs, they are in construction, landscaping, irrigation and industry. These are all jobs that Americans would certainly take if they were available.

      • JC

Oh here we go…Blame Bush again….BORRRRIIIING!
He’s gone if you didn’t know.

    • George E

Now, now Harry. Let’s not exaggerate. This law simply codifies the federal immigration laws which are already in place, and standardizes Arizona law enforcement agencies across the state on how they should deal with enforcement of these federal laws. (Up to now, each agency had to decide on their own whether to devote resources to enforce federal immigration laws. Some chose not to.) It does not attempt to strengthen the federal laws, or instruct Arizona law enforcement agencies to process illegal immigrants outside federal agencies. No doubt this law will encourage more and better training of local law enforcement officers on how to lawfully detain people so that they don’t violate racial discrimination/profiling laws. So, in the end, I would argue that this law will probably help to reduce those kinds of problems rather than increase them as you are obviously concerned.

Democrats are playing politics with this law. They obviously don’t want to lose the initiative on reforming our immigration laws to the states. My guess is they see this as another grass roots political movement (like the TEA Party) which if not stopped quickly may cause them to lose control of the immigration issue. After all, the feds want to tell us how our immigration laws should be constructed and managed. The last thing they want is for the people (states) to tell them. Think about it……

      • JeffH

George E, so very well informed you are. It’s a shame that the president and the “goody feely” people can’t tell us the truth. They’ve taken the racist and violent attacks to another level, promoting the “fear” factor over this completely legal law that only supports the enforcement of the nations immigration laws.

        • George E

Thanks Jeff. We just can’t let the Dems jamp through an amnesty bill like they want. We’ve got to support programs like this Arizona law so other states will join in and the feds finally understand we want border security and law enforcement not amnesty.

          • Ron O.

Right you are George. In fact, here in Colorado, our own Scott McKennis wants to bring such a law to Colorado. He is running to replace Bill “DO NOTHING FOR OUR GOOD” Ritter. I am looking at giving my support to his efforts for the Governor’s mansion.

      • Bob

I am glad someone else has read the 16 page law. I will lay odds that there isn’t one person in Washington DC that has even read the document, especially the ones that are throwing the race card at Arizona. Other states need to read this document and mirror it in their states, especially our border states, north and south. If you have ever lived in any other country which I have, you need a passport to go from one country to another. Canada has just started this requirement for the US when we enter their country. So what it the difference if its the other way around?

        • JC

Just to clarify, Canada started it’s requirement after the US already started asking Canadians for their passports. Up till the US made it a requirement a driver’s license was all that was needed.

    • Dee McClain

The Bush Administration rattled the cages of those socialist, communist, leftist, terrorist who did not see us as “Liberators” of Iraq, NOT the colonist or captors of the people of Iraq.Do you think, the Soviet Union, China, Argentina, Isreal cares what the rest of the world thinks of them? People from all over the world are still comeing in droves to make this there home. Next to Israel, who the Obama administration is letting hang out to dry, Iraq is the only other Democracy is that region. If Mexican’s (or any others) want to be a part of the AMERICAN CULTURE let them arrive here as my grandparents did, legally and through the front door. After they get here, let them ASSIMILATE and SPEAK ENGLISH. I am SICK of pressing 1, SICK of seeing bilingual signs, and SICK of other Americans saying we are racially profiling. If Mexicans are crossing the border to come here who should we be looking for…the Amish. They are the only ones so far that have remained unscathed …maybe because they don’t have TVs.

      • Ray

You need to step AWAY from the faux news and realize that nothing you can do is going to stop the influx of people from across the border.

You should welcome these immigrating people, and try to be friendly.

Being angry at Liberals and Mexicans isn’t going to help you.

Being an “illegal immigrant” is already illegal.
        Republicans= silly.

        • meteorlady

Yep – I should welcome more people that want to live off the money I earn. Yep – I should love the fact that they over burden our hospital emergency rooms with non-emergency free care. Yep – I should love the fact that each immigrating family costs every tax payer in this country. Yep – I should welcome the fact that we have drug wars and drive by shootings on our borders. Yep- I would welcome the drug dealers, criminal, welfare scamming people that come here. Yep – I should love the people that have the arrogance to step to the head of the immigration line and spit int he face of every person who has waited to get here legally. Yep – I just love people like you who do not have a clue what’s going on but believe that the rest of us should be more than thankful and happy that we need to pay for these criminals.

        • JeffH

Did you get a warm tingly feeling down your leg when you posted your comment?

        • Ron O.

Ray, you are so funny. You should welcome all those people. By the way, they are not immigrants, they are criminals. If you knew anything about our laws you would know that it is a criminal offense to cross the borders into this country without authority, permission and proper documentation. What do you not understand about that law. We have all kinds of illegal tresspassing going on. Why don’t you put a big sign up in front of YOUR house welcoming all illegal people from whatever country they come from and YOU feed them, house them, clothe them and provide them with medical care and support them with your undying love.

        • Airangel

Hey Ray, one Rancher in Texas did welcome and try and help an illegal lying on the ground face down…the rancher was shot for it, turning back to his ATV to call for help. By the time someone found him he was dead…why, the month before he had turned in some bags of drugs to the authorities on his property…he was shot for “losing” the drug cartels “stuff”…but our Media doesn’t print that because the American people would get even angrier if the deaths of OUR citizens were given as much empathy as these criminal “illegals”…other ranchers were also beaten (a wife and her husband) and told to keep their mouths shut…all true…Schools, Hospitals, businesses…this is a NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE Not immigration and I don’t care if they have to I.D. every Arizona citizen to get it under control and safe again.

        • JC

Let’s give them Ray’s address. He can welcome them to all he has.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            JC,
            Ray could be illegal himself!!!!

        • Warrior

In your honor Ray, I just put a sign on my front lawn welcoming all Phroggers. What the heck, when I’m at work there’s nobody watching my TV or eating my food. You should also try this or better yet, why don’t you go to AZ and adopt a couple of these hopefully future Dems.

    • Flynn

Mayor Gordon says the law is unenforceble only because he don’t want to enforce it. The new law is based on the Federal immigration law, which is only unenforceable because the Feds do not want to enforce it. It is time that Phil Gordon was kicked out of office alone with Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelozi for dereliction of duty. Why should the taxpayer continue to pay the salaries and bloated pensions of elected officials who are derelict in their duties? Governor Brewer and the Arizona legislature has my support. I hope they will stand their ground and enforce this law, which is a step in the right direction to solved our illegal immigration problem.

      • marvin

in short AMEN OR FOR YOU THAT DON,T KNOW WHAT AMEN IS [SO BE IT]

      • SiliconDoc

That’s right: ” Why should the taxpayer continue to pay the salaries and bloated pensions of elected officials who are derelict in their duties? ”
        -
It burned me to the hilt that Obama was a senator and went galavanting around to steal the presidency illegally and with the demo machine elite’s help, while he kept his “job” and showed up like 19 days a year.
How the **** do these ******** get away with something like that?
How does it ever get that bad, where flagrantly and openly, they don’t do their job, don’t show up, don’t vote, galavant around and do whatever else, collect the whole paycheck anyway and no one gives a ****, and then, the potus position is given anyway…
THAT ALONE shows how stinking and corrupt it all is now.
I’m sorry, this nation is totally GONERS.
ANYTHING goes, don’t even show up for your job, blow it off for years way below the bare minimum, then take the highest office in the land.
        WE ARE DONE.

    • marvin

      • Jesse

Obviously some illegal bumped Marvin from English class.

    • zack

Harry M Farah, sounds to me like you might be one of those illegal immigrants.

Way to go Governor Jan Brewer, maybe other states will follow suit and get rid of these illegal immigrants.

By the way someone needs to check Harry M Farah’s GREEN card, and his family’s to, don’t you think? HeHeHe

    • marvin

HARRY M arizona citizens have spoke and said no more enuf is enuf mabe if you lived there and had a half million illegals you may see things differantly but i don,t thing so you think you have the right to tell, the good people of arizona how and what to do and what is right or wrong ,with your way of thinking the citizens of arizona do not have or need a say in how their state is being run i guess it would be ok to just do away with the state legislator and let the do nothing federal goverment tell you what you can and can not do and to that i say bull sh-t less power to the federal goverment and more power to the people not less it is call V O T I N G for what you belive in

    • coolpop

Are you too dumb to realize that the illegals are sucking the life out of this country ! Try going into Mexico without permission ! They are tough on illegal Americans , but we should allow them to come and commit countless crimes in this country ? Deport all the illegals AND the fools that are helping them. Including YOU,traitor !

    • Airangel

Arizona is so on track to enforce an existing Federal Law that the current administration turns a blind eye on for the votes!

      Please Read to the End

      JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE ILLEGAL
You have two families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”.
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.

      Ready? Now pay attention…

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
      $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
      $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
      has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches while Jose Illegal’s children get
a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

      Do you get it, now?

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens…
You are part of the problem!
It’s way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!
What are you waiting for? Pass it on.

      • Michelle

THANK YOU! Someone finally gets it. We contacted our Phoenix Council Rep and from recent reports they Council members are not in favor of legal action against the law. Just wait until election time! Another democrat and non-American bites the dust.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Michelle,
I just wish he would stop using my name as an example!!! I already get upset about how short a distance my money goes!!! It goes far enough but I would like it to go a little farther!!!

      • JC

        • Airangel

JC…by George, I think you’ve got it! Pretty pathetic huh?

        • George E

That kind of sums it up……..ha.

        • Ricky

jc you have it right. but you left out hondrus thay will shot you. that is why they wont go south .thay have a limet so many a year and thay keep up with them .a few mounths ago thay had 7 of them piled up where thay crossed their border . that is what the U>S>A> needs to do I CAN NOT SEE WHERE THAY CAN PROTEST IF THAY ARE NOT EVEN FROM THE U.S.A. THIS GOVERMENT NEEDS THE BIG CHANGE … CHANGE ALL THAT ARE IN THE WHITE HOUSE .FOR ONES LIKE JAN BREWER .AT LEAST SHE IS TRYING TO STOP THE ILLEGALS FROM CROSSING ,AND KILLERS COMEING OVER HERE .I THINK ALL STATES SOULD DO THIS .IF THAY DONT REMBER NAMES IN NOVEMBER IF THAY WERE NOT FOR<<<>>> that is right it is a law in the U,S,A, AND IT IS IN THE BOOKS ….. ask your govner ..

        • JC

          Ricky,
I’m not advocating we kill them. I am suggesting though that we take away the benefits (bird feeder) for starters. These unfortunate people need to go home and clean up their own back yard. On that same note, we Americans will once again have to clean up our own back yard…starting with Congress and then moving on to the White House.

      • Jesse

I don’t get it. How do you claim welfare and food stamps and free medical treatments without any ID that says you’re a citizen? When these illegals show-up for any of these services INS should be called. The only service that should be available to illegals is a bus trip to a holding facility about ten miles from the border… then they should all be chained together and marched back to the border.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Jesse,
These CRIMINALS get counterfit licences, social security cards, and all kinds of ID that the government offices don’t check out!!! We need some adult supervision for these government employees. Think we can get the boyscouts????

    • Bass

Harry M. THE CONSTITUTION IS FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY, NOT FOR
PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES UNLESS THEY ARE HERE LEGALLY. This means
they have to sign in before they cross over the boarder, and sign out when they leave. they also have to report where they will be, and why are they here.

      • SiliconDoc

No, sorry, now, with the former muslim child foreigner communist totalitarian potus teleprompter puppet, illegal foreign terrorists have full rights.
YES, IT’S TRUE. THAT’S WHERE WE ARE.

    • meteorlady

What the heck – you must like the fact that Arizona and the rest of the US is going broke trying to deal with illegals. There’s criminals, drug wars, fraud in social services, hospital emergency rooms are over run with free health care for illegals, schools are over populated and forced to educate in English and spanish to the detriment of American children and these people are costing the United States more than both wars combined. So what are you thinking?

There are no “constitutional” rights for illegals in this country same as there are no rights for convicted felons. They have “constitution” rights in their own country and should do the right thing and go back, stand in line like every one else seeking to immigrate to this country.

This certainly is not racial profiling and the police are not actively enforcing immigration laws. The US immigration laws state that if a person is stopped for criminal activity or traffic violations they must show ID and if they are not legal the local law enforcement agency is to contact ICE to pick the subject up. They are merely checking for legal status once a person is pulled over or arrested for a crime. That is the same as with every legal citizen of this country. The racial profiling is just a liberal spin to make us feel sorry for illegals.

You might want to do some research and check on what these illegal and immigration in general cost US taxpayers by going to the following website: http://www.cis.org/illegal. Also while there check out what the 1986 amnesty costs us and is still costing us as taxpayers.

The fact is that illegal is still illegal no matter what spin you put on it. Our borders are so open that terrorists could carry bombs across and our government does nothing to stop this. The 1980′s amnesty just opened the gates for more bad behavior because these people get rewarded for breaking our laws.

      • kate8

meteorlady, have you heard that the dems are planning to resore rights to convicted felons also? They are stopping at nothing to stack the voting deck in their favor.

    • marvin

harry m farah you are a frigen idiot the arizona law is just like the fed immigration law that has been the law in this country for allmost a hundred years undocumented is the same as illegal and the law for you, if you are to blind or stuped to look it up saz arrest, detain, fine, deport, now thay are small words for uneducated morrons like you so take your ass kissing liberal unamerican illegal loving self back to what ever country you cam from we the american people do not need you here if you do not know the law and think it is ok to break it and as for the marcher we will find out how it works for you when you are deportaed if i.c.e won,t do there job arizona can and will

    • Jim G.

During the 1930′s many States REQUIRED that a part of a City Charter would be that it was required to have a clause that made it a crime for a politician or public official to NOT enforce federal and State laws. I wonder if Phoenix does’t have the same. I know Minneapolis does. I believe most cities even include such a clause in the oath of office for Mayor, City Council people, as well as law enforcement officials. Now we have some idiot politicians saying it is unconstitutional to enforce the “Federal Law”. And unconstitutional to have State Laws that require the enforcement of “Federal Law”.

People need to begin to be serious about the borders and immigration. We simply cannot afford not to. The figure of ten million illegal aliens is also a joke. Having traveled to many, mant U.S. cities this year I can tell you that EVERY city and town in the United States is over run with illegal aliens. From New York to California, from Minneapolis and small towns in North Dakota and Nebraska to the gulf coast. And the fault goes to Republicans as well as Democrats. One wants more votes, and the other wants “cheap labor” that will undercut U.S. workers.

Every State should pass a law that they require ALL state licensed police officers to enforce ALL laws including immigration law. Now we have a Secretary of State telling people that the U.S. Government and a President I voted for will sue a State for having the same law and enforcing the Federal law. This Democrat will probably change his vote in the next two elections.

  • Scott CAMP

I am so tired of leftist ranting and destruction of our county. We have a right as citizens of the United States to control our border and deport those who are not in our country legally. Wake up and stop pitching the one world government belief. I for one support Arizona 100%!!

    • zack

Scott CAMP, way to go, I don’t live in Arizona either, but when I get home from Afghanistan maybe they will send us there to help weed the illegals out.

