Men In Clown Makeup Rob Jewelry Store

DENVER, Aug. 26 (UPI) — Denver police said they are searching for two men who donned clown makeup and robbed a jewelry store, but only made off with fake jewels.

Mark Allen, owner of Sonny’s Rocks, said the two men were wearing bizarre clothing and clown face paint when they came into the store Wednesday morning and threatened employees and customers with guns, KDVR-TV, Denver, reported Friday.

“It’s surreal … they came in with clown makeup on,” Allen said. “They were, like, in costume.”

Allen said the robbers forced him to open the jewelry cases, which the men emptied into garbage bags. However, Allen said he no longer displays real jewelry in the cases.

“It’s not real,” Allen said of the robbers’ take. “It’s totally worthless.”
