Obama Is The Drone President

December 29, 2011 by

Obama Is The Drone President

The Administration of President Barack Obama is responsible for an emerging global apparatus for drone killing, says one report from The Washington Post.

The apparatus is made up of dozens of secret facilities, including two hubs on the East Coast, virtual Air Force cockpits in the Southwest and bases in at least six countries on two continents, according to the article. Obama is quickly becoming known as the Commander in Chief more involving tactics to carry out the secret killings of adversaries than any U.S. President in history, and drones have played a vital role.

The growing drone program has blurred the lines between the CIA and the military, and the White House has taken great pains to avoid divulging much information about the programs structure, according to the article.

According to the article, when Obama took office in 2009, the Nation’s secret drone war was confined only to Pakistan, where 44 strikes over five years had left about 400 people dead. Since then, the number of strikes has soared to nearly 240; and the number of those killed, according to conservative estimates, has more than quadrupled.

And the extreme right drones on and on about Obama being a “do nothing” president. Or, “doing the wrong thing” president.

Which drones do you think are better?

    Rob

    • s c

Slave r, your panties are down and your bare ‘face’ is showing. What does it take to get through to people like you? Your prez is acting like a god-substitute. His methods have been taken straight out of Hitler’s playbook, and you REFUSE to take a hard look at him or his methods.
Do nothing? There’s no difference between doing good and doing what’s CONVENIENT? Wouldn’t it be interesting if a prez decided that it was time to take out an American citizen in America, and the target was mistakenly identified as ROBERT SMITH?
Clerical errors can be a bitch, can’t they genius?
What would be the solution THEN, you utopian drone?
Is there ANY reader who doesn’t understand what is so utterly STUPID and IMMORAL about giving absolute power to someone who acts like a god substitute but doesn’t have the common sense of a CHILD?

        WAY TO TELL HIM SC

      • DaveH

It’s not just Obama. If it was, we’d be in no trouble at all. People would just ignore him. Our whole society needs a Moral Makeover.

      • eddie47d

There is no Hitler playbook SC except in your own sick mind.Personally I wish this country wasn’t involved in any of these made up wars. I wish this country would stop selling military hardware to dictators all over the world and pretending we are fighting for Liberty. When all we get is more killing and less freedom. Drones can be just as evil as our policies but which would you prefer SC American troops on the ground getting killed by the hundreds or using drones to clear out an enemy. I know that is hard for you to make that choice but try and wrap your brain around it. Isn’t it better to take out an enemy leader with Navy Seals or Drones rather than having endless troops killed? Maybe for once you could really think about an issue before sprewing your incoherent babble.

        • Opal the Gem

Ask not who the drone comes after for it comes after you.

        • s c

Stormtrooper/jockstrapper ‘e,’ ‘power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.’ I will never understand how utopians can be so incredibly stupid that they can’t or won’t understand it. It is a fact of history. Safe to say that you also specialize in ignoring history.
Is it hard for you to get insurance? Someone who walks around with his/her eyes closed must fall down a lot. Did Santa bring you any knee pads or something to break the constant falls?

        • Kate8

eddie – Why don’t you read about Hitler’s playbook and see if it isn’t exactly the same tactics.

You make statements like you know what you are talking about, when you’ve never done the research. Oh…Obama claims a “D” by his fraudulent name, so he must be okay…

He’s also learned well from the Soviets.

sc is exactly right on. As usual, I might add.

And you, as usual, are pointless.

          • eddie47d

Not even close Kate. You and SC are too far gone to be rational about anything. Good Night!

        • AVCurmudgeon

eddie, what you completely fail to recognize is that these are military strikes into the territory of foreign sovereign nations with whom we are not at war. Moreover, Obama and his myrmidons refuse to acknowledge that there is any state of war between us and Al Qaeda or Hamas or whoever. So what is the justification?

Obama used a drone strike to kill an American citizen who was involved with Al Qaeda. No presentation of charges, no trial, no verdict in any court … just a top-secret decision to take him out. The body count of non-US citizens continues to rise, yet we are said not to be under attack.