MAYOR GORDAN SET DOWN AND SHUT UP. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES!

      • Bass

Zack, Thank you for what you are doing for us over there. Obama want!

      • JC

Zack, bring everyone with you. America needs it’s best and bravest oathkeepers here at home.

      • George E

Thanks Zack for what you’re doing for our country. Come home soon, and stay safe. God bless.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Zack,
Kick some azz, come home soon and stay safe, Dude!!!

      • Ted Crawford

Jack, THANK YOU for your service! One thing, DON’T take any prisoners! This administration will only give them legal status to vote progressive! Reward them with their 72 virgins!!

        • JC

Ted, wouldn’t it a surprise to them if it was actually 72 “Virginians”? ;)

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Ted,
I like the one that shows their 72 virgins as 72 nuns holding shotguns!!!! now that’s most excellent as bill & ted would say!!!

          • zack

You Guys are the greatest, and we thank you all. We all have a bad feeling about things here, but we will do what we came to do. God Bless All Of You, And God Bless America!

          • http://?? Joe H.

            Zack,
God Bless you ALL as well!!! you all are a very important asset to this country as patriots will always be our front line of defense.

  • Hoodlum

Jan Brewer is a modern day Joan of Arc. Defending what is RIGHT against the cupcake leftist who would see this country destroyed.
We hope you think about running for Prez at some point Jan!

    • Scott

Hoodlum, She would get my vote, and I live in Missouri. She knew full well what would happen, and she signed the law anyway, for the good and safety of the American CITIZENS of Arizona. You should be very proud of her.

    • Dee McClain

Right On! Let’s have more border states adopt this program and get our country’s ILLIGAL immigration problem SOLVED. Every state should declare their sovereignty from the Federal Government so that we can regain our county from this Socialist Regime. It IS the United STATES of American.

      • JeffH

Dee McClain, AMEN to tat…right on girl…

      • George E

Apparently, Texas is getting on board as well. I’m a proud Texan….

  • Al Sieber

Hey Harry, like Robin said, we had to pass a law to enforce one. I live in Ariz. something had to be done. what do you think is the solution?

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Al Sieber,
Here’s a few FACTS to back up what you said to these bleeding hearts out there.
      1) Half of the illegal border crossings are along Arizona/Mexico border.
2)Phoenix is number one in kidnappings in US and number two in the WORLD!
3)Drug violence in northern Mexico and spilling over the border.
4)ver the last several years, A record number of stash houses for illegals and drugs have been uncovered in Arizona!!!
Now if these aren’t reason enough for those out there then you must be brain dead!!!

  • http://personalliberty rob

OK….if this new bill is unconstitutional, then all you have to do is QUIT giving out FREE assistance to NON citizens/undocumented individuals. We are asking WHY the states are being bled with budget problems? It is beyond me how they are receiving these benefits in the first place. FREE healthcare, Free education, Food stamps, and the list goes on. As a US citizen/taxpayer, I find this disgusting. Race/Nationality(DON’T pull the RACECARD) isn’t the issue, it’s “LEGAL” vs “ILLEGAL”. If there is a silver lining regarding this issue, the AMERICAN citizens are waking up. Hopefully, our elected officials will begin to represent “WE the PEOPLE”.

    • denniso

Legal vs illegal??? So show me an American citizen who doesn’t break the law repeatedly…should we ship out or lock up citizens who cheat on their taxes, speed on the highways, run red lights, commit minor insurance fraud? All of those things cost the whole society and put people at risk and even kill others. This is not about legal vs illegal, it’s about politics, for some trying to gain an advantage by whipping up a frenzy…it’s also about race and the many white people terrified that they are being infringed upon by darker skinned people.

The issue distracts from the real facts of crime in our country, which is almost entirely citizens victimizing citizens, and the real financial rip offs by the reckless and fraudulent behaviour of our financial system…screaming about any $$ that immigrants cost us also ignores the trillion $ that the Bush wars are costing us and the thousands of young soldiers killed. It’s also hypocrisy at it’s worst.

      • JeffH

…the real issue here is illegal aliens and enforcment of immigration laws, nothing else! Very simple to uderstand.

        • George E

          Correct. Let’s stay on topic.

      • http://personalliberty rob

Deniso, I donot disagree with you on the polical stance you take on this issue. What I do take issue with is the BACKDOOR/ILLEGAL entrance to the US and the use/misuse of benefits meant for the LEGAL citizens of the US. Again, we donot address how and why ILLEGALS have or are given these benefits in the first place. How are they entitled. You mentioned a concern regarding dark skinned people, this is not the issue for me. We have ILLEGALS in this country of many races that have entered this country illegally. Money??? How can the taxpayers/States sustain providing for the care of BACKDOOR illegals. Isn’t there a FRONTDOOR immigration process for individuals to enter this country?

        • denniso

Of course there is a ‘front door’ path for immigration…there’s also a program for migrant workers to come and go, mostly for the ag workers.
I don’t want to be over run by immigrants or by too many native born Americans either…we already have way too many people in this country and should be using tax policy to also discourage people from having so many children. Citizens benefit monetarily by having 5,6 or 10 kids and it’s ridiculous to think that we can just keep expanding
our population forever, and not ruin our land and society.

          • JC

The birth rates of the American population are already well in decline. Meanwhile the birth rates of Islam and third world nations are growing. How long do you think it will be before “America” is gone anyway denniso?
Time to shore up the barricades.

      • marvin

DENNISO YOU MAKE ABOUT AS MUCH sence as a two day old what in the hell has running stop light got to do with being illegal running a light or stop sign is a crime by fine or jail time, being illegal is a crime by the same token, arrest detain [fine]and deport that is the federal law that is on the books

        • denniso

Sorry if the logic is beyond your ability to grasp it.

          • JeffH

…what is obvious is that all resonable logic has never ever entered your mind!

          • http://?? Joe H.

            dennislo,
You never had a logical thought in your miserable life!!!

          • denniso

            Actually, I’ve got a pretty good life…sorry.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            denniso,
well it isn’t due to logic!!!!

      • kate8

denniso. “Show me an American citizen who doesn’t constantly break the law”? Are you speaking for yourself? Because I don’t do that, nor does anyone I know. It is libs who don’t honor the rule of law, don’t respect the rights and property of others, and who feel that if they get away with breaking a law, then no foul.

I think it’s also fair to say that a good deal of time the penalty for a citizen caught breaking a law is more severe than when an illegal is caught. In any case, the fact that citizens break laws in no way justifies the behavior of foreign nationals.

        • JeffH

kate8, I wonder if it might be some kind of a “sexual fetish” that stimulates these people off of the main road of common sense?

          • kate8

denniso is just another fine example of what’s destroying this country. The “heck, everybody’s doing it” mentality. No real sense of right and wrong, no conscience.

          • Michael J.

            kate8,
You are correct, and it’s because most Obama Zombies like Denniso are atheist who are lacking a moral compass.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            JeffH,
I can honestly say in 38 years I haven’t had as much as a warning ticket. the last car I got rid of had a little over ten thousand miles on it and had over 150,000 miles on it!!! I’m proud of that record. I guess dennislo just doesn’t get the implications of a good record. lower insurance, better relation with local police, all kinds of things!!!

          • JeffH

I’m not the least bit concerned. When I got nailed for my DUI in 1980, I deserved it. Now I’m the self appointed designated driver for my friends. Not to worry if you aren’t doing anything wrong.

        • JC

Liberals always take the automatic approach that everyone is bad and they need to be controlled. That’s what’s wrong with Liberals…for starters.

          • kate8

JC, they can only go by what they know.

          • JC

True. They must look in the mirror, see how immoral they are and assume everyone else is the same. Maybe those FEMA camps will be used for them eventually.

        • denniso

Sorry kids, I try to explain things in simple enough terms for you and you still can’t comprehend…it’s either an innate problem w/ you or you’re just blinded by your reactionary politics like a mad cow when someone threatens her calf…blind anger dims the thought process.

          • kate8

You can’t take it back now, denniso. You’ve shown yourself and it’s stuck.

          • JeffH

kate8, I know denisso’s thought process that her/his ignorance is bliss because if you don’t know something, it can’t hurt you.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          kate8,
I have this hobby. I see how many “small” laws I can break each day. I send chain letters. I jay walk. I set off thermo-nuclear weapons in densly populated cities. You know, only the “little” laws!!!!

      • Ron O.

Once again denniso, your head is hidden in one of your bodies dark cavities. No, I am very conscious of the laws. I DO NOT run stop sign nor do RUN stop lights. I don’t cheat on my taxes and I don’t even drive if I’ve had a single beer. That is considered simply being responsible…..something that obviously you are not. The issue is, to get back on topic, about Mexicans invading our country. Illegally crossing the borders to: A. seek employment, have their babies, take advantage of our medical facilities, sell their drugs, commit crimes for personal gain and do any number of things that they would be encarcerated indefinitely for in their own country. Yet, here, they are given whatever they want by our government and everything they are being given, they have no right to receive because THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY. THEY ARE CRIMINALS! How about this denniso, I move into your house. You come home from whatever it is you do during the day and find me there sitting in your recliner, drinking one of your beers that I took out of your refrigerator. I now inform you that I and my family will be living in your home indefinitely and I have some issues that I want you to take care of. First of all, I want you to provide me with a job and also a job for my wife. I want you to pay for all of our doctor bills and take care of any medical needs that might come up. You will provide us with all the comforts you enjoy to include seeing to it that we get a driver’s license and obtain a loan for whatever vehicle we want to buy and drive. You are to start learning our language immediately so we can speak to you and we want free education for our children and free meals in the schools. Now, denniso, if you can live with this, I probably can round up about 15 million illegals to come see you.

      • Ted Crawford

denniso is,at best, a student of saul alinsky,cloward-piven tactics! At worst, a progressive, payed, plant! In either case not worth reading!!!!

        • denniso

It’s amazing to me that you rightwingers read people I have never heard of and then say that I’m following the tactics of those people.
Cloward who? I hadn’t heard of Alinsky until you people informed me of his existence and I find out he’s was a pretty interesting and good guy. Maybe you should quit reading and alluding to people who the liberals/progressives mostly don’t even know about?

        • http://?? Joe H.

          Ted,
There is one other possibility that is just as bad. He could be just plain stupid and still gets to VOTE!!!! Well I DID tell you it was just as bad!!!

  • Cheryl

I agree with Scott Camp. The illegal aliens are costing us taxpayers, those of us who get up and go to work each and every day, millions of dollars. Not only are their children receiving discounted meals at school, they are teaching them ESL. Why not teach our children SSL (spanish as a second language.) They continue to ride on our coat tails, free medical while our insurance premiums continue to rise to cover their ‘free’ hospital stays. I support anyone who chooses to come to this country, as long as they do so the way my family did from Germany and Poland. The right/legal way, no free rides. Most of the illegals who work, work for cash, they do not pay ss, medicare, taxes, instead they get WIC to buy groceries and so many benefits of which you and I are picking up the tab.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Cheryl
Just to show you how little this government listens to people, now after they voted four times NO! the government is trying again to make Puerto Rico a state!!! how many times do those people have to tell our government no before they listen???

  • Scott

Harry M Farah Quote; “it will the catalyst to destroy the “United” States of America and it’s image as the Land of Opportunity and Hope”
Not much hope for the Rancher Murdered there in Arizona is there? How many more?
The only times the liberals find something “Unconstitutional” Or “Constitutional” is when it meets with their agenda. If it the Constitutional rule doesn’t meet with their agenda, “it’s outdated”, “we live in a different time” ETC.
That doesn’t seem to be the case here, does it?

  • Rick Bowen

Can you imagine the gall of the governer. Creating a law that makes illegal people illegal !

    • J.D.

Rick Bowen, quit using common sense or you’ll never make a good liberal-HA,HA,HA!

  • http://NA 1776+234

Apparently making a law to enforce the law is unconstitutional – Mayor Gordon is a “TWIT” instead of suing his own state who is tring to enforce the law our federal govt. will not, he should be suing the feds for not complying with enforcement which is dereliction of their duty. Get of the soap box lefists there is nothing hateful or racist about this law it is only to enforce laws on the books – read the law for a change instead of whining about something you do not take the time to understand.

    • kate8

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be looking to the courts to do the right thing. They will do the bidding of the PTB. The Constitution and the will of the people are no longer of any consequence in America.

The law is what the masters say it is.

  • J.D.

Amen Rob! I’m also tired of the “race card”. I speak Spanish and have quite a few Hispanic friends. And, besides, our Constitution doesn’t cover every person in the world, just those who are U.S. citizens. So, to call this unconstitutional is just plain stupid. As far as people saying it infringes on their right to privacy, if this bothers you, I hope you didn’t fill out the census form for 2010. It was a hell of a lot more intrusive!

    • Time

JD, BINGO, you hit the nail on the head.

  • FREE

To bad no one has the intestinal fortitude to deport the usurper from Kenya.
Maybe if he does a tour of Arizona someone there will do what needs to be done.
Well I can hope for that change, can’t I?

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Fre,
how do you expect that when they won’t even deport his Aunt when they have twice denied her assylem request???

  • Bill G

If the bill is unconstitutional, why is/has there been the same bill in the Federal Laws?
It’s time to get another Mayor who knows what he’s doing…..

    • George E

I’m pretty sure this bill is NOT unconstitutional. The Dems are playing politics with this issue because they don’t want to see another “TEA Party” type movement get started where grass roots American people tell the government what to do. They want to control this debate to steer it towards amnesty for all illegal immigrants. This is one of their key strategies for increasing the number of Democrat voters, so they’ll scream bloody murder if necessary to stay in control of this issue.

  • http://gmail i41

The bill is a good shining light, it is 16 pages long, short and too the point, fact is the most illegals, are criminals, first, breaking our border laws, second, bringing in drugs, using our welfare programs and medical care as a free hog trough, to wallow in. Now with the healthcare bill and the combination of frills and bills passed by progressive dem, bleeding hearts, the citizens finally have had enough of depending on Washington’s promises and laws that don’t get enforsed. AZ. just had enough of the fed BS.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      i41,
It’s still too long. I mean, how many pages do you need to say: illegal? Detain. Deport!! But only if you have probable means of suspicion! Sounds clear enough to me and a normally educated non-lawyer can read it!!!

  • angel-wanna-be

These damn Democrats sure as heck stick together, don’t they?_And They talk about the Re pubs, unwillingness to work in a bi-partisanship fashion. My guess is they probably would if the Dems leave them have some say. Let the Mayor of Phoenix say what he wants, it’s the action that counts! The stand Jan Brewer took, in passing the law of illegal immigration into effect, should to be applauded. The States are finally getting it, in Health care, and now immigration, no more screwing around with politics, do whats best for the people and she did!__You go Jan Brewer!

    • George E

      Angel,

You’re right. The Dems have a well-oiled organizational machine that develops positions and makes sure everyone has them to repeat in conversation and debate. This wouldn’t be so bad if the main stream media didn’t simply repeat these talking points without challenge. Too many people simply assume if they hear something on one of the MSM outlets it must be true, but especially if they hear it on two or more of these outlets. If you are a student, and you hear one or more of your professors repeat these talking points as well, you just know this is absolutely a fact……ugh.

