Obama’s Ultimate Betrayal

January 12, 2011 by

Obama’s Ultimate Betrayal

Welcome to 2011; another year for President Barack Obama, whose energy policies are dictated not from the White House but from Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Obama’s Christmas gift to the nation was the December announcement by the President himself to clamp down further on domestic oil and gas drilling. Welcome to the New Year where pump prices now average more than $3 per gallon.

Despite the worst recession since the Great Depression, we are paying the highest gas prices since 2008. All thanks to Obama’s need to go Green, which is enriching Arab oil producers while putting America’s future at risk.

Obama regulators have been busy slipping in ill-advised energy policies. First came the pre-Thanksgiving announcement that oil exploration and drilling in Alaska would be curtailed. All for a good cause, said the Obamaites, to help save vast expanses of polar bear habitat. Then Obama’s Department of the Interior made a pre-Christmas policy change that would further cut domestic oil supplies by making energy-rich lands untouchable.

It seems that Obama forgot that designating Federal lands as wilderness areas was supposed to require an act of Congress. Yet the day before Christmas Eve, Obama’s Department of the Interior did a coup d’état. As a result, the Obama administration alone is able to judge where oil can or cannot be drilled. In doing this, Obama has thwarted George W. Bush’s policy that restricted unilateral action by the White House.

Then there is the drilling in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico. Nearly three months after the Obama administration lifted its ban, oil companies are still waiting for approval to drill the first new oil well in the Gulf. In fact, the petroleum industry expects the wait to continue until the second half of 2011, and perhaps well into 2012.

This long delay by the Obama administration is costing Big Oil billions of dollars that they have tied up in Gulf projects; projects that are now on hold while petroleum companies pay out thousands of dollars every day on rigs that stand idle.

Last week the Wall Street Journal wrote this indictment of Obama’ energy policy:

“Their impact goes beyond the oil industry. The Gulf coast economy has been hit hard by the slowdown in drilling activity, especially because the oil spill also hurt the region’s fishing and tourism industries. The Obama administration in September estimated that 8,000 to 12,000 workers could lose their jobs temporarily as a result of the moratorium; some independent estimates have been much higher.

“The slowdown also has long-term implications for U.S. oil production. The Energy Information Administration, the research arm of the Department of Energy, last month predicted that domestic offshore oil production will fall 13 percent this year from 2010 due to the moratorium and the slow return to drilling; a year ago, the agency predicted offshore production would rise 6 percent in 2011. The difference: A loss of about 220,000 barrels of oil a day.”

All of which leaves America more susceptible to an Arab oil embargo. The last one happened in the 1970s when the U.S. was pumping twice as much oil as it is now.

With the U.S. gulping more foreign crude than ever, Arabs could bring America to its knees. You would think that a President as smart as Obama would understand the risk he is putting the nation in; a nation which he has sworn to protect.

Perhaps the greatest waste of American resources is out West where there is potentially hundreds of millions of barrels in oil reserves and trillions of cubic feet in gas deposits; all of it just waiting to be drilled and pumped to a thirsting nation. Yet our President is obstructing America from meeting its energy needs.

Ben Lieberman of The Washington Times explains:

“Utah is particularly hard hit, with up to 6 million acres in jeopardy of being locked away from development. Rep. Rob Bishop, Utah Republican, told The Salt Lake Tribune, “[This decision will seriously hinder domestic energy development and further contribute to the uncertainty and economic distress that continues to prevent the creation of new jobs in a region that has unduly suffered from this administration’s radical policies.”

But there is more. Two days before Christmas the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) undertook a Pearl Harbor-like pre-emptive attack on U.S. refiners with an order that will place severe limits on carbon-dioxide emissions. The EPA, in language Joseph Stalin would have been proud of, said: “The details have yet to be determined.”

The Moroccan Candidate
The bottom-line is that under Obama, Washington is certain to increase the cost of converting oil into gasoline. If you are looking forward to spending $5 per gallon at the pumps, you will love Obama’s bold new move to make America more green.

The $5 per gallon is not just a number I picked out of the air. The former president of Shell Oil says that’s entirely possible as high demand pushes the price of crude oil higher and higher.

Culminating some time by the third quarter of 2012, retail pump prices in places like California and New York will reach roughly $5 per gallon, said former Shell Oil president John Hofmeister.

Former energy secretary Bill Richardson was asked about Hofmeister’s stark prediction: “I hope he’s wrong, but this is a very volatile energy market and we haven’t moved as fast as we should in America towards reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.”

Hofmeister underscores the urgent need to develop domestic oil production and he even accuses the Obama administration of being anti-oil.

“I have no problem moving beyond oil but not today, not tomorrow, not 2011 or 2012. We can’t. It’s simply impractical and unreal,” Hofmeister said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Energy (DOE) has put out a statement saying it will continue to pursue responsible oil and gas production while focusing on vehicle efficiency standards and investing in electric vehicles, bio-fuels and mass transit.

Obama’s DOE must think America alone can make the Earth green. What the President seems to forget is the fact that China, India and Russia, along with a host of Third World polluters, are using coal and even wood furnaces to drive their industries.

It appears to me that Obama’s Green policies are nothing more than collateral damage to a nation that needs domestic petroleum and the jobs that that industry provides. Instead Obama’s policies seem to be helping Arab oil exporters.

If you think I exaggerate, consider this from the Dec. 29 Economist, not known as a bastion of conservative ideals: “Mr Obama’s team of managing the Middle East is even more inept than Mr Bush’s. The American right and many Israelis think he is too pro-Arab.”

Dubya Billboard: “MISS ME YET?”
People in the petroleum industry don’t believe Obama is pro-North America, at least not when it comes to energy. Canada’s oil sands — which help keep America on the road every day—have been labeled “dirty oil” by Obama Democrats (as if the crude they pump out of the Saudi desert was somehow clean). And given the political realities that exist in many parts of Alaska, Sarah Palin has a greater chance of hitting a gusher with an errant shot from her AR-15 than Big Oil has with a drill-bit.

Despite Bush’s multiple mistakes in the Middle East, he was a patriot who at least wanted to ramp up domestic oil and gas production. That’s not true of Obama, who seems intent on increasing America’s dependency on Arab oil.

As I write to you, oil has topped $90 per barrel. I believe that by summer it will break over $100 per barrel. That makes Big Oil a good investment. But at what cost?

Under Obama’s presidency we are headed for an energy crisis worse than anything President Jimmy Carter could have engineered. Just how high oil prices will go I don’t know. Much depends on what happens in the 2012 election.

Yours in good times and bad,

WHERE WILL YOU WHEN BUSH WAS LETTING THE OIL COMPANIES CHARGE 4.00 DOLLARS A GALLON? NEVER HEARD A PEEP OUT OF YOU ABOUT THIS.OR LETTING THE BANKS A CREDIT CARD COMPANIES SCREW EVERYONE. BUSH LWT THEM GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING

    • Eddie

Stop blaming Bush. Obummer is killing our country and economy.

      • herman richardson

idiot bush signed the first bail out check, oh how fast you forget, guess you are getting your CHECK

        • mar

I am so tired of hearing that everything is Bush’s fault. Time to fix what Bush did wrong and move on. After two years, Obama should be able to stand on his actions instead he keeps driving the car off the cliff and into the Grand Canyon. We should be able to learn from the mistakes of the past and take a path that corrects them.

          • Mike In MI

Just in case everybody forgot let’s remember that all this stupidity about using too much oil was all started because the entire left was jumping into the abyss of “global warming” nonsense. Well, the official marxist spokesman for global warming – Al Gore – officially reversed his position and has decided the earth is “cooling down”. So, let’s all start screaming that we’re freezing and need gas and oil in abundance to get the atmosphere heating up again.
By jingoes it is a wonder how the earth ever made it this far without the power of man to manipulate the temperature of the universe on a moment’s notice.
Either we get rid of the dictator in the WH or he’ll soon be getting rid of us by Executive Directive. Where are the checks ad balances this government is supposed to run by?

            mar,

I’m with you. It is useless to continue to lay blame because it solves nothing ! At this point in time I don’t care who did what, all I care is how do we fix this mess before this country is completely lost. Is it benefiting this country and jobs to continue the moritorium on drilling? How many jobs do we have to give up before someone realizes that to wipe out energy producing jobs and space jobs that pay a real good living and replace them with jos at McDonalds and raking pine straw just isn’t getting it! I hear all this talk about going green and doing the solar pannel thing and how great it is but my husband and I looked into it quite some time ago and it isn’t all it is cracked up to be if you are in the low income bracket. The pannels are very expensive and we were told it would take 20 or more years to recoup our investment. Then there are the batteries that you have to buy and replace every so often and they are not cheap by any means, plus they have a disposal problem. Once we have the house all converted to solar then we have to buy special appliances and the list goes on. I wonder if Obama is going to pay for all this and if he is where is he going to get all the money to do it? All these new so called electric cars that we are suppose to be able to buy and drive around for our needs are electric in town but if you need to drive out on the open road you have to go with the gas! If you have to drive on the open road often like most of us you are not saving anything. I think we should keep improving the green industry but you can’t just stop using oil or even cut back until you have the stuff to replace it at a reasonable price. How do you convert the getto over to solar? Who is going to pay for it and will it even work. Then while all this is getting done how do you continue to take care of the people effected by all the stages of transformation? Someone needs to come up with a good working plan and stop all this big talk ! By the way I understand the majority of solar panels made reasonable today are made in China and not the US. Sure doesn’t sound like a way to creat jobs to me . Well let me take that back, it will creat jobs for China but not for the US !

Mar, you forgot real fast when Bush went in he had a surplus when he went out we were in debt up to our ears,Obama has worked wonders even though the g o p . has done nothing but hinder him in everything he has tried to accomplish they only want thebig moneyed to get everything when allthe time they were talking about this big deficit. They want Obama to be a1 year presdent out of their own mouths this was told by oconnel and he meant it , he should be ashamed of himself. without Obama they would be in a bigger mess, they do NOT think of you and me only the moneyfor their big business and theirjobs that are shipped out of state so the jobs here are overseas where labour is cheap and the unemployment here is not helped one little bit.

hey herman read this OBAMA IS A COMMUNIST BUM!!!>

          • herman richardson

yes he and all of the rest of them are. we need to clean house, remember 1776-might be a good idea again

          • michelleo

Yes Clarence Whiney, and Obama TRIPPLED the National debt but I guess that was alrigth right?

          • michelleo

YIKES, SORRY FOR THE BAD SPELLING :)

          • AJGS

Obama wants to run again in 2012. He shouldn’t be allowed to run. Anyone who doesn’t uphold the constitution shouldn’t be president. He has obviously stepped on the constitution and the American people.
He should not only be impeached but fired from office along with his colleagues. Lets get our country back.

          • Mike In MI

            AJGS -
Absolutely right. The first of the treason charges against him in his impeachment should be breach of his vows to uphold and protect the Constitution and the second, third, fourth and fifth should be proposing, arguing for and signing legislation that attacks, contravenes and attempts to nullify elements of the Constitution of the United States of America. Or, maybe we should just require Congress to do what they should have done at the outset two years ago – make Obumbler prove his eligibilty for the office. Since it has never been done (and it seems the Supreme Court is being blocked by two Obama appointees who refuse to recuse themselves, in spite of obvious conflicts of interest – Sotomaior and ellen ???Snitschzelsucher) now is not too late a date…like tomorrow!!!

          • Granny Mae

            Mike In Mich

I agree. I wonder if it will really happen though? He is already ramping up his campaign for 2012. Everything is going in motion and congress is so preocupied with the health care bill and so many other things I doubt they will even consider it and Obama is taking advantage of the distraction. Our side needs to be working just as hard right now but I can see they don’t have the funds and I’m wondering if they have anyone that can stand up to the Obama snow job ! I know of several people I might like but I don’t know if they can out do the Obama snow and it is coming soon !

          • Mike In MI

            Well, Granny Mae,
There’s one thing I know we as God and America loving people can do – volunteer to get out and talk. Don’t argue, spit and spout. Take a jar of honey and tell people about the good that can be done by putting better folks in office. Slather them with your sweetness and volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. If they jump at you and attack like Cris Matthews did on Rush and Savage just move on. Bless them and move on.
That can’t cost too much to the people you support and do it expecting to paint the map blue.

        • bobby walker

YOU WANT THE REAL REASON THIS COUNTRY IS IN TROUBLE; ITS THE EPA. WE COULD BE PAYING 50 CENTS A GALLON FOR GAS AND NEVER DEAL WITH OPEC AGAIN. THERE IS MORE OIL UNDER THIS COUNTRY THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD PUT TOGETHER. YET NO ONE WILL MAKE IT PUBLIC TO US, AMERICANS. DRILLING DOES NOT HURT THE COUNTRYSIDE. I LIVE IN AN OILFIELD AREA AND THE ANIMALS, (ALL OT THEM NEED THINNING OUT, ESPECIALY THE DEER) AND THERE ARE HUNTERS A PLENTY AROUND HERE. THE GROUND WATER IS FINE AND THE DRILLING AROUND HERE STARTED IN THE LATE 30′S. READ WHAT IM ADDING TO HIS COMMENT AND CHECK IT OUT YOURSELVES, CAUSE WE COULD BE OUT OPEC AND SELLING OIL WORLD WIDE CHEAPER THAN OPEC……………..

: OIL – you better sit down.

I was surprised by this bit of info. Thats’ not what we have been hearing in the news. Check it out , if you don’t believe it..

          Now this IS interesting!!!

Here’s an interesting read, important and verifiable information :

About 6 months ago, the writer was watching a news program on oil and
one of the Forbes Bros. was the guest. The host said to Forbes, “I am going to
ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how much oil
does the U.S. have in the ground?” Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, “more
than all the Middle East put together.” Please read below.

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only
scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a
revised report (hadn’t been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in
this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota , western South Dakota , and
extreme eastern Montana …… check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska ‘s Prudhoe
Bay,and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign
          oil.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion
barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable….. at $107 a barrel,
we’re looking at a resource base worth more than $5….3 trillion.

“When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see
their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.” says Terry Johnson, the Montana
          Legislature’s financial analyst.

“This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found
in the past 56 years,” reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It’s a
formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the
‘Bakken.’ It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and
into Canada . For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead
end. Even the ‘Big Oil’ companies gave up searching for major oil wells
decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up
the Bakken’s massive reserves….. and we now have access of up to 500
billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels
will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That’s enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years
straight. And if THAT didn’t throw you on the floor, then this next one
          should – because it’s from 2006!

