President Barack Obama’s campaign-organization-turned-personal-agenda-juggernaut, Organizing for Action, is set to spend August attacking American citizens and lawmakers who dare question the President’s climate change beliefs, his healthcare overhaul effort, immigration reform or readily available abortion.
In an email, OFA encouraged supporters to support “Action August” by demonizing lawmakers and Americans who disagree with the President. The main targets, according to the email, are people who tell Obamacare “lies,” “climate deniers” who resist global warming rules and foes of immigration reform and abortion.
The President’s agenda-pushers have set aside the following days of action for August:
- Aug. 4: Obamacare Day of Action.
- Aug. 5: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Day of Action.
- Aug. 13: Climate Change Day of Action.
- Aug. 21: Gun Violence Prevention Day of Action.
- Aug. 31: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Day of Action.
The organizers say the month provides an opportunity to speak directly with lawmakers during summer recess, to encourage compliance with Obama efforts.
“While lawmakers are home for congressional recess, thousands of supporters will be holding events in key districts across the country,” the email says.
“It’s all about making sure members of Congress hear directly from the people they represent, on the issues that matter to all of us.”
The email continues, advising supporters who they should target:
OFA supporters will be telling the truth about Obamacare, fighting the outright lies about what health care reform means for ordinary Americans.
We’ll be calling out the climate deniers who are standing in the way of progress in Washington, and make sure the senators who hold the key votes on gun violence prevention hear from the people who sent them to Congress.
And we’ll be fighting attacks on a woman’s health choices wherever they pop up.
OFA, a section 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organization, raises and spends money to support Obama’s policy agenda. In its latest financial reports, the organization reported raising $8.2 million in funding for the second quarter of 2012.
“In just our second quarter, OFA more than doubled the number of donors that have stepped up and taken ownership of the future of this organization,” an OFA official said in a statement. “98 percent of OFA’s contributors have been from small dollar donations with an average contribution of $55 making this truly a grassroots funded operation.”
Huffington Post offers a look at who OFA’s major donors are:
The biggest contributors in the second quarter were well-known Democratic donors, many of whom previously gave to Priorities USA Action, the super PAC backing Obama’s reelection. Fred Eychaner, CEO of Newsweb and one of the biggest Obama super PAC donors of 2012, gave $500,000 to OFA, as did hedge fund founder David Shaw, another Obama super PAC donor. Environmental activist and New York real estate heiress Amy Goldman gave $250,000. OFA’s other six-figure donors included Diamond Resorts’ Stephen Cloobeck, McAfee’s Kenneth Levine, liberal philanthropists William and Judith Scheide, and LGBT activist Jon Stryker.
For conservatives, August looks like it could be a very irritating month as they face a well-funded liberal policy blitzkrieg that is sure to be heralded by the mainstream media in ways of which Tea Party activists could only dream.