I’m convinced the Dems are over reacting to the Arizona bill because they see this as another possible TEA Party movement. They want to control this debate and steer it towards the conclusion that the only reasonable solution to illegal immigration is amnesty. They don’t want a grass-roots movement steering the debate towards border security, identification and deportation or illegals, etc. So, they are using one of their old PR tools to try to defeat this movement; exaggeration and discrediting the law and people behind it. You notice that at the heart of their claims is that this law is “racist.” They like to use that line a lot to intimidate people into doing what they want them to do, or not do. It’s been pretty effective for the past couple of decades. Hopefully, it won’t work this time.

      • JeffH

George E, so right and straight out of the Alinsky handbook…how else could the talking points and themes be so constantly similar across the board. As usual, the MSM is carrying the same rhetoric.

      • angel-wanna-be

GeorgeE, They are over reacting on this bill, this amnesty bill’s already in place, who are the dems trying to kid. This law wasn’t being enforced. I think this interaction, is nothing more than, another created mass hysteria, by Dems to AGAIN make it appear they are for the working man & the down trodden. I don’t want to jump the gun here, and while I am optimistic, the Dems are scared as hell. They know they’re gonna lose seats come November. They may lose big! They’re pulling out all the stops, including discussions on, making Puerto Rico our 51st state, while the Dems have the majority, In my opinion the only thing they’ll gain in doing this is a great big ATTA BOY!__Too many people are onto the Liberal tactics now!

        • angel-wanna-be

Sorry spelling error, I meant, Over reaction.

        • JeffH

angel-wanna-be, “Too many people are onto the Liberal tactics now”

When someone calls them (liberal hacks) out now, they slink back into their burrows to come back and lie another day.

          • angel-wanna-be

Jeff, At’s what I’m saying, they can slink all the way the hell outta Washington, as far as I’m concerned! We’ve had quite enough of there political antics. The whole lot of them, act as if, they’ve just been released from jail and don’t know what to do first! They’re just running amok!_Good grief, they try to make friends with our terrorist enemies and dismiss our allies.

      • angel-wanna-be

GeorgE, That’s the bad part the Lame Stream Media, the Democrats have hijacked them. I’m not sure what the incentives are, for the media to be kissing Washington’s a**. But they do. That’s why I watch fox, to get the other side of things. The media and the Obama Administration are highly offended with all the dissent against Washington politics. But the Liberal news media, thought nothing of it, when they hung a replica of George Bush on a hangman’s noose and paraded through the streets with it. Or a movie was produced depicting Bush’s assassination. If the Bambi Administration wants to whine about all the negative dissent, I’ve got cheese to go with that whine!

        • kate8

The incentives for the media toward left wing bias is that the same people who own and control the government also control the media. If they want to keep their jobs, or even their news programs, they have to tow the line.

They even own FoxNews. It just gives conservatives an outlet, while still controlling what we hear.

  • Jeep

Arguably Mayor Gordon shot himself in the foot with his own statements. He is quoted as saying, “Now everyone…” What was that? You mean a law that applies to all? How silly is that? Yeah take that statement to a real judge. “Uhh…your Honor, this law applies to all and is unconstitutional because it tramples the civil ‘rights’ of non-citizens…who don’t fall under the Constitution because they are not citizens, but…ummm…”

  • john

mayor gordan is a poor excuse to represent his city. and harry your all wet in the collar also. Gordan says it will make the state less safe and etc. In the forth paragraph gordn said pearce is more concerned with headlines then the real problems on violent crimes and drug trade. DUH DUH IS THIS THE LAW THAT THE GOVENOR PASSED SUPPOSED TO HELP THE SITUATION OR AM I STUPID OR MISSING SOMETHING. iF i WAS GOVENOR I WOULD DO THE SAME THING. THANK YOU

    • Jeep

I guess Gordon would take a different approach, maybe legalize heroin. And…voila…no more drug problem! Then, perhaps legalize theft. Voila…no more crime! The state would be safe again!

    • zack

HEY ARIZONA:: YOU ALL NEED TO VOTE MAYOR GORDON OUT OF OFFICE LIKE WE ARE GOING TO DO THE DEMOCRATS, AND THEIR PET SHEEP OBAMA, AND FOUL MOUTH BIDEN……

I am proud and willing to show my Birth Certificate that I carry, to prove to anyone that I am a rightful Citizen of the USA. So whats the big deal with these people in Arizona.. Legal or Illegal??? when did Illegal Citizens begin to have Civil rights? Human right to be treated humanely yes. Civil rights???

    • Peggy

That Phoenix mayor should be ashamed of him self. What the Govoner signed into law is the best law that has been done for a very long time. And since when did illeagal’s have civil rights???? other than to be treated humanly. Isn’t that OUR COUNTRYS RIGHTS???? They don’t belong here unless they come through the front door. And what about all the deseases they bring with them when they aren’t legal????? I hardly hear anything about that anymore…

  • Miichael

I am absolutely STUNNED at all the people who believe that the immigration law is Un-Constitutional…

    WHAT? How is it Un-Constitutional?

All the ranting by those who oppose it give NO evidence of it being Un-Constitutional…

Remember, the Constitution is there to guarantee the INALIENABLE RIGHTS of the Citizens, NOT those who are here illegally!

If the Fed’s had enough guts to actually put up the wall at the border and police who comes in, rather than trying to invade our (the Citizens) CONSTITUTIONAL, US SUPREME COURT DECISION PRECEDENT, RIGHT TO FREE TRAVEL then we would not even be talking about this!

Bottom line is, if the border was secured, we would not have the problem. The ILLEGALS are just that, ILLEGALLY HERE! ANYONE who argues that probably believes that it is ok to steal too, Oh ya, they are the ones who support welfare for the illegals too.. I forgot!

Get a Clue America… We need to secure and protect our borders first and the rest will allow for OUR FREEDOM to ring loud and clear!

    • denniso

you’re stunned?? I guess so, if you can’t understand the issue. Mandating that cops check the papers of people they suspect of being here illegally means that they will wind up asking for papers from legal citizens as well and especially those who may ‘look’ like illegals but are actually citizens, because, obviously the cops won’t know who is actually illegal…it will have to depend upon racial profiling and will be an invasion of privacy for anyone the cops ‘suspect’. The constitution has a provision in it called the ‘privacy clause’. It’s a right to unreasonable search and seizure. How is it reasonable to base a search of a person based upon skin color or other behaviour? It;s not.

You people are letting the fearmongering frenzy push you into stripping all of us of our rights…now, for instance, we can’t even leave the country w/o a passport because you’re terrified of a threat that pales in comparison to getting into your car every day. Now you’re willing to be stopped at the whim of a policeman on the street and if you don’t have your papers maybe go to jail until you can produce them. Of course, most white people aren’t overly worried because they think that it will only be darker skinned people subject to the law…maybe, though you give police this kind of wide and subjective power ans who knows….

      • JeffH

What part of “the Arizona Immigration Law” supports the Federal Immigration Laws won’t you understand? A cop cannot arbitrarily check anybodies ID’s or paperwork, legal or illegal. That’s the law!
A person must commit a crime or a violation before they can be checked. The left and the feds are commiting the “fearmomgering”, not the law. Roll over and cry and whine to somebody that will buy into your crap, or don’t go into Arizona.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself!

        • denniso

You’re lying again or you just haven’t read the provisions of the law.

          • JeffH

            Paranoia mind destroia

You’re so damn smart, why don’t you spell it out in plain english for all of us. I don’t want the concoted version with your leftist Che Guevara radical fearmongering. I just want the facts, nothing but the facts without any of your childish name calling or delusional interpretations.

Washington – As the Obama administration considers a potential legal challenge to Arizona’s tough new immigration law, a professor who helped draft the bill is defending the state measure as supportive of existing federal statutes.

Professor Kobach said the Arizona law is supportive of federal immigration laws rather than seeking to supplant them

“I think the critics who are claiming the bill will not withstand legal challenge need to read the bill,” said Kris Kobach, a law professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

“The bill will withstand any preemptive challenge,” he said, because it reinforces existing federal immigration laws and creates no new immigration crimes.

“The bill adheres to the doctrine of concurrent enforcement – the legal principle that preemption will not be found where a state law prohibits conduct that is already prohibited under federal law,” he said.

Reasonable suspicion’The most criticized aspect of the Arizona law is a mandate in Section II that state and local law enforcement officials must verify a person’s immigration status “where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States.”

Racial profiling? Kobach said the Arizona law itself bars officers from relying on illegal factors like race, color, or ethnicity in making reasonable suspicion determinations.

          • JeffH

Or maybe You’re the one that is lying again and you’re the one that just hasn’t read the provisions of the law.

          • JeffH
          • JeffH

It is just much easier for you to call someone a liar than to face the truth. denisso, you must really have a serious identity problem!

          • denniso

Wow, now that’s clever of you…quote the lawyer who helped write the law as justification of the law…genius.
Reasonable suspicion? what does that derive from? Appearance, skin color, manner of speech, clothing, type of car driven? How would a cop have ‘reasonable’ suspicion based upon anything other than profiling? Would a cop suspect a blond, blue eyed female model of being ‘illegal’?? No, it can’t be done w/o racial profiling unless absolutely EVERYONE is stopped on the street or in a car…that means you too.
I just heard that the cowardly AZ legislature has already backed off and changed the ‘law’. Now no one would be subject to search for papers unless stopped for another issue. The ‘law’ is already watered down and now almost meaningless…most ‘illegals’ don’t get into trouble w/ the cops so won’t be checked anyway.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            Dennislow,
yeah wright!!! that’s why one third of the prisoners in Arizona’s prisons are ILLEGALS!!!!! that’s because they don’t get into trouble!!! Please remove your head from your anal orifice!!

  • American Citizen

What is wrong with proving who you are? Have you tried getting a driver’s license lately? As to civil rights, illegals don’t have any, only legal citizens of this country do. The bleeding hearts had better pull their heads out of the sand or the dark cavity in their rear ends or this country is doomed. Between the Muslims who want to take over the world and the Mexicans who claim this country belongs to them, we have a real fight on our hands. Wake up America!

    • http://?? Joe H.

      American Citizen,
That is what they are mad about. They think you should be able to get a license without proving who you are!! I mean, if they don’t trust you well gee!!!

  • skywolf23

i know a few people that live in az might move there one day, but unless you live there and have to deal with illegals running thruough your yards and streets, deal with the violence and the very real dangers that being the kidnap capitol of the world or darn close brings with it.

many lwas require you to carry your drivers license, or wear a seatbelt, i loathe wearing a seatbelt i feel it should be my decision on if i want to wear it or not, are those vilations of my individual rights? i think they are but they have been held up in court.

so now mexican residents are obligated to show their papers if asked for them boohoo, like that is any different than having to have your driver license or photo id available if asked for it.

the dems just want the illegal votes from illegals, no check at the voting office, free health care, cheap labor for those that have to keep it under the radar being here, and i suppose given enough time the dems would be happy to give than all free welfare to send back to mexico.

if you here legally, god bless you, you might be asked to show your id and documents a bit more, but really how is this a bad thing unless you are here illegally and avoiding the laws.

    • American Liberal

Skywolf… Why didn’t the republicans address immigration during the 8 years they held the Whitehouse?… If you didn’t nothing… How can you complain now?..

      • George E

        Liberal,

GW did propose a “comprehensive” immigration bill, but it did not get enough support to pass. Dems wanted amnesty for illegals while the grass roots American public wanted border security first. Congress did finally pass a bill to build a fence on the border, but as you know that has stalled out now that the Dems have majorities in both houses of Congress and the administration.

        • denniso

And what did the Repubs in congress want? Nothing that would work. The wall/fence is already a multi billion $ joke. I has stopped animal migration routes very well, but it’s already been climbed and dug under and cut through…The East Germans learned that walls between countries don’t work…little kids read books about countries building walls that don’t work. We need a longterm solution that doesn’t strip our rights as citizens, and the Repubs won’t help in that…their answer is arrest anyone you don’t like the looks of and stick them in prison.

          • George E

            Denniso,

I have to admit that the Republicans don’t have a very good record on managing illegal immigration either. We agree on that. So, in my opinion, we really do need another grass roots effort by the American people to help find good solutions to this problem and force our politicans to legislate accordingly. I haven’t seen very much of value coming out of Washington on this topic, from either party. Have you?

          • JeffH

George E, now you have said a dirty word, “grassroot”! The liberals believe that grassroot movements are nothing but violent, gun toting, racist, ignorant redneck Republican Tea bagger movements. Those are also the toughts of the individual your comment was directed at.
Be careful, for you will be showered with vial namecalling for mentinong that word.

          • denniso

We need leaders from both parties to come together to solve a tough problem…but, the ‘illegal’ issue is being blown out of proportion compared to other problems. Most ‘illegals’ work hard, don’t commit crimes and have been coming across the border to work for decades. They are enhance our economy w/ their spending and working. People are being whipped into a frenzy by some who are looking for political gain and others who are indeed racists.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            hey dennislo,
Off topic, but I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the post to jeff that mentions you. Beijeng China had a guy that crashed a school gate with a motorcycle then attacked 5 school children with a hammer. He then doused himself with gasoline, grabbed two more kids and tried to set himself on fire. the children were snatched from him just in time as he flamed up and burned to death. the wounds the five children suffered were not life threatening, but very well could have been.
Just think if he had barred the door from the outside and doused the building as well as himself? All the kids could have died! Guess it doesn’t take a handgun does it???

          • denniso

You make my point for me and you don’t even know it…amazing. No kids died, right? If he had an automatic or semi automatic weapon they would all be dead. Are you really that blind that you can’t see the evidence right before you’re eyes?
There was another wacko in China today maybe who invaded a school and stabbed 10 or 20 little kids…horrible, but again none died. One crazy w/ a semi automatic can kill dizzens in minutes…that’s the difference. Look at the facts…

          • http://?? Joe H.

            dennislow,
hate to tell you, some of the kids shot at Columbine survived!!!! how terrible of them to prove you wrong!!!

  • American Liberal

Of course this racist law won’t stand… Arizonas Sheriffs associantion came out aginst it….Sheriff Clerence Dupnik said he won’t enforce… The American Nazis did come out in support of the law…..law enforce says they have their hands full already and the law isn’t funded…

    • George E

      Liberal,

What is racist about 1) enforcing federal laws, and 2) standarding all state law enforcement agencies on how they should enforce these laws?

      • meteorlady

Lib will never answer back with a valid argument to your rebuttal. The only thing Lib can do is call names and blame Bush. Lib is a non-event on this board.

    • George E

      Liberal,

Some of us are getting tired of being called “racists” and associated with groups like the American Nazi Party. Those are pretty serious charges, and shouldn’t be used wrecklessly. This does NOTHING to advance a serious intellectual discussion on this topic, but does seriously inflame the situation. PLEASE STOP IT!

      • JeffH

George E, you should be aware by now that AL isn’t here to discuss or have anything more than a negative impact on this conservative website.

