Obama Says Individual Mandate About Fairness, Ignores States’ Powers

August 18, 2011 by

Obama Says Individual Mandate About Fairness, Ignores States’ Powers

On Monday, President Barack Obama, during the first stop on his three-day-long Economic Bus Tour of the Midwest, took questions at a town hall in Cannon Falls, Minn. One of the questioners referenced the recent decision by the 11th Circuit Appeals Court, which ruled that the individual mandate portion of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is unConstitutional.

“[T]he individual mandate is important. Because the basic theory is, look, everybody here at some point or another is going to need medical care, and you can’t be a free-rider on everybody else — you can’t not have health insurance, then go to the emergency room and each of us who’ve done the responsible thing and have health insurance, suddenly we now have to pay the premiums for you. That’s not fair,” Obama said.

“This should not be controversial, but it has become controversial partly because of people’s view that — well, let me just say this: You’ve got a governor who’s running for president right now who instituted the exact same thing in Massachusetts,” Obama said. “There have been two appeals courts so far. One has said it’s fine. The other one has taken sort of the conservative line that this restricts freedom and Congress doesn’t have the authority to do it. If the Supreme Court follows existing precedent, existing law, it should be upheld without a problem.”

However, at least one columnist took issue with Obama’s dismissal of the 11th Circuit Appeals Court’s decision.

“In his first public comment on last week’s federal court ruling that declared the centerpiece of the health care law unconstitutional, President Obama today defended the law as good public policy but sidestepped, or chose to ignore, the legal issues at the core of the decision,” read an NBC column.

“But in invalidating the requirement that virtually all Americans buy health insurance, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals explicitly noted that the Constitution gives states much broader powers than the federal government to regulate health care. The health care industry ‘falls within the sphere of traditional state regulation,’ last Friday’s ruling said,” the column read. “It may not be fair, but that doesn’t make the individual mandate constitutional.”

How many politicians will dodge Bummer’s healthcare scam? What kind of retards would create separate systems when the only FAIR thing to do is to have EVERYONE using the SAME system? That ASSUMES that it works. People, it can’t work the way it has been packaged. Since the legislation was passed, have ANY of those elected sunny beaches and hormone-driven amazons read the damned thing?
Otherwise, America will be cursed with two schemes. One gives ‘elite’ status to those who run for office, and the rest of us get to suck hind teat and shake our heads at how our ‘protectors’ SCREWED us so bad in the name of LEADERSHIP, character, social justice, stewardship, constitutional representation and wisdom.

    • maggiemoo

Well said, s c! Let’s add that the costs associated with this scam will ultimately financially break the “non-elites” and push us into third-world status. But wasn’t that the plan anyway?

      • eddie47d

Yes those Elites are changing the face of America. We have those who build bigger mansions and several homes in foreign countries or other states. All while the Middle Class slides into oblivion. Their piggy banks are full while the rest of America is running on empty. There is definitely a problem but the problem is you don’t want to see the other part of the problem. We are all awe stricken by those mansions on the hill irregardless of what money they were built with.Go to any third country and their Elites also live in mansions while the citizens suffer. They (3rd world wealthy) love their status and could care less if their fellow countrymen don’t even have the basics. As a matter of fact they seem to enjoy it a little too much. Yes indeed America could become like those 3rd world nations and our wealthy will continue to enjoy their status too and a little too much.

        • Buster the Anatolian

You have described your heros, the Democrat elite, rather well eddie.

        • Dale on the left coast

You must be talking about Edwards, Gore, Kennedy, Rockerfeller and clueless John Kerry . . . right???
The middle class are sliding into oblivion because of the following statements by the Clueless Wne in the WH.
          “energy prices would necessarily increase”
“everyone should have the safe cheap/free healthcare”
next the Clueless Won will order everyone to buy a Chevy Volt . . . LOL

        • Song

Eddie your blind hatred for people that have more than you is tiresome. While you set your sights on the “uber rich” you fail to realize that your president has defined “rich” as anyone who makes over $200k a year! That is my sister, an attorney, and her husband, a criminal analyst who both work very, very hard and live in an area of the country where $200k buys you a modest 3 bedroom home, 2 car garage and 2 used cars.
Get off your high horse. The Uber Rich will never come down off the hill Eddie but people like my sister and her husband will be penalized and many hard working Americans, that is for sure. And again, as much as you hate them, and to be sure there are the rotten apples in the bunch, it is the wealthy in this country that fund charitable organizations and create jobs. When was the last time you wrote out a check for a million dollars to a local charity Eddie?

          • 45caliber

eddie reminds me of the old saying: first the libs ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win.

          • Karolyn

Having worked in the nonprofit world for years, Song, I learned many years ago that it is a fallacy to assume that the rich give more. The fact is more money is donated by the middle class. There are a very few wealthy giving large amounts of money, which make it seem like they are all so generous. NOT!

I don’t care where you live; you can sure live pretty damn well on $200,000 per year! That’s what happens – people lose sight of how the other half lives. The biggest problem in this country, and world, is greed. MORE MORE MORE and then ME ME ME!

          • Song

And you know this how Karolyn? Most wealthy people that give, don’t advertise Karolyn. In fact, they are some of the most quiet, humble and non-exorbitant people I have ever met. I learned long ago that you will never recognzie a good person with wealth because they don’t drive flashy cars, don’t live beyond their means and aren’t crying ME ME ME. The few “flash in the pans” are the few. Most people quietly give and I have been privliged to know many of them. BTW Karolyn, who do you think starts a lot of these charitable organizations. It sure isn’t people without any money, now is it.

          • Song

Oh and Karolyn, in reply to your little tantrum about not caring where people live because $200k is soooo much money in your little bubble…1st – that is quite judgemental and hateful for you and 2nd -do you have a mortgage? A family – ie: children or pay taxes on $200k which is very high? The answer is NO…for all your do gooder, bleeding heart mentality you just showed your true colors: jealousy and hate. You have no idea what sacrfiices people make to earn 6 figures a year and apparently you don’t care and hate them just the same. Shame on you!

