Mitt Romney Won, What About You?

Mitt Romney Won, What About You?
UPI

Scanning the fallout from Wednesday night’s “domestic issues” Presidential debate, a few things are incredibly clear: Most political pundits, conservative and liberal, agree that Mitt Romney made President Barack Obama look like a badly prepared college debate team contestant; Jim Lehrer, veteran journalist or not, did a poor job of steering the debate to meaningful topics; and for those voters who believe Obama and Romney are too much alike, nothing has changed.

The candidates spent the bulk of the 90-minute debate attempting to portray one another as bad for middle-class voters, with Romney calling Obama a purveyor of “trickle-down government” and Obama accusing the challenger of being an advocate only for the richest Americans. One of Romney’s key strengths throughout the event was his ability to focus with vigor on Obama failed policies and the incumbent’s Presidential record, which has yet to receive heavy doses of media scrutiny in the campaign.

In discussing deficit reduction, Romney pointed out one of the President’s most indefensible weaknesses: “You’ve had four years. You said you’d cut the deficit in half. It’s now four years later. We still have trillion-dollar deficits. You found $4 trillion to reduce or to get closer to a balanced budget, except we still show trillion-dollar deficits every year. That doesn’t get the job done.”

Obama subsequently doubled down on a claim that the $4 trillion in cuts proposed by his Administration are both relevant and paid for by a balanced plan of taxing only the most successful Americans.

In any case, most fact-checkers agree that $4 trillion in spending cuts is a lofty goal under the Obama plan, as ABC’s Jon Karl explains in a fact-check column calling the President’s claim “mostly fiction”:

Does President Obama have a plan to cut the deficit by $4 trillion?

No. The “$4 trillion plan” he is referring to includes about $1 trillion Congress has already agreed to and $1 trillion in savings from ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which are already ending.

This would be Mostly Fiction.

Romney’s deficit-reduction plan, however, is also not exactly expected to leave middle-class taxpayers unscathed. The candidate reiterated several times throughout the debate that he plans to tack on additional military spending if elected, which would be somewhere around $2 trillion in extra government spending while at the same time keeping Americans’ taxes from rising.

Romney offered no specifics throughout the debate regarding his yet-to-be-released tax plan, except to refute a claim made by Obama that it contained proposals for about $5 trillion in tax cuts.

“We ought to apply tax relief to people in the middle class, but I’m not going to reduce the share of taxes paid by high-income people,” Romney said. “I’m not looking to cut massive taxes.”

But Romney, despite his magnificent debate performance, offered voters little information on where specifically he plans to make cuts to government spending — except for when he mentioned that, although he likes Big Bird, he plans to cut government funding of public television.

Other cuts would be made by a formula Romney outlined: “First of all, I will eliminate all programs by this test, if they don’t pass it: Is the program so critical it’s worth borrowing money from China to pay for it? And if not, I’ll get rid of it. … No. 2, I’ll take programs that are currently good programs but I think could be run more efficiently at the state level and send them to the state. No. 3, I’ll make government more efficient and to cut back the number of employees, combine some agencies and departments.”

Debate moderator Lehrer, while unable to get the candidates to answer questions specifically or stay within their allotted time, went to great pains to highlight the idea that Romney and Obama are two very different candidates. And while superficially Obama and Romney played the parts of helping government all the way as opposed to emboldening the private sector, each spouted rhetoric that leaves little hope for smaller government regardless of the election’s outcome.

Obama applauded himself for spending the amount of time he did during the initial years of his Administration ramming his healthcare bill down America’s throat, and Romney assured fellow moderates that he would not do away with the entire plan.

Discussing Obamacare was not the only moment when Romney renounced some of the self-described “severely conservative” ideas he pretended to have throughout the Republican primary season. In fact, some pundits have suggested that Romney’s sudden burst of moderate vigor could have been partially to blame for the confusion that Obama seemed to exhibit throughout the debate. For instance, following an Obama narrative that too much regulation was never the problem leading up to the collapse on Wall Street, Romney all but agreed. In discussing Dodd-Frank, which he had harshly criticized in debates against other Republican candidates, Romney changed his tune on Wednesday to embrace the regulations but called for them to be made more clear by the government.

So, while liberal commentators’ (like MSNBC’s Chris Mathews) heads looked as if they were going to explode as they discussed Obama’s poor performance Wednesday night, and conservative outlets like Fox published jovial “the conservatives are winning” headlines on Thursday, many people still remain unconvinced that there is much difference between the two men.

Perhaps there is only one way to find out for sure: Is anyone ready to see Libertarian Gary Johnson debate alongside the two?

The “peas in a pod” approach to Romney/Obama has always been disingenuous, now it’s getting a little shopworn. The differences may not be as great as we might have wished, but they are there.

Of the two, only Romney offers anything of merit in getting people back to work. Read: XL pipeline and drilling permits, incentives to small business formation, turning away from alternative energy money pits, etc. Obama offers NOTHING good on these fronts.

There may be two or more vacancies on the Supreme Court in the next four years. With a 4-4-swing vote situation, does any sane person trust Obama to nominate other than the activist Sotomayor/Kegan type to fill the spots?

No. the state of the economy will not get a LOT better under Romney, and a financial collapse in 2013 may be unavoidable at this point no matter who is elected. But entrusting the stewardship of this nation to a socialist is a consummation devoutly to be spurned.

We at a minimum need someone who can revive some of the American spirit rather than making apology tours throughout the world.

Agreed. No more marxists in gubmint. “Progressives” must go NOW! What a joke this regime is, just political marxist hacks from chicago. I know, it’s my hometown. The ‘fraud n chief” never accomplished anything in his life before he was fabricated by the “crook county” democrapic machine. Anyone that votes for this clown is a fool. Do you even realize barry couldn’t beat booby rush in a congressional race so his handlers set him up to run for US senate against no one! Talk about composite girl friends? Little barry is just a composite politician of the cook county marxist party. It absolutely defies sane logic how in the world this boob ever attained the office of the president. Did you see him back on the campaign trail yesterday with his teleprompter? His “handlers” must now keep him on a short leash because just like bite-me, they can’t be trusted with their own thoughts. Why you ask? Because they don’t have any. Hopey Changey- what a cruel joke and all u clowns were duped.

      • eddie47d

Your clownish rant was worse than the pathetic and worthless debates. Neither candidate did a very good job of being honest to the American people and Romney just happen to be the better liar. You are also being duped in ignorance.

Here is the most interesting idea that has surfaced from this cesspool….2 trillion more dollars for the War Machine! And even better, the Pentagon has not asked for it! Rummey wants to build at least 3-5 more aircraft carriers whicih have costs of over 3 billion apiece. Now understand that we have 15 aircraft carriers (11 active, 3 being built, and 1 in reserve) now and the next largest number is….(drum roll)…2 (both Italy and Spain have 2)! China has 1 and was made from a Ukraninan hull they bought. Rummey, the almost brave, also wants 100,000 more participants for the War Machine (Wehrmacht) which means salaries, health care, weapons, uniforms, transportation, training, and for what? Could it be he wants his own war? Like in Iran? Could his buddy, Nasty-yahoo, be running Rummey’s foreign affairs in the Middle East? Who was the last Republican President that didn’t start a war somewhere? Answer: Gerald Ford (and he attacked Cambodia after they took the Mayaquez…but that was a 1 day mission).

Want to start paying off the debt? Then let’s not build military hardware the Generals do not need just to make a Chickenhawk feel tough about his wimpiness……..

Gary Johnson should be in these debates…But then we would have to be a real democracy instead of a 2 party fascist state…….

      • http://www.poorgrandchildren.com poorgrandchildren.com

Real democracy? Our government was formed as a republic. The differences are significant, and our degeneration toward a real democracy is the main reason our country is declining.

      • Lyndia

Has it ever occurred to you that by employing 100,000 more people in the military is actually a good way to give them a job with a paycheck????

I appreciate you calling this author out on his dissuasive comments, of compareing Romney to obama. This is jus tanother of liberals tactics to protect obama from his dismal failure. Mitt Romney stands far above obama’s loser policies. Mitt Romney wants to see this Nation succeed and prosper. obama wants to see America fall and his precious Kenya and other Muslim countries rise. Voters so blind they can’t see that, are hard to make excuses for. As for these Welfare voters Listen UP “stupid” . When the pot is empty your soup bowl will be empty TOO.

      Of the two, only Romney offers anything of merit in getting people back to work. Read: XL pipeline {Bad Idea for many reasons} and drilling permits,{Truth be known this is already happening faster thn the oil companies are drilling} incentives to small business formation,{This is already happening despite Romney saying it is not} turning away from alternative energy money pits, etc.{Very bad idea we need this now} Obama offers NOTHING good on these fronts. {just your opinion and you are wrong}
      There may be two or more vacancies on the Supreme Court in the next four years. With a 4-4-swing vote situation, does any sane person trust Obama to nominate other than the activist Sotomayor/Kegan type to fill the spots? {You do not like them so you call them activists but they are not, I suspect it stems from your lack of knowledge of the Constitution as well}

      No. the state of the economy will not get a LOT better under Romney, {Wrong, youe re a dreamer}and a financial collapse in 2013 may be unavoidable at this point no matter who is elected. {It is doubtful but a greater chance with Romney} But entrusting the stewardship of this nation to a socialist is a consummation devoutly to be spurned. {Another delusional statement from you}

LOL! This, unbelievably, coming from a “scholar” who maintains that slavery was illegal and unconstitutional prior to the 13th Amendment!

Ignorance can be fixed; stupidity is FOREVER.

        • Smilee

I see you are still misquoting me, you do that when you get slammed with the truth and again you did not respond to the points in my post. Pathetic as no intelligent discourse with you is possible because you always gooff on a tangent which only proves your ducking the truth

      • Vigilant

GREAT DAY IN THE MORNING! Smilee finally admits that slavery was Constitutional! For if I’m “misquoting” you when I say you “maintain[ed] that slavery was illegal and unconstitutional prior to the 13th Amendment,” then I’ll correct that “misquote” to say the opposite.

As Thomas More said to his son Will Roper, “let’s just hope that when your head stops spinning it will be faced to the front again.”