        • George E

I understand, but I want to retort his/her irrational claims with rational thought. That way if anyone casually reads through this board, they’ll get both sides of the issue. Hopefully, conservative thought will win out with most of the undecided. Thanks.

          • kate8

As I’ve said before, the libs believe that the murder and mayhem Americans suffer every day at the hands of illegals is an acceptable trade-off for “human rights”.

It will only be when someone in his own family is injured, a child abducted or someone murdered from his house, that he will understand why we’ve had enough. There is nothing racist about wanting to protect your home, family, neighborhood, country from the constant violations being committed on an increasing basis, or upholding the laws in place to do so.

Libs live in an idiology that works only in their own minds. They are completely out of touch with the real world.

          • JeffH

kate8, think they whine and cry “foul” with us, wait until they discover that the powers that they support will step on them like the cockroaches they are if their ultimate goal is ever reached. They’ll be swept under the rug, like dirt, when they are no longer usefull.

          • George E

            Jeff,

I’m convinced that you are right about that.

    • kate8

This is OUR country and we have the right to decide who is here and who isn’t. You libs are so determined to spit in the face of the American people, to thwart our efforts for sanity and preservation of our way of life.

Unlike you, most of us don’t get a kick out of watching as our nation gets sold out by special interests.

      • George E

        Kate,

All they want is the additional votes these immigrants can give them, so they can get our money to take complete control of this country. That’s all…..

        • kate8

George E., I believe that is a big part of the reason. But I also believe the PTB are doing all they can to stir up civil war in America. They are fanning flames and stirring up hornet’s nests everywhere they can.

You know the motto of the NWO: order out of chaos. They are deliberately creating chaos everywhere, because when everything collapses, the people will beg them to come in and establish order.

          • George E

I’m familiar with the tactic. Thanks.

    • Ted Crawford

Before labeling anyone a nazi, you might want to notice the name of hitlers party “national SOCIALISTS party”. I know, hitler was a fascist, generally considered a right wing group. Contemporary correspondance of hitlers staff, however, shows that they opposed communists as competitors rather than political opposites. He was further left than even they were!

  • Ed.

If the Federal Government is unwilling to resolve the E-legal immigration problem under our present Administration ( Obama ) then that leaves us no choice but to take legal action to try and protect our nation.

Congradulations to the Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer for SB1070.

The Mayor of Phonex can learn alot form the Governor. If Phil Gordon is so concerned about immigrantion he should go to Mexico and learn what they do to their E-legal immigrants.

  • skywolf23

bush wanted immigration reform or outright amnistey, he was as much in that camp as any dem. wasnt until 9/11 that he had to drop that idea. he would never get the easy path to reform he wanted.

i am all for common sense reform but we need to enforce the laws we have on the books first. and never ever do full blown amnistey, last time we did we let a number off and the numbers have multiplied since hoping we do it again. it was a enormous mistake, and just encouraged more to break the law in the hopes they would force us to do it again.

besides at the rate our government is going we will not have a economy or country to speak of before too long.

    • kate8

Republicans are just as much to blame for this as the dems. I posted a link that addressed how our politicians are all controlled through blackmail to keep them with the agenda. Everyone has skeletons in their closet (Obama?), and conservatives are especially vulnerable because they get held to a higher standard, and stand to lose more. Just look at how they’ve controlled Lindsey Graham, a prime example of a sellout for self-preservation. There are numerous examples.

No one is lily white through their lives, and our leaders are just reflective of our overall moral decay.

    • Ted Crawford

bush is progressive! Why would his actions surprize anyone? He did ,what progressives do, grow government, and spend far too much money! Let’s not be confussed by the R or D behind the name! It’s about progressive vs Conservative, it’s that simple!

      • JC

Or possibly “The Fed vs. The People”.

  • American Liberal

Ed, so now you want the federal goverment involved on Arizonas business??.. Your saying you want the federal government expanded in Arizona?.. Arizona law enforcement says they don’t have the funding for extra officers, so are you Ok with a tax in Atizona to pay for this law..?… By the way.,. This law has about zero chance of becoming law … You should have addressed immigration when you had the government for the last 8 years… But I suppose it was more important for Bush to destroy our economy then to deal with Arizona and immigration… What will you think if President Obama does what Rinald Reagan did?.. Amnesty…

    • George E

Amnesty has been tried, and it’s clearly failed to solve the problem. The American people will NOT sit back and accept another amnesty program, especially when they understand it will be done only for the purpose of giving the Dems more “legal” voters.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        George E,
Dam right. We didn’t give up when Bush tried it we stopped it and we can if Obummer tries it too!! The one weakness every politician has is they want to keep their job!!! Any politician that tries to pass Amnesty will be voted out of office!! The polls said 805 of the people were against it and evidently the way it was shot down under Bush they were real close!!!

        • http://?? Joe H.

I just noticed a typo in my post. That should be 80% not 805!!

    • marvin

am lib i see you are still a friging know it all word twisting back stabbing liberal like your hero,s obama pelosie reid sharpton soro,s and all the great society socialist that have plagued the world and america from the begining and have been beaten back at ever turn we the free people do not want your liberal socialist form of goverment and belive in one vote one person and you may think that we the people are to stuped to run our own life, but majority still rules and 70% is i know in your liberal mind is not the majority but the great state of arizona thanks and so do we the stuped uneducated american people that vote and pay tax so your beloved illegals can live of the fat of the land free free free it all free in america we the legal american people are stuped and don,t know any better

    • meteorlady

Blame Bush, blame Bush. What a mantra you have going there Am Lib.

The fact is that the law is the law and our government ever since Reagan has not enforce it’s own laws. So, as a liberal you think it’s right and just that these people KNOWINGLY come here and break our laws. They step to the head of the line in front of every single person that has filled out the paperwork, done their work is are not waiting to come here. You think it’s right that Americans cannot sometimes get into their own hospital emergency rooms because they are flooded with non-emergencies seeking free medial attention?

Go here http://www.cis.org/illegal and study the fact and then tell me that they have the right to come here and suck up our tax dollars.

      • Ted Crawford

It’s the progressive mind set, meteorlady. Remember, joe biden is still haveing lunch, with joe the plumber, at a cafe that’s been closed for 25 years! By the time they realize what’s going on, it’s over!!

A great commentary by Michelle Malkin…

Police state: How Mexico treats illegal aliens
    By Michelle Malkin • April 28, 2010

My syndicated column today responds to Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s demagoguery on Arizona’s immigration enforcement law. Calderon has a long history of bashing the U.S. — and then getting rewarded for it with billions of dollars in foreign aid (see here, here, and here).

I reported on Calderon’s aggressive meddling on behalf of illegal aliens through his government consulate offices in America here. Heather Mac Donald published a thorough investigation of the Mexican government meddle-crats here. Allan Wall has reported on it for years. Mike Sweeney, an Arizona Republic letter-writer underscores my column theme today:

“Having traveled into Mexico last year to various cities on the Baja Peninsula, a distance of more than 1,000 miles round-trip, we were stopped more than 20 times at various checkpoints. At most of those stops, we were told to exit the vehicle and we were subjected to rigorous inspections. Where does Mexican President Felipe Calderón get off with his hypocritical outrage at our Senate Bill 1070?”

The Arizona law bans sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws, stiffens penalties against illegal alien day laborers and their employers, makes it a misdemeanor for immigrants to fail to complete and carry an alien registration document, and allows the police to arrest immigrants unable to show documents proving they are in the U.S. legally. If those rules constitute the racist, fascist, xenophobic, inhumane regime that the National Council of La Raza, Al Sharpton, Catholic bishops and their grievance-mongering followers claim, then what about these regulations and restrictions imposed on foreigners?

    – The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?
    – If outsiders do not enhance the country’s “economic or national interests” or are “not found to be physically or mentally healthy,” they are not welcome. Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories.

    • kate8

It’s not enough that the libs think illegals have a right to be here. They are constantly giving them more and greater benefits. In many ways they have the best of both worlds: government entitlements, free food and medical, money for housing, they can get bank accounts without a SS#, can drive w/out a license – where’s the downside?

Only citizens have have the gov’t breathing down our necks at every turn. We have to show ID for everything, or we don’t get service. Big Bro always knows where we are and what we do. And then we have to pay for those who are allowed to roam freely to do whatever violence to us they want to, with really no penalty.

Insanity. If the libs have such a suicidal desire for America, why not just gather and drink that final cup of kool-aid and let the rest of us get on with it.

      • JeffH

kate8, we’re getting tired and fed up with the liberal minds undermining common sense. They’re more concerned about everything that doesn’t require any type of personal responsibility, the “just give up and let government be resposible for every facet of your life” attitude. Look at the comments by the liberal hacks and ifiltrators here or anywhere else. The left must have a “handbook for morons” that is used as there referances and talking points.

        • kate8

          Without a doubt, JeffH.

        • WarriorH

I added the H so now we can start our own 4 H Club.

  • Bob

Have any of you gone out and read the law that was just signed? If you Google it you find the actual law in PDF format. A lot of it is legal mumbo jumbo. Everything is the law that the governor signed is backed up by a federal statute that the federal government apparently refuses to enforce. The law is only 16 pages, check it out before some one blows any further out of proportion. To me, all the state has done is really forcing the federal government do what they’re supposed to do in the first place. There is a difference when one comes into the United States the right way and one crossing the border to kidnap, mame a kill your fellow US citizens.

  • marvin

what i dislike is for one the reps from great and bankrup over run with illegals state of california [thats half the reason their bankrup]getting on c span and calling for a boycot of a nother state [ arizona] this idiot need to take care of the people that put him in office not trying to tell the voter of arizona how to run there state with california billions of dollars in the hole and wanting the rest of the country to bail them out he need to talk pass immigration laws in cal not boycot

  • Barbara

Mayor Gordon made a stupid, stupid comment. He said that Pearce is more concerned with making headlines than battling the real problems that face Arizona, such as violent crime and the drug trade. Where the sam hill does he think the violent crime and drug trade is originating? The illegals are bringing in the drugs and crime has went way up since they are being allowed to come in. Hello! He needs to get his head out of his backside and smell the roses. You go Jan!

  • Airangel

Jan Brewer is up 16% since passing this bill..Go Jan…stay strong and fight the good fight!

    • JeffH

Airangel, like so many others have and should do, I sent an email to Gov. Brewer offering my support of the legislation.

      • Airangel

Me too! I also think if they boycott AZ, let boycott Mexico..no tourism anywhere in Mexico, no produce, etc…make them clean up their act and the drug cartel problem or go broke since they will then have unemployment with us not visiting or buying…Calderon has no room to talk down to us and needs to take care of his own people!

      • marvin

JeffH I HAVE EMAIL HER AND SAID TAHNK YOU WE ALL NEED TO ,IS THEN RIGHT THING TO DO

        • JeffH

          marvin, good job…

EVERY STATE should enact the same law. Maybe, just maybe, Americans could have some relief from the illegal population.$$$$ and Crime! It is not only ILLEGAL Hispanic but other ILLEGAL nationalities that need to be policed. If the Federal Government is going to sit on this and give American tax dollars to Illegals, then it’s time for ALL STATES to act. How many illegal Muslims are here in the United States and have their own camps? It’s time to crack down on this bull and follow existing laws or we will be speaking English as a second language.

  • Frank

Theodore Roosevlt’s ideas on Immigrants and being an American in 1907.’IN thefirst place, we should insit that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’ THEODORE ROOSEVELT 1907

skywolf23, It’s the conservative farmers, conservative homebuilders, conservative buninessmen that want cheap labor and lower prices. They tend to vote Republican so stop blaming the Democrates on that issue. As a matter of fact everyone wants cheap labor and lower prices so blame the system that have these desires. Don’t blame the laborers who are willing to do the work. Are you blaming the conservatives who got wealthy off of this cheap labor? A few have stated that Democrates are looking for more votes and blame Obama for the immigration issue. Illegals don’t vote and it takes years to become a citizen so Obama gains nothing from Amnesty or Deportation. The paper today said the Democrates and Republicans both have to much on their plates and immigration may have to wait until 2012. It also said that the Democrates are now forging a bill that will emphasis border security first (about time). Then the issue of legality for those in the country will be delt with. I’m not against the actions of Arizona because of the crime and drug problem and environmental damage. I personally would not tolerate any human rights abuses from either side.

    • kate8

Hmmmm. I don’t know about other areas, but where I live nearly all the realtors and construction companies are democrats.

During the housing boom, the wealthy libs from the S.F. Bay Area and So.Cal flooded up to our small community to grab up all the land and make millions with dense housing developments. Of course, they had to pay off the city councils and planning commissions to change the minimum parcel requirements so allow smaller splits, and to defer upgrading the infrastructure. They also brought in the illegal workers for cheap labor, and they surely did pour in. They put out of business local landscapers, brush clearers, and took all manner of our jobs.

Now our beautiful mountain community has too many people for our roadways, our welfare rolls are overtaxed and our jails are full of illegals. Not to mention a soaring crime rate.

      • JeffH

kate8, remember that the whole inflated housing market debacle was started by those working in Silicon Valley, living and commuting from cities and towns like Tracy, Stockton, Sacramento, Modesto, Los Banos…The commuting was getting so expensive and exhausting they started outbidding one another and making over-asking offers on homes in the bay area. I new it couldn’t be sustainable because it got so out of hand. Homes worth $120,000 were now selling for triple. Common sense should have prevailed, but no, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac said…you can qualify for a 0% down and $350,000 loan if your combined income is $35,000…
California led the rest of the nation right into this recession and look what it has led to…what a mess we are in!

        • kate8

Yep, and California is, and has long been, totally controlled by LIBERALS DEMOCRATS.

          • JeffH

California is just a pitiful state anymore…November is the “make me stay or make me abandon” month for me.

          • George E

            Kate,

I heard Michael Medved talking about California today on the radio, and I think he said the unions control just about every state office there. That’s why the legislature can’t get control of the budget. Does that sound about right to you?

          • kate8

George E., that is exactly right. I know several state workers, and what a waste of taxpayer money state gov’t is. Once a hiree passes a probation period, he literally can’t be fired, so there’s no incentive to work. So they hire more worthless folks to cover and shuffle them around to different departments. So the good workers do the jobs of several poor ones, but they all get paid the same. Which is a good deal higher than private sector jobs, I might add. And when they retire, they are guaranteed their pensions, paid for by taxpayers, many of whom have lost their own pensions because of the bankrupt condition of the state.

Every other fund has been exhausted, but they won’t touch state pensions because the state officials are making sure that they get theirs, even though it is because of their own mismanagement that everyone else is in dire straights.

The unions are out of control.

      • JeffH

kate8, I remember when they started and completed the widening and adding two lanes to most of HWY49 between Auburn and Grass Valley. Early 90′s I think, wasn’t it?

        • kate8

          Sounds about right, JeffH.

    • meteorlady

I believe that a human rights abuse is happening right now. It’s the fact that I have to work and give over my tax and healthcare dollars to support illegals in this country. I think it is a violation of my rights as a US citizen to have a country that enforces it’s laws. So don’t give me crap about human rights – if you want so bad to see these people get “human rights” then go to Mexico and work to change the government and the corruption that is there.

