Money, Oil and Power

Money, Oil and Power

"The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them." Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.

China is building itself the world’s largest war chest. Not in tanks, planes or even secret submarines. It has accumulated the largest collection of IOUs in history.

In an age where real politik is of greater import than Otto von Bismarck could ever have imagined, China is positioned to use the once almighty buck against the very nation that gave birth to it—the United States of America.

The U.S. has unprecedented debt and its largest creditor is China. But Beijing has aims on much bigger things than accruing depreciating dollars. Number one among its objectives is access to Middle East oil.

China Zeros in on Middle East

With real gross domestic product growing at a rate of 10 percent per year, China’s need for energy will surge by 150 percent by 2020. To sustain its growth China requires increasing amounts of oil. Its oil consumption grows by almost 8 percent a year, seven times faster than America’s! At the end of the next decade China will consume more oil than the United States.

There is only one place on earth that can meet China’s and America’s demand for oil and that is the Middle East. The region holds two-thirds of the world’s conventional oil reserves, and China is thirsting to control the world’s last remaining rich oil reservoirs.

Some 60 percent of China’s oil imports come from the shifting sands of Arab lands. By 2015 the share of Middle East oil sustaining China will reach 70 percent.

With Mexico’s elephant fields rapidly declining and Canada unable to make up the difference, the United States must also focus its attention on securing Arab oil.

“Where is the oil (of tomorrow) going to come from?” asked future Vice President Dick Cheney in 1999. “The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world’s oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies."

If Cheney understood the importance of the Middle East a decade ago, we can be certain that Beijing understands it today.

There is no question that China and the U.S. are planning a future powered by Middle East oil. The real question is whether this last bastion of crude can meet the demands of both countries.

“Tensions over oil resources reflect the larger distrust between the sole superpower and the rapidly rising China.” wrote MSNBC a couple of years ago.

History Lesson about Ike and Real Power

If push comes to shove, China may hold the trump card. The reason is its unprecedented leverage over the United States.

The U.S. Treasury is auctioning off $200 billion—yes BILLION—in new debt every week.

“China has an estimated two-thirds of its more than $2 trillion in reserves in dollar assets, including more than $800 billion in Treasuries,” wrote The Wall Street Journal on July 29th.

In less than two years China will have its hands on $1 trillion in liquid U.S. IOUs.

That one country would leverage the debt it held of another for political and economic gain is not unprecedented. In the summer of 1956, England and France hatched a secret plot to re-capture the Suez Canal with force if Egyptian President Nasser nationalized the waterway.

After World War II the ruling elite in London saw the Suez Canal as the Anglo-Saxon expressway to its remaining colonies in North Africa and India. The canal was also taking on new importance.

“In 1948, the Suez Canal was gaining a new role—as the highway not of empire, but of oil…. By 1955, petroleum accounted for half of the canal’s traffic, and, in turn, two thirds of Europe’s oil passed through it,” wrote Daniel Yergin in his bestseller: The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power.

That meant the Suez Canal was a potential chokepoint and the most valuable waterway in the world. Not a property to be trusted to Arab hands thought some members in the House of Lords. Key among them: British Prime Minister Anthony Eden.

So when Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, France and England were putting together a response. In October 1956, British and French forces attacked Egypt. Soon after, British paratroopers hoisted the Union Jack over the Suez Canal.

Eden knew that the U.S. opposed the operation. But he also knew that President Eisenhower would never send American forces into combat against its two closest NATO allies.

The Sun Sets on the British Empire

It turned out Ike didn’t have to. The Eisenhower administration forced a cease-fire on Britain and France without firing a shot. It did it with money.

At the time the U.S. was the world’s largest creditor and one of its biggest borrowers was Great Britain. The U.S. had sustained England through the war and was using the Marshal Plan to help rebuild the nation.

Ike told Secretary of the Treasury George Humphrey to prepare to liquidate U.S. government holdings of British bonds. London was made aware of Ike’s plan.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Harold Macmillan told Eden that he believed Eisenhower would sell England down the river if British troops did not withdraw immediately. He had an even more pressing message from Macmillan—if London resisted and the Treasury sold its Sterling bonds—England would be bankrupt within a month! The island nation would face a winter without food or oil.

The next day Eden announced a cease fire and evacuated England’s troops from Egypt. He did it without even consulting the French.

For centuries England had been indomitable. Yet, with a phone call, Ike had done what the Spanish Armada, Napoleon’s army and Hitler’s Luftwaffe had all failed to do. He had brought the British Empire to its knees.

England was humiliated. Britain would never again been seen as a world power and its currency, the Pound Sterling, began a freefall which lasted for decades.

As the above chart shows, in 1956 it took almost $3 to buy a British pound. But a long decline in the value of the pound that had started in World War II began in earnest. By the 1970s London no longer had the financial wherewithal to peg the pound to the dollar. By 1985 the pound was trading at par with the buck!

Bond Market Peril

Britain’s and the pound’s decline occurred as America rose to super-power status. Today America finds itself where England was half a century ago—defending its interests, but facing an economic giant in China, a country that does not have the military to dominant but does have the money to dictate their vision.

Last spring the U.S. Treasury market was close to panic when China hinted it might want to diversify out of U.S. government debt. And as an investor you should understand that China doesn’t even have to sell its huge holdings of U.S. Treasuries for the bond market to go into a tailspin.

All it simply has to do is sit out a few Treasury auctions. If that were to happen, market forces would drive up U.S. interest rates. All of which makes today’s political and economic environments very risky for bond holders and potentially lucrative for real asset investors.

Dick Cheney eh? He put the sword of Damocles over the heads of an entire nation using terrorism to plunder and then hiding behind it’s namesake curtain like the scared little perfidious and odious traitor he is. There are 58000 good Americans who died in Vietnam…he hid, but ya know what, he sent the next generation into the hades he so desperately avoided. He didn’t use negotiation because he had nothing to say to begin with or he wouldn’t have his position; it’s either dance or die, you’re working for Satan or you don’t work in the Whitehouse or Manhattan. Sell your soul and dance for a while, you won’t like the ending, the best is yet to come.

    • Del Street

One question Thomas, how long and where did you serve in our country’s military. Your use of the english language indicates that you come from a priveledged and educated backround. My family came to the shores of this country in the middle 1700′s, just in time to fight for independence. I have had ancestors and relatives fight in every war since, some making the ultimate sacrifice so people like you can make like bodacious fools. This is the only country in the world to come as far as we have to be the most productive and powerful country in the world in just 200 plus short years. All of that thanks to individual liberty, freedom and capitalism. We now have an administration in office, and a majority in the house and senate that will sell us out to maintain their positions of power and authority. We, the prolitariate (in their view) are too stupid to recognize what it happening. Perhaps the confrontations over Obamacare in the townhall meetings will wake some of them up. It is interesting that when the National Socialist Party (democrats) organizes it is political activism, but when it is republicans or conservatives we are a mob. You better wake up Thomas! If you are not a politician or bureaucrat your butt will be in the sling with us. There will be only 2 classes of people. The HAVES (politicians & bureaucrats) and the HAVE NOTS (the rest of us).

      • Money, Healthcare and Power

        Thomas,

We just want our freedom back without gimmicks! Wake up!

Obama’s administration is the worst in history and has lack of transparency. American people want to know who would pay or lend us more money to pay for Universal Healthcare?

America will be forever in debt to the Federal Reserve in order to pay for healthcare each year. This will give them more money and more power to control our country and our lives. The government CAN NOT CONTROL CORRUPTION OR RUN social security, Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Now they want to run our health care, so our government can determine who will live or who will die?

        • elizabeth

          U ARE SO RIGHT.
PEOPLE BETTER SEE WHATS HAPPENING.WHY IS THIS GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED BEING PUSHED ON ALL OF US THAT DONT WANT IT?
          WHERE IS OUR FREEDOM GONE?

          • http://Personallibertysdigest Donna

where did our personal liberties go, you ask. it went to congress. We gave them away little by little over decades. We were too busy trying to make more money to buy bigger and better things. We were too busy doing this to keep an eye on our congress people. The first ones Thomas Jefferson submited were to clarify what the American people were supposed to have. the other (I believe over 900) were to give central government more power, under the guies of insurring the people that they were getting what they(the people)needed. Lawyers can cunfeuse those of us who cant understand their talk.

      • Thomas Bendoraitis

RE: Del Street…I’m honored by your response. No I didn’t fight for Johnston, or Stalin, or Churchill, or Hitler or the Bushwackers but I’ll tell you one thing…they all dance to the same piper, the banker industrialists and when the Chinese pull the plug on the economy, it’s always the same handful of players that have been at it since Moses was in diapers.

Your message reads somewhat convoluted, I can’t ascertain whether you agree or disagree.
Your perception of independence might be somewhat skewed since in reality, the Monarchy never really lost control of the New World; read the treaty of Ghent…they always kept control of the money and that means, control of you! Essentially what they said was, here is your sandbox, go dream and play but we control the money, the navy, the airforce the army and everything you depend on. Hey bud, I’m as much of a victim as you and so are my children, do some research. Rockefeller bought encyclopedia Britannica in 1900 so he could rewrite history in favor of the haves; check it out on google…just say’in. Thanks again for the response, at least you care.

I am not so confident that Americans pushing back against “Obama-care” will really make a difference. There has been a shift for many years in political thinking that has led to thoughts that the few know better what is best for America. And, if that wasn’t enough, I think it makes political sense for them to vote for it. Why? Because once “Obama-care” is passed, many of those currently opposed to it are smart enough to realize that if they want future health care that they will have to vote for those politicians that will keep “Obama-care” in place. Even those that oppose it would only talk about how to change it instead of actually getting rid of it. I don’t want “Obama-care,” but I am not Americans actually deserve better.

Personally, I like this article because it illustrates the power debt can have over a nation. It sort of flies in the face of those who’ve been telling me that is okay for the nation to go into massive debt while saying that it is wise for me to get out of debt. Usually based on the argument of macroeconomics. Why do I want out of personal debt? So my creditors do not control my life. Amazing that it seems we don’t worry about international creditors controlling the future of America. And here I was given an example of how international debts were used in the not too distant past. The irony being that it seems that not long ago, it was America that was the creditor in power.

Mr. Del — Mr. Thomas, I presume both the former and the latter with the utmost respect intended…. :-)

Greetings, gentlemen! What a lively discussion. It seems to me that Mr. Del, you might be mistaking Mr. Thomas’s identification with education to mean privilege and apparent upper-social-class wealth. You may be correct, however, this is, of course, merely an observation and not meant to be taken to escalate either defense of these considerations as the topic is clearly one to be taken with great care concerning the interesting balance of events and situations globally as they currently exist.

I’m personally given the impression that since the U.S. declared itself a democratic nation (learned as the history that I know) the U.S. has forgotten that although it’s independence was “won” against Great Britain for it’s apparent “tyranny” the U.S. has also forgotten the concessions granted to individuals during their stay on the east coast prior to the Revolution….you know, that whole “Salem Witch Trials”, “outlaw experimentation” ordeal and so much more than merely a head turned. With this, I agree with Mr. Thomas concerning the sandbox allusion.

That said, I believe it also fair to comment on the U.S. condition in which we “make our own beds to lie on”. I can say honestly that my oath has been first the U.S, then her neighbors and allegiences (in the order of their priority, naturally). Standing from Mr. Del’s view, I can more than certainly understand resorting to the control of the environment surrounding an individual or team or group of teams targeting for or against each other (depending on the situation and/or synergy of an assembly or peculiarity) and believe that I might be able to say with confidence that I understand position and bearing regarding choice of “who lives” and “who doesn’t”.

        Del,
When asked to serve, Cheney said he had better things to do. Do me a favor since your family has a rich tradition in serving the country, make a list of those things that is more important than serving our country.

