Oklahoma Governor To Resist ‘Obamacare’

August 23, 2011 by

Fallin has noted that she and several other GOP governors are waiting for the current healthcare law to be appealed, and possibly overturned by the Supreme Court.Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has rejected the multimillion-dollar Federal grant that comes with the acceptance of the Federal Health Plan, as she noted that accepting the money would lead to entangling regulations, The Washington Times reported.

The Governor decided to turn down the $54 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Services, noting that the move would allow Oklahoma to bypass a Federal exchange when the State sets up a system that would be governed by the private sector, according to the newspaper.

“You just told us you want us to have some leeway to develop innovative systems, but yet you’re tying our hands,” Fallin said during a meeting with officials in the Administration of President Barack Obama. “In the end, they’re going to have specific things we have to meet.”

Fallin has noted that she and several other GOP governors are waiting for the current healthcare law to be appealed, and possibly overturned by the Supreme Court, reported the Times.

While she has refused Federal funds for healthcare, Fallin has noted that the cuts that have been made in the recent weeks will negatively affect her State. Oklahoma may be severely hampered by the lack of money that has been designated for highway programs and education, according to Bloomberg.

Good for her! It is time all of our states quit accepting money that will restrict the states ability to take care of the people. Sure, it will make it tougher on some of the state residents, but we will see some very difficult times for everyone in the next 2-3 years! At least Oklahoma people can hold their head up high and not give in to political pressure.

She is right not to spend her time and money on Obamacare…because when we kick the Demorats out of the Senate and White House, the first item on the agenda is to repeal this monstrosity that will economically kill America. If we are having trouble sustaining Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, how in the heck do the Demorats think we can pay for another 12 million (legal and illegals) to be put into the Medicaid program. All of these programs need to be revamped and Medicaid the most…it is time for these people to have to pass a drug test before receiving their checks….anyone who CAN work needs to be in class to learn how to make a living and after two years they are off the taxpayer teet. Young girls who have 10 babies by 10 different guys will no longer be able to receive benefits…we start deducting after the first child…take birth control pills. Medicaid was originally set up to help the very poor and mostly the poor elderly….it has turned into a life style for some and this needs to stop. Medicare will be broke in 6 to 9 years and social security is in the same shape. People wake up…if these programs do not get overhauled like the Republicans have been saying….if you continue to listen to the Demorats…the day will come in the not to far future, when the checks will stop rolling….it is going to happen….just a matter of when.

If all fifty (excuse me, fifty-seven)states had governors like this, we might return to a country ‘of the people, by the people and for the people’…rather than ‘of the government, by the government and for the government’! God help America!

    • karel Eekels

Many of us “we the people” inside and outside your state are very proud FOR you and proud of you Governor Fallin, I praise you. You did not “fall” for a bribe of our so elite government leaders and send them a clear message. Let your colleagues in the other states do the same thing.

      • Morduin00

Good comment. The only word I would change is bribe to blackmail. The fed is blackmailing states into accepting health care money on the threat that, if they don’t accept it, they will lose other, non-related funding.

Time for 546 (435 reps, 100 senator, 9 justices, 1 pres and 1 vp) to go to jail.

This lady has guts more than the corrupted officals in Washington.

If Fallin believes that is best for her state then the citizens of Oklahoma will have to live with her decision. Rick Perry was totally against taking stimulus money until he realized his state would have big problems if he didn’t so he took it. Some decisions turn out to be correct politically and some don’t. The Affordable Healthcare Act has had a negligible effect on the cost of health care in America. Since most of the increases occurred a few years back. Unitedhealthcare has 75 million customers and Wellpoint (Blue Cross) has 34 million customers and are doing fine after those big rate increases they gave themselves. Both companies are now apart of the Affordable Healthcare Act and aren’t discouraged by this new system.Maybe all they see are $ signs or business as usual or maybe it will all work out in the end. As it stands now we don’t have the best health care system in the world only the most expensive.

I guess that’s more of a reason NOT to vote for Perry

good for u gov. every state should throw this crap in obama face,
the worst criminal president in american history.
his days are short, time is almost over for this thug liar.

    • Lost in Paradise

Ed, I would not be too sure about OBama not being re-elected. I sincerely hope he is not, but when you consider the large scale of liberal thinking in this country,he just might get another term. God help us all!

      • Joey Biden

God help us all is right. He has done so much damage to this country so far, think what another 4 years would be like.

      • 45caliber

What I’m afraid of is that he is counting on his SEIU friends to make sure the computer voting machines are programmed to make sure he wins – just like they did for Reid and Pelousy.

      ED FOUTS:

If you check Revelations, it says the anti-Christ will rule for 7 years and will then be kicked to Hell. He will release a serious of disasters in two phases – and the second will be far worse than the first. It will include raining fire from heaven (I think they call that nuclear weapons now.) So I would say he will be reelected and about the third year of that he will be finally kicked out of office. We shall see…

I can think of another way.

  • No fool

You go girl. The $54 million is nothing but a bribe with a major built in booby trap. BOzo knows his healthcare is full of crap and he’s banking on greedy mindless states to take the bait.

    • 45caliber

      I totally agree with you.

    • Christin

      No fool,

      Me, too!

      Oklahoma you rock!
      Keep up the ‘good’ fight.

Now the rest of our state governors need to do the same… mine’s out campaigning for pres… ho, hum… until the Conservatives can REPEAL or DEFUND obummercare.

  • 45caliber

If her move will also prevent the feds from taxing anyone in OK to pay for Oblamacare, then I’m in favor of EVERY state, including TX, doing the same thing.

    • exbobbie

Hi 45, I agree with you, unfortunately I live in LaLaLand and you know that this will not happen on the left coast, shame is I came 6000 miles to get away from socialism and social health care, which both suck, seems it,s followed me here, SORRY FOLKS!.

  • s c

It’s so refreshing to learn that we still have leaders who aren’t gleefully sucking up to Opraisemebama and his lunatic band of braindeads. Go Oklahoma!
It will be interesting to see how many other leaders in the ‘other 56 states’ will see through Oimagod and tell him what he can do with his perverted, bankrupting ‘transformation’ schemes.

This is what is called ‘cutting off your nose to spite your face.’
