As usual Bens’ attemp at humor falls short. Although his prediction about the NDAA may not be all bad; at least the problem is half solved.

    • dan

Senore Scott, eef you fail to see the humor in California being taken
from the liberal leftists and Hollywood Elite, then you are an hombre
who fails to see the humor in the Peter Principle upon which our government is based.

      • Deerinwater

Refresh us on these “peter principles” ~ never mind, I got it!

“The Peter Principle states that “in a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence”, meaning that employees tend to be promoted until they reach a position at which they cannot work competently. It was formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull in their 1969 book The Peter Principle, a humorous [1] treatise which also introduced the “salutary science of hierarchiology.”
The principle holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently. Eventually they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their “level of incompetence”), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions.”

I would think, that would apply to everyone, regardless of station. It sure describes myself and everyone that I’ve ever known.

Everyone tops-out at so point and reaches their limits for an assortment of reason. Never having much ambition to begin with, injuries, illness, mental limitations, socially dysfunctional, pass failures too large to overcome,, slow to heal, tired and give-out from carrying a heavy load from decades of hard work, loss of heart, loss of interest, you pick one.

It’s easy to set back and put the state of California down with her many problems. While I would not elect to live there, I am mindful of her rich resourceful history and the HUGE burden that she must carry today.

        Capital City: Sacramento

Look at what you wish, but she has 152 MORE people per square mile then any state in the UNION. That’s a lot of EXTRA people in one square mile.

That’s 21.3 % more Mexicans then all other states, and rightfully so, as it was Mexico at one time. But that so many are outside “a broken Federal SYSTEM” creates it’s on unique set of problems few other states must shoulder.

Not to mention one of their largest cities was actually built in a desert and has little water of it own. The area around Los Angeles was once too dry to sustain the population of a huge city. But infrastructure was built that allowed water to be pumped in from east of the region. Las Vegas had similar problems. It was part of a great desert until Lake Mead was created by the Hoover Dam built on the Colorado River.

Being a Conservative Republican and all, what is your “conservative” solution for this little problem? ? flock e’m feed them fish?

Considering the time is coming when water will demand a higher price then crud, I say it’s time to get out of Dodge, where you are conservative or liberal as it won’t matter.

          “37,253,956 308,745,538″

By posting this population number several times you have lost all credibility. That is more than the total population in the world. In fact it is quite possibly more than the number of humans that have ever lived.

          • Deerinwater

That the way it printed with the copy and paste feature Sir, I was late in realizing it. ~ That is two separate figures that got combined. and I failed to catch it in time. The column heading is also missing. The first number is California the second the US.

My apology for making it “difficult” but none the less, the facts are there for you to study as I had too. That I attempted to spoon feed you to keep you from working so hard and loose you attention, I lost you anyway. If you study these population numbers, it’s clear where they should be separated.

Oh well? ~ Whats’ to loose? what to gain? Insight? ☺

          • Joe H.

            deermakingwater,
you state that it was once theirs. Well one, that is past history!! Two, NO it wasn’t, it was their ancestors that NONE of them even knew!!! Get it right!

          • Buster the Anatolian

“I was late in realizing it. ~ ”

But once you realized it you made NO effort to inform other readers of the mistake. That said independent is correct your post has no validity since you knowingly did not note the missprint with a correction post.

          • http://naver sook young

Which ancestors are you stating? Mexico, Spain, or the Nativa Americans? Maybe the Russians? They had a settlement as far south as San Francisco. It is our land now and not theirs. They have no right to it, only the Americans have right to it. I will include the Native Americans on it being their land also. Thank you.

          • Deerinwater

Actually I was thinking, anyone truly interested in understanding the data I had collected would take the time to study the confusion that it offered and make one of two conclusions. It was wrong but why. ~ or it was just wrong.

We seem to have only two mindset here, one is to build some understanding and the other, to tear down and hate. Those that fall into the later don’t want to see, don’t want to know, don’t want to understand but only wants to castigate, criticize and condemn and lay blame of economic problems at a single doorstep while most Europe and the US is going through much the same thing but only in lesser degrees, so I’m left believe that self-proclaimed “conservatives” think they are the only people in the world with workable solutions, with right answers and everyone else is just wrong. Somehow, the world would be just peachy if everyone did as they say.

I hold no special personal fondness for California, I have only been there twice, point of exit and point of entry from Oakland area. My primary interest is the debate itself and defend a state of the Union against peckerheads with a political ax to grind that seem to think that the world was created on their birthday.

The area now called California belongs to her indigenous people and the people that have since elected to live there. She was once ruled by the Crown of Spain. Today she enjoys statehood in the US but the indigenous people and their descends are still there. There was not eradication or removal of the indigenous population during this transition of rule, like the Brits did in Arcadia when they discovered French fisherman had moved in and setup shop on their island in their absence, seeing it fitting to round them up and ship them off to Louisiana in 1775.

One of The federal governments primary functions is to protect and defend our national borders and not a state issue alone to bear.

Try as they may, this has been a daunting task in states like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California where a large indigenous population was more or less ~ annexed.

This “conservative” lacking of empathy to appreciate the complexity and the human drama associated with this is long been known. Conservative thought, wants the cheap labor offered by these people but they don’t want the “vote”.

So illegal immigration has became a non-issue when conservatives are in power, something to ignore or if they must respond, they do so with token gestures like a fancy new fences, 14 ft. tall made of weathering steel struck and forged in Mobil Alabama, erected by US contractors (native American interest mostly) using Mexican day labor.~ And everyone is happy! A little spread the wealth there, now you’ll be quite for a while.

Now when the Democrats manage to dominate the day, Oh! NO! we got an immigration problem! They are killing us here! Somebody needs to do something!

California has bigger problems then Texas, it was always a nice area and when we made it only nicer still, the Mexican population likes it even more! How can you blame them? Mucho Grasis !

That so many Mexican families are left out of the system, often paid in cash, not contribution into the system with tax contributions over time has created serious shortfalls.

Now,Everyone is paying for your nice lawn service, cheap roof job, cheap concrete work, cheap domestic help, lower meal cost in your favorite restaurant. Citizens are paying for cheaper labor with high taxes. If you are not in a position to take full advantage of cheap labor, you are getting screw by those that are!

It’s a, pay me now or pay me later situation but you will pay.

As long as this labor force can’t vote, the GOP is “happy” while complaining all the while.

I don’t have the answer to this quandary but understanding it will greatly help.

side note; Someone brought forward “Power shortages”. One of W’s largest supporters ENRON, had a lot to do with getting California where it finds it’s self today. Enron greased the skids. I don’t know just how knowledgeable you might be on such matter, but it much too lengthy to get into and worthy it’s own thread.