        • Del Street

Don, my problem with the statement made about anyone not serving for any reason, seems to mean that anyone who did not serve has no right to serve in a capacity to send others into battle. That attitude is not exclusive to the left, but most often comes from the left directed against anyone they do not like. I am not as concerned with the quality of one’s service or lack there of in the military as I am with their deep and thorough understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I think Cheney did as good a job as could be done under the circumstances. There has never in history been a negotiated settlement with “extremist” Muslims that was honored. Their psyche is deeply rooted in 7th century reality and has no equivalent in today’s world. They seem to understand only 4 things (life, death, domination, defeat). How do you negotiate with beings that think in 7th century terms? They have no respect for you, your way of life or your right to coexist with them in the same world. You are in their vernacular, an “infidel”. Something or someone to be dominated or destroyed if you do not convert to their ideology.

      • http://aol Don

        Del,
I agree with you about extremist. You did not answer the question. If you studied Cheney’s life after he made that statement, he followed the money, oil, and power which is the “theme of the day.” His actions speak volumes on what he believes what is more important than our country.

I do feel we should try to get back Laura Ling and Una ? from Iran. It is very sad that the government of Iran is still killing Christians, Jews, Baha’is, gays, and other pacticular ethnic groups just because they will not join Islam. They have killed about 100,000 people for the duration of about 170 years. The people there still needs to protest, or they will be in the killing fields.

        • Joe H.

          Don,
How exactly did he do that? Even the very rich at the time Ali went to jail for refusing to go when called. An awful lot of people went to colder climes IE Canada to avoid the draft.(we had one then) the government asked him to go and he just said “I’ve got better things to do”? I don’t think so!!! There were other things involved!!!

      • Robert

Both parties are working for the same mob. Nothing is ever accomplished. They point the finger at each other. The republicans sold us on WMD’s. The health care project is about making money on fee’s. Soc sec. Is dried up they need a new means of finance to flot the def.

        • Joe H.

          Robert,
The repubs sold us on nothing! The French and Saudis maybe. The dems were just as responsible as the repubs, my friend!!!

    • Joe H.

      Thomas,
Actually it was 59,191 at the end of the war and a few who were listed as missing in action have been found. Their names and the men that have died as a direct result of battle wounds will be added to the wall in D.C.. Ones who have died from cancers from exposure to defoliants there will not be listed as they are ASSUMED to be exposed!!!

      • Joe H.

Excuse me Thomas that should be 58,191 at the end of the war. I noticed my mis-stroke of the key just as I tapped the submit comment!

  • Cathy L.

China will be a major player in end times. Once the U.S. succumbs to the collapse of the dollar, which Obama is steering us towards, we will no longer be a world power, as we’ll be forced to use the one-world currency. I believe Rev 18:19 is referring to this event where it states, “And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, [New York?] wherein all that had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.”

China will eventually invade Israel, then Russia will follow. Obama will have long since
abandonned Israel even though he tries to divide Jerusalem, giving part to the Palestinians and part to the Jews in an attempt to create a peace treaty. But God will never allow Jerusalem to be divided because it is to be the capital of his heavenly city that descends to earth for the millenium. For those who believe in
pre-trib rapture, we won’t be here to see this. PTL!

    • Sheila

You are so right. Obama is taking us toward socialism so fast most will not even know what happend. He is destroying our dollar to force a one world currency, religion, government. People wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to witness and get our love ones saved so we can all be raptured together. Soon and very soon. Look up your redemption draweth rye.

      • Gregory J

Wasn’t it the 43rd President who trainwrecked your economy? He was the one who bought the banks with $700 billion of your money, right? Seems fairly socialist to me… but then again, I’m Canadian, so what do I know

        • Richard Hood

Curious, how do you like your health care?

        • KRIS

Hi Richard, Perhaps you are not aware that the worlds econmic downfall is planned and is not party realted. It is realted to those behind the big banks – this is not secret information and alot of this can be easily studied on line. Just look up http://www.conspiracyarchive.com – there may be some interesting information to help you understand if you are interested- This president and those past are interested in a one world order and key words and phrases are easily noted in most all of their dialogue for those who understand the hidden motives. However at this time the motives are no longer hidden and the plans are becoming painfully evident to the entire world. Good luck with your health care system, I can only hope America will not be so inslaved.

        • Gregory J

Like anything government-run, it’s not that great, but it tends to work. In my experience, it’s good to know that there’s somewhere you can go in an emergency that will accept you unconditionally (unlike the ex-wife!) but when you get there, the service is never very exceptional (like the ex-wife).

        • Lena

I agree! In my experience (living the first half of my life in the US and the rest here in Canada) I would take the sacrifice of better health care for only the fortunate few to okay healthcare for everyone. Sure you have to wait your turn but everyone is welcome and no one is turned away. If it worked that way for other things such as the distribution of wealth- I would rather everyone has a little bit of something, than a fortunate few have it all. Quality of life would be better that way. A worthy sacrifice if you ask me.

          • http://Personallibertysdigest Donna

Isn’t medicare, medicaid, welfare socialized care? I know people on these things. They get inferior care. How would this benefit all of us again. I’m not convinced it would yet.

          • Joe H.

            Lena,
Please don’t be so fast to do away with MY rights! I have very good coverage that my wife and I both worked for and would like to keep, thank you very much!! Maybe if something happens to put you in dire need of good health care will open your eyes. I hope for your sake it doesn’t come to that!!

gegory…perhaps your ex could not accept you unconditionally because she was not a dog. And if you expected her to “service” you….well you should have got yourself a paid “ho” who would service you. ..but I do hope you have found yourself a good dog..because there is no better love than a good ol dog. I have 8. I guess you can tell I am being funny. After reading these sites…I`m going to have a stroke worrying about what is happening to our country. I did not vote for Obama…how could we have been so stupid?? Those who put him there need not have looked any further than the people he surrounded himself with.

        • Gregory J

Well, technically the ex-wife was a prostitute when I met her, so its a bit of both. Let me tell ya though, she did not take her work home with her, if you know what I mean. Getting serviced by dogs is not legal in Canada, you ‘mericans are crazy! Don’t even have a public health care system…nuts.

      Cathy:

It is abundantly clear that BHO is a demon-possessed person that Almighty God is using to fulfill His plan for the end times. God has abandoned Amercia because of it’s immoratlity, corruption and for turning away from the Truth. However, there is still hope in that if Christians will rise up and pray for their Country, the Lord will intercede and restore our land. As Christians, we know what is coming because we have the Bible for our “compass” and all of the prophesies are there to tell us what is coming.

You do not negotiate with terrorists. Obama is doing the same thing in Afganistan.

As far as Vietman I believe a Democrat by the name of LBJ went into this war to make money. I guess the next Satan will be Obama by selling the USA down the river by bowing and kissing the feet of the Muslims. I hope the American people wait up and take back our Country and get Obama and his Cronies out of office before it is too late.

    • Sheila

Anybody that believes Obama is a Christian and not a Muslim needs to wake up. The under 30 crowd and the eliteist got him in office and they are going to be destroyed with us. Moving your money to gold or silver or Euros. Nothing is going to save us from this devil of an administration unless we repent of abortion, homosexuality and turn back to the one true God, Jesus Christ. Then maybe God will have mercy on us. If not, then I’m rapture ready. Come quickly Lord Jesus.

      • Rick

Man are you telling the truth.. This guy is NOT the Anti Christ. He is Satan himself!

        • RFS

My God, people…think for yourself would you! I mean it seems logical to assume that’s why God supposedly gave you all brains! However, listening to so many of you, I’m beginning to think that brain dissemination was not universal afterall. Do you really need religion to tell you right from wrong? Are you really that dense and pathetic!? Focus more on Ethics and less on those who spout self-serving Biblical interpretations.

It’s bloody-minded fundamentalists in ANY religion that make this world a dangerous place. Your foul attacks on the President only point out what weak-minded fools you are; your comments demonstrate a woeful blindness to your own ingrained prejudice. You wrap yourselves up in your Faith without ever understanding that Jesus was a man of Peace, not war…a man of Love, not hate…a man of inclusion NOT exclusion! To people like you it’s always ‘us vs them’…and NOT that we…ARE ALL HUMAN! We ought to always seek common ground, be able to agree to disagree sometimes, and always try our best to live and let live…in peace…following His example.

Fundamentalists are so easily brain-washed (a quick process where so little brain is, apparently, in evidence). Fundamentalists cannot see beyond their religion’s built-in biases; their attitude is ‘we’re right and everyone else is wrong, period’! Those dangerously-stupid attitudes are what allowed the 9-11 mass-murdering maniacs, those twisted Muslim fundamentalists, to delude themselves into believing they were doing ‘God’s work’ (as if God condones the mass murder of large segments of His ‘children’ in favour of another segment)…and that…after they flew those jets into the World Trade Centre, there would be dozens (I forget the actual number) of VIRGINS waiting for each of them in Heaven! My God, such intellectual heavyweights! Yeah right, women are nothing more than soulless sex objects…and, joy of joys, good news for all you male-centred morons, you’ll apparently still have a testosterone-driven penis in Heaven too! Oh yeah, and that clearly establishes that God’s a pimp now too…such F-ING MORONS! All they did was further an evil agenda of Terrorism.

And dont think that Christians or any other religion has all the answers either. So-called ‘Christians’ like Bush and Cheney cared more about profit and power than doing what was right. Indeed, I’m supposed to accept that, the Jesus I was told about in Sunday School, if He were around in these times, would have been glued to his TV set, in rapt attention, during the invasion of Iraq…rooting for Operation Shock and Awe! Hmm…what could possibly be wrong with that picture…I mean, besides everything!? If there’s a Lifeforce gently guiding our souls, then I cannot accept anything to be a Deity worth worship that would condone such rampamt brutality, inequality, self-righteousness, prejudice, greed and hate etc.

You bloody fools, President Obama has barely been in office for 7 months, and the economic crap you blame on him, was his inheritance from the Bush administration…the enablers of unbridled greed, and authors of the ecomomic morass we’re in! People like Cheney and his company, Haliburton, made (and continue to make) huge profits in Iraq (you dont see a serious conflict of interest there!?) And what about Enron? How about Bernie Madoff, etc.? Recent history has all been about ‘I’m already really well-off and powerful… but I want more…lots more!’ No wonder Greed is one of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’. Can you really be that bloody thick! Profit and power drove their policies, not altruism.

Now Obama wants to do the right thing…do something I sincerely believe Jesus would whole-heartedly condone… include ALL Americans in the receipt of good health care…and change a system that’s built on profit and ability to pay. ‘Oh… I’m sorry, but you’ll have to die… you’re just not wealthy enough to pay for the health care that could save your life!’ It seems a no-brainer to me that the Lord would support what Obama, and so many others with a heart like his, hope to accomplish. How did having a social conscious become a dirty thing? Because, those at the top of the Capitalist food chain, have power and money…and tend to be ruled by selfishness and greed – they see systems of equality and fairness as socialism; I see it more along the lines of what Jesus was supposed to be all about.

I’m a Canadian, and even if our healthcare system has some imperfections, it is, nonetheless, a more altruistic one. I dont have to worry about losing my lifesavings if the misfortune of a major medical emergency should befall me or my loved ones. Indeed, ALL Canadians are covered regardless of personal wealth. It’s simply right to apply the best possible care to everyone without exception. And if you truly, not blindly, follow your Faith, then isn’t that what Jesus would try to do?

Yes, true Christians are in a declinning group. Studies have shown that the Christian faith has lost 10% of it’s membership in the past 5 years, The hate and vile coming from the Christian right would make Jesus recoil in alarm.
We have let politics override our Christian beliefs.

        Dan,
I think you better go a little farther back as the war started in 1964. Started by Good ole Kennedy with promises HE made. I hate tricky Dick Nixon but put the blame where it belongs!!!