          U. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World

          Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the
largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION
barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In
three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this
motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders,
than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

          – 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia

          – 18-times as much oil as Iraq

          – 21-times as much oil as Kuwait

          – 22-times as much oil as Iran

          – 500-times as much oil as Yemen

          – and it’s all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the
environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America
become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of
people dictate our lives and our economy…..WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in
this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION
barrels untapped. That’s more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in
the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don’t think ‘OPEC’ will drop its price – even with this find? Think
          again!
It’s all about the competitive marketplace, – it has to… Think OPEC just
          might be funding the environmentalists?

Got your attention yet? Now, while you’re thinking about it, do this:

Pass this along. If you don’t take a little time to do this, then you
should stifle yourself the next time you complain about gas prices – by
doing NOTHING, you forfeit your right to complain.

          ——–

Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you
sent this to every one in your address book.

By the way…this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!!

GOOGLE it, or follow this link. It will blow your mind.

Great and informative post, bobby walker.

FYI, through inheritance, my wife has like 1% ownership in 11 oil wells. Eight of them were capped off, so she actually gets about $200 a month. We spend that much a month on gas just driving locally.

Also FYI, Haynesville, Louisiana, is the site of (get ready for this)the 4th largest shale gas deposit in the WORLD. If every car in the U.S. switch over to LP gas or natural gas, instead of gasoline, there is enough gas in Louisiana alone to run the country for oh, approximately 1,000 years.

I can’t verify this immediately, but I read somewhere that we only take about 5 percent of Arab oil. The bulk of it is shipped to England. So, our troops are over in Iraq and Afghanistan protecting the Kuwait oilfields so Great Britain can have plenty of cheap oil.

Welcome to the New World Order and the corruption and theft of the international bankers such as our own Federal Reserve.

Bush is gone, has been for over two years. Quit blaming him for the current situation. Repeat, he is gone, and has been for two years. Remember the war for oil in Iraq? Hey, were still there. I guess the national press lied about that also now didnt they, unless Obama is waging a war for oil. And Bush’s illegal war, you know, the one all the democrats voted for. Oh wait, its still going on, so I guess its now Obama and the democrats illegal war. Funny I dont hear the liberals calling it that. Hmm. Mighty strange that is indeed. This Obama admin is in power, has been for 2 years, and are still content to point fingers and blame everyone else. Now thats leadership. Not. I cant wait until 2012 when they are gone, because being that they are in power right now, I do blame them, and I can blame them, because they are the ones not doing a damn thing. And thats the truth sir, so pull your head out, quit blaming others, and pull up your big girl panties and join the human race.

Bill Clinton tried to kill Osama bin Laden and disrupt Al Qaeda through preemptive strikes (efforts denounced by the G.O.P.).
Bill Clinton brought perpetrators of first World Trade Center bombing and CIA killings to justice.
Bill Clinton did not blame the Bush I administration for first WTC bombing even though it occurred 38 days after Bush left office. Instead, worked hard, even obsessively – and successfully – to stop future terrorist attacks.
Bill Clinton named the Hart-Rudman commission to report on nature of terrorist threats and major steps to be taken to combat terrorism.
Bill Clinton sent legislation to Congress to tighten airport security. (Remember, this is before 911)—-The legislation was DEFEATED by the Republicans because of opposition from the airlines.—-

Bill Clinton sent legislation to Congress to add tagents to explosives, to allow for better tracking of explosives used by terrorists. It was DEFEATED by the Republicans because of opposition from the NRA.
Bill Clinton increased the military budget by an average of 14 per cent, reversing the trend under Bush I.
Bill Clinton tripled the budget of the FBI for counterterrorism and doubled overall funding for counterterrorism.
Bill Clinton detected and destroyed cells of Al Qaeda in over 20 countries.
Bill Clinton created national stockpile of drugs and vaccines including 40 million doses of smallpox vaccine.
Of Clinton’s efforts says Robert Oakley, Reagan Ambassador for Counterterrorism: “Overall, I give them very high marks” and “The only major criticism I have is the obsession with Osama”.
Paul Bremer, former Civilian Administrator of Iraq disagrees slightly with Robert Oakley as he believed the Bill Clinton Administration had “correctly focused on bin Laden.”
Barton Gellman in the Washington Post put it best, “By any measure available, Bill Clinton left office having given greater priority to terrorism than any president before him” and was the “first administration to undertake a systematic anti-terrorist effort”.

Clarence Swinney is a blatant liar. Bill Clinton did not enlarge the FBI budget or intelligence. Rather sir, it is a fact, he cut it almost in half, which allowed all these terrorists to not only enter into the country, but to communicate over a 5 year period, undetected because all the intelligence was cut by Clinton, and they formed and put into action the events of 9-11, the largest loss of life on American Soil, all due to the efforts of one Bill Clinton. You make him out to be tough on terror and your a liar. Not only did he cut our military and intelligence in half and leave us vulnerable sir, he allowed them to blow up the basement of the World Trade Centers the first time, and did nothing. He watched them blow up the USS Cole and did absolutely nothing. And he allowed them to drag our dead naked through the streets of Somalia, celebrating on live TV, and again, he did nothing. The guy was a pacifist loser, whose only striking action came in lobbing bombs all over Sarajevo helping them in their ethnic cleansing. He was a worthless pervert, always has been nothing more than white trash with money, and there is more dirt coming out daily about him every year sir. He had Vince Foster and Ron Brown murdered, and many, many more. Absolutely, without doubt, the worst president we have ever had. And the way you kiss is feet, shows just what a huge ass you are.

In your one post you state that Clinton did so much against terrorism, but you forget that he had a Rep Congress for six out of his eight years. They are the ones who write up all the bills to get all these things done. And if he was obsessed with bin Laden, WHY didn’t he take him out when he had the chance?

In another post you go on about how Fannie and Freddie aren’t responsible for all the bad mortgages they sold. I guess you never read about the CEO from Fannie (Barney Frank’s boyfriend) who cooked the books to make $90 million in bonuses. And I guess you never read about how Reps tried to stop Fannie and Freddie several times, but Frank blocked any interferrence to his boyfriend’s deception! If it’s NOT a Democrat “thing” then WHY didn’t the Dems go after these crooks that caused the meltdown in the first place?

There’s enough “blame” to go around on both sides! It’s not Dem agains Rep, but the people against the government if we want to keep any of our freedoms. When you realize that, the country will be one step closer to getting our freedom back! The more people who wake up to the game that the government is playing, the sooner we can start to recover from their socialist manipulations of our lives!

In my opinion Bush was a player either knowing or not in the scheme to destroy America by the evil forces of the left.

Obama is the end game face and voice of the evil “sinistra” orchastrating the demise of America, to stop drilling for oil, without a solid alternative is at best a national security nightmare, but in my opinion it is huge engineered step to destroy the economy and topple the dollar from its global status thus sealing the fate of America to a second rate country mired in debt and economic collapse.

This collapse will lead to riots and civil unrest, this is when evil commies call in the UN troops,(because Obama either sent ours out of the country) and start shooting Americans. Eventually taking over.

They are engineering a takeover of America – banana republic style.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That was Clintons idea that everyone should live the American dream of owning a home. Thats fine and dandy in thought, but in reality, one must be able to afford what they buy. But Clinton set up this banking thing with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac funds, and had the government guarantee the loans, so the banks willingly and knowingly lent money to people they knew didnt have a snow balls chance in hell of paying it back. Plus it was run very corruptly by top democrats Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick, who were busy writing million dollar bonuses to their democratic friends out of these funds, then a few years down the line, it catches up and the banks collapse, and whoa, its Bush’s fault. Aint that special how the left can spin things and is never, ever, held responsible for their actions by the press. Just like now, Obama gets a free pass on the birth certificate and college papers, when the press should be hammering him on it to fully divulge this stuff, and they should be asking questions as to why he has spent close to a quarter of a million dollars in legal fees to keep from having to show them. If this was a Republican or Libertarian, the press from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC would be nightly talking about this hour after hour until something was done. But this guy gets a pass. Imagine that.

      Jim,
Excuse me, that wasn’t Bush that raised the price of oil to cause $4 a gallon gas. Bush took action and allowed oil drilling off the coast, which Obama stopped last year. Then the Saudis dropped the price of a barrel of oil and gas went down immediately to $3 a gallon. And gradually went down from there. Where were you when Obama stopped the oil drilling in almost every place the U. S. can drill here. What a complete hypocrite!!!!!!!!!

        • Joyce from Loris

You are right! I was in the mountains of NC, gas went to $5 a gallon! We bought just enough to get us over the mountains, but once we were on the other side, it was still $4 a gallon. Several stations were OUT OF GAS. What a mess, and an expensive trip.

For all their days, they will not understand what you have said, because the truth just eludes them. It is a foreign thing to them. But we can try to bring it to them.

    • Dennis

You sound like the typical liberal, always wanting to blame someone, but don’t except blame for what you did. BVush made mistakes, but guess you don’t.The dems and obama are ruining this country with their socialist policies, and people like you can not see for blameing others. The ban on drilling has and will ake us more depemdent on others, green energy is something that needs to be done slowly, it needs to be produced at a reasonable price, not mandated by some goon in Washington, that goon being in the EPA or the White House.

      • DaveH

It needs to be done by Free Markets. The Liberal Greens are actually putting our energy independence further into the future by impoverishing us now. Research takes money. Rendering us poor now means that we will be able to afford less research into green energy when we need it. I think the Liberals know that. I think their real goal is simply redistribution of wealth and total control of our lives.

You can find my numbers on the youtube video (I didn’t make it) called “Democrats in their own words” talking about how the GSEs Fannie and Freddie were sound and didn’t need any oversight while the Republicans were saying they did. Also consider Ron Paul’s bill to Audit the Federal Reserve and ask youself why 135 Democrats suddenly turned their back and vote against the watered down version implanted in a financial regulation overhaul bill. The next thing they want to do is raise the debt ceiling so the government can operate through March. I suggest calling your Congressperson and Senators and telling them not to support raising the debt ceiling.

Then again, they’ll do what they want anyway. The DC swithboards crashed from consituents calling to tell them not to support any bank bailouts only for them to vote for them anyway. I say in 2012, down with both parties. Let’s clean house (and the Senate) and vote in either Libertarians or some random obscure 3rd party and kick these two corporate aligned parties to the curb. Personally though, I’ll vote Ron Paul for President in 2012 and write him in if he’s not on the ballot. It’s as good a start as any.

Clinton disassembled our military. He allowed Osama Bin Laden to escape after he masterminded the first bombing of the twin towers. Our economy was in good shape until the democratic congress took over and Barney Frank and Dodd destroyed the housing market by pushing toxic loans. Bush made his mistakes, but to his credit, he tried several times to put a stop to what was happening in the housing market, but congress would not let him stop the thieving dems.

WHINNEY, YOU ARE SO FULL OF SHEET i BET YOUR EYES ARE BROWN, YOU ARE NOTHIGN BUT A COMMIE MOUTHPIECE FOR THE LEFT, THAT’S CLINTON, OBAMA AND YES BUSH, GO TO HUFF POST WHERE THEY WILL AGREE WITH YOU, YOUR SO CALLED FACTS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN RADICAL LEFT PROPAGANDA

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Lets see. Clinton fumbled, and threw 3 interceptions, and was sacked 10 times. Bush ran for 7 touchdowns and threw for 7 more. Obama comes in off the bench, proceeds to sell his team to his opponent and throws the game, in favor of his muslim brethren. Any questions?

      • mar

good grief, again the long, boring posts about how bad Bush was. Why don’t you tell us how great the present administration is? It is hard even for far left to support with facts what is going on now so they have to continue to try and drag down the past administration. Learn from the past mistakes, whoever made them, and move to improve on the past.

You got it right. Anybody who questions it just remember that the Bush family is in oil up to their eyebows and had everything to gainby what Clarence has laid his finger on. So, if you’re a Bush lover consider Clarence’s finger in your eye. It’s been due for a long time. In most respects Bush was just foreplay until BO really stunk up the place.

Clarece – just be careful blaming a balanced budget on the president. He’s got zero to do with how much gets spent or where. That’s the H of Reps.

          • CLARENCE SWINNEY

Mike please refer to February Budget Resolution.
The President and Congress agree on TOTAL SPENDING
The President submits 13 appropriation bills inside that number.
each of 13 is massaged–upped downed etc by Congress.

Still-President is responsible for setting TOTAL goal.

BUDGET RESOLUTION??? Where do you read “BUDGET RESOLUTION” in the Constitution of the United States of America? Maybe the Confused States of Obamadom but that only counts for anything in the places where Sharia law reigns.
The Constiution makes some plain simple statements about the process:
President proposes a budget or recomendations on actions he would like to see taken up. (Do I recall in the early 1980′s Tip O’Neil crowing that Reagan’s Budget was dead-on-arrival?)
Then they treated it and him that way. ’cause they could and they didn’t want to take it up.
Call it “Continuing Budget Resolution” because they never carried out the Constitutional demand to submit, debate, pass and sign something that the American people could get ahold of and read to find out where the money’s GOING.
If you’re an history scholar Id say you never had a student. Student’s study something real and your reality is deeply challenged.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And what Reagan had to spend cleaning up after the messes that Kennedy, Johnson and Carter had caused, got the country rolling so good, that it took 4 years of Bush 1 and 6 years of Clinton to screw it up, most the last 6 by Clinton. He rode the coat tails of Reagans policies, and we all know that. Clinton screwed everything and everyone he touched, and the others he just had killed.

      • Pete NY “R I P FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”

You boasted: CLINTON AND ENERGY DEPT FOUGHT OPEC
KEEP PRICE $25-30 PER BBL. GOOD PROFIT.
        THEY FOUGHT.

RUBBISH. Clinton admin benefited from the discovery of oil in the North Sea. That alone forced the price of oil down. Fought OPEC, what a laugh!

