Obamacare And The Fourth Of July

Last week, while the rest of us toiled to pay her salary, House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-her husband’s bank account) took a moment away from her fabulously opulent life to remind us how lucky we are to live in the land of the formerly free and the home of the enslaved.

According to the erstwhile Speaker-ette:

Next week when we celebrate Independence Day, we’ll also be observing health independence. This marks one year since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The Affordable Care Act offers just that: A healthier life, liberty [to] pursue [a] person’s happiness, to be free of constraint, the job locked, uhh, because they’re policy locked. So, if you wanted to be a cameraman, a writer, you want to be self-employed, if you want to start a business, if you want to change jobs — whatever is you want to do — you are free.

It might be the Botox talking, but Madame Minority Leader clearly misunderstands the phrase “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Actually, I suspect she understands the Founders’ intent perfectly well; she just doesn’t care. After all, she sits atop a mountain made of millions of dollars in cash, at least some of which was not built through insider trading. And her immense wealth essentially exempts her from the guaranteed cost increases, shortages and death panels she and President Barack Hussein Obama assured us wouldn’t occur. Pardon me, Ms. Pelosi, but it’s “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” It’s not “life, except for inconvenient babies; liberty, except for groups targeted for political hits by the Internal Revenue Service; and happiness, as long as you’re a member of the Democrat elite.”

Fortunately for the rest of us, the only thing Democrats like more than imposing their will on the rest of us is winning elections so they can impose their will on the rest of us. And that ambition has led them to relent on the imposition of Obamacare until the beginning of 2015. However, the delay affects only employers with more than 50 workers. The soul of any functionally free nation — the individual — has earned no such reprieve. The fact that the semi-delay was announced less than a week after Pelosi’s ludicrous speech extolling Obamacare’s supposed virtues, in combination with the shocking dishonesty the Democrats have displayed regarding its real details, reveals that they’re hardly prepared to throw in the towel. They’re not retreating; they’re reloading.

And considering the recent incidents in which the Democrats have treated the people whom they purport to rule about as well as the death panel will treat your grandmother, we should remember what Independence Day is supposed to be all about. In 1776, 237 years ago, what might well have been the greatest collection of intellects ever assembled in one room. They were appalled by the madness of King George III, repelled by his murderous methods and determined to reassert man’s unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They midwifed the birth of not only a new Nation, but a new idea:  freedom of the people, by the people and for the people.

On Independence Day, I will add: “…and from the government.”

Well on this our 237th Independence Day, it’s comforting to see at least one country, (Egypt) has a people who value it’s freedom enough to do something about it. My prayer is for the citizens (subjects) of this once great nation of ours, could gather TOGETHER, long enough to throw out the people in charge here and ONCE AGAIN become a FREE NATION….GOD BLESS AMERICA…..PLEASE

    • monizame

      well??

  • CommonwealthHotel Buildings -

the 4th of July is your Independence Day and funnily enough today is our own independence day because today we DECLARED OUR INDEPENDENCE in ST ARNAUD VIC 3478 from the Australian Socialist Government and the Local Shire of Northern Grampians in the State of Victoria, because we re not happy about their anti business activities in trying to stifle business activity in this wealthy farming community which started off during the Gold Strike of 1856. The gold yielded high and millions of ounces where extracted from the rich veins , but this stopped due to the rising underground water table. There is still plenty of gold under our town just waiting for the right technology to be developed.

    MEDIA RELEASE & DECLARATION

The St Arnaud independent sovereign state was formed this day 4th July 2013 by separating from the Northern Grampians Shire Republic jurisdiction and the Commonwealth of Australia and is now inviting other land owners to expand the empire surrounding the Commonwealth Hotel Buildings and adjoining landholdings in St Arnaud and we also invite new potential business immigrants who wish to either come to work and live in the Western Victoria township f St Arnaud without expectation of getting any Australian government support although we do offer dual citizenship status. Business Migrants who wish to come to operate a business in our dual currency of $AU dollars are also invited.

Immigrants or other business visitors who can get a visitors visa from Europe/UK/USA/CANADA legally are invited to come visit St Arnaud Vic 3478 in Australia and apply for residency. If you are honest and do not have any criminal intentions then you will be welcomed to join our New State and enjoy the benefits of free unfetted enterprise following most of the general laws of Australia.

The State is headed by a benevolent dictator permitting most free enterprise activities without being restricted by government red tape and officialdom of the Local Government Republic of Northern Grampians or the local Commandant of Police and his band of merry men. Foreign banks may be also invited to set up branches in our new State as long as they continue to be under the control of the RBA. [Reserve Bank of Australia]

Please reply if you are genuinely interested to become part of a new thriving business community. There are many opportunities and jobs in various agribusiness and tourism areas, just waiting to be expanded by your enthusiasm and hard work. The dictator pictured above is a forward thinking and positive thinking guy who has plenty of economic, banking & investment experience and will easily understand any ideas you may wish to promote. The town has many active investors doing their own thing but denied their true potential by officialdom, who wish to run the business people and their private properties as their own property to be exploited with excessive regulations and taxes.