    • s c

True, normal people don’t negotiate with terrorists. This administration is best defined as abnormal in many ways. Their twisted, nation-destroying schemes involve going to bed with anyone who pretends to be a ‘friend.’
As for Vietnam, HST opened that door. He shipped small arms and ammunition to Ho Chi Minh long before JFK thought about Vietnam. LBJ made lots of money from that deal (via Hughes and helicopters). LBJ, however (compared to b o), seems to have had a conscience.
This time around, we can look forward to ‘leadership’ that has no conscience. Bad decisions will be made by bad people for bad reasons. The results will not be good for America or for the world. This is what happens when defective ‘leaders’ worship saul alinsky, mary poppins and peter pan. They’ve got to have at least one foot in the real world, Dan.

      • Gregory J

        HST? Like Hunter S Thompson?

        • s c

No, Gregory. In politics, HST refers to Harry S Truman. America’s Vietnam connection is much older than most people know. Most libs think JFK got us involved in Vietnam first. So much for elite ‘knowledge.’ Libs, especially, don’t like to talk about it, let alone do the research (or admit it).
Hunter S Thompson has little or nothing to do with politics.

        • Lena

Who is LBJ? Never good to have B and J in your initials. Oh wait… is it Johnson? These abbreviated names are confusing me. We all know the only president worth an abbreviation is JFK. And what is wrong with worshipping Peter Pan??

      • http://aol Don

s c; does that stand for sad commentator. Dialogue is a good thing. In all your commentaries, you show you wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice good Americans. Nixon promised to pull out of Vietnam, but after 6 years he just got deeper into it, sacrificing 21,000 soldiers. If dialogue fails, then one uses different strategies. Yes, I know about Chamberlain. The reason you can’t wait to get rid of Obama is to have your new man, if he wins, to go around the world to sacrifice soldiers and innocent people.

  • ONTIME

The most unreasonable part of our predicament for oil is that we cannot develop our own resources, we have untapped fields on our coasts , in Alaska, in South Dakota, we are rolling in oil but between the environmenalist, the politicians and the oil companies this nation’s resources have been put on hold, even our claims for the polar fields are being challenged by the Russkies and the PRC and Cubans are already tapping the fields off the coast of Florida. We are sitting on out thumb, soon there will be restrictive cap and trade in place that will stagger the industry in this country and bring manufacturing and energy cost up to unafforadable levels for the average person but you can bet those elites that are hobbling this nation will live exceedingly well from your misery. If you are relatively comfortable now, soon you won’t be and your income is not going to follow the cost increase. Best you take a real good look at who you vote for from now on.

    • Cathy L.

You are absolutely right. Why in the world would our congressional leaders cut
off our country’s nose to spite our face? With all our rich oil reserves off several
coasts, why do we let a minority group like the environmentalists tell us we can’t
get to the oil we need to run this country and remove our oil dependency on other countries? I have never understood it, except to think that maybe the environmentalists are such a huge lobbying group that help congressional leaders get elected/re-elected and then our senators and representatives owe them and have to payback with their votes on enviro issues. I ask: when did our country stop being
ruled by the majority and allow the minority to rule?

      • Lena

Oh great! So now it is the environmentalists to blame. I think you need to reevaluate the situation Cathy. The environmentalists are looking out for our future. Meaning your children and your grandchildren. The government is not out to help anyone but themselves. The few wealthy who seem to be controlling everything. Obama probably doesn’t have a say in most of the goings on so I wouldn’t blame him. People need to start asking more questions like why is the federal reserve a privately owned corporation and how does the government let them get away with it. The monetary system needs to be changed. This whole system of creating money/ debt out of thin air is creating the becomings of a huge depression.
I totally agree that the US needs to remove oil dependancy on other countries but that is pretty much impossible at the moment. No one seems to be even trying. The big corporations are still creating gas run vehicles and no one is attempting to rely on other sources of energy and commit to a real change. Factories for things like solar panels and hybrid cars should be made right away, which in turn would create more jobs for the population. But instead this debt is growing larger and larger and China is becoming more and more powerful.

        • Gregory J

          • Joe H.

            Lena,

        • John Myers

          Lena,
I am the last thing from a hippie and I like what you have to say about energy. I hope you will keep reading what I have to write.

        • DaveH

Sure the environmentalists are looking out for our future. They are fanatics on a power trip, that is all. See the below video:
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8qxVb9KoSc

As far as hybrids go, that is great technology, but the price of the car is not worth the gas savings. Figure it out, it’s not hard. Oh sure, maybe if the government subsidizes the car with taxpayer money. And what do we do when the people wake up and realize we are going to have a toxic metal problem when all those batteries start needing to be disposed?
A healthy economy is directly related to a clean environment. If the environmentalists help to destroy our economy, then one of the side effects is going to be more environmental problems.
I’m sure Cathy was not blaming all our economic woes on the environmentalists, but they are certainly a piece of the problem.

        • http://GUNControlisGovtControl homer

Lena, dear I am sorry you have taken the Al Gore baloney to heart, The environmentalists are NOT out for anyone but themselves and the control US. Let me give you one example of the crock of bull that Al Gore reasons with: He says that green house gasses are killing this planet and the CO2 is to high and it needs toi be deminished. Well, let me ask you a question? What does a plant and ALL green things live off of, what do they give off in return? IF you said plants live on CO2 and they give off Oxygen off. Plants thrive off of CO2 and when you fill a green house w/ lots of CO2 you cause the plants to grow big. Also to the ocean is also a majot supplier of CO2 like a coke fizzez that is the same W/the ocean. Lean, please don’t be deceived by the lies of Al Gore or the environmentalists They lie, God said that the earth will be burned up so forget the environmentalist kunk OK Thanks Bruce

there was a report out yesterday about the FACT that the main information gathering outpost in the Atlantic has been skewing the facts in their favor. They also dumped the original data so their results could not be checked or repeated. The only catch for them was somebody hacked into their computer and pulled up proof of these facts. The whole story of global warming is built on FAKE DATA!!!!

      • JimmyG

Anyone that is reasonably intelligent should know that Al Gores green house gas destroying the planet is a lot of unproven gobbledegook but that he personally will make Billions of dollars off of this scam. This whole cap and trade business is all a World class scam. Gore would have became President if he had won his home state of Tennessee but the people knew he was a crook and voted for Bush instead.

        • Lena

          Hey Guys,
I am not saying I believe everything Al Gore says about the Greenhouse effect. Sure plants thrive off CO2 but the problem is that when you start cutting down forests to create more CO2 producing environments you will eventually run out and people will start to have more and more trouble breathing and respiratory problems. This example is far off at the moment but I think people should respect the environment more than they do at the present. People should not throw cans out their car windows while they drive down the street. Simple solutions like proper waste disposal and recycling make a big difference. It is sad to see people don’t care and just because some of what Gore says is fasle doesn’t mean all people who care about the environment are just in it for themselves. If I am selfish because I want the human population to continue to thrive instead of drive itself in to the ground then I am sorry. I just want my kids to see the beautiful planet we live in before it is turned into a trash infested hole. Also, last time I checked the only thing Gore ever asked of us was to respect the environment.

Actually I am pretty sure Gore got his election stolen from him because Bush cried to his daddy and some strings were pulled. I think Gore would have put America and it’s economy in a better state than Bush did. But you guys can’t change the past so now you have to deal with it. Ameica doesn’t look like too big of a superpower anymore and I am so glad my parents moved us to Canada.

          • Joe H.

            lena,
Are you still cryingt that Bush stole the election??? Get off it. Explain to me how Gore has made around 300,000,000 since leaving office?

        • elizabeth

          YES WHAT A SCAM!

      • RFS

Cathy, Bruce and all you other ostriches with your head in the sand:
Screw that idiotic ‘oil dependency’ argument…our efforts are better spent on developing diverse, non-polluting forms of energy; fast-tracking the replacement of oil as our primary energy source and phasing it out as soon as possible. There are other, better options besides oil – options that dont ultimately ruin the planet for our children and future generations. Environmentalists are NOT the enemy. I cant believe people spout such utter, ill-informed nonsense!

Energy harnessed from the Sun alone has the potential to serve all of Humanity’s energy needs for as long as our star continues to burn!! Why dont we insist that these alternatives are developed/exploited instead of oil? Oil only exists in limited quantities, here and there, on the Earth, whereas virtually every nation on the planet has ready access to solar energy’s potential. And our Sun is going to be shining for billions of years to come. Take off your blinders!

Then there’s wind energy, which is a byproduct of the natural solar energy this planet receives, and it can help us to get there too…not to mention other things like tidal energy. Indeed, there are so many other better options to explore than this mindless reliance on developing oil reserves! I can agree that Hybrids ought not to be so friggin expensive, but I’m sure that with enough pressure refocussing government policies, I dont see why the Hybrid’s potential long-term problems (wrt batteries) should be insoluable. The immediate benefit of cleaner energy for our planet is well worth taking these paths.

        • DaveH

          Sorry RFS,
But you are the one spewing the ill-informed nonsense. That is the beauty behind a free market. People can jaw-bone all they want, but freedom of choice rules the day instead of politics. Most of the Liberal ideas didn’t stand a chance in the free market, so they had to get subsidies from the government to be competitive. The taxpayers who choose not to spend extra money on the alternative fuels in the open market have to pay for them anyway, thanks to you liberals. You are the one who is mindless. Take ethanol as an example. It takes energy to raise corn, then the prices are artificially inflated by government subsidies, and as more corn production gets diverted away from the food market, the prices of our groceries goes up. There are probably many other market distortions that I can’t think of off-hand or don’t know.
In your hatred of oil, you are wearing some major blinders. You are probably one, who every time the price of oil goes up, blames that on the greedy oil companies, instead of the fact that there is more consumption of oil than ever before, partly because of China, partly because of our military excursions around the world, and other supply problems. Also, the dollar is worth less now due to the Federal Reserve and the government flooding the market with excess money.
And the wind-generators are another liberal joke. They don’t pay for themselves; the government has to mandate that the power companies buy the juice even though it is uneconomical. Your own Ted Kennedy doesn’t want the wind generators where they distract from the view from his mansion.
I would be willing to wager big money, that if the conservatives had come up with the wind-generator concept, the liberals would have been all over the conservatives crying about the visual damage to our environment.
Yes, I want a clean environment also, but let’s use a free-market approach and reason and social pressure, instead of forcing our ideas down the throats of others through Big Government.

          • RFS

You seem to think that corporations and Free Markets somehow tend to, unerringly, find the right path for the good of us all. No doubt you believe in the Easter Bunny too. How charming. Your faith in the benevolence of unregulated, utterly-free and profit-focussed entities is foolish! Where have you been throughout this current economic collapse? Do you not read? I mean, it was on You Tube too, and everything! We just had a monster of a long-lived Free Market…and look where it’s taken us: the closest we’ve been in 70 years to another Great Depression! But I guess so long as you still have your job, what do you care if other lives have been thrown into serious turmoil!? Dont be such a selfish twit. Do you realise that Free Markets tend to move jobs where labor is cheapest? To my thinking, that particular free market choice alone is hardly a good policy to keep ordinary Americans prospering! On the other hand, it sure benefits the Americans who either own the industry being moved, or those heavily invested in it; demonstrating even more callousness towards one’s fellow man. Legions of Americans are watching their jobs lost to less-developed countries! To some extent, this is a good thing on the global stage, but, over time and unregulated, this policy will increase unemployment and drain the economy, turning America into a country like Brazil…good for the small percentage of wealthy Brazilians who control things with their economic clout…not so much for the vast majority…the average Brazilians with not so much money and clout. But hey, it’s a Free Market, so it must be right and good, eh!?

Wasn’t the Free Market just going full steam while Enron was really screwing Californians over re their energy needs? Do you know anything at all about that foul ‘Free Market’ company and how it operated? And Enron’s hardly unique. This recent long-run, bullish, Free Market also bred other money-grubbing leeches like Bernie Madoff. Wasn’t he the former president of the NY Stock Exchange!? Wow…wasn’t he already wealthy enough!? Apparently not. That’s the kind of crap your unfettered Free Market wrought. Rampant greed.