P.S. Anyone who wants confirmation of Smilee’s screwball interpretation of the Constitution need only go to http://personalliberty.com/2012/09/27/obamas-white-voter-gap/

Exhibit 1 (direct, verbatim quote from Smilee): “initially slavery was legal until after the civil war but no one questioned if it was constitutional but being legal does not make it constitutional…” (????) Hint: legailty is DEFINED by Constitutionality. You can take that to the bank, sonny.

Right, Smilee, even the abolitionists never challenged the constitutionality of slavery, did they? Why? Because it was clearly Constitutional.

Unfortunately though, as a friend of mine says, we’ve reached a point in this country when people who vote for a living outnumber the people who work for a living. Once the tipping point of that scale has been reached, there (usually) can be no turning back. I pray and pray that I’m wrong about this!

  • Corkey

He won. So what? They didn’t speak to the issues. Are we now electing presidents based upon who will destroy our country the slowest?

    • Shelia

Romney stood up there and lied , so bad, he was rude, disrespectful to the moderator, all the fact checkers proved he lied. How can someone vote for a man who only cares about 53% of the american people.

      • Richard

“he was rude, disrespectful to the moderator, all the fact checkers proved he lied”. I must have missed that part of the debate, and no one “proved” anything.

      • Vigilant

There were no fact-checkers. There were fact-spinners who had to come up with the “Romney lied” canard because Obama was too dim-witted to challenge Romney on his facts at the moment he faced him.

      • eddie47d

Although both candidates lied on the debt reduction issue Romney lied on Frank-Dodds,unemployment figures,Medicare, health care costs and those drilling figures on Federal lands. That last one is about 32% not the 50% he claimed.

      • Joe Hammond

Here are ten of Romney’s fact-challenged claims from the “debate”.:

        1. An ‘Unelected Board’ Controlling Your Health Care

Despite President Obama trying to push back on this lie, Romney made this claim a few times last night. Obamacare, according to Romney, “puts in place an unelected board that’s going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have.” In reality, as the Associated Press points out [3], the board that is tasked with bringing down Medicare costs is prohibited from “rationing care, shifting costs to retirees, restricting benefits or raising the Medicare eligibility age. So the board doesn’t have the power to dictate to doctors what treatments they can prescribe.” This Romney claim also hearkened back to Sarah Palin’s lie that Obamacare created “death panels,” which was a straight up lie.

        2. A Bipartisan Record

Romney referred to his alleged “bipartisan” record in Massachusetts as governor during the debate. But what’s the real story on this? ABC News calls [4] the claim “not quite factual.” Indeed: Romney’s health care plan was enacted with the help of a Democratic legislature. But in general, the body was “frustrated” with Romney “because he wanted to govern like a ‘CEO’ and ‘didn’t pay heed to the legislature and they resented that,’” according to the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation’s Michael Widmer.

        3. Dodd-Frank Labels Banks as ‘Too Big to Fail’

One contrast between the candidates that emerged during the debate was over Dodd-Frank, the weak Wall Street reforms and regulations passed after the 2008 financial collapse. Romney wants to repeal Dodd-Frank, and part of the reason why is his claim that the bill designates banks as “too big to fail” and therefore gives them “a blank check.” But as ThinkProgress notes, [5]this is far from the truth: “the law merely says that the biggest, systemically risky banks need to abide by more stringent regulations [6]. If those banks fail, they will be unwound by a new process in the Dodd-Frank law that protects taxpayers [7] from having to pony up for a bailout.”

        4. Obamacare Leads to Loss of Healthcare

Governor Romney claimed that the passage of the Affordable Care Act will lead to 20 million people losing health insurance. He based this claim on a Congressional Budget Office report. But according to PolitiFact, Romney “cherry picked” the CBO report and mislead viewers on why people would “lose” coverage.

PolitiFact’s final verdict on the claim is: “That number is cherry-picked, and he’s wrong to describe it as only including people who ‘like’ their coverage, since many of those 20 million will be leaving employer coverage voluntarily for better options. Romney also ignores that under the status quo, many more people today ‘lose’ coverage than even the highest, cherry-picked CBO estimate. We rate his statement False.”

        5. The Failure of the Obama Economy

Romney hammered Obama on the economy’s performance over the past four years. One claim Romney made was this: “[We have] 23 million people out of work…The proof of that is that 50 percent of college graduates this year can’t find work.”

But here’s the AP breakdown [3] of the facts on this claim: “The number of unemployed is 12.5 million, not 23 million. Romney was also counting 8 million people who are working part time but would like a full-time job and 2.6 million who have stopped looking for work, either because they are discouraged or because they are going back to school or for other reasons.”

And on the college graduate claim, Romney was also wrong. Back to the AP: “A Northeastern University analysis for The Associated Press found that a quarter of graduates were probably unemployed and another quarter were underemployed, which means working in jobs that didn’t make full use of their skills or experience.”

        6. Obamacare Cuts Billions From Medicare

This was one of Romney’s favorite attack lines last night: the notion that the Affordable Care Act is siphoning off funds from Medicare. The specific claim is that $716 billion was cut from Medicare because of the Affordable Care Act. In reality, this claim is highly misleading. What the number refers to is money that is saved “primarily through reducing over-payments to insurance companies [8] under Medicare Advantage, not payments to beneficiaries. Paul Ryan’s budget plan keeps those same cuts [9], but directs them toward tax cuts for the rich and deficit reduction,” ThinkProgress notes. [5]

        7. Gas Prices Increase

Romney said that “gasoline prices have doubled under the president. Electric rates are up.” This is true–but to blame it on the president is highly misleading. Gasoline prices have little to do with individual policies carried out by a president. Instead, as the Associated Press states, “Gasoline prices are set on financial exchanges around the world and are based on a host of factors, most importantly the price of crude oil used to make gasoline, the amount of finished gasoline ready to be shipped and the capacity of refiners to make enough to meet market demand.”

The AP also skewers Romney’s claim on electric rates going up: “Retail electricity prices have risen since Obama took office — barely. They’ve grown by an average of less than 1 percent per year, less than the rate of inflation and slower than the historical growth in electricity prices. The unexpectedly modest rise in electricity prices is because of the plummeting cost of natural gas, which is used to generate electricity.”
        8. Health Care Costs Rising Under Obama

Romney’s made this statement on the campaign trail–and if it was wrong then, it’s wrong now. Last night, Romney claimed that “health care costs have gone up by $2500 a family.”

But FactCheck.org was on this false claim back when Romney used it on the campaign trail in September. Their take: [10] “Romney says health insurance premiums have gone up $2,500 under Obama. The actual increase has been $1,700, most of which was absorbed by employers and only a small part of which is attributable to the health care law.”

        9. Oil and Gas Production Increases Only on Private Land

The former Massachusetts governor said last night that “all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land…Your Administration has cut the numbers of permit and licenses in half.”

But ABC News says [4] Romney is playing loose with the facts. Data from the Bureau of Land Management shows that “the number of drilling permits on federal lands approved during the fiscal years President Obama has been in office has decreased somewhere between 20 and 37 percent compared to the years before he became president – not the 50 percent Romney claimed.”

        10. No Tax Cuts for the Rich

To fend off the perception that he’s only concerned about the wealthy, Romney made sure to emphasize that his economic plan would not lower tax rates on rich people.

Think Progress has the details on that claim: “If Romney were to actually implement [11] his plan to reduce tax rates by 20 percent while eliminating tax deductions in order to pay for it, taxpayers with more than $200,000 would certainly see a tax cut. But everyone else — 95 percent of Americans —will see their taxes increase.”

Shelia, how old are you to be such an emotion driven TWIT?

      • Mer Mavarro

coz American democracy means convincing 50 + 1 of the voters and Romney becomes 45th President of Disunited States of Somewhere in North America and now known as the nation of no laws instead of as nation of laws as pronounced I think by Jefferson(?). So 53% of the voters is more than sufficient to win this election. Intiende?

You really should get your head out of the fantasy world and learn how to STUDY both sides before making crazy comments!! I study and research all candidates and don’t care what “party” they belong to. The problem that I have found is that Obama doesn’t seem to have a real past of any kind that is varifiable unless you simply don’t want to know and put your faith in someone who didn’t keep his promises to the people the first time around!!

      • eddie47d

You might just be the rude one Nadzieja for Fact Check did prove Romney wrong on several issues. Obama got scolded too so how old are you?

      • David R

        @ Joe Hammond
Your an idiot! Has it ever occurred to you that all your reading is another mans point of view? How about this; I will give you some facts based on HISTORY! But I will break it down to the absolute simplest form so you can understand exactly what I am saying.

        1. I own a business and I hate to say this but Obama did over regulate the banks! People who are trying to buy homes with a 730 credit score are being denied “even though they own the land.” There is no building taking place, and yet this employees 30% of the country… Hate to say this Joe but Obama F-up the system!
NOW HERE’S A STORY BASED ON FACT!
        I have a story for everyone…… You might like it…. ( ? )

There was a man who owned an island. On this island was one source of water, and he owned it!
For many years people would show up and buy water from this man, and they paid him five dollars per gallon of fresh water.
Later in the day; they would go into town and buy items with their water…
You see, the man’s water supply was the only item on this island that had any worth, and people needed his water in order to live, to buy food, clothing, and to pay their bills with his water!
Everyday thousands of people would show up and buy water from this elderly man!

One day this man decided that he wanted to name his island “Europe.” Many years later he decided that he would call his water the “Euro” and another island “called China” named their water the “yuan.”

Over the years, many citizens had saved their water for the day when they would retire… In fact, some of the people on the island had become wealthy, they had bought and sold water and they now owned a very large supply that was held in “one bank on the island!”
You see, there was only one bank called “The Central Bank of Europe.”

One day while this man was pouring water into five gallon containers three kids walk by carrying another container full of water?

The man walks down and asked the kids a question “where did you get this water ”one of the kids said “ a very large boat hit the reef in the middle of the night and has broken into two parts, we think it had water in it because you can pick it up on the beach right now.”

The man runs to the beach and sure enough, there was a boat broken into two parts!
So, he grabs his eye glasses; on the side of the boat it said “The U.S. Federal Reserve.”
The man starts wondering “how much water was on this boat; and what will they do with it?” The man turns around, walks home thinking “who would allow this boat to carry that much water and why did it hit the reef; and what will happen if the boat was completely full of fresh water?”

