Obama To CBC: Stop Whining; Maxine Waters Complains

Obama To CBC: Stop Whining; Maxine Waters Complains

Representative Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who told the Tea Party to “go to hell” about a month ago, had a message for President Barack Obama Monday after he essentially asked the Congressional Black Caucus to shut up over the weekend.

Obama gave a speech at the Congressional Black Caucus’s annual dinner on Saturday, and he chastised the black electorate for its criticism of his failure to show public favoritism to black constituents.

“I don’t know about you, CBC, but the future rewards those who press on. With patient and firm determination, I am going to press on for jobs. I’m going to press on for equality. I’m going to press on for the sake of our children. I’m going to press on for the sake of all those families who are struggling right now. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I am going to press on,” the President said. “I expect all of you to march with me and press on. Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC.”

Waters spoke to CBS NEWS on Monday, saying that the President has unfairly singled out African-Americans and catered to other minority causes since the beginning of his Presidency.

"Despite the fact that he’s appointed [Sonia] Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, he has an office for excellence in Hispanic education right in the White House, [the Hispanic caucus is] still pushing him," she said. "He certainly didn’t tell them to stop complaining, and he would never say that to the gay and lesbian community, who really pushed him on Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Even in a speech to AIPAC [the American Israel Public Affairs Committee], he would never say to the Jewish community to stop complaining about Israel."

Waters has been critical of budget plans that reduce entitlements and do not provide extra relief for poor blacks whom she considers the hardest hit by the current economic crisis.

Maxine, how could any college or university let you have a teaching degree? Are you originally from the Atlanta area? Some of Atlanta’s teachers threw away what litte integrity they had and ‘doctored’ test scores so some schools would not be singled out by Uncle Scam for ‘special attention.’ Consider moving to Atlanta, Maxine.
You dare to admit that a prez should show public favoritism to blacks? Maxine, take a hard look in the mirror. You have dishonored MLK’s memory, and you are a terrible example of what happens when politics drains a person’s brain and mule muffins fill up that void.
If Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have any integrity at all, they will be on you like mother nature’s scavengers on road kill. I never would have believed that ANY politician – even a kookoid Californian – would
dare to stoop to this level. Maxine, even a grade school kid has better sense than you. Obviously, you have no conscience. Your character is out in the open for all to see.
Californians, Maxine is the best recent example of why no politician should be allowed to have consecutive terms – or any retirement at America’s expense. I would say SHAME on you, woman, but it’s fair to conclude that you have no shame or common sense or any qualities that an adult needs. You are truly in a league of your own making, Maxine.

I believe there are plenty of whites and blacks that are whining and complaining when they should be getting off their butts and making something out of themselves. You don’t have to be “rich” to be a decent human being. There are jobs out there, but a lot of people won’t “do” the work, they don’t want to dirty their hands or they are just too damn lazy and want to take the “easy” (?) way out. There are also plenty of rich people that have gained their wealth through unethical/illegal (?) practices.

    • Karolyn

Claire – There are no jobs here! OK, if someone wants to do yardwork for my friend, yes; and I do know that many don’t want to work that hard. However, our local papers have had not one local job posting in over a year. I am in a lower socio-economic area in a state with no industry to speak of. I have felt much the same as you; however, after moving down here and experiencing it firsthand, I can tell you that it is not that easy. Moving here as a 58 year old woman with $500, thinking I would find something to do, I had a rude awakening. Besides the nepotism and age discrimination, even six years ago the jobs were not here. I am a hustler and made friends with a couple of people who had small businesses who could pay me a small amount for working a couple of days a week. I also sold on ebay and at the local flea market, which helped me to squeak by. I consider myself one of the fortunate ones. The majority of people here are just left out in the cold; and if it weren’t for the fact that the families don’t split up and move, they would all be homeless. (And there aren’t even homeless shelters.)

      • http://deleted Claire

karolyn: I am on my lunch hour-have to be brief–our Sunday newspaper had three full pages of ads for jobs-all kinds of jobs. Even if it is a job you would not necessarily like- do it anyway. It is called being responsible for a person’s own welfare.

      • Palin12

        Hey karolyn,
Don’t worry, Boeing will soon have lots of jobs available in South Carolina.

        • Lost in Paradise

Jobs for a 58 year old woman? Even educated, I doubt it. The competition for jobs is high, meaning any employer would have many to choose from, and can afford to get picky.