          • WickedPickle

WHEN!!?? When are the uber going to part with their nest egg and kick start the nation by creating NEW jobs? Not the jobs that revolve around upper management or those that pay solely on commission (when most of us can’t sell).. Huh? Sure, the uber contributes to various charities.. SO LONG AS THEY CAN WRITE IT OFF ON THEIR TAX RETURN!!.. What an idiot YOU are defending a group who would just as well see your kin go down the drain just as much as any other ant.. It’s not those people (25,000.00 and below) that we’re raging about, it’s the multi millionaires and billionaires who blatently screw any one who get’s between them and their uber life styles.. The only good thing about it is if the nation goes down the drain and money will be as important as it’s use to wipe a dirty butt, then it will be THESE snobs who will be jumping out of skyscraper windows and begging the poor to show them how to live on next to nothing ..

          • DaveH

Since you don’t care about money, Karolyn, why does their “greed” worry you?

          • TIME

If you lived in NYC $200K per year would allow you a 1100 sqft apt, in a not so nice area, and a not so plush life style.
Just as if you lived in LA or SF Bay $200K would be a rather dull life as well.

But if you live in the rural areas of SC or NC, yes indeed $200K and you would be the BIG FISH in the pond.

But thanks for explaining how much $200K will buy you,

***BTW, after Tax’s that being State and Federal, that $200K is about 1/2 of the base amount.

          • Average Joe

It is obvious from your rants that you are not very well educated. Why do I say this?. Well maybe because you can’t see the forrest…..for the trees.
I am not uber rich, however, I did (past tense) own my own Land Surveying business and the income of that business was fairly substantial. However, between County, State and Federal regulations and taxes….pretty much made me sell out and stop running a business. I realize that you libs seem to think that all we have to do is open the doors to a business and hire like crazy…sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn’t work that way. First, you need a plan…that takes money and time to lay out the goals of any business.
Next, there is the matter of where am I going to locate my business and do I build or do I rent? Now, if I am going to be looking at locations….I need to look into the city, county, state and federal regulations concrning my business…guess what, I just had to hire a lawyer to look into all of these aspects of my business….as well as an accountant to keep track of all of my expenses…and I haven’t even gotten to a business lic…proerty or equipment. So, here I am spending several thousand dollars….and not even in business yet. What about Zoning?….I need to know about the zoning of different areas that I may wish to start my business, If it isn’t zoned for my business….I have to find another place that is (which may or may be good for my business) or I need to apply for a zoning change to accomodate my business…..more thousands shot to the Gov…and still I have no business. Now, once I am finally in business…I have a whole new set of problems. I get to not only pay my taxes, but I get to take care of my employee taxes, their SSI, which I have to match out of my pocket), their Medicare/medicade payments…..and I get to pay a nice percentage of my earnings….to pay for their unemployment insurance. Now I have to hire someone else (and pay those expenses for them)…just to keep up with all of the paperwork that good old Uncle Sam wants me to keep records on. Basically, what it boils down to is this…the Government (local, state and federal)…have taxed and regulated us to the point that in order to pay a decent wage to an employee…we can’t afford to stay in business ourselves. If I am paying $15 per hour to an employee, you can bet that I am paying 3 times that amount in “benefits”….the things I have to pay for the employee and that doesn’t include all of the taxes incurred as a result of doing business…or the person I had to hire…just for all of the paperwork….or the Lawyer and accountant. This is why companies shut down completely or move to another country where they aren’t taxed to death and buried under mountains of bureaucratic regulations and paperwork.

I can tell you that just getting my Surveying Company (16 employees) cost me well over 300k to get the doors open and then after opening and running the business, I had employees taking home more money than I was…and I was the owner and the only registered land surveyor in the office….the government taxed and regulated me out of business ( or at least make me say, “I’ve had enough” and sell my business after 17 years). The headaches that come from the government are not worth the price of opening your own business anymore…the only people that profit from new business…is government…period….and quite frankly, the people that are capable of opening new businesses here in the US….feel the same way that I do….anywhere but here…..
Of course it doesn’t encourage us to want to start a new business when idiots like you keep screaming , “tax the crap out of them some more”…..I’ll tell you what….you get out there and try it (start a new business)….get back to me with your results…….you friggin uninformed wanker!

        • Push comes to Shove

          Okay Mr. ED,
Lets get 2 things straight right here and now.

The Rich, the ones you rail against all happen to be democrats, political elites or both (most of whom give very little to charity, especially money wise).

The rich who are not political elitists are typically humanitarians (some of whom i do not agree with thier politics) and give huge sums to charities, especially childrens charities.

How much has your heros (Obama, Gore, etc.) given of thier riches. Bill Gates has vowed to give half of his billions to charity along with several other uber rich people. That is what it is all about (giving to give from the heart) not having it taken from you by government because the less fortunate (and the lazy) are jealous of what they have.

          • WickedPickle

Dammit to hell! I meant to write $250,000.00 and below.. I must REALLY be pissed for failing to edit my post.

          • Kate8

Before you get too many fuzzy feeling toward Bill Gates…His big thing is funding and promoting vaccines to the world for purposes of depopulation.

          • Song

You need to update WP. Out of the words of the man’s own mouth on his little tax payer funded bus tour not even last week, $200k are considered “rich”, not $250k. And you guys even dare to suggest that the conservatives promote class warfare! wow!

          • Matt Newell

Kate8, what proof do you have to make that statement about Bill Gates? I am NOT a fan of Mr. Gates, but I believe proof must be made when such a degrading statement is made about anyone.

          • Kate8

You want proof? What do you consider proof?

It’s no secret that he is part of the group of elites who meet to discuss the world’s population problem, and what to do about it.

