Obama: The Government Is Us, And We’re Doing Things Right

July 8, 2013 by

Do you feel well-represented by your Federal government?

If you said no, President Barack Obama wants you to change your tune: You should love the government “because the government is us,” the President said Monday.

Obama was attempting to make the point that Americans should focus less on government failings and more on where it makes things better.

“We can’t just stand on the sidelines.  We can’t take comfort in just being cynical.  We all have a stake in government success— because the government is us,” the President proclaimed. “And we’re doing things right”

He went on later, “We’re doing a lot of this work administratively but unfortunately there are still a bunch of rules, a lot of legislation that has poorly designed some of our agencies and forces folks to engage in bureaucratic jump-hoop – hoop jumping – instead of just going ahead and focusing on mission and delivering good service to our citizens.”

Once you leave government maybe we will feel things are being done right. You have done more to harm the American way of life than our enemies. For the good of the Country you should remove yourself from office.

  • Blank Reg

Mr. Obama, the government is definitely “not me”, for if it was, I’d shut the entire thing down.

  • Sarah417

My saying is the enemy is us. 51% of American enemies voted to put this non-entity into office. He has no papers or records to prove who he is. He has a fake SSN from a dead man. what more can I say? He’s not my president, he’s yours.

    • Alan

Not quite exactly Sarah. As I often remind people, those 51% of the American enemies were only amongst those Americans who voted. He didn’t win by a majority by any stretch of the imagination. They can have him.

      • Motov

And many voted multiple times, as well as dead people, pets, and jerry-rigged voting machines, and votes were simply never counted, So I seriously question this so called 51%.

        • Alan

Agreed Motov. The past couple of elections have caused me to question the entire process. I might believe I was mistaken should a conservative candidate ever again be chosen in a landslide. But the way things are going I just don’t see that happening.

          • smilee

That is only because the minority of the voters now vote for them!!

          • Alan

Wrong again smile! The minority of voters who vote for them are not the majority of conservatives. If the true conservatives in this country voted with there brains instead of their emotions you liberals would be finished.

        • Smilee

No honest person does because they know all you have said is not true.

          • Motov

Wait until reality hits you where you live.
            We will see

      • Smilee

You cannot say he would not have gotten 51% of the vote if 100% of eligible voters voted, it could even have been greater than that but if you do not vote then you cannot be counted so your assumptions are a stupid analysis that is only made by dreamers.

        • Alan

Prove it dimwit! Those who didn’t vote abstained for a reason, namely being they just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Romney. Now how can you imagine that those very same voters would have cast a vote for your king?

    • smilee

      Lies, lies and more lies

  • Elton Robb

It’s not working. What ever he is doing to make Americans feel good again, it’s not working.

  • J. Conrad Guest

In other words, those of us who hold our elected officials accountable are unpatriotic. If I did as poorly in my job as government does in their’s, I’d be fired.

  • David Weeks

MR.OBAMA, the last time I read the Constitution, you and all elected officials work for WE THE PEOPLE,not that we work for you. You need to go back to Collage and relearn the the LAWS OF OUR COUNTRY,because the first time around YOU failed, just like your FAILING now. It sure will be nice when you are no longer in OFFICE,maybe then WE can get this Country back on track

    • Debbie Hogan Tate

Wonder what name he would use this time if he did go back to school? And would he put that he is a foreign student (?) AGAIN! That, I am sure, is part of the reason why his collage records are sealed. Or it could be that he never went there long enough to graduate, as NONE of his classmates remember him and only one professor says he remember him! That professor was a radical Palestinian!

    • smilee

He does work for we the people and I’m betting you were in the minority and did not vote for him so you just say that because you do not like him and you lost, all the people who did vote for him feel he is or they would not have voted for him as this was his second time around so they knew what they were voting for. He is a proven constitutional scholar from Harvard. How to you explain that every case his administration argued before the supreme court the court found in his favor which suggests he understands what the Constitution is and how it works and you do not. Only five presidents whom have been elected to two or more terms did so with over 50% in both elections and they were Jackson, F Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Reagan and Obama, He is in very good company and the vote count showed your take is bogus, In raw vote totals he received the most votes of any president in the last election. Facts do not support the BS you tossed our here.

  • hippybiker

I have never seen a more clear example of a double talking piece of garbage. We need to send this worthless African Negro, who is a total waste of skin back to Kenya where he belongs.

  • Chris

    This article is hilarious!

  • pistofftxpyr

If we have to have the brightest minds working to solve the nation’s biggest problems, as B.O. claims, what the hell is the Kenyan doing in the White House?