Allow a conservative democrat to just say, when you lose a dollar, it’s gone, ~ you never make it up, the most you can do in cut your losses.

            deermakingwater,
As far as your post about day labor, Here in Ohio, I employ only American citizens, companies that employ E check and demand proof of citizenship for employment! Perhaps, as an employer, if you would do the same and demand that the government make E verify permanent AND required there would NOT be a problem!! when I had a roof replaced, I required the guy running the job to show me proof that his crew was legal and allowed to work here in the US or he would NOT get the job.
I do my part, bob, how about YOU??

        • Sirian

          DNW,
It has become quite prevalent that people and businesses are leaving California while the reason is very public, out in the open for all to see – taxes dummy, taxes! The all knowing, all seeing (all satisfying) Democrat dominated state government has led this once wonderful state down a path that there is very little hope for – uh, what happened to Obama and his “Hope”? The monster that they created keeping everyone happy, and their vote secure, has grown out of proportion over the past thirty years and is now loudly knocking on their door. You can’t see it? We have had people moving back here to Oklahoma from California and buying large tracts of land with five bedroom houses, barn, ponds and plenty of space for the price they gave in California for a small condo. They always are simply astounded as to the difference – much much better!! Insofar as a solution, well that is rather simple too – clean house in the state legislature and governors offices and replace with common sense thinkers. Yes, water may become a very pricey commodity sometime in the future but let’s leave that for a later discussion.

          • Deerinwater

I believe it’s wise to leave, don’t you? Until the state can get it water problems and taxing issues under control. Don’t you?

It’s not preordained where people elect to live or my responsibility their wishes come true.

            So what’s your point?

          • Joe H.

            Deermakingwater,
They will never get their taxing problems solved as long as they allow illegals to flood theirnstate and give them FREE EVERYTHING!!
They also have a power problem they will never get solved as long as they allow the greenies to run the state decision making process!!

          • Deerinwater

If I’m not mistaken, national boundary’s is a Federal issue. And 43 offered up a fine fence while Arnold flew under a GOP banner, and today we are left with the final results of their fine efforts.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel that they tried to stem the tide of illegal migration. Could you imagine what it might be like today otherwise?

They fought this problem with mixed results. But let us understand , this is now, and always has been an on going affair for many years.

As long as you are attempting to single out one party, one group, one mind bent, one (4) years period of time to lay fault and blame, how might you expect anyone to take you serious as being a thoughtful, cleaver and wise person?

Why not accept it as being a complex problem and if it were easy to fix, someone would have done it already and taken the credit?

There are many complex problems in the world to address, ~ we can’t wish our way out of them. Nor will we ever enjoy a perfect world, it’s not intended to be.

I understand, I’ve only 20 years left to speak on such matters, I accept the fact that I will enjoy “limited” effect and see limited results.

If you were truly interested in such matters beyond the blame game, you would make a greater commitment and invest more of yourself in the search for resolve and resolution.

This “mind set” displayed and practiced by the 7th Calvary under the leadership of Colonel Custer was flamboyant and colorful perhaps but not very effective and far to liberal with material and human resources. Weigh the facts and merits of a long history and accept that humans will do what humans will do and this is driven by “need & greed”, while killing is not an option.

If you remove the non-voting bottom, that make you only closer to the bottom. How can you maintain a loft position without something to stand on?

If a pig had wings it would fly, but pigs don’t have wings.

          • independent thinker

“If I’m not mistaken, national boundary’s is a Federal issue.”

It is SUPPOSED to be a federal issue but since congress failed to follow thru on their promise to better block the border under Reagan the feds have pretty much ignored the problem except for perhaps occasional lip service. States such as Kalifornia that encourage the illegals to come by giving them full services no questions asked do not help the problem.

          • http://naver sook young

Well said Independent Thinker. It is a shame that states, like California, would offer such benefits and programs to people that are here illegally. This is a waste of resources and taxes. As I have said before, if I can come here legally and work with immigration, obey the laws, and have all my legal documents, then why can’t they> I don’t believe in giving them anything. I believe you need to be an American Citizen to get any aid from the government. Thank you.

            deermakingwater,
Contrary to what you think, I do NOT blame just one party for the immigration problem. I blame politicians as a BREED!! They are ALL responsible! They are SUPPOSED to represent the people, and they are failing miserably!! When Bush2 tried to introduce “scamnesty” a full 82% of the people were against it. They were all for closing our border to illegal immigration and in doing so, making our country SAFER! All your flowery words are pretty, bob but they go nowhere!! If I were so inclined, I could write two paragraphs to say hello as you do all the time, but I prefer to be short and to the point! THEY DO NOT BELONG HERE!!

          • http://naver sook young

I agree we need to close our southern boarder. Let’s station regular troops at our boarder and this will help stem the drug trade and illegal immigration. Thank you.

        • Tom W.

Oh Deerindeepkimchi, STFU!!! Y’all want to hear something really funny? DOJ AG Eric Holer recently said that the only reason the right keeps bringing up the “Fast and Furious” scandal is, and I quote, “This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him – both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.” This is the real reason that Barack was chosen as the Democratic nominee back in ’08′, so that everytime he questioned on anything, the lefties could play the race card. Wake up Black America, This guy isn’t one of you, his dad was a Kenyan elitest, who came to this country on a special scholarship to further his education so he could return to Kenya and serve their government. He met Barack’s white mother at the University of Hawaii and abandoned her shortly after his birth. After growing up in Indonesia with his mom and step-dad, he returned to Hawaii to be raised by his white grandparents, who although by no means rich, were pretty well off. His grandmother, who recieves almost no credit from Potus for his upbringing, was the first female vice-president of a bank in the state of Hawaii. Where he graduated from high school and went on (IT is said.) to study at Columbia and then to Harvard to recieve his law degree. Working as a communitee organizer in Chicago, he was private council to one of the Windy City’s biggest slum lords Tony Rezko! (An area I still believe that he is still vulnerable and should be attacked over!) I know he sounds like an Italian mobster, but was of Arab decent. His apartment projects on Chicago’s south side were some of the city’s most run-down unmaintained, roach and rat infested projects in the city!!!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Deer!

          • Deerinwater

You are not one of me either Tom, ~ but that doesn’t prohibit me from accepting you as a citizen and a rightful voter with an opinion.

I’m looking for what united us and not for what divides us. I could see it your way if I wished but to what end? To what good might it serve?

I fail to see some racial diabolical plan afoot in the administration office that is out for “whitey” , I take it that you do?

I do wish the current administration would abolish “Affirmative Action” , the need is no longer there and it’s a source of great consternation and resentment, does a disservice to all races of people.

I’m sure I’ve overlooked some of your points but they will just have to go unanswered, for I tire of sitting here on such a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, while I enjoy your banter so.

            Thanks for your comments.

Deer Bob — It is Saturday—I think! LOL

          • Deerinwater

WoW! Great! you are right. ~ I can dodge church tomorrow! I feel better already.

