KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 2 (UPI) — Militants, armed with bombs and other weaponry, attacked a guesthouse in Afghanistan’s Kundoz province Tuesday, killing at least three guards, officials said.
A statement issued by the Interior Ministry said the first attacker set off a bomb in a vehicle near the building’s main gates, allowing other militants to enter the compound and detonate their explosives, CNN reported.
Officials said the militants and police exchanged gunfire for about two hours.
Nine civilians and one police officer were wounded in the attack, said Mohibullah Saidi, a spokesman for the Kundoz provincial governor.
The fate of the militants was not reported.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for attack, CNN reported.