  • JCole6320

This government we have now represents itself and not the people. None of what has been done is for the people of this country. It escapes me what these wise minds, and I use the words kindly, are thinking. As far as I am concerned
they are not thinking of us. We should tighten our belts, while they spend like the money is growing on trees. It is at our expense and the expense of our children and grandchildren. Why would they even care??? Evil spawns more evil and we have an evil person running this country. He hates us and this country and the people were dumb enough to put him in there. I hope they have learned a good lesson by what they have done. We learn by our mistakes and in the meantime we hurt many others in the process. I feel nothing but disgust for all of what has been done.

  • Al Chemist

This occupant of the WH spews pure unadulterated Bull Plop and nothing else.

  • Louis Lemieux

Today there are myriad kinds of jobs, professions and institutions that did not exist when the U.S. Constitution was written. The intricacy of modern society calls for bigger government.
Today we have myriad ways we could and would use our freedom to step on our neighbors’ freedom if it were not for society’s numerous legal constraints impose upon us. Not that those constraints shouldn’t be reviewed occasionally.
If people were intrinsically not greedy, thirsty for power and prestige but instead more inclined to compassion, generosity and toleration, I would be a devout Libertarian!

    • Don in Ohio

Louis, but there are greedy, power grabbing and egotistical idiots, the problem is no amount of regulations will do very much to change this. For example, bank robbery has been illegal forever but every day banks are robbed. So what the law does do is prescribe the penalties for said actions. Every time an action is made illegal, the effect is to create more criminals.
I agree, every law, rule and regulation should be review every 5 years or so and the ones no longer relevant, repealed. For example, the public housing (Projects) were started to provide housing for WW2 widows but has continued and grown for 70 years. WHY????

    • smilee

You forgot a much larger population

  • Don in Ohio

    Wow, where do I start?
For Oblamo to complain about regulations (a nice word for RED TAPE) is a freaking joke…he is responsible or more regulations than anyone since FDR.
Examples; the (non)affordable health care boondoggle, Wall street regulations, EPA, (anti)energy regulations, NLRB, IRS, OSHA and thousands more.
To say anything in government is working well is a stretch, just what is working?
As more and more people are forced to work part time, things are going to get really ugly.
Oh, and the illegal immigration problem is really getting better, right? Suing states for trying to enforce the law, that’s really helping, too.
And hundreds of other failed programs and 17 trillion in debt.
Yes sirree, things are really working great!

  • noone

Pogo said “we have met the enemy, and he is us”. But then he lived in a swamp.

    • tccsmith

You know of course, that D. C. was originally a swamp, and Pogo was right on.

  • chochowming

The Constitution was written to limit government not the individual. You have a right to be greedy if you want to be. That’s the problem with liberals, they want to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

  • JRR

“Us” being all the Muslims and communists he has infested the White House and Cabinet with?

  • Debbie Hogan Tate

Nothing is getting better until we get this Muslim out of OUR White House! He does not meet the qualifications to set in the Oval Office! No Birth certificate, registered as a foreign student, sealed his collage records, Hawaii can’t find any BC. The one he has presented has been proven a phony just like he is. And lets not even get started on all the lies and cover ups and scandals. And spying on our own citizens and churches but not the Muslims! They are the race who attacked us on 9/11! What the hell are they doing here? Planning their next attack and Obama will be in on that also as he tells us we are “doing things right”! I would rather have Nixon as a president! He at least loved his country enough to step down. Obama only loves his Kenya family and the Muslim Brotherhood! Impeach, Impeach, Impeach Obama and his cronies!

  • Motov

    Dear Obozo,

If you REALLY wanted to “do things right”, RESIGN! Otherwise quit wasting our time with your flowery but bull laden speeches. Name one thing you have done right since you entered the oval office. I’m afraid the definition of that word would be better used as,…

You have proven the old saying to be right that things can always get worse every day you are in office.

You are leading this country right down the proverbial drain.
Your “legacy” will be rightfully the biggest fraud this country has ever seen.
You have trampled our rights, and had no right to the power grabs you committed. It is only right that you are impeached immediately!

  • just thinking aloud

This fool is really pushing the limits. He actually believes that we are going to fall for his nonsensical rhetoric and lies again. The time has come when even his most avid supporters must accept that this imposter is fooling the people and taking America on a path towards oblivion. All he has left is rhetoric, arrogance, and pathetic defense of his own misdemeanours and those of his cohorts and the time has come to recognize him for what he is – a great actor whose box office appeal is declining by the hour, a has been, never to be recognized or regarded as a real American, let alone a misguided twerp. His place in history is assured, as the most devious, dishonest and corrupt President ever. He should be serving life, not participating in it.