I’m out of sorts with the time since dad passing and my darling started working 6 days a week. Being an independent contractor, everyday is a potential work day.

Last Sunday at 6 pm. I had to roll out, with a commode stopped and flooded 1600 sg ft on second flood, and wiped out the bedroom show room floor on first floor. Havertys didn’t like that much.

Good thing it happen just before closing and someone was there. A mop sink that shared a common drain was left on and it’d been a huge mess by Monday morning.

So my days run often run together and I’m never really ‘off’.

            Have a great day!

          • JUKEBOX

If you bother to take a short look, you will see that OBAMA is the most divisive force in our country, closely followed by Eric Holder.

Deer Bob–I am sincerely sorry to hear about your dad. God bless.

          • Tom W.

I don’t believe they’re out to get ‘whitey’, I believe that they’re out to get all of us that aren’t one of them. Yeah us vs. them. What do I mean by that you ask. I don’t buy everything that Alex Jones is trying to sell, but have you ever watched ‘Endgame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement’, it’ll make ya think!
What’s wrong with our world, what’s wrong with our country, and what’s wrong with our economy? How is it that the one time world economic leader is now on the verge of being reduced to third-world country status? How is it our president is now seeking assistance for our struggling economy from the countries where we allowed big business to send our jobs in their quest for $14 a day labor? We should have told them back then to pack up and take their corporate headquarters also! Maybe you’re one of those arrogant folks who say that will never happen to our great nation. I’ve got news for you guys, it’s happening! If the U.S. Dollar (Which J.P. Morgan/ Stanley is now comparing strength-wise to the Mexican Peso.) is ever allowed to be replaced as the world standard currency, we will be a sovereign nation no longer. We will have become a member of the New World Order. Maybe you’re one of those who say that it’s about time, but before you go jumping on that one-world bandwagon and buy yourself a Rosetta-stone C.D. to learn to speak Mandarin Chinese, please stop and consider that we are the only nation on the face of this Earth that was ever founded on the principle that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator (The three words our president usually forgets when quoting this line, although to his credit, he finally did get it right when addressing our troops in Afghanistan shortly after Thanksgiving the year before last.) with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That’s not by the power of some king, queen, chairman, czar, dictator, imam, act of congress, or senate, but by our Creator! Which makes these rights undeniable! Is there a higher order to be sought? I think not! The New World Order won’t know anything about We the People, but will be of the elites, by the elites, and for the elites. The rest of us that they allow to live will simply be their slaves. Wanna see their agenda in a lapidary nutshell, in their materia sacra? Simply goggle “Georgia Guidestones.” I know what St. Patrick would have done. Goggle “Crom Curauch” to find out, and the true story behind St. Pattys’ Day and why it’s a worthy holiday to be celebrated.

“I fail to see some racial diabolical plan afoot in the administration office that is out for “whitey” ”

It isn’t that they are necessarily out to “get whitey” but rather the fact that they pull the race card when they are caught in wrong doing such as the Fast and Furious scandle and have no other defense for their actions.

I think Ben’s predictions may come true. Isn’t it possible for Obama to run together with Hillary on the ticket? I hope not. Hillary is not a good roll model for we women to follow. I have a prediction that Ben did not list on his video, Obama loses his reelection bid in November. I hope that one does come true. Have a good weekend. Thank you.

You may want to add the California thing is somewhat accurate.
Succession is a viable alternative to supporting that state’s
needs to feed it’s impoverished population.

    • Sirian

Hummm, wouldn’t it be funny, since you brought it up, that all of the central mid states, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota & North Dakota were to follow suit and succeed also? Wouldn’t that be a hoot. Then they all could charge interstate tolls, import/export tariffs, airspace charges/taxes and even more so double or triple the price of refined oil and natural gas (Texas) and grains, natural gas and now even oil (Oklahoma,Kansas & Nebraska) with not leaving out transport charges for the pipelines that run throughout all of them to keep the rest of the country supplied. Yep, now that would be a hoot and a half. . . ;)

      • Deerinwater

Louisiana is gateway state as well, If she elected to charge tariffs and ICW (inter coastal waterway)fees , the state would be one of the wealthiest states in the Union.

I’ve piloted her busy rivers and waterways, they are dangerous and commerce moves 24/7/365 days a year. You get 3, 300ft barges lashed together, a 1000 hp push boat, constant changing tide, a river 300 yards wide with a deep channel just 75 to 125 ft. wide, on a night darker then midnight under a skillet and you are in for an adrenalin rush you will never forget.

The state of Louisiana liabilities and room for potential destroy is greatly under valued.

Deer Bob– have you seen the BP advertisements on TV? They are promoting tourism in the Gulf states.

          • Tom W.

Claire, did you get a chance to catch the recent documentary on how close the disaster in the Gulf came to being a catastrophy that would’ve wiped out the whole Redneck Riviera? According to the report if the original explosion would have somehow caused an explosion in the well itself, it would’ve caused a tsunami that would’ve wiped out the whole Gulf Cuast from the boot of Mexico to the Florida Keys! I tried to find a link to the program online but failed to do so. I believe it aired on the History Channel about a month ago.

          • http://deleted Claire

Tom W. No, I did not catch that one. And in reality, I am glad I didn’t. I was so aggravated about the Gulf oil spill. When will people/companies exercise caution/safety and common sense instead of the almighty dollar? Sometimes I think these huge companies/ceos would sell their soul for a quick buck. I always wonder–how much money does a person need to be happy? Millions? Billions? And sometimes it is at the expense of our earth/human population. Greed knows no bounds. They do not stop and realize that when their time on earth is done, we all face the same “music” in one way or another. Yes, I am an environmentalist-not radical though. What gripes me is the utter lack of concern about our waters, earth, wildlife. I am fully aware that we need to provide our own resources, but egads, can’t they do it correctly?? Now if Transcanada gets their pipeline through the U.S., you mark my words, a disaster will occur. I realize accidents happen, but my gut feeling tells me they will not be cautious. The quality of workmanship is not what it used to be.
Did you see the documentary concerning New York and a possible catastrophe? It was an eye-opener to say the least.

          • Tom W.

Hey Ciaire, you remember the energyfortomorrow.org commercials that were running prior to the spill? Showing us with drawings and animation and a sexy female spokesperson, one that would make any of the Fox News bimbos jealous except of course weathergirl Marina Molina whom I believe is solely responsable for global warming! Mucho caliente’ se?!! Now what were we talking about? Oh yeah, what a totally safe operation it was?! And now they’re trying to sell us on fracing, let me see if I’m understanding this correctly, you’re telling me that you can pump a mixture of water and hydrolic fluid at very high pressure 1000 ft. below the surface thus cracking the bed rock and are able to extract more crude and natural gas from self contained wells and you’re not causeing any irreversable enviromental damage? Yeah right!!! Oh here we go with again with the drawings and animation! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for energy, but if our space program has proven anything, I believe that it’s this, we’d better be good stewarts of the planet God has given us. Because there’s sure an a hell no place eise for us to go!!!