          • http://deleted Claire

I am 70 years old. Egads! It does not seem possible!! I can still run with my dogs! Hope it continues. I made up my mind when I was young that I could do anything, I would not let anything get in my way of what I wanted to do or accomplish. I am not wealthy but I have a good life and that is all that counts in this world. I am happy. I am still working (by choice) –as an editor for a publishing company here in town. I have been there 46 years. I can still put out a lot of editing, and the only problem is–the more I do, the more work the owner gives me. But that is okay, I am busy, my job is very interesting, especially the law enforcement/criminal justice/terrorism manuscripts that I edit. I have a great track record, others have been let go but the owner keeps me. There is much to be said about being a good worker. I am fortunate. The last time I missed work for being sick was about 5 years ago–had the flu and my husband and I were really ill. We thought we were going to die–thankfully we didn’t! I have no plans to retire as yet. I prefer to keep my brain active, and my body functioning. With all my dogs I am a very busy person. I have simply reached a point in my life that I want to enjoy everything on this wonderful earth. I am grateful for my husband, my family, my friends, my dogs, my flowers. I am happy to be alive and not on any medications. And I thank God for every day that I have and will continue to enjoy every day to the max. Sorry for rambling, I have a tendency to do this. Maybe it is old age? LOL Blessings to all.

      Claire:

If you know what those rich people who used unethical/illegal acts to get rich did, could you tell me? I’m interested in doing the same thing but so far I’ve not been able to identify any such acts I can mimic.

      • http://deleted Claire

45caliber–Look at a lot of the big corporations, industries, you can’t tell me they haven’t pulled shenangians. BP, oil companies, banks, Haliburton, Soros, Koch Brothers, Wall Street–too numerous to mention–they all have their “methods.” They all sock it to the American public any way they can. Go ahead, give them more tax breaks—they already receive tax breaks and they sure as hell aren’t hiring. Have to get back to work–

        • Commonsense

And it all goes right back to the jokers you voted in! In a true free market, jobs, along with goods would be better off. I live in Montana, and it has the slowest job growth out there. But even in the wide spot on the road I live in, there’s jobs, let me rephrase that there’s WORK FOR PAY here. I talk to people here all the time that complain about no jobs and yet there’s for hire signs everywhere. When I point them out to the no job whiners they say,”Oh those hours don’t work for me.”, or “But it cuts into my personal time.”, or some other such crap!!!!!!!!!! There’s always work if you want it. Tell me where you live and I’ll bet I can look around your area and find work. It will probably have sweat on it, but its there. A real hustler as you call yourself always finds work, unless you meant the type of hustler who works harder avoiding work than just doing it. Do you want to know why I think there is work where you are? Because there are people like you sitting and complaining instead of out there working! Good Day!

What you do Mr. 45Caliber, is start producing your own goods by building a small factory. Don’t tell the government, do everything “underground”. How about a small weapons factory ? You could build and sell electric machine guns … should be EZ to produce …

        • 45caliber

I haven’t thought of electric machine guns but I’ve certainly thought of this! Years ago, I used to know a guy who had a small machine shop in his garage. He built silencers for pistols and could easily have worked 20 hour days due to his orders. And this was long before internet!

          • eddie47d

That’s nothing to be bragging about! Silencers are only good for those who want to commit evil without someone finding out. You sure you want to call this guy a friend.

          • independant thinker

Obviously you know NOTHING about the subject eddie. I would love to be able to purchase silencers for a couple of my rifles they would let me target practice at home and not have to worry about disturbing the neighbors with the noise.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            45caliber,
Have you ever seen the program Sons of Guns?? They produce them for all kinds of guns. Love the show when I have time to watch it.

          • independant thinker

Joe, I make a point to watch it every week. Also watch Top Shot although that program is edited for drama a little to much.

Don’t people like Waters realize that heir cry is getting a bit old? Quit whining!

    • 45caliber

Whining is how they make their living.

Po lil Maxine got her little Communist feelings hurt.

  • Jana

Maxine got called on the carpet and exposed. It’s ok for Maxine to say and do anything she wants but not ok for others to do the same. I agree, she along with all the career politicians are “comfortable” and suffering from the “arrogance” disease with the main symptom being that we work for them! No more than 1 term, lifetime pensions for them should be abolished, salaries cut in half, and lobbyist filling their pockets outlawed and made a criminal offense! Maxine is the epitome of what we don’t need in Congress!

Or you get robbed, stabbed, shot for a can of bear, raped, have your 92 year old hand removed because you resist, and on and on. The list is long and irritating.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      terry & lost,
Actually, I have known some blacks that would work you under the table! Damn good workers and damn dependable! I known some white progressive liberals that just stood around, collected their pay and B!TCHED all the time!! BTW I’m white, before you start!!

  • Stephen Dyser

I normally don’t reply to arrogant small minded Whites, but to say that all Black People do is cry is the most obserd comment that I’ve herd in a while. My entire family has work all of our lives, and I have served this country for 9yrs in the service and have put 2 daughters thru college and have a loving wife and grand children whom I push to excellence in all they endevor and not once have I cried for any thing nor have they. We all go out and fight for what we need and want to support our families. Stuff your comment.