Tell me…where is the social conscience in a soulless corporation that worships profit above all else? Dont get me wrong, capitalism is worthwhile but, without a judiciously-applied social conscience to guide it, it will always tend towards being a heartless, greedy and decidedly unChristian, system…one no better than communism; evincing little concern for the burgeoning masses of the less-fortunate. WWJD? To me, it’s a no-brainer – He would NOT support the freedom to practise one’s personal greed at the expense of even one other human being! Indeed…how long did the Industrial Revolution exploit the poor? Until unions became necessary to counter the cruelties inflicted by the wealthy. My Irish-born grandfather was a poor immigrant; he toiled through 12 hr (plus) workdays, 7 days/week… usually working in dangerous conditions. Indeed, do you honestly think most capitalist purists, then or now, give a rat’s ass for your well-being or your family’s? I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume, because of your right wing slant, that you’re the type that tends to rail against unions too…never comprehending for a moment that, the very standard of living you now enjoy, IS BECAUSE your grandfathers, et al, had the courage to stand up to the wealthy factory owners who were exploiting them! They risked horrible beatings, and even death, to organise themselves and fight for a decent living wage and improve the living conditions for themselves, their children and their children’s children. Something to think about whenever you feel the impulse to condemn unions.

Indeed, some things, like healthcare, are better off with the oversight of the State. But, being the right winger that you are, no doubt your first impulse will be to mindlessly rail against that too. ‘Dang…that sounds like socialism! Quick everyone…mindlessly condemn it!’ But guess what…the State is us! WE are society. Here, let me say it again: in a democracy…THE STATE IS US!!! We vote it in…and we vote it out. If it doesn’t work well, then the freedom inherent in democracy will make the right correction…especially so in a well-educated State. On the other hand, we dont vote corporations in or out. Yes, individuals cheesed off at them have the option to NOT buy their product…but other than that insignificant, individual form of protest, a single person doesn’t have the clout of organised numbers to realistically effect much change in the operation of Big Business.

I found it interesting and informative that you said “the dollar is worth less now due to the Federal Reserve and the government flooding the market with excess money”…remarkably, you seem to notice the RESULTS of the recent Free Market orgy…money being thrown into the works hoping to stimulate economic revival and avoid a much larger catastrophe…all the while blind that the unchecked Free Market orgy WAS THE ROOT CAUSE of it! I mean, Geez – the ‘blinders’ you spoke of are clearly your size!

Re your comments about ethanol and wind power: at no point did I support ethanol in my comments, and fact is…I DONT support it. I understand the environment is NOT improved by the use of ethanol. Pay attention…I was talking Solar, Wind and Tidal power. However, being the right-wing drone that you are, you can be counted on to bring up a non sequiter like ethanol! However, you did proceed to slam wind generators, and I quote: ”And the wind-generators are another liberal joke. They don’t pay for themselves…” yeah…as if nuclear power plants pay for themselves right from start-up! They cost many billions each! C’mon now…how friggin dense can you be!? And where I live, there are many large wind farms already built, and many in the process of getting built.

And finally, liberals are capitalists too, but we’re also realists. Liberals are less trusting of those whose prime motive is to make as much profit out of you as possible. And Liberals dont trust that, magically, the choices of free people in a Free Market tends to be infallible. I was born in the 50s and I remember very well the oil embargo of the 70s. Afterwards, cars began to get downsized, but pretty soon the population (as populations always tend to) simply forgot about that old mess. Now, 30 years on, I’m astonished to witness the SUV revolution; gas-guzzling vehicles own the road! They’re everywhere – so much for cutting back on fossil fuels! Free Markets are like a herd of mindless lemmings heading full tilt for the nearest cliff! For you to trust that Free Market forces really care about the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the overall health of the biosphere, over the ruling bottom line (profit), is to gamble away the planet! It’s time to make a clean break from all those dumbass opinions that are killing the Earth.

            RFS,
And actually as far as the energy company gouging people it was the state government that caused that. I work in Oil its not Big Oil holding us back its a left that hates Big Oil true enough WE Do have the resources

    • Mark

I’m afraid a lot of you seem to be operating under a misconception. Alaskan oil is in fact being processed, a LOT of it, everyday, by the mineral rights holders at Cooper Cameron Oil. CC Oil is known in the oil biz as Big Brother, while the other US oil companies are collectively called the Seven Sisters. Even though they deal in oilfield equipment design, manufacture, sales, installations, and repairs, CC Oil does not do any sales of oil to anyone in the United States, only to foreign countries. That’s primarily why we have almost no Alaskan oil here, and also I believe why the repeated requests to drill in the Alaskan National Wilderness areas have been regularly turned down. CC Oil would be all upset if they had to be taxed on what they bring up from below ground, as all of it would then be taxable at the same rate.
As it is, it seems that No Oil sales = NO Oil Taxes.
Could there be a connection between the US Government and the buyers and sellers of CC Oil? Are they using foreign sales as a bargaining point in politics, Or maybe as leverage when needed?
That part of the occasion I haven’t completely figured out, so no further info in that direction until I have hard data.

It’s gone full circle…we dumped the Gold standard, said we’d never print more money than we could back, and watched the system percolate for the last 40 some odd years. Then, cranking up the printing presses in the last 9 months to ink out nearly 3x the money supply to set the stage for the greatest failure of a nation that the world will ever see, in one inexperienced moment of presidential on-the-job training we sit on the precipice of disaster. Soros is dancing somewhere gleefully. The elitist trolls think they are immune from the ravages of all this doom they have been a party to. On one hand the very nature of exchange says that the Sheiks won’t let us collapse because we fund their empire, but the world of Islam says they’ve achieved the moment of defeating the Great Satan. China sits patiently on the sidelines for the spoils–they outnumber any adversary regardless of their military strength at the moment. All this time the United States sits on its’ hands doing nothing to fuel itself with domestic energy and the way back to solvency–thanks to the idiots in Washington that pretend they know what’s best for us all while they line their pockets with special interest money, stack the deck with welfare voters they continue to enslave under the falsehood of social injustice, and rhetoric with rear-view miopic vision. The Citizens generate the capital in this Federal Republic, so give the Citizens they power to create and generate. Get gov’t, bloated career politicians with their power-hungry lifetime occupation of our law making. Enact the Fair Tax and abolish the feral IRS. Honor God and restore the Constitution!

If any member of the public obtains dollars without working for them or borrowing them it is STEALING. If government obtains dollars without working for them or borrowing them it is TAXATION. uuuuummmmmm !!!!!!!

      • s c

‘Here’s 300 more pages’ Waxman is a #1 useful idiot among his useful idiot friends. At the same time Waxman was ripping our tobacco industry (redistribute that wealth!), he was sucking up to the Chinese, to bring their tobacco into the US. What a prince of a fellow he is.
He never understood the concept of hypocrisy. If anyone in Congress rates a minimum wage salary, it’s Waxman.
How can Californians have such extremely low standards for sending people to Washington? No wonder California is so screwed-up. No wonder America is so screwed-up.

And Thee One said with a straight face not long ago Look to california but it was after all paid leftist Tv

So, while we are all focused on this Health Care reform, what are they really doing? What bills are they passing without our knowledge? What deals are being made? Watch not the hand you see, watch the hand you can’t see.

  • Lisa Wells

There are actually law firms out there trying to do just that! The American Center For Law and Justice (Jay Sekulow) has lawsuits pending. United States Justice Foundation has lawsuits going. The problem is, these firms have HUGE costs, Obama’s cronies are stretching out the lawsuits to bleed them and break them, strangling them with more time consuming, money sucking court costs. Orly Taitz has lawsuits going as well.
Why aren’t more Americans funding these groups who have the chutzpah to bring these powers that be to their knees??? PEOPLE WAKE UP!!! THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN, PLEASE DONATE!!!
They’ve got Foreign Troops on our soil, setting us up for chaos and civil unrest so they can lock us up in their internment/relocation centers.
I would like to see our military oust them just like Venezuela’s did to Zelaya, why won’t ours???? Our Constitiution is being shredded before our eyes. Use your voices, and those who have financial backing, use it!!! Get to know your government representatives. Make your voice heard!!! Write, call, show up!!
    GOD HELP THE UNITED STATES!!!

Were all screwed and have been for centuries. .001(if that many) of the global population control us because they own the media, monetary and education system outside of elected officials and civil policing. Take a look at your one-dollar bill. Does America have anything to do with the Egyptian pyramids and the all Seeing Eye that the odious FDR added to become a 32-degree mason for getting the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbour? That eye that is now being insidiously incorporated in our neighborhood watch signs blah blah blah etc. Why call 911? If I’m losing consciousness and my eyesight is failing along with my motor skills after an accident, wouldn’t 111 be a million times easier to dial? 9/11 get it?
It’s an old battle, that between good and evil, very old, and the good people of the world have never won it yet.
FEMA? You’ve got to be kidding me. It totally negates the voting and electoral process giving power to the same cabal that is stripping out America as I write. It’s all to much.

Here is the most important quote you might possibly ever read, iterated by Satan disciple himself.
“Let me issue and control a Nation’s money and I care not who makes its laws”. Amschel Bauer Mayer Rothschild 1838… My thought?…sounds like the antichrist to me.

      Some other thought provokers.

The German Philosopher Johann Von Goethe once said, “There are none more hopelessly enslaved, than those who falsely believe they are free.”

All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order.” — David Rockefeller (Daddy Rockefeller, once the most hated man in America. Amazing what owning the media can do isn’t it? Rockefeller bought Encyclopedia Britannica in 1900 to rewrite history in favor of the haves, another words, outright lies)

“What you do speaks so loud I cannot hear what you say.”— Abraham Lincoln

“The ruling class has the schools and press under its thumb. This enables it to sway the emotions of the masses.”— Albert Einstein

I just pray that the cult can’t get Americans to shoot and arrest brother against brother, sister against sister because they empower one with a patch on the shoulder and some ego soup.

China made statements in the past about never havimg to fire a shot in order to conquer the US. Why? Because they will own us. O. wants to sell them more of our debt, but they are reluctant at this time–just their way of saying ” we are not ready just yet”. But the day will come unless someone stops this out-of- control congmess and the worst prez to come down the pike. They continually lie about healthcare and then call us liars and want us to provide our neighbors and friends’ e-mail address to the white house–even China doesn’t do this anymore. BTW, I was listening to a foreign radio station last week telling about Pravda–the Russian newsmedia–having an article laughing at the US for this Healthcare “non-socialized” single payer system. They were allegedly saying that it did not work there so we were going to do it here.
It won’t be long before America is not a super power any longer. I am 74 years old and have lived thru many disasters in my life, but never have I been as frightened as I am now.

Lisa, your point was well made. But it may be our own soldiers that will be asked to come for us. I read about an ad in an Army site asking for soldiers who were familiar with internment activities. Look up some military sites and you can see for yourself.

You said it best:GOD HELP THE UNITED STATES!

    • Lisa Wells

Yes, Marsha, I agree. I know about the Army National Guard’s ads on their site and others (monster.com). I am also aware that they will not do it alone.
      You are right.
I am a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, stateside, and to see and experience what is happening is sickening.
But people need to do more then just talk. We CAN make a difference. We need to realize that those who are angry and speaking out need not allow Obama’s cronies to dehumanize and demonize them into silence and despair.
We are free, still. Why hasn’t the military taken them out????? I realize also that end-time prophecy, the illuminati, and the road to the One World Order are coming to a head.
But our Country was founded on the freedom of the people. The FREEDOM of the PEOPLE.
All of us can whine, and TALK, but WE HAVE TO STAND UP and PUT OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTHS ARE. These legal fees are real.
Military members and antiabortionists, believers of man/woman marriage, believers of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, lovers of government by the PEOPLE, us who have been branded by the “Department of Homeland Security” and others as being antiAmerican, shrug it off and STAND. GET UP!
Educate who you can, and DO what only YOU CAN DO. Leave the rest up to God and pray for our enemies, because when they fall–they are going to fall hard. Pray for our “leaders”. FAITH IS AN ACTION WORD!!!! BELIEVE and DO!!

      • Joe H.