Today, N. Sea oil is dwindling, see how the price is gradually rising. Clinton was a complete lame brain re: understanding supply and demand. No one wants to develop realistic alternative fuels; but they want to stop drilling. That is so lame.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Here you go A-hole. What did Bush do that was great? After the Arabs set up 9-11 all through the Clinton years, Bush put together a team called Homeland Security, that has kept us safe to this day. There, thats one thing I personally find as being pretty damn great. 2. He freed a country of a couple of million people from a murdering tyrant. There you go, thats 2. 3. He rebuilt our military and intelligence agencies that Bill Clinton had cut in half, leaving us vulnerable, and now, again to this day, we are still safe because of his actions, undoing Bill Clintons inactions. 4. He said what he was going to do when he got elected, and he did what he said he was going to do. Under him, employment in this country was at an all time high, ever. Under him, unemployment was at an alltime low, ever. Under him the stock market reached an all time high, ever. Gee. Best marks of all time in all 3 of those categories. Id call that pretty damn great. Now, you opened your uneducated mouth, saying you would like to know, and sir, now you have been educated, and you know. So be careful what you ask for, you just may get it. Of course, these are just the facts and all truths, if they mean anything at all to you. Being that you are carrying a left wing agenda around though, I seriously doubt if any amount of truth means anything at all to you. But your assessment of George Bush is dead wrong. Did he make mistakes? Sure. They all do. But he did good things during his time. Now I will challenge you the same, and dont lie. We will all know if your lying. What great things can Obama lay claim to? Shoving a non funded health care program illegally down the throats of 70 percent of the people that dont want it, thus endangering the best healthcare system in the world? No sir, thats a sad thing. Giving billion dollar rewards to GM and Chrysler as a reward for failing to run their business properly, thats not a good thing, let alone great. And mind you, its illegal for the government to take over private companies like that. Maybe for using our tax dollars to fund abortions overseas? No, again, thats not a good thing, let alone a great thing. Gee, seems there is nothing. Tell me some lies, what has he done. We are all waiting with baited breath.

Truth is Clarence, and look it up if you really want to know the truth. The economy, at Bush’s lowest point, once he was in office for at least a year, was higher that Clintons highest point. Thats right, Bush’ economy at its low, was higher than Clinton’s high. Put that in you pipe and smoke it Clarence, now go tell you lies to someone else.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are such a bad liar. Crediting Clinton with peace on earth? Are you on drugs. With Clinton we got the WTC basement bombed. We got the USS Cole bombed. He lobbed a billion dollars worth of bombs aimlessley into Sarajevo aiding their ethnic cleansing efforts. Then he gave China our technology, which they will be using against us one day. Peace on earth, no sir, not this guy. He was a liar, a cheat, a swindler, and he had many, many people killed who were going to expose him. You are a fool to label a leper like him as a hero like you think. A flaming fool at that.

    • Dad

…”Bush letting oil companies”… what are you talking about? The market sets the price based on supply and demand (with the exception of futures traders). Bush tried to drill a miniscule area in ANWAR, alaska national wildlife reserve, and the Democratic congress stopped it. Bush took other actions to bring the prices down… but we are almost TOTALLY DEPENDENT on foriegn oil… this is what the column is about and thst is your culprit. It is written for informed people. There are several in this blog… try to keep up.

The problem with liberals is that they know so much that just isn’t true. Ready to drill yet?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

But how can we possible be dependant on foreign oil. Jimmy Carter founded the Department of Energy back on August 8, 1977, to wean us off of our dependance of foreign oil. Today over 200,000 people work for this department, and we are using more foreign oil than ever. Imagine that.

    • BarbB

More of Bush’s fault. Yes, he made mistakes, but he’s been gone long enough now to focus on the current president. I don’t remember Bush blaming Clinton’s negligence in security which caused 911, do you? It’s all about character and pointing fingers. When you point your finger at one person, notice…you have 3 fingers point back at you. Stop the blame game. Yes NO ONE is without fault. But lets get out of the past in into the future. Obama, in my opinion, is not a good leader. I feel he is very immature and makes decisions based on what he feels people want to hear, not what’s best. He certainly knows how to talk the talk, but doesn’t know how to walk the walk. Well, he does know how to strut! :). Can anyone come up with a good way to get rid of government? I think that’s where we need to start. It has grown way too big, costing us way too much of our taxes and we have too many politicians unqualified for the job and once elected, they cater to those who will support them…not us. With all their promises to “fix” our oil problem and to rid us of the lobbyists, has anything changed? It’s all about money..greed..corruption. I’m sure God is angry and what we have done to HIS country.

How about a full scale revolution to over throw the White House. Where is the ‘Get er done’ crowd when we need them. I think you all like to bitch, but are afraid of a good fight. A fight is what it will take to get our republic back, and run by the constitution and the people. It will take bullets to get the power mongers to let go! If you do not have the common sense, to see what is happening and what the solution is, then stop bitching.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bush wasnt perfect, as are none of us. But I remember when he took over for Clinton, we were in a huge recession. I never once heard him, his cabinet, the national press, or anyone point fingers at Clinton and say “Look at the mess Billy left us in”. Not once. I saw a guy and his cabinet roll up their sleeves and go to work, and in two years, the economy was rolling along pretty darn well. These idiots in charge now, and still doing as they did on election day, pointing fingers and placing blame, and instead of being part of the solution, they are the problem. They have taken a hole, and instead of filling it in, they brought in 200 backhoes and escavated it out into this great big hole, and its getting bigger and bigger everyday, and meanwhile, they are not forming any solutions to fill it in, only it seems, trying to figure out how they can make it even bigger. And meanwhile, the liberal press gives them a free pass. It makes me sick.

          Recession under Clinton??

          Began in 2001 under Bushaloon

Alan Greenspan put in six significant interest rate hikes June 1999-June 2000–Tightened money supply

          WHY elect a Republcian.

He did same in 1996 election campaign.

          Seven significant interest rate hikes.
          Hire a Republican. Only reason.

No sir. Clintons last two years spiralled deep into a hole, when all his dirty deeds were coming to a head, and he couldnt ride the coat tails of all the things Ronald Reagan put in place anymore. He rode those good things Reagan put in place, until he rode them into the ground. He left us a huge mess, a huge recession, and he did not balance the budget or have a surplus as he tried to tell us. The dude was the biggest liar on earth, and proved it over and over. And now you really expect us to believe he balanced the budget? He raped social security, he pillaged the military and intelligence, and took that money, and added it as good, and said he balanced the budget and had a surplus, and it was all smoke and mirrors. He left us in dire straights, with our jobs sent to Mexico and our technology sent to China that we still will pay for with many lives one of these days. He sucked, and I know it, you know it, and the American public knows it. He was a perverted little leper, white trash with money. Him and his hillbilly wife.

Now see, I was going to ask just the opposite, because I deal in reality in truth. When Bush was president, and gas prices started hitting 3.00 and 3.10 a gallon, the press and the liberals were all over his admin, you know, the Bush/Cheney/Halliburton big oil connection thing. That was all I heard from both the national liberal press and all the left wing parrots everywhere. But here we are, and not a stinking peep out of the Katie Courics and Keith Olbermans and the other liberal stink mongers. Why is that? I find it pretty amazing that this guy can stink the place up, illegally take over companies, illegally shove a health care system that will bust our backs right down our throats, give lawyers to enemy terrorists, and he gets a free pass. Where is the press on finding out about his birth certificate and college papers, and why he has spent nearly a quarter of a million dollar in legal fees fighting to keep them hidden? Where are they at? I would really like to know. They seem to have no interest in reporting the truth and the facts, and that is a shame, because that is THEIR JOB. And you Jim, live in a fishbowl with blinders on your eyes and ears, as Bush was crucified over gas prices. Can you not remember that long ago? Wake up man.

I’m not sure how many say that global warming is a hoax, there well could be a warming trend occuring. The mis-statement of the progressives is calling it “man made”! Ten thousand years ago a climate change event wiped out many species, mamoth, wooly rhino, sabertooth cat, etc., six thousand years ago, climate change and Egypt is born. Four thousand years ago yet another event and Egypt dies. Several Meso-American cultures spring up, thrive for hundreds of years and then die in other climate change events, none of these “man made” Yet, according to the progressives, this one out of all the others has to be! I find that very foolish at best and criminal at worst!

    • taxpayer

Yes, better yet let’s put big oil out of business or force them to move to China. Wow! We will be free from that awful polluting gas. Then we can work on creating more government jobs and put people to work.

Actually Obama loaned Brazil billions of dollars to drill off their coast for oil so it is not all about the environment. He seems to be going out of his way to destroy the American economy. Regulation has chased business offshore before he came into office. By the time Obama is done you have to wonder if the United States will have more than just tourist jobs flipping hamburgers.

        • Dennis

That wasn’t a loan, it was a gift with no return profit to America, This was a gift with OUR tax payer dollars, a gift to George Soros from Obama, George Soros and China will make all the profit from OUR $2 Billion in tax payer dollars.

IN our depest recession in history corp. profts at hi levels.
Strange? Imports. Buy $1 sell for $3.

40% of imports from China from plants owned by american multi-nationals

I was an exec over 35 years in three manufacturing firms each the largest in America in it’s product line.

Labor Costs. Built plants where had lowest labor costs.Always.

China is buying our jobs. They build modern plants. Low rent.
Low labor costs. No Health Insurance cost-No pension fund costs-no overtime extra pay.

Hanesbrands moved into huge modern plant in China in 2010
Closed all our plants.Large hosiery and underwear mfg.
Labor is biggest cost factor in that product line.

Whirlpool to Mexico close Indiana 1000 job plant.
CEO said Labor costs. Could not charge $700 like his Mexican competitors for refrigerator when his cost was $700.

          Regulation is distraction and scapegoat.
I have yet to hear ONE executive testify before Congress and give Numbers on Cost of Regulation vs Cost Of Labor.
I tape many and study them.

It doesn’t help that America has the highest corporation tax rates in THE WORLD, at 35%. Even Canada just dropped their rates to 16.5%, with another drop scheduled for 2011, down to 15%.

          • Mike In MI

Well, Clarence – Look at it this way:
If they strip all the wealth out (not the dollars, but the wealth) of this country who’s going to be able to buy their cheap crap. Greece? England, Ireland, France, Japan?
Just learn to get by on less. What’d the pioneers get out to Kansas, Colorado and California in? SUV’s?
Just prepare yourself for what’s coming if we don’t get our energy pump in gear again. Energy provides some of the cement that holds society together. The biggest thing is a working, energized faith base. If you don’t have that your chances will be feduced dramatically – that’s been proven. (Liberalism is the opposite of faith. So, they won’t be around long to bother us once the stuff begins falling in the oscillating blades.)

          • Bruce D.

Red tape is a hidden tax. By its very nature, government power creates
transactional and compliance costs. Unchecked, government driven
regulatory environments are an ever expanding perpetual-motion machine.
Any bureaucracy is quickly captured by special-interest groups such as the beneficiaries of the regulation. Al Gore would be the beneficiary of green legislation poised to because the first green billionaire.

Cost Burden of Regulation on Small Business “Staggering”
By Jeff Cornwallon November 29, 2010
Winslow Sargeant, chief counsel for advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration, recently shared the following facts with the Senate Small Business Committee:

•Costs to meet Environmental Protection Agency rules average $22,000 per employee for a small manufacturing business. This compares to only $5,000 per employee for the large companies they are trying to compete with.
•The average costs for all small businesses to meet federal rules is $10,585 per worker.

•Small businesses face costs of meeting Internal Revenue Service tax regulations that are four times greater per employee than for large companies.
Why was he pointing out the regulatory nightmare for small business? To gain support for getting the federal regulators out of the way of entrepreneurs? Nope. It was simply to support the repeal of the dramatically expanded 1099 reporting requirements that were part of the Obama health care legislation.

So required healthcare, required minimum wage, osha, tax regulations, EPA… have no effect on a business bottom line in the USA? So the only reason a company moves is because of labor costs and not because of high taxes? I understand that doctors who take Medicare have to have to hire at least one person to do all the required paper work for reimbursement. That affects their bottom line but government intervention in business does not affect the bottom line? Cool!

California regulation stifles local small business and economic growth
September 2nd, 2010 A recent study released by the State of California tallies the total cost of regulation to business in the State of California at almost 493 billion dollars per year—“almost five times the State’s general fund budget, and almost a third of the State’s gross product.” The result: a loss of approximately 3.8 million jobs due to overregulation, contributing to California’s 10.5 percent unemployment rate which as of early November 2009 became equivalent to federal levels.

Really Clarance all the new studies say the same thing.
Federal regulations cost U.S. businesses $1.75 trillion a year, 59% more than in 2005, according to a new report from the Office of Advocacy in the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Clarence . . . the US has the highest Business Tax in the G20 . . . the EPA over regulates and creates endless Red Tape. Govt is the problem. Just like the govt caused the real estate meltdown, they have been chasing away industry since the 70′s. It started with the Steel Industry, the rest followed. But what does the Bamster clown do . . . more taxes, more regulation and lets the looney EPA run amuk.

Oh Oh might one you are right. We have regulated our country out of jobs, and what party might that be who is doing that? Bush! Right? The Republicans. Our control on oil drilling, that terrible stuff oil which is destroying our country, who is keeping that from being pumped in our country? Who is it that keeps talking about raising taxes more. See Clarence there are reasons for companies leaving our country besides labor. You just have to want to see them. Labor does have it’s problem in our country. No doubt about it. Mr. Know it all how is Obama making that better? Oh that’s right, it’s Bush’s fault, and the Republicans again. Oh by the way how’s that Climate Change Idea working out for our country. Where’s the real facts about that. Don’t give me the Democrats talking points or Al Gore’s b/s either. Just another question. How is green helping us? I think we have increased the CO2 count in our atmosphere just from the b/s that has been spread about this whole idea. Since when has CO2 been dangerous. Tell me how you make and use any energy without making some kind of CO2. How does making alcohol for fuel decrease the making of CO2. This is what we are spending our tax dollars on Clarence.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The China thing you mentioned Clarence. Thats because CLINTON GAVE THEM OUR TOP SECRET TECHNOLOGY. Pay attention man, your missing a lot.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Clarence you leave out a lot of figures when your attacking big business. Such as, how many tax revenue dollars they create, not only in payroll taxes they pay, both Federal, State, Local, and half the social security we all pay, but all the jobs they hire the millions of people for, all pay taxes and spend money and buy houses and cars, all because big business is around to give them jobs. If people like you had your way, and chased all of them away and shut them down and taxed them to death, we would have the economy of Haiti here. Then what you gonna do Clarence? Blame Bush? Come on man. Big business is the straw that stirs the drink. Without them, this country is done and finished, check mate. And the democrats continue to attack them and demonize them, and make them fold and leave one by one, by either taxing them to death, or sending the jobs off to Mexico, ala Bill Clinton, the leper. Pay attention Clarence, your missing a lot.

        • Joyce from Loris

Obama also gave $2 billion to Mexico, to drill in the SAME AREAS of the Gulf of Mexico that he BANNED from drilling by American companies. Guess we will have to start buying oil from Mexico now, along with the purchases from Canada. Is America not good for ANYTHING anymore??