    • Commonsense

Agreed Stephen! I served in the Navy and worked from ocean to ocean with every color, creed, nationality, and idealogy out there. I found color had no bearing on the subject. I found white trash as often as I found any other. One of the main reasons the race card is still out there is to keep antimosity going. If the American public ever starts realizing that integrity, good morals, and a good work ethic is what makes a good human being, not color, then maybe we can still get back to A Great U.S.A.It would also mean that every government official would probably get canned as fast s the next election!

      • 45caliber

Why do you believe the government and many politicians on both sides of the color line still push racism? They KNOW that if the people decide color is meaningless, they will lose their jobs.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        commonsense,
What the inner city youths need to do is instead of worshipping heroes on the football or basketball field, they need to look to the fathers & mothers that stick around, work their hind ends off and support their families!! Those are the real heroes of the inner city!!!

    • Bob McCormick

It is true that their are many hard working and honest African American families, but they are overshadowed by the loudmouth whiners like Maxine who beleive that the world still owes them something.

      • Christin

        Bob,

I’ll have to agree with you on that one.

Some people (of any race) need to grow up, stand on their own two feet, do their own thinking, and earn a living and PAY for what they want …or in Maxine Waters’ case… QUIT Belly-aching and Spending other people’s hard earned money on the ‘woe-is-me’ crowd which only keeps them enslaved… communist crybaby.

    • Illana Olsen

I salute you for your hard work, Stephen. I know many fine, hard-working black Americans, my brother-in-law being one of them. Color has no bearing on the quality of a person.

  • B

You should spell the words as spoken throughout. I hear that the journalist needs to clean up speaker’s grammar. I disagree with that.

You hide how it was truly spoken, how will the deaf readers know exactly what was said.

It is not racist to not clean up after speakers. I know I am a little off here, but spell as they spoke. Otherwise deaf people will never know how Obama talks.

  • http://personalliberty gene

    To Dyser;

Terry should have said “most” not all. He is right. You are an honorable exception Thank you!

    • WickedPickle

I don’t agree Gene.. Mr. Dyser is part of the great majority (as are all who shoulder their own personal responsibilities).. It is the utmost minority, the small faction of whiners and irresponsible welfare recipients that yells the loudest who seems to attract the media and all those within ear shot. Maxcine Waters is out to advicate for these ‘losers’ so that she may be seen as their leader. Blacks aren’t the only poor race that are in this economic situation, all poverty stricken are included and the only way for them to get help is to first.. Help Themselves..!

  • simian pete

Maybe Rep Maxine Waters feels disconnected from her fellow non-black Americans. It’s understandable with all the prejudice we have here.
HEh Heh !! I’m just trying to push some of you conservatives buttons ! Their is practically no prejudice here in the USA ! We elected a African/American President !!!

    • 45caliber

Sadly, most of the racism I’ve seen in the last twenty years or so is on the minority side.

  • nw

You know Obama is two-faced! He’s working on the illegal aliens to get re-elected.

  • http://N/A Cinti.CB

Waters sounds like (is) one of the African Americans keeping her entire race ‘down’-the ghet-levs(ghetto level blacks)who ALL ‘be’s da victim’ as they drive away from their section eight housing in their Mercedes!! My, once nice, neighborhood has become the ‘hood’. There’s never been so much litter, crime, or Merecedes here! She should work for the NAACP-help the ghet-levs prove that they’re ALWAYS the victim. Recently, a young black guy (can’t say boy-don’t want to get shot!) pulled a gun on a cop and got shot seven times. The guys’ mom was interviewed by the news. The mom, with much indignation, said that she wanted to know, ‘Why my son be’s in surgery with seven bullet holes in him!!?!!’ Because he pulled a gun on a cop, you unfortunate little ‘victim’.

    • eddie47d

Come on CB You can hear the same thing from any mother no matter what color they are.

  • JUKEBOX

There has been a long standing premise in advertising, that the more ignorant your audience is, the louder your commercial needs to be. I noticed that Obama had the volume of his “QUIT WHINING” speech pumped up to the MAXX with echo. He either loves the sound of his own voice or thinks he is addressing the dumb masses, or maybe both. Maxine is following the same premise with her ear shattering, shrill rhetoric.

  • Palin12

Looking at that picture above, will someone please tell Maxine Halloween doesn’t start until next month?

    • 45caliber

Sorry, she isn’t wearing her costume. With it on, she looks MUCH better!

  • http://personalliberty gene

Why is it that the Germans, Irish, Italians, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Indians, Pakistanis,Chinese and Koreans all came here with nothing. Most were discriminated against and most went on to prosper by working hard. Only those poor victims from Africa with their hands out(who have been here longer than any above!) can’t seem to make it??? Answer that for me, please??