The fact is that Obama is keeping us in an ongoing state of combat, without Congressional oversight or sanction and completely blurring the distinctions between the military and the CIA. Yet this is a man who wants us to believe that Israeli atrocities are responsible for Palestinian terrorism. What is the payback going to be for what he is doing today?

Just ask yourself what you would be saying if it were Bush instead of Obama, and try not to laugh too hard when you say “it wouldn’t bother me then, either.”

          • eddie47d

Not to get to far off Obama but Nixon pulled the same actions in Laos and Cambodia. Laos was so secret few even knew about it until years after the Vietnam War. There was no war in Lebanon for us yet Reagan sent in troops and took alot of casualties. Obama is only doing what history has shown him what to do. We must change the attitudes in Congress and all the Presidential handlers (including Obamas)if you want positive results. Now some of Israels activities have lead to Palestinian terrorism and some Palestinian terrorist activities are nothing but cold blooded murder.I’m not fond of our foreign military policies whether in Libya or Iraq but someone better have the courage to stop this continual insanity.

          • Carole H

            AVCurmudgeon,

I may agree with much that you say, but I do not agree with your views on the Israelis, you seem to think they are A-Okay and always in the right.

Maybe you should read the History of Zionism, note, it is written by Jews.

            http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/zionism/history.cfm

Read it, it is well documented. You know if the Israelis were not such bad neighbors in their neighborhood, they would not be so hated there.

I believe they are playing a very dangerous game, they may well be bring on their own destruction. As we may be as well. They cannot keep up these actions forever, with out consequences.

“By means of shrewd lies unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell – and heel heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.”

          Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler

This seems to be the playbook for Obama bin Laden and those of you on the left. Haven’t made that popping sound yet? FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • eddie47d

Come on Samurai. Johnson and Nixon lied about Vietnam. Reagan lied about Guatemala. G Bush lied about Iraq. It’s ingrained in our politicians. Maybe you need to be making that popping sound or renew you teaching certificate. We’ve been on the dance floor about this several times and Obama isn’t the only one doing the two step. When you can connect the dots you’ll get your certificate back.

          • http://naver samurai

Bzzzzz, wrong answer ed-duh. It was Nicaragua and not Guatemala. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • http://naver Samurai

OK ed-duh, since you brought up Vietnam, can you tell me who were the Pho Duk Lao? I also know about Cambodia and this is possibly how Pol Pot was able to gain power. We just pushed them deeper into Cambodia. Any other easy questions or statements you want answered. You said Bush lied about Iraq. Which Bush? The father or the son? How about FDR trying to get us into WWII earlier than 1941? Read about a ship called the U.S.S. Gordon James. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

      • JUKEBOX

He sure is a DRONE President. He has droned on and on about how much he has inherited from Bush, how unilateral the Repubs are, how great he is and on and on etc.

    • DaveH

What is wrong with you, Robert? Do your morals change depending on who’s in charge? If it had been Bush carrying on the drone attacks, would your moral opinion of them have been the same?
Is murder without due process okay if a Democrat is in charge?

I think we’ve become a Society of Immoral Criminals, and it’s going to cost us big time. Unfortunately those who do have morality will have to suffer right along with those who don’t:
      http://mises.org/daily/4125

      • Robert Smith

DaveH asks: “If it had been Bush carrying on the drone attacks, would your moral opinion of them have been the same?”

The initiation of the drone programs headed towards where it is today was under Bush. It took that long to get the technology right. Had today’s technology been available then I’m quite sure Bush would have escalated the use of drones and it would have been something I would have respected.

As it was when we were attacked he sent the Bin Laden family home when everyone else was grounded. He ran the war as a political effort and never quite got it right. The same fallicy as ‘Nam. It turned into a quagmire.

By targeting leaders (and that “American” you claimed was killed was a bad guy. Senior Al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki is now back to being a good citizen not hurting America anymore.)I think we are waging a more efficient war with minimal collateral damage.

Countries who support terrorists can expect collateral damage. It’s the penalty for supporting terrorists. If determined to be a good strategic move I wouldn’t object to an entire city being taken out.

        Rob

        • DaveH

I said anything about an “American”? Do you Liberals even know how to read?
You didn’t address any of my questions, Robert. Surprise, Surprise.