        Lisa,
Thank you and ALL the other vets her for your service. Let’s not forget that we still have brothers and sisters in arms over there and around the world in harms way. Send packages through your nearest USO or any of the sites on the internet. A short(or long) prayer for them would be nice also. God Bless America and her Patriots!!!!

The collapse is upon us. It will get worse, and no one will stop it. I wish a united people could stand together and right all the wrongs, and take this country back. But it is too late. This war is a spiritual conflict, and this country is being judged by God almighty.
    Prepare for what lies ahead!
Provisions, GUNS! (you will be forced to protect yourself and your families). Get your money somewhere safe (it is going to disappear when the banks collapse).
This is the last days folks! Be sober. Be vigilant. Look above…our redemption draweth nigh!

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE HEARD ALSO.
      IN GOD WE MUST TRUST

  • Jon

The forces are building for a major confrontation, one which I fear the U. S. may not be up to par in dealing with. Our financial market has never been closer to edge of collapse, China is flexing economic muscles it didn’t have before – buying up our debt to blackmail us in the future, no doubt!
We have those in control of our government who are NO friends to the military or even the majority of the citizens of the U. S. and will do absolutely nothing to improve our situation in the future, and no near relief in sight. They have already placed us into massive debt, with the bailouts of the financial industry and a large chunk of the automotive industry, and now for all intents and purposes, run GM and Chrysler and their affiliated dealerships.
The House passed a massive energy control bill – Cap & Trade – in the name of “Global Warming Control” that will do absolutely nothing to develop our own energy sources, will dramatically increase everyone’s costs for all sources of energy, including those increases in costs we will face in our consumer goods as those costs are passed on by the transportation and distribution industries. The ones to feel it the worst will be the consumer and the farmer/rancher. And we will still be in need of oil from such places as Venezuela and the Middle East. Fortunately that piece of legislation is stalled in the Senate and faces death by committee.
Now the Obama administration is attempting to take over 1/7th of our national economy in the Health Care industry, and with the provisions of this bill, within 10-15 years a bureaucrat will be in control of determining what treatments you will receive and how long you will live before becoming obsolete. It’s IN the bill, yet even our elected “representatives” continue to deny it and try to stifle all criticism and debate of the issue in their so-called “home town” meetings.
I know from previous mailings that I am preaching to the choir here, but this adminstration must wake up all Americans to the dangers that our country faces here, or it will end up to be too late. The next election must be the turning point for all Conservatives, Libertarians and Independents to get these fools out of our lives!

We told them that if they tried to pass this piece of legislation we would remember come election day and they would be out of a job. Well we stopped it!! We can do it with this problem also!!!

Most American’s believe that this country was founder and prospered because of God’s blessings. There is enough evidence thoughtout American history that supports devine influence. The Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights were inspired documents that could not have been written and proven effective for over 200 years without Americans believing “in God We Trust” and God listening. In the past 20 years Satan has become more and more powerful through the secular media and American’s need to satisfy individual desires. We became a nation adrift much like Europe after WWII. In past years Americans have elected their leaders who support this secular ideology, a me centered people, and these men and women have developed a political machine with the primary purpose to control the hearts and minds of those who are weak and dependent upon big Government. Here we are today with a President and a Congress that have only one goal in mind that is to insure their party has the power to exercise complete control of American society without regard to the majority of Americans who still believe that in God and say they are Christians. Now the Chinese and other nations basically own America. We exist because God has not given up on us yet, but, like ancient Israel, God is loves us, but he has a limit to his love for a nation that refuses to listen. He expects his people, those that call themselves Christians, to take a stand for what is good and right and to defeat evil. Yes, the wolves are at the door and they are in Washington DC and in many state governments. God’s people must decide what they believe and if they live their life for Christ then they must speak out from every pulpit and in all public forums. Speak the truth and let America know that if we continue on this road to destruction, Obamacare is just one example, America will not recover as God will not bless it any longer. He is loving but he is also just. Stand up America and defeat the evil that has been set upon us before it is too late!

Bob, I agree with you too. As well as spiritual warfare goes, get a partner and agree in prayer–out loud– Jesus prayed out loud and His pattern is what we need to follow. We need to pray ‘In Jesus’ Name. We need to renounce sin. “If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14 KJV

And we need to act. We need to follow through.

Who here has written? Who here has DONE something? It isn’t hard. Congress.org gives you the info you need. World Net Daily helps you to email. The American Center For Law and Justice (ACLJ) does too. The Center for Moral Clarity helps. Christians United For Israel helps. All of these groups are speaking out.
We can use the telephone too: 1 (202) 225-5565 gets the House of Representatives.

I believe you’ve got the right “take” on the USA vs China oil situation..unfortunately. I believe T.Boone Pickens has the right plan as far as it goes. I’d add nuclear and geothermal to the mix. To me..I see a solar collector or a P.V. solar array on a house and I see a patriot.

    • Joe H.

      Tim,
do you realize how long it will take to bring T. Bone’s brainchild on line? Do you have any idea of how many peoples land will be confiscated to build it? I mean taken!! Some of that land has been in the same family for the whole time this country has been a country!!! How would you like it if someone came up to you and said “Tim were going to take your property under Eminent Domain and were going to give you what WE think it’s worth and there is nothing you can do about it!” how would you like that Tim? I’d fight just like about half of them are going to do and that will only add more time to bring it on line, say twenty years!!!

  • John Derrick

America stands in a similar situation as Brittan back in the 50′s; America stands is a very precarious position globally for the first time in over 100 years…all because of governmental incompetence (namely our elected officials). And if this weren’t enough, the current Administration has reportedly put Federally-owned Parks and land as collateral to China. Stack this atop of this ridiculous socialized healthcare proposition and the resulting instability and national debt will destroy this country as a world negotiator and soverign nation. The dollar will fall from its lustrous status behind the Yen, Pound, and even Peso… OUR VOICES MUST ELEVATE to correct the thwart current efforts to collapse our economy!

Regan upturned our economy by actually shrinking government; yet the current Administration believes that by passing the “Healthcare Reform” bill (which will take-in FIVE-TIMES what Social Security currently takes-in) they can “improve” the lives of ALL Americans (plus the retired, unemployed, and illegal population)…at the mere taxation of those who contribute? Another Washington blind promise without substance !

I for one, think it time for Washington politicians to crawl out from their comfortable golden fleeces into reality, join ALL Americans and start participating in the same programs they themselves legislate and pass ! What’s good for the goose; ought to be good for the gander… I see many of the failed Washington programs as being DIRECTLY tied to the fact they (Washington politicians) are EXEMPT FROM EACH FAILED PROGRAM !!! They have NO incentive to correct what doesn’t affect them personally !! Our Representatives don’t go to V.A. Hospitals, don’t contribute to Social Security nor do they qualify for Medicare/Medicaid….instead, they have fully-funded tax-based retirement and healthcare in perpetuity. We all must ask, does anyone deserve such aristocratic treatment at taxpayer expense?

Barack Hussein Obama is the LEAST-KNOWN, elected President in the history of this country…should we not at least question each branch of our government for failing to do their due diligence? Regan elequently put appropriate words to the American people regarding the Soviets; “Trust but verify!” and we should heed these words carefully, especially when it comes to our own internal affairs.

Daniel Greenfield of the Canadian Press recently printed this, “The European Union Parliament’s swing to the right cannot be credited to Obama, though doubtlessly some European voters seeing socialist economic crisis management on display in the world’s richest country decided they wanted none of it, but it is part of a general turning against federalism. And Obama’s entire program is dependent on heavily entrenching federalism at the expense of individual and state’s rights. Yet that is precisely his Achilles heel with independent voters who are polling against more taxes and expanded government. And no amount of speeches by Obama can wish away his 18 czars or the national debt he has foisted on generation after generation of the American people. That leaves Obama with a choice between socialism and the independent voter. And thus far he has chosen socialism.”

In times of turmoil; it is the Constitution that is Americans beacon of light…practice your Right to Free Speech, with conviction!!!

    • elizabeth

yes obama is the most unknown president.why hasnt he been made to show his place of birth and all of his schooling??

    • Joe H.

      John,
As of a few years ago the politicians DO pay into social security as people raised such a stink about them being able to collect without paying into it!

  • John Derrick

    John Meyers wrote:
“Where is the oil (of tomorrow) going to come from?” asked future Vice President Dick Cheney in 1999. “The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world’s oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies.”

I beg to differ, the ultiimate prize will go to the nation who relies on the least amount of oil and becomes independent of foreign competition for oil. Inevitably the shrinking reserves of oil will in time go to the highest bidder and if America is not even in the bidding; we stand to strengthen our position socially and economically. So long as America (as a nation) will support our farmers, scientists, manufacturers, teachers, investors, etc. who provide the fundamental “needs” of foreign countries, we can stay in the game for the long haul. But as demonstrated more recently, exporting America’s core attributes undermines the very fiber of this or ANY nation…and isn’t this precisely what Washington has been doing lately?

America finds itself in the midst of a time when God, like citizens of this nation, are being ignored and hastily shuffled to the rear of the line of importance. Politics and minorities rank higher in importance than the majority. We as a nation did not become respected nor as successful (in recent past times) without a fundamentally important social/ethical order….#1 God, #2 Nation, #3 Family, #4 State, #5 Community and THEN # 6 Washington….so I’ll leave each of you to prioritize your order verses Washington’s order (my guess is Washington lists it exactly backwards).

    • John Myers

      Dear Mr. Derrick,
I would agree with you if the technology was there. I have spent a lifetime studying energy and frankly we are further from energy independence than in the late 1970s when Jimmy Carter was wearing sweaters in the White House. Our oil imports have doubled and there has been no breakthrough in solar or other alternative energies.

      Thanks for reading.

      Best,

      John Myers

Did you ever think we would see the day when the United States had to borrow money from China?