Our new State offers great opportunities for those expecting a recession in the general economy currently being exploited by corrupt politicians who want to hang on to their power at any cost by changing to a popular ‘leader’ who had previously been retired early due to behavioral problems. Which responsible political party would re-instate and risk our total nation on such a person for even until the next election result.? I consider the socialists government and the Greens who supported the change a disgrace and now we have a former [Conservative Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser showing his true colours by supporting the Socialist Greens Party in Australia during the coming elections campaign. It’s not the first time that we have had pretenders of Free Enterprise and democracy show their Green socialist colours after they have retired…we used to call them….in the woodpile or snakes in the grass and these people still exist in the Conservative Liberal Party in Australia s well as in your Republican Party.

We also invite the two Shire Cr Jim Anderson & Cr Tony Driscoll who represent the St Arnaud area to seriously consider making an application to separate from the Northern Grampians Shire Council area who are demonstrating anti business growth policies in their actions not their words.

St Arnaud is very well placed to grow substantially if it were not for those wishing to stop enterprise growth inconsistent with the Victorian State Government new changed Planning Scheme guidelines. It is unclear whether the [Conservative] State Government is supporting the suppression of any growth possibilities for the St Arnaud area behind closed doors, however I challenge the State Government to give St Arnaud its FREEDOM to self determination and to expand all manner of business activities which the new Planning Scheme offers landowners, but for which the old Planning & Health regime appears to be against progress despite that the town has been established for over 150 years on gold wealth which still lies below our streets and still being explored by some mining companies.

We will be contacting these Mining Lease holders to see what they will be doing to get that gold out of the ground using the new methods available to miners and to give them the opportunity to do more if the current State laws are too restrictive we may give them the opportunity to use our site for drilling purposes.

This is an exciting time for our new State and we invite scrutiny from the general media, but more importantly from local and overseas investors and potential immigrants. and I urge readers to have a look at flood free St Arnaud in Victoria Australia for farming machinery, silo manufacturing, turkey breeding and processing and lots of fertile farming and grazing land. use Google its so easy.

    • dan

good on you ! Looks like a wonderful area and sounds like good folks.
You might consider the example of the Conch Republic :
declare independence , declare war and immediately surrender and wait for the repatriation monies to start rolling in…

many thanks…. looks like a delightful read.

I learned of the conch Republic in 1972….

consider myself a citizen pro forma. It’s more than a
state of mind… we have our own passports
          so it must be official.

  • monacall

god bless Egypt and their independence…..

    • monizame

at least they had the balls to oust a traitor.

      • monizame

also hats off to their military..

It’s weird how so many ‘so-called’ intelligent people can accept Pelosi pushing a health care plan on them which she has no intention of participating in herself. In fact, it will be a big, big surprise if ANY of the elite participate.

    • mari

Why would they? They consider themselves superior to the citizens that they rule. (They do not understand the concept of representation.) They deem themselves entitled to only the best of everything. We are just here to serve them and their comforts…yes that does sort of sound like slavery.

And so, on this fine morning, I open up the front page of the Chicago tribune newspaper and I find a full page add for a “Godless Constitution”. Further along, there’s cartoons about Paula Deen and a featured article pushing for a “carbon tax” and last but not least, an article about repubs refusing to address some of the haphazardly written provisions of the non-affordable health care act although it also mentions that some dems are afraid to “touch” it as well because that may be viewed as a admission of a failed bill. Oh and lest I forget, there is also mention of the overthrow of the “islamist muslim brotherhood” party in Egypt but warns of further trouble because they were not “allowed” to complete their first term. How unfair!
Have a “Happy Independence Day” fellow patriots, I sense the “workload” increasing!

    • Vis Fac

A workload that will increase until we rid ourselves of TYRANNY

That Pelosi has to be buttkisser of all buttkissers. Doesn’t it seem like it?

    • fueler335

Seems to me that anyone that kisses pelosi’s face is an abject buttkisser.

Thanks, Ben, for all that you have done to try to protect the basic rights and liberties of American citizens. Unfortunately, fear and loathing of the energy that vaporized Hiroshima and Nagasaki sixty-eight years ago convinced world leaders to take totalitarian control over all nations and operate as rulers, not servants of the public.

An open message to members of the Space Science & Technology Committee of the US House of Representatives is posted at the top of my web page today to celebrate this,

The 237th birthday of this once Great Nation, and to seek an end to

Sixty-eight years (2013-1945 = 68 yrs) of deceptive government science.

    Comments, pro/con, would be appreciated.

    With kind regards,

Man Obama is so GREAT I’m overwhelmed, completely flabbergasted.

    Q. Does Obamacare cover people with pre-existing conditions?

    A. Yes,Yes it does but by the time it is fully implemented they won’t be
able to afford it and they will be right back where they started from
except now they will have to pay a tax/fine for not having health
insurance, but we will have 16,500 new IRS workers and thousands of more
social workers from the former ACORN now known as Community
Organizations International. Isn’t it odd how they knew the number of
IRS people to be hired to enforce the law? Sounds like they had a head
count for constituents to get $30-$45k jobs with full benefits funded by
the taxpayers that are heading into more poverty..
