No Way To Get A Recovery

September 14, 2012 by

August’s dismal employment numbers. Many economists predicted that the August numbers would show 125,000 to 150,000 new jobs being created, but the official number from the Bureau of Labor Statistics came in at 96,000 new jobs. Plus, the numbers for June and July were revised downward by 41,000 jobs. Even worse, some 370,000 people left the workforce during the month. So for every person who got a job in August, four others stopped looking. That’s no way to get a recovery.

Clint Eastwood’s empty chair. Folks are still talking about Clint Eastwood’s remarkable talk at the Republican National Convention. Since then, the Hollywood megastar has expanded on his remarks, calling Barack Obama “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.” In an interview with The Carmel Pine Cone, the former Carmel Mayor said: “I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for the people in the middle.” He concluded: “A lot of people are realizing they had the wool pulled over their eyes by Obama.”

Larry Flynt offers $1 million for Romney records. Pornography mogul Larry Flynt took out full-page ads in The Washington Post and USA Today offering to pay an “up to $1 million” bounty to anyone who could bring him the “unreleased tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships” of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Last year, Flynt offered $1 million for proof of infidelity by then-Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry. He didn’t get any takers then, either.

Conservatives donate more than liberals. Many thanks to columnist Thomas Sowell for reminding us of how generous conservatives are. They donate more money, on average, than liberals (even though their incomes tend to be smaller). They also donate far more time to philanthropic activities, and they even donate more blood. The only time liberals are more generous is with other people’s money — that is, your taxes.

Not only is the new jobs numbers in the tank but real income of those working is down for the fourth straight year according to an MSNBC article,

  • Cindy

Show me the jobs plans put forth by the repubs. Show me anything except the 164 filabusters. Show me any effort by the repubs to help stop this situation. On the day of the presidents swearing in, those in power in the republician party, were busy ascting as terrorists trying to thawart a recover, just to make him look bad. To hell with the country we will take it down just to get rid of him. They didn’t know what he would do in office, prior to making decision to take him down. What is your defination of domestic terrorist?

      Oh. Cindy:
On the day the current occupant of the White House was sworn in, BOTH Houses of Congress were in the hands of Democrats… from the TWO PRIOR years (and Obama was one of them) and for TWO YEARS AFTER “HE, the Messiah” was sworn in. How could he lose? he had the WHOLE of the government in HIS pocket, didn’t he? The Republicans LOST BIG in ’08. They had NO power in either House OR Senate.

So how does that “terrorist” accusation fall on Republicans (and Libertarians, and Independents) who were in the collective MINORITY in BOTH Houses?

His OWN PARTY has rebelled against him numerous times and leaned “right” when it was in their interests (to keep their seats).

Oh, yes, but it was all Bush’s fault, wasn’t it?

info for the open minded. Please not that the median of 97,900 and the median in 1983 of
94,100 is a gain of $3,800 in a period of 29 years. Reagan economics on display.

    • Vicki

Additional info for the truly open minded:
“Over the preceding three-year period, the median had been basically unchanged,
and the mean had risen 8.5 percent. The changes for both periods stand in stark contrast to a pattern of substantial increases in both the median and the mean dating to the early

Note the last sentence. “a pattern of substantial increases in both the median and the mean dating to the early 1990s.” – The early 90′s include both Reganomics and the rise of conservative control of Congress (~1994).

If you voted for Obama because he is black, you are a racist. If you didn’t vote for Obama because he is black, you are a racist. I did not vote for Obama because his campaign was all talk and no substance. He did not say what “Change” was and now we know and I’m glad I didn’t vote for him. independent voter

Poor Cindy……..she cannot spell or punctuate properly. I guess she must have gone to school just to eat her lunch.

And by the way, I just got laid off of my job two weeks ago. I was there for 13 months.
4 layoffs from 4 different jobs in 4 years. It is not a democrat vs republican issue, because both parties suck !
