Missing Girl, Father Found Dead

PLACERVILLE, Calif., Aug. 14 (UPI) — The search for a 2-year-old girl allegedly abducted by her father has ended with the discovery of their bodies, law enforcement officials in California said.

Investigators said the bodies of father Mourad “Moni” Samaan and of Madeline Samaan-Fay, reportedly abducted by her father a week ago, were discovered in a remote area in El Dorado County Saturday evening, the Sacramento (Calif) Bee reported Sunday.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department found Samaan’s vehicle, along with the two bodies, based on a tip received by the FBI.

The cause and time of death wasn’t immediately known.

Investigators said Samaan was notified the girl’s mother had been awarded full custody, ending a joint custody arrangement, the day before they went missing. They were last seen Sunday in Sacramento.

Authorities said Samaan didn’t return his daughter to her mother as scheduled. The mother reported Madeline missing Tuesday.