        • Deerinwater

yea! I’ve seen that! I was pleased to see it. Louisiana is an expensive state to live in, even for a few days. Bring money!

They make good wages compared to Texas, but the cost of living is high. hard working , fun loving people.

and it is truly, a sportsman Paradise. Rich in culture, land and people. Love the way those Cajun’s talk. You should hear them on the ships radio ~ they got their own way of talking

          • Buster the Anatolian

Guess it depends on where you live. North Louisiana is no more expensive that Arkansas, Texas, or Mississippi. The two years i lived in Bator Rouge I did not find it to be more expensive than the small town in Tennessee I moved from except for housing and it wasn’t prohibitivly more.

      “The Last Resort”

      She came from Providence,
      the one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang
      heavy in the air
She packed her hopes and dreams
      like a refugee
Just as her father came across the sea

She heard about a place people were smilin’
They spoke about the red man’s way,
and how they loved the land
      And they came from everywhere
      to the Great Divide
      Seeking a place to stand
      or a place to hide

      Down in the crowded bars,
      out for a good time,
Can’t wait to tell you all,
      what it’s like up there
      And they called it paradise
      I don’t know why
      Somebody laid the mountains low
      while the town got high

Then the chilly winds blew down
      Across the desert
through the canyons of the coast, to
      the Malibu
      Where the pretty people play,
      hungry for power
      to light their neon way
and give them things to do

Some rich men came and raped the land,
      Nobody caught ‘em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus,
      people bought ‘em
      And they called it paradise
      The place to be
They watched the hazy sun, sinking in the sea

You can leave it all behind
      and sail to Lahaina
just like the missionaries did, so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign: “Jesus is coming”
Brought the white man’s burden down
      Brought the white man’s reign

Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
‘Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here

We satisfy our endless needs and
      justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny and the name
      of God

And you can see them there,
      On Sunday morning
They stand up and sing about
      what it’s like up there
      They call it paradise
      I don’t know why
      You call someplace paradise,
      kiss it goodbye

        • NC

And what were you saying about that nice man from Chicago? Father of two and and an avowed Christian. Something that you seem to not want to believe but can’T prove otherwise! Judge not, Christian!! Hard ain’t it??
You asked earlier about what has happened since Obama took office> Check the DOW,the job losses per month, the jobs added per month, the fewer number of Young Americans dying in wars per month, the fact that bu this time under bush 3000 people had been killed on American soil by terrorist.Did you miss this or has denial eaten your head off?

          • johnk

if the avowed Christian you have a supposition about is obama, then forget it. he is no more christian than the sheik of saudi arabia. The Bible says, by their fruits you shall know them.
by his fruits he is a child of satan, not a child of the Lord.

          • Tom W.

NC, Obama wasn’t involved in any church at all until he was advised to start attending church by a group of black pastors while serving as a community organizer on Chi-town’s South Side. he was told by the pastors that it would make it alot easier for him to muster community support if they were able to tell their parishioner’s what church he was a member of. Because most of the work he would do would be with the churches.
I’ve never said that Barack was not a Christian, He says he is and as a Christian I have to take him at his word. I’ve even argued on his behalf with people who say he’s a Muslim trying to masquerade as a Christian! I don’t agree with the Black-Liberation Theology he was taught at Trinity by Jeremiah Wright though. There is no such thing as Collective Salvation, you as a person are either saved or you aren’t. That’s something you do in your own heart and it’s between you and God, you either accept what Jesus did for you on the cross or you don’t, and it’s as SIMPLE as that!
Now that being said, you’ve heard the old cliche’ about the duck? You know, if it walks like a duck… The very first thing that he did after winning the presidency, after sending the bust of Winston Churchill that was in the White House, a gift from the Brits, back to Jolly Ole’, he went on a world wide tour of most of the world’s Islamic countries apoligizing for all the ills ever enflicted on them by the US’s imperial policies. Then his admiinistration blocked Franklin Graham from speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast because he said some truthful things about Islam after 9/11 that offended the Muslims. The truth hurts doesn’t it?! And every Ramadan since taking office he hosts a huge dinner for the world’s Islamic leaders. I mean, I’m just sayin,!!!

          • http://naver sook young

Sorry NC, but he is not a Christian. Reverend Jerimiah Wright speaks so much hate for this country, that he is not a Christian or a pastor. Obama even admitted that he was a muslim, so why are you lying to me? The Dow was at or above 14,000 when President Bush was in ofice. Many young people died in foreign countries during Obama’a term in office, so why don’t you talk about that? Why don’t you talk about how neither he nor the democrats in the Senate have allowed a budget or spending bill to be presented to the floor of the Senate? The Congress has passed 21 of them, but Senator Reid hasn’t allowed a single one to be debated on the floor of the Senate, so why is that?

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCAffMSWSzY

This shows the many times he has shown his muslim beliefs. He also has muslim roots and not Christian roots. His mother was also an atheist and believed in socialist/communist ideologies. Please answer my questions. Also, please post credible sources so I can understand what you are trying to say. OK? Thank you.

I don’t get it but what I’ve seen of it, it’s pretty good. I just don’t have the time to invest in GBTV. Two hrs. a day plus. It’s almost worth it just to get to see S.E. Cupp again who’s now on the GBTV payroll. Something about those power glasses make this old man think like a young man again!!! You can subscribe to his newsletter and get like the best of both his radio and TV shows for free. I Can’t believe he can’t find a sponser on a network channel! Like him or not, has he not been right about almost ALL of his predictions? He’s either a genius, a prophet of God (I don’t believe that, he’s a Mormon and thus a heretic.) or a spoonfeeder and that’s really scary!!!

          • Sirian

GBTV is a very good source of verifiable information. Sure isn’t the the same bull crap that we are fed by the MSM – extremely better. Now calm down Tom, you go buggy over S.E. and your wife may break out her cast iron skillet and bring you back down to reality – one quick slap should suffice . . . :) Glenn has sponsors, several that are also on the main networks, but I do agree, not as many – not yet. Yes, his predictions, forward looking predictions have by majority come about. Yet no, Glenn isn’t a prophet, simply looks at things from a different perspective – backed by plenty of factual evidence, that’s all. He’s developed a knack of being able to see through the political b.s. fog that has and is surrounding all of us day by day by day.

Even with all it’s economic problems California still has the 8th largest economy in the world (one site said 7th and another said 9th). They are also 13% of the US GDP,the highest in the nation. Still number one in Biotechnology so I think they will be around for a long time. South Carolina is also an up and comer with a rising economy so there are good signs out there.

        • Deerinwater

Watch out! Too much truth and positive energy will only get you bad press here.

