Speaking of The TEA Party? That would be the T.axed, E.nough A.lready Party?

Or would that just be ” a party”? which includes Michele Bachmann from MN who raised
23 foster kids……..for which the current rate of re-imbursement is $585/mo/child or $7020/yr.

The deduction for dependent children on your federal income tax return is $3,650/yr.

Add a little farm subsidy money, mandatory mental health care benefit included in
health insurance coverage, as well the income from her day job as a TAX ATTORNEY,
when she was a private citizen……and we have a very clear picture of the ” rugged, self reliant, entrepreneurial individualist” that should be an inspiration to everyone.

With that kind of energy, just imagine how much MORE she could have accomplished
if the “government” hadn’t gotten in her way………….you do the math.

      GALT says:
“Or would that just be ” a party”? which includes Michele Bachmann from MN who raised
23 foster kids……..for which the current rate of re-imbursement is $585/mo/child or $7020/yr.”

$161,460 year x 18 = 2.9+ million (2,906,280) over EIGHTEEN YEARS. (worst case assumption that all 23 were taken on at 0 and raised to 18 in parallel)

GALT says: “The deduction for dependent children on your federal income tax return is $3,650/yr.”

A mere $65,700. hardly a drop compared to above.

GALT: “Add a little farm subsidy money, mandatory mental health care benefit included in
health insurance coverage, as well the income from her day job as a TAX ATTORNEY…”

      “you do the math.”

I did. Using the only numbers you bothered to provide and presuming they are correct without asking you for proof.

Now let’s look at just one other person (since you chose to talk about just 1)

For 4 years of playing golf.
      Salary – $400,000 * 4 = $1.6 MILLION.
      expense account -$50,000 * 4 = $200,000
      Non-taxable travel account – $100,000 *4 = $400,000
      entertainment – $19,000 * 4 = $76,000

Total for just 4 years is 2.2 MILLION. (2,278,000)

Now lets presume he does NOT get re-elected. He will get
$191,300 per year pension and might also collect a congressional pension.

$191,300 * 14 = 2.6 MILLION to just sit around. No special work

Add to that an office and staff (included in the pension) we are talking some serious math.

At least Ms Bachmann had to spend time raising those kids rather than playing golf. (Source of numbers)

And I left out all the special subsidies that Presidents get while in office. Check the link.

      • GALT

Interesting comparison…….the numbers are easily verified by a simple search for foster children in MN…….btw that is the current rate for those under 16………….and I imagine that
Mrs Bachmann’s tax return’s are available………so it might be something interesting to pursue further, should the mood strike……..but the point was the rather ironic hypocrisy
of her TEA party affiliation……since her families finances and the activities listed are all
dependent on the “government”…….although it is possible that some income may be involved in actual agricultural production.

Your comparison would be more appropriate if you chose Jack Welch, and the comparitive size of the budget’s they manage, employee’s etc…………GE may be large, but I doubt
it compares at all with being responsible for “governments assets” and a government budget of for fun’s sake…….2.5 trillion a year…….

However I was under the impression that once out of office, the pay remained the same….at least for ex-president’s…….so this is “new information”….thank you. Still i could probably manage to struggle by on $191, 300 retirement…….although what is the significance of 14……is there a limit to the number of years you can collect it…..that would also be new information.

      • vicki

No limit indicated by the source. 14 years was 18 years – 4 years in office. I chose to not point out that though Ms. Bachmann would stop collecting (presumes she was collecting) as the children became 18 whereas the Presidential pension might well continue for a lot more than 14 years.

      • vicki

Since Galt contiues to evade giving actual numbers or even evidence the Ms Bachmann received the payments I decided to look them up.

My research shows that foster care is county by county and Ms. Bachmann was (as is all foster care) HIRED by the government to supply a service. As such your criticism of her is out of place and if you don’t like your government hiring contractors for specific (and difficult) jobs then tell them to stop already.

Of course anyone raising a child would know how much work it really is. Golfing all day would be much easier even as a caddy.