          • castaway

Yes, but our government ain’t worth a shit. It is killing us. We can no longer survive this government.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yeah, and force everyone to buy 65 thousand dollar solar panels to cover the roofs of their houses and their yards, and put up a bunch of ugly windmills everywhere and hope the wind blows and the sun shines everyday, especially when its really cold out. And make everyone buy electric cars that go 100 miles then die and need plugged in for 24 hours to charge. Those are really efficient. Say your driving to Colorado from Ohio on a vacation, you should get there in a month. Maybe. Unbelievable.

    • Doug

Why are they making a obscene profit and why do they charge so much. Gee could it be all the regulations that a bunch on morons that know nothing about oil production or maybe it the obsenene taxes paid to the federal government from the oil companies that the price is so high! But hey you and panty brothers can ride your bikes or walk why dont you be the first to winn yourself of oil now make sure you use no plastics and heating oil or NG to heat your home or cook your food. A good place for that would be some 3rd world country that is still in the stone age just where Obams and liberal communist are taking this country!

      • Bruce D.

One of the many really bad things the environmentalist did was encourage the use of plastic bags. They are not biodegradable. You can grow a paper tree in 3 to 5 years depending on the rain you get. A good business destroyed by environmentalist that only made the environment worst.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And the ones that bitch the most about the oil companies, are liberals like Barbara Streisand and others that fly private jets from coast to coast, using more fuel in a day than I can in a year, then get to the airport, jump into a Hummer limousine, drive to the venture they are speaking at, tell everyone how evil the oil companies are and that we should just stop using oil altogether, then get back into her Hummer limo, drive to the airport, and fly her private jet across the country. Stinking hypocrites. The left wing consists of them. They are truly todays Pharisees. And for those of you who dont know who the Pharisee’s were, they were these so called high preists and rabbi’s in the Bible, that always wore the most expensive materials in their gowns. And they had the choicest seats at all events, and they were always where they could be seen by the public at gatherings. If they ever did any giving or doing good things, they made sure it was for all to see. But they did their evil behind closed doors, and took bribes and pocketed money for themselves, as they were the “do as I say, not as I do” kind of guys. They forgot that they could hide things from man, but they couldnt hide them from God. When we conduct our daily lives, we all need to keep that in mind. What we say and do, all of it is seen, by someone who can and will hold us accountable for it.

the cost of regulations and taxes is passed to the consumer! So expect higher costs for everything as it takes energy to make and move products to maket, even if they come from China, good luck on your pay if you have a job paying for all these increases in cost.

    • DudeA

Oh yeah! Let the planet Earth be destroyed……99% of the global warming is caused by the sun. Lets put out the Sun and stop global warming – what a moron. Well why not all of us go back to the stone age and have nil greenhouse gas emissions.

Heck, when he gets voted out of office in 2012, it’s going to be Bush’s fault he didnt get re-elected. I can see that coming already.

  • Bruce D.

Great post Chip. It doesn’t seem like Obama could possible have the ratings he does now. I know the left can buy votes by redistribution but I still have to wonder why people cannot see past that. If Obama continues to pass legislation to discourage business there will not be any money left to redistribute. I have to think that some think one all two percent of the population can make everyone well off for the rest of their life if you you just confiscate their wealth. This is so short sited Obama’s war on business.

      Bar Stool Economics

      David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D.
      Professor of Economics
      University of Georgia

      Bar Stool Economics

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and
the bill for all ten comes to $100 and If they paid
their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
      like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
      The fifth would pay $1.
      The sixth would pay $3.
      The seventh would pay $7.
      The eighth would pay $12.
      The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.)

So, that’s what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed
quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the
owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good
customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of
your daily beer by $20.” so drinks for the ten now cost
      just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way
we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected…They
would still drink for free…But what about the other
six men – the paying customers? How could they divide
the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair
share?’…They realized that $20 divided by six is
$3.33…But if they subtracted that from everybody’s
share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each
end up being paid to drink his beer..So, the bar owner
suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s
bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to
work out the amounts each should pay.

      And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing
      (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before…And
the first four continued to drink for free…But once
outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their
      savings.

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,”declared the
sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,” but he got
$10!” “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man.
“I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got
ten times more than I!” “That’s true!!” shouted the
seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got
only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,”
yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks,
so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But
when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something
important. They didn’t have enough money between all
of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college
professors, is how our tax system works. The people
who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from
a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for
being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the
      atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Again A-hole, you tell lies. Clinton left Bush in one hell of a recession, with a military cut in half, with an intelligence agency that was cut in half. Terrorist running free all over the country, which after, according the the facts, took them 5 years of Clinton sleeping, they pulled off 9-11. You can think Clinton balanced the budget, but he didnt. Heck man, I could walk in there right now, fire half the military and half the intelligence, sell China our intelligence, sell our jobs to Mexico, and cook the books to show, hey, look at all this money weve got. Arent I amazing. Smoke and mirrors pal, smoke and mirrors. The dude was a leper, the worst thing to ever happen to this country. We will be paying for a long time for what Clinton did and didnt do as president. Worst of all, was how he let the terrorists blow up the WTC basement the first time, then the USS Cole, then drag our dead on TV through the streets of Somalia beating their naked bodies. Embarrassing to this United States of America, that our supposed leader allowed all this and did absolutely nothing, but reach for another cigar and another intern. At least Bush showed them we mean business, but now with Obama, they are laughing again, because they know the left are pacifists. They know it. As time passes, more and more comes out, and on Clinton, its more damning day after day. When its all finally revealed over time, we all will know how damning to this country he was, and we still are paying for his misdeeds, and will for quite some time. Your honoring him as something great, shows your lack of disdain for the truth, to which I have to say, shame on you sir. Shame on you.

The most disastrous to the country was how much he had to rebuild our force for wars. Then the dumb American people had a snit fit in 2006 like thay had in 2008 with Obama’s election. The Left-dominated House and friends like McCain, Snow and other closet marxists went hog wild with the red ink pen and blamed it on Mr. Bush’s Admin.

You are the top of the top, the biggest loser of all. Congratulations, your a Bill Clinton clone, another loser thinking with his little head. What a joke.

  • http://personalliberty.com Steve E

I do not agree with much that Obama has done, but there is a need to suspend drilling in the gulf until the govt is SURE what caused the last blowout, and to be s 1000% sure it doesn’t happen again.

As far as atopping Alaskan drilling to save the polar bears, you
will have to show me proof before I buy that BS.

    • Bruce D.

I think your wish has come true Steve E. The oil rigs have moved to locations in other countries not to return for a long time. That is one of the reasons for gas to move to $5 a gallon.

      • Curtis

Another reason for $5 gas is the fact that Americans are energy hogs and waste too much, driving cars that are too big. Do you really need to drive that Hummer a block and a half to the local 7-Eleven to buy that slurpee and twinkie?

        • Bruce D.

Americans do not have to apologize for big cars. Get a life.

          • Curtis

No you don’t have to apologize for big cars… but you don’t get to whine about the price a of gas if you drive a big car.
Patient: “Hey Doctor… it hurts when I do this.”
            Doctor: “Then stop doing it.”

          • Bruce D.

Or for that matter an affluent lifestyle. Only socialists do that because they lack the creativity to solve problems and look to government for answers. Governments answer is always tax more and do with less, the great socialist mantra.

          • Curtis

I enjoy my affluence. I keep my money by taking public transit to work. I could pay $200 per month for a parking space downtown and the $60 per tank of gas and drive in the stop and go traffic that is laughingly called “rush hour” and pay more for car insurance because I drive to work five days a week. OR I pay $100 per month for a pass, and save money on gas and insurance and spend my money elsewhere. Like taking my SUV and going camping, canoeing, hunting and fishing. It has nothing to do with socialism… it’s common sense.

          • Bruce D.

Curtis very few people live where public transportation is practical. In most places it takes $20 to $40 dollars for a taxies after you get off public transit. I would take public transportation if it got you where you want to go. I really don’t like driving in the heavy traffic of the city.

          • libertytrain

Perhaps Curtis still lives in Germany where public transportation is more readily available to most in the country. Of course Germany is about the size of Wisconsin so that might have been easier to provide.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I totally agree. I drive a Honda CRV and I love it. My best friend drives Chevy Avalanche and he loves it. No big deal. If you can afford the gas, more power to a guy. Ive got nothing against anyone driving a big vehicle. If I didnt have to drive 25 miles to work each day, I might, but for now, I go for the fuel economy. The guys crack about people owning big vehicles makes no sense at all.

        • castaway

You are way out of line! This is America by the way! Not communist China.

        • Dale on the left coast

Curtis . . . just a few FACTS!!! The US uses about 25% of the worlds energy . . . the US also has about 25% of the world’s economy. If we are willing to reduce our energy consumption, we must also be willing to reduce our economy. Question – are you willing to sacrifice your job???
How about we just go out a drill, drill and drill some more . . . there are enough oil and natural gas reserves to last over 100 years, IN THE USA . . . we just need to go and get it.
And Curtis – they stopped making Hummers about 3 years ago.

          • Curtis

Dale, you’re making the assumption that energy consumption has a one-to-one relationship or correlation with the economy. I’m not sure I agree with your assumed facts in this case. Energy consumption for manufacturing and delivery wasn’t my point. Wasteful consumerism was target.
As for your other “fact”, here’s the TRUTH… the last Hummer H3 “rolled off the line at Shreveport on May 24th, 2010.” (Roy, Carolyn (2010-05-24 “Last Hummer rolls off line at Shreveport GM plant” http://www.ksla.com/Global/story.asp?S=12533107).

That would be eight months ago NOT three years ago. Either your math or your “fact” is incorrect.

          • Mike In MI

            Curtis -
I see from your posts that, while you have figured out a few good ways to personally do things, your’s is a purely anecdotal situation.
I’m not sure you have any conception how many people who own(ed) their own small businesses need vehicles with power, volume and flexible utility. Are you, maybe, one of those people who wouldn’t believe the truth if it were produced? After all, Why do you need an SUV to go camping? You should ride your bikes and backpack.

        • http://personalliberty.com Rolychick

          Curtis:

When your little energy-efficient car is stuck in the ditch because of the snow, be sure to wave me and my F-150 on, so I don’t waste my time helping you out with my horrible vehicle.

          Thanks

    • Vigilant

The environmentalist wackos are the reason why deep water drilling was initiated in the first place. The rigs were pushed far offshore to prevent spills that would reach the land sooner.

Ironically, fixing shallow well blowouts is much easier than trying to cap deep water blowouts, as we saw with the BP fiasco. Thus, you can thank EPA and other regulatory agencies for the mess.

BTW, where’s the massive damage to the environment that was supposed to have occurred as a result of the BP spill (“the worst environmental disaster in history”)? The libs seem to be awfully reticent about that.

The only damage it really caused was to put thousands more out of work in a socialist-caused recession.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Amen brother. Weve got oil under the ground all over these United States, but the greenies in conjuction with the democratic left have block all efforts to drill it, even after Bush ordered them to start drilling, which by the say, shows that the president cant do anything he wants, without congress going along and saying yes, so those of you that like to blame him, then blame the democratic congress also. Thank you.

        • Mike In MI

          Right again, Beberoni -
And while we’re at it let’s not forget to put these guys fooloin’ around in Washington today on notice that they’re being watched and wil be pushed or putched.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thats right, as over 60 of them that were just kicked to the curb can attest to. We are watching, and you screw it up, your going out the door at the first possible turn.

    • Illinois Minuteman

Steve, Mexico, China, and a couple other countries are STILL drilling in the gulf. The USA is not. We, the taxpayers, are sending billions in aid to Mexico which is an oil rich country. Guess what Mexico exports to the US? Poverty.

      • Bill Az

You forgot, Pot, Violence, and BO supporters

        • Mike In MI

          Bill AZ -
Let’s don’t forget, they send our wealth back to Mexico, too. Some of it they earned illegally and some they got from the welfare system…money we paid in taxes.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And when these foreign countries have a leak guess who shores it is coming up on? Will the liberal greenies attack them when it happens? Very interesting. And its funny, that if Bush was president when the leak happened, they would have been all over him. But since Obama was, he got a free pass for his inaction, and instead the liberal press used big oil as the evil villian, attaching them to the republicans somehow, when it was during Obama that this rig was pulled into the Gulf, and it was under Obama that this well began its drilling, so it was under Obama that the safeguards were not checked. But he gets a free pass. Hmmm. Mighty strange.

      • http://personalliberty.com Rolychick

You know what really bugs me about that? America, with its huge amount of regulation in drilling, would do a FAR better job at keeping things clean than the governments you mention. So there’s another way the drilling ban in the U.S. makes absolutely no sense.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sure they do. We have safety regulations and controls, and we seem to be the only country that follows them. Just like the overfishing of tuna and things like that, we abide by them, but foreign nations never have to for some reason. And our own government is the worst enemy of our business, with all their red tape and taxes and this and that, it costs us so much more to produce things, because of government interference. If they would get out of the way, and let the free market system work, and quit regulating everything, and trying to get tax dollars for everything, both the tax coffers and the country would be better off.

  • helen

I think the refiners should just turn that right around. Since CO2 is highly used in green plant photosenthesis it should be piped into an on site green house for the production of food. Of course, then you may need a permit to place green houses on the site.

    • Vigilant

There’s little to no evidence that CO2 damages our environment. The largest portion of it gets rained into the oceans.

    • http://personalliberty.com Rolychick

      Helen:

Good idea, but it’s probably not possible. The Food Safety Bill will allow the government to decide who can grow and what they can grow and how much they can grow…with the help of global agencies. (And that was passed by members of BOTH parties!) So, once again, regulation hinders us to find creative ideas to help solve problems.

Sounds pessemistic, doesn’t it? Sorry. I don’t mean to be. I do believe in the power of the people of America, and I hope you do too.

      • Mike In MI

        Hey, Rolychick -
I wonder if government regulation is what will ultimately bring the world to the point of destruction? Thereby requiring that before it’s totally ruined beyond the capacity for life to continue God will have to send The Lord back for his return trip? Then God can reset up His systems of regulating earth that Obama and friends have destroyed.

America is now being destroyed from within. We the people have been asleep too long. We need to get back to smaller government and let business sift out the needs of markets. We need to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. We need a new President that will live by our Constitution. We need to stop giving billions of dollors away to buy favors of foreign governments and support our own people. The past few years have brought American into great danger. The Soviet Union was broken by over spending and its top heavy government. No war could have done it better. The same is now happening to America.

There was no need to stop the drilling in the Gulf other than the fact that Obama’s administration could cripple the U.S. economy. If you are paying attention at all to what is happening, most of these crises seem to be manufactured. Planes have crashed and we do not ground ALL planes. Car accidents happen frequently, but we do not put a stop to traffic. This is just part of the liberal progressive plan to destroy America so they can build their “socialist utopia”. How can ANY American support this agenda?

