Milk Fascists Take One On The Chin

A Sauk County, Wis., jury kicked the State’s dairy lobby and fascist agriculture agency in the chin last week when it acquitted dairy farmer Vernon Hershberger on three charges of producing milk without a license.

Hershberger has been persecuted for four years by the State, working at the behest of the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association, for the “crime” of selling his raw milk and other dairy products to his friends and neighbors who had bought a piece of his farm as part of a buying club. The ruling means he can continue to sell his products to members of the club.

He was found guilty on the lone count of breaking a holding order issued by the State in June 2010 that barred him from moving any of the food he produced without a license. The shame is the jury didn’t nullify that count against him as well. He faces as long as a year in jail and a $10,000 fine for the one guilty count.

“This is a huge win for food rights,” Liz Reitzig told The Wall Street Journal. Reitzig is a founder of Farm Food Freedom Coalition, a group advocating for greater consumer access to natural, unprocessed food. The case “should give small farmers renewed courage to continue to operate within their communities.”

According the Food and Drug Administration, raw milk can be sold for human consumption in only 30 States. Wisconsin isn’t one of them. And it is a crime in the United States to sell it across State lines. A statement from the Wisconsin Safe Milk Coalition’s mouthpiece made after the trial explains why it’s a crime. “We strongly urge lawmakers to keep it illegal to sell raw milk in Wisconsin to protect the state’s $27 billion dairy industry…,” Shawn Pfaff said.

The FDA, which approves drugs that sicken and kill thousands of people each day, claims raw milk is dangerous because it contains “harmful microorganisms.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claims that from 1993 to 2006 1,500 people in the United States became sick from drinking raw milk or eating cheese made from raw milk. Hmm. That’s a whopping 115 people per year. Meanwhile, FDA-approved drugs kill 274 people (according to the agency’s own statistics) every day.

Pasteurized milk is dead food. The pasteurization process converts a healthy food to a synthetic non-food substance under the pretense of purity, cleanliness and shelf life and changes it from a potent non-allergenic food (one that helps to build natural immunity to allergies) to one that is allergenic. The good bacteria in raw milk is killed and destroyed as is the all-important bone-forming enzyme alkaline phosphatase. The result is a substance sold as milk but that resembles cow’s milk only in color.

Hershberger’s lead attorney in the case, Glen Reynolds, said: “This is as close to Prohibition as anything I have ever seen, but this time it’s milk and an Amish farmer rather than liquor and gangsters.” The prohibition against raw milk should go the way of liquor prohibition.

Where I live you can sell raw milk as long as it is labled “not for human consumption” or “milk for pets”. Of course what “pets” you give it to is your business and no one else.

      Absolutely excellent idea!

Isn’t that how farmers used to live was sell things and in turn buy things to feed their cattle? With all the regulations it just seems wrong that you deny a skill set of people the means to make a living??

Government collusion with industry to control the food supply.

I have been drinking raw milk for close to two years and have experienced absolutely no medical problems with it. I had colon cancer and the raw milk puts back the good stuff my gut needs to maintain healthy and happy body functions. My ancestors did very well on raw milk and so do I. I am going to be 70 in October and I am glad to have the opportunity to drink the very best . I love those beautiful cows that my dairy lady has in her clean and monitored herd. She has a very clean and professional bottling operation for her milk and lots of customers. I wish the government would butt out and let people live their lives. Too many laws, rules, regulations and crooks.

I know both government parties stink, but we did have a chance to get rid of a blight in 2012 and the sheeple just put him back in for 4 more years!! Milk isn’t the only thing this government wants to take away!!

Want to bet every one of those jurors will be audited/harassed in some way?

    • Ron r

Yeah I’ll bet you. This is a great victory for all consumers. If the FDA would not allow the industry to use drugs to speed grow the cows there would be no need for thease foolish. My grandfather milked his cow every morning and we drank the milk, my grandmother made butter and buttermilk ,and there was no problem. The wonderful 60s.

Hmmm. A decent post. (What’s wrong? Are you ill?) I hope to see more posts from you like this one.

I milked morning and evening for seven years so my family could have REAL milk
(the cream, butter ,cheese and yogurt that we made with it was both healthy and delicious)….and the excess was fed to calves and piggies and chickens. I only wished I had someone who had organic milk I could buy off of the farm…sigh.

  • rbrooks

time to get rid of all of these foolish rules and regulations.

Why does a “$27 billion dairy industry” need protection?
Protection from what, a farmer selling a little bit of milk to friends?
And if the public wants to buy and drink raw milk, why can’t they?
I drank raw milk until I was 20 years old and it never hurt me. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
Our government has become the criminals!

I had ulcerative colitis and had to take pills every day for years to keep it in check. I read that there was a correlation between healthy intestines and raw milk. I found a small dairy willing to give me raw milk for my animals. After a few months I no longer needed the pills and a colonoscopy after 6 months of raw milk consumption showed no sign of the colitis.
Now my small dairy had to sell out because they couldn’t compete with the larger dairies that don’t want to be bothered with a small consumer.

Get a goat. They are sweet and wonderful animals. They give milk even healthier than cow milk. If you milk them like cows are milked….into a closed system like I do by hand with a hand milker, the milk tastes as good as raw cows milk, no goaty taste. I have one doe that is 18″ tall and she gives me a half gallon of milk per day and I bet it costs less to feed her than it would to buy that much milk per month and it is so sweet and creamy…..YUM!

      • Jake Thomas

We had goats growing up, hand milked and strained through mr Coffee coffee filters. Always had a cold piture in the fridge. So much better then the powdered milk we had to drink before we got the goats.

