Paul Campaign: There Is No Paul/Romney Coordination

Paul Campaign: There Is No Paul/Romney Coordination

Ron Paul’s Presidential campaign has responded to media speculation that Paul has built an alliance with Mitt Romney and that his son, Senator Rand Paul, may be under consideration for a Romney Vice Presidential pick. The answers are no and no.

The campaign recently published a statement on its website explaining why Paul has focused attacks heavily on Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, but has had little to say about Romney:

If Republican voters are already supporting Romney then they’ve already made peace with his big government, anti-conservative record. Newt Gingrich wanted to be the anti-Romney, until conservatives could no longer ignore that Newt’s big government record wasn’t much different from Mitt’s. Santorum now wants to be the anti-Romney. The problem is Santorum is every bit the big government politician Romney is. Mr. “politics is a team sport” Santorum was literally a water carrier for the GOP establishment throughout the last decade and then some.

Speaking on MSNBC, Paul campaign advisor Doug Wead explained that Paul and Romney are polar opposites when it comes to voting records and proposals.

“There is no alliance. I mean, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are exact opposites—maybe that’s why they like each other so much,” he said.

In another statement, the campaign eliminated any speculation that Paul’s son was supporting or would consider any position in a Romney White House.

“I think the story kind of got misrepresented, because you know when I was asked, every time I’m asked these kind of questions, these are hypothetical questions, I always say you know what? I still have my first choice in the race and that’s Ron Paul. My first choice would be a Ron Paul presidency and my first choice for a position would be an unofficial adviser to a Ron Paul presidency,” said the Senator.

Laughable that the MSM continues to try and ally anything Paul with Romney. Good strategy tho. I mean, for the Romney camp to even look like it is at all aligned with Paul’s camp would seem, at least on the surface, like it may garner some votes from people on the fence that may consider Paul “unelectable”. Most of us know better. Anyone here that thinks this should look at the latest Rasmussen poll posted on Paul’s site. It has Paul ahead of Obama 43% to 41% (respectfully). Of course, you will never hear this from the MSM so we must continue to inform the world. We (the bloggers) are slowly becoming the voice that American’s are listening to. Not the MSM. Paul/Napolitano 2012.

    • Capitalist at Birth

If you believe that poll, I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell. Are you interested. Paul will NEVER be elected President.

      • Nadzieja Batki

        And you know this How?

      • Steve E

He will get elected if the people vote for him. That’s how you win an election. Someone can say that he is unelectable, but the only people who are unelectable are the people who are not on the ballot. All the canadates on the ballot are electable.

      • harleydavidson

Capitalist, it sounds to me that you are simply “parroting” the talking point of the media, the lobbyists, the war mongers, and the big republican boys. Please tell us why you do not like Ron Paul in your own words.

      • http://none Milos Leubner

All he needs to be elected is to get votes of people who are cowards wishing that there was a way for him to be elected .You can bring a horse to the water but can’t make him to drink

      • http://none Milos Leubner

you do have a beach property in arizona – except that the water is still underground

      • Vigilant

Too many Libertarians place an inordinate faith in the power of just one man (then again, almost any political partisan feels the same way). While presidents are always complimented/condemned for their actions, most fail to see that the composition of the Congress and SCOTUS largely determines the direction of the country.

A Ron Paul presidency would most likely result in government gridlock like we’ve never seen, unless a majority of like-minded pols would be elected in November, and that’s a long shot. I would foresee a government by veto which would accomplish nothing.

On December 28th, John Myers said “My hope is that Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination and the Presidency, but I don’t think he has a realistic chance.”

On December 30th, Chip Wood said “Polls continue to show that 45 percent of voters will vote for anyone other than Obama. (Count me among them).”

Both of them have valid points.

It struck me that the real benefit of having Dr. Paul around has been to channel the political conversation in the right direction. Given the likely Republican candidate for president, I don’t foresee all that much change in the way America conducts its business, regardless of the winner. But at the same time, Dr. Paul has elevated the consciousness of the public to the real dangers of the status quo. We can only hope that support will gain with time, although I suspect such support would be forthcoming only when the economic situation becomes so untenable that the nation would be ready for such drastic measures.

      • TML

Capitalist at Birth says, “Paul will NEVER be elected President”

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually the people will believe you.” – Adolf Hitler

      • TML

Vigilant says, “A Ron Paul presidency would most likely result in government gridlock like we’ve never seen… I would foresee a government by veto which would accomplish nothing.”