          • DaveH

And wow, this says it all “Countries who support terrorists can expect collateral damage. It’s the penalty for supporting terrorists. If determined to be a good strategic move I wouldn’t object to an entire city being taken out”.
Are you really that ignorant, Robert, that you don’t realize that everybody doesn’t think alike, and thus many of the citizens (maybe most), in that city you would Take Out, had nothing at all to do with the terrorists’ actions.
You’ve outed yourself, Robert. A guy who claims to be concerned about other people (of course it’s with somebody else’s money) willing to purposely kill innocent people to achieve his goals.
I guess that shouldn’t surprise me.

          • Kate8

Good work, DaveH. And well said.

Rob likes to make inflammatory statements just to get us riled up. He shows himself to be a complete idiot and hypocrit, time after time.

I find him to be one of the most obnoxious posters to ever darken these threads. Brings back memories of American Liberal and TimR.

          • Jay

Dave, why do you even try?

          • DaveH

It’s my mission in life to expose the ignorance and arrogance of pushy controlling Liberals.

          • DaveH

Thank you, Kate. I appreciate the support.

          • http://naver samurai

Well said, fellow patriots. Rob is just upset because he’s been caught in too many lies by Joe H, Jeff H, and myself. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        • Jay

Thanks for the chuckle Rob, i needed that! LOL

        • http://naver samurai

Bzzzzz, you made one big mistake there, Rob. It was the libs that got us into Vietnam and messed the whole thing up. They even made it possible to not win the war. Neeeeed to be making that popping sound. What would you know about Vietnam, since you were not there. My uncle (24 years USAF) and my father (32,5 years USN) could tell you a lot. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

P.S. Did you write your check yet? Did you visit the gravesite of the child you had aborted?

          • eddie47d

We could go back to Truman with involvement in Vietnam but it was Eisenhower who sent in the first advisors. Kennedy sent in more but wanted to pull out but then Johnson took over and Robert McNamara encouraged him to escalate the war along with Dean Rusk. Johnson took the war to new heights in troop strength. Then he bowed out and Nixon took over and the air war increased with almost equal American casualties as under Johnson. The war didn’t officially end until May of 1975 under President Ford. That war never should have been so why are you so hard on Rob especially with that “aborted” comment?

          • Robert Smith

Samurai continues to lie. I never had a child aborted.

I’ve posted that information to him before so it is deliberate.

It’s what I expect from the reich wing.

            Rob

          • http://naver Samurai

Sorry Rob, but you sound a lot more Nazi than any other lib here. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

P.S. Why do you always use the personal attack of “reich wing?” We believe in smaller government, lower taxes, stronger military, and letting local officials handle their problems with any interference from the federal government. Why would you hate that, when your side supports infanticide, queers, no one possessing fire arms, and shredding of the Constitution and our Christian founding? Neeeeed to be making that popping sound.

        • Carole H

          Robert Smith,

So you are against the U S Constitution? WTF? U S Citizens are entitled to a fair trial. We may think we know. But do we?

Look what these stupid wars have cost us. And think of all the dictators our government has supported that committed acts of terrorism, look at all the terrorists our government trained and continue to train at the School of Americas.Of course it now has a different name. Same reputation.

Talk about your terrorist funding, terrorist harboring states. We have harbored and protected some of worst terrorist the world has ever known. Do you read at all?

When you live in a glass house you really should not throw stones. And you do live in a house made completely of glass Pal.

Take a look at our history in Angola, we liked making little bombs that looked like cute little toys or delicious food in a nation of hungry people, or to look like useful things. That is why Angola held the title of the most amputees per capita than any other nation in the world. They also held the title for the most child amputees per capita. We did this to them. Most people would call that terrorism. What we did in Iraq and what we do in Afghanistan is terrorism. Look up the meaning for that word and you will have to agree.

We should take a very good and close look at ourselves, before we criticize others. That is why we are so hated today, we are the pot calling the kettle black so smugly. Us, the Christian nation. The nation with the most churches per capita. What would Jesus think of making bombs look like toys. Christian nation my ass.