        • elda

I milk into a closed system because I have not got full use of my hands and because of the closed system the milk is clean. It doesn’t even get the odd taste you get if you milk into a pail. I can milk into the canning jars and then just bring it in and make it into yogurt. If it sits in the fridge for a couple days it tastes even sweeter and can be made into cheese. Great stuff !

    Dear People,

Just how strange is it that for well over 100,000 years; Humans have been drinking “RAW” milk with no harmful side effects?

But, I guess that the “US~DA” ~ the sub contractor to the US Inc who follow’s the {“United Nations Codex Alimentarius”} set forth under – “UCC Law” code thats by the way under ~ {“Admiralty Maritime Law”} that is in fact the LAW base “United States Inc” who employs these law forms as the “standard of base law” ~ since 1878.

One has to ask what ever happened to the Base LAW of what this nation was founded on, You all may recall ~ or not its a ” Constitutional Republic” based on ~~~~~ “COMMON LAW” ~~~~~~ Rule by the People for the People.

    What you socks knocked off?
Read the ~~ “UN Codex Alimentarius” ~~ sometime to find out whats claimed by these special people as being “Harmfulf” to humans.

Yet somehow they missed Death Camps, how odd is that I ask you? Let alone the effects of “UN Agenda 21.” ~~ Also knows as “Effective Population control for the 21st Century.” of what ~ By The Way is now well in the works in every state within the 50 states of America in every small town.

Peace and Love Shalom, Wake up sheepeee’s your about to be sheared.

The first Sec of Agriculture appointed by a facist democrat FDR, was a registered communist and beleived in USSR styled food production, in which centeral controlling agency decided when to plant, when to harvest, no matter if rain was coming down, as well as what to plant. You can not sell wheat or any grain unless you have a ID, your feild is IDed, all by some brainless paper pushing puke. Still think any democrat cares about freedom, only if it makes the government more controlling.

Remember When; you & your Siblings Got up every morning to get Dressed, Do chores, Mike the Cow(s) Have Breakfast & go to School, That was Life on an Active Farm.
these Days, Thanks in Part to the Government, times have Changed, Yesterdays youth no longer exist, in their Place is a New Generation of, Weak Minded & Bodied Kids, Growing up in a world of Pleasures,NO Hard Work Required!.
Whats more, Our FOOD is so Artificial, That most of us Could get a better meal, Eating DIRT & Drinking Sewer Water!
Look at that label on that so-called Health Bar, Full of CRAP that the F.D.A. Now calls Food!
Growing up in the 50’s, Whole Milk, Coming fresh from the COW, was the best!
It Made the best wheat-cakes ( Pancakes) in the Country, for breakfast, along with Eggs from our own chickens, Butter from the Store, ( We didn’t live in the stone-age) Along with our own BACON or Side port. Then we had Wheat toast & black Chicory Coffee. a Good, Filling, German Breakfast, Just before School.
We also had Sack Lunches, That by some miracle, Didn’t Spoil before Noon?
But in the Late 60’s & early 70’s The Government & other Communistic Agents from Washington D,C, Representing the U.S.F.D.A. shut Everything Down. Citing The Fake Dangers of Drinking or Eating Foods & Products made from Fresh Whole/Raw Milk.!
They even tried to tell us that we could be Fined for selling our Homemade cracked Wheat & Flowers, ( Wheat, Oats & Rye ) As it was not Checked by Government Agents.
Note, At the Time, Those So-Called Farm Agents, Where little more than Desk-Farmers, Why, Most of them have never even Worked on a Farm, Yet They where trying to tell us that they Knew more about Farming than We FARMERS!!
But That is all gone now. The GOVERNMENT KILLED our Creator GOD in our Land & Now those same Communist are out to Kill the Rest of us believers off, By Allowing Company’s like MONSANTO, to poison out Crops & Food. Stranger Still, OBAMA passed a LAW Protecting MONSANTO CORP> From LIBEL, if any of their G.M.O. Products are shown to cause Harm of Kill anyone, Eating their Products!
Cheer up, By the time Obama is done Changing America around, We’ll All be To weak to worry about it!

another example of why unions are bad these days and not a protection of the american people just themselves

I prefer organic raw milk and live in a commonwealth that allows raw milk to be sold for human consumption. For the producer this entails more transparency, as well as frequent and tedious health inspections – which I gladly accept. If not labeled organic, the cows and milk could easily contain extras: Bovine Growth Hormone and Estrogen hormones, various anti- mastitis anti-biotics, the pus from the mastitis that’s being “controlled,” and toxins that were fed to the cows in GMO grains and pesticides used to control flies that attack bovine waste.

This is no longer the 60s, 50’s, or 40s. Don’t count on safe raw milk unless you know the source.

  • Karolyn

Be thankful for every little victory.

  • Karolyn

We can buy raw milk in SC. The problem is that there are so few dairies. To get any I would have to drive 2 hours. No one around here has dairy cows – only beef cattle. I tried the goat mil in cans that is sold but didn’t like it.

It’s ridiculous to have to “protect” the dairy industry. They have it all sewed up.. Most of the population does not want raw milk anyway, but the people who want it should be able to get it.

These huge industries, like Monsanto, have it made. They can do no wrong. However, a farmer recently found gmo wheat on his farm (He discovered it when he was killing wheat with Roundup and it wouldn’t die.), and South Korea have restricted US wheat imports. Japan is a big consumer of our wheat. The EU is watching this closely, since they don’t want it either. Sooner or later Monsanto will be taken to task. The opposition is growing. There were huge protest on the 25th all over the world. There is another huge protest planned for October.

Jury Nullification is a right and a duty. One of three on which the Constitution stands.
    Trial by jury
