One Portion-Controlled Meal Per Day May Lead To Weight Loss

September 5, 2011 by

One Portion-Controlled Meal Per Day May Lead To Weight LossA diet does not have to involve a drastic overhaul of eating habits, as new research reveals that just one portion-controlled meal daily can make a big difference in weight loss over a year.

In a study, a team of scientists at Cornell University found that eating a reduced-calorie lunch may result in a 25-pound weight loss over the course of a year. Moreover, subjects in the study ate about 250 fewer calories daily, but didn’t feel hungry or overeat later in the day.

“Making small reductions in energy intake to compensate for the increasing number of calories available in our food environment may help prevent further weight gain, and one way of doing this could be to consume portion-controlled lunches a few times a week,” said co-author Carly Pacanowski.

Authors of the study noted that their finding that the body doesn’t notice small calorie reductions is significant because it may point to a simple, inexpensive method of weight loss. Additionally, the idea of losing body fat can be a daunting one for some individuals, but this research suggests that it may be a simple matter of tweaking daily routines.

I stopped eating dinner altogether because when I get in from work I’m so tired I go straight to bed after taking care of my son’s needs. In doing so, I started to pick up weight.

You should be careful, fellow patriot. If we miss meals, we can pick up weight by eating more at the next meal. The body has a defense against becomming too thin. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

If done on a daily basis your body will adapt to the reduced calories in about 10 days. If you are eating the right foods you don’t have to count calories.