Too many want to think of California as they might their own home state. She is a wealthy piece of real estate with a very diverse economy and social structure. Too huge to fit inside some people’s understanding of a state and state matters.

We all associate with what we know best and it’s no fault or foul. But we do a disservice to the understanding of California when we apply this reasoning and comparison. She’s a might state and the very reason some many has went there to work and live over the years.

8th largest economy in the world. That’s a lot of zeros. That a lot of traffic, a lot of power and water. When California set down for dinner, she could feed half the nation. To only focus on her present leadership and current slippages is being rather short sided.

Don’t allow your dislike for Nancy and Harry to blind you to any sense of reason and discredit a neighbor state of the union in the process. It’ might well be the state when the women are women and the men are too but there nothing wrong with women. Mr. Livingston is a most tolerant man, more so then any other political forum. If you can’t make it here, you can’t make it anywhere and but a dysfunctional, malcontent void of social grace.

You can learn & grow here or just try to spread your poison.

Best of luck, you are going to need some.

          • Tom W.

Deerinthepathofakenworth, my cousin had an abusive stepfather who used to beat him just for something to do. Then one day when Dave was about 14 he’d finally had enough and took a baseball bat and well you know the rest of the story. As far as what your old man would have done to me, I know you just lost him, so I’m going to respect his memory by not responding to that. I do know what my mom would’ve done to you though! A girl once said to me, “I’ll bet that she was the type of mom that made you cut your own switch.” I said no that was my grandmother, she used to beat my a#% with my Hot Wheels track!!! You’d have never been allowed to leave your room chump!

Tom re excessive posts. I think you meant excessively long post removed – I’ve seen that after I had seen the original – before moderator cut it down. It means you had pages and pages of post. That’s not allowed – they seem to go out of their way to allow long posts but there are some folks who just don’t know how to eliminate spaces in the stuff the cut and paste, don’t know how to edit their cut and paste. So listen to our deerinthewater – he speaks truthfully in this post of his. Perhaps you were being a little wordy, swore to much, too many links. I don’t know but look around and see how more than tolerant Mr. Livingston has been.

          • Tom W.

            “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”

I think Ben is funny and has infrmed us of the truth of what is happening currently in Washington and the current administration. Though is isn’t a professional comedian lke Jay Leno, Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, or the late, great Bob Hope, but I like the way he tells things. Have a good weekend and thank you.

  • Tall Ted

Why is it that no conservatives are funny? My guess is that the root of “funny” is “fun”, while the root of conservatism is anger.

    • Sirian

It’s very simple Tall Ted, you are so wound up in your political/ideological state of insanity that you can’t let it go for a bit and simply laugh. Good Lord, can you walk and chew gum at the same time?? Very doubtful, very doubtful indeed!

    • Vigilant

‘Fraid you can’t see humor when you are so angry yourself, TT. And you got it backwards: it’s the left that’s known for violence, anger and bellicosity, not the right.

And I would suggest the root of Liberalism is stupidity.

Sirian, I don’t think TT could find his backside with both hands, a map and a flashlight.

      • Sirian

LOL, Probably not. . . LOL!!! Oh wait, do they perhaps need a new regulation to take of that problem?? :)

        • Helen2

Personally I am a conservative and I love Ben!! I think he’s great and yes, most of the time he’s funny – even today!

      • JUKEBOX

Good humor is based on fact, and that’s why the liberal stupidity is so funny.

      • Tall Ted

actually, I can get by without the flashlight, most of the time.

        • Joe H.

          YUP!! Typical prog!!!

      • Pathos

Personally, I think liberalism is self servance.

    • Warrior

You want to see hilarious? 53% of the voters who showed up in 2008 got this!

      The Spectator – UK
      Quote Of The YEAR!. 2008

“You have to punch yourself – a Marxist radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshiped with, befriended, and endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in the turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power and anti-white racists, Jew haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States.

“And apparently, it’s considered impolite to say so.”

And that’s the QUOTE OF THE YEAR!!!!

      • Warrior

Actually, allow me to correct this. 100% of us received what the 26 or so percent of the population provided us with.

      • NC

If the right was as interested in saving the country from the bush recession as they are in creating silly names for Obama we would be much further on the way to recovery! Man up,admit your denial, and get with the program!Get over your conspiracy paranoia and that there ia a Muslim terrorist behind every tree.
Ain’t a country in ther world gonna jump us because they don’t know where our submarines are or what they are toting!!
This is the greatest country in the world and it’s not going anywhere so let’s get busy with fixing the weak parts and leave it better than we found it!

        • MNIce

Lighten up, NC! But before you do, let me teach you the meaning of “post hoc, ergo propter hoc.” (“After this, therefore because of this.”) It’s a logical fallacy that assumes if event B follows or is temporally associated with event A, the B was caused by A. For example, the Great Recession began while George W. Bush was president, so he caused it. It’s been well-documented that the economic downturn was caused by many factors over which the President of the time has no control. (I suspect that if GWB had lost the previous election, you would bristle at anyone calling it the “Kerry Recession. But by 2003, the popping of the housing bubble was inevitable, and quite a few investment experts saw it coming – it was only a question of when it would happen.)

By far the greatest factor in the current economic problems is sovereign debt and excessive government borrowing. And the king of borrowers is Barack Obama; in three years he has borrowed more money than GW Bush spent his entire first term, and has doubled the national debt. We have an expansive government that quite simply tries to do far too many things and is so overgrown that it can no longer be practically managed by any human organization, no matter how competent. And yet your hero wants to make it even bigger.

We conservatives are working on the problem! Most federal money is spent on things that are not even legally part of federal authority, much less responsibility. It is time to return these functions to the people and their local and state governments where they belong. And that’s what we are trying to do. I’m doing my part by refusing to participate in Federal welfare programs, even though I probably qualify for at least three of them, and I’m trying to help some people who actually are poor. I’m also urging my local government units to avoid taking federal grants because doing so exacerbates the problem. How about you? Will you go to your city council or county commission and tell them not to apply for handouts that Uncle Sam cannot afford to give? Will you contribute to your local food shelf, or to your church’s fund for helping the indigent? Will you help your unemployed neighbors find work, and counsel the non-productive to make something useful of their lives? Or are just going to be one more big-mouthed baby bird chirping to have its beak stuffed by the Central Government parent?

Have you made plans to make sure your elderly relatives receive proper care and support if they lose the resources to care for themselves? Like the housing bubble, Social Security and Medicare are going down – it’s only a question of when and how fast it will happen, and no politician on earth can prevent it, because they are economically unsustainable. It can happen in a controlled, orderly manner, with a change to a new, personally based system like Chile’s, or it can happen through a destructive economic collapse or government default on the programs. The Republicans have tried to suggest the former path, but Democrats won’t even permit the discussion; apparently Democrats prefer to risk old people starving in the streets in order to perpetuate an illusion of compassion for present political advantage, or they simply cannot understand the reality of $100+ trillion in unfunded liabilities and the rapidly declining ratio of workers to supported population.