  • Chris

They had the head Sherrif on Fox News this Am & he said he will enforce the new law that it is no different than the Federal Statue already on the books, that is not being enforced, He also said that when their Green card is issued to them they are told that they must keep it with them!!! And that they have been told this for years!!! It is no different then me being pulled over by the Police & being asked for a drivers license, to make sure you are driving legal. Also this is no different than the Real ID Act, that is part of the Patriot Act that Bush signed into law. The Illegals should all go home, & come here legal, ready to follow our laws. I have read what is required if you want to move to Mexico, & they will throw you in their corrupt prison system you go their illegal. The Republicans & the Democrats have both played this game long enough, they both want there votes & cheap labor that comes with them being here Illegally. This is not a Left or Right issue, it is a United States Of America issue that needs to be dealt with. Note it is not just Mexicans that have been using the porus borders to get here illegally. The lack of enforcement has allowed many nations to come here illegal. I say put the Military on all the borders, we can put them on forgien countries borders to protect them but not ours?

  • eddie47d

I have been to Mexico many times and all parts of the country. It’s a wonderful place to visit but if you “stray” from your destination (city)there are different rules and they do stop you. They are mostly looking for drugs but it seems strange how they suspect tourists. When it comes to dealing with their own citizens smuggling drugs and causing drug wars it’s a different story. They seem to turn a blind eye for obvious reasons. Either fear of their own people or they are in cahoots with this lucrative business.

    • meteorlady

Mexico is corrupt and always has been. It goes to the highest level and the police are just as involved. The people of Mexico are used to it and take it for granted. They do not fight it or demonstrate because they are afraid or too lazy to try and make things right in their own country. These are the people that are coming here with that type of culture. I agree that many are hard working, but we are not over-run and giving the amnesty will not make it right – it will just reward law breakers.

I for one – don’t want people coming here that do not even understand their own country enough to fight for their rights and betterment of their own people. Most come here for economic opportunity and then find the welfare and government handout system and that’s it – they are hooked. They steal our identities, costs us billions of dollars a year and we just sit here and debate but do nothing.

Yeah for Arizona – every border state should do the same thing!

  • Airangel

If this is “racial profiling” and you want this “Federal” Law repealed and banned then I think we could oblige you and also ban ALL OTHER RACIAL PROFILING LAWS in order to give you what you want…equality…We need to stop the RACIAL STATUS QUO afforded to minorities such as….College entrance and scholarship money, jobs quota’s, welfare, medical care, housing assistance, etc..I mean we DO want to treat everyone equal right?

    • kate8

      Airangel, you are sooooooo right.

  • eddie47d

Hoodlum; At this time Jan Brewer is a one issue politician so why would you or anyone want her or anyone else as President of America? There are serious issues facing the USA and we need candidates who are well versed on a variety of subjects. I support strong conservation but I wouldn’t vote for someone who only makes speeches on environmental issues.

    • JeffH

      eddie47d, so true.

  • hello

Criminals should not be extended civil rights. Lawbreakers are criminals.

  • Another Voice

Don’t the police already have the right to ask foreigners for their passports? Foreigners are already required to register once a year so that their paperwork can be reviewed. This has been the law in most countries for decades.

Even though the new Arizona law sounds like an infringement upon civil liberties, it is not so different from the laws which have been in place for a long time. It is unfortunate that the crime problem has become so great in Arizona and other border states that they needed to resort to this, but if our government is not able to secure the border reasonably, then I understand Arizona’s action and I stand with the people of that state.

But Mayor Gordon is right when he says that the law is unenforceable. There are just aren’t enough cops to do the job.

    • American Liberal

Another voice… Of course the police already had the right to ask for ID… This new law is just grandstanding …it’s always been aginst the law to cross our borders illegally….if they really wanted to stop the illegals from coming here they would target the people that hire illegals…we have to much border to put troops on the border, a fense is nonsense and a total waste of money… The only way to stop them is to take away the reason they come here.. Some of these rightys in here are hysterical for all the wrong reasons..

      • JeffH

The anti-capitalist has spoken…”if they really wanted to stop the illegals from coming here they would target the people that hire illegals”…great idea, but, gee whiz…it might be tough to stop the illegals that don’t come here for work if they don’t work for one of the capitalists that hire illegals…how would we fix that part?

        • George E

Stop giving citizenship to their babies would be a start.

          • JeffH

George E, probably the most effective way…the only downside is there may be more babies abandoned in dumpsters and doorways.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            JeffH,
Not really. they would probably stop getting pregnant on purpose to come here and have their kid to become an anchor kid!!! The benefit of having kids would be gone!!!

  • meteorlady

The mayor of Phoenix is going to spend taxpayer money that the state doesn’t have in order to protect the businesses that employe these people, the apartment owners who rent to them, the businesses that depend on their business and the school system that will loose some federal money if their enrollment goes down. I’m sure the people of Phoenix love to have their tax dollar resource stretched to the point of bankrupt because of the influx.

Since when do you sue to not enforce a law. That just doesn’t make sense. The police are not stopping people merely to see if they are legal or not – ICE is supposed to do that. The police are checking ID (just like they do you and I) when they stop someone for a traffic violation or criminal activity. Maybe everyone here should read that law once again – or read it if you have not.

  • Palin12

Just another example of hypocracy from the left MSM. They call the Tea Party gatherings “angry, violent racists” with no video documentation whatsoever. Then these same media outlets refer to the illegal alien demonstrations in Phoenix as “mostly peaceful, orderly”. I guess they just happened to miss the illegals throwing rocks and bottles at the police, and painting swasticas on government buildings. The media is being controlled what they can report, and how they can report it.

    • kate8

I still want to know how ILLEGAL ALIENS have the right to protest in America! Can’t you just see Americans protesting in the streets of Mexico demanding benefits?

They have no right to even be here, let alone create a crisis gathering in American cities to make demands on Americans. ICE should be there rounding them up.

  • Okie from Tulsa

This is my first time to reply on this website. I have one question for American Liberal….do you lock the door to your house?? Why is it any different than making sure that immigrants entering the US are here legally? I lock my doors so that just anyone off the street can walk into my home uninvited. Don’t you only allow your family and invited guests coming into your home? Outsiders whom you do not know have no rights to my home to use my TV, my utilities, my linens, my food or my appliances. It’s the same with immigration. Only those here legally should have any right to public services paid for by taxpayers. Here in Oklahoma, 85% of the crimes committed are committed by illegals from south of the border. Since passing a restrictive law regarding legal immigration, crime has gone down. I am personally grateful that the law was passed.

    • American Liberal

When the economy went sour ( thanks Bush) a lot of the illegals left and went home or elsewhere so their are less illegals here now than when Bush was in office and that’s a fact you can check… You rightwingers just know the president already has a full load just trying to get the economy on track and deal with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan plus the international terrorist…. My point is most of you are just hysterical now because you want to damage our president anyway you can… And you ignore the only thing that can be done to stop illegal immigrants.. But you’re not interested on stopping iigration… Your interested in hurting our country… Isn’t gonna work .. This will backfire on you and same with the republicans defending wallstreet…

You would be right, liberal, if he were trying to get the economy back on track. It is very clear, however, that is not his agenda! If it were he would have reduced, not increased, spending. He would have targeted small business with tax cuts, designed to encourage growth and any number of other measures to reduce spending and encourage private sector job growth!
What he has given us is healthcare, the CBO now states will increase spending and the deficit! He preposes cap and trade, which will increase costs and cost jobs in the private sector! His goals are very clear, and in direct opposition to the stated ones!

    • angel-wanna-be

American Liberal, do you get your sheep rustling checks at the end of the month, or every two weeks?

  • Jeff Frost

Read the Bill people! I’m referring specifically to you “RADICALS”… HARRY!!!!! Have you read the bill? NOT… I challenge you also to read the message on the AZGOV site, where Jan Brewer gives her own message to the people, not only of the state of Arizona, but to the rest of the country! She PRAYS, and has PRAYED for hope and guidance, and it SPECIFICALLY states that THERE will be NO RACIAL PROFILING, NOTHING to do with RACISM in her state, and is actually very Humbling in the way she words anything to do with RACISM, or RACIAL PROFILING… It has to do with people that are coming into our country ILLEGALLY PEOPLE!!! Grow UP, and become more responsible U.S. citizens!!!! Did your relatives come to this country Illegally???? NOTHING is FREE in AMERICA, NOT even FREEDOM!!!!

  • meteorlady

The only way you are going to solve this monumental problem is:

    1) Freeze everything in place and secure our borders.
    2) Start visiting businesses that are known to hire illegals and fine them as per the existing law.
    3) Deport every single illegal that is found and make then get in line and wait courteously like the rest of the world does when they want to come here.

I resent the fact that I have to strip down at the airport and our borders are wide open and over run with illegals.

  • Leonidcat

I worked for Immigration Service and know first hand what the law is. First and foremost an illegal gets deported – that’s cut and dried no matter how long they have been in this country. Second – employers are to be fined substantially. That fact that our government has not enforced our laws for years if what’s wrong with this country now. We are over run with crime, drug dealing, drug wars, identity theft, welfare fraud, free medical, free education and most illegals work for cash. These people are costing the American taxpayer money in lost wages, lowered wage scales, social services, healthcare and education money. They are over running our prison systems and generally taking advantage of a free ride we provide them. They cost us more in one year than the two wars so are we stupid or what?

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Leonidcat,
It doesn’t always go that way. what about the 20+ illegals that were caught by ICE and Napalitano ordered their release and ordered papers given them so they could stay? The officers, by the way, were repremanded by her as well!!!

    • Ted Crawford

      Text book Cloward-Piven tactics!!

  • home boy

so lets see, their are 460000 illegales and the mayor want’s to know why the police are not fighting crime and drugs. does this mean that they just sit in their police cars and drink coffee and eat doughnuts all day? maybe just maybe their out numbered . wait till the crime is in his back yard and then see what he does.. when will poloticians start to use some common sense? this whole system is a joke.

  • Jeff Frost

WOW… Harry M. Farrah… Where is your brain come from??? Definitely from some “ALIEN” outer space distant planet, that’s for sure! Take your shoes off, and Put Mr. Pearces’ shoes on for a minuet nano-second!! I challenge you to not only read the personal story of Mr. Pearces’, in which he had an illegal alien, from Mexico, (And I don’t know where) that shot one of his children. Also, read the BILL dummy! It might open up your “ALIEN” mind. This bill has been around since the 90′s, as you can see. It has been introduced due to the recent “NOTHINGNESS” of our great (NOT) administration that has such a soft heart in doing just that! “NOTHING” to combat the “ILLEGALS” that are ruining our great country.

-Get a Clue Mr. Harry M. Farah- OR Go stick your head back in the sand, in where it will serve it’s purpose much more!! IN THE SAND!!!

  • eddie47d

Dee McClain 8:35am;Granstander on the commies, leftist, ect.”people all over the world are coming in droves to America”. A true statement. Maybe that’s the reason they aren’t going to Russia,China Israel,or Argentina because nobody thinks much about their societies. These countries have liberated few. It would be great if Iraq becomes a true democracy and it could work. It still doesn’t justify our pre-emptive strike against them and our falsifying this war. Kind of like immigrants coming to America illegally and then claiming how justified they are. (correct!) Do it right or don’t do it at all. Iraq and immigration are fixable problems but neither one should have gotten out of hand. If bilingual signs help Mexican immigrants adjust to America faster and assimulate that should be a good solution. You don’t have to forget your country of origin (food, culture) to be a U.S. citizen. We have German and Swedish clubs and they sometimes speak German and Swedish there and at home. So What! We have Chinese neighborhoods,Irish neighborhoods,Cuban neighborhoods on and on. We also have had Catholic and Baptists communities and many others. Eventually all learn English or accepting of their changing communities. There are a few exceptions where blacks are not welcomed in white communities but thankfully that’s not the issue it was. It all takes time for every American to adjust to a new situation and we can take that argument all the way back to our roots. My grandmother and her sister came from Sweden in 1916 and her sister never learned a word of English. Does that upset you? Most Mexicans come here and work hard and are looking for a better life. You seem to bring up the negative (crime)and ignore the majority who are just as decent as any American. We need to have better control of our borders (Ellis Island) and be more forceful moving ahead. I understand the anger of all the broken laws but it’s been done, All we are doing now is kicking a “dog” while it’s down (those assimulating). Our businesses brought these workers to this country and used them and now they are the scapegoat for all our troubles.

    • JeffH

I just love your contradiction and hypocritical style.

You say: Our businesses brought these workers to this country….

you also say to Dee McClain: You seem to bring up the negative (crime)and ignore the majority who are just as decent as any American.

      eddie47d,
You’ve taken the liberty to blame “businesses” as your scapegoat for illegal immigrants coming here…but have ignored all the criminals that come here also…

The positive influence of legal workers and immigrants aren’t a problem, so no real need to mention it as we’re talking about ILLEGAL immigrants.

…oh, if memory serves me right, I’ve never had a prerecorded request to press any number for a message in “Swedish”.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        JeffH,
        For that you press 21!!!

  • JeffH

This morning I went to sign my Dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, “Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare”. So I explained to her that my Dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddies are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care, and feel guilty because they are dogs.

So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My Dogs get their first checks a week from Friday.

Damn, this is a great country.

    • American Liberal

Jeffh.. The people at the welfare office just noticed you were relitives… Pretty silly story… Did you spend a lot of time on that nonsense?…. Until they go after the employers no law is going to work …illegal will cross our borders as long as they know their are people that will hire them… You and I both know that the majority of those employers are rightwing cheapskates looking for cheap labor…and if they can’t afford to pay our citizens am honest wage then they have no business being in business…

      • JeffH

AL, I can imagine that you were raised in a “liberal hatchery” and every 4 years you return home to spawn. The rest of the time is spent studying how to promote socialism.

yada yada yada…good luck in your afterlife and make sure you’ve got plenty of “asbestos” depends in your suitcase.

      • Ted Crawford

Wrong again oh clueless one! Statistics show that the largest offenders are immigrant owned businesses!!

      • zack

American liberal, the illegals do not have employers, that is the reason they are trying to get rid of them. You and all of us are keeping them up. You do-do head, can’t you get that through to your damn pea brain. They are not going to work when they can live off the government. Wake up, open your damn eyes, and ears, and see, and hear what the hell is going on.

    • kate8

      JeffH, I love it!

I have 2 cats that are of African descent. They should be able to qualify for something. LOL.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        kate8,
You’ve done it!!!! You’ve found our next two presidents!!!!! Congrats!!!

    • George E

      I love it.

Seriously, when I went to the Social Security office a while back to sign up when I turned 62, I noticed that most of the people in the waiting area were NOT seniors. That caused me to wonder “are that many people under age 62 drawing checks from the SS system?” If so, why? And if so, that’s got to be a big drain on the system.

      • kate8

George E, I’d guess they are on SSI disability.

        • George E

But so many of them?….. I’d have guessed disability cases would be a small portion of the total. Surely most SS payments are made to seniors….Please say it’s so…….Otherwise, SS is really in trouble.