The next day there is a line of people wanting to buy water from this man. But, when he said “that will be $5.00 dollars” they said “we will not pay you $5.00 anymore; we can get water on the beach for $3.00 a gallon.”
        The man gets angry!
The man goes to the beach and what he sees next shocks him! Why everywhere he looked there was water on the beach…? The man walks farther and what he sees next shocked him even more!

The boat had broken into four parts and now floating in the water “was the entire content of that boat, sure enough, there was 12 Trillion bottles of water heading towards his island!
        This man gets ANGRY!
Why, In fact some people had set up stands and were now selling that water for $2.00 a gallon!

Everywhere on the island there was PANIC, because the wealthy had paid $5.00 per gallon for 30 years, and now their water was losing value…
In fact, they had lost 40% overnight and they all became worried!
Then he hears someone knocking at his door and he wonders who this could be.

Someone from the bank had showed up; and he told this man “your water is losing value at a rapid pace; you need to lower the value of your water to $2.00 a gallon, or demand the owner of that ship to remove it, and take it home!”
The elderly man stands there for a minute thinking “what should I do about this.”

The banker tells him “let’s do this, since your water costs you very little to pump it, then who cares what value we set on it, let’s lower the value of your water and compete with all the water coming ashore?”

The Elderly man thinks about this and says “you’re right, let’s lower the value of my water, I will now sell my water for $1.50 per gallon!”
But now he has a problem; and a big one at that!

On the West side of this island is where all the wealthy people lived and they were bankers, stockholders, and private business owners.
They decided to have a meeting, during this meeting is when one of them stood up and said “this is crazy, if it continues we will all become poor.”
So they form a committee and then they go to the elderly man and they say this “we demand that you call the owner of that ship and you tell him to either remove it or we will!”
What was happening to this island?
Well, the first problem was this “the owners of that boat had no right to pump as much water as they wanted “Federal Reserve” and by doing so; they had made it worthless, the second issue was this, by adding so much water into the system, it was causing the value of the entire planets currency to go down in worth.
The owners of that boat were broke, and they knew it, so they decided to print so much water that it would make their economy come back “or so they thought.”

What really was happening was this, they were printing so much water that eventually it would collapse and they would get out of paying on their debt! Afterwards they would create a new fresh water supply with a totally different value placed on it… They had no choice because they owed the world and their people 150 Trillion bottles of water and there was no way for them to pay this bill!”
“THAT IS THE TRUE DEBT OF THE NATION.” So wake the F up JOE!
SO, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
The elderly man grabs his phone and calls the U.S. and he said “you need to come and get your boat right now, you’re wrecking the value of our water; and why are you pumping so much water, come get your boat and leave, or we will go to WAR and I will blow that boat up!”

The next day a large Navy shows up and surrounds the boat, and then the elderly man’s phone rings……………..He stares at it………………………..DRAMA………
The elderly man answers the phone, then he hears a voice say “do not touch the boat; if you even try to remove that boat, we will destroy your water supply and your island, you will continue to do business as usual until we can safely get past our problem, and only then will we REMOVE THAT BOAT!”

What was happening on this island and the people who lived there?
Well, the US is printing so much money that it was wrecking the currency of the world and they knew it… However, the US cannot have its reserve currency status removed!

        So let’s continue with this!
The elderly man said “I don’t care anymore about you and your boat, you either remove it or we will!”
        A STAND OFF OCCURS…….
THEY STARE AT ONE ANOTHER WITH GUNS IN THEIR HANDS…
THE OWNERS OF THAT BOAT HAD CREATED A CURRENCY WAR WITH THAT ISLAND AND THE WORLD! THEY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CONTINUE PRINTING MONEY BECAUSE THE FEDERAL RESERVE WAS BUYING THE DEBT OF THE NATION BY PRINTING MONEY AND THEN USING IT TO BY HOME LOANS!

The elderly man has only two options left!
He then decides to do both, he orders his army to go down to the beach and pick up all the water floating ashore, he then orders the bank to no longer accept that water!
He tells everyone on the island “This water that says U.S. Federal Reserve is illegal to possess, anyone who has it; must bring it to the Dock!”

We will no longer accept it anymore on this island “until they remove that boat,” everyone must grab his water that says FEDERAL RESERVE on it, and you must take it to the Dock where we have a large ship waiting.

For three months that’s all they do, when done they take all the water back to the island called the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Just as they are about to dock the boat the elderly man blows it up. All of the water pours out and now the water starts floating towards the U.S. shores.
The people run down and start grabbing all the water they can!
The U.S. Federal Reserve has a massive problem “you see, they never thought that the island would not accept their currency anymore.”
The U.S. Federal Reserve has only one option left “they shut down all the Banks in the country and then the President goes on TV and says this “The old currency is no longer accepted at any of the banks in the country, we have a new currency that will soon be issued to all the banks in the country, the only transactions that will take place are with credit cards, this will take two weeks.”
In the end, the man restored his island back to normal, however the island called America had no choice but to collapse their currency, create a new one and then wipe out the wealth of the entire country!
Why? Because the country could not continue to pump as much water as it wanted and they needed the wealth of the nation to cover all its debt issues!
        YOU SEE JOE…
The Country was using its only source of water as a way to pay off its debt, in order to do this “they had to pump water and use it.” They created so much water on the island that in the end, it had no value at all! The world knew this and decided that they could no longer accept it…
So they banded together, created one single value for ALL THEIR WATER and then they bought and sold goods with it!
In the end it destroyed the other nation’s wealth!
The question is this? Is this possible, you bet it is, Germany did this in 1923 when it owed France a war debt.
France never received a DIME; in the end France tried the same thing by pumping massive amounts of water to stabilize their currency, this collapsed and the outcome was WW2… This is no story, this just has another name on it… Called “HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF!”
They more they print “the less your money is worth!”
one day someone will say “we will not accept that, but we will take your credit card, BTW your money has no value so if you want to stay the night in our tent, will cost you 2,800 of YOUR NEW CURRENCY…. Per night… THIS IS NOT A STORY, THIS IS A FACT THAT IS OCCURRING RIGHT NOW, SO YOU EITHER FIX IT AND SOON OR EXPECT A NIGHTMARE TO OCCUR JOE! Because it is coming… 30 yr HISTORIAN JOE… I studied the rise and fall of world governments for most of my life, I have over 3,000 books based on Rome, France, Germany, Russia, China, Japan and America… The only way to recover from this is to PUMP ALL THE OIL IN THE COUNTRY ALONG WITH THE NATURAL GAS, BUT A TAX ON IT AND PAY OFF THE DEBT!

        From Ameripac:

This is one of the few times President Obama actually looked Romney in the eyes. Mitt was piercing with his answers, looking directly at Obama while he presented facts and rebuttals. Conveniently every time Mitt was looking directly at Obama, Barack was taking notes; perhaps he was taking notes, maybe he was drawing, or maybe he was enjoying this free course on economics and scribbling down how to fix this economy he’s spent into the ground.

Bill Maher’s reaction, “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Obama DOES look like he needs his teleprompter. Obama made a lot of good points tonight. Unfortunately, most of them were for Romney.”

Chris Matthews’ reaction, “What was Romney doing tonight, he was winning, if he gets five more of these nights, forget it.”

Michael Moore’s reaction, “Is Bill Clinton coming in to sub for the next quarter? O! Wake up! Attack! That is not John McCain over on that podium!”

If these three guys were any further left they would fall of the face of the Earth and they are actually giving Mitt Romney some respect. Put in Sean Hannity’s words this debate was a “Rocky mountain beat down.”

Sorry you don’t understand how false the fact-checkers are; we don’t have a system to fact-check the fact checkers.

Have a look at this article to get a better perspective on that:

Fact Checkers always document the source of their information and often provide links to it and often there are a number of references this makes it easy for you to fact check the fact checkers. Had you done that your would have concluded they are true. Throwing out this silly statement of yours is of no help to anyone

      • Dan

Shelia “SHAME” on you the Fact checkers proved Obama to be the “LIAR” and that Romney had one wording inconcistancy on his health care plan, about previous condition coverage. Which is not Insurance but accepting liability for a present circumstance. Huge difference. Now as I said Shame on You for lieing for obama.

ALL the numbers are up man thy stock market is up the jobless rate is down from 12.5 to 8% and asof this moring 7% sure we still have work to do but a failure we are not, But if Romney get the house we will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Richard

I do not believe any objective person could watch that debate and arrive at the conclusion there is no difference between the candidates. I think Jim Lehrer was fair. That is more than I expected and the most important thing I could ask for. I pay no attention to the argument Romney offered no specifics on how he will accomplish his stated goals. How specific can one be in two minute bytes? In 2008 how general was “hope & change”.

    • Shelia

Romney could not explain his plans to improve the economy or how he will close the loopholes. Just vote for me he says. No way is he getting my vote.

      • Paul Wells

        Shelia,
You are a brain dead liberal. You wouldn’t vote for anyone that was honestly trying to get people back to work. Handouts aren’t strengthening anyone! Get a clue!

      • randall

Shelia, in 2min you do not have time to explain detail plans on how to turn economy around. all we do know is that Obama’s plan is not working, govt intervention will not do it. so give next guy a chance. of course the problem is that both are funded by same people (goldmen Sachs), so they win and the sock puppet show continues with people thinking if only their canidate wins, then things will change for the better. Corporations control our govt, they want to make money, any way they can, wars, making people sick, so they have solution to help people maintain health, etc. Change will only happen, when you do something, become self relient, grow you own food, get out of debt, learn what plants grow around you that are fee super foods (weeds). start eating mostly fresh whole foods, etc

      • GALT

You mean those foods grown in polluted soil, breathing polluted air and sucking up
polluted water? Hope you have a fully equipped lab for testing…….

      • http://n/a AmFer

Sheila, you missed the premise of an ‘on-going’ debate. Romney was correct to not give the in-depth details of his plan – a debate is not the place. While obama tried to goad him into it, Romney stood firm – a sign of an intelligent debater/leader. obama desparately wanted him to tell his plans…to ‘steal’ them, tweak them, and come out the next day, with o’s ‘new plan’. DID YOU NOT CATCH where obama said not once, but twice “…obamacare was based on YOUR (Romney) plan when you were Gov. of MA”.

      • Alex

        You are right, Sheila.