    • steve meller

      Yes Jules,
I am convinced for I have seen the proof that the Gulf Oil Spill was planned and very well executed.
The oil companies, the cleanup companies and inside traders (all of the same people) all got fat at the expense of Mother Earth and the good people in the Gulf region. And the plan continues to unfold.
      Good info from Len Horowitz.http://www.healthyworldmessage.com/archive.php?id=128

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

But notice, that when this spill happened, the liberal press and the greenies were all over this, that it was the armageddon of environmental disasters. Yet you go down there now, other than some slight oil stains on the marshes, you would never know it occurred at all. Not at all. Nature is a lot stronger and robust than anyone seems to give it credit for. Im here to tell you know, that I dont litter, and I try never to pollute if I can help it, but there is no way man can totally screw up the environment as the greenies think. Even if we had all out nuclear war, fact is, nature would clean itself of it. Is man that pompous that he thinks himself great enough to actually destroy this planet that God created? Think again. God has reserved it for destruction by fire, and it will be done by His hand, not ours. And a new earth will be formed here. So there.

        • Mike In MI

Obama had to, because the greenies and George Soros own them, and they have to appease them at every move, or these guys cut their funding to them out, and they cant have that.

I CAN’T BELIVE YOU LIBERAL ASSLES THINK THAT DRILLING FOR OIL IS BAD. WHEN YOU ARE PAYING $5.00 PER GALLON I HOPE YOU WILL BE SMART ENOUGHT TO UNDERSTAND THAT WITH NO DRILLING NO GAS HIGH PRICES. GET IT. OBAMA WANTS ME TO DRIVE SOME LITTLE SHIT BOX CAR THAT I WILL BE KILLED IN. SO I NOW HAVE ONE THAT GETS 7 MILES PER GALLON AND I LOVE IT. “DRILL BABY DRILL”

    • Curtis

Hell yeah keep drilling, destroying the environment, why care about the animals, fish, they are the things we eat, go ahead dril drill drill, idiots

      • Dale on the left coast

Hermie . . . thousands of holes have been drilled in the Gulf and elsewhere in the world. One has a problem . . . and you are pulling out your hair. Where was the Pres and the Feds when it happened? Took over 60 days for the WH clown to talk to BP. He turned down help from cleanup experts. Now the oil is gone . . . wow!! What happened to the poluted forever nonsense?
Everything you have today is linked to oil . . . oil is a natural substance created in the core of the earth, necessary for modern life and civilization. There is nothing to replace oil tomorrow, next week, or evern next year. Therefore we will be using it for many years to come . . . so just get over it!!!

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Funny how the liberal press was all over Bush when Katrina hit, because it took the national guard 3 days to penetrate the flood to get in there to help, when after this oil leak, Obama did nothing except turn down help, for well over a week, into the second week. And he got a free pass. Where was all the outcry from Ray Nagin and such that it was because the people were black? Where were you Ray Nagin? Why didnt you blame Obama for not getting there and doing something? I know they voted your worthless butt out of office, but you could have gotten on TV and lamb basted the man like you did Bush. Mr. Myers, while I certainly agree that obama is in bed with Opec, you failed to mention Petrobras. He snuck a multi-billion dollar loan to Petrobras (Petroleum Brazil)for deep water drilling shortly after taking office. Hypocritical to his environmental agenda? You bet. The major shareholder in Petrobras: George Soros. Obama’s covered with slimy big-oil dealings–just not to the benefit of Americans, our economy, or our deluded environmental programs.

As a laid of worker from the Gulf of Mexico oilfields, you might try multiplying the administration’s unemployment figures by twenty. That will give you a more realistic figure of actual roustabouts, deckhands and specialists that were immediately impacted. What that figure fails to incorporate is the ripple effect into suppliers, equipment manufacturers/leasors,direct shore support, trucking and local infrastructure…Let’s remember, of course, that TX,LA,AL,MS, and the Florida Panhandle all voted heavily against Obama.

    • ValDM

This just supports the idea that the American taxpayer is being plundered of his last dollar. We have inflation, higher taxes/fees, and now higher gas prices. Odumbo will NOT stop until we all have nothing.

I feel the time is right to TAR and Feather Obammy boy! Folks, can’t you see it again today, how Obammy boy is driving our great country into ruins? This is his plan, to turn the United States of America into a 3rd world, Marxist, Socialistic, Communistic nation. He wants Muslims and terrorists to take over and control the USA under Shariah law and bury our Constitution. I still can not figure how these endorsements are allowed to occur each and every day? Is there not one single politican or patriotic American citizen out there that will stand up to these crimes? I keep hearing talk of the new Revolution and i’m willing and waiting to join in, but where do we start? Who will lead the way? Where is the White Power, the skinheads, the military milita groups, Patriots, rebels?

Considering our problems today, anyone who searches the past rather than the present sould be required to “stand in the corner”. What Carter, Clinton, or Bush did is completely irrelevent. Might as well refer to what George Washington did. Obummer is not American and obviously wants to destroy us. He is quite intelligent, some say. Kind of a waste of intelligence, I’d say.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Intelligent? If so, he wouldnt have to have his telestrator tell him what to say, now would he?

The blame game, Carter did it, Reagan did it, Clinton did it, Bush did it, and now Obama did it to, And guess what, the next President will do the same thing, what a joke One day you will wake up people and see who’s to blame. Question is will it be to late.

    • Dennis

Opps i left out Bush 1, he did it to.

I dont recall Reagan pointing fingers, nor Clinton, and definately not Bush. Bush never pointed fingers at Clinton. He just went to work. But all I have seen Obama do, is what he did to get elected, attack others and point fingers and tell lies about them. That is all he has brought to the table, and that is why over 60 of his buddies got kicked to the curb, and that is why his worthless butt is getting kicked to the curb in 2012. You cant count on that, so put that in your pipe and smoke it buddy. Its happening soon, in a theatre near you.

    • Curtis

What exactly are you saying Arthur? You’ve stated that “America has voted for this undercover muslim/communist” and that we have “never faced a more dangerous diabolical enemy”. You’re referring to Obama, no doubt? Then you ask for “ONE patriotic secret service man who would stand up do the right thing”. In a democracy we use ballots to change things… we don’t get other “secret services” to do it for us. The last guy that had an “SS” didn’t last too long.
So Arthur, what exactly is the right thing? Why does it need to be a “patriotic secret service”? With a politician currently in the hospital fighting for her life after an assassination attempt, I find your post highly offensive. I also find the innuendo and double-talk of your post very cowardly and utterly contemptible.

Drill baby Drill America needs the jobs(millions of them) America needs to free itself from foreign oil(it is all that our country needs to be self sufficient)America needs to have final say in global policy(as it almost always has) and the only way I see this possible is by drilling oil on our soil. We as a country need leverage and unfortunate as it is There is nobody in the Excetutive branch of our government who has ever owned or ran a business and understands that leverage is everything when you go to the table to negotiate. but alas the supporters of the president are invested up to their eye teeth in green technology and want a green america(that is just what americans want to throw $50k into their upside down home great strategy) Ask tastykake in Philadelphia that invested millions in green technology for their plant they are bankrupt from the investment and trying to sell their plant a company that has been in business in Philadelphia since the turn of the century.

L.M. Howell, you have to admit one thing. Obama is smart enough to get a top rated education, all at the expense of the American taxpayer, work as a “professor”, again being paid by taxpayers, became a politician, again being paid by taxpayers, and made his way to the HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE UNITED STATES, again being paid by taxpayers. A stupid person could not have done all this. He is EVIL SMART. Don’t underestimate his intelligence nor his ability to do even MORE EVIL before this ride is over. It is not wise to downplay our enemies abilities.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You call that smart? I know many liberals, who are getting free unemployent from the government, free welfare from the government, free food stamps from the government, free WIC from the government, and getting free college classes from the government. And knowing them, seeing how they live, the things they do, I would seriously have to say, being fully educated about them, that they are not in the least bit smart. On the 1-10 scale, most are around 3. So it doesnt take smarts to get a handout these days from the government. It takes failure. They reward failure. Success in punished, as when you succeed, you pay for these failures. Understand?

Why are we not drilling here???? http://bakkenshale.net/bakkenshalemap.html

Business, all business, pays for the slugs and deadbeats that do not contibute… and $200 profit per calf does not pay for a lot of laziness. I am probably twice times the age of the average blogger and I work 14 hours per day… from dark to dark thirty.
Government jobs are not the answer as they do not pay the bills… they ARE the bills. I say cut them back at least 20% and dump the outsourcing. This drives the prices up as well… and there are fewer workers paying the bill.

It costs about $200-300MM to drill an offshore well. If you want gas for your guzzler, you’ll have to pay for this reasonable business expense. Now listen carefully… you have to have made a profit of $200-300MM to pay for the drilling… and a field can cost over a billion to develop. The government pays this much in INTEREST on the money they didn’t have to spend… courtesy of Obama and the Dems.

    • Mike In MI

No way in hell it’d cost that much in S. Dakota. What’s wrong with S. Dakota? Or, would that be a way to pick us up and get us moving- – - if that’s what Obama really wanted to do …he WOULD.

  • Bill Az

    Keyoto Protocol,
is kind of a blueprint, raising prices is in the plan, they just invent the excuses as needed to support their actions.

What would the elites do ? if we no longer needed large amounts of oil ?

If we were using hydrogen, not just the cost of energy would go down,
IT WOULD blow their pollution story completely out of the picture.

One of BO’s first actions was suspending hydrogen testing at Chevrolet, Hmmm…

There are so many battle fronts at this time, but energy is a big one onto itself.
    Where’s our Yankee ingenuity ?

I’m sure we can overcome a lot of these problems with brainpower. I’m playing with hydrogen experiments and as I gather the parts the suppliers tell me others are doing experiments also.

    • ValDM

We still have our ingenuity. What we don’t have is an administration that will get behind us and support us. Every time someone comes up with a solution, there’s a new regulation to tie our hands.

      • Mike In MI

Right, and right after the regulator comes the revenuer with his hands out. Fill one for the government and the other for Obama’s next election (or we’ll shut you down).

    • Joyce from Loris

Yes, and just as the old day “moon shiners” made their living, regardless of what the government said, so will the “gas shiners” of tomorrow. If uneducated Scottish immigrants can figure out how to make alcohol, hidden in the mountains with the very basic tools, then the “intelligent” of today’s society should be able to figure out how to make alcohol as well, and make it where it will burn in a motor.

      • Vigilant

        oyce,

Properly mixed, ethanol (alcohol) can be and indeed is being used to fuel combustion engines. The problems are (1) it costs more to extract, transport and mix the ethanol than it does to use straight gasoline, and (2) by putting a demand on corn as a source of ethanol, instead os using richer sources such as switch grass, shortages and increased prices for cattle feed result.

        • Vigilant

maybe ya’ll forgot what obama said in his campaign speechs that he was going to fundamentally change this country. the other thing you don’t seem to get is that ALL PILTICIANS don’t care about this country. until they are held accountable for their actions this destruction will continue. look at what the sheriff of tuscon said on tv when he gave his opinion about the killer instead of just giving the facts. now the defense lawyer will use this in court . this man should have been fired on the spot by the governor but he lived on to keep giving his opinion, he got his 15 minutes of fame which is what he wanted . how many of you are making money off of what obama is doing to the price of oil? your not complaining about that, how come?

  • Dorothy

It is tragic that the politics of oil has distracted Americans from the opportunity to fully utilize many new and relatively low cost renewable energy sources more extensively.

Consider that if we sent a man to the moon in one generation, we ought to be able to create a solar power grid in the USA to fully heat and cool homes and businesses with renewable energy at a very low cost.

And one final sad news update: CNN reported on Sunday that a leak had developed in the Alaskan pipeline atop some of the most environmentally fragile landscape on this planet and flow has been reduced by 95% (that is what the article indicated). Our prices for gasoline at the pump and for home use are going to rise very soon. We MUST demand that Washington D.C. start planning for a renewable energy future and soon!

    • ValDM

Relatively low cost??? I don’t know about your finances, but I can’t afford solar power. Do you know how many acres of land it would take to build a power grid of just solar panels that would power a small city? Not to mention the wildlife it would impact. Get a clue.

      • Joyce from Loris

That’s true, ValDM, but each home can have it’s OWN solar panel set up, at a relatively low cost. No environmental impact at all, and can take care of the basic power needs of a family. Instead of sending billions of dollars to other countries to aid in their oil production for Americans to have to buy, it would make more sense for the government to give each American $4000 to purchase a home solar power system. Of course, the government would not do this, because they could not TAX YOU ON IT. It’s the taxes, you see.

        • Bill Az

Cute idea IF it worked, someday it might.
The cost per watt produced is pretty expensive at the moment. If you covered your whole roof with solar panels you probably still could not run just your refrigerator.
Money from the government ? How many dollars collected does it take to get one back ?
Hydrogen has been hidden for years but even Hitler used it, remember the Hindenburg ? Made from just H2o, burn it and you have steam as a by product.

You do have a good attitude, but asking for big brother to help ?
Didn’t we get into this mess by getting too much help from him to start with ?

          • Joyce from Loris

You are right, Bill Az. Not really asking big brother for a hand out, just a redirection on my tax dollar. Instead of giving it to Brazil or Mexico, give it back to the American tax payers. That’s not exactly a “hand out”. And yes, we do need to keep exploring ideas that can get us off the hamster wheel of indebtedness. I am installing solar panels, and yes, they will deliver enough wattage that will operate major appliances in the house, including the furnace. I hope that I won’t need that much, thanks to the 200 acres of trees that I have to cut and burn for heat. There are other choices. I chose not to work so hard to make money to give to the power company, and have more time to be at home taking care of myself.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Big problem here Joyce, it doesnt work. I know. I was at a place, that had the restrooms, showers, laundry room and fish cleaning hut, all solar powered by a government supplied 250,000.00 solar system. Thing is, second day there, it rained for the next 3 days, and there was no lights or hot water or laundry running for those 3 days. Now where I live, it is 14 degree’s outside right now. You couple that with no sun and no heat, and my water pipes would bust and it would cause thousands of dollars of damage to my house, and needless to say, I would be pretty uncomfortable in a house, at 14 degrees, with no heat. It is unreliable, as is those stupid wind turbine things, because unless your in a constant wind plain, and you have an extra quarter of a million laying around, along with about 100 acres to put up enough of them, they are worthless. Give me gasoline for my car and natural gas for my home anyday, anytime, anyplace. We have plenty here, we just need to kick out the greenies and go down and get it. We know how do, and we know how to safely, securely, and without harm to the environment. I love the outdoors. I love the woods, and the mountains, and go there for a week every year. I am going to retire there. I am very environmentally conscience. But Im also a realist, and I know that no amount of oil we extract or gas we burn is going to harm this planet. The enviro’s cook the books and present false recordings on this crap. Heck, look at all the millions of gallons of oil that spewed out of the Gulf. Its not even a year, and in 90 percent of the places, you cannot tell it even happened, and in another year, maybe 2 at the most, you will not be able to tell anywhere. Now if nature can clean up after that, Im sure it can take care of the gas I burn in my car. Be real. Al Gore is a pathetic liar, who sought to make a billion dollars selling technology we do not need, by hyping destruction to us all. He is a pathetic sad man, and even admitted he lied about it.