          • kate8

Having worked in healthcare, I can tell you that there are a great number of people on disability. It can be for an injury, an illness, mental impairment…almost anything you can imagine. And many, many of them are quite young.

Unfortunately, many work the system here, too. I remember one fellow on SSI. I was shocked to see he had a second job as a personal trainer at the local gym. Another guy had a lucrative computer business on the side. I’m telling you, there are so many ways that taxpayers are being robbed. Oh, and when these folks go in to sign up for SSI, the worker registers them to vote – democrat. Including the mentally impaired, who have no idea what they are doing.

          • George E

Oh my God! The problem is MUCH worse than I suspected. Disability cases probably should be part of another program, not Social Security. We’ve paid into SS for years, and expect it to be there now. I guess the solution is to put more people (immigrants, possibly) on the program….ugh. THANK YOU POLITICANS…..you bunch of good for nothing scumbags. This really does defy reason, I think.

Thanks Kate. Better to know the truth.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            kate8 & George E,
We had a guy from Ohio that was on state disability and was a golf pro and doing roofing in Fla! He was coming up each month and reporting to continue his checks. They caught wind of it and set an appointment for him in one days time!! He was late and had the deepest winter TAN you ever seen!!! when he left, they had a guy follow him back to Fla and they got films of him on the course and the roof!!! He’s now in jail and has to pay it ALL back!!! Occaisonally there is justice!!

        • JeffH

HOW IS SSI DIFFERENT FROM SOCIAL SECURITY
          BENEFITS?

Many people who are eligible for SSI may also be entitled to receive Social Security benefits. In fact, the application for SSI is also an application for Social Security benefits.

Unlike Social Security benefits, SSI benefits are not based on your prior work or a family member’s prior work.

SSI is financed by general funds of the U.S. Treasury–personal
income taxes, corporate and other taxes. Social Security taxes withheld under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) or the Self Employment Contributions Act (SECA) do not fund the SSI program.

In most States, SSI beneficiaries also can get Medicaid (medical assistance) to pay for hospital stays, doctor bills, prescription drugs, and other health costs.

SSI beneficiaries may also be eligible for food stamps in every State except California. In some States, an application for SSI benefits also serves as an application for food assistance.

SSI benefits are paid on the first of the month.

To get SSI, you must be disabled, blind, or at least 65 years old and have “limited” income and resources.

In addition, to get SSI, you must:

––be a resident of the United States, and
          ––not be absent from the country for more than 30 days;
          and
––be either a U.S. citizen or national, or in one of certain
          categories of eligible non–citizens.

HOW IS SSI LIKE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS?

          Both programs pay monthly benefits.

The medical standards for disability are the same in both programs for individuals age 18 or older. There is a separate definition of disability under SSI for children from birth to age 18.

          SSA administers both programs.

          • JeffH

Many people confuse Supplemental Security Income
with Social Security benefits. They are not the same nor supposed come from the same pot.

  • Jeff Frost

Well said JeffH… You’ve been blessed with a silver tongue eddie47. You did say one thing right though! Bless your heart! Do it right, or don’t do it at all”??? Actually… I don’t know if that is right either!! It should be “DO IT RIGHT”…. End of story!

Most of you rightys are just all worked up now because president Obamas in the whitehouse…and this is giving you your excuse to be Racist..

    • George E

My God! Does everything have to be viewed in a racial context with you? Does it occur to you that it was the Nazis that used race as a way to divide the German public and bring Hitler to absolute power? Is that what you want to do with this country? Stop already with the racial comments if you want to have an intellectural discussion.

      • George E

        Sorry, I meant “intellectual”.

      • JC

George, AmLib is one of those shrieking far left communist radicals who gets self gratification from diversion tactics. (and probably torturing small animals as well) She is a graduate of the Alinsky / Hillary school of thinking that has only one class…ridicule ridicule ridicule. It’s a simple tactic and it’s all they’ve got. So ignore her.

  • Chris

The main reson I believe that neither party has done any thing about the immigration problem is they want them here!!! Our CIA & FBI depend on all of them to bring the drugs here so they can get a cut of the pie to support their Black Opps !!! Anybody remember the Iran / Contra Affair? Afaganistan Opium? They use these drugs to dumb down the populace, so nobody pays attention to what is really going on in the world!!! War on Drugs! Right, we can see how well our tax dollars are getting a return for us in that battle, Nafta, Open borders? Money laundering? The list is too long, Enforcing the laws that are on the books are a good start, but alot more must be done!

    • George E

      Chris,

Is this your theory, or have you seen evidence of this going on?

    • kate8

Chris, I just posted a link a couple of days ago about that very thing. Just do a search on the headline: “Illegal drug money saved banks during global finance disaster.”

There have been a few reports in the past year about how our own politicians take bribes from the drug cartels (and our own CIA?). Sure does answer the question as to why this continues to escalate and no one does a darn thing about it.

    eddie47d

you say there are a few white neighborhoods where blacks are not welcome yet, come with me and i’ll take you on a little trip, first we will go to watts in los angeles, if you are white i wouldn’t go there, lets go to several places in east los angeles, if you are not mexican i wouldn’t go there, i can take you all over the state of california from san ysidro to sacramento and show you the same thing. so don’t give me that sob story about white neighborhoods not friendly to minorities. also we can take a little trip to the liberal bastion of the bay area, walk down the street in most areas of oakland or richmond or many parts of san francisco, you better not be white. you are going to find this in most major cities so mr. white eyes you better start preaching your brotherly love to the darker skinned folks. most of these people do not want to assimilate to your society or standards. if we do not close our borders and stop this invasion by any means we are at the point of losing our country. maybe you liberals can carry olive branches to them and set a few white doves loose to appease them. most business did not cause this problem, they may have taken advantage, however, it is your liberal brethern with the passive attitude that have let the illegals across our borders and refuse to stop them, mainly for the vote

  • Airangel

The blood is already shedding at the borders. The politicians on “BOTH” sides need to get a back bone and enough courage to do the right thing which is to seal the Southern border and enforce National Security…it is no longer an issue with illegals trespassing on American soil. It is an escalated, security issue – period! Schools are having to shut down, hospitals are closing, American citizens are being shot or beaten because of the drug cartel, human trafficking is going on, gang crimes, etc…I don’t care which side you swing on people – WAKE UP! It just takes one person with chemical warfare or a bomb to cross with a backpack and kill millions…The border is not secure and must be and Arizona is doing what it must in it’s oathe to protect and serve it’s citizens…so I.D. away with many blessings…and don’t blame Arizona – blame the policiticans in DC for this mess for turning a blind eye because they care more about votes than human life! What’s a little inconvenience the name of safety and prosperity for AMERICA! Go Jan Brewer, Go Arizona…show em what the Wild West is made of!!!

  • American Liberal

A lot of you just want to refight the civil war… Go ahead.. Our side will win it again…

    • Airangel

What’s your side? the United States or Mexico, the safety of American Citizens or the freedom of the Drug Cartel…do you approve of what’s going on? If you were there in harms way and someone beat your mom or sister or worse, raped them, wouldn’t you want justice, wouldn’t you want your government to enforce security and tap out the criminals?

    • JC

      Haaahahahahahaaha :)

Angel-wanna-be;Puerto Rico has been trying to become a state for over 50 years or more. The vote is up to them not Democrates and the last time they voted it was against statehood. No liberal tactics involved so stop YOUR antics or you’ll be eating the cheese.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      eddie47d,
they have voted 4 times and all four times have ended the same way. NO! When will our government learn to listen???

    • Ted Crawford

The tactic is different this time. They are only being asked if they want the status quo or not. When they vote no, as they surly will, they will be given three choices: 1) Complete Independance
      2) Commonwealth Status
      3) Statehood
Their only, real, choice will be a vote for statehood!!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Ted,
I don’t know about that! If they choose statehood, they might be over run by illegals!!!!

  • eddie47d

Meteorlady;Almost EVERY immigrant who came to America legal or illegal came for a better life. They left their nations out of fear, desperation, religious persecution and/or corrupt governments. Even the Pilgrims. No one should be hunted down or deliberately turned in as you say. The commies did too much of that. I do wish like you that people would stay in their home countries and fight for a better life there. Every citizen of every nation should make a stand for their nation even if it means to the death. They should not only want a better life for themselves but their children and neighbors. It won’t change if they keep running from the problems and leave it to others.

    • Airangel

That’s fine Eddie but they need to do it legally and pay their share of the tax burden for safety, education, government assisted programs, medical care, food assistance, housing assistance…you can’t keep having millions and millions take, take, take…the scales are about to tip and soon the taxpayers won’t be able to afford it anymore…I don’t really care who is here as long as they pay their way and support the country in which they choose to reside in. They need to be part of the solution, not part of the problem!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Airangel,
you better hope they don’t “do it legally” by way of amnesty. It was reported that if they are given amnesty and put on the tax rolls, a family of four due to low education, will use 29,000 dollars a year more than they pay!!! Combine this with how much money they send out of the country to relatives, and it costs a whole lot more than we gain!!!

  • American Liberal

And the nonsense that youre afraid of crime?..citys run buy conservative don’t want to pay taxes so your laying off police, fireman, cutting metro bus service and turning out city street lights.. So do give me that BS that your afraid of crime… The fact is your aginst everything, you hate everything except Jesus and that’s just an act to condone your hatefullness…this phoney law is just more racial BS…. What you’re really doing is committing political suicide … Hispanics are the fastest growing section of society… And what are you doing? You’re driving th to us.. That’s the hard fact… Scream all you want and I’m sure you will but Its not going to change reality…you won’t even concider the real solution to illegals… Stop the reason they come…go after the people that hire them and they go home.. But you won’t do it..not 1 of my post has been about defending the illegals… Not 1..I’ve given you the solution but because rightwingers are usually very ignorant people you keep insisting that I’m defending illegals… Defending our president… And we don’t want illegal immigrants either …we want them to do it legally or to stay where they are… Wake up..

    • Airangel

Tsk tsk Am Lib…sounds like you have your own hate going on…did you know most of the law enforcement in Arizona, Texas and California is hispanic so where’s the racism? We ARE afraid of crime, especially those living on the borders…I’ve been there, have you? The drug cartel treat their own people worse than we ever could. They ransom them off, make them strip, whip them, house them in the empty foreclosed home…YOU WAKE UP! School children are in harms way, teachers, doctors, medical facilities….oh and guess what Am Lib..most of those kids, teachers, businesses are hispanic so who’s racist? Most of them who came here and did it legally want their own people out so they can have their lives restored. You keep name calling…you’ll note I never referred to rightwingers or left wingers…I said “politicians”. I don’t hate the President and sometimes even think he’s funny but I am against his policies and those he serves which has not proven to be the American people….oh and BTW I’m not screaming…just stating facts so calm down.

    • kate8

Actually, the cities and states run by Republicans are the only ones that are solvent.

    • Ted Crawford

It’s interesting to me to see you progressives use this arguement that employers are the main reason for illegal immigration! It is true, at least in part, many would come here just for the give aways. It is, by the way addressed in the law.
My point here is that if that logic is considered by you as a reason to stop this bill, why do you not accept the same type of logic as valid when it is used by conservatives in respect to the financial melt- down?
The housing bubble was caused by CRA,barney frank, criss dodd, fanny&freddy et al. The housing bubble precipitated the melt-down. To claim otherwise is no more valid than to claim employers are not part of the illegal immigration problem

  • Dougas K.

American Liberal? Hah, talk about an oxymoron! That ranks right up there with “honest politician!” I cannot help but wonder why the socialists want to blame American businesses for the felonies committed by illegal aliens sneaking across the border. It is a demonstrable fact that the majority of these crimials don’t sneak in here to gain employment; they come here for the free ride. And what kind of intellect (I use the word quite loosely) wants to willingly surrender our national identity by becoming “northern Mexico?” It is obvious that the “American Liberal” doesn’t travel very much since he professes to believe that having to provide personal documentation is in some way “unconstitutional” and a violation of his “rights” (whatever that is supposed to mean) but if he tried that in any country in the world other than the home of REAL AMERICANS he would be detained at best and imprisoned at worst. I also wonder why the socialists never mention responsibilities, only rights? I must, however, give personal congratulations to the socialists for their outstanding ability to do one thing and do it exceptionally well; they have more ability as a group to mimick an ostrich than I have ever seen in my lifetime. And, Flynn, I am in agreement with what you had to say, with one exception; the Obamanation, Biden, Reid and Pelosi are certainly not guilty of dereliction of duty. They are guilty of HIGH TREASON and should be given the same treatment as would be received by any REAL AMERICAN who was as obviously guilty as they are.

    • libertytrain

DougasK – well said. I often wonder about people who say these things too, travel Europe, try getting a job there – see what happens.

  • eddie47d

George E.; I respect most of your comments and you are usually level headed. Thank you. You did bring up a comment about the American nazi party and maybe you weren’t aware of this. Senator Russell Pearce who sponsored the Arizona Immigration Bill went on a neo-nazi (National Alliance) website and spoke about going after Jews. He also accepted money (not illegal) from the PioneerFund which supports these radical groups. It could be a conflict of interest or he could be a white supremist. I have heard of others in Arizona also. I know you mean well but some on this site go after Obama for his “radical” connections so I couldn’t resist.

    • George E

      Eddie,

      Thanks for the kind comment.

No, I wasn’t aware that Sen. Pearce had connections with any radical group. I’m sorry to hear that. I’m also not surprised that some of these radical hate groups support this or similar bills. However, I’m pretty sure that most of the folks on this site don’t want anything to do with these extreme radical groups, and definitely don’t agree with their goals or agendas. Still, having said that, I’m inclined to believe this law is justified, reasonable, and not racially biased as many are concerned it is.

It may surprise you to know that I’m not opposed to these people (immigrants) coming to this country to work. I just want it to be done legally, above board, on a pay for services rendered basis, and not on an automatic path to become US citizens. I’m also not opposed to making these people US citizens if they want to be citizens, are willing to assimilate, and contribute to our society in a constructive manner.

Here’s another fact… The world and pure white Christian society that you rightys want… Is never, ever going to be a reality .. It’s impossible… Aunt Bea, Opie, Barny , all gone… The 1950′s are never coming back…were gonna have Black, mixed, hispanic , and a woman president someday… And it’s gonna drive you nuts… You better wake up..you can’t win.. You better dump the hate

    • Airangel

There you go again “you righty’s”..I’m neither right nor left but stand for right and wrong, good vs evil, responsible vs. irresponsible, giving vs. taking, law abiding vs. criminals…again what do you stand for besides your own smearing and hatred of people that don’t share your idealism? We just want a fair and just world, a safe community for our families, the freedom to attend a church of our choosing, or not to if we don’t want to…we want freedom to raise our families how we see fit….and you know what, blacks, hispanics, asians, muslims….almost every ethnicity wants that so again Lib, it’s not about skin color or race or gender but about common decency and goodness in people, it’s the character and integrity of what’s in ones heart that sets individuals apart. You don’t have to be God fearing to know right from wrong and at least we agree the 1950′s are gone as it’s 2010…and good family shows are becoming extinct like Little House on the Prairie, Touched by an Angel, Gilligans Island, The Andy Griffith Show, etc…it’s too bad too that good shows are being replaced by Dexter, Reaper, South Park, etc. no wonder we’re viewed by some countries as having no values because like us they get “hyped up Media” which doesn’t portray the truth and so they only see celeb land and the way most of America is.

