Paul Says No Way To Trump Debate

Paul Says No Way To Trump Debate

Republican Presidential hopeful Ron Paul says that he will not attend the GOP debate in Iowa to be hosted by Donald Trump on Dec. 27 because he says the reality star’s presence undermines the Nation’s highest office.

“The selection of a reality television personality to host a presidential debate that voters nationwide will be watching is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office’s history and dignity,” read a statement from the campaign. “Mr. Trump’s participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like. To be sure, Mr. Trump’s participation will contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere.”

The statement goes on to say that Trump made a mockery of the Presidency at a time when the Nation needs a strong leader more than ever, by “toying with the serious decision of whether to compete for our Nation’s highest office, a decision he appeared to make frivolous.”

Jon Huntsman has also declined publicly to participate in what his campaign called “Presidential Apprentice.”

Trump responded on TODAY Monday by calling the two “junk candidates” and vowing to run as an independent if he does not like the GOP selection.

If you weren’t certain, this should confirm any doubts that Trump is an ‘insider Republican.’ For him to call ANYONE a “trash candidate” says much about his social skills and common sense on non-critical topics. What he’d do in a crisis, I don’t know, but I am not at all impressed with him.
It won’t happen, but if the rest of the candidates would get together and do the RIGHT thing, they’d tell Trump to SHOVE the Iowa debate. And, they should also go out of their way to tell him that they can’t afford to waste their time with a TRASH moderator. WHO the _=^+ does HE think HE is? He’s about as presidential as Rahmbo.

Trump has the class of an anaconda. He is a snake oil salesman. Like I said on another post, he and Newt are turning the presidential campaign into a three-ring-circus. Wonder when Trump will appear with Ringling, Barnum and Bailey? Whenever I hear the name “Trump” I think of a huge mouth that spews nothing but idiocy. He is always seeking his 15 minutes of fame. Something must be lacking in his life to make him constantly demand all the attention. If I were running for office, I sure as heck would not attend his free-for-all. Newt and Trump are suited for each other. They both have the same mentality—me, me, me, me. Sincere? Nope. Shallow? Yes.

Any publicity for a Trump type of person is money in the bank for them.Too bad American Democracy is being inter woven with his scum bag antics and the candidates are sucking up to that piece of crap.Oh my, has he got a beautiful wife when she is all made up though.

    • http://deleted Claire

jopa!!! His wife is attractive, but her hair looks like a helmet. All stiff or something.

I herd a lil secret that newt wants to make trump vice president! could you imagine those two in the white house together?

      OMG! NOT THOSE TWO!!!

I agree with the principle of the decision. Romney isn’t attending either.

However, I think it would be wise to attend. Trump, circus ring leader though he may be, is still a celebrity. His moderation at the debate might draw viewers. With cadidates Mitt Romney and John Huntsman out of the picture, Paul would be in a debate of five candidates. That would give him more face time with a potentially large television audience.

By not attending, if Gingrich does attend, he will get a lot of additional face time to win over more voters.

I predict that this debate, if unattended by candidates like Paul and Romney, is going to give Newt a commanding lead.

    That makes me sad.

It also makes me want to start increasing the amount of amunition in storage.

Why would Paul want to be part of a boost my ego show. I can see it now, Mr Paul this question is for you. Why are you here, you have no chance of winning… Trump is nothing more than a pompous.

Claire; The Pack again this year continues to be the full Package.Just so much fun to watch and I believe Rodgers will continue to break most NFL records by a QB.

jopa–I love the Packers. I can remember the Vince Lombardi days, when my Mother would take me and my sisters back to Wisconsin to visit family. We were able to go to some games up there. I have been a Packer fan my whole life and will continue. The team is great.

Ron Paul is a brilliant man and knows better than to throw himself into a lions den which is exactly what Trump wants. What a narcissistic power hungry evil person. Any logical person can see through this newest attempt to get everyone’s attention. He is shameless and it is tragic our country would even allow such a thing to take place.

Dr. Paul was the first candidate to decline Trump’s invitation, but you wouldn’t know that by listening to the mainstream media. A Fox news reporter babbled on and on about how courageous it was for Romney to decline without mentioning that Ron Paul had paved the way for him to follow. The media is again misleading the American people regarding the facts. They are, as in 2008, ignoring the most eligible Presidential candidate this country has seen in decades. We need sites and articles like this one to truly stay informed….Vote Ron Paul 2012.

Claire;I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for my first forty years and we only had one TV channel during the Lombardi era and Bart.We were tuned into every game whether we liked it or not.I often wondered at the time why anyone even bothered to try and beat Green Bay back then.Last Sunday was great I was able to watch the Pack and the Lions.

    • http://deleted Claire

jopa–Back then my entire family lived and breathed for the Packers. And we still do. My Wisconsin relatives are die-hard Packer fans. There are quite a few Packer fans here in Illinois too. I see a lot of Packers bumper stickers.

I watched those first couple Super Bowls as well as a young, young kid :). Them was the days….oh and it looks like they be back…Old Vince is smiling in heaven.

I think the Master Deal Maker is up to something ! Donny is probably trying to make some type of deal with some Repubs where he’ll make millions of $$$. That’s probably what’s going on ….

I wonder what type of business deal is he making .. with those republican behind the scene businessmen …

I think there is a good possibility that he will come, later on, to endorsing Ron Paul. His excuse for not endorsing Ron Paul earlier will probably be ” I didn’t think he had a chance to win”.

Then after the 2012 election we might just find out what business deal he was working on, who was involved in the Republican Party, and was he successful…

Anyhow, it seems the Repubs are just sabotaging Ron Paul’s efforts ? Could that be a reason why Ron Paul’s candidacy is considered a “joke” by Mr. Trump ?

This is going to be an interesting election….

    Ron Paul for President !!!!

The only debaters Trump has left are Newt and Santorum. What’s that all about. Is Trump becoming a non factor?

  • jopa

Have to go out and get some popcorn, big debate tonight on abc. This is like the showdown at the not so OK corral. If Willard doesn’t make his move against the Newt he loses it all.CBS felt so bad about Paul’s lack of airtime they invited just him to speak on their evening news. Then we have Michelle my bell, and I am sure she will say “Because of Mr. Obama” with that voice that reminds me of nails on a blackboard.I think there may be a couple more but whom I just cannot remember at the moment.Oh alright! A guy by the name of Perry I believe is still in the running. And that other guy you should not Google to find out the meaning of Santorum.

In a debate, the moderator is supposed to be neutral. That way each side can present their ideas and the audience can decide who is the better candidate. Mr. trump is not impartial. He has appeared on TV deriding Ron Paul, calling him names and stating that Ron Paul “can’t win.” The news media, NBC-CBS-ABC-FOX, have shown their bias by ignoring Ron Paul also. I think every candidate should be given equal time and coverage so that Americans can make their own decission based on information. However, it seems that som people don’t want Americans to do their own thinking anymore.