  • Alan

Just got on and love the civility. Most ablogs and forums seem to be over-run with teen somethings and their one-legged mind sets. All of you make good points toward religion, politics and the resource issues of this country. My post is a solution to our issues. You see, we can put a man on the moon. We have come very close to holding back a 30 yr killer, AIDES. We have done quite a bit in our 240 yrs and there is reason to worry but not panic. Here’s why…. at the end of the day, this country is still center right. Yes, a very charismatic man got the biggest job in our land as he promised hope again. His slick velvet tongue captivated even the centrist republicans as conservatives had little to offer. He has no real skill, never ran a state, never ran a business and from what I’ve read… never really been gainfully employed until his state senate job. You see…. he was a plant by liberalism Inc. ACCORN, ACLU, Athiests, Muslims, MArxists and terrorists funded his campaigne with ill gotten riches that you and I will never see. It’s called the underground. He’s got 3.5 yrs to go. Just keep doing what your doing and stand up, use your religion, freedom of speech and shout like hell. It feels good to be free so if you wish to remain free, stand up now and fight for your country. Get in faces- respectfully. Radical anti-american organizations must go. Freedom of religion is not the same as freedom of hate! Pack it up and your on the next ship to the middle east. I will not let our treasury give you free housing, food, Healthcare, while you degrade this nation with your liberal hateful views on how to bring us to our knees. We’ll even cover your one-way ticket. If you are caught trying to plot an attack, you will enjoy a public funeral. Now, how do we fix a problem that took 50 plus years to acquire? Simple. Once we get our country back, we elect only officials that have skill and a resume for getting the job done. We go to EVERY organization/corporation in US and we give them 12 months to bring their offshore corp/industry/entity back to US soil. We give them a tax break for doing so. For every job, their rate slides more. Sliding scale. We then go to Walmart, Target and Freds and mandate a 75% domestic origin retail goods law. This means those corps must buy only American made products making up 75% of their inventory. 25% can be from other countries. Follow me here: The countries that we allow to sell to our retailers must match a 1-to-1 ratio of trade equity. Simply put, we buy 100.00 worth of Chinese goods and they MUST by 100.00 from us. No Exceptions. This is not protectionism but fair-inism. Next: We drill imediiately in the Alaska reserve and off the coast of Florida while developing the hybrid and electric cars. We stop the CASH FOR CLUNKERS programs now!! What a mistake. Perfectly good used cars that could have been used by poor and less fortunate folks are now sitting with cement poured into their cylinders!! SIMPLY MAD!!!!!!! INSANE! Next, we level the playing field even better and add a 25% sur-tax on EVERY automotive company that is NOT headquartered in this land. Sorry guys, foreign countries have been pickin’ our fruit long enough. Time to make the game fair. Simple, you buy 1000 cars from us, we’ll buy 1000 from you. Simple. Next: Healthcare…. Ok, this is easy but nobody wants to tell the truth. First, eliminate state lines and allow competition. Next, toss out the pre-existing thing. Now, if you want healthcare and can afford it… you buy it. If you cannot afford it, we already have that covered. You get 18 months of free care then the party is over unless you are disabled, over 65 or have some other condition that prevents you from working. Us god loving Americans will protect those who cannot protect themselves but for those of us who drive $60k cars and spend $225 on a pair of shoes for a party…. game over. your payin your own tab. Sorry. We negotiate a very low cost for ALL meds in this land and put a cap on procedures. We set up a taxing system that is already in place that rewards us for better health. The better the health, the cheaper the cost for insurance. We have this now but it needs to be re-written. Government can assist in helping the private industry setting it up and even supply a partial subsidy for those who earn under 40k. No, I dont want the government handling the Healthcare but the government I have desribed in the last few paragraphs has the power and knowledge to get this done right. We expand tort reform. We close our borders and go back to what our forefathers wrote, “bring us your tired and wiery and those seeking a better life”. Dont bring us your problems. Borders close immediately. All illegals that occupy our prisons, ( non violent, drugs, B/E, prostitutions) will be bussed back to their respective countries and handed to their governments. Violent murders will remain here in jail as we dont need to spread murderers around the globe. Illegals here now that want to stay will be rounded up, documented and offered a job, ( if able and trustworthy) in our military and replace our war torn men & Women in the current theatre over seas. If an illegal wants to live in our free land, then they will have to sacrifice and fight for her for 4 years. Sorry, no exceptions. Prisons: We infiltrate prisons with information squads to break up MUSLIM extremism. Too many criminals are coming out of prison with new religions and hating the best system of freedom known to man. We must be pro-active. Are we going to step on some freedoms… Yes. Are we going to cross some previous blurred lines of freedoms…. Yes. Have crazy people gone out of their way to hurt this country and her Christian-Judeo beginnings by removing GOD from almost everything from prayer to our currency… Yes. People…. listen up, turn off your ipods, phones, TV’s, Facebooks and listen…. This country is sick. She is in need of major surgery. She needs a blood transfusion and may be in intensive care for a while but she will live. She will come out of this. She will be healthy again and at that time, all of you reading this will be inspired and remember that faith is your partner and our Lord, Jesus Christ is once again, showing his true power to lead us in our lives of richeousness.

Obama says he won’t raise taxes…. but what he will do will cause inflation, weakening the dollar…. which is really the same thing. God how I hate Obama and each and every stupid person who voted for him and the demons in Congress and the Senate… Pelosi, Reid, and his hench men and women socialist and czars. How could anyone not realize what a diaster he is going to inflict on the country. God save us.

  • JimmyG

I am former US Military 82 Airborn Korean War and am 77 yrs. old. I am very proud to see that so many young Americans are upset by and discussing what is happening to this country we so dearly love. Bloging and discussing the problems we face now is good but it is only a start. Actions always speak louder than words. ALL who can need to attend these meetings the Politicians are having-in person-and let them know face to face about our concerns and Promise them face to face that if they VOTE contrary to our wishes we will see to it that they are not Reelected. All we have to do -IS JUST DO IT.What ever it takes we Must do it or we will lose the Land we love and It will just become a big socialist nation just like Obamas teachers Saul Alinsky & Bernadine Dorn wanted. IT is really up to you folks and fellow citizens. GO TO WORK- God bless the USA. JimmyG.

    • s c

Thank you for your service to America, JimmyG. Americans should be far beyond angry. It boggles the mind to read and analyze feedback from people who dare to imply or say that free speech isn’t free speech (unless they control it). Obviously, most of them are ultralibs, but it’s easier to niche that retarded mentality by calling them prepurchased, useful idiot dictators.
Control is at the heart of their philosophy. If that’s not purely anti-American, I don’t know what it is. These people are in for the fight of their lives (and I don’t mean words) if they think they can use America for their ends.
This nation was created to cherish and protect FREEDOM. If those subhuman pond scummers want to confuse slavery with freedom, I won’t try to stop them from moving to a ‘more enlightened’ country. And they can take all of America’s traitorous career politicians with them. Good riddance to every damned one of them.

  • Blair

All the more reason to get with the Pickens Plan. T. Boone Pickens has a plan to use
compressed natural gas, and wind power, to replace foreign oil. Why should we subsidize al-Qaeda, Cuba, and Venezuela? We’re importing oil from countries that
like us? No, not really, get real people!

    • Joe H.

      blair
Short version of what I said above…IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST 20 YEARS TO BRING ON LINE!!!!

  • Cathy L.

    RFS:
You must be an agnostic. Non-believers always put forth the “Jesus was a man of peace” argument, not understanding that Jesus was also God!

You need to study up on the character of God. God is a God of justice. He does not tolerate sin indefinitely but gives us every opportunity to repent and turn to him. Consider the cities of Sodom and Gemorrah, and even Babylon, which God destroyed leaving the people to “sufer the vengeance of eternal fire.” Throughout the Bible, God punished the Jews time and again, because of their sin.

Yes, RFS, we DO need Christianity to tell us right from wrong. Without God’s guidelines on good and evil, our human nature would run rampant in its evil ways, led by our inherently sinful natures. Too bad the Muslim religion is based on Mohammed’s man-made tenets, (ie. seven virgins in heaven is a reward for killing infidels). Tjhe 10 commandments were given by God himself, not a man.

You state that you cannot worship a deity that condones brutality, inequality, self-righteousness, greed and hate. God DOES NOT CONDONE THESE THINGS. THEY ARE SINS! These evils exist because of our free-will that God gave us to exercise. It is with our free will that we commit these sins, and it is with our free will that we decide to turn to God, leaving sin behind. If God had not given us free will,
living for him would have made us robots and God wants our hearts and minds submitted to him voluntarily.

You know, Obama’s attempt to give the same thing to everyone, re-distributing wealth only serves to take individual incentive away. The pilgrims found this out very early in their settlement of Jamestown. It started out that every one would contribute equally to the settlement, and all share equally in the harvest. It was a collectivism colony. But Miles Standish soon found out that those who worked the hardest didn’t like the fact that others were sharing in the harvest who didn’t work as hard, and so they stopped working. Soon the colony began to starve because personal incentive was taken away. Finally, Standish instituted the system we have today, that those who worked, got to keep what they produced. And the colony survived. Even the Bible stays in II Thessalonians 3:6-12, “if any do not work, neither shall they eat.”

I don’t have a problem with those who are unable to work because of physical or mental limitations, we are called to care for them. It’s those who abuse the system and expect government hand-outs that I’m against.

    • Joe H.

      Cathy L.,
I don’t think he read what Jesus did to the gamblers in the temple either. He wasn’t real peaceful with them!!!

  • Keith H

I don’t think this system works for everybody, because this capitalistic system was created out of cheap labor. In order for this system to maintain itself it needs low wage poor people to work to maintain high profits for companies. If they don’t get it here, they will take their company over seas to China or India to get it. When the Elites create a system, they create it so they have so much money and power, they can oppress hard working people, I know they’re people that are working and in homeless shelters because they can’t afford an apartment. You see it in South Africa and other places too. I would not blame the oppressed I would blame the oppresser.
When it comes to oil , I agree with John Myers to a point, there will be a change in the way we live in the future with rising demand for oil of China and India, We can’t maintain our way of life without oil, so when we use 25% of the worlds oil and have 2% of the oil reserves that will affect foreign policy. Green energy will help but it won’t stop the need. I would recomend a Documentary called A Crude Awakening…?

  • Normal Guy

The hardliners on this thread are an extreme fringe of US society – gun advocating, constitution misconstruing, fundamental religious, right wing or libertarian extremists that have a view of the world that is anchored in a reactionary and myopic view of this country and the world.

You are generally a harmless and kind of funny in your ignorance as the extreme fringe is rarely in a position to impact the vast majority. Your ignorance and hate is clearly now being fuelled by the media scum who cater to the simplistic stupidity that is advocated on this site. You seem to think that the majority is with you, they are not, you hear nothing but Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter (I don’t care if I have misspelled any names). You are an extreme minority, maybe 4%, your views are beyond ignorant.

I am extremely concerned that one of the Timothy McVeigh’s out there is going to commit some heinous act. I hope that the extremists are forced to crawl back into their hyper-patriotic hate filled fantasy holes and rot.

The USA is the greatest country in the world, the system we have had for the last century has put us here – the future, though different, is bright. As long as we don’t let the home grown terrorists who are so evident on this site – spew there poison and commit crimes that will damage this great nation.

This is a democracy whether idiots like it or not, the US does not need a bunch of brown shirts (this is a reference to Hitler’s thugs) running around trying to intimidate the rational citizens of this country. Treason is not patriotic, you people should back off. If you don’t I hope that you are exposed for what you are and put where you belong before something awful happens.

    • s c

Normal, never assume that all conservatives rely on Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh or any other info source familiar to you. Your diatribe is extremely patronizing. It is just as transparent as the boobs in the White House.
If you’re in the sympathy business, you’re in the wrong place. You sound a lot like some predictable kooks who visit this web site. They’re off-the-chart, and your approach is cut from the same flawed cloth.
Most of the people on this web site are outraged at being expected to endure a government gone mad. Can you see through the emperor’s new clothes? Are you a suck-up for anal retentives who must control everyone? Come back and try it again after you’ve learned the difference between lightning and a lightning bug, ‘friend.’

      • Normal Guy

You and the other extremists are a tiny minority with almost unbelievably ignorant views. My comment is not patronizing, it is vilifying. The self sustaining, self reinforcing hate that you all feed on is dangerous. This is how extreme movements start and fuel there growth, this severe viewpoint needs to be cut out of the dialogue like a growing cancer.

You will note that I did not say that your only source was Limbaugh etc, I said that these are the people that you hear and that are fuelling this extreme overreaction. They are pandering to a narrow view. This is dangerous and you should all settle down and stop with the treasonous crap and do what the vast majority of rational people do, get involved in the system if you want to institute change. That’s how the system is designed to work this republic is not a banana republic, it is America and it deserves to be respected not attacked by ill informed fundamentalists. Terrorism is not the solution.

        • Cathy L.

Conservatives are not a tiny minority as you say. We make up 49% of this country. Nor are we dangerous or extreme. And yes, we are
getting involved in trying to change the proposed system that Obama is pushing down our throats, but we are being marginalized and demonized by the opposition because that is their methodology to discredit conservatives. It isn’t working. Your name calling of conservatives is
the same tactic that community organizers use right out of their handbook – isolate the opposition so they appear looney. Sorry but it’s the conservatives who are God-fearing, moral, hard-working, charitable, freedom-loving people who are this country’s keel.

          • John C. Davidson

And the other 51% are beginning to swell our ranks once they come to their senses.

I’ve been searching for a liberated woman all my life and I am 71. Where have you been hiding?

        • Rod James

Nominal Guy, You my friend are one of the “sheeple” that believe the drivel the media spin out of the Whitehouse to get more sheeple to do their advertizing for a system that has failed the Ameican public. It has more than failed as it has brought the country to its knees. There is a difference in being a Global Leader and a Global Power. The US should extend its leadership through example not force.