It’s also no secret that he funds a huge program to distribute vaccines around the world. This is a huge project of his.

Again, no secret that vaccines are responsible for early disease and death, and will probably become more blatant as attempts are made to mandate them. Not to mention that they cause sterility.

            Here’s one:

Just do a search on Bill Gates Vaccine Project. You’ll get lots of info.

Eddie: you must be a world class loser to wallow in class envy as you do. Your time would be better spent on trying to build something for yourself and your family than wasting your life envying what others have. If you can’t be successful in America, even with the obsticles gvt. throws in our way, where can you be ? You’ll end up an old man bitter about your life and blaming everyone else for your condition. My father-in-law is like that. When he gets on his soap box I want to puke.

      • C man

With the present state of affairs. Our Fearless Leaders want us to fail. I am a business owner and see the increase on taxes to those of us who work 16 hours a day providing JOBS and being punished for it. Yes I am looking overseas. Why shouldn’t I. I supported the USA only to get it in the back. Give a flat tax. No more giving a free ride to illegals. No more supporting countries using us. No more allowing visas used to support families in other countries. Let’s support AMERICANS. Once we find the right medium… Then we can help others to an extent.

An idea that politicians hate. Term limits. Example. I serve for a full term… I get that same pay for life. (that is so wrong) I serve a term I get a terms worth upon retirement. NOT LIFE. Term limits also gives reality to the common folk. The politicians are faced with getting real jobs when the office is no longer available. And we start getting real people into office with an idea of what the real world is like. Also Social Security benifits. They should pay like all of us real people.

I could continue. But interested in honest feedback. Then I’ll add more. Be AMERICAN not socialist.

        • C man

Am replying because I believe the system is broken. Any reply direct to

        • Average Joe

I posted something similar to your post above. I managed to sell my business and retire at an early age for those very reasons you stated.
I got tired of all of the government interference( regulations and taxes, city, county, state and federal)….I started to realize that owning my own business…meant that I was actually working to pay the government…I had to be…because I surely wasn’t seeing the “grand life”…that everyone told me I would be living while working for myself. My employees had a better life than I did….and they didn’t have the headaches. People don’t understand how government treats businesses…especially small businesses. They’ve never gone to pay a bill and found out that the IRS has questioned your quarterly earnings and decided to freeze your bank accts. until after they do a special audit. In the meantime, you need to take out a loan in order to stay afloat while the government takes the next 1-3 months to conduct that audit and finally release your accounts….because they made a small error.but hey, what do they care how much more you are now in debt or how much interest you had to pay because of their screwup….and you don’t get an appolgy….nope…as matter of fact once that first freeze is instituted….it is a sign to them that you are now a target for future harrassment because you have now been “brought to their attention”.
I am with you, the system is broken. My remedy would be to end the income tax and business tax and institute a flat national sales tax of 10%…everybody pays the same amount….based on consumption. Get rid of all federal regulation as well as those who enforce those regulations…and allow each state to intitute their own regulations.
I am betting that the states with the least amount of regulations….will end up being the states that are most prosperous.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

I recently heard a report that states that America looses more productivity due to regulation every year than the GNP of India and Canada combined. I own and operate a small independent oil and gas development company in Pa. I could write a book on all the wasted time we endure to accomodate the EPA and the state DEP. I can, from start to finish, drill and put into production, an oil and gas well in under 2 weeks. It takes at least 60 days to get all the paperwork approved by the gvt. authorities. The gvt. does create jobs; paper shufflers. I’ve had to hire (2) emplyees just to file applications and process all the required paperwork. Gvt. doesn’t solve problems, they are the problem.

Dont’ be surprised when you don’t get any response from the raging liberal, looney, left on this site. They all think they are just entitled to other people’s money without any regard to the risk, investment and hard work that goes into sustaining a business and/or a profession.

    • David in MA

The argument that when someone goes to the ER other Americans have to pay for it, well, with obozo’s plan, “other” Americans are still paying for it. If ten percent of the population (mostly the lazy & illegal immigrants) is without health insurance then why not require medical facillities to have a ten percent un-insured cliental which the medicare or medicaid can certify them as eligable for benefits, don’t construct a whole new government agency to oversee it, which only encreases costs…..On the ER visits, sniffles in junior is not an emergency, why don’t ER’s have a “clinic near them to evaluate whether or not a person needs the ER, and the clinic could initiate a billing proceedure, etc…….etc…….etc. There are a number of ways to address this~~without government envolvement!

      • slapjack

We have a med clinic for the ILLEGAL Deadbeats. It costs $75.00 up front. The illegals still go to the ER and they cater to these leeches. Little Jose has his rights over Americans according to The Kenyan Pretender.

      • Fed up

It’s not just that we’re paying for the illegals er visits but there are the muslim immigrants that are allowed to have their requirement to buy an ins. plan waived because it’s Obozo’s relatives for all we know. Bull is all I have to say and they can shove it!!!

      • 45caliber

If you check, NO ONE is denied medical treatment in the US. It doesn’t matter if you are a citizen, here illegally, or a visitor. If you need medical care, you will get it. And it is just as good as anyone else can get. It doesn’t matter if you are a billionare or are homeless.

The real problem is that this is simply a better way to control the population. It is also a way to prevent doctors (such as Ron Paul) from running against lawyers for politicial positions. And it gives them a chance to insure that anyone trying to cause them problems can be silenced quickly.

        • Karolyn

You can’t be denied basic medical care, but once that’s done, you’re on your own. Of course, there are specialized hospitals for children like St. Jude’s; but if you’re an adult and have cancer and don’t have insurance, you stand a very poor chance of getting proper treatment.

          • Kate8

Karolyn – It depends on what you’re calling “proper treatment”.

If that would be radiation, chemo and radical surgery, then I’d say you’re fortunate if you can’t get that. That would be what you’d get from our medical system.