      • Carole H

        DaveH,
I fear you are absolutely, totally 100% percent correct. The insanity must stop, the corruption ended. It is becoming our down fall. Let us stay home and let the countries of the world run their own affairs, let Corporations take their hits, just like the rest of us who have businesses do.

If some country wants to try Communism, let them, we were allowed our experiments in a new form of government. Who knows, some country may come up with a new form of Communism ?? that works, or some other form of Capitalism that works. But who are we to dictate to others what they should do.

What in the world is wrong with leading by example?

        • DaveH

          It makes the Leaders poorer.

    • Lastmanstanding

bush and obama…both facists…forget right/ left bs…God gave you a brain and really hoped that you would use it objectively.

having common-sense was also an attribute that he gave most of us…

      • JUKEBOX

Common-sense has become a vitriolic, racist, four letter word in the liberal lexicon.

    • Mark in LA

Bombing people never works in the strategic sense. It didn’t work in WWII. It didn’t work in Vietnam. It might get a few tactical wins but it never wins the war and it only makes more terrorists. Pakistan is losing control of its tribal reasons and the army is tired of getting their soldiers killed. The drones are doing more harm than good.

      • eddie47d

Any kind of military action creates angry citizens here and in the country we are invading. We need to move beyond war to solve our problems with the world and least stop creating the problems in the first place. I’ve heard several Presidents in the past and candidates in the present who say we will hunt down terrorists no matter where they hide or which country they hide in.This bluster has been said by Republicans,Conservatives and Democrats alike. So now that they are following through on their remarks we go into shock and act like it it’s not right. Which road should we take? Michelle Bachmann wants to take on Iran and you can be sure she will be using Drones. Should we stop her or any other Presidential candidate in their tracks or allow this next war to proceed?

      • JUKEBOX

Did any of your liberal teachers teach you about Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Those bombings were most effective, with a LOT of collateral damage.

        • http://naver samurai

It was also decided upon with a lib controlled House, Senate, and a lib president. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        • eddie47d

You should ask yourself if it was it right or wrong at the time not whether a “Lib” was in charge. Was WWII worth winning and was it justified. Those nuke attacks will be debated until the end of time. I personally don’t believe the second one was necessary so we all have opinions. We did have alot of casualties on both fronts and many wanted to bring that war to a close.

        • Carole H

And Jukebox, they were done to a country about to surrender, they were done for already, they were done with their own failed bombing campaign which got them very little, so our Nuking of their cities was a totally unnecessary attack on civilians who were already suffering horribly because of the actions of their own government. I am not proud of that myself.

Ever wonder why we did not Nuke Germany? Maybe cause they were white? I think we dropped the nukes just to see what they would do. Ugly.

          • Robert Smith

Question asked: “Ever wonder why we did not Nuke Germany?”

Because the fire bombing of places like Dresden was quite efective. The city was pretty much wiped off the map.

We had several avenues of mass destruction available.

            Rob

          • http://naver Samurai

Yes the firebombing of Dresden was brutal, but shouldn’t of happened. Dresden was a college town and had no military interests at all for being attacked. No industries, bases, troop concentrations, etc., nothing. There were even rumors that the British started it as revenge for the fire bombing of one of their cities, but that city had military interests, like industries. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

  • Steven Jokinen

The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground. History, in general, only informs us what bad government is. A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government. Most bad government has grown out of too much government. The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread. The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson 1776 Lets start the revolution !!!!

    • DaveH

The revolution we need is in thinking and morality. We are in a severe shortage of both.

      • http://naver samurai

I highly agree with you on this comment. We do need more of both. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

      • Carole H

        I agree DaveH,

We cannot win with guns, we are out gunned. We need to do it peacefully. The OWSs have made a great start at it. With a strong movement of ‘encouraging people to move their money out of the big banks and into small community banks and credit unions’. That was done all over the world.

Sprock, how many Czars did Bush appoint? How many of his appointments were peopele who couldn’t figure their taxes, had attacked the party conventions, blew up the homes of judges they didn’t like, returned statues in the White House of America’s allies and heroes, don’t know how many states are in the Union, take million-dollar vacations several times a year and compare those to going to his own Texas ranch where he works and entertains dignitaries, coverted with the world’s worst dictators or if he chose pretends they are allies while insulting real allies?