    • s c

To understand what’s happened to black leadership, take a look at what passes for a pathetic form of black ‘leadership’ (ala Jesse and Big Al). Don’t wait for media whores to explain it or even talk about it. Since MLK’s murder, certain “leaders” have taken it upon themselves to ‘take over’ for MLK. They have completely disgraced MLK’s memory, and in doing so they have replaced character with ethics-for-sale.
They are in bed with ‘Dems’ who are first generation useful idiots who view race relations as an easy way to get elected, get easy votes and money and a quick way to be viewed as experts on discrimination.
In effect, they are professional racists and pc Nazis who have yet to get their full measure of comeuppance from the ones they oppress – fellow blacks.
Like I said, don’t wait for media scummies to do their job. And don’t hold your breath waiting for suck-ups like Maxine Waters to grow a spine or buy some common sense. If MLK knew what would happen, he would have turned his back on the cause. Ethnic treason is a polite way to describe it, gene.

    • 45caliber

      gene:

The other races all had to work hard BEFORE they came here. So they simply continued doing what they were already doing.

The black races who came here were decendents of tribes in Africa that had been slaves to the warrior tribes (Zulu, etc.) for over three thousand years BEFORE they were brought here. (I know, I can hear the blacks now “My grandfather was a Zulu warrior!”) There were only two ship loads of actual warriors (and workers) brought to the New World – one landed in Georgia. Six months later they rebelled. Most were killed after they had killed a lot of others. The rest fled to join the Indians. The other ship landed in Jamacia. If you look at a modern map of Jamacia today, you will see a big green blob in the middle called the “Cockpit Country (We no ask, you no come)”. The warriors rebelled, fled to the interior and still hold that area.

So basically, all the blacks (except for a few modern immigrants) were children of slaves for centuries. And slaves tend to depend upon orders to work. Right now, no one is giving them orders.

  • daniel

I think Obama is prejudiced against blacks. Or wait a second is it the CBC is racist because they do not like the Obama way of doing things? Oh well somebody has to be racist in that mix. Just has to be because it follows that if you don’t like the O program then you are racist. If you don’t adore the CBC then your’e racist at least according to liberals.
    Let’em eat their own.

    • JUKEBOX

What would be said if there were a Caucasian Congressional Caucus? The outcry could be heard in Europe. These minority groups are not only racist, but DUPLICITOUS, emphasis added. Why is no one saying anything about Obama’s “WHITE” side. He is racist by falsely calling himself “BLACK”.

      • crystal

Why do white people continue to whine about if they do something. Just do it and shut the hell up. Don’t worry about being called a racist. This argument isn’t getting old — it has gotten old. Like the Nike advertisement “Just Do It.”

Another group that keeps silent is the Christian church. Now look. They are under attack all the time now. It’s not a good time to be silent or worry about someone calling you a racist.

Do you know how many times I’m called Oreo or Uncle Tom? Too many to care to count. I don’t care!!!

        • Jay

I totally agree Crystal! As you said: Just do it, and let the chips fall where they may! It seems it doesn’t matter what you do, or how you do it, there will always be the critics. So what? Let them cry, and froth at the mouth, who cares!

        • http://naver sook young

I understand what you are saying Crystal. When we were stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, a man called me a slant eyed whore. There is no greater power in the world today than that wielded by the manipulators of public opinion in America. No king or pope of old, no conquering general or high priest ever disposed of a power even remotely approaching that of the few dozen men who control America’s mass news and entertainment media.

Their power is not distant and impersonal; it reaches into every home in America, and it works its will during nearly every waking hour. It is the power that shapes and molds the mind of virtually every citizen, young or old, rich or poor, simple or sophisticated.

The mass media form for us our image of the world and then tell us what to think about that image. Essentially everything we know — or think we know — about events outside of our own neighborhood or circle of acquaintances comes to us via our daily newspaper, our weekly news magazine, our radio, or our television. It is not just the heavy-handed suppression of certain news stories from our newspapers or the blatant propagandizing of history-distorting TV ‘docudramas’ that characterizes the opinion-manipulating techniques of the media masters. They exercise both subtlety and thoroughness in their management of the news and the entertainment that they present to us.

For example, the way in which the news is covered: which items are emphasized and which are played down, the reporter’s choice of words, tone of voice, and facial expressions; the wording of headlines; the choice of illustrations — all of these things subliminally and yet profoundly affect the way in which we interpret what we see or hear.

On top of this, of course, the columnists and editors remove any remaining doubt from our minds as to just what we are to think about it all. Employing carefully developed psychological techniques, they guide our thought and opinion so that we can be in tune with the “in” crowd, the “beautiful people”, the “smart money”. They let us know exactly what our attitudes should be toward various types of people and behavior by placing those people or that behavior in the context of a TV drama or situation comedy and having the other TV characters react to them in the Politically Correct way.