I don’t know… I’m sure it would with a great many things, which I think would be a good thing… to stop government in it’s tracks from getting bigger. Yet, even most people who don’t like Ron Paul agree with his domestic monetary policies, so we could reasonably expect to see changes there led by Paul… and we sure wouldn’t be having a president who unilaterally involves us in unjustified wars.

      • Vigilant

Good point, TML, but I would fear that those same Repubs who rail against Obama’s budget-busting policies would change their tune and vote against a Ron Paul budget that would make such draconian (though badly needed) cuts. We’ve already seen how they didn’t have enough guts to go for the automatic spending cuts mandated by the failure to come up with a compromise.

I’m afraid the real task is not to change the minds of Democrats (which is a futile thing anyway), the challenge would be to alter the mindset of Republicans.

You would make him vice president I can’t think of a worse VP except Hillary the Dike Commie.

    • Nadzieja Batki

You can’t seem to not want to control what is said by other people.

  • hambone

I didn’t think that Ron Paul would do that.

  • Bett in FL

Ron Paul would never be part of a campaign that is clueless to the immediate halt needed to stop the economic bubble from bursting. Clueless to Agenda 21 here in US to overtake the constitution w/It’l law. Clueless to sucking us into the EU. More important the need for our troops to be on the home front to rid USA of terrorist camps training and operating on US Soil. Why would he want to be part of staying on the titanic heading to the iceberg which is where we are at and our LAST President if he does not get in and reverse all UNCONSTITUTIONAL laws and Executive Orders! He is trying to save and restore America and laughed at? The others agendas are to continue using the broken machine vs repair it! Why is America blind to the truth and wanting to believe the lies. As for VP, my guess is he needs more votes and the only one I thought would be great was Bachman who was for the Constitution but we need her in Congress, just a thought.

    • T i m

ACCORDING TO THE MEDIA , ( who you wana listen to ) , BACHMANN TOOK SUBSIDY MONEY FOR THE FAMILY FARM , YEARS AGO ….STUFF SHE IS FIGHTING AGAINST NOW . ……..WHO YOU WANA LISTEN TO . BACHMANN AND PAUL ARE POLES APART ON FOREIGN POLICY. …BEING A VETERAN , I AGREE WITH DR. PAUL , BRING OUR TROOPS HOME, WE CAN PROTECT OUR BORDERS FROM RIGHT WHERE WE STAND , GET RID OF COMMERCE DEPARTMENT , THAT WILL STOP INFLATION , GAS PRICE AT THE PUMP . GAS PRICE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WORLD EVENTS . IT IS ALL AMERICAN COMMERCE DEPARTMENT SETTING THE RATE S. My name is T i m

  • Sirian

This is nothing more than another good example of just how much trust you can place into the MSM anymore. Basically – NONE!!!

  • s c

Paul has way too much credibility to lower himself to being associated with Mutt. Mutt has voluntarily chugged the KruelAde and submitted to that damned utopian programming. Oil and water would have better odds “combining.”
Maybe Mutt should think about Obummer as a running mate (works BOTH ways, doesn’t it?).

I think Mitt Romney pushers are trying to ride on the Paul coat tail name…if you know what I mean.

I would like to see Mitt Romney and Rand Paul vs Barack Obama and Maxine Waters. It would be a classic contest between those who earn their living vs Afirmitave Action’s allstars.

  • http://shellgames.weebly.com/ Gary

Thanks for another good laugh, MSM. I don’t watch your cluelessness anymore, and I fell out of my chair on this one

  • billee

Then how come there are 39 instances of RP attacking all other candidates and not one attack on Romney? He’s cut a deal, there’s no other explanation.

    • Capitalist at Birth

Either that, or he is a chicken sh*#.

As this site is obviously attempting to aid the Paul campaign, I take anything written here with a hundred grains of salt. Pure blind stupidity.

    • Average Joe

“I take anything written here with a hundred grains of salt. Pure blind stupidity.”

Finally, I can agree with you…you are definitely being blindly stupid…….

      Ron Paul/ Andrew Napolitano 2012!!!

      • John_LA

It could be worse than you thought. I assumed he meant Janet Napolitano.