Mitt’s absence of substance kind of echoes the emptiness of his slumming mate, Paul Ayn Ryan, who carefully explained to Chris Wallace that it would be too hard to explain to Wallace or the rest of the nation what was REALLY in his tax plan…

      • eddie47d

Each issue went far over the allotted 2 minutes (15-20 minutes) so each candidate had plenty of time to be more specific about their message. Neither accomplished that and resorted to sound bites. AmFer,The Obama plan was based on the Romney plan so what is your real point?

      • http://speedle speedle

Alex, you couldn’t understand Romney’s tax plan if it hit you in the face. Neither the tax plan nor the healthcare reform plan lends itself to a 3 minute explanation in a moderated debate. That is the problem when complicated issues must be explained in 30 second sound bites to a population dominated by attention deficit disorder.

The only thing that can be related to the public in a debate like this is the ideology of the debaters. Pick a side dummy.

      • http://NotAvailable Philip A. Sandi

Well, I know sometimes we feel a little disturbed when we have downs in our lives. But if we look around we are better when we face challenges. Yes, you may not appreciate President Obama but be sincere this is not about race, class or personality. President Obama got to power with an enthusiasm to turn things around when the United States economy devastated by two wars, almost at the brink of collapse, a nation punctuated by unprecedented and unquantified job losses and a desperate demoralized middle class. He inherited that but did not complain yet desperately encourage Americans that we can make it. In desperation to revive the economy he painstakingly ensured the passage of bills in congress that the GOP conservatives saw as would be success stories and could do all to kill them. With decision that we must ensue Obama is a one term president, the GOP tried their break at the mid-term elections by pumping more energy and cash in changing the demography of congress. They succeeded because the electorates never review or made clear assessment as to what that was leading to. From that point even pieces of legislation that ought to have had a bi-partisan support to help everyone were thrown through the window. So the political messiah’s message became offensive in the ears of even his die hard supporters. It was there and then hope turned to fear, doubt and unbelief. And the souls that did that obviously fell prey to the devil the Bible says. Many even believed that Obama was a curse. His defense on how we got into this mess was greeted by you are bankrupt and have no idea how government works. What some became completely blind to were made to see by Bill Clinton who after making the case at the recent DNC convention said “No president, not even me or any before me could have performed the magic to turn this country around in just one term’. He justified that enormous progress was made and there is enormous prospects for the enhancement of that progress. His speech actually revived people and had it come two years ago all Americans could have believed the Obama doctrine of change on hope. But those who led America into all these problems and determined to ensure that you become servitude in the next few years are making you to believe that Obama did the wrong thing to introduce something that will make you survive in such an emergency situation until things get better. So they call it OBAMA CARE. But they could tell you to be responsible and reject the so called ‘socialist Obama care’ and accept their messiah that is clearly telling you, that, he will have tax cut for the wealthy so that the wealthy would in turn create jobs for you to have better life even while you are currently paying more taxes than them. That is an Ethiopia that you could never imagine if you are wise. So yes he won the debate if your passion is just emotionalism and not the search for truth in conformity with reality. Can we be like the Beria christians in the book of Acts of the Holy Bible, matching what you say with the truth? I leave you with these words: President Obama is not a saint neither a perfect man but he is sincere about his care for every race, class and personality in America. He was there before he is. He knows what suffering and destitution is all about. He understands what it means to be impoverish and destitute from the reality of his personal live experience. If you were born in poverty you can not look back to your poor parents for support to excel in life. Your only option for success is to take advantage of the redeeming facets of the OBAMA CARE to get to where Mitt and people of his class are. If you have to live on food stamp and get affordable student loans and get all the education you need, you and President Obama will share the hall of fame of success. We need empathy not Sympathy. No, not at all we cannot borrow money from our poor parents to get the education that we need to compete with children of the wealthy. We need a level playing field not to live at the mercy of only those who have. When we all have equal opportunities than the american dream is a reality. God richly bless you and the United States

      • eddie47d

Lyndia,Lyndia Lyndia ! Obama and his wife made about $470,000 per year in 1995. More than enough to pay off those college loans. Growing up poor doesn’t mean you have to remain poor. Even Romney claims he was poor or at least that is what Anne said. Ryan can’t claim that he was poor because his grandparents and parents were quite wealthy.

Let the 0′bomb explain where he intends to lead us in the next four years IN DETAIL and I do not mean following him around on the golf course while he ignores critical problems of state like killing embassadors covering up mob violence and permitting black on white crime/muggings/mobbings with no consequences.

I’ve really know idea about dis Tea Party. I know it’s kind of a ritual in England to sip tea in the afternoon so dey always have tea party attended by ladies. I’m organizing a Coffee Party in California, maybe start it up in StarBucks for dos coffee drinkers and lovers of coffee to sip 1st thing wen dey wake up. Of course, this is a joke. I think this Tea Party was organized to divide the Republican Party

  • Alex

If Mitt does as well in the remaining two debates as he did in the first—pummeling an ill-prepared President Obama—he may be able to squeak out a narrow ‘victory’ by taking
    the popular vote in November.

While fact-checking organizations of various political stripes pour over and put into proper perspective numerous items presented by both candidates — with most indicating some rather prodigious leaps of credibility by Romney—this should not harm Mitt that much. His supporters tend to vote by emotion and not reason.

For once, the more rational and forward-thinking amongst us may give thanks for the Electoral College…

    • eddie47d

The Electoral College worked for the Republicans in the race between Gore and Bush so maybe it will happen again.

I hope so, since they do not pay attenion to the Popular Vote. at all anymore.

    To Everyone here:
Look Ladies and Gentlemen, this election is already over. It’s like the WWE, where they let one opponent win a match to keep the rivalry going. That’s what this debate was like, that’s letting Romneystein win so the race doesn’t become a blowout but the outcome is already decided. Analyze today’s jobs report and you’ll see through escewed numbers, that it fixed for the President to get re-elected. I’m voting Libertarian-Gary Johnson now!!

Good For you Tony, That was also my impression. Let Romney “win” or make us believe he won, and give the next one to Obama to keep the show going. The next president has already been chosen.

      • TeaParty Patriot (TPP)

If the next president is already chosen then why is tony’s vote for Libertarian-Gary Johnson a good thing. I would think that voting for a change in the status quo would shake the anchors of those in office until enough people vote for alternate congressmen to keep the president from running rough shod over the peoples desires. Keeping the 0′bomb in office is only gonna hurt that objective.

      • http://liberty Tony

        To boatman99:
Right on!! We should get more people to do the samething. We may not win but it at least shows that the populace has alternatives if the two party dictatorship continues its ridiculous performances. Hey, with enough people the two parties might get the message to change or be forced out of office. TGIF!!

  • Dancer

To the intellectuals out there, think about this concept / idea:

Could it be that Obama was simply acting like he wasn’t interested in being there? Or acting when looking like a whipped puppy? Or acting when stumbling over words without his teleprompter?
Could it be that he was “sucking” Romney in for the next two debates? Letting Romney talk to get his ideas? Playing “possum” on the world stage?

I am a conservative first, and a Republican second. The liberal democrats will do and say ANYTHING to retain power in the government, especially the presidency. I personally think Obama “threw” the debate, took a dive, rolled over and played dead. Face it…the man is intelligent and certainly not as bad as he appeared in this debate.

I’ll wait to see all three presidential debates before declaring Romney “won”.

    • Paul Wells

      Dancer,
That *is* an interesting idea, and I had thought of that. I’ve read a bit about those who counsel debaters going into multiple part debates like this one, and the strategy (especially for an incumbent president) is to not be too aggressive or come off as haughty in the first debate. I thoroughly anticipate Obummer will come out fired up and a lot edgier in the next debate. If Jim Lerher is again the moderator, I feel sorry for him already, but that’s likely to be a bar room brawl, and I’m not sure any moderator could keep those two in check.

But make no mistake, O’dude is no bumbler, and he wants to win so bad that he will do or say anything to win. Mitt better be on his A+++ game on the 16th.

That said, I think the VEEP debate on the 11th will be a howl. Tune in for comic relief, as Paul Ryan slices, dices, peels and deals Uncle Joe Idiot a drubbing like we’ve never seen!

      • TeaParty Patriot (TPP)

        .
I think you are giving the affirmative action president too much credit. The 0′bomb has been fed the caca de toro that he is the smartest man ever to hold the office ( I wonder how that sits with Clintoon {the last smartest man in the world]) and that anyone else is far inferior to him. He got where he is with affirmative action, (he sure is not qualified to be president) and since he has never had to qualify for any position he has held in the past why should the racist prepare for a debate with an inferior like a mere caucasian.
        .

      • deerinwater

    • eddie47d

Will the Kenyan be bringing his teleprompter next time?
Because without it….he’s an idiot. :)

    • Ted Crawford

I too feel very uncomfortable with declaring that Obama was “caught unawares”! I’ve tried to decide between the thought that he has spent these last four years in a ” protective cacoon” by Michelle, Valerie Jarrett (Appearently absolutely no one gets to him without her approval), and the MSM!
While that does seem true, I still feel it’s more like a “Horseshoe Ambush” for the military amoungst us or Fischers “Queens Gambit” for the Chess players!

    • Lyndia

I actually think that Obama is too arrogant to play an idiot like he was the other night..he under estimated Romney’s experience and knowledge; plus he didn’t have his trusty teleprompter. Obama is NOT the intelligent individual that some people believe him to be and that is why he looks to the young inexperienced, the minorities and the spanish speaking people; these are the people who NEED to believe that Obama is the “Savior” and solve all of their problems. Obama did very little to help them in the 4 years he had, yet these gullible people hang on to believe that “NEXT” time he will!! Obama is just using them and had he sent those million plus people back to their own country, he would have saved all the expense of feeding, clothing, educating, medical, and other expenses that would have done those things for those people who believed in his promises 4 years ago.

He fooled all of you believers for the past 4 years and if you are foolish enough to vote for him again, you will deserve it when you get more of what you got in the last for years!!!

      • eddie47d

No one is fooled by your uppity criticisms Lyndia! That does put you squarely in the equally uppity Romney camp.

I wonder how many people even understand a President cannot spend money or raise or lower taxes. This can only be done by Congress, and ultimately by the House of Representatives.

This being said, Romney was very specific on his tax plans, despite having only 2 minutes to state it. He proposed targeting the many loopholes and deductions, and said he would let Congress develop the specific ones to target because there are many options to consider as viable solutions. Since the Congress is the body that actually legislates the spending and taxing, that’s exactly what should happen.