      • Speak My Mind

        S C,

Your comments are solid and based on facts. Anyone who makes threats against people who voice their opinions is so extreme. SC, thank you for standing up for what is right and wrong and standing up to the threats against us. Your opinions matter to me and to millions of others. That’s why they are here using all types of tactics to intimidate and make threats to silence us. We are here to speak out against extremists who are destroying our homeland and our constitution.

“Evil will thrive when good men are silenced or allowed to do nothing.” That’s when we are moving closer to socialism and our rights will be gradually diminished. We have been moving toward socialism for years, and now we are moving that way even FASTER. We need to speak out and focus on the results of government policy.

I love the debaites here. But what have the American people been doing for the past 30+ years? We have went into debt with Japan, that should have taught us something! We saw the quality of the products they made. I am sick & have been sick for years of people saying American cars are no good! Have you seen any Toyota’s that are still running around that are 30+ years old or in museums? Everything that was ever invented or perfected came from this country! I am not a DemocRAT Iuse to be a Republician, but they are all thieves & traidors! The constution was set on fire a very long time ago! This is the VERY LAST GASP OF THIS ONCE GREAT NATION! WE THE PEOPLE CAN STILL CHANGE THIS! I am sick of this talk about the Arib oil! Look AMERICA! WE HAVE ENOUGH OIL HERE TO POWER US FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS AT LEAST! BUT THE THING WE HAVE THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS IS THAT WE ARE SITTING ON 200 TRILLION CUBIC YARDS OF NATURAL GAS! LOOK AT WHAT PICKENS IS SAYING! WE CAN PUT MILLIONS OF AMERICANS TO WORK TODAY! NOT ONLY PUMPING ALL OF THIS OUT OF THE GROUND, BUT THIS IS A VERY CLEAN FUEL! ANY CAR CAN BE CONVERTED TO RUN ON THIS IN A MATTER OF HOURS! THIS WOULD PUT THOUSANDS OF MECHANICS TO WORK, THEN WE REALLY START USING OUR BRAINS, WE SELL IT TO CHINA! We can show them how to use it. Instead of them making 1 coal plant a week they could be making natural gas plants! And powering there cars with it. Then Americans can soon even out this traid crazy traid with them. While we are doing that we can start making the goods that we use here in our country! It is a insain way of thinking that because Chinas people will work fo so much less that we have to import everything from them! WE MADE EVERYTHING HERE FIRST & IT WAS THE BEST QUALITY OF ANYTHING EVER MADE IN THIS WORLD! WE CAN STILL DO IT! IF WE THE PEOPLE WOULD JUST STAND UP TO THIS TRANICAL GOVERNMENT OF OURS & NOT ONLY THROW THE BUMBS OUT, BUT PROSICUTE THEM FOR THE TRAIDORS THAT THEY ARE! Then we could lower the taxes & put everybody back to work!
The problems in this country could be solved in a matter of months if We The People would just do what is right and use Commen Sence! If you would like to write me at winbacktheusa@yahoo.com I can point you in the derection we must follow to get this country back on it’s feet! We still have the one thing that no other nation has never had, Freedom! And so many rights that out for fathers gave us! WE MUST DRAW THE LINE IN THE SAND NOW! TOMORROW WILL BE TOO LATE!

  • Hank

    To normal guy

I don’t know your age but I hope that you live another 50 years and hold on to a copy of your comments to see just how wrong you were.
Brittain was king until WWII, and since that time our country has
been king. Tue, we had many faults, but our virtues outweighed them.
As we attempt to solve problems we are rapidly losing the national
character that made us great. The 20th was our century but the 21st
will not be! The people you call idiots, in their frustration, see this,
    but you don’t!

    • Normal Guy

Well you are about fifty years off on the British Leadership thing. The US emerged as the dominate world power at the turn of the century. It really came down to the end of imperialism, the US was against it! Read a bit about Woodrow Wilson and his position on the US position regarding exercise of power.

The USA is the global leader today, so what, all we should want is a world where life continues to improve, peace and freedom is respected and people are allowed to live their lives un-harassed, if that happens and the world is lead by Luxemburg, who cares. It’s the idea and the bringing it into reality that matters. If the US ideals became the world’s ideals, great, if someone comes along with a better idea, great, lose the paranoia.

It’s not about watering the tree of liberty with patriot’s blood etc – the use of which today by reactionary traitors would have Thomas Jefferson turning in his grave.

      • John C. Davidson

When the Chinese collect on the debt, who will be the Gl;obal leader then?

      • Joe H.

        Abnormal guy,
I’ll bet you still have some of your flowers left over from the 60s don’t you? Rainbow glasses and all. This world will not let us live as you speak. So what if it’s lead by Luxembourg? Well what if it’s led by the radical Muslims? Are you ready for the time if your wife gets raped she gets stoned to death? Gee, I know, you’ll just sit and play your green tambourine, right?

  • Speak My Mind

Socialism is when the government CONTROLS its people’s minds, speech and silence talk-show hosts (Bill O’reilly, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck or Gretta Van Sustern who keep our government “honest and inline”.)

    Go Fag Yourself: http://marklevinfan.com/

Janet said: Pay attention to what they do, not what they say. “By their fruits you shall know them.” So far, their fruits are socialistic. Is that what we really want?

    • Normal Guy

Well ignorance raises its head once again.

First I am a full blown capitalist, I own my own companies and employ about thirty people and love my freedom. Travel lots and love life, but I do know that socialism is not about mind control it is an economic theory:

1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

So now you can refer to a definition rather than spouting ignorance. The vile idiots stirring sedition – Limbaugh etc – should go to jail with their mind controlled followers; you are apparently one of them. Be a good American, not a traitor following seditous idiots.

      • Joe H.

Was your companies that was around during WW2? you know the ones in Berlin?

      • Joe H.

“Well Ignorance raises its ugly head again”! Yup and its name is normal guy!!!!

  • Speak My Mind

    Normal Guy,

Everything said in theory has not worked in America, because average Americans are getting poorer.

Socialism is when companies have to go overseas to survive or to make cheap products so they can compete in their own markets. Open your eyes and free your mind America. You may not realize how much more you’re spending on many basic items.

    • Speak My Mind

      Normal Guy,

I don’t fit your Liberal definition. Let’s see Barack Obama went on his world tour, apologized to the world, but conservatives and I didn’t. And Conservative leaders did not accuse American soldiers of air raids on villages overseas, Obama did. I don’t own major network enterprises newspapers or magazines, they are the ones, are manipulating and brainwashing people.

As people have rejected “Brainwashing by the elite rich through use of lying mass media must never be allowed in America or our representative Republic elected.”

  • Cathy L.

Socialism is a system of taxing the have’s to give to the have-nots. The economist, Milt Friedman, said “Congress can raise taxes because it can persuade a sizable fraction of the populace that somebody else will pay.” You cannot make people thrive economically by bringing others down. You cannot provide “for all” by taking from “the few.” We cannot measure “right” and “wrong” by compromising and redistributing wealth. Each person must be accountable for their achievement or lack thereof, individually. Why is it ok to reward initiative and hard work by imposing taxes designed to redistribute wealth? “We have met the enemy and he is…” the liberals!

  • Normal Guy

So as I said I am very much a capitalist, but also a realist.
Over the next couple of decades we will so a substantial rise in the use of robotics. Just like the automated phone systems replaced human labor, innovations will be adopted by good capitalists like me to reduce costs and increase competitiveness. Adam Smith’s invisible hand – which was based on the notion that all value is created by the application of human labor – will remove a huge percentage of the labor force. So – no work for many who want it.

What is your solution? Should we just allow the bottom third of the population to sink into poverty?

Maybe and I say maybe we should recognize that there is a social good in making sure that stability and overall prosperity is maintained by distributing some of the wealth of society to those displaced by economic re-alignment?

It is interesting to look at the “productivity miracle” that the US has experienced over the last decade and to put it into perspective. More productivity means more products with less labor. Pure capitalism is certainly not going to be the economic model for success in the future. Lose the McCarthy era paranoia and look for solutions, the economic world is evolving.

    • Joe H.

This from a guy that probably made big money over the broken bodies of his workers and now wants to buy his way out of hell!!!!

  • Cathy L.

The key word here is re-train, re-train, re-train. Every state is receiving massive amounts of job-training funds. The bottom third of the population who truly want to work, (though many are content remaining unemployed, have never had a work ethic, and just want to receive government handouts but complain they’re not given a fair shake)need to return to school, rebuild or upgrade their skills to match the demand for talented workers in technical fields, the environment, energy, public infrastructure systems, and healthcare, and/or become entrepreneurs themselves with the help of community mentorship programs. There is plenty of financial help available through educational loans and retraining programs. Our economy is evolving into needing more and more sophisticated and highly skilled people and you have to be educated. We will always, however, need people to work in the service industry, but wages are typically low and for those unwilling or incapable of retraining in a field that pays a higher living wage, welfare still exists. But these people can’t and should not expect equal wages for unequal work ie. through a massive program of distribution of wealth. It’s simply not right, fair, or even God-ordained!

I will continue to pray for them to know the love I feel with my religious beliefs. The problem with deep love for all of Gods creation comes deep sarrow for those who can’t embrace it. Oil and off Shore investing for wealth . just who controles the water off of the states bordering the ocean .I know lousiana and texas will allow drilling off their coasts , but Flordia and California wont allow any ugly oil wells . I dont know why these states think they have anymore right to this land in the ocean than kansas could tell Oklahoma not to put up any more oil wells . I think all the States should have equal ocean rights just like all states have equal river rights . I know the big rich states pass strict enviremental laws and than export the polution to poor states that are just thankfull to get something at all .

    • Joe H.

      Eric,
Fla.s being scared to drill is downright stupid!!! If there was a spill in LA then the wind blew into the east, where do they think all that slick is going????

  • Bob Wire

Quote,” Oil and off Shore investing for wealth . just who controles the water off of the states bordering the ocean .I know lousiana and texas will allow drilling off their coasts , but Flordia and California wont allow any ugly oil wells”

bobwire, Hmm, having worked serving these “beautiful” platforms off shore as a Mariner~ there needs to be resources to claim below first and foremost. Florida shore drops off steeply and quickly on the Atlantic side plus the gulf stream is a formidable force to reckon with.

Quote;”I know the big rich states pass strict enviremental laws and than export the polution to poor states that are just thankfull to get something at all .”

bobwire; Louisiana being seen as a rich or poor state? Arizona is a poor state ~ full of wealth retired people and hungry natives. It’s true ! the pollution to the state is imported wealthy.

Quote;”Dick Cheney eh? He put the sword of Damocles over the heads of an entire nation using terrorism to plunder and then hiding behind it’s namesake curtain like the scared little perfidious and odious traitor he is.”

bobwire; Richard Chaney was just doing what Karl Rove told him to do, they all were. True~ Chaney is a big snake ~ but not the biggest.

Quote;”Both parties are working for the same mob. Nothing is ever accomplished. They point the finger at each other. The republicans sold us on WMD’s. The health care project is about making money on fee’s. Soc sec. Is dried up they need a new means of finance to flot the def.

bobwire; I can understand why you feel this way. If I just allowed myself, I could easily feel the same way. While it’s true, Obama’s administration is working with many of the same people 43 had installed or were elected to position, or hired by someone. So in a true sense you are correct but! Obama “must” work with many of them. That where the “sameness” ends.

Comprehensive Heath Care Reform is about money and heath care, you are correct again ~ I trust people are going to make some money and more people will be cared for. Someday, you or your love ones will find yourself on the taking end of it all, until that time enjoy your sour grapes while at least knowing your money didn’t go into a 2 million dollar missile to blow up building made of dirt and kill a few mail contented camel drivers in a country you’d never bother to visit.

Quote;”give-away, biggest mistake anyone ever made, I have owned 4 businesses in my life, when I got in financial trouble no one bailed me out.”

bobwire; So the government didn’t never hedge your bets Dav? ~ LOL ! mine either. Interesting notion , welfare for the wealthy ~ to big to fail !

Now why didn’t you or I think of that? The criminal mind never ceases to surprise me with it’s audacity lack of conscience.