      • Earl, QUEENS, NY

These delusional Ron Paul supporters are such wishful thinkers!! He’s unelectable!! He can’t seem to get more than 10% of the votes in any primary. However, it is important to consider that that 10% could make a difference if this old crackpot Paul runs as a third party spoiler. He WILL lose!! And he could easily take away enough votes from the GOP to get BHO re-elected. Is that what these pro-MoRon Paul idiots really want????? I understand people’s frustrations with the GOP establishment, RINOs and moderate GOP wimps. But the solution is not a nincompoop like MoRon Paul. What we need is to repeat 1980 and 1984, when a bold outspoken conservative takes control of the party, wins two landslides, and is a success. Why repeat the mistakes of 1976, 1996 and 2008?? GET REAL!!

    • Deerinwater

True, they are. ~ and for good reason, finding the options dismal would be kind.

But a gain of salt, in the right place can make itself known and appear a mountain of grief.

      What concern me most is;

      1. What Ron Paul might be hiding, as clearly the Tea Party hides it’s intention to install God into government by force! It’s said that Ron Paul is the father of this Tea Party, while I think that it might have grown into something he might not approve of.

      2. Opposition to a Ron Paul administration “plans” would met with heavy resistance for both parties, offering stalling gridlock.

      3. Would we call a repeat the last 4 years, of a stone walled, dead in the water government, good government?

      4. Time! Ron Paul only has the time to start these changes, they would be finished by someone else.

Now, to the points of your comment.

You write: “YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT HERE . THERE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE , IS DEFINITLY ENDORSING RON PAUL.” You are correct.

You write: “BOB LIVINGSTON IS PERSONAL FREIND OF RON PAUL .” You are incorrect, though I would be honored to be such.

You write: “RON PAUL OWNS PERSONAL LIBERTY BLOG.” Nonsense and poppycock.

Ron Paul has my continued support. I will be voting for him… regardless of who the “establishment” candidate happens to be. A vote for any of the others …is a vote for more of the same (whether Obama or any of the other three Republian candidates), or worse.

  • Steve E

If Ron Paul does not get elected, it is simply because the people do not value the whole Constitution. They will get what they deserve (the same old thing).

Romney can’t beat Obama and everybody in the Republican hierarchy knows it. There is way too much Bain stink on him for any Democrat to cross over an vote for him. Karen Kwiatkowski has an interesting theory. The Republican elites are willing to lose this campaign in order to give them more time to corral the Tea Party types.

I live in Arizona, and today I went to vote. I showed up to find out I wasn’t on the list. I was sent to a table where I was told i’m a green party. I’m a conservitive, I use to consider my self a Republican but lately i have been calling my self a tea partier. Now on my voter ID card it says by party PND, party not determined. Now as the green party I was given a ballot I went to the booth open the ballot and there were about 6 names that I never heard of. I went back and said what is this I want to vote for ron paul, Mitt Romney ect. So I was given a completely differant ballot, and i voted. when i got home I called the number on my voter reciept. I spoke to a women, and i got the feeling that because i didn’t have republican as my party my vote was not going to be casted. I’m more confussed now. Can you help me figure out if my vote is even going to count when it comes time to make it count.

same old Political crap, The Powers to Be will decide who Runs and who gets Elected.
Is there any chance in this Country that a Good Man will ever run for this Office or any other Congress Office, Or State Office. You have to have MONEY behind You. So that Leaves out any hard working Poor Americans, That really care about this Country or its People.
The Americans need to Find a real American, And support him to the Death, But this will not happen, Because we have been Brainwashed for to many years.
The Media gets Most of your Donated and Matching tax Dollars, So who are we to believe, Who can we trust, Not the Politicians, Not the Media, Once the media could TELL the TRUTH when they were supported by the People, But today the Media is supported by Big Business, And Protected by Govt.
WHO controls the Money,Food, and the Water, in this World will Control all the Peoples.
Just Look at the PEOPLE who are controlling these resources, and you will see who the Enemy really is.
Ron Paul Just might be this Man But im not sure, Why because my many years have taught me that they all be long to the same Club.
Also what bothers me Is Rons Son, A congressman, Is this just anoughter political family that wants to get more power and riches off the American People OR ???.

  • ranger hall

Is there an honest hard working American out there that believes in this Country and its People, And would really put the Country and its People ahead of Money and Power.Sure there is a lot, BUT it will never Happen.never has and never will.