A good leader then takes the input and evaluates it. If none of it is meeting the goals, then a good leader gives more specific directions, but he doesn’t do like Obama and start writing laws with executive orders because is illegal.

    • Paul Wells

      Wayne,
You raise good points and you are correct that the President himself cannot do any of those things. However, this current president has shown no leadership to the Congress, and basically sits back and blames them too for everything. Have you noticed that nothing, nothing, NOTHING is ever Obama’s fault?

If you look back over Presidents past who have been successful in getting their agendas to have traction, they engage Congress, they work with them, they invite them to the White House (the committee members) to hash out differences, etc. Have you heard of Obummer doing any of these things?

No, you haven’t. Because he hasn’t done any of those things. He’s busy bowing to Muslim Kings, or playing golf, or…you get the picture.

Look, I’m saying this as an American. We hired Obama to do a job. And he hasn’t. All he’s done is said “Look, over here….I’m in favor of Gay Marriage” while people struggle and are out of work because he HASN’T done his job. When people don’t do their jobs, FIRE THEM! Simple as that.

      • eddie47d

Obama has shown plenty of leadership and has a high 40′s positive numbers. Congress is the problem and is the reason they have that very low 8% “approval” rating.

    • GALT

plenty of time to construct a detailed plan for a four year term……of course,

And there is his leadership skill working with the 80% Democratic legislature in

Republican Evangelicals must be torn—should they vote for Mitt, or for the Christian?

A Christian candiate is not so suprisingly conspicously absent from this year debacle. Do you really thing that was an accident?

    • steve

Your assumptions are not correct. A Christian was there, and so was a Muslim. Does that make any difference?

    • Lyndia

the Morman religion is a form of the Christian religion in that they believe in Jesus Christ. They however believe that Christ is the primary and God is somewhere in the background.from what I understand. They believe that God was once a man and I can’t argue that point since Jesus was once a man himself! Our country gives us the freedom of religion so to each his own as long as they don’t infringe on my rights they are welcome to worship whoever/whatever they choose.

      • http://yahoo wendell

The Mormons believe in what they call the Godhead which consists of: God, the father; Jesus Christ, God, the son and the Holy Ghost. All 3 are 3 different beings. And yes they do believe they were all mortals, just as you and I are now.

    • John

Alex, Sorry you don’t know your facts about Mormons and Christianity. Mormons, myself included, are Christians, despite the misinformed statements to the contrary by people like the Reverend Robert Jeffress. Obama, on the other hand, may be a Muslim – check him out on youtube:

Right! They are Christians that add a prophet that their church is founded on. Other Christian affiliations rebuke this addendum as pure poppy cock.

  • Nan

I am really tired of hearing how Obama and Romney are the “same guy”. This is simply not true. You need to stop being so cynical and accept the fact that this country is not going to elect an extreme right guy. This country is, much as I hate to accept it, is a center-right country, and Romney is more to the center-right than the Marxist/Socialist/Anti-colonialist Obama.

    • eddie47d

I see you are using that tired old line. Obama is somewhat of a socialist but hardly a marxist. Considering his buddying up with corporatist/capitalists I would say he is far more capitalistic. That is really strange of you to bring up anti-colonialist so does that mean you are in favor of Colonialism? Does that mean you are in favor of another country dominating you and taking your resources and leaving you with nothing? Colonialism is dead so why do you endorse it NAN?

      • Frank Kahn

Eddie, before you say something you need to know the subject matter you are speaking on. Capitalism is a very specific type of economy (which we dont have), and to say that Obama is a Capitalist is like saying Stalin was a humanitarian. Regulating business is anathema to capitalism so, if Obama was a Capitalist he would deregulate business not attempt to fix it with regulations.

      • eddie47d

You will never have a true Capitalistic society if the Republicans keep voting for crony Capitalists like Romney/Bush. More than half the commenter’s don’t support the Libertarian Party which is the closest to Capitalism. The American voter apparently doesn’t want what you desire.

      • Lyndia

If you were to research Hillary Rodham Clinton’s past and her writings while in College, you would also be looking at the same political philosophy that Obama is hiding in his locked away past. Both have the same “heroes” & beliefs they certainly aren’t anywhere close to “citizens rights”!! If Obama manages a second term, you will find him going for a permanent third while citizens will have no rights at all…don’t forget his fondness for “executive privilege”!!
The poor in this country love to hate the rich yet, it is the very wealthy who have given much towards those same people who condemn them. They are also the ones most determined to keep this country and all of it’s citizens free!!! It is the foreign wealth of those who have groomed Obama since youth who will take it all away!! Obama’s “fairytale” rise to the presidency from a “poor family” is in fact….a fairytale in itself!! He’s just a puppet!!
Take a good look at this president’s first debate a few weeks ago; did he at anytime during that fiasco show he had a clue as to what was going on around him?
These are just my “opinions” that I have gotten from my research papers dating back to the 60s so up to current days. My Grandfather is the one who started me on this and showed me how and where to find information on our “public servants” and actually anyone else of interest. He was a fanatic believer in knowing as much as possible about candidates on all sides before casting a vote! He was neither democrat or republican and neither am I. I vote for those who are willing to cross the aisle when they know that it is the right way to help our country; I vote for the person most capable of leading our country as president. I believe that Obama is without a doubt the worst president that we have ever had AND the most dangerous for our country as a whole if given a second term!!
By the way…I do agree that there is a very big difference between Romney & Obama!!

    • Ted Crawford

Welcome everybody, the Circus has hit Town! Obama could still make it as an actor – one does have to learn their lines after all. That is his secret ambition. Reagan did it the other way round and his theatrical training came in handy. Romney is a natural at the game of misleading rhetoric, so there they are, bird’s of a feather and more of the same old. Forward we all go to where? Who knows – let’s all just hope things change again as we all go forward TOGETHER! or not.

  • jopa

I was thinking perhaps Obama during the debate was just letting Romney ramble on with lie after lie just to build up a little ammo supply for his campaign.I don’t know how his base is taking all the spending Romney plans on doing when he hires all the teachers he wants and the trillions for defense, huge tax break for himself and his billionaire buddies and he is going to pay for all of this by firing Big Bird. The tax loopholes he is going to close for the middle class such as ,medical, home mortgages and charities will not even come close to paying for his budget. The guy is one piece of work if I ever saw one.He must have fallen off of his dancing horse a couple of times.

He has been a huge failure and worst of all he is a commie who will destroy our country. I would take my chances with Mitt then let this muslim president who said in 2007 that he was going fundamentally transform America, his beliefs are radical and left up to him he will change American to another third world country. This man is a totalirian, the most this man did was sign over 900 excutive orders and went on a tour to aplogize for America, he is a disgrace and he hates America. God forbid another 4 years.

      • eddie47d

What’s the matter Magdalia you want to vote for Mitt so you can continue to play Conan the Barbarian with those huge military increases under Romney. I strongly believes those who build up their military for war usually are asking for war. So God forbid those who do so and Romney would bless you with another dream war. This time with Iran. I hope and pray that Obama won’t be goaded into war and that all these foolish war games would cease. American credibility has been down graded because of those wars or is that too much for you to understand?

Sorry to rain on your parrade, but NONE of those two mofos would make any difference. Both are the choice of Trilateral commision, Buildeberg Group, and European Black Nobility, who actually call the shots here in USA. And they are doing it since the Revolutionary War.
The only thing which could make a difference would be to promote and sustain a candidate of a party young enough to be not or very low infiltrated by those mofos. And considering how important US is on the brockerage of power around the World this days, ANY party or movement gaining more than 2% support from population, would be hacked by those in control…

The states have shown that for the most part they cannot be trusted with something so vital as Education—just look at Texass and the nonHistory they wish to teach. In fact, look at the—-SORRY—-stupidest states! They are nearly all in the South!

Had those backwards people ever properly addressed their educational deficiencies they would not need Federal oversight.

      Jopa,

It was Obumer who rattled on; in fact 4 minutes longer than Mitt and despite that he still lost. I think maybe he will be more prepared next time, but, so will Romney. Clint Eastwood’s assessment of the empty chair is what Romney faced that night and I for one do not see this man as capable of negotiating for my best interests anywhere. Hell if he were my lawyer I would fire him. As my president; an absolute embarrassment and not a chance.

    • Lyndia

Romney didn’t out and out lie as Obama did; he DID exaggerate his numbers to some extent. Do your research without the discolored glasses you seem to have and take away the “Party Brand”! Take a good look at the things that both men have in common and those things they disagree on before you make a decision on what path has the best chance of getting the country back to where it should be. You might start with their experience in balancing budgets! Look at government as a BIG BUSINESS (which it is) and find out who has had the experience and knowledge to take a business and turn it into a successful & prosperous venture with royalties for it’s people!!
Those of you who want to keep blaming the House of Representatives for not working with Obama really need to wise up and see that the good presidents have always worked with Congress to find workable solutions. I have followed Congress these past 4 years and I have yet to see Obama “reach across the aisle” and seek a workable solution to anything; instead he uses “Executive Privilege” and does what he wants like some spoiled little child who sneaks behind the parents back!!
Whether I like a man or not, when it comes to doing what’s best for my home, I would not hesitate to hire the man I don’t particularily like if I know that he is has the best chance of protecting and taking care of it!!

  • Peter 10-nov-1775

To all who say that Romney wasn’t thorough in explaining his tax plans-where were you when the halfrican’s own party under Pelosi said ‘we have to pass the bill to see what is in it’? That has to be the dumbest thing that I have ever heard and the media never called them on that. I f the republicans had done that, there would have been outrage (feigned or real).

    • eddie47d

Romney has already done that in saying you have to vote for him before he tells you what is really in any of his packages. So you could be getting more of the same or haven’t you figured out that both parties pull the same tricks. .

      • momo

So Romney is pulling a “Pelosi”, is that what you’re trying to say eddie47d?

      • Ted Crawford

What he said Eddie, was that he understands and intends to follow the provisions of the Constitution, specifically Article 1 Section 7, Clause 1, when dealing with the Budget and the over-all economy!

      • eddie47d

        Absolutely MOMO!