      Dorothy . . . tell us about this new energy . . .
Did you know that in Europe, as the subsidies for wind and solar are being necessarily removed do to lack of funds . . . the factories are laying off thousands of folks . . . the electricity they produce costs many times more conventions sources.

I’m glad we did not have many liberals and Socialist back after the Revolutionary War. If we had them back then we would never had been a free country. We would still be back in the stone age. To give the Liberals the benefits of the doubt, we may have been in the bow and arrow stage by now. We need self reliant individuals who do not depend on the government for their living. I believe that the oil we have was put here to our advantage and we should use it instead of using oil coming from our enemies. What makes a difference where the oil comes from? It would be much cheaper to drill it here and besides it would give a lot of folks jobs, jobs, jobs. Why can’t the Liberals understand that?

    • JRC

Most people fighting the revolutionary war where liberals…go have some history lessons.

      • Vigilant

        JRC,

Yes, the agitators for change during the Revolution were liberals, even radicals, because they would not accept the status quo. But you fall into a trap if you think today’s liberals are even remotely in sych with the ideals that formed this nation.

Jefferson as an Antifederalist had very liberal ideas for his day, including small government, individual sovereignty and religious freedom. Those ideals are today viewed as conservative ideas, and the liberals are doing everything in their power to take them away from us.

“Conservative” today means a restoration of the Constitution to its rightful place as “the Law of the Land.” It means getting the government out of our way, our lives and our pockets.

      • wayne

Why,JRC, because they were fighting for their freedom? They most likely got tired of paying a tax without any represention. You had better read up on your history.

      • wayne

Bull crap, they only wanted freedom.

      • wayne

Bull crap, JRC, they only wanted freedom. They did not have it from England even though they were being taxed. Nor did they have any say what was happening in England. Even if you were paying a tax to a govenment agency, and you did not have any input, I am sure you would be angry too if you are a normal person.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Different meaning of liberal totally. Back then, those people actually believed in God, and todays liberals dont. The believed in the United States, todays liberals dont. They believed that everyone had a job to do and were expected to do it, todays liberals dont. They all pulled together for the good of the country, todays liberals dont. Big, big difference.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

If the liberals would have had their say so in the olden days, when the red coats came marching towards us with their guns ready, the liberals would have said it wouldnt be fair to shoot at men wide in the open like that, and would have laid down to be taken prisoner, kind of like a french man.

  • wayne

If those stupid folks at Obama’s EPA, not the peoples EPA, are the people who should never drive engines that requires gasoline, or rely on anything that uses gasoline since they want to restrict it so much. Folks, we have to get Obama, and the liberals out of office in 2012, or this nation will be doomed. The folks who do not want to drill for oil should be the ones who do not drive, or use any form of transporation. It will be ok for the rest of us because we do want more drilling in this country. We need to get away from as much foreign oil as we can.

The most important book to what is going on in our country and world with our monetary system, international banking and The Federal Reserve is “The Creature from Jekyll Island”. Everything you ever believed about our country is tuned upside down and is based on money and finance, not only our country but the entire world is dependant on this idea of the New World order and World Bank scheme. I firmly believe that these people that are manipulating our country and completely dismantling our way of life have misjudged the true Patriots of our country. We are at a crossroads and this is our revolution, lets overwhelm the system with a commitment to the TEA party and any other organizations that rejects big government programs & spending, the federal reserve and the New World Order! We need to oppose everything that the IMF, CFR, Federal Reserve, EU and IU wants to do (like an international currency controled by the banking interests), the objective is to take control of our country and make our founders and our future patriots proud of what we have accomplished. This will take time the opposing forces have been working on this agenda for over 100 years, lets’ set the foundation for debate, take our country back and expose these traitors! This is a partnership between the governments of the world, international banking, big business, our media and the Federal Reserve among others and the name of the game is DEBT, the more debt the better, you can see it everywhere, debt means control. Your country could not be in more need anytime since the Revolutionary War, I am all in are you? What this means is to be engaged with the system, being involved in your local elections, write letters, learn more about the history of our country and put your energy into activities and candidates that are willing to do what is necessary and right!

We can do this, I believe in you we need to stop the back and forth attacks on each other and look at the Big Picture, it is right in front of you, do you see it?

    • Joyce from Loris

Patriot, I read that book as well, and it is scary. Yes, I am a strong supporter of the tea party movement, an strongly involved in my local and state government. However, BECAUSE I read the book, I am also a “prepper”, just in case. Some points made by this book gave me room to pause concerning the length of time that it would take to bring our nation back to it’s starting point, in terms of ethics, standards, goals and character. I am an older person, and want to make sure that I and my family EAT, and can live without energy if necessary. I can now make anything that I will need to live, and have stockpiled items that we will need, just in case something goes completely haywire. Better safe than sorry.

      • Vigilant

        Joyce,

A very wise decision, and I’m slowly making myself more energy/food independent as well. However, we need to stop broadcasting this fact. You can bet that if the Feds know about these stashes, they’ll be on our doorsteps the next manufactured crisis, to confiscate the stores.

  • hundabuxt

You’re right. I live in Alaska and we have enough energy resources to sustain America for at least 20 years all by ourselves if we were allowed to exploit them. I don’t mean we have to rape and pillage the environment. We’ve all grown up that way and in equity, nothing comes of any kind of development without some impact on the environment. Either we utilize our own resources or we fall off the cliff with our dependance on those who hate us and use the riches we transfer to them to defeat us. Mexico, Iran, Russia, South America, the entire middle east, Libia, Nigeria and more all hate us but love our money. Can you imagine the effect on America if tomorrow our leaders said that self dependence on energy is a national priority and we will suspend all unreasonable restrictions on development to become no net imports within 5 years to be done in conjunction with new technologies for efficiency? We’re an energy hog, we’re hooked on it and our distribution system, the envy of much of the world, is dependent on it. Everything you see in the stores is delivered by an energy consuming machine. The store shelves are always full. To fail to do something about it while we have some time will mean suffering, serious suffering, because our idiots running this country are making the American dollar worthless and the producers of oil will not take it soon.

The largest sole supplier of oil to the US is Canada. The Arabs supply more in agragate but indexed as a single country it is Canada who supplies the most. That’s why the Arabs are funding all the anti-oilsands adverisements.

The US imports 60% of its oil. The number one oil exporter to the US is Canada.

Clarence . . . oil is a commodity, it is traded around the world . . . just like Copper, Wheat, Corn and Pork Bellies. When something is in short supply . . . the price goes up!!! What a surprise. Remember the price of Copper in 06 and 07. Ditto for Steel. The price of Corn went through the roof when the govt though they could make gasoline out of it. So as the present administration in the WH ramps down exploration . . . and China and INdia are expanding and selling the most cars on the planet . . . who is surprised when the price of Oil goes up???
Didn’t the Bamster say during the campaign . . . “That the price of energy would necessarily go up”??? He’s just keeping a campaign promise.

When we put left wing ideologues in charge of the country, of course it’s going to be a disaster in the making, both economically and politically.

My advice is to stop rolling over and slavishly playing dead.

To restore constitutional order to our economic vitality, the states should unhesitatingly NULLIFY all unconstitutional federal rules, laws and judicial fiats; the energy companies, under the protection of the states, should immediately expand production of domestic energy resources; and Congress should both immediately DEFUND all overreaching federal bureaucracies and seriously threaten IMPEACHMENT of that neo-Marxist interloper in the White House who remains determined to transform our Constitutional Republic into a 2nd rate banana republic.

But, if Americans have lost their nerve, then welcome to the Democratic Socialist Republic of America. We deserve it.

We could talk all day about mistakes of the past. Looking back means not going forward. It is the here and now that we must contend with — one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that there is a plan to destroy America’s economy, period. Why don’t we spend some of that (talk) energy in the proper places where it might do some good. Arguing is the worst waste of time and energy.

That’s right, Bill! Clinton was the biggest embarrassment this nation has ever seen from a president. What a whore. It amazes me to see people reaching out to him, when he is in public, trying to touch him, shake his hand. Yuck!! I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole, that pervert! But I believe that Obama will take the title of biggest embarrassment to our nation from Clinton, not from being a whore, but from being unconstitutionally eligible to serve the office of President, and serving ANYWAY. What a bunch of idiots the American people can be. NOW, we want the laws changed to reflect that vetting must be done prior to running for office. NOW? That should have been done years ago.

            “Sent in by Clarence Swinney?”

You should have said that at the beginning. Another pack of BS from the PAID propogandist of the left.

Just for shucks and grins, I checked out ONE of the claims, that Reagan never mentioned Jesus. How ’bout this:

“At the 1984 annual convention of the National Religious Broadcasters, Reagan not only spoke about religion, but about Jesus Christ: “He promised there will never be a dark night that does not end,” Reagan said. “And by dying for us, Jesus showed how far our love should be ready to go: all the way.”

That’s from http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39119 and there are other examples.

So, kindly quit using valuable bandwidth to post these communist talking points.

My my, someone is full of hate. You keep carrying that anger, it will eat you up inside sir. Now, after all your opinions and lies, I will present some truth you seemingly omitted. We, the United States of America, lived the most properous times of peace ever, under the guidance and leadership of one Ronald Reagan. And sir, just to let you know, I was born and raised democrat, and when Ronald Reagan came around, and I voted against him the first time, after I watched what he did for those first 4 years, I voted for him the second time, and because of him I switched parties. And the democrats since then have totally embraced satan and his ways of lying and stealing and conniving and placing blame, and I want nothing to do them ever again, unless they do a complete about face. They are an embarrassment to politics. JFK would not be a democrat if he were alive today, as he wouldnt stand for this baloney they are embraced in. They have circled the drain, and have gone down it. Now they are in the cess pool, stagnate and stinking.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I guess vigilant done called you out Clarence, pappy, or whoever you are, and exposed you for the liar you are. What a good little democrat to prostitute the truth and tell lies and expect everyone to blindly follow it and accept it as the truth, just as the democrat leaders do to their blind sheeple that buy into every untruth they tell them. You probably still believe Bill Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman, now dont you? Lying jerk.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Obama is the perfect example of the power of advertising Joyce. He bought millions upon million of dollars of TV ads, saying nothing but Change, Change, Change. He never brought up a plan, a course of action, nothing. Just attacking the current admin and saying change. And a dumb, uneducated public bought it, and elected him. Now some have challenged my statement by saying they have a college degree, etc, etc, but that is not what I mean when I said educated. I mean to be educated about the person, as to who they are, what they are, where they are from, where they are going. Who their previous acquantainces are, business partners, etc. None of this was exposed, or even asked of by the liberal press. None of it. Nobody knew, yet uneducatedly, they voted for him, and he got elected. Its just like Miller Lite Beer. I have what they call an educated pallet, where I can taste certain qualities in things, and I used to get to taste test in a brewery I formerly worked at as a young man. Believe me, Miller Lite is the worst tasting beer I have ever tasted, and having talked to a former Miller brewmaster, I found out why. I told him it tastes like you pour a half a glass of beer, and filled it up with water. He informed me that this is exactly how they make it. They brew a half vat of beer and fill it up with water. Yeech. It sure tastes that way to me, and how anybody with any taste buds can drink it is beyond me. But the power of advertising, they spend billions on funny commercials, and tell you it tastes great, and people buy into it. The power of advertising, got this guy elected and thats the bottom line.

He is the worst excuse for a president that we have ever had. He has done more damning things to this country and we are still finding out, but what we know is he raped social security funds, he cut the military and intelligence in half and directly caused 9-11 to happen. He sold our jobs to Mexico, and he sold our technology to China. Plus he defiled the office of the president, his family, his wife and his country. He cause the banks collapse with the freddie mac and fannie mae set up that Barney Frank was supposed to be head of the oversight committee on. And it seems more and more as time passes, we find out more and more damage Slick Willy has caused. And you and I both know there is much more that will come out that they are hiding until after Hillary’s political career is over and Bill is deceased. And this doesnt even go into Vince Foster, Ron Brown, and all the people Clinton had killed. And there were many. Only time reveal how many more demons this guy has.

  • Robin

Is this a global elite conspiracy? Let’s take a walk back in time – think of all the weather related disasters in the past few years – Sri Lanka, Katrina, Gulf Oil Spill, Australia floods, freezing temperatures in Europe, droughts, etc. Look up at the skies and their chemical trails, consider the toxins in our water, the vaccination programs that inject mercury and other harmful substances into our bodies and newborn babies. The GMO in seeds that are leaving the global population with no nutrious food and all the chemicals (insecticides and pesticides that are sprayed on our soil, so our health withers away Think of how our rights and liberties are stripped away. Who stands to gain from the bailouts and the massive amounts of money that don’t reach people and small and medium size business. AND THIS IS ALL IN THE NAME OF???

People wake up and take a stand; this is your life, country and rights. The future generations will suffer but the planet will heal itself.

    • Joyce from Loris

Robin, I love planet earth, it’s my home. But I must point out a few things that I believe. First, the life span of humans have INCREASED during the industrial age of American, by more than 25 years. Second, there were NO FACTORIES or automobiles during the ice age. Planet earth has, and always will, change in it’s climate realm. The New York Times reported that 2010 was the warmest year on record. I don’t know about the rest of the nation, but the South almost froze to death, and we are still freezing! What an outlandish claim for the NYT to make. Yes, the GMO seeds are an atrocity to our health, and we should be more responsible for our OWN nutrition, such as gardening with heirloom seeds and raising our own livestock. But the oil and coal has been under the ground for millions of years, with no contamination. We have to be reasonable, and we have to be good stewards of our planet, but we also have to be able to live and prosper.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Fact is, the planet has cooled since the 70′s. But its all cyclical. It gets cooler, then warmer then cooler. It always has, and probably always will. And man cannot change that. Its cyclical.

      • Vigilant

That great bastion of left wing thuggery, the New York Times, hasn’t enough integrity to explain that weather and climate are two different things. Even if it was the warmest year on record, that proves nothing vis-a-vis climate change. NOTHING.