      • http://?? Joe H.

Airangel, even though you were addressing a “void”, what you had to say was important and very real. I often say that the children of today have a much more complex society to deal with than I did in the 50′s and 60′s growing up. That said, Gomer would have responded GOOOOLLLLYYY!

You better dump the hate and pick yourself a dry spot in the closet that doesn’t smell like pee because it’s probably going to get crowded in there with your cronies soon.

    • George E

I’d consider voting for Condi Rice for President, as an example of where I stand. There are many other women and minorities that I’d also be willing to consider for the office as well….. Do you think I’m a racist?

      • libertytrain

That’s what confused me as well – Condi Rice – I’ve respected and admired and would have loved her as my President. I used to admire Colin Powell more than I do now – however, somehow we are racist because we are not fans of Obama – I get accused of racism because I didn’t like this man’s politics but it’s not racist for those who voted for him only because he did have black in his color?

        • George E

          I know. It’s disgusing. Isn’t it.

It’s interesting how the people who see everything through a racist lens, are the ones accusing us of being racists. It’s obvious to me that the real racists are those who can’t see anything without putting it into a racial context. I also think it’s helpful to remember that Hitler relied on splitting the German population across racial lines to get to power in Germany. As you know, he blamed Germany’s economic problems on the Jews. We can see now that that was just a diversion to give people an outlet for their frustration so they wouldn’t blame his government. Using race this way is very distructive and dangerous for a society.

          • libertytrain

George E – couldn’t agree with you more – the things Hitler did and things I have seen in the last few years, in particular, are frightening if you view them in the “history repeats itself” context. And it’s not about being paranoid – but rather being realistic.

  • http://ArizonaLaws E Smoker

Personally I think Arizona’s new law is a great law. We all recognize that we need to allow a better path to citizenship, but since the state can’t grant the citizenship the only way we can protect ourselves is to enforce harsher penalties against all illegal immigrants. We can’t sort the good and the bad until the Federal government acts. Instead of protesting our actions people should be petitioning their congressmen to reform immigration laws. We just want to keep the criminals and drug dealers out of our state.

    • denniso

You ‘just want to keep the criminals and drug dealers out of your state’? So, you’re saying that ‘illegals’ are criminals and drug dealers? I hope you can realize that most crime in this country is committed by our own citizens…so what do you do when you arrest all the illegals or deport them or spend billions more on a wall and border guards and then, amazingly, we still have criminals and drug dealers breaking the law? We already have police forces trying to deal w/ crime whether committed by citizens or not. Most ‘illegals’ are not criminals…most work hard and at some jobs, like picking your fruit and vegetables, that Americans don’t want to do and they contribute to our productivity and pay taxes when they buy things and help local biz w/ their purchases.

      • George E

I’m not opposed to these immigrants coming to this country to work. I just want them to come legally, that’s all.

  • mtngem98

After reading thru the postings, let me give you all another view on the “legal” side of immigration. My husband, came here 12 years ago from Denmark working for a manufacturing company looking to expand to the U.S. After being here for a year, the American company that he was working with were so impressed with his skills that they made him an offer to work for them. At the time there was a very limited number of U.S. citizens trained to do his type of work. After an extensive amount of paperwork, attorneys fees and govt. red tape, he recieved his H1B visa. FF 3 years later. Time was running out on his visa and the same govt. paper pushers who kept screwing up his renewal paperwork, finally decided that 2 days before the experation date, he had but one choice. Leave the country and re-apply for said visa at a U.S. consulate! He could either return to Denamrk at his expense or since we live in San Diego, he could cross the border to Mexico. The morning of the experation date we drove 45 miles into the city to get passport photos. We then proceeded another 30 minutes thru rush hour traffic to cross the border into Tijuanna were we ended up at the American consulate. But, before we could deal with the consulate, he had to go to a local bank and purchase visa stamps for his Danish passport. Ca-Ching, Ca -ching. Now on to the consulate. We got into line at 9:10 a.m. The line by the way stretched around a full block. 75 + people all there for the same reason! 2 hours later, we arrived at the front gate and I had to leave him from there because I had no business with the consulate and was told I could not enter! (American citizen here!) another 30 minutes and I could see him still in line thru various windows. LUNCH TIME! Everyone out. We will return at 2 p.m. A quick lunch and back in line we waited, outside again! 5 p.m., he finally emerged with said visa renewal in hand. Had he not gotten the renewal, he would have had to figure out a way back Denmark because U.S. law clearly states that he could not re-enter the states without first returning to Denmark. 3 hours to cross the border thru rush hour traffic again and when we got to the inspection station a smiling border patrol officer never even bothered to ask either one of us for I.D. Just a quick wave thru the station and we were on our way back home. He now has his green card, (it took anoither 2 years for that) and is hesitant to apply for citizenship due to the fact that Denmark, unlike Mexico and points south, does not recognize dual citizenship! Does my blood boil every day I have to press 1 for English? I have to show I.D. to drive, bank or apply for services because I have the mis-fortune of being born American? While these individuals by there very presence, is a slap in my & my husbands faces. I will do what ever it takes to return the favor to these people and when they go through what we have been through, then maybe I will have a little more simpathy!

    • George E

Sorry you had to go through this. Your story emphasizes to me that 1) government bureaucracies are inefficient and a nightmare to work with, and 2) it’s too difficult for foreigners to get visas to come into this country to work legally. Both of these problems need to be addressed in any “comprehensive” immigration reform law. Thanks.

    • JC

Sorry to hear it. It’s what Unions and Bureacracies do, kill production and waste your time, all the while taxing you out of existence for the “wonderful” service they provide.
These should all be run privately and with full accountability.

  • Dougas K.

“American Liberal,” I just love the way you boldly toss out all your “facts.” Contrary to your stated “fact” I am a WHITE ANGLO-SAXON CHRISTIAN AMERICAN and can honestly say that I have never hated anyone for any reason. You, on the other hand, based on what you have written, cannot say that. I have never been so ignorant as to not recognize and accept the mixed colors of this nation and the world nor do I long for a “pure white Christian society.” The body of Christ in this present world has no barriers of class or race. If you had even an inkling of the essence of the Christianity you seem to despise you would know that and stop accusing those of us of whom you have no knowledge. Even you, who are apparently a heathen, should know that my belief in Christ prohibits my hating anyone. However, I was born in a country that has justifiable rules and regulations and BECAUSE I AM A BELIEVER IN CHRIST I respect and obey those rules and regulations as long as they do not become ungodly. When people break the rules and regulations that I, as a matter of belief MUST obey, and are not only allowed, but encouraged to do so, by you and others of your ilk, I find it very distastful. While it is true that “the 50′s are gone and will never return” I am sad for you that you didn’t have the opportunity to live in my country when is was, for the large part, a moral nation. You, “American Liberal,” need to get your head screwed on right and come to a knowledge of the truth. And, even though you might deny it, truth is only found in the person of Jesus Christ.

We’ve done this for centuries. I’m actually surprised THEY put up with all this crap they have to endure. They have more fortitude than alot of Americans. You seem to think that any American business that hired them is going to treat them fairly. They hire legals and illegals then fire them and cheat them out of their paychecks. You think these businesses are going to admit anything? It’s so sorry sucker! Would you work for someone who didn’t pay you or treated you less than human? Well it happens right here in America. Some immigrants use services because they lost everything to get here and then get nothing even when they do work.Pretty hard to adapt and improve your life when you are left with nothing. I Personally wish they would stop buying into the American dream and stay home but we just have to deal with what is.

    • libertytrain

eddie47d – I don’t know if all come for a free ride, but what I see in this part of the country in a small town-type atmosphere is shocking. Not like when grandma and grandpa walked across Poland to get here, endured the abuses tossed at them by the other nationalities – and managed to become citizens, fight in World War I for their new country and weren’t afraid of working their butts off for their kids, and I do know many people – in this time frame – who have come here legally and also worked their butts off to get ahead with no government handout – unless a green card is considered a handout.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      eddieduh,
you are so full of it!!! There were about 27 illegals busted in a meat packing plant in GA that were getting an average wage of 12.00 an hour! the jobs were filled by US citizens in a week! In Texas, along the border there are dry wallers, carpenters, construction workers, welders, painters and a lot of other high paying jobs being sucked up by illegal day workers that never pay a cent of taxes and then get benefits as well!! The same thing is going on in New Orleans as well!!!I have no doubt it is going on in Arizona as well!! Now, how would you feel if your neighbor was making 12.00 an hour and paying no taxes, yet you had to buy his food as well as pay his rent along with medical care??? THAT’S what you are doing right now!!! As I said before, get your head out of your anal orifice!!!!

  • eddie47d

Immigration is a big problem all over the world yet you hear almost nothing about the causes. Mexico does little about birth control and ignores the continual poverty rate so we get the overflow. It’s not right and we can’t be their sugar daddy forever. We do need to strengthen our border policies and show a little tough love to Mexicos politicians. They seem to be unwilling to solve anything. As long as they ignore THEIR problem it will continue to become ours.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Eddieduh,
So let the little crooks stay home and fix the problems in their OWN COUNTRY!!!

  • ThinkAgain

Phil Gordon, it’s over. Jig is up. Pack it up and move on. You are a sore loser. You will never be happy in the USA because you hate us, and don’t want to belong. Your blabber is boring. We have more great things to do in this country, and won’t allow sour jealous sadsacks to interfere.

Maybe they will give you that Senate Seat that will soon be open in Puerto Rico. Beautiful place. They don’t want to be a State, but maybe you could join those who are going to convince them it’s the best thing for them. Try your hand at control there. For sure, from what I understand of those in the States with friends and family still in PR, they are going to consider things when whoever sits in that seat.

  • GUS

This is abou my Buddy D…My name is D’Lynn – I’m a disabled Vietnam vet. which means I receive a veterans administration disability pension.., which also means; “I’m broke!” …, just one step ahead of being homeless every month.., and that’s not an idle statement.., or an: “oh., whoa is me” .., dire complaint. There is a point to this., so hang in there a minute, or two.., and read on.

There’s a 25 year old illegal immigrant woman living in Florida.., with eight kids. Yes., eight “anchor babies”. .., and she receives just shy of $1,500 per month…, per kid…, plus, medical.., plus food stamps. Oh, wait.., I’ve been in formed that I shouldn’t call them Food Stamps anymore – that’s not PC. It’s all called – ‘Social Assistance’.., now. You do the math on that yourself. I’d say that she was schooled early in how to make it in the system. 25 years old.., eight kids…, yep – she started early.

You can whip-out the calculator if you want.., but this women who never has paid a dime in taxes of any kind.., [ and still doesn't - she's 'illegal' - remember?] …, is here, in this country illegally.., paid not one cent in medical for all the ‘anchor babies’.., makes more in one month, legally, then I receive in over a year and half in disability payments…, and I can’t even get food stamps ! Oops – I mean.., Social Assistance.

Technically – I am eligible for ‘Social Assistance’.., I was told it would be a walk through – a gimme – being disabled., no problem.., and in the very next breath was also informed that under the law, the amount I received in ‘Social Assistance’., would be deducted from my disability pension.

Let’s say I take a great photograph. It was just luck., a one of a kind accidental – in the right place at the right time, shot. My local newspaper offers me fifty bucks to use the photo in a featured story. [ I live in a small town - fifty bucks is all they could afford.] I have to report that fifty dollars to the VA as earned income – which will immediately be deducted from my next months disability check. If I don’t report it, I am in violation of federal law., and technically they can stop my disability pension and prosecute me under a federal felony. Pretty cool, eh? For fifty bucks.

I see no point in dealing with two federal bureaucracies.., so I don’t bother. What’s the point ?

She’s here illegally – and with just one kid.., would make over twice what I receive per month. She…, has eight.., and she is not a stand-out case.., she is not alone. That’s the way the system works. Millions of illegal immigrants know this.., know how the system works.., and know how to use it. [ Haven't you seen the pamphlet? It's handed out all along our borders - "The Illegal Immigrants' Guide to Keeping America Just The Way It Is."] .., and that’s just the way it works.

Did you know that the federal government provides a ‘refugee’ in this country with a monthly ‘stipend’ of $1,890 – plus $580 a month in ‘Social Assistance’., ? That $2,470 a month. Tax free. That’s two and half times what I am allowed to receive as a disabled vet. And just what did they do to earn this? All’s you have to do is show up on our collective door step – raise you right hand and swear that you’re a refugee and bingo – receive $30,000 a year, tax free. That’s more then someone making $15 an hour., and they have to pay taxes to boot!

Now.., in defense of the Veterans Administration.., they are doing what they can – with what they’ve got. This is precious little compared to what they should have to get the job done. At least this country has a VA. It’s the Senate that keeps passing laws, rules and guidelines, cutting their budget.., denying requests for more staff, and computer systems to handle the massive work flow. Their hands are tied – by the very government that’s suppose to give them what they need to get the job done – by the government you voted into office. Don’t scream at the VA.., I have. It’s misguided anger.

The point to this ‘story?’ Just why are you paying such high taxes to support this incredibly screwed-up government? Why !? .., and I am not proposing you stop paying your taxes. That’s wrong. There are good programs and reasons to pay your taxes and support our government. What am I proposing? It’s quite simple.

    Vote.

The government.., our government.., is broken.., and we as the voters serve as the maintenance crew. We fix it.., by voting.

If your state Senator has been in office more then two terms – vote ‘em out at the next election. If your state Representative has been in office more then two terms – vote ‘em out of office. We put term limits on just about every publicly elected official in the country – except the House and Senate. Why!? Believe me.., they know this – and love it! Ahhh – the power.

I don’t care how much you believe your Senator, or Representative is doing a good job.., they’re not! Look at the government you have.., that we have. How can you state they are doing what you want as the voter that put them there.?? How!?
Vote them out of office. Do it.

Change the course of this country’s history by what you are granted and guaranteed under the law. Vote! And if you have the guts.., the anger.., the outrage…, start a petition in your state for a state wide initiative to be placed on your next state ballot. Limiting the terms of office for your state senators and state representatives – to your federal government – to two terms.

The federal government will never pass such a law.., but you can. You can get it done. You can force it. You can make it a law.

This is the first step in ‘getting it right’. Just vote. It’s simple. It’s easy, damn it!

This first step will send a very clear message.., it will work. It will put ‘us’.., back in control of ‘them’. As it should be… as it was intended in the first place.

Are you an American? Born and Raised? Then Vote!

    • George E

      D’Lynn (alias GUS),

It breaks my heart that we don’t treat our veterans better than we do. I am so sorry that you aren’t treated with more respect, gratitude, and fairness than you are. Maybe we can send a strong message to our political representatives that we want the VA properly funded and our vets taken care of.

I’m outraged that illegal immigrants are gaming our social welfare system like they are. Sounds to me like this 25 year old single mother you referred to is making far more than I am getting from Social Security. I have to pay income tax on mine while it sounds like she doesn’t, and she didn’t pay into the system all these years to get hers like I did. That’s just outrageous. It’s no wonder our federal budget is running a deficit with management like this. I guess we just need to pay them more income tax so they can waste it on programs like this….NOT. Makes one wonder “JUST HOW STUPID ARE WE?” to let this kind of thing go on….

