National Day Of Prayer, Thai Fun, Obama Names And BP

*Maybe we should pray for them. By all reports, the National Day of Prayer May 7 was a huge success. I say “by all reports,” but actually there were very few mentions of it. Did you hear anything on television or read in the press about the Pentagon “disinviting” Billy Graham’s son from speaking there to mark the event? Or all the lawmakers and staffers who joined Rev. Franklin Graham on the steps of the Capitol to mark the event? Sadly, the White House declined to send a representative to the event.

*Now this sounds like fun. We just received a note from a niece who is working as a missionary in Chiang Mia, Thailand. She says the city recently celebrated the Thai New Year with a water-splashing festival. “It’s the height of the hot season,” she explained, “and everyone took three days off to go around the city throwing buckets of water on everyone else. I was soaking wet the entire time.”

*How many names do you have for him? I mentioned in last week’s Straight Talk that the commentators to my column have many imaginative names for our Commander in Chief. Among the ones that we can print are Obummer, Obumbler, and Odumber. I think it’s safe to say that not every reader is a great fan of the man.

*Was it really an accident? The repercussions are still being felt from that terrible explosion on the BP oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The screams of outrage and retribution have been deafening. But until I read John Myer’s column in last week’s Personal Liberty Alerts, I had not considered the possibility that this was no accident, but rather the result of deliberate sabotage. John makes a compelling case; to read his important column, just click here.