      • GALT

Since vicki seems to have a problem following along or is blind or can not read and missed the $585/mo/child ACTUAL NUMBER that was posted as well as the “other numbers”, comparing the “hired” ( licensed ) yearly costs v. what the government believes is necessary for a parent to raise their own child…….I did another search.

Which are the effective rates beginning on Jan 1, 2012 and pays a day rate of

        • Daily Basic Maintenance Foster Care Rates
The daily basic maintenance rates to be paid to child foster care providers for service dates
beginning January 1 through December 31, 2012 are as follows:
        Ages birth through 11 $ 21.06 x 30 = 631.80
        Ages 12 through 14 $ 24.24 x 30 = 727.
        Ages 15 through 20 $ 25.09 x 30 = 752.70

However, this can be adjusted upwards depending on a D.O.C. evaluation, at a rate
of 22 cents/ day per point of difficulty ( of care. ) which could increase the daily rate
to as much as 70.56 to 74.59 or 2116.80/mo……25,401 per year/per/child………actual
parents still receive only a deduction of 3,650 a year/child/dependent as REAL PARENTS apparently do not have children that are difficult.

Foster parents are PAID from 7581 to a maximum of 27225 per year per child, while a parent has to earn this money first and then is allowed to keep it…….two median wage earners per family would bring in about 50,000 gross income, while foster parents are PAID that much for raising 7 normal kids or two extremely difficult ones……Mrs Bachmann
raised 23, toiled in the fields, provided mental health care and worked as a tax attorney
all at the same time… well as campaigning for her present job, and for president, and
managed to do all this in a fashion that would make June Cleaver very proud.

These rates do not seem to be differentiated by county, but then vicki didn’t provide any
        actual numbers…….or a source…….

      • Vicki

        GALT writes:
“These rates do not seem to be differentiated by county, but then vicki didn’t provide any
        actual numbers…….or a source…….”

True but you finally did. Keep up the good work.

      • GALT

Finally? The first number was accurate… in the “current rate”…….and I never post
        things without a source……….

But why spoil the fun……..and deprive those who can not resist responding and sharing
their opinion…….whose only source is their own imagination………and they are such slow learner’s…………

See a dope, provide the rope……..

I guess that goes hand in hand with the [brain] dead people on the right who blindly follow Romney and couldn’t say one positive thing about The President of the United States if their lives depended on it!

    • Bev

What’s nice to say about a guy who is so unqualified for the job that he’s ruining our country. Please think about this for just a minute. Here’s guy who is member of the Communist Party, Muslim Brotherhood and the Down Low club. He won the election in Chicago by burying the other guy in slander. He’s attempting to do the same to Romney (unfortunately for Obama, besides making a boatload of money Romney is squeaky clean). He was in office for 143 days and decided that he was qualified to run for President. After only 12 days in office he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. And here is another little factoid, he accepted the award for being the most transparent behind closed doors. The guy is a liar, a cheat, and just an all around nasty person and I don’t care what color his skin is. If he’s so wonderful as you claim then why are all of his records sealed up tighter than Pete’s hatband. How was he able to travel to P-o-k-istan when that country was off-limits to US people. Does he perhaps hold another citizenship? And what about the ring that he wears on his left hand ring finger that’s inscribed in Arabic with some Muslim saying?

You bet I’ve got nothing nice to say about a guy who acts like a petulant child when he doesn’t get his own way. I personally was expecting to see a grown up in the Oval Office. Obama has had everything except one handed to him his entire life and I hope he gets that handed to him on November 7, 2012

Bev, if I could do it, I’d make it a requirement that every potential voter in Amerika read a book by a man named Gasparino [Bought and Piad For]. It rips the rest of Obummer’s masks off, and shows utopians for what they really are – traitors, freedom-haters and two-legged vermin.
NO ONE in Washington is in bed with Wall Street worse than Obummer. The secrets are out there. Your clock is ticking, utopians. Some thought McCain was Amerika’s Manchurian Candidate. Obummer has that unconscionable, dubious honor, and he’ll own it for the rest of his miserable life.

    • s c

J, he didn’t call him a LOSER to his face – but I will. As for dead voters, I never thought I’d
live long enough to see two classes of dead voters. That is, 1) dead and 2) braindead.