    • JCfromDC

      Try HUNDRED MILLION dollar vacations!

    • eddie47d

Which American ally has Obama abandoned Barbara. Surely not Israel who wants to stand alone in their decision making. Can’t be Britain or France or there never would have been a coalition formed in taking out Gaddafi. Can’t be So Korea with that new trade treaty. Can’t even be Canada since the pipeline has extended into N. Dakota,Montana,S.Dakota and Nebraska for several years now. Canada certainly isn’t hurting from us being a good trading partner. An American President has to communicate and negotiate with a variety of world leaders and some are not the best of friends. It takes a real leader to take on an adversary face to face. Doesn’t mean we have to like them but the channels have to be kept open to avoid future conflicts. You Barbara seem to have the head buried in sand syndrome which is if you ignore what is going on in the world it will all go away. What is this business that “judges homes have been blew up”. I must have missed Obama doing that. So please explain.

Maybe you are on equal footing with Jukebox ..Samurai in being nasty. Did you enjoy it? When those countries came together (NATO) it became a coalition so stop being so smug. We need to stand up for Israel and the Arabs who want freedom. Obama knows this and so do you as a veteran. Apparently someone else has their head up the “wazoo”.

But next time, let’s have the president get approval from the House and Senate before we start bombing, like it says he must do in the Constitution. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

  • http://Boblivingston Gottaplenty

The first thing to remenber is, Obummer hasn’t got the ability to do any thing that takes good sense, He learned to sign his name ,thgerefore any paper layed before him can be signed, such as killing Bin Laden. He hasnt done anything beyond swing a golf club, and we make much tadoo about that…

Obama is the drone. Question is, who is flying who?

  • jopa

A drone attack in Bora Bora would have been a great solution in the demise of Bin Laden. No, instead it cost us tens of thousands of dead and wounded and over a trillion dollars.Mr. President, you da man.Keep up the good work.

    • Jay

I’m with you jopa, hip hip hoooray! I was beginning to think that this guy can’t do anything. I guess i was wrong. It seems he can blow sh*t up! Yeaah!!!

David Will thinking about a thing make real change? And when you say morality is whats needed is taking the moral high ground going to make things happen? NO I fear not it is only in the gathering of people in protest that unite under one flag that the banner of freedom is realized. Vote for a person that will stand behind the moral high ground that for 30 years has agreed with the founding fathers in defending the constitution for our life, liberties and pursuit of happiness. Join the revolution. Ron Paul for President.

“He that would live in peace and at ease, must not speak all that he knows  nor judge all he sees.”
    Ben Franklin

  • Raggs

Well let’s just use drones to kill everyone that disagrees with the US.
We can do this in the name of peace? Since we are at it lets just pass laws to give the government full control that way they can dictate any crisis they create and the outcome…

  • Jonathan

Eddie, did you know that all violence, war, poverty, racism, and bigotry comes from rejecting Jesus Christ. There is a reason why up is liberty and down is tyranny and up is Heaven and down is Hell. Bet you didn’t know that, bet you didn’t care either.

  • Anumber1

How long before the Feds, under Obama or someone even worse later, use attack drones against US citizens here inside the US?

  • Steven Jokinen

They already have the power to do that. Someone has to label you a terrorist and your GONE.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEY_wQYgzPY&feature=watch_response This is the so called Homeland Security Bill that passed congress which allows for you or anyone to be treated as if you have no rights. To me it sounds like the government is peppering for an attack from its own people. Sounds like they are scared of what we will do because of what they have done. The revolution has started.

  • Steven Jokinen

Bachman voted yes for the NDAA which gives us indefinate detention. National Defense Authorization Act Instituanlizes Military to keep you detained. http://www.youtube.com/watch?http://www.thisis50.com/forum/topics/obama-signs-ndaa-martial-law-meaning-the-goverment-can-put-you-in?xg_source=activity

These are the facts on the NADD

  • Jack

That’s a good thing isn’t it? Don’t you guys like killing people? Obama increasing the drone strikes is right up your alley. You should be happy.