          • Tom W.

Sic ‘em MNice!!! That was awesome, I too have refused to collect unemployment when I could have. One note though, Barack Hussein Obama Jr. has spent more than ALL the previous presidents COMBINED!!! And yeah, how many New Age soup kitchens do you see?

        • JUKEBOX

What about the 350,000 jobs Obama is going to destroy with one stroke of his LEFT HANDED pen? He wants to cut 100,000 from our armed forces, which will put another 250,000 defense workers on the unemployment line.

          • Tom W.

But think about this JUKEBOX, how many jobs has he created by having to use 20 or so of those special LEFT HANDED pens for that stupid narcissistic signiture of his?!! Don’t ya just love it when he says “Look, let me be clear.” Yeah about as clear as Tim Gietner’s W2!!!

        • Tom W.

And just how in the world are, ahhmm, people like you and Peckerheadinwatermaking this country and world any better?!!

        • http://naver sook young

NC, I agree with some of the things you said. You said that this is the greates country in the world and we need to fix it. I agree with you on that, but how can we fix it? You seem to be fixated on President Bush and anyone on the right. Though no political candidate or party is perfect, we do need to clean up our country’s current situation. Here are a few thongs we need to do, in my opinion:

          1. Overturn Obama Care. As this wll cost we taxpayers too much money and they have already reserved $500 billion dollars from medicare/medicaid. Taxes will go up to make up for the difference.
          2. Overturn Cap and Trade, the Patriot Act, disband TSA, the Department of Homeland Security, and all so called “Green” programs. The green programs will mean the loss of thousands of jobs. We don’t have enough jobs these days for all Americans that need one. Yes the TSA, Patriot Act 1&2, and Homeland Security were created under President Bush for security reasons. People always cry out from the left about these programs, but fail to realize that Obama did nothing to overturn them. He had a super majority in the Congress and Senate in 2009 and 2010, so why didn’t he overturn them as he promised to do? In fact, all he did was to strengthen them.
          3. We need to hold all elected officials to their promises. If they don’t do as they have promised, then vote them out or have a special recall election. If they could face recall, then they may try harder to keep them.
          4. Our Constitution. Have all officials go only by the Constitution and our founding principles of self reliance, personal responsibility, and keeping governemnt small, not increasing it by leaps and bounds.
          5. Our founding. All presidents, except Obama, have sworn on the Bible. We should remember our Christian founding and follow these sayings of our ounding fathers. Not a secular state, not freedom of religion as the left and atheists say, but the right to worship God as we see fit without being arrested for praying in public. This comes to my mind:

“Let us not forget the religious character of our origin.”

          Daniel Webster

“They…who are decrying the Christian religion…are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.”

          Charles Carroll of Carrollton

Since we have allowed certain groups to take a certain hold on this country, we need to free this country from their hold. If we continue to keep God out of public life and the public, our end will be just the same as Rome, Greece, and other empires of the past.
          6. Get rid of the welfare state. This costs the taxpayers too much money every year.
          7. Stop trying to “cuddle” with the Arab countries in the Middle East and give our full support to Israel.
          8. Have abortion made illegal, unless it is for the life of the mother. Lie tubal pregnancies and other life threatening times that may require surgery to correct.
          9. Stop trying to appease sexually perverse groups, like the bisexuals, gays, and other perverted lifestyles. This would mean supporting DOMA and reinstating the DADT polcies with the military.
          10. Stop bowing and apologizing to other countries. We are Americans and our country is America. We should try to be at the forefront and not merely trying to follow.

I know my list is long, but these are things that need to change in this great country, in my opinion. Thank you.

Because my dear pinko-comie friend, the only time y’all see humor in anything is when y’all are doin’ the funnin’. When y’all are the ones being made fun of, and y’all are quite comical in a sad pathetic sorta way, y’all get your sensitive little life ain’t fair feelin’s hurt and want to go out and burn something down!!! Neil Boortz had a good one, he said ” If we elect Obama to four more years, it would be like strapping on a suicide vest and handing the detonator to your ex-wife!” That isn’t funny is it? But smile, Jesus still loves ya! Even if ya haven’t had a bath in a couple of weeks!!!

      • NC

Tim, we hear this message very four years! Democrats are liberal socialist who, if elected, will ruin the country. Wilson and FDR did pretty good jobs in out two world wars. The site of “Bulls, bears, donkey and elephants” shows the stock markets have done BETTER, MUCH BETTER, under the “socialist Democrats” in the last 80 years if you have the guts to pull it up! Try also the site “Prosperity and the Presidents” which rates the economies of the 10 presidents from Truman through bush I. If you have figures that are different from these please post them here and we will compare them> No slogans, no sound bites, no “Bible” just facts and figures> Bring them on!!!

        • Warrior

And now all the socialist policies are coming home to roost. IF there is any advantage to this LATEST gubmint caused financial collapse, it is this. It has now been fully illuminated that ALL gubmint programs are constructed upon houses of cards and in order to perpetuate their SCAM of holding onto power and enriching themselves, they must sink to whatever level they have to steal from the working class, I.E. THE PRIVATE SECTOR.

        • MNIce

“Figures don’t lie, but liars figure.” How do you measure the stock market? By the number of FeRNs (Federal Reserve Notes) it takes to buy a particular group of stocks, or by real value in terms of hours worked or a tangible commodity? If you look at how the value of the dollar has declined since Mr. Obama became president (not the CPI, but in terms of gold, silver or oil), the stock market has not done well. On Inauguration Day 2009, an ounce of gold was $895, and the Dow was 8000.8, so the Dow was worth 8.9 times an ounce of gold. Today, it takes 12, 422 FeRNs to buy the Dow, and 1640 FeRNs to get an ounce of gold, so the stock market ratio has fallen to 7.6 – a decline in value of 15%.

If you use oil as your measure, the decline is even more dramatic – oil was $45/barrel at the beginning of Mr. Obama’s term, has more than doubled in price to about $100. Some of this is due to increased demand and declining supply, but a significant share is due to loss in the value of the dollar due to the reckless fiscal policies of the Central government.

The FeRN price of stocks is a poor measure of prosperity, and the apparent increase in the stock markets during Democrat terms is illusory, generated by Democrats’ generally inflationary policies. A more realistic measure of prosperity is the ability of people to support themselves. A quick look at the portion of the population who have become dependent on Food Stamps since 1/21/2009 shows a picture of economic disaster, even as the Dow has supposedly climbed by 50%.

          • Tom W.

Now that wasn’t very nice M, they’re already confused enough! Factual numbers mean nothing to them. Potus wouldn’t be able to get away with what they’re doing if they understood factual numbers. How much is a cup of joe at Starbucks now, $10?!! Just wait until the third round of QE comes along, or have we had that already?! Now I’m getting confused!!! Get me another beer, would ya dar Edith, huhhh?