There are many, many natural and inexpensive ways to treat cancer (and everything else) if one is willing to do a bit of research.
            And you’ll live longer, too.

BTW, if one cannot pay, or is not legally here, then all he is entitled to is critical care. In truth, he is fortunate to get that. The taxpayers don’t owe everyone premium health care.

I don’t carry health insurance, but I’ve learned to treat myself, and am better off for it. And I’ve brought myself through some pretty critical situations, and have also helped others avoid doctors, as well. I’d probably be on God-knows what kind of medications by now, otherwise. But I don’t consider myself entitled to have others pay my way, and I don’t whine about not being able to afford it. That’s just the way life is sometimes.

I figure I’ll just keep breathing until I quit. People die every day, and I don’t figure I’m that darned important to how the wheel turns.

Illegals swamp hospitals having babies in them so they can score US citizenship for them. Yet, a very small percentage of the world’s babies are born in hospitals. It is not necessary to foot the bill so they can claim citizenship for their newborn, who’s likely been in the US for only a few hours. If they were in their own countries, they’d most likely be giving birth at home.

      The concise Constitutional clause being violated and ignored is;

The “General Welfare Clause” in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution provides, “The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States…”

Uniform throughout the United States is hardly being held to when more than 2,000 waivers have been granted since its passage for members of Congress, unions, Muslims, and other Obama patrons. Especially when almost a quarter of the free passes were granted to Ms. “Big Gavel” Pelosi’s own District in La La Land. Pelosi’s philosophy is “You can read the bill AFTER we pass it!” No wonder!

sc – Threee (or more) schemes exist I can think of.
The one I prefer is the one where I discipline myself to eat right and do things like work and exercise some, use chiropractic. avoid medicine like the plague it is, supplement (vitamins, herbs, spices, minerals and even stuff that tastes terrible), Study what God has to say about health (spiritual, mental, physical, marital, sexual, material and merciful). I’m 67 years old and have had nothing abidingyt bad happen to me in a long time. I had a bit of a rough patch early on in my stint in Cod’s Goodness – but that was because like Frank Sinatra – “I DID IT MY WAY”. Oh well, thankfully, He carried me til I got a little more meek, in spite of my abraisive nature.
You can have the lies Obama has to offer. I wouldn’t trade the good things God has blessed us (my wife family and I) with for all the marvels in Obama’s Word. Obama..the boil-sucker’s wet dream.
Best, most inclusive health care program in the whole world? = God.
Besides that, the most expensive thing you need to invest is your heart.

Mike, reasonable people have basic common sense and don’t need to control others. Congress is full of anal retentives who are addicted to power. There, the motto is ‘our way or the highway.’ They are bereft of good ideas. The W H is a sick joke.
It makes no difference what we mortals can create. Our ideas will never be implemented.
That’s what separates us from the elected criminals who infest Washington, Mike. WE live in the real world. Those in Washington live in and cling to what amounts to a perverted utopia that must be crumbled and shattered. OUT with the status quo. IN with functional, republican government (and I do NOT mean the #@^*#%& ‘Republican Party’).

  • David in MA

I find it unnerving that when something is favorable to obozo it’s good, when that same thing is unfavorable, it’s bad. obozo is a president of convienance, if it is convienant to his agenda he spouts it off, otherwise either silence or a put-down.
Congress has to remove obozo from the office he holds illegally, NOW! For if they wait to see if he gets re-elected America will be lost, for if he is re-elected they will not dare touch him, if he obozo thinks he will not be re-elected there will be civil disobiedance and give him his crisis to suspend what’s left of the Constitution and declare martial law, when and if that happens, America enters the third world arena of will the American military support obozo like some backwards nation or will they remove and jail the bastard and support the Constitution they swore to uphold?
I fear the lower ranks especially will support obozo, why, because most of the enlisted are minorities, just like uganda, somolia, etc., that is when socialism is really instituted~~with the help of the UN forces……far fetched? No, not really, it’s been in the works for a long time now and no one suspects it can happen, and that is exactly why it can happen.

Brad – I think the title is “The Agenda: Grinding America Down”.

Is there a site where you can view the whole thing, or do you have to purchases the DVD?

      All I found were trailers.

It looks like a remarkable, and important, piece of work.

  • Wapitiman

How can Nobama talk about ‘ignoring’ state’s powers when he totally and blatantly ignored the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)which was a legitimate law! Wasn’t the first act this supreme hypocrite-in-chief did, was to take an oath to uphold/defend the Constitution? (ergo, the laws of the United States)

    • Brian

Legitimate law? Really? For a law to be legitimate the Constitution must authorize it. Where in the Constitution is the authorization for the DOMA law?

      • 45caliber

Where in the Constitution does it authorize gay “marriages”? For some reason I can’t find that there either.

        • smilee

It does not authorize gay marriages but it also does not deny it but the 14th amendment says laws have to apply laws the same to everyone and that makes the DOM act questionable and most likely unconstitutional.

          • Palin12

Was’t it Bill Clinton who signed DOMA and Dont Ask Dont Tell into law?

          • smilee

      Wapitiman -
      Do this:
Go to YouTube & search for Larry Sinclair. You’ll see WHY Obama is ignoring the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Because HE is gay. Check it out……….you’ll see………then you will KNOW. I also encourage ANYONE else who is looking for a reason for the things Obama does.
Not to mention that he’s got some liberal brain damage.

      • Push comes to Shove

So your saying Michelle is a beard?

        • Kate8

Push – Her masculine appearance notwithstanding, Michelle is, no doubt, window dressing. To get to the office of POTUS, he needed a wife and family.

There have been many questions about O’s past, like, “Where are any past girlfriends?” It seems that they can’t find any.

And, there is much evidence that he has been involved in gay trysts. One, Ed Young, was murdered. Larry Sinclair is another who survived the attempt on his life. Plus, it appears that when he was dealing drugs, he was also engaged in male prostitution.