    • GALT

Since it was a “health care industry bill”, the republican’s did do that…..and
then used Ron Paul’s strategy ( submitting pork and then not voting for it )
to get it passed and be able to back away from it too………couple of
republican votes in safe districts, mission accomplished………

Willard made that clear…..citing the fact that insurance premiums
have already increased and only a piece of the bill has actually taken
effect………and the major health care insurance providers ( that would
be those competing in the mythical free market ) have already said that
even if for some strange reason the bill was repealed, they would keep
these provisions in place…….because the only thing this bill DID was
guarantee a certain profit percentage which was in the
range of what they were already getting……..and if they didn’t
get that percentage they were free to raise premiums accordingly
……..the PERFECT WORLD! ( for them……for YOU? not so much.)

Same with Dodd Frank…….it hasn’t taken effect and is being fought
tooth and nail by the “shadow banking lobbyists “………..but why quibble……

What is “interesting” is another bit of detail that seems to be “missing”…

another Willard theme……..those “job killing regulations”, although again,
and amazingly, they seem to have only emerged in the “last four years”……
which is kinda weird because the Congress hasn’t been doing much….
      but again, why quibble……?

Actual regulations can be found in the Congressional Federal Register,
because all “statutes” which require performance by various parties….
need to list those “requirements” so everyone knows what to do……and
this information is NOT in the statute……..for example 26 USC 3402 which
is the statute governing employer/employee with holding, and is many
pages long and very nasty sounding……..the “implimenting regulation”
for this statute……….can be found at 26 CFR 31. 3402 (p), it is one
page long, with four paragraphs…….and of course, since you are all
so observant with quick and inquisitive minds….you can clearly see that
not only is there a difference between USC and CFR , but the numbers
are also different……….This regulation carries the title: Voluntary With
Holding Agreements (aka w-4) and the first section reads: “An employer
and an employee MAY enter into an agreement to withhold ”
……..and goes on to say that if either party does not agree…no
      withholding can take place.

BTW this is THE LAW……..the REAL LAW, yet all these employers
and employee’s, plus the lawyers and accountants and the tea
partiers, libertarians, and assorted pundits seem to be “oblivious”
to this actual “job killing regulation”…..which would
give every “employee” an immediate raise, while cutting costs
to the employer by an even greater amount………talk about stimulus,
and it doesn’t require “permission”………no agreement, no with holding
of anything, no W-2 requirement and “no jurisdiction” available to
the IRS or any state authority.

At the same time, you had all this B.S. about the “health care mandate
penalty” which hasn’t taken place…….is it REAL?……..pretty easy
to check, now that you know where to look…….

Still, as you can see…….”job killing regulations” are quite easy to identify,
and olde Willard has had plenty of time to “identify them” specifically, so
there is no need to be vague……..

“To conquer, first DIVIDE!” ( and then HANG, separately )

Seriously…I try and read these blogs and am amazed by some of the responses – especially those of the liberals who regularly respond – and some of the hard conspiracy theorists that permeate these blogs. How about this summary of the debate from a real world perspective: which of the two presidential candidates looked Presidential the other night? If any of you says “Obama”, then you are either deceived or disingenuous. Which of these two candidates looked like a leader – one who may be able to work with both the Democrats in the House and Senate and the Republicans? Yes, you can argue that Romney was in a state where it was controlled by a Veto-proof legislature – and I do not agree with several of the laws that were enacted in Massachusetts while he was Governor – but it seems clear that his leadership skills and ability to work across lines is FAR superior to the current sitting President. Can anyone who is sane actually tell me that this President has done ANYTHING whatsoever to galvanize this nation or unite it in any way, shape or form? And don’t answer with the tired sound byte “he killed Bin Laden”! Tell me something that he did by himself in the last 4 years!

Those who spew that Romney does not have a detailed plan might want to ask the same thing of a President who has not had a plan in 4 years that has done anything to reduce taxes, reduce spending, unite the country in any way, improve our educational performance, increase our energy independence (or reduce our energy dependence), or improve our standing in the world today or with our relationships with our allies. And it really annoys me that the President and the liberals are constantly crying about how the Republicans block their plans and initiatives. For the love of God, the Democrats controlled the House and the Senate for 4 years (2006 – 2010) and the Executive Branch since 2008. Are you telling me that they couldn’t do whatever they wanted during that time? As Romney brilliantly pointed out, while President Obama glibly states his fervent support for Education and hiring hundreds of thousands of teachers, and his top priority being job creation, his ACTIONS show that he spent most of his time and energy at the expense of his own party by doggedly pushing and ramming ObamaCare through over a period of two years. It’s not what you say….it’s what you do! And Obama’s tired tirades over Exxon Mobile and oil businesses? Really? Romney finally dispelled some of that nonsense when he pointed out how Obama’s administration largely wasted $90B in subsidies and glad hand-outs to cronies in the “green” energy field (which of course panders to the liberal progressives who want to see us all with Wind mills in our back yards) which is about 50 years worth of income tax credits for the oil companies! Seriously. Hey, how about your own GE Jobs Czar, Mr President? Yes, the one who ships jobs and business segments overseas to China? Yes, the same company that pays no taxes while making billions? Oh yes, forgot about that.

Anyone that thinks ought to be considering what another 4 years of this President may mean for you? And not just your own self-preservation! How about the lives and the welfare of your children or your children’s children? And we haven’t even gotten into foreign affairs and the current state of the Middle East and Europe. The spin doctors on the left will tell you that Obama has done a stellar job with foreign policy. What does the real picture look like? For all the brilliant academics and statisticians who seem to frequent this site, it seems like many don’t have common sense. Discern the times that we are in!!!!

    • Joe Hammond

      Let’s do so……
1] We are involved in a war that we cannot win in Afghanistan being backed by an “Ally” that would kill us in a heartbeat (Pakistan) trying to prevent the Taliban from taking control of their country…again! This is just like Viet-nam in that as soon as we leave then the Taliban will assume power once more.
2] We are supporting a country blindly in the Middle East that has no oil nor mineral contents that we need. IN fact, we give this country over 3 billion a year in military hardware while they have been found to be stealing naval codes from the Pentagon. The result is little support from the oil producing countries which we need more than the support of our “friend”.
3] We have over 300 military bases outside the US while our southern border is a transportation zone for drugs. Those 300 bases pay out a lot of taxpayer monies into those countries and the soldiers spend a lot of their pay in those places. Why not bring most of them home, place them in bases close to the southern border so their pay moves into the US economy, and try to stop the drugs.
4] China manipulates its currency but we do nothing because we have so many factories over there producing crap for our hedonistic tastes.
5] Israel has between 300 and 400 nuclear weapons from the Dimona Nuclear Weapons plant in the Negev desert. If they want to attack Iran, let them. But do not waste US lives and treasure. If Israel is attacked, defend them. If Israel starts a war, wish them luck. They are about as much of a democracy as we are…which is little to none.
6] Open up to Cuba and quit kissing the butts of the South Florida Cuban mafia. It was the lack of consumer goods that deposed the USSR and it would do the same to Fidel if only we didn’t bend over to the Cuban runaways…..

And this is just a beginning……..

I don’t really know anyone who thinks that President Obama “won” the Denver debate. At least not as it is measured in so superficial a society as ours. Wednesday night, the Good Head of Hair atop the Empty Suit came away—again, superficially—the winner.

President Obama looked quite ill-at-ease and unprepared. Romney got the screen test he so badly wanted and definitely gets a call-back. His problem, however, continues to be himself. He has absolutely no charisma. To argue that, to use your term, would be disingenuous. Is there really anyone who sees anything humane behind Mitt’s eyes? That blankness, as has been so often pointed out by both the Left and Right, is just plain creepy! His like one of those Disney animatrons in the Hall of Presidents, waiting for the lights to dim so he begin his rote testimony of American Infectionalism comprised of the same old vacant platitudes on the reel-to-reel.

The President was Eastwood’s Empty Chair Wednesday night; Mitt was iconically Mitt on stage, and that is not good for his cause. He looked good—much better than the President—but he didn’t really say anything…..

      Phil, Right on Bro..

      • Phil

Well….we already have seen the Democratic machine’s response to the pummeling that the President took in the review of his failed economic policies and his failure to create jobs in this economy. The Dept of Labor posts the September Jobs report that now, miraculously shows that unemployment dropped to lowest level in (surprise!) the last 4 years! Amazing….down to 7.8%! Even Jack Welch thinks these numbers are cooked. And most any intelligent person that has more than 2 friends and associates knows that these numbers are a lie. But the MSM will now use this information and spend the next 2 weeks talking about the recovery that is “now underway” so that this President regains the momentum he has lost. Unbelievable. We should really begin to be concerned when government owns the media (aka China) and sways elections through the use of stats that are so terribly misleading.

Regarding Joe Hammond’s reply earlier….who says that everyone is not in agreement with any of your 5 points that you made? But it’s the Obama administration that said that we’d be out of the Middle East conflicts that we are still in 4 years ago. As for #3, the reason that we are not sending troops and closing bases to enforce the southern borders against the violence and illegals crossing the border…is because this President and his DHS and DoJ doesn’t WANT to do anything to enforce it! That’s why nothing is being done. More pandering. More disunity. More anti-Americanism on display.

    • Lyndia

      Phil,
You are right on with what you have said!! I don’t think that anything that we can say is going to open the closed-minded Obama fanatics who use some of the craziest things to try and convince people that Obama knows what he is doing as president. He hasn’t kept his promises over the last 4 years but he will “most certainly keep them this next term”!!??? We can’t afford to wait for Obama to “learn” his job from the ground up when he doesn’t have any real experience in finance, business, or any other area that a good president needs to turn this country around. He didn’t take the time to learn from his first term so what makes them think he’ll do it right this time??
I have to chuckle when I hear people say that Romney lies but seem to think that everything that Obama says is the God’s honest truth!! I don’t know of a single attorney I know that isn’t an accomplished liar/actor since they seem to be requirements that come with the job!! I wonder if maybe that’s the reason he no longer has a license to practice…he’s really a very bad liar and he won’t ever win an oscar for his acting job either since he can’t remember his lines without a prompter!!

