DAYTON, Ohio, Aug. 19 (UPI) — An Ohio man is accused of killing his sister, who helped send him to jail on bank fraud charges, police say.
Montgomery County sheriff’s arrested Zachary Burba, 39, Wednesday for allegedly killing his sister with a single gunshot to the head, three weeks after he was released from federal prison, the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News reported.
Valerie Burba, 41, was found dead Tuesday in a vacant house she owned with her brother just outside of Dayton. Investigators said she was likely killed Saturday.
Valeria Burba reported her brother to state and federal officials for forging her signature on documents to receive a home equity loan. Zachary Burba was convicted in 2008 and sentenced to 51 month in prison for two counts of bank fraud.
“That’s a good motive,” Sheriff Phil Plummer said. “He was always fighting … A problem child.”
Plummer said Zachary Burba was known throughout the area by law enforcement for a history of violence, drugs and domestic abuse. Police had been called multiple times to the house owned by the siblings on domestic violence.