        • Tom W.

The Bible happens to be the only fact, Jesus is the answer to every question ever asked. Everything else is a lie straight out of Ha Satan’s fork tongued mouth!

          John 8:44(KJV)
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

Just the fact of the two presidents you point out tells me that anything you’d have to show would be progressive propaganda. FDR didn’t pull us out of the Great Depression, WWII did! And Woody gave us the central world bank we so ignorantly call the FED!!!

          • Tom W.

Next year if the Mayans aren’t right will mark the 100th anniversary of that secret meeting of the elitest bankers on Jeckel Island and the beginning of the end of what our Founder envisioned!

But what did Jesus say? “Fear not.” If you think you’re going to be swimming in the Lake of Fire, I got news for ya buddy, you won’t be strokin’, you’ll be smokin’!!!

            Here’s one for you Sook – http://freemasonrywatch.org/washington.html
When I first started studying the Masons it scared the crap out of me the first time I saw the map of DC and all the masonic symbols in the street layout. David Ovason has an excellent book entitled “The Secret Architecture of our Nation’s Capital”, as a matter of fact the Masons have a website totally devoted to debunking this book. Mr. Ovason was not a anti-Mason by any means, and even held the craft in very high regard. You’ll have to admit once you start to study them that some of them are EXSTREMELY intellegent! Almost all of our national monuments are of masonic origin. As a matter of fact on the interior wall of the Washington Monument, an Eygptian obelisk, is an inscription that reads, “Ad Majorem Supremi Architechi Gloriam-translated-To the greater glory of the Supreme Architech.” just who is this Supreme Archititech? On the reverse of the dollar bill, the aura encompassed eye over top of the unfinished pyramid is what is called ‘The Eye of Providence’ and represents the invisable presence of said Great Architech. Go to
            http://www.aug.edu/augusta/iconography/webmuseum/emmausPontormo.html
and see an axample of how old this symbol is! If you think it represents God, you’re sadly mistaken, maybe the god of this world. (II Cor. 4:4)
A word of caution, if any of the things that Sook and I have been discussing interest you, DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT delve unless you are absolutely possitively sure that you are covered in the Blood of the Lamb! For those of you who might not know what that is, that you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior!!! This is witchcraft in it’s purest form, go ahead laugh!!! Sook thank you so much for the websites, go online and look up the membership rooster for the CFR (Council of Foreign Relations) no better example of how wide spread and bi-partisan this infection is!
God bless and keep your eyes on the skies, Jesus is coming! He loves y’all and so do I!!! I’m going to church (Heb. 10:25) I don’t care that the Broncos lost last night! See ya.

Tom, You got anything on paper that Jesus doesn’t approve of the effort that President Obama is making?

          • Tom W.

The effort to what? Underminding our GOD GIVEN American Freedoms?!! I pray for Barack everyday! That he will open his eyes and see what made this country the greatestest this world has ever seen! If he was to do that and stand up for those principles, I truly believe he has the chance to go down as ONE of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had. And not just in his own mind! It’s all summed up in this quote by one of the GREATEST Americans who ever lived!!!

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

Happy MLK Day! I hope that all churches everywhere will have the hymn ‘Precious Lord’ in thier programs, his favorite!!!

            NC,
I don’t know if HE has anything on paper, but I do! In the Bible, at the sermon on the mount, Jesus said, as they were holding the children back from him, “Suffer not the children, as they are as pure as the driven snow.” Adumber has come out in support of abortion on demand, even to LATE TERM ABORTIONS where the Dr. partially delivers the child, sticks a pair of sissors into the base of the childs skull to terminate it, and this is MURDER! If that child could survive outside the woumb, it is DEFINATELY murder!! Look at the girl that was aborted during a saline flush type abortion. SHE SURVIVED and is going around giving talks about it!!! There nis your “on paper” proof that God does not approve of Adumbers plan for this country!

OK, how about the fact that the decade of the 1980′s was so prosperous, that giving to charities across the nation was the highest ever in out history? Can you answer me as to why that was? Thank you.

Tom W. By mistake I was answering YOUR post and called you TIM! (My apologies to all named Tim.)

        • Tom W.

          No problem Nimrod.

Good observation Tall Ted, and well delivered. Did you notice the “angered” attacking response as they attempted to debase you and discount your observation? In essences, they actually validated your statement for you. They do love to hate. I think that they live for it. Must be one hell of a “home environment” to live in. I see it everyday. They indoctrinate their “captive audience” and the whole family is self validating.

We had family in from Mississippi for a week due to a “passing” , I was so glad when they left, dumb Crackers and some of the things they would say. It was trying times to begin with made insufferable with their politics and self-righteousness commentary.

I was the perfect host and they left none the wiser but we almost had 2 more to put under the ground. They didn’t have a clue to just how close they came. Ha Ha ☺

      • Tom W.

How in the hell did you ever make it out of Dixie alive Zindiq?!
Truly sorry about you loss, all jokes aside.

    • Deerinwater

      “Tall Ted says:
      January 14, 2012 at 9:50 am
Why is it that no conservatives are funny? My guess is that the root of “funny” is “fun”, while the root of conservatism is anger.”

Fear ! and anger Ted, they fear and this makes them angry.

That they elected to attack you and attempted to belittle and debase you personally as oppose to attacking your message is darn near self validating testimony of their fear.

It is a human trait to laugh at fear, all the war vets here can remember how how it was and how we would laughed ~ over nothing really. It was not obvious at the time, we just thought everything funny and there was no time for “fear” when things went crazy and any sense of control or right and wrong was lost. We lived in fear and laughing is a way to cope with fear.

Since people like yourself , Clair, Karolyn and I harbor no great fears of the political process taking place today, it’s hard for us to share Ben Crystal and companies humor, as there is seen, none to be had.

So, Ben is afraid and these people share his fear and think him funny.

Also, I am beginning to seriously doubt that Obama will step aside if he is not re-elected in November 2012. He commonly ignores the U.S. Constitution anyway, so why would anyone expect that he will obey it come election day or when the new President attempts to take office in January 2013?

    • eddie47d

Why would he worry about being reelected? The way the Republican candidates(except Paul) are acting in all their phony bluster and arrogance I’m beginning to believe Obama will be with us until Jan. 2017

I just heard that Iranian speedboats are harrassing our ships–as much as I despise war/conflict–if the Iranians fire on our ships, I hope we blow them out of the water.

    • Deerinwater

Oh! they will! Play with the bull and you get the horn, it’s just a matter of time.

We might lose a vessel in all this posturing , so be prepared. But if we do, it’s going to bring down the thunder, I wouldn’t give you a nickle for anything Iranian that fly’s or floats.