Another possible reason for lack of female company would, of course, be his Muslim religion.

Take your pick. He won’t allow anyone to see into his past, and the ones who have investigated him are kept out of the press as much as possible.

Some have been threatened and even prosecuted.

If you want to save America, it will take a shoot to kill revolution. No amount of voting, or impeaching the jackass in the White House is going to help us. Essentially, we are finished! The left has been very busy creating a liberal base, and kissing every ass they can to do it. So when it comes time for a vote, guess which way the vote will go?

    • professor

The government has been “fundamentally changed,” these last three years. The muslim is creating an “elite status,” for all that work in a government position. Government employees have their own healthcare and retirements. They do not participate in Social Security, and do not participate in obamacare. They have salaries that surpass, sometimes double, the amount paid for the same private-sector jobs. Their benefit packages have been stuffed with more and more goodies! To what end, is the muslim doing this.. He is further dividing Americans….those in government are being pitted against the lowly working slobs in the private sector. Where do most people want to go for jobs…they want government jobs. The rest go get lower-paying private sector jobs, with very little in benefits. This has been turned up-side down and inside out. There is an ever-increasing number of government jobs and government is growing out of control, And, most of those being hired in government jobs are minorities!

To give the government the power to make demands of all Americans to purchase a product, is perilous. That would add to the ever increasing power of the government (and obamacare increases the government control over most every aspect of our lives)…..Remember when Black Panthers radical members said that there would come a point where all White, newborn babies would have to be killed, to keep them from growing up and becoming “oppressors!”

      What about “capitalists” or “evangelicals!”
Will there come a times when they need to be eliminated, for the good of the country… This may be an extreme example, but a lot of extreme things are happening in this country. I never thought that saying, “God or Jesus” would be against the law! I never thought that it would be a crime to fly the American flag, in America (not fair to foreign people living here!) We are not allowed to talk about “muslim” terrorists, that is “profiling.” We cannot “identify” our enemies if they are anything but White. Blacks or muslims are off-limits! Black on White crime, is not punished, but encouraged by the lack of even so much as a rebuke!

Real Americans have given-in to these radical groups, thinking that the things they wanted could never be done in this country….Wrong!
Certainly, a couple of elections will not solve the problems we have. It will take a lot more and all real Americans will have to be involved. Those that will want to sit-on-the-fence, will do so at their own peril.

      • 45caliber

And now Muslim groups are sueing in court because states are trying to pass legislation that bans a judge from considering any foreign law rather than our own law in any case before him! It is a violation of their ‘rights’ to have their own Islamic laws ignored here!

        • Kate8

45 – Now that they’ve got their foot in the door they’ll keep pushing and gaining ground, inch by inch.

Sickening that our government has not only allowed this to happen, but they planned for it.

          • exbobbie

45 caliber and Kate8, Hi, did you know that there are now approximately 80 Sharia Courts active in the U.K. There are also areas in Londanistan (previously known as London) that have signs posted stating that these areas are now under Sharia law and if you enter those areas you will be subjected to Sharia law. I advised my brothers to go out and buy prayer mats, they informed me ‘no thanks’ and because they live in Nottingham, and are ‘sons of Robin Hood’ as it were, they would prefer another Holy Crusade. Where the hell is King Richard when you need him. Seriously though with this administration the same could happen here.

        • http://?? Joe H.

did you get the report saying that the Muslim group is again pushing for the building of the mosque in NYC? They are doing a funraising that puts a groundbreaking date of 9/11, the tenth anniversary of the tragedy!! what a slap in the face to ALL Americans!!!

          • Kate8

Joe H. – Yeah, and Obama’s right there with ‘em. I’ll bet he’s laughing his head off with this one.

    • 45caliber

The problems I see with a shoot to kill revolution is that 1) they have control of the buttons on the nukes and I don’t think they would hesitate to use one on any group that might threaten their power – regardless of who else it might kill and 2) the revolution would almost certainly be reduced to “everyone is the enemy” (or at least “anyone who doesn’t look like me is the enemy”).

So what Obama is saying is that those of us who have done the responsible thing need to fork over more in order to provide health care for the free-riders.
Nothing in the bill I’ve seen eliminates the free-riders.

  • Betty

It is with a broken heart that we still must fight Obamas evil ways every day.. This was no doubt the biggest mistake ever made in American History. We all know that this imposter is going to fight like Hell when he is out of office. We should not stop until Obama has to show all hidden records, what a disgrace he has done to the American hard working citizens, but, on that issue he does not care at all, his only care is to destroy the American way. Pelosi should be hanged, she is the one who sent the letter to Hawaii knowing for certain Obama was not qualified. We should not stop any effort to remove Obama and Pelosi must be removed along with Obama. Betty

    • 45caliber

I thought Clinton was bad but at least he tried to work with the Dems in Congress to get what he wanted passed. Oblama tries to order it done behind closed doors.

I think Michelle said it right when they first came in. She commented that the previous Presidents hadn’t done the office right – they didn’t treat it like royalty. And the President position made the President (and his wife) royalty. They should be treated that way. And kings give orders.

    • Kate8

Betty – Thanks. I’m still enjoying the visual of a hanging Pelosi.

      • DaveH

        Too late. She’s a zombie.

Pelousy signed the statement that the Dems had vetted Oblama and found he fulfilled all requirements to be President. The next day she signed a second one that left out the part about being born in the US as a requirement. So, yes, I’m certain that she knew he wasn’t born here.

  • Morduin00

Funny how he is quoting Mitt Romney verbatim from the last Republican debate to justify Obamacare. Unfortunately, he makes one major mistake that Romney didn’t. Romney was correct when he said it is the states’ perogative to implement what is better for the state; not the federal government. This is clearly spelled out in the Constitution.