And to say “on record?” The length of time it would take to record temperatures with any meaningful scientific validity is much longer than the period thay were actually taken. More junk science from the greenies.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I like it when they say, when it is proven to them that things have actually cooled since the 70′s, that they say global warming has caused it to get colder. I have actually heard a couple of these whack jobs, one being Al Gore, actually say this on live TV. Are you kidding me? What a bunch of lying idiots. It gets colder because its warmer? Huh – who knew. Can you say LIARS boys and girls?

Today’s misguided U.S. energy policies coupled with rising global demand and shrinking production may result in a future of depleted enemy reserves, leaving the U.S. controlling globally dominant untapped energy. Let’s pay the high price now to make that wager. While energy money flows abroad, let’s suffer even greater pain by concentrating on creating annual budget surpluses and steadily paying down national debt.

  • Dr. Mabuse

Ok people, I won’t even mention Dubya(wasn’t he an oilman at some point)in this post, seeing that most of ya take umbrage to any reference of his shortcomings. Hundabuxt is more than correct when he states: “We have enough energy resources to sustain America for at least 20 years all by ourselves if we were allowed to exploit them. I don’t mean we have to rape and pillage the environment.” Prudhoe Bay and the North Slope immediately come to mind.
John Myers is nothing but a shill and his ultimate agenda is just lining his pockets with petrodollars.
    Quote:
“This long delay by the Obama administration is costing Big Oil billions of dollars that they have tied up in Gulf projects; projects that are now on hold while petroleum companies pay out thousands of dollars every day on rigs that stand idle.”
Yeah, my heart bleeds for Big Oil…

    http://www.reformation.org/energy-non-crisis.html

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

So I read your mumbo jumbo, whats your point? Is there one you are trying to make, other than demonizing big oil? Sure I wish it were cheaper, and if the government environmental regulations were so high, in order that the enviro’s are getting paid big bucks by big oil, and that taxes werent so high by the government, it wouldnt cost that much at the pump. So demonize the enviro’s because it is half their fault, and demonize taxes, because they are at fault here also. But I myself cannot demonized a successful business. If you got a product, and everybody wants it, hey pal guess what, your going to make a lot of money. And thats the truth. You can demonize them. Demonize Walmart. Demonize pro atheletes. But they all make big money, because they provide something people want. And thats the bottom line. Wouldnt we be much better off as a country if we demonized lazy ass people who wont work and live on the public dole? Or if we demonized illegal immigrats who break the law and come over here and over 50 percent of them are common criminals? Or gang bangers who are out doing nothing but selling drugs, stealing stuff, beating up on people and other evil gang banging duties? These are the things we should be demonizing in this country, along with deviat sexual behavior between the same sex. Its disgusting. Yet all these get a cakewalk free pass, which I assure you God isnt going to give them a free pass. And yet you all want to demonize those who are successful from hard work and giving the people what they need. It just amazes me. It really amazes me.

    MR. MEYERS – EXCELLENT ARTICLE – Thanks…
The news just reported that the ministers of Hezbolla have resigned, toppling Lebanon. I have no idea what that means. Watch T,V. for further info. Mr. Meyers, I agree with your article. Obama must explain to the American people why the explosion of one oil rig is causing him to destroy the wealth of the Gulf States. Why did he send $2B to Brazil for deep-shore oil drilling? It’s time Obama remembers that Americans have elected a Congress to represent them according to the Checks & Balances of the U.S. Constitution. Obama, Americans did not agree to a Dictatorship. Explain!
Americans, call your representatives. (www.house.gov) for House and (www.senate.gov) for the Senate.

CURTIS YOU NEED TO GO TO SOME TEA PARTY MEETING. THEY CAN “TRY” TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT NUT CASE IN THE WHITE HOUSE IS DOING TO MY COUNTRY. YOU ARE ANOTHER LIBERAL THAT JUST DOES NOT GET IT. AND BY THE WAY CURTIS I BET YOU DRIVE AN OBAMA GREEN CAR. WHEN I DRIVE BY YOU STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WILL HONK IN MY GAS GUZZLER THAT I LOVE. LET THE BIG OIL DRILL & DRILL.

    • Curtis

George… you know what happens when you assume? You think I drive “an Obama green car”? (I’ve never heard of Obama green… olive green, Kelly green, lime green… but never Obama green.) Actually George, I drive a Ford Escape (ironically it’s dark green). My SUV is serviced regularly by a local independent (and trustworthy) mechanic and I check the tire pressure every time I fuel it. A well maintained vehicle doesn’t waste fuel or money. Maybe one day I’ll buy a hybrid, but my current vehicle works just fine. My ego doesn’t need a big gas guzzler to compensate for any physical shortcomings.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I dont either Curtis. I drive a fuel efficient Honda CRV, which in reality, has more American made parts in it than 90 percent of GM vehicles. And it is made in Anderson Indiana I believe. But myself, I cannot begrudge a guy that wants to drive a Hummer, or a Suburban or an Escalade or whatever. If they have the money to pay for the gas, more power to them. I dont, so I need me an efficient car, as I drive 25 miles to work everyday. This is my choice. Just as their vehicle is their choice. This is America, and I dont expect them to think and be as I am. They can pick the vehicle of their choosing, and Im alright with that. Ill pay my gas, they pay theirs, and we are all good. I think that makes sense to me.

  • Doug Rodrigues

Obama knows exactly what he is doing. He is putting the pressure on to eventually “force” Governmemt to come “save us.” Eventually, we’ll all be living the life of a pampered comrad in a Socialist Utopia, but only if Obama gets re-elected. Judging by some of the people posting here, it’s easy to see who will be stupid enough to vote for Obama again.

  • Michael J.

Why so suprised? Obama stated during his campaign that:

“What I really want is to get you out of your cars”.
“I do think that at a certain point you;ve made enough money”.
“Under my plan, fuel prices will necessarily skyrocket”.
“To the extent that we’ve got a fiscal crisis right now, part of it is prompted by a bullheaded insistence on the part of the president, for example, that we should extend all of his tax cuts, make all of them permanent”.
“We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent”.

In spite of all the things he said openly, 63% of Americans voted for him, Why? Some Liberals even admit that their white guilt (which only they understand) forced them to pull the lever for Obama just to prove they weren’t predjudice. Some things were taboo and unmentionable such as the potential POTUS’s middle name, Why? Was it because we just finished hanging a man named Hussein? What are the odds that in 1946 the Americans would have elected a man named Tojo? Then only after the inauguration we found out that the presidential first dog had more ligitimate documentation than Obama does.

The thing to be gleaned from our recent experiences is that in politics as in life, that you get what you pay for or vote for. So next time choose a little more wisely.

  • Sharon

I think it is time that America admits and realizes that obama is out to cut us off at the knees with the
rest of the world. He wants a One World Order where he gets to be the Dictator; or maybe George
Soros gets to be Dictator. Obama has knelt before our enemies, kissing their rings, or other parts,
while standing with his hands folded during the pledge of allegiance. He is not one of us. He is out to
undermine America, and on is on the fast track to doing it. The government owns the auto industry, most of the banks, dips into social security for other purposes, (Started by Jimmy Carter, the good old boy from down south) wants to own your medical services, wants to own the internet and monitor everything you do or say, will control our oil production so we are dependent upon obama allies in the middle east. He soon will be asking for all you earn, (those of us who do in fact work) and will then give back to you what he thinks you deserve. He has his 31 Czars to do his bidding. None of them were elected by the people, but they help control you. There is no oversight on them, or on obama. When
Congress was all Democrats, they rammed everything through that they could, until America finally
said enough. It is still time for Americans to stand up and demand their rights, as given to them by the
Constitution. The reason for the Tea Parties was because America needed a voice to speak for themselves. Most of the elected representatives have their own selfish agenda. They are politicians.
You would you hard pressed to find a Statesman among them.

Wasn`t it the housing market that caused the banks to fail through their toxie loan pratice?Who was to keep an eye on Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac who held the paper on most of these loans. Two names come to my mind, Frank and Dodd.Didn`t Pres. Bush try several times to put a stop to Fannie and Fredie, but was stoped by the Democrat congress.
I believe that Frank and Dodd are both Democrats, or should I say
Progressives. It`s funny most of the big banks(Wall Street) failed right before the Presidental election. No one has said a word about that. All the Left can do is blame Pres. Bush . Get real, and lets really find out what went at Fannie and Fredie. I think the Republicans were really outsmarted by the Democrats (or the Progressives )<however, it`s still not to late to find out the truth.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bush called for a full investigation into this banking thing, that was set up by Bill Clinton. But Barney Frank , a top democrat, was named as the head of the oversight committee that was responsible for this thing running on the up and up. Barney had the power, and used it, to shut down any investigation, saying it was all ok. Meanwhile Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick were writing checks like drunken sailors to their democrat friends, and they all got away with it. They should all be in jail. What they did was 10 times worse than what anybody did at Enron. They should all be in jail.

The general elementary school level of discourse on this website is very revealing. Your lack of understanding global economics, the environment, capitalism, “socialism”, and American democracy in general is astounding. I would suggest before you weight in your opinion you take a couple years and study world history, American history, economics, ecology, and civics – then you can have an opinion. Otherwise, you’ll just keep throwing up right wing talking points with little basis in fact. America is really all about “American” multi-national corporations vs. the middle class, corporate power & wealth vs. everybody else. If you are not rich now, you probably never will be. Get it through your heads right wingers – YOU NEVER WILL BE RICH! Please stop voting against your own best interests.

    • 45caliber

I knew I’d never be rich a long time ago. But that doesn’t mean I should vote Democrat. At least I pay for my own living. I don’t need to turn my paycheck over to Uncle and then get a check that leaves me living in a welfare hovel.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thats what I dont get. All the democrats are rich as hell. They own everything it seems, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC. And yet they somehow persuade 95 percent of the black population that they are poor, and that they represent the poor people, and that the Republicans are the rich guys who only represent the rich. Bill Clinton ship all those union jobs to Mexico and screwed them, yet all the unions still give billions to the democrats. Its a lie, and its insane. Why these groups insist on letting themselves be used by a bunch of anti American liars is beyond me. I just dont get it.

Along with Onumnutts, it is the all of the Nazi Soros Socialist Party Smucks that plan for ruination of the USA. When fuel was costing us $5 a gallon. The Stansbury Report said there was over 2 trillion barrels of crude in the Rocky Mountain Area alone. Bush said go drill, since dems controlled Congress from 2007. What did the Soros Socialist bastards do, sit on the information and dream up more regulations. To spout off on global warming b–l s–t and spent billions on worthless green energy. On Sept 14, 2010, the adminstration and the EPA, wouuldn’t give the approval to put in the Trans-Canada Pipeline. It going from Baker Mt to the gulf to sell our crude on the open market, which China is buying up. It would have helped pay off our borrowered debt, but dems love to be under some dictator nation anyway. People were planning the logistics of setting up supply and housing for all the people for 4 years previously. There is more oil in the Baken-Williston Basin than people know. If you check it out the infor published it is several years old. In Oct 2010 a group, wild catted 2 oil well close to Sturgis SD, which were at a dept of 850 feet. Plus they have permits to drill another 25 more wells. Which would tie into the pipeline. As it goes through Olk. it passs by a operating refinery. From landowners in Mt and ND and SD, as well as drilling experts on the ground. Who have been test drilling since early 80′s, they know from facts, there is more crude lying under ground in these 3 states than USGSA will tell.. As this pool keeps expanding it has went from 50 years of life usig present methods of drilling, to over 2000 years. What bastards are sitting on these facts, it is the beltway socialist bastards, democraps and envior rimos who think just like the marxist muslim moron in Cheif. This green and envior crap is one giant waste of taxpayers money and is decades away from being cost effective, Well it is just more 1960 drug heads being in power, Onumutt’s dam and sire were in the hippy dippy drug useage crap, as well as te jug eared purple lipped muslim was in drug and substance abuse, Best thing to do it make all beltway smucks go thru consant drug testing, like all employees for any job has too, we employ these jackasses. I wonder …

Since we get a lot of our oil from OPEC, I wonder if they have simply told Oblama that if we try to drill for our own oil, they will cut us completely off. We buy from them or else we don’t have oil at all… at least until we get the wells drilled and refineries made.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

What a hogwash article. Isn’t it time for the right to WAKE up and see who is really calling for drilling in the US. It is NOT common sense, its the corporations that want to make profit NOW and it is the Oil rich countries that know that for each day the US is NOT drilling the day of reckoning comes closer for them. Oil is a finite resource, At this point in time, Oil is still plentiful in the Oil producing countries…but….the overall availability does goes down. Demand will not go down no mater what for a long time. So, With the US not drilling and using up its reserves the time will come where all those countries will run low on oil…all but the US. If we squander out reserves now, we will be screwed later and for what? Does anyone really believe the cost of oil products will go down just because we drill and produce here? NOPE, because the demand will be still high and the domestic production will be sold at the same price. To drill now is extremely short sighted for the people. The only ones that will make a huge profit are the corporations that rape the land and thus in the future put our kids and grand kids even more into bondage to the other oil producing countries at a time of actual shortage. I can not understand the short sighted right in this country that will give up a precious resource like oil for nothing and by doing that screw the future of our descendant’s….is that the type of morality and family thinking the right enjoys? If so, you are sick people.

Son you need to understand the facts of life. If the drilling program is handled properly, we’ll come out ahead. • chuckb

if you want to get a more true picture of where all this energy debate started, here’s jimmy carters speech in 1979:

What I have to say to you now about energy is simple and vitally important.

Point one: I am tonight setting a clear goal for the energy policy of the United States. Beginning this moment, this nation will never use more foreign oil than we did in 1977 — never. From now on, every new addition to our demand for energy will be met from our own production and our own conservation. The generation-long growth in our dependence on foreign oil will be stopped dead in its tracks right now and then reversed as we move through the 1980s, for I am tonight setting the further goal of cutting our dependence on foreign oil by one-half by the end of the next decade — a saving of over 4-1/2 million barrels of imported oil per day.

Point two: To ensure that we meet these targets, I will use my presidential authority to set import quotas. I’m announcing tonight that for 1979 and 1980, I will forbid the entry into this country of one drop of foreign oil more than these goals allow. These quotas will ensure a reduction in imports even below the ambitious levels we set at the recent Tokyo summit.

Point three: To give us energy security, I am asking for the most massive peacetime commitment of funds and resources in our nation’s history to develop America’s own alternative sources of fuel — from coal, from oil shale, from plant products for gasohol, from unconventional gas, from the sun.