    • Jay

Maybe they’re Iranian ships, or maybe they are not. I did notice the Iranian flags on them, however, considering the current administration’s determined resolve to engage Iran in a war, those so-called, Iranian ships, could be our own!

      • Tom W.

You surely are delutional aren’t you Jay?!!

      • http://deleted Claire

It would not be in the best interests for the administration to go after Iran without legitimate cause. It is an election year. No one wants war, but then again if our ships are attacked, we must retaliate. Let them strike the first blow, but we “finish it.”

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
Think about what you are saying. What would almost guarantee Adumbers reelection?? appearing to DEFEND the NATION!! The voters are very easily fooled as was demonstrated in RVN. It was NOT the NVA that attacked that ship in the gulf of Tonkin!!

Media Management And Public Relations Is Very Professional

The impacts of public relations cannot be underestimated. In the commercial world, marketing and advertising are typically needed to make people aware of products. There are many issues in that area alone.

When it comes to propaganda for purposes of war, for example, professional public relations firms can often be involved to help sell a war. In cases where a war is questionable, the PR firms are indirectly contributing to the eventual and therefore unavoidable casualties. Media management may also be used to promote certain political policies and ideologies. Where this is problematic for the citizenry is when media reports on various issues do not attribute their sources properly.

Some techniques used by governments and parties/people with hidden agendas include:

      Paying journalists to promote certain issues without the journalist acknowledging this, or without the media mentioning the sources;

Governments and individuals contracting PR firms to sell a war, or other important issues
Disinformation or partial information reported as news or fact without attributing sources that might be questionable

PR firms feeding stories to the press without revealing the nature of the information with the intention of creating a public opinion where even human rights groups fell for some of the disinformation, thus creating an even more effective propaganda campaign.

The Gulf War in Iraq, 1991, highlighted a lot of PR work in action. Founder of the Washington PR firm, The Rendon Group, John Rendon told cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996:

“I am not a national security strategist or a military tactician,” Rendon said. “I am a politician, and a person who uses communication to meet public policy or corporate policy objectives. In fact, I am an information warrior and a perception manager.” He reminded the Air Force cadets that when victorious troops rolled into Kuwait City at the end of the first war in the Persian Gulf, they were greeted by hundreds of Kuwaitis waving small American flags. The scene, flashed around the world on television screens, sent the message that U.S. Marines were being welcomed in Kuwait as liberating heroes.

“Did you ever stop to wonder,” Rendon asked, “how the people of Kuwait City, after being held hostage for seven long and painful months, were able to get hand-held American, and for that matter, the flags of other coalition countries?” He paused for effect. “Well, you now know the answer. That was one of my jobs then.”

… Public relations firms often do their work behind the scenes….But his description of himself as a “perception manager” echoes the language of Pentagon planners, who define “perception management” as “actions to convey and (or) deny selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning. … In various ways, perception management combines truth projection, operations security, cover, and deception, and psyops [psychological operations].”

A Bay of Tonkin moment Jay, I’m impressed!

        • Tom W.

          Seriously!!!

          • Tom W.

Ever hear of this one Jay? Operation Northwoods was a series of false-flag proposals that originated within the United States government in 1962. The proposals called for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), or other operatives, to commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities and elsewhere. These acts of terrorism were to be blamed on Cuba in order to create public support for a war against that nation, which had recently become communist under Fidel Castro.[2] One part of Operation Northwoods was to “develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington.”
Operation Northwoods proposals included hijackings and bombings followed by the introduction of phony evidence that would implicate the Cuban government. It stated: “The desired resultant from the execution of this plan would be to place the United States in the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere.”
Several other proposals were included within Operation Northwoods, including real or simulated actions against various U.S. military and civilian targets. The plan was drafted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, signed by Chairman Lyman Lemnitzer and sent to the Secretary of Defense. Although part of the U.S. government’s Cuban Project anti-communist initiative, Operation Northwoods was never officially accepted; it was authored by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but then rejected by President John F. Kennedy.

      jopa,
OK, listen, I was merely kidding about the central states seceding from the Union and implementing all of the extra tolls, charges, surcharges etc. But to answer your question, alright, look at it this way. If they all pulled out of the Union and were totally independent sovereign states/nations then would they no longer be receiving Federal funds of any kind other than perhaps “Foreign Aide” (just about anyone can get that) from the new Grand Central Government of Washington D.C.? With that being the case then wouldn’t it be beneficial to all of the new states/nations to do what is necessary to maintain their states financially sound? Why of course it would. Looking at it from a different angle though, in actuality, it may very well, in the long run, be much more beneficial to all of the central states – financially and otherwise. Sure, overall it’s nothing more than a wild idea tossed out there as an extremely funny notion. So don’t worry about it. BTW, if you come into Oklahoma on I-44 or I-35, guess what? You pay a toll – isn’t that odd?. . . :)

I didn’t even listen to Ben’s comment, I find more humor in some of the posts though.

    • Deerinwater

Same here, Ben seems to draws out the goon squad and it’s fun to burn a few hours before the sun gets high and it’s nice to go outdoors.

I could go to church, but being Church of Christ (by birth and not choice) there is limits to just how much ‘out of pitch’ sings I can endure.

I’ve about decided they like it that way, ~ kinda like some of that nasal, whinny country Music sound that some people get off on.

Jones and Haggard excluded “of course”

      • Jay

You are a riot, Deerinwater! LOL

      • Tom W.

Some instruments would help wouldn’t they?

        Psalm 150
“Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

        • Deerinwater

The song leader, has this small pitch fork in his pocket, maybe several of then , I don’t know. ~ 440 A a C and a D I suppose.

He pulls it out and strikes it and puts it to his ear before each song. Maybe he’s just got one! ???

Man , you know that you are in trouble when the song leader uses a pick fork to find “pitch”. They needs one for the whole gd congregation. Most godawful singing I ever heard. Reminded me of my daughters 1st grade class Christmas play. I think the kids were better, as least they were all “trying” to sing the same note and not all 3 parts.

        • Jay

Rather hypocritical, and impossible to rightly to praise Him, when you are forever cursing His image. Wouldn’t you agree,Tom?

    • Sirian

Well jopa, you’ve just revealed your true self quite boldly. Isn’t it wonderful? A self acclaimed useful idiot at its prime. Have fun trolling for something to make yourself feel important, just don’t forget to change your diaper now and then.

      • Deerinwater

Myself, I like the truth, whatever it is. ~ I forego Ben myself, seeing little need, he’s just not funny, or factual, but delivers embellished inference statements, guilt by association, circular reasoning with a weak setup and dull point on the hook. Just Throws names and labels around hoping something might be gooy enough to stick or strike a nerve and trigger a knee jerk reaction.

“Useful idiot” would best describe and explain the laughter from my personal point of view.

But I have already went over the reason for this grand abyss in the search of humor and leaving it for each to decide on their own accord.
