Low Vitamin D Level May Raise Mortality Among Elderly, Study Says

November 11, 2009 by

Low vitamin D level may raise mortality among elderly, study saysAccording to recent research, seniors who have insufficient levels of vitamin D have a higher risk of dying from heart disease than individuals with adequate levels of the vitamin.

The study, which analyzed the link between levels of the vitamin in the bloodstream and the death rates of those 65 and older, was published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society.

It found that seniors with a vitamin D deficiency were three times more likely to die from cardiovascular diseases and two and a half times more likely to die from any cause, compared to those who maintained optimum levels of the vitamin.

The study’s lead author Dr. Adit Ginde, who works at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine’s Division of Emergency Medicine, explains that considering the aging U.S. population and the easiness with which vitamin D levels can be increased, "a small improvement in death rates could have a substantial impact on public health."

Vitamin D is found in milk, fish and eggs as well as cod liver oil and nutritional supplements. It is also produced in the body after exposure to the sun.

The healthy, natural level of activated vitamin D is at least 50 ng/ml in the blood. Get the facts at Vitamin D Council.

You don’t have to be an MD to know that Vitamin D can help. People need to realize that self-education is more valuable than the AMA and its business-motivated ‘science.’
The AMA relies on information that is outdated (approx. 100 years old). American MDs are trained to be suspicious of anything that is close to natural. As a result, the FDA and the AMA and Big Pharma worship profits and a steady supply of ailing patients. Money not only talks for them and to them – it roars.
Give Vitamin D a try. You won’t have to play a twisted game of side-effects roulette, and you won’t have to see an MD or a pharamacist (a word to the wise. buy only QUALITY Vitamin D).
Here’s to your good health! You deserve it.

The AMA, FDA and most, but not all M.D.’s need to be educated regarding the full benefits of supplements and the proper usage of vitamins. There is no profit in curing disease. There are certain groups that want to basically make it so that you need a prescription to get vitamins….ever hear of CODEX?

The whole virtamin D thing just goes to show you how corrupt our medical system is at its core. This is where health reform must take place if we are to be a strong nation.

It should be taken in the Vit. D3 form at from 2,ooo to 4,000 IU per day. One should not consume more thatn 8,000 IU per day. Never take it in the later afternoon or night hours for the body cycles it out of the blood during those times. It is toxic taken in the evening hours.

It powerfully boosts immune system functions, almost unimaginably. One of my most trusted resources says Vitamin D3 at proper blood concentrations confers very high protection from viral attack…if basic nutrient support is also in place. That said, if something so cheap and so simple is so effective what is it except gross negligence(manslaughter) or malpractice when medicine withholds this knowledge then people die because the H1N1 vaccine isn’t coming? At least they should be being told that they could get a high level of protection by takng 2,000 – 4,000 IU of Vit D3 daily. But, that’s our CDC, FDA Congress and medical disease care system.

Take care of yourself; don’t rely on them.