  • ranger hall

I should mention that a Real honest person that believes in his words DO not Compromise.
Politicians Will always compromise when it will improve their individual position, And it will have nothing to do with the Betterment of the Country or its People Just themselves.
    Now we wait and SEE.
IF Ron Paul is Honest and really cares, I sure would like to see him elected, Then we could see how things really work in this Country.

If Fox News, Sean Hannidy, Rush Limbaugh, CNBC, ABC,CBS, NBC, O’Rielly, et al, are against someone, then you must ask why and then you will realize you are on the right track supporting that person.

BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT SUPPORT RACISTS!!!

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA2ehvB-_Ac

Your citing the 1980′s when racism was still sticking it’s ugly head out of the sand and as a matter of fact, it was also a time when people had a right to speak their minds and news papers, publications or books could not be censored nor omitted regardless of their opinions.. Times have changed (from 20+ years ago) and now no one tolerates these ideals (and rightfully so) yet to smear a man, a man who has been staunch on his ideals, you resort back to a time when most EVERYONE was a bigot in their own right.. Come back to the future (present) and look at the choices forced upon you and the choices they try to condemn.. Now YOU decide. My decision? Ron Paul 2012 and.. (you’re the racist gfsomsel because of your very accusation).

    • Mark in LA

racist, racist, racist, blah, blah, blah get new material, this is getting old and tired. Got any real evidence of something Paul DID that was based on race only and negatively affected somebodies life? I didn’t think so.

While Netflix has some excellent documentaries, under political documentaries is a must see. Media Malpractice. Just one example is how cruel they were to Sarah Palin. As for Ron Paul, some read the quotes and warnings from our founders then compare them to what Ron Paul has been saying for twenty years. At least three White House advisors and officials, including President Obama’s regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, have ties to an effort funded by George Soros to push for a new “progressive” U.S. Constitution Attorney General Eric Holder sat on the board of a George Soros – funded doctrine, pushing the same “progressive” Constitution. Image a new Bill of Rights that would be determined by congress. I sometimes wonder if some people realize how much time and effort was put into our Constitution by our founders? Thomas Jefferson said, ‘…let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution. The willful dis-reguard of the Constitution by the creation of the Federal Reserve and FDR’s New deal and the Super congress because Congress failed in their responsibility is only a few of the many ways the Constitution is being dismantled. The Obama administration has ignored the Constitution in more 16 instances. The September 2011 publication of whistleblower should be read by everyone who considers himself or herself a patriot. THE PLOT TO DESTROY THE CONSTITUTION.

Ron Paul in 2003 Part of what he said in One of his bills that did not pass.Despite the long-term damage to the economy inflicted by the government’s interference in the housing market, the government’s policy of diverting capital to other uses creates a short-term boom in housing. Like all artificially-created bubbles, the boom in housing prices cannot last forever. When housing prices fall, homeowners will experience difficulty as their equity is wiped out. Furthermore, the holders of the mortgage debt will also have a loss. These losses will be greater than they would have otherwise been had government policy not actively encouraged over-investment in housing.Perhaps the Federal Reserve can stave off the day of reckoning by purchasing GSE debt and pumping liquidity into the housing market, but this cannot hold off the inevitable drop in the housing market forever. In fact, postponing the necessary, but painful market corrections will only deepen the inevitable fall. The more people invested in the market, the greater the effects across the economy when the bubble bursts.

As is probably true with lots of people , the bank was not the problem with loosing my house . I lost my home , because i lost my job . I lost 2 decent jobs back to back , in about 5 years . 1 st to corporate bankruptcy , other to immigration take over. Every one is blaming the banks for every ones housing problems , and lots is probaly correct. Few people are talking about corporate bankruptcy taking jobs . I WAS paying my bills , till I lost my job . Mr. Obama asked the COMMERCE DEPARTMENT SECRETARY , 1 st of past summer , what to do about jobs. I could not understand the confusion in this ..President asking the commerce secretary on world news , what to do about jobs. i did not hear an answer . …There is a simple solution to AMERICAN economy . You are wearing it . Corporate bankruptcy took my job . Congress , outlaw corporate bankruptcy . John Edwards tried to do this last election . You saw what happened with that . Ron Paul wants to get rid of commerc department . Newt Gingrich wants to stop importing oil , get gas price near $ 2 . 5 0 per gallon . Should be closer to 1 . 0 0 per gallon . There was no oil shortage in the 7 0 ‘s. I was riding the boat , when congress declared a shortage , Carter signed it . T i m .
