CHICAGO, (UPI) — Police in Chicago said two Pennsylvania men were arrested on allegations of squeezing through metal security bars at Wrigley Field in an attempt to steal ivy.
Police said 25-year-olds Kevin Burge and Steven Gudknecht of Chalfont, Pa., were arrested on misdemeanor trespassing charges around 3:45 a.m. Sunday at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.
Chicago Cubs spokesman Julian Green said team security spotted the men sneaking into the stadium on CCTV cameras and officers found the two men “on the field, as they were trying to get ivy.”
The Philadelphia Phillies are currently in Chicago to play a series against the Cubs.
“These were just some fans who probably wanted to take a piece of Wrigley Field back home,” Green said.
