N.J. City Running Out Of Toilet Paper

TRENTON, N.J. (UPI) — Officials in Trenton, N.J., say City Hall is almost out of toilet paper and they need a new contract before they can replace the empty rolls.

Trenton City Council president Kathy McBride said Monday the city is down to a half box of toilet paper and one box of paper towel while the council is embroiled in a disagreement with Mayor Tony Mack about a contract that would keep city-run facilities supplied for a year, The Times of Trenton reported Tuesday.

“I’m embarrassed,” McBride said of the shortage. “I’m a little disgusted, and I feel we’re doing an injustice to the residents of the city and the employees.”

McBride and maintenance supervisor Paul Heater said facilities including City Hall, senior centers, the police department, the fire department, the museum and water filtration plant do not have enough supplies to last the rest of the week.

“It’s something that should be taken care of right away,” Heater said.

McBride called on her council colleagues to approve Mack’s proposed $42,000 contract to have paper products supplied to the city for a year.