I propose the creation of an energy security corporation to lead this effort to replace 2-1/2 million barrels of imported oil per day by 1990. The corporation I will issue up to $5 billion in energy bonds, and I especially want them to be in small denominations so that average Americans can invest directly in America’s energy security.

Just as a similar synthetic rubber corporation helped us win World War II, so will we mobilize American determination and ability to win the energy war. Moreover, I will soon submit legislation to Congress calling for the creation of this nation’s first solar bank, which will help us achieve the crucial goal of 20 percent of our energy coming from solar power by the year 2000.

These efforts will cost money, a lot of money, and that is why Congress must enact the windfall profits tax without delay. It will be money well spent. Unlike the billions of dollars that we ship to foreign countries to pay for foreign oil, these funds will be paid by Americans to Americans. These funds will go to fight, not to increase, inflation and unemployment.

it’s obvious all this debate on oil shortage and dependence is created by the politicians in power, what better source of people control can they devise than a communist type government. if you are a political body seeking control of a nation where could you find a tool better than energy?3
at present we are being led by people with a third world mentality and they are destroying the infrastructure of the u.s. to build a more socialistic society. we have more oil than any nation on earth and more natural gas. natural gas is infinite, we have known oil reserves that will last for more than two hundred years.

    • chuckb

one other comment about the control of our energy: the democrats have either held control of the presidency or the congress to block any efforts to drill for oil on the u.s. continent.

Not much press coverage for such a potentially huge impact move by the Big O (article below).

This is equaled by the complete lack of coverage of the Folly of the alternate energy hoopla.

Wind and solar require energy STORAGE capability that does not currently exist. Without such, standard resources (fossil fuel or nuclear) must not only continue to exist but must be kept running!

The environmentalists avoid any discussion of what we do when the sun “don’t shine” and the wind dies down. You can’t flip a switch and turn on a coal, natural gas, or nuclear resource.

So, unless you’re willing to suffer regular, unplanned, power outages, the requirement for, cost of, and environmental impact of continuing to run our traditional power sources will go on WITH, OR WITHOUT a huge investment in alternate energy production.

Even if alternate energy sources (wind / solar) were available, and competitive in energy production costs, (which they aren’t), we would gain little or nothing until we have a, yet to be discovered, energy storage capability.

Bottom line: Obama continues to follow the “How to destroy a country” play book. So far, he’s been quite successful. And the media, and scientific community, continues to be complacent.

You can add this to the list.

  • Paul Connors

    To Josh B:

Voting against our interests? Really? What has Obama done for the benfit of the Middle Class except pander to Far LEFT groups and foreign interests that do NOT have the interests of USA and its people in mind. By limiting oil and gas production here, he FORCES us to pay more for oil and gasoline that could be and SHOULD BE produced here.

In short, Obama is both an economic and political TRAITOR to the USA and the people who live here.

Some people will complain about good or bad. If you think you can perform the duties of a United States president, run for president. Bush did. Don’t sit back complaining about what Obama is doing. This man took over a total mess, and I think he is doing a wonderful job. They say the health reform is not good. What did Bush do? They said Obama is not doing anything about the illegals. What did Bush do? Clinton wanted to close the borders for 15 years. They didn’t want him to do that. Stop whining like babies. Who cares about the housing crises, the housing market will always go up and down. but jobs should never be a problem, if you can’t find work create a job, oh but the problem with that is our government has made it so difficult and costly. they do nothing but tell us what we cant do. this country could continue to prosper and be the great nation we once where if our government would scale down and get out of our business.
The way I see it is our government waged war on it’s people and is holding us hostage for ransom, ransom we are to pay our selfs for our own freedom, but the catch is they keep wanting more so you will never be free. So I say fight, keep fighting to the bitter end.

I dont know where you are getting your information, but in the last three years large oil companies have been trying to sell refinerys in this country and outright closing others.

    • http://gunner689 gunner689

That is because the EPA regs are to stringent. Here in western Pa. we used to have 12 refineries now we have 2. Considerable loss of jobs. It’s now cheaper to truck the oil to out of state refineries than spend the tens of millions needed to bring older refineries up to gvt. standards.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That is because sir, Pennsylvania let the democrats run it year after year after year, and they ran it into the ground. Then they turn and elect Arlen Specter, a Democrat who called himself a Republican, who then became a democrat, and what a mess. I believe this last election they finally got tired of it up there and booted the democrats out. Maybe if they keep the republicans around for awhile, they can get some jobs back, because as we all know, the evil republicans like business to set up shop and hire people and be successful. How some can demonize that is beyond me, but at least the Republicans will help business to make jobs for people, and that is much better than the other side, who taxes them to death and closes them.

  • paul 1776

I agree, I don’t want to hear anymone about the tax cuts for the wealthy since I fall into that catagory and I welcome the tax cut. I made my money because of Countrywide and Washington Mutual that made 100% loans on the houses I built.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

My question to those who keep lambasting tax cuts, is why do you want to take these tax cuts away from those who are paying all the taxes? And most of the people that bitch about it, arent paying any at all, and if they are, it is very miniscule. Its like the Barstool Economics thing that goes around. Those with the most pay the most, and if you piss them off and they leave, guess who is left holding the bag? I guess Im considered rich by them, at 50 grand a year, because the tax cuts helped me out, and not just the upper millionaires like the democrats try to tell us all. Why must they lie all the time like this? Why?

Oil and natural gas are commodities. They are used for many purposes besides fuel. It’s a world wide commodity whose price fluctuates primarily with the value of the dollar. An assestment was made based on the price of a gallon of gasoline, one of the by-products of refining crude oil. This assesment was made a few years ago when oil was about $ 75. per barrel and gasoline was around $2.85 per gallon.
The oil companies that find the oil, extract the oil, refine the oil, transport the oil, advertise the oil, operate the gas stations, and sell the oil; made approx. 13 cents per gallon in profit. The various levels of gvt., which played no role, other than hinder and regulate the oil industry, made between 85 cents and $1.25 per gallon in taxes. This situation exists today, only the base numbers change. Now, who is gouging and where can the price of a gallon of gas be cut?
I am part owner in a small, independent oil company. The hardest part and most time consuming part of the job is filing out drilling permit requests from the State EPA. There are 18 pages of forms that must be filled out, along with surveys and engineering drawings, for each well we drill. It takes the State at least 55 days to grant approval to drill on the leases we own. We can drill, complete, and have a well producing oil and gas within two weeks and finish the site restoration project within another week.
Now with all that being considered, where does the problem lay ? We employ several people directly and hundreds more in service and contract work. Right now it is one of the very few industries actively working in our state and there are those in the State House who want to create more cumbersome regulations or kill the industry all together.

    • Sunshine49

It’s nice to get some information from the horse’s mouth for a “change”! Thanks.

According to reports I’ve read, there’s more than a trillion dollars that is unaccounted for by the Fed. This money is on OUR tab. It’s more than just government greed here.

Oil drilling, oil prices and all the rest are just part of the game that the powers that be are playing with the world. The name of the game is called New World Order and the people are just pawns in these power plays. Their true agenda is to bankrupt the world to gain total control over everything. Kinda like Revelations and the Antichrist.

It doesn’t seem like enough people are going to wake up before it’s too late, but the government is doing it for OUR OWN GOOD — don’t ya know! So the majority of people should be happy when we lose all our freedoms and everything is rationed to us according to our NEED — that’s IF the One World Order thinks we are even WORTH feeding. We will all be equal in this world like Obama and his minions want. Equally slaves! Isn’t equality just great? We will all live happily ever after in “their” Utopia! At least until Jesus returns to screw up their agenda!

So, they will win for a very short while and the world will be Hell, but it will pass and there will be a REAL Utopia on Earth for a CHANGE! That’s the “change” I “hope” to live for!

In the mean time, we can keep fighting their takeover any way we can. We can say we are doing it for God, country and the American way because that’s the TRUTH!

You are too immature, all those countrie’s oil business work on sharing contract bases and the biggest profiteers are the drilling companies, mostly Americans and Europians. The gasoline price is $ 3:00 a gallon (3.7 Litres) when the barrel of crude is $ 70, and it was $3:00 when the crude was $140. Who is benefitting now ? Is it the BP Gulf Oil disaster recovery we are paying for? You should thank those countries that they are still trading the crude in DOLLARS, if they convert to a basket of currencies, like Euro or Yen which Libya and Iran were suggesting, then definitely the Gas here will be $10 a gallon. Our Europian counterparts are already paying that much for a gallon ( 4.55 litres ). The Govt. is a major beneficiery by levying taxes, directly and indirectly.

    • proctologists for obama

Oil goes up because the value of the dollar is going down. Oil is traded in dollars and therefore the price must rise as the value of the dollar falls.

      English lesson:
      country = singular
      countries = plural
      country’s = singular possessive
      countries’ = plural possessive

What do you mean by countrie’s?

  • Sunshine49

I don’t care what anyone says — I don’t believe that the government had the Constitutional RIGHT to create any of these agencies to regulate the people. Just like the Patriot Act and Homeland Security are used more to control the people then they are to stop terrorists. If they wanted to stop terrorists they would CLOSE the border and DEPORT illegals! They created some of these agencies to help find “better” fuels over 30 years ago and they still haven’t done a damn thing to “help” except regulate the people MORE!

Every STATE should handle it’s OWN environmental issues along with it’s crime, education, the poor and elderly! If the states had control, people would be able to control everything in their OWN
State according to the needs of their OWN State! That’s the way it is supposed to be according to the Constitution! Now, because everything is centered around Washington, the people don’t have any say in what the politicians are doing. They just make more “laws” and we are forced to go by them! If we don’t go back to Constitutional “law” — we are toast!

With the way that Obama has spent us into oblivion and the healthcare
bill set to control every breath we take — we’re probably toast already!

Homeland security is what has kept us safe since 9-11. Had not Clinton cut intelligence in half, 9-11 never would have happened. There was no one to monitor them or catch them. With Homeland Security, intelligence has been beefed up, and we constantly catch these guys before the fact, because we hear their phone conversations, and we have guys to follow them and catch them. So I would count that as a good thing. Or we can do what Clinton did, and fire them all, throw all that money into another pile and tell everyone we balanced the budget, while terrorists are setting up shops all over to blow up more and more stuff. Its kind of like that.

I recently read an article that said that the majority of terrorist attacks that were prevented were because of alert citizens who reported odd activities. My point is that we have terrorists pouring over the border, but our government sues Arizona for trying to enforce immigration laws. What kind of garbage is that?

I have to laugh at what you said about Clinton because it’s the exact opposite of what CLARENCE SWINNEY said about Clinton. According to him we wouldn’t even have a terrorist program if it wasn’t for Clinton. I also remember that the military quit in droves when Clinton was President. Then when he had the chance to take bin Laden out, he wouldn’t give the order! More government garbage.

If you have the time, read the Patriot Act. It’s great! They can throw an American citizen under the jail with no habeas corpus if they want to. Also the President can declare Martial Law WITHOUT Congress’ approval! I just love what the government has done to the Constitution in the name of preventing terrorism!

That was my point! Any excuse will do for the government to try and control us more!

Open your eyes, our govt. does not run things anymore, and hasn’t for many years, they are puppets for the elite rich. They are just doing what they are told, all for the love of the almighty dollar, and to keep for turning up dead or missing. The dollar is soon to be worthless anyway, just ask the Fed, they’ll print more. Ha-ha.

Gunner689: Just out of curiosity did some googling and found your comment on gas taxes totally bogus. You claim the taxes are between 85 cents nd $1.25 a gallon.Wrong The highest gas tax is in Washington state at 37 cents Pennsylvania 33 cents and the rest are lower some in the teens.I think the bad man here is the oil company and the speculators.

Hey, we want clean energy sources not cancer causing oil and gas – we want wilderness areas to remain intact – it is wildlife habitat – 95% of creatures are gone already. “In Wilderness is the Preservation of the World”…thoreau

You people don’t understand the basis of what it is happening in our Country today. The comunist, who are the enemies of our Nation have been trying to destroy us for over seventy or many more years. They tried with drugs, in order to weaken our children, becoming drug addicts. They have been trying to divide our people with all kind of laws about discrimination, homoxesuality, woman rights, minority laws and the list go on and on. They tried with wars, but they failed, as we are the must powerful nation on the face of this planet earth today. They tried with corrupt and weak polititians. They failed again. Now, they are trying to destroy our Nation economy and they are getting very good marks. In order to do this, they have been waiting for many years for a person from a minority group with good personality, no brain, but a good public speaker, who could follow the rules of the book without asking questions and who will try by all means to destroy our economy in order to bring our Nation to its knees. I think that if we don’t do something real soon or if a Miracle happens, they are almost there.

Have to love the Clinton-lovers. They never mention his largest accomplishment, which took place in the broomcloset @ The Whitehouse, or that he turned down the offer to grab Osama Bin Laden. Bill Clinton and his ‘bull’, wife take a back-seat only to BHO for the most blatant crooks in our political history. And, Obama-lovers have to be near brain-dead, blind, deaf, without formal education, without patriotic senses/feelings for the good of America, and the principles that made it great. Since Reagan, politicians on both sides have been sellng America down the river, but they are all gods in comparison to Barack Hussein Obama, who is deliberately destroying every principle that made America what it is, or ‘was’, until he oozed into (squatted), into our Whitehouse. Obama the anti-Christian dictator is trying to literally take over daily life, in two years has bloated government enormously, spent beyond imagination, and has the gall to deliver a SOTU address announcing MORE spending, calling it ‘investing’. Every single campaign promise that 52 % of Americans swallowed, have proved to be exactly reversed of his words.
A more glaring crook has never emerged into our political Arena.
BHO should go down in history as the most fatal-error of the American voter.

tWO THINGS AMERICA CAN THANK CLINTON FOR:
    1. Giving the reactor to No. Korea (without which No.K. would have never been a threat) Now America can worry not only will N.K.deliler but will they sell it to Al Qaeda.
    2. NAFTA: which successfully destroyed the trucking industry of USA
AND in addition, trailors full of illegals were dispersed around USA
entrenched forever on all entitlement programs and taking American jobs. Today, there are 20 million Americans UNEMPLOYED and as many
ILLEGALS RIDING HIGH IN AMERICA ON JOBS THAT BELONG TO AMERICANS.
And today, his wife? is devoted to undermining American Sovereignty by deferring to the very humungously corrupt U.N. Once upon a time, I thought that lady was smart. Since she took the occasion in a FOREIGN COUNTRY to annouce obama’s plans to bring ONE OF OUR OWN UNITED STATES TO COURT, we don’t have to pretend we don’t know about the Clintons anymore.