You’re still competing with my kitchen sink sponge, Phil…And looks like you’re winning!…The title of “Low Activity Brain” – or make it short, and understandable to you – LAB…

He inherited that but did not complain yet desperately encouraged Americans that we can make it. They succeeded because the electorates never reviewed or made clear assessment as to what that was leading to. When we all have equal opportunities then the American dream is a reality. God richly bless you and the United States

    • Alex

The 2010 change in the “demography of congress” you cite has resulted in the lowest-rated House in History. If these pests can be swept out of the House as quickly as they intruded, and if we can hold onto the Senate, Hillary Clinton should have an acceptable legislature to work with when she takes the keys to the White House from President Obama in January of ’017…

    • Mario

Too bad obamacare cannot provide you with a BRAIN, Philip!…My kitchen sink sponge beats you 3 to one regarding intelligence. And it’s IQ is a big ZERO!!!….

  • Ann

Under the beginnings of Obamacare, hospitals are now banned from accepting Medicare patients back to the hospital within a month of release, or be slapped with huge fines. And If they do, they must give the patients “end of life” consultation. Sweet dear Obama has lied to us big time. Medicare Advantage also is being taken away. (Why is mainstream media ignoring this blatant stab-in-the-back for Sr’s? 1/3rd of Medicare stolen away for Obamacare! Yes, Romney destroyed Obama in the debate. But now Obama starts the real propaganda, since it’s obvious he can’t beat Romney for real. Manipulated employment numbers, a movie about the Bin Ladin killing 2 days before the election? Obama ranting and raving that the “real Romney” wasn’t at the debate? No, Obama’s INVENTED “Romney” wasn’t at the debate! If anyone stoops to voting for Obama, they should be ashamed

    • Nadzieja Batki

Only if the people who voted for O knew what shame was.

    • GALT

In less than five weeks your pain will be over……hopefully you are NOT suicidal,
and you will have a “lame duck” president…..who will not be troubled with having
      to do this again………

    • eddie47d

That was quit a science fiction story you told there Ann! Have YOU no shame!

      • JC

And you are able to refute Ann’s allegations…how?

    • eddie47d

1/3 of Medicare funds stolen? Oh Please ! Barf!! If there is a movie so what. Are you going to tell me 2016 can’t be challenged or anything else the Republicans come up with. There is no “must give consultation” under those circumstances! No manipulated employment numbers either since there are 3 sources from which those figures are determined. Now the Republicans can play games with those figures all they want and I’m sure they will. The “real Romney not at the debate”? Ann is more than squirrely for saying that. So she gets the double Barf Award! Happy now JC?

  • uvuvuv

it took obama 4 minutes to say 3 minutes worth because he doesn’t seem to be gifted as an extemporaneous speaker. it’s okay in a private conversation to stumble and search for words, just so your team isn’t in the red zone at the time. it takes a lot of nerve for obama to say that an imposter was standing in for romney when there’s all kinds of questions concerning just who this obama himself is. there are all these frank marshall davis rumors floating around, which i don’t buy myself because ann dunham at age 17 would never have even known him, but my observation is that his childhood photos don’t look remotely like who he is now. also in a high school or college era close-up photo of him wearing a fedora hat he doesn’t have that distinctive nose feature. he won’t release his scholastic records but there’s no skullduggery here, it’s just that he took all his courses pass/fail. this is the dodge used by lazy or indifferent students everywhere, so that isn’t suspicious, at all. however there hasn’t been any outpouring of recollections from his fellow students who at the time didn’t know that he (or someone) was going to be elected president someday. i would guess you can’t get into harvard with a pass/fail record but he probably got in under some affirmative action quota. like elizabeth warren, that sure sounds like a mohican name to me.

  • Alex

While the Right Wing looks upon Matt Taibbi as just another rat in the wiring, they would do well to AT LEAST check his look into just what it was that went on during Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Investments and later at Bain Capital.

My chief complaint against so many of the Personal Liberty Digest’s more ill-informed posters is just that—the sad fact that the majority are clearly and demonstrably ill-informed. The greatest evidence for that is the over-reliance on the memes which enter the fear-mongering GOP’s list of approved squawking points each time it is updated. You should trust me on this one, folks: as I have pointed out many times, the enlightened people on the Left tend to spend much more time with Fox News and the Drudge Report than the people on the Right spend time with MSNBC, LinkTV, or the Daily Kos. This explains, of course, the generally higher ranking for the Faux Noose tailpipe—it coughs its exhaust onto a rather captive audience. Intelligent people have both a greater
tendency AND a greater capacity to process multiple viewpoints. We READ what the other people are saying—NOT what someone else SAYS about what they are saying! That represents a huge and crucial difference.

The independent Pew Research Center, echoing earlier studies from think tanks deemed less objective, shows that the least informed TV political program viewers tune into Fox.
The most informed audience? You’re gonna hate me, of course—Rachel Maddow (please
try to understand that Ms Maddow makes FAR fewer errors than any of her Fox counterparts and quickly and thoroughly corrects them when they do occur. Explanations for the perceived lagging political acumen on the Right may be found in another study, both heralded and derided at the time, depending where you sat, suggested the Liberal brain to be more suitable for dealing with complex issues, while the brain of the Conservative was wired for fear and anger—I know most of you will blister at that but it sure seems to be borne out amongst us—just listen to yourselves!

So give the Taibbi investigation into Mitt and Bain a quick look-see—tell me what YOU think. It is pretty creepy. Taibbi has an agenda, to be sure—but so do Rush and all the Fox staffers. To not look into that, and to not occasionally tune your dial to Democracy Now! or Rachel Maddow only does a disservice to yourself by underlining the idea that you have a very narrow focus.

    • Phil

Alex…seriously,,,you need to go back to the hallowed retreat where I am guessing you spend all your time. Let me guess, you must be in Academia, perhaps at the Collegiate level? Certainly, no one as learned and intelligent as you are (the “scientific” tests proving that your liberal slant makes you more capable of processing complex tasks and information) would be found in a job amongst the conservative population that comprises a large percentage of the working population. Oh, and to your point, you spew a lot of venom and accusations at Fox and its reporting of issues, but it least the network appears to try and report the news as opposed to manufacturing it. And please, Rachel Maddow? No agenda there Alex? Are you kidding? MSNBC has no agenda? That’s why MSNBC is so highly rated and has such an incredible viewership Alex! No agenda for Taibbi either! Hmm…do the scientific tests also confirm the existence of a gay gene and prove that if you are liberal _and_ gay, you will have an even greater ability to grasp complex issues? If so, let me remain the simple conservative man that I am….

  • Erik

Dear Mr. Rolley, If you feel there is no difference between obama&romney then maybe you should vote for Obama, right? I mean there’s no difference, right?

  • david

    Obama was a sitting duck.

  • JeffH

All I can do is sit back, laugh and enjoy the circus show.

I’ve tuned into FOX, MSNBC and CURRENT TV just to watch the gloating and the excuses. The excuses are running 10 to one over the gloating. Don’t expect any miracles from Obama…he never was up to the task. Now Romney, there’s a real politician for you…he doesn’t need a teleprompter to tell him what to say, he’s got a memory for that. He forced O’man’s hand and faced him…Obama wilted like a man without a teleprompter…talk about scatter brained and pitifull.

Between the debate and yesterdays campaigning by Obama I’d hope that some of the Obamaphiles could see the “community organizer” in the community oeganizer in chief and realize that this guy, Obama, couldn’t lead a horse to water…but he’s real good at leading the sheep to slaughter and invoking what he’s learned from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.. All of you sheep know who you are.

Neither one of them could measure up to Ron Paul or Gary Johnson as constitutionalists first and as politicians second…and they know it…thus Paul’s absense from the ticket and Johnson’s absense from the debate.

    Humor me!

    • deerinwater

Okay? ~ I’ll humor you Jeffery

      1. “Corporations are people, my friend… of course they are. Everything corporations earn ultimately goes to the people. Where do you think it goes? Whose pockets? Whose pockets? People’s pockets. Human beings, my friend.”

Corporations accept no personal liability so if they are a person ~ they are lacking in personal responsibility as “people”. That must be nice Hmm?

      5. “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. … My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Sweeping assumption ~ people that work for government and government contractors are found as members of both parties. This clearly is a false statement to a target audience.

      9. “I should tell my story. I’m also unemployed.” —Mitt Romney, speaking in 2011 to unemployed people in Florida. Romney’s net worth is over $200 million.

I have been unemployed since 1978 as well ~ Like Mitt Romney, I don’t require people telling me what needs to be done to be self sustaining. But everyone is not and can not be the same or the system would not work. 4 & 5% unemployment is a good balance of supply and demand for labor. Today it’s at 8%.

“”Is $100,000 middle income?” -George Stephanopoulos
“No, middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 and less.” -Mitt Romney, ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Sept. 14, 2012″

So any economic relief directed at the middle class is left to trickle down to myself and 90 % of the people I know personally and my customers.

“”[My wife] drives a couple of Cadillacs.” –Mitt Romney, campaigning for president in Michigan (February 2012)”

Hmm? one for each day of the week or just whatever the elevator happens bring down?

“”I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much.” —Mitt Romney, who earned $374,000 in speaking fees in one year according to according to his personal financial disclosure (January 2012)”

      Chump change?

“”It’s not worth moving heaven and earth, spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.” —Mitt Romney, speaking in 2007 about killing Osama bin Laden

Even if he is responsible for killing 3227 innocent Americans?

Clear Jeffery , Mitt Romney has a serious disconnect with most Americans today.

  • Tim

Let’s give Obama credit where credit is due! He certainly did lower the taxes on the midddle class. How, you might ask, By causing unemployment to skyrocket. If you don’t earn wages, you don’t pay taxes on no income! Keep up the good work Obama!!!

    • http://NotAvailable Philip A. Sandi

L attest report say unemployment is lowered. Get the story. Romney says that doesn’t matter. If jobs don’t matter then take it out of your campaign messages

      • Nadzieja Batki

Numbers can be skewed. Unemployment numbers can be lowered if people give up looking for jobs.
As if by magic the economic indicators are improving right before the election. So we decide which two of the candidates gains more by whoppers that are told. It was inevitable that we have to choose between the two stinkpots but we have always done that.
Given this choice at least Romney knows how to run a business as opposed to the supposed academic who just talks.