In addition, Romney also stated that what worked in his state might not work in other states. At least the people in Mass had a voice in the matter. With Obamacare, we had no voice… a direct assault on the intentions of the founding fathers when they drafted the Constitution in the first place.

    • FlaJim

Actually, Romneycare doesn’t work and has driven prices sky high. For that reason, there’s a concerted effot to get a measure on next year’s ballot where the people could repudiate it and return to the status quo.

      • Morduin00

Thanks, FlaJim, for the info. I had heard rumor that the prices skyrocketed but haven’t had the time to look. I do know that Romney states he regrets some of the package in retrospect. However, is that just stating what the voting public wants to hear or is he being sincere?

What are the chances of that effort being successful? Do you have any poll data that I can look at?

      • 45caliber

Romney also said it was bankrupting the state. For a few weeks it seemed as if he was going to repudiate it but I guess he decided that if he did someone would insist he was too wishy-washy to be President. Now he supports it again.

  • AJ

Would that mean that Obama’s Auntie who is on the dole here in this great country would have to pay for health insurance? I doubt it. I doubt she’s even got a green card. She belives this is a great country. She’s on a free ride!

    • 45caliber

She does have a green card. She got it less than a year ago if my timing is correct. The immigration board decided that she would be prosecuted if she returned to her own country since she was his aunt and gave her one.

I was always taught that family took care of family. Yet it is obvious that Oblama doesn’t believe that. When he took office it was pointed out that his brother, in Kenya, was living on $50 a year. He could go to school and learn to be an auto mechanic for $1000. One of the conservative commentators took up the money and gave it to him as a point that Oblama wouldn’t do it even for his brother.

    • ValDM

The O’boy’s auntie was granted citizenship shortly after he assumed office. Before that, she had been living here as a political refugee, on the taxpayer’s dime. You should here her speak of America, the “free” country. Why should she have to work, when everything in America is “free”? Her words, not mine.

Whoever said that life was “fair”?

Every time my kids told me “It isn’t FAIR!”, I would say, “Who promised you fair? Life isn’t fair!”

Is it fair that some people have a bad leg and others don’t? Should we require everyone to have a leg amputated because someone else had it done? Should we insist that everyone have a lobotamy because someone is born with the mind of a two year old?

Of course, life isn’t fair! And it is ridiculous to insist that it should be “fair” by taking everything from someone who works hard for it because someone else won’t work.

    • Song

good point 45. Life is indeed NOT fair, however, we have been conditioned to believe that it should be fair to the point where anyone with a disability to a learning disorder believes that the system should work for them and be all about them. I do not mind assisting people who need assistance but you begin to cross a very fine line when you believe that your rights trump anyone else’s rights. That is what No Child Left Behind did for education for example, to the point where nobody is getting a good education. People should be allowed their right to fail.

I saw some baseball tourneyment recently had a scoreless tourney. No one kept score. Everyone had a trophy. It was “wrong” for one team to win and another to lose. It would harm the egos of the losers if they kept score.

Someone this morning on the news stated that the reason the rioters were out causing problems was their lack of ego. Actually, it is the fact that their ego is WAY to high! They feel that everything should belong to them and can’t understand why everyone else won’t recognize that and give them whatever they want.

        • Kate8

45 – What’s being done is discouraging anyone from wanting to excel.
Why would anyone want to strive for excellence when someone who does nothing receives equal benefit and acknowledgment?

It’s like the teacher who gave a test, and everyone got a “C”, as a lesson in socialism.

The ones who deserved “A”s felt shortchanged, and the ones who deserved “D”s and “F”s felt entitled.

  • http://n/a John Beach

If the criterion for “Constitutionality” is “having the ability to,” then those who do not have the ability to pay for health insurance are unConstitutional. Raising taxes on the rich in order to pay for health care for the poor is not a fulfillment of the “individual mandate” to pay for a health insurance policy. “You can’t be a freerider on everybody else….????” (Quote from article attributed to the President)
If this is not political “doublespeak” I don’t know what is!

My husband and I own a business. We do not have health insurance. When we have interviewed companies to obtain insurance, they quote premiums of $2000/month for our family and a $10,000 deductible. The coverage would only be for catastrophic events. My husband has a terrible history of kidney stones. He averages surgery for stones every 5 years. Each surgery costs about $15,000 for the hospital and even more for the surgeon, anesthesiologist, lab work, IVPs, etc. In order for us to use insurance to pay for these surgeries, we would have had to pay roughly $34,000 before receiving any benefits. Obviously, it makes more sense financially for us to just pay for the surgeries out of our pockets and we do. We certainly do not expect other people to pay for it for us. What angers me are two things: first of all, when we go to pay for the surgery–which is required upfront before they perform it–we sit in a room full of non-English speaking Mexicans. We watched each one of them go up to the desk and be told they were all set for surgery and no payment was required of them. We were the ONLY ones to have to hand over a check–and a large one–before surgery. I have a huge problem with that. Second, I resent the attitude by our law-makers and others that we are second-hand citizens because we so foolishly do not have health insurance. With premiums that high on a relatively useless policy coverage, why would anyone want to buy it??? Just because someone does not have coverage does not mean they are mooching off society. Some of us pay a lot for our own health concerns.

    • 45caliber

I know exactly what you mean.

One lady I know had a baby in Dallas. She and her husband had to pay 50% up front prior to the birth. Her room mate – Mexican – was illegal. This was the illegal’s fifth child – and it cost her nothing. The hospital gave her a basket of things like diapers, etc. It cost my friend about $60 on her bill. The Mexican told her it was easy. All they had to do was tell the hospital they didn’t have insurance and the hospital covered all the bill. My friend had to pay close to a thousand dollars WITH INSURANCE before they would even let her in.

45 I see this same type of example played out every single day. As a social worker I work with generational welfare recipients, the disabled and the addicted on a daily basis and there are 2 words that most of them all have in common which are: “I Can’t”. It is only their mindset that holds them back and the fact that they have been ENABLED all of their lives.