    • billybob

You hit it on the head. He is a good actor on the public stage of America. He has fooled most of the people all of the time. I guess in defense of those who are on the lower rung of the ladder. “Don’t bit the hand that feeds you” is their motto. They get food stamps, Low income housing, New cellar phones, fee health care, unemployment, I mean why work???You can make more money for sitting at home and watching the chew!

  • Warrior

“Jump-hoop”? What’s dat? Could it be spritzer and wiener running for political orifices again? This “humpty” should be pushed from the wall and smashed into unrecognizable pieces that can never be put back together again!

  • Warrior

Yes, he proves it everyday, the same mistake can be made again. Anyone hear the latest karl rove tirade against Justin Amash? Foot n’ Mouth disease is rampant in gubmint circles. Spitzer wants to run for office again because the years he formerly spent there were the most enjoyable of “his life”. Does anyone in NY have any sense? How about a marion barry redux for d.c.? Madness, shear madness!

    • billybob

We have a very short memory! Most people who are at best in the lower 70’s in IQ, will vote him back into power. The guy understands the American mindset. He realizes that they are at best to stupid to understand what he was doing. Morals in this country have been on a slippery slope for years. The government is mostly run by a hand full of degenerates. Starting at the top of the Federal Government. No one has stopped Obama from appointing all of his Communist friends. That says a lot about the rest of the congress and the Supreme Court. But then I guess it makes sense since the Democratic party is really all communist anyway.

  • Warrior

Ah, no. The gubmint is clearly not “us”, it’s “you”, the current “progressive” RULING party. Please remove yourself and take your sidekick “plugs” and the rest of your “ilk” with you. You are a “stain” on American history!

  • CaptJ@sea

    Mr. Obama said:

“. . . but unfortunately there are still a bunch of rules, a lot of legislation that has poorly designed some of our agencies and forces folks to engage in bureaucratic jump-hoop – hoop jumping – instead of just going ahead and focusing on mission and delivering good service to our citizens.”

I know what he means: “A lot of legislation”, like the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, both of which prevent him from doing whatever he wants, from using taxes to control us and from spying on us at will.

Yeah, the poor man is up against it, all right. Damn those annoying, irrelevant, out-dated documents!

  • Alan

Te problem here is that the government he speaks of is that of Obama, Biden, Pelosi, and every other radical socialist, rather than the average citizen. Their policies have this country circleing the bowl.

  • Ted Crawford

Hey ! Obama! ! Have you ever heard of an obscure Politician from a ways back, by the name of Thomas Jefferson?
” The two enemies of the People are Criminals and Government, so let us tie the second down with the CHAINS (emphsis added) of the Constitution so the second will not become the Legalized version of the first” ! Thomas Jefferson
It’s still working, though you’ve delt it severe blows, as it did for the 232 years before your sorry Narcissistic presents arived!
Your disgusting excuses and blaming of others for your incompetency, and that of your Administration is becoming tiresome, even to many who, delusionally voted for you! Lead, follow, or get the he!! out of the way!

  • Diane Ringen

We the people are the government. Just goes to show you how much Obama doesn’t know about the constitution.

    • billybob

He doesn’t like the constitution and is in the process of getting rid of it!

      • Diane Ringen

And if he gets that accomplished we are all “up a creek”.

  • garygerke

Obama is the liar of the century, we need to be rid of him, the sooner the better.

  • billybob

A license to steal. That is what you buy when you become the President. It is why it will cost several Billion dollars to elect the next president. It all comes down to who is willing to allow those who donate for the cause to leagally steal from the tax payers. Have you ever seen any Politician go to jail for giving one of his or her friends big contracts for donations? What about Obama and Solyndra and the $500,000,000.00 gift. Everyone who could, said it was a bad investment and it would fail. But that didn’t bother Obama because he knew that this money would be funneled back into his reelection campaign. When if ever, are the people going to stop taking this crap from these crooks. It is an attitude. The politicians are convinced that the American people are really just to stupid to understand what these crooks are doing. And for a good reason. Most people are just to busy working and trying to make it in this world. Politics is like going to the dentist. Most would rather not go. They don’t like the pain. The founding fathers knew of the potential of corruption in government. They warned us, but like those need to feel the pain here we are 200 years later allowing this government to put us into slavery.