Thanks for your contribution to this discussion.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        George E,
It’s even worse when you take into consideration that congress got a raise but our disabled vets didn’t get a COLA!!!

  • kate8

    American citizen = chump.

One can expatriate without leaving the country. Wonder what would happen if people started doing this on a large scale.

  • Dougas K.

eddie47d, you have opened the eyes of my understanding. I have placed myself in a precarious position. I am attempting to defend my country by being a proponent of law and order as opposed to the socialist position of anarchy and chaos. So I will always be up against a blank wall. I would, however, appreciate a serious answer to a serious question. Since you obviously advocate increased illegal entry into my country by rewarding those who have already committed the felony of illegal entry, do you also advocate encouraging real American citizens who have committed felonies to commit further felonies by rewarding them for having done so? If you answer no to the question, that would indicate that you encourage law-breaking only by those who are able to increase the voter support of your mentors who reside in Sodom on the Potomac.

  • Palin12

The Arizona law is already working, before it officially takes effect. According to my local paper, lots of illegals are already planning to leave Arizona. A so-called day laborer in Phoenix who stands in front of Home Depot all day said threw an interpreter no one has picked him up for any jobs for several days now. Poor guy, I guess no Corona tonight.

    • Palin12

      through, not threw…

  • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

    My Dear Sheriff Arpio,
I used to be able to fax you awhile back, until A.T.&T. Ca. changed their corporate mind. You were always kind enough to respond. Thank you. Regardless, I’ve been dragged into the 21st century with this new (to me) infernal machine. I noticed in the Washington Times that the “Tequila Party” was less than peaceful in your state. Might I suggest that if one occurs within your jurisdiction, you mount an “Operation Last Roundup” and send the miscreants packing. I did notice someone else had an idea similar to mine regarding a reality show about patrolling the border. Unfortunately, they didn’t have you as the main character. If our nation is sensible enough to elect , oh say, a Palin/Bachmann, or a Bachmann/Brewer ticket in 2012, would you consider becoming Director, Homeland Security? I know my state, Calipornia, will never willingly follow Arizona’s example, even if New Mexico and Texas do. Our country needs men like you. Men who are willing to stand up and “Do the right thing”, and not just in the movies. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to read these stumbling words of encouragement and appreciation.

    • JeffH

Myron J. Poltroonian, I can get behind that idea.

      • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Hmm. Bachmann/Brewer or Palin/Bachmann in 2012? Oh, I know. We could “borrow” a slogan from the left. We could call it, “The ‘Real’ Year of the Woman”. Or, “The Year of Real Women”. Or, “Our Pair have a bigger ‘Pair’ than your pair”. “Joe Arpio for Director, Homeland Security.” “Dick Cheney for Attorney General,” “John Bolton, Ambassador to the United Nations.”

        • JeffH

…I must admit that as much as I like Sarah Palin and would love to call her Madam President, she would be a liability soley based on the damage done to her image from the left. Too many people still believe what they hear and read with the LSM.
I would think that the possibility of a Paul Ryan/M Bachmann ticket could well be a winner.

          • Airangel

I am totally for the Paul Ryan / Michelle Bachmann! Great Combo!

  • Robert Moon

If this Phil Gordon joker refuses to enforce the laws of the State then he needs to resign his position as Mayor. It is absolutely ridiculous to claim this law violates someones Civil Rights. A Cop can’t stop someone because of race, a law has to have been broken before the Cop can make a stop to begin with. Once stopped then if he has REASONABLE SUSPICION there are illegal immigrants ONLY then can he/she ask for Identification. The only Civil Rights being violated are the rights of American Citizens. Illegal Mexicans are bankrupting border states, robbing our citizens, breaking into our homes and murdering ranchers. It makes me sick at all of the people who are elected and paid by American Citizens to do their job keeping our borders secure who are now siding with the law breakers. If they can’t do the job they were elected to do then we should remove them now.

  • eddie47d

Douglas K,I won’t give you an answer because of your last sentence or was it everything you said. We can all bait people and I’m not biting.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      edduh,
      Can’t answer, huh???

  • eddie47d

This ought to please some of you conspiracy theorists.Article in City Limits magazine by Kelly Virella. ICE by 2013 will have a network of prisons for all illegals who are rounded up. Maybe they will work with FEMA and their “death Camps”.Look at the tax savings if they work together. I personally don’t believe either theory but it’s like alot of nonsense you hear.

  • eddie47d

The Constitution does say anyone who is born in America is a citizen. Art.1 sec. 2 7/9/1868. Modified in sec. 2 of 14th admendment.

you give up to easy. palin will make a great president and the communist left won’t be able to stop her. its quite obvious they fear her more than any other conservative or they wouldn’t be trying to destroy her, giving in is exactly what the communist (democrats) want. i hope bachmann will run with her,

    • JeffH

chuck b, I’ve given up on no one. I think she would make a great president. I just think her image is too heavily damaged by the Obama left and the MSM right now, today, to give her a running chance.

There are still a few years before the 2012 elections and hopefully all of the negativity can subside and people will seek the truth rather than rely on the words of the liars in the MSM.

    • Palin12

I agree chuck, and I will never give up on Sarah either. I have seen her in person twice and taken over 100 photos. Yes, she bobbled the Katie Couric interview, but it was a learning experience and she did learn a lot from it. She had proven executive experience and would use common sense to balance the budget. Don’t let the liberals fool you, Tina Fey is not running for office.

      • denniso

Tina Fey would maked a better President than ‘barbie’ Palin…at least Fey sticks w/ what she starts, unlike quiter Palin. Palin will be stale history by the 2012.

        • JeffH

Your deep thoughts and constant well spoken commentary reflects the deep, inner battle you are faced with on a day to day basis. I hope someday you will be able to find an inner peace that can eliminate the unhappiness inside of you.

We hate some persons because we do not know them; and will not know them because we hate them.

        • Palin12

Actually, Andrew Jackson, our 7th President (the guy on the $20 bill) followed a similar path. He was in the US Senate and then resigned with 3 years left of his term and was out of politics altogether. He later went on to become US president. How about your bud Andy Stern recently resigning as president of SEIU before his term was up? BTW, I’m glad you like having comedians for your political leaders, maybe Tina Fey and Al Frankin could work together on balancing the budget.

  • Airangel

http://www.janbrewer.com needs our support..she is being hit with 2 lawsuits (one shared by Mexico’s Felipe Calderon – what a joke), plus Shakira baby is fighting with her celeb status for the poor law breakers, not to mention she’s being hit with Al Sharpton, SFO, all biased media outlets, etc…what a strong woman to stand her ground….how many elected officials do we know today that can stand-up for their people and for the right thing?…I feel just as bad for the Southern citizens going through hell to get here because their own country is so corrupt and dispicable but along with securing our borders and stamping out the drug cartel, slave traffickers, gangs, murderers and other violent crimes, we need to send Mr. Calderon a strong message to clean up his own country before trying to sue ours! Do they even have grounds to sue a state enforcing a Federal Law? Surely they can’t waste our tax payer dollars and sue based on propaganda!!!

  • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Since states have the right, because, in part, of the 10th amendment, to set their own election law, Arizona is set to pass a law requiring presidential candidates to produce proof of their eligibility to become president if they are elected – before their name is allowed to be placed on the ballot. I would like to see another proposal put forward: If you vote in the elections of a foreign country, or even if you’re not a citizen, but are applying for citizenship, you lose your right to vote for a period of 10 years for each offense. If, however, you’re nothing more than an Illegal Alien, then you simply lose your chance at any “amnesty” that comes down the pike – forever. Impossible to enforce, say you? Not with a big enough reward for turning someone in, say I. “For a few dollars more”.

  • ABinGA

Everytime we have a city council meeting and illegal immigration is brought up there is one particular council member who goes on the defensive automatically. She happens to be hispanic and her district just so happens to have a high population of illegals, even though we have them spread through out the city. If GA does not pass a similiar law as Arizona I’m afraid GA will get some of the ones leaving Arizona. We happen to have a bleeding heart liberal as mayor that will not untie the hands of our law enforcement. Don’t have to worry about voting him out though, unless he changes his mind about not seeking another term.

  • Earl, QUEENS, NY

My understanding of this Arizona law is that suspected illegals can be stopped and questioned only if they’ve violated another law – similar to seat belt laws in some states. But in many states, you CAN be stopped merely for not buckling up!! (I even heard about a Texas woman who went to jail for this violation!! How ridiculous!!) Why won’t these ‘pro-illegal alien’ morons protest these stupid laws instead?? GET REAL!! It’s not government’s role to protect us from ourselves!! But it IS the duty of government to protect us from criminals, terrorists, illegal aliens and enemies abroad. Yet government often seems to be failing at this. Look at what illegals are doing and costing the American people!! Therefore those who oppose the new Arizona law need to appreciate the need to protect America and its people from illegals, and quit whining about Arizona!!!! Enough said.

  • JC

    Earl,

The DHS has been stopping people on highways in Arizona for no reason whatsoever for some time now. They (DHS) have the ability to suspend all Constitutional rights within a 100 mile band from all borders and coastlines throughout the US, and they are answerable to whom?
(this can be verified at the ACLU website, search: suspension of the constitution)

Check out this video. The guy who is trying to broadcast this to the nation call these “checkpoints” DHS training points. As in training Americans to submit to any and all authority…like sheep.
He refuses to play their game.

if you condone the actions of that arrogant ass on the youtube video, you are as arrogant as he!!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        chuck b,
I would like to know Agent Soto’s immigration status!! He doesn’t seem to have a command of the English language. A lot of people might have problems understanding him! Shouldn’t agents that are going to deal with the public have a good command of our language???? This is not a racist question, it is a common sense question!!!

      • JC

        Chuck…think about that.
Since when should Americans be detained without “just cause”?
At what point do we set what’s left of the Constitution on fire and just forget about it…
Might as well move right into martial law / police state status and forget about what it means to be a “free American at LIBERTY” to move about within our own country.
I’m all for Border security…but this is not the way to do it.

  • chuck b

who are you people complaining about the law enforcement stopping anyone and asking for id. you can’t cash a check or drive a car or cross the border going south without proper id to get back, so whats the big deal and we are asked to check the aclu website to verify this so called atrocity. the real problem here is the communist activists have to protect the illegal vote, the muslim in chief and his comrades will need them in november. i think we should ask the aclu to produce id, the “southern poverty law center” and the “aclu” are the most dangerous subversive organizations in the us.
what a laugh! our law enforcement is protecting our country and these creeps are complaining about having our rights offended. it’s more offensive to me that they don’t do more to stop this invasion of illegals.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      chuck b,
I’m not against them stopping me and asking, but I do object to them stopping me and asking for no reason! I.E. speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving, ect!!

  • http://personallibertyjustice Trish

I always get asked for my passport when I go to Mexico. I always get asked for my passport when I go to Canada, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and the Bahamas. I am American-Mexican and have been racially profiled several times because of my looks. I have been stopped at gunpoint because I looked like someone else. Did I file a complaint, protest, scream and shout? No, I thanked the officers for doing their jobs and keeping my city safe.

  • chuck b

joe you forgot to mention the trunk full of wetbacks another reason they don’t like to be stopped.

    trish, i agree.

    • JC

Wetbacks? Ok, got your number now. You’re the reason the left has ammunition to call Conservatives “Right Wing and Racist”.
I believe in the Constitution and Law Enforcement…you believe in something a little closer to what the Brown Shirts were doing in the 30′s.
      Too bad.

  • chuck b

i believe in protecting our country not giving in to left wing communist who are trying to change our country to a third world nation.
so you got my number, well, ok. maybe i should call them sand backs they are coming in over the desert instead of swimming, does that make you feel better.

the left can call me whatever, there’s no meeting in the middle or appeasement involved in my politics. i am right wing if you think thats a bad name thats your opinion. i am a racists when it comes to people like jesse jackson and al sharpton (as if their not) and not a bit ashamed of it. i think you will find most all people have a preference for their own race ( thats racists) and you will find most blacks and latinos have their prejudice too. so whats wrong with that. i have no problem with law enforcement stopping me for verification. in those areas within a reasonable area of the border they should do more. there’s nothing in the constitution that says we can’t take every means to protect out country.the way the mexicans have spread out thru this country it will be necessary to profile these people whether the liberal faction likes this or not, otherwise open the border and let the world flow in, barry would love that he can use the votes.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      chuck b.,
you know we usually agree and I’m for protecting this country as much as the next guy, but this isn’tMexico. We don’t stop people for no reason and ask for papers. A drunk stop, OK. If they see you smoking what they truly believe to be a dube, fine! To stop us just to ask for papers, no! Even the law Arizona just passed says probable suspician. and now since they changed it, it’s too weak. I agree we need to stop the flood of illegals and possible terrorists, but how far is too far?? What rights do we have to give up to do it?? by the way chuck, I’m not your enemy!!

  • American patriot and fighting man

I get frustrated when they show pictures of illegals SWARMING across the borders, knowing all too well that if they make it across, they will be granted citizenship by inept administrations, who have no idea on how to stop illegals from coming across, so they placate them by bending over and accepting defeat. It is a slap in the face to my relatives who came to this country by boat and went through the steps of becoming citizens legally.

  • chuck b

    joe

thats not what i’m talking about, of course i don’t want the law stopping me at their pleasure. the politicians have allowed this illegal problem to get out of hand and i don’t think most people realize what effect this is having on our country. the area’s bordering mexico are almost to the point of being annexed to mexico, the illegals are carrying the mexican flag as if it is their territory. some places of business it is hard to find people who speak english, se habla espanol. the democratic party is gathering in illegal votes via acorn and we are arguing over law enforcement asking for an id?? the aclu and so pov law ctr. always start the argument over us losing our freedom with law enforcement checking id’s. these are the people that will eventually take our freedom and they are the ones we should worry about and they are using the mexicans as pawns. by the way i have family members of mexican descent and they are true american patriots. no i don’t want to be stopped unless i break the law and then i expect to disclose my id (drivers license) as per law. so i have no problem with the law profiling near the border and i’m sure they will do it in a professional way. i know you not my enemy nor i yours.

    • denniso

Looking for perfect safety and overly fearing ‘foreigners’ who mostly come here for work, we are too willing to give up our rights and privacy that people have fought and died for.

  • David

This is the amusing part of Goofy Gordons blatherings:

“He said that Pearce is more concerned with making headlines than battling the real problems that face Arizona, such as violent crime and the drug trade.”

HEY DUM-BASS! WHO DO YOU THINK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VIOLENT CRIMES, KIDNAPPINGS, DRUG TRADE & HUMAN SMUGGLING IN YOUR CITY; GIRL SCOUTS? Harry Farah, you’re a joke, as is this mayor. It is obvious that you’ve not read this law. Read the applicable Federal laws already on the book. Read Ca penal code 834b which has been on on the books since 1994. This law is legal & Constitutional & that’s that.