Agreed Elevenarrows. I pay for all of my health care. I go to clinics and have also found a doctor that bills by the minute which has saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over the years. I have looked and looked for affordable health care for the “catastrophic stuff” and none of it is at all affordable. Like you said it amounts to hundreds of dollars per month, while at the same time my taxes are going to pay for some schmuck who runs to the ER every time they feel a little funny.

While this is slightly off-topic, natural remedies for kidney stones always say a magnesium-rich diet & supplemental magnesium does wonders for kidney stones. Such foods to include are: spinach, yogurt, nuts & seeds.

      • Elevenarrows

I appreciate the tips, ValDM, but without being too graphic, my husband’s problem is a little more involved. He also takes a calcium-magnesium, potassium supplement and spinach is one of the foods he MUST avoid. He almost lost a kidney at age 23 and some of his difficulties stem from scarring left over from that surgery. He is not a candidate for breaking up the stones either. We live in what is known as the Kidney Stone Belt of the nation. Our family grows and eats only organic veggies. We raise our own meat and eggs. We drink purified water as basically our only beverage. The urologists say that he is probably one of the worst cases they’ve treated. We’ve been dealing with this for 20 years now. Believe me, if there is a natural cure/prevention to be found, we’ve tried it! At this point, we just try to have the money saved before the next surgery. I sincerely appreciate your concern and advice, though.

Anybody who does the right things for his/her body and takes care of him/herself, shouldn’t even need health insurance because they shouldn’t ever need medical care. We are so fortunate to be able to research natural healing methods. If I ever get that sick that I can’t handle it, I’d be just as happy to leave this earth and be free! Too many people run to the doctor for every little thing, wasting money and the doctor’s time.

        Awwww … Rigggghhhht!

      • DaveH

So then, Karolyn, are you against people being forced to pay for other peoples’ health care since the latter could just take better care of themselves and accept their fates?

        • Kate8

Actually, DaveH, I pretty much agree with that statement.

If people want to VOLUNTARILY pool resources and form a kind of private insurance, that’s great. But no one owes anyone else healthcare.

These days, it’s difficult enough managing our own health, and that of our families. Let other people take responsibility for their own, like we do.

There are foundations for people who really need special help. I’ll bet if healthcare wasn’t such a racket, you’d see even more foundations to help the truly needy.

          • exbobbie

Hi Kate8, Years ago in the U.K many people who were sick of the dreaded NHS (National Health Service) complained and as a result a group called BUPA was created. It is a privately run health insurance plan that now has its own hospitals and clinics. It is now in many countries and serves millions of people, I suppose in some ways it would be akin to Kaiser Permanente and other such organizations. I know people who use it and they love it. The care and attention they get is far superior to the government run NHS. By the way folks, there is no such thing as FREE health care. People on government health care in other parts of the world all pay for it through payroll deduction or other means, except of course those on welfare and illegals.

I agree whole hardheartedly with Obama when he says it is not fair for everyone else who is responsible to have to pay for those who are irresponsible. What I disagree with him about is how you keep it fair. It does not take one law or any government program to change this. If the laws and regulations requiring hospitals to treat everyone without regard to ability to pay where removed then everyone would be responsible for their own healthcare. It is very simple.

Now some may say that is cruel and put a huge burden on the poor, which of course is not true. The truly poor have medicare so they have insurance. Those of us who do not have insurance can pay our own way which will be easier because the cost of going to the hospital would immediately drop 40% to 50%. This is truly fair. What Obama talks about is not fair. I think all those liberals should really invest in a dictionary because they are delusional.

    • 45caliber

It isn’t fair to pay for everyone who isn’t responsible. SO … obviously the thing to do is REQUIRE that we pay for everyone who isn’t responsible. Sounds like a plan to me …

Keep in mind that liberals tend to believe the words and not the actions of others. So, yes, it is all double talk. That is what is so important to them. If they tell you something, you are supposed to listen and believe their words – not the fact that they are robbing you with one hand while stabbing you in the back with the other.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

    – Knowing when to come in out of the rain;

    – Why the early bird gets the worm;

    – Life isn’t always fair;

    – and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

    He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

    I Know My Rights

    I Want It Now

    Someone Else Is To Blame

    I’m A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Mr Obama is presupposing the outcome of the GOP elections. No one guarentees that Romney will get the nomination. There are several conservative candidates that would serve the country better.
As For OBAMACARE it needs to be repealed, everything the American people are finding says that this law will not accomplish what it was said to for the American people. It will not give health care for all, it will cost much more than stated initially, It will make it near impossible to people on MEDICARE to find a doctor. There are to many still hidden taxes within the law. All this because it was pushed through Congress without anyone really looking at the law. So much for transparency.
Vote for Change – Dump Obama in 2012

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you’re not a racist, vote against Obama in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.

For a consitutional lawyer he sure doesn’t respect or uphold the spirit of the law. Corp.’s are people if they’re giving money, but exempted by whim. Different standard for all the little taxpayers. Let’s forget border security, and this super congress! Not constitutional either. Pay me and keep me in the lifestyle I enjoy. And I’ll tell you what to do and you’ll pay for it.

Muslim exemption from Obama care mess.

This is basically Government Support for Muslim Religion.

No, you cannot have a National Prayer day.

And yes, you need to have your religion object to this insurance based on their dogma.

Why would obama care about Muslim religion and ban all others?

I checked out the fact that Muslims may be exempt from Obamacare and here it is. Looks like Pelosi was not far off when she said that we have to pass the bill before we know what’s in it. The Amish pay their way without insurance…and I know this to be true as I was in the emergency room when my first husband had a heart attack and while there, two Amish workers fell from scaffolding and were severely injured. It seemed like the whole Amish community was in the emergency room, and they were gathering the resources to pay for the expenses. But this exemption for Muslims is a slap in our faces.

