LEWES, Del., Aug. 26 (UPI) — A Delaware pediatrician was sentenced to life with no parole Friday for what a prosecutor called “unspeakable acts” of sexual assault on young patients.
Dr. Earl Bradley, 58, who practiced in the Lewes area, received 14 life sentences, The News Journal of Wilmington reported. Superior Court Judge William C. Carpenter convicted him in June of raping or molesting 85 girls and a boy, some of them still in diapers, in more than a decade.
Bradley’s lawyers plan to appeal the seizure of videotapes from his office. During the one-day trial, they did not contest what was shown on the tapes, which were not shown in court although a state trooper described their contents.
The trooper said the tapes showed diaper-clad youngsters trying to crawl away from Bradley and an assault on a 7-year-old girl who was unconscious from nitrous oxide.
“Earl Bradley committed unspeakable acts upon those who could not speak for themselves,” Paula Ryan, the chief prosecutor, said Friday. “He deliberately manipulated the parents of these children. He manipulated those who worked with him, and he repeatedly and intentionally — without remorse or hesitation — attacked and sexually assaulted toddlers and non-verbal children.”