Quote;”To everyone, I am writting now because my computer was down for a while. Cival war frightens me. I believe it is inevitable. With the computer the age of knowledge is here but also the time of BIG BROTHER is watching us. I have heard talk for a while, lately from ex military people, that the time for a revolution is upon us.”

bobwire; well ex-military people are not you best source for the information that concerns you. ~ I can hear the fear in your words and it hurts me that so many have placed this fear there.

Many people are unhappy and using fear in an attempt to affect some kind of change.

Fear is being used as a tool, via radio, news papers, TV and of course you PC.

Know this, ~ these are reactionary forces and it’s nothing new. They have always been with us. They are just louder today ~ Live your days without the bondage of fear and do your best to make a difference in the lives of all the people that surround you.

THERE IS NO WAR WITHOUT RELIGION!!! READ YOUR HISTORY BOOKS AND THE BIBLE!!!

WHEN PEARL HARBOR WAS ATTACKED, THERE WAS MORE PATRIOTISM AND LESS PEACE MONGERS THAN TODAY!!! SEPTEMBER 11 2001 WAS A SURPRISE TO THOSE LIBERALS THAT THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN THIS COUNTRY…AND SO WAS MCVEY IN OKLAHOMA, AND OTHERS THET I DON’T REMEMBER. AFTER THE (2001) ATTACK THE DEMOCRATS FIRST REACTION WAS…
MR. PRESIDENT WHAT ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS. I GUESS THE REPLY WAS…KICK SOME BUTT!!! CLINTON WOULD HAVE DONE WHAT???
THE MAIN PROBLEM, AS EXPRESSED BY SO MANY ABOVE, IS EXPLAINED BELOW:
    1. AMERICA IS THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY. EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL IN THIS WORLD WANTS TO LIVE HERE. THEY COME POOR AND SOME BECOME RICH…VERY RICH (TO INCLUDE THE ONES BORN HERE). SOME MAKE IT WITH THEIR IDEAS (BILL GATES), SOME MAKE BY DISHONESTY (MADOFF), BUT EVERYBODY HAS A CHANCE AT IT IN THIS COUNTRY.I COULD SITE MANY MORE, BUT THESE ARE ENOUGH.
    2. OUR PROBLEM IS OUR WAY OF LIFE, EXPRESSED BY THE LIKES OF HOLLYWOOD WITH THOSE MOVIES OF THE 60′S & 70′S. THE WIFES AT HOME, HUSBAND COMING HOME WITH THE LATEST MODEL CARS AND MARTINIS WAITING BY AT THE POOLSIDE. BEAUTIFUL!!! EVERYBODY WANTS TO KIVE LIKE THAT!!!
EVERY MOVIE THAT I SAW WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER MADE ME DREAM WITH AMERICA, BUT THE REALITY IS MUCH DIFFERENCE. YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD TO FULFILL YOUR DREAMS. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOUR COUNTRY WETHER YOU WHERE BORN HERE OR YOU CAME FROM ABROAD. HOWEVER WHEN ARRIVING ON THESE SHORES YOU HAVE COMMIT YOURSELF TO BE A TRUE BLUE AMERICAN. YOU CANNOT SWEAR ALLIGEANCE TO THE FLAG AND TURN AROUND AND WORSHIP SOME OTHER FLAG. REMEMBER, YOU SWORE ALLIGEANCE, THAN PLEASE ACCEPT THAT COMMITMENT. I HAVE TO SEE PEOPLE SHOWING THEIR FLAGS AND OTHER MEANS OF EXPOSING THEIR PATRIOTISM ON WINSHIELDS OT THEIR CARS. I ALSO HATE TO SEE THOSE THAT TURN THEIR BACK ON AMERICA WHEN THINGS GET THOUGH, AS MANY OF THOSE DEPARTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTRIES OF BIRTH BECAUSE LIFE IS “EASIER” OVER THERE.
    3. THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT IS THAT WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT OUR CARS, TV SETS, COMPUTERS, CELL PHONES, ETC ANY LONGER. WE BECAME A COUNTRY OF CHEAP FOREIGN MADE PRODUCTS, SHOWED TO US BY MEANS OF DUBIOUS PROPAGANDA AND MANUFACTURED WITHOUT ANY QUALITY OR GARANTEES. THAT IS CALLED PROFITEERING. THAT IS ALSO THE PROBLEM WITH OIL. WE FELL IN THE HANDS OF SOME PEOPLE THAT CAME UP WITH OPEC. THE US GOVERNMENT AT THAT TIME DID NOT DO NOTHING ABOUT, AND LET IT HAPPEN. SO TODAY WE ARE PAYING THE PRICE OF SOME LIBERAL POLITICIAN THAT PUT THE SCREWS TO US AND RECEIVED HANDSOME REWARDS FOR HIS EFFORTS. WHAT HAPPENED TO “GOVERMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE”. I GUESS IT DIED, AND WE FORGOT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.
    4. TODAY YOU ARE IN THE HANDS OF SOME LIBERAL COMMUNISTS AROUND THE WORLD, TRYING TO DESTROY US. HERE ARE THE EXAMPLES: COMMUNISTS HUGO CHAVEZ (VENEZUELA); EVO MORALES (BOLIVIA); CORREA (PERU); ANDRADE (ECUADOR); KIRSCHNER (ARGENTINA); LULA DA SILVA (BRAZIL), JUST TO MENTION A FEW. EVEN FIDEL CASTRO, AFTER 50 YEARS, STATED THAT COMMUNISM IS NOT GOOD FOR CUBA, BUT KEEPS ENTICING SOCIALISTIC IDEAS TO LATIN AMERICA. I CAN GO ON EXPOSING ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT WE ARE FACING IN THE US. THE ONLY ONES THAT ARE TO BLAME ARE THE LIBERALS WHO DON’T DO NOTHING TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY STRONGER, ALL THEY DID WAS TO SURRENDER OUR FREEDOM AND WAY OF LIFE TO FOREIGN INTERESTS, ENEMIES AND THEIR OWN POCKETS. WE, THE PEOPLE, GOT SCREWED IN THE PROCESS. OUR INDUSTRIES FOLDED, MY LEVI’S ARE CUT IN VIETNAM AND ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO. EVERYTHING IS CHINESE OR FOREIGN MADE. FORD, CHEVROLETS AND CHRYSLERS ARE MADE “OVER THERE” AND “ASSEMBLED OVER HERE”. WHAT HAPPENED TO “MADE IN THE USA”.
    5. I AM PAYING OVER 2 BUCK A GALLON FOR GAS, BECAUSE WE ARE DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN OIL. IF YOU CHECK THE RECORDS PRICE RISED AFTER THE LIBERALS MADE TREATIES WITH THE OIL PRODUCING COUNTRIES. WE CANNOT EXPLORE OUR OWN OIL RESERVES, BECAUSE OF SOME WINNING LIBERAL THINKS THAT IT WILL ENDANGER SOME TYPE OF AREA OR ANIMAL HABITAT. IF WE WOULD PRODUCE 3 CYLINDERS CARS, INSTEAD OF 4, 5, 6, 8, OR 10 PERHAPS WE WOULD BE GETTING AHEAD. INSTEAD WE NEED THOSE BIG GAS DRINKING, COMFORTABLE CHARIOTS.
WELL, I GUESS I STOP FOR HERE RIGHT NOW.

This is hilarious how most people here are blaming the current president when he inherited 2-3 wars and an economic collapse from the finance sector…sure he did decide to get involved in Libya too now which I feel is ridiculous but consider that the president is not the all powerful figure most in the commentary are making him. Consider the countless lobby groups in the oil and security firm sectors that really wanted those wars for their own profits and reports that the corporations could make back to their investors. Think of all the legislators that are getting money to decrease regulations in favor of X company or Y organization.

These security and oil companies are dictating our foreign policy and are using our military as a subsidized security force. Meanwhile we are doing nothing to develop alternative energy sources. It is no surprise we have a ‘terror’ issue because our policy prioritizes access to natural resources and corporate commerce rather than human rights and local control of their own governments (we have been supporting these tyrants of the region and people are fighting back)

So what if instead of fearing China and furthering our demise by flushing more dollars and lives down the toilet, and further pissing off the rest of the world in diplomatic scene, we actually take those same funds and invest in our society? Make it an attractive place, a highly educated workforce? What if we actually had these companies contribute to the effort? What if instead of oil and energy/utility co’s suppressing new innovations, we have the public funds go into the new innovations that the corporate private sector is failing? We could make companies work in regulations that make our country the cleanest and healthiest on earth, rather than compete with the dirty, filthier, and disease ridden states…but sure perhaps their goods would be cheaper. We had to find some sort of balance.

These multinational corporations do not care about the future of this country because as soon as this one goes down the crapper, they just take the profits they have made and move on to the next country. That’s the globalism game. So I do not see how a spending cap and cuts is going to fix…We require a shift in priorities. We should have O’Riley interview the oil and security executives and then he should tell those people to shut up! Tell them to get in the game or get the hell out of the way…

Had to throw this in there…Russia Today interview on how corporations are directing us to a rush to the bottom policy. Hits this China competition issue dead on the head and how corporations are leading us the wrong way.

Actually what is really needed in light of this video, is international labor and environmental standards. Corporations should not have another country that they can bargain down or bargain away standards for the interest of people. There should be some sort of binding international standards to limit the power of corporations. Just some food for thought…

i joined this site with high hopes of finding possible answers to what ail us all as americans at present: the economy, the war, our kids future etc. instead i find myself reading, and having to sort through a lot of scalding comments bordering into religious fanaticsm, racism, and down right ignorance. in a way this is a good thing, because i don’t know of any other place in the world where it’s ok to agree to disagree. it is also good because reading through all of these comments shows me in black and white, that as a nation composed of so many nationalities and ethnic groups, we are fragmented, divided, and not united as we want the rest of the world to believe. as a result of this internal division, we are easy pickings for the enemies of this great country.
people, when we say stupid things like the israelis are gods chosen and preach it all around, we are only saying that god has favoritism (a fault in any human being)towards them, that somehow the rest of us are chopped liver and do not count. i ask, if an israelite person kills another won’t gods law apply to them the same way as it will apply if the same thing was done by an american, or anybody else? won’t he/she be judged the same way as anyone else?
by saying god favors the israelities we are limiting his creative process and his infinite wisdom. we are limiting ourselves in our perception of god and his plans and intentions.
on another topic. when we blame barrack obama for everything we are going through in this country, it only shows our ignorance about previous presidents and their agendas. long before obama, the usa and its infracstructure, its riches, and our futures; were been sold to nations like saudi arabia, china, and others. an example, the terrorists of 9/11 were of saudi origins, and if i understand correctly they were also trained in SA. so how come we are not fighting the saudis? kicking butts for what came from over there, and what happened?
fortunately or not, and maybe because the fervor produced due to the wars in the middle east; at the time obama became president, the country as a whole was ready for a change. a change in our way of looking at the future, our acceptance of others; a change as to the way the rest of the world looked at us. we wanted unity and security, and obama was the elected representative to make this possible. only history will tell whether it was the right or wrong choice in the long run.
if we want s… to stop happening to us, we need to open our minds and hearts and take a more proactive attitude towards everything in our lives. with apathy, indifference, internal division, bigotry, racism, etc; we are not going to get too far. much less so by pointing fingers. never before have i felt the country more divided, more torn apart than now. if we are been herded towards communism like some may fear is because of apathy in our part by no voting, by lack of activism and disinterest in the democratic process. get your kids, grandkids, yourselves more involved. speak up and let your mind be known by writting and complaining to your reps in goverment. whether you believe or not this process works. i know this and can tell the difference as to whether it works or not because 31 years ago, i flew fidel castro’s dictatorship and came to the usa. i enlisted at 20 years old, and worked for DOI for ten years until i became disable.
when we feed each other hate, intolerance, bigotry etc; we provide those interested in dividing us, the tools and means to do so. i mean everything i have written to be conveyed with the most uttered respect possible.