        • Lyndia

You are absolutely right about the skewing and most people who can use COMMON SENSE will realize that the employment numbers will continue to go up until the election and then take a steep dive once a president is elected. employment/unemployment records can go either way someone wants to use them. Part time jobs are not any kind of steady employment; they are temp jobs meant to sway voters and the jobs will disappear as fast as they suddenly appeared.
Obama has gotten as far as he has through his many deceptions that his followers believe and pass on as true facts to others who are gullible enough to believe! Obama himself is nothing more than a puppet who follows the instructions that those who have groomed him through the years to act the part!!
Do you have any idea of how this “poor kid” came into enough money to even go to college when I’m quite sure he hadn’t yet met his wife and she said that he was so poor that he was wearing worn out shoes and driving an old car when she first went out with him?!?!?
There are so many questions left unanswered by this guy we have as president…so many “holes” in his stories…that he could easily clear up IF he didn’t have anything to hide and proved to the people that he IS who he claims to be!!!!

Unbelievable turn of events…In one month, the unemployment rate drops almost a half of a percent, falling below 8 percent for the first time in 3 1/2 years. Just 31 days before the election!

How will the “revised” numbers appear during the month, on a “non-news” day, when no one will hear it? That should be a good one.

Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric, caused a stir after the numbers were released, tweeting “Unbelievable jobs numbers…these Chicago guys will do anything…can’t debate so change numbers.”

        CNBC had questions as well:

Job growth remained tame in September, with the economy creating just 114,000 net new positions though the unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent, the first time it has been below 8 percent in 43 months. The report presented a slew of contradictory data points, with the total employment level soaring despite the low net number. The falling jobless rate had been a function as much of the continued shrinking in the labor force as it was an increase in new positions. On the air, CNBC seemed equally perplexed by the biggest one-time drop in the unemployment rate in 29 years!

They’re not at all alike. Romney believes in the Republic. Obama believes in giving our achievements to the 47 per centers of the World.

    • brazzos

Ed, you are in the wrong country. This country, America, was built on democratic priciples. Texas started out as a republic and then became a state of the union. The American revolution was fought to give all the citizens of these United States, the freedom to live our lives free of tyranny and the special interests of one person or class of people.

  • Ms.Young

Old (and blatantly racist) but still good:

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull. Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on the income

SOCIALISM: You have 2 cows, and you give one to your neighbour

COMMUNISM: You have 2 cows. The State takes both and gives you some milk

FASCISM: You have 2 cows. The State takes both and sells you some milk

NAZISM: You have 2 cows. The State takes both and shoots you

BUREAUCRATISM: You have 2 cows. The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, then throws the milk away

    FEUDALISM:
You have two cows. They don’t actually belong to you, you just look after them for the local aristocrat, who owns the village you live in. You don’t like him very much, but you’re not allowed to leave because your family is part of the aristocrat’s estate.

SURREALISM: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead

MACQUARIE VENTURE CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your
brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general
offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the
six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with
nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release. The public buys your bull.

THE ANDERSEN MODEL: You have two cows. You shred them.

A FRENCH CORPORATION: You have two cows. You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called ‘cowkimon’ and market it worldwide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows, but you don’t know where they are. You decide to have lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them
again and learn you have 2 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION: You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you. You charge the owners for storing them

A CHINESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity,
and arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You worship them.

A BRITISH CORPORATION: You have two cows. Both are mad.

AN ENGLISH CORPORATION: You have two cows, and used to have 1000. You complain because, no matter how well trained your cows are, they always lose to the Australians.

A WELSH CORPORATION: You have two cows. The one on the left is rather cute.

    A KIWI CORPORATION:
You have two cows. They’ve played bit-parts in eight hollywood blockbusters between them.

AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You crack open a couple of beers for them because they look thirsty.

IRAQI CORPORATION: Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them that you have none. No-one believes you, so they invade your country and bomb the s**t out of you. You still have no cows, and you’re scared to leave your front door in the morning, but at least now you are part of a Democracy.

I turned it on and saw that smirk on Romney’s face. It showed me the contempt he had for what was taking place, on that podium. As for his views, the guy is still looking to make the 1% rich and elite, of which he and most of the politicians in office are, the dominant class in America. His trickle down theory is just throwing us citizens and voters a bone of contention.

    • JC

So you’d prefer that we level everyone and everything out until we’re all equally miserable? Romney and Obama are not the answer…A return to self reliance, self responsibility, hard currency and Constitutional values IS the answer.
The bone of contention…is trying to “communize” a free and liberated Republic.

The simple fact that Gary Johnson was not allowed to be in the debate is proof positive that the entire system is a stinking morass of corruption. Whether you are Democrat or Republican, makes no difference. You have the country you have now through your own lack of integrity, concern and will. I don’t blame the scum who really run things – they are scum and can’t help themselves – I blame the appathetic, complacent, morons that have let your once beautiful Republic go down the tubes. I blame the American people…

  • Regina

If you believe that Romney can relate to the average person today then I am afraid for you, because he has never new what it is like to go to bed hungrey, he has never known what it is like to not be able to pay a bill, and his wife she has never had to work because they have it all. And that is why he will never be a good President, because he is all for himself not for you me or anyone else. He just wants to be able to say that he was President.

    • http://none Claire

      Regina:

“Going to bed hungry.” No shoes until school started. Clothes made from flour sacks, including the underwear. Growing and canning everything we ate. Canned goods all over the house, under the beds, etc. Hanging clothes outside during the winter. They were like boards when we brought them in and draped them all over the house to finally dry. No toys unless we could afford to buy a couple boxes of Crackerjacks which included a little plastic toy. Raising chickens, pigs and a few cows. I would cry my heart out when they were slaughtered for us to eat. And I would not eat them. My precious Mother using a scrubboard to wash clothes. She never complained, she found “good” in everything. Going to a country church, and being baptized in the Illinois River. We were called “Drowning Baptists.” No electricity, no running water and I was not much bigger than the bucket of water I had to fetch. An outhouse, no phone. We got electricity when I started high school, a TV when I was a sophomore, and finally (much to my delight) a phone. Ahhh, memories.

    • Lyndia

And….JFK and Jackie did?? We have had well to do presidents from both sides of the aisle who were good presidents and our country has prospered during their terms of office. Obama, despite his claims also has had a good upbringing by those who have groomed him over the years to get him into the White House…he certainly has never wanted for anything including college at the best universities. When are you people going to wake up to the fact that Obama’s fairytales are just that…fairytales!!

NO I do no want Gary Johnson jumping into a debate now. It is down to the wire. Every vote cast for someone other than Romney is a vote for BHO. Bad bad. Romney is our only chance to take back the white house from the dems/communists/Marxists who call themselves liberals. We must also take the senate and keep the house majority for the Republicans. It might not be what a lot of Americans wanted but in sticking together we have a better chance. Yep, I’m just one of those right-wing terrorist nut jobs who clings to my faith my God & my country.
The good USA. The one that my daddy, his daddy before him, and 8/9 generations have fought and bled for all the way back to the Revolution the War of Independence from England. Also, my ancestors also fought in war of 1812, Mexican War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. Have had 2 husbands who were both veterans. So all I got to say to you whiny girlie-men is if you don’t like it here in America, please leave on next plane out for Iran, North Korea, or anywhere you would like it more. GOOD RIDDANCE. By the way, had a bunch of grandfathers who fought in the Civil War for the South. 😁

Interesting that you would employ the collective to support your argument against the collective.

Are you an Eastern Star ? You should be from what you are telling us.

To anyone who can’t see much difference between Romney and Obama, I suggest that they immediately contact their optometrist or ophthalmologist for an examination and prescription correction (or, you could do like me and get lasik). Obviously they aren’t seeing things very clearly.

I must have seen a different debate than some of you. But as an economist, that is my job.

The question from the debate was posed: “Romney won, how about you”?

Because of the debate, the economy, Benghazi, & the potential scandal of illegal “foreign campaign solicitations”, Romney is assured of winning in 3 weeks.

The answer to the question is, we’ll know if we won in about a year from now.

Win? or Lose? I could never understand how one wins a debate. Is there someone with cards from one to ten and after each discussion someone holds up a card? Biden being rude crude and unrefined by his choice of words and his interruptions I would give him a two. Taking charge and incontrol of the debate I would give the moderator a zero. Back to who’s in charge? I think the debates are a waste of time since the presenters are given more coaching on presentation than content. Maybe we should go back to radio and then listen to what they have to say. I think a black man once said something about the character of a person than the color of his skin. Radio would be a better medium.

The Black man was right….take away skin color and POLITICAL PARTIES….let the people of this country have to study for themselves without all of the political propaganda and false promises and scare tactics! Let each candidate clearly state how they believe they can help our country with specifics on HOW they would accomplish those specifics. I also think there should be a requirement that comes with the privilege of voting and that is: they must know !) the difference between communist, socialist, democratic, and other forms of governments, 2) the difference between the various religions and that it is the RIGHT of all Americans to worship their choice without threats & fear of harm,, 3) the basics of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States of America, If the people in this country actually learned what this country was based on, they would know that it is sick minds (jealous, greed, & fear) and not the color of skin or a religion itself that is the problem.
Some politicians (Democrats & Republicans alike) want to spread fear and lies among the citizens of this country while promising if we vote for them they can magically make everything great again!! The American people have put a complete stranger in charge of our country….very few people actually know anything about this person that we call “president” and he is using the people who are gullible and know little about him except he is “helping them” and they know less about voting with most of them being helped to check the “right” boxes by the “kind” Obama people!! He is trying to remove one of our foundations of this country (GOD) and piece by piece he is dismantling our constitution (our Bill of Rights included). If those two very important parts of our foundation are removed, how long to you think it will take to completely destroy this countryWhat will the people of this country look to for Unity…..will we all be bowing down to Obama within the next 4 years???
Think about it……..What does anyone really know about Obama except what he has allowed us to? Why is he doing his best to create trouble with religions, why is he lying about not knowing that our people were killed at the embassy…..and WHY has he given amnesty & the right to vote to illegal aliens just in time for elections, why does he cater to those who are most likelyNOT to know what is at stake in these elections except that Obama has promised to make things “better for them”,,,,what’s going to happen to the “temporaries” when the temporary “citizenship” goes away in two years and he doesn’t need them anymore??? I’m guessing that it will be just like all the promises he made his first 4 years that he forgot about!!
You certainly don’t need to believe what I am saying..all you have to do is vote Obama into office again and you’ll find out for yourselves although by then it will be too late for you to reconsider your dedication to the man!! Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs….these are just my mine!!