D himmitude is the muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be “gambling”, “risk-taking” and “usury” and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.

Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period.

This is Dhimmitude/

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don’t believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. “Sure, I’ll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?”

The new Obamacare legislation that was forced on unwilling Americans this week specifically mandates that we all purchase health insurance. That is, unless you don’t believe in that sort of thing. That’s right, the current health care bill contains a clause which exempts certain individuals form the requirements and penalties set forth in it.

—In the case of an individual who is seeking an exemption certificate under section 1311(d)(4)(H) from any requirement or penalty imposed by section 5000A, the following information:

In the case of an individual seeking exemption based on the individual’s status as a
member of an exempt religious sect or division, as a member of a health care sharing ministry, as an Indian,
or as an individual eligible for a hardship exemption, such information as the Secretary shall prescribe.”

    Senate Bill, H.R. 3590, pages 273-274

There are several reasons why an individual could claim exemption, being a member of a religion that does not believe in insurance is one of them. Islam is one of those religions. Muslims believe that health insurance is “haraam”, or forbidden; because they liken the ambiguity and probability of insurance to gambling. This belief excludes them from any of the requirements, mandates, or penalties set forth in the bill. Other excluded groups include Amish, American Indians, and Christian Scientists.

So, is it that easy? Is simply being a member of an “recognized religious sect” enough to exempt an individual from Obamacare? Not quite…the information provided by each individual must first be verified against the records of the Social Security Administration, and possibly Homeland Security, in order to prove citizenship and religious status.

If the records are found to be consistent with the information for the individual applying for exemption, only then are they eligible. If the records are found to inconsistent with such information, the individual applying for exemption is given 90 days to clear up any possible errors with the reporting agencies.

That 90 day period can be extended upon the discretion of the Secretary of applicable agencies.

If, by the end of this period, the information is still not cleared up, the individual can then apply for an appeal.

Whereby exemption can be decided, or reevaluated on a periodic basis, by the individual agencies in question. The appeals process is determined by the individual agencies involved

In short, each individual applying for exemption must verify that they are citizens and that they are actually members of a “recognized religious sect.”

If the individual can make it through all of the bureaucracy involved in this process, they can then obtain exemption. Trust me the federal government doesn’t want to make it easy for anyone to get out of participating in the system.

The real question is, ”which religions qualify for exemption?” It’s easy to argue that Muslims, Christian Scientists, and the Amish will be “recognized,” because they have a moral conflict with insurance. However, what argument will Christians be able to make for exemption? Will they be able to claim exemption due to a moral conflict with publicly funded abortions? Not likely.

ObamaCare discriminates against Christians and Jews by denying them special exemptions extended to other religions.

If you are a mainstream Christian or a Jew, you need not apply to Opt Out of ObamaCare; that exemption is reserved for Muslims, Scientologists, Amish, Christian Scientists and Native American Indians who have a conscientious objection to insurance. A conscientious objection to theft committed by rouge politicians under the color of law with the threat of violence for non-compliance isn’t sufficient in America today to exempt average Americans from the stranglehold of government.

Believe it or not, if you are a Muslim you may claim a special religious exemption to Obama-Care that is denied to main-stream Christians and Jews. Or if you prefer a New-Age religion to Islam, you may become a Scientologist and Opt Out of ObamaCares mandatory pur-chase of health insurance. Or, if you happen to be of Native American Indian extraction you too can opt out of the insurance laws by which everyone else in America must abide.

There are several reasons why an individual could claim exemption, being a member of a religion that does not believe in insurance is one of them. Islam is one of those religions. Muslims believe that health insurance is˜haraam”, or forbidden; because they liken the ambiguity and probability of insurance to gambling. This belief excludes them from any of the requirements, mandates, or penalties set forth in the bill. Other excluded groups include Amish, American Indians, and Christian Scientists. – Quote from Liberty & Pride Blog

They can OPT OUT, why can’t you?

What is next? Allowing Muslims to opt out of mandatory state automobile insurance laws?

If you are a typical hardworking American who pays the freight for this healthcare Obamanation, you are required not only to pay the taxes to support free and subsidized healthcare for others, you also will be required to purchase health insurance or pay a fine if you don’t while certain favored religions and ethnic groups are allowed to escape the governments maw. The U.S. Constitution supposedly grants ALL Americans equal protection of the law but under ObamaCare, some Americans are clearly more equal than others.

Make no mistake, ObamaCare is a law specifically written NOT to apply equally to everyone. It is the single biggest act of discrimination enacted under the color of law since Jim Crow Laws. One Congressman, Jim Hare of Illinois, let the cat out of the bag in shocking fashion when he admitted he didn’t worry about the Constitution when legislating ObamaCare into law.

They can OPT OUT, why can’t you?

Even more astonishing, the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus admitted that the purpose of ObamaCare is as much about redistributing income sharing the wealth ”as it is about reforming health care:

Health reform is an income shift, Democratic Sen. Max Baucus said on March 25. It is a shift, a leveling, to help lower income, middle income Americans.

In his halting, jumbled style, Baucus explained that in recent years ˜the maldistribution of income in America has gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy, and the middle income class is left behind. The new health care legislation, Baucus promised, will have the effect of addressing that maldistribution of income in America.

Hand in hand with income redistribution and religious discrimination comes the iron fist of government and outright control of the people by bureaucrats, which Congressman John Dingell of Michigan admits will be the eventual consequence of ObamaCare. His only regret is that it will take so long to erect the mechanisms of control.

Religious Discrimination, IRS oversight of religion, blatant theft euphemized as an income shift, and control of the people with the threat of violence disguised as law enforcement, these are the purposes and consequences of ObamaCare as admitted by the very legislators who voted to enact it into law. By our representatives own words, the U.S. Congress has come completely un-tethered from the U.S. Constitution and gone off the rails.

    This law must not stand.

They can OPT OUT, why can’t you?
