Lions And Tigers And Terrorists, Oh My!

definition of terrorist

The debate over what actions actually constitute “terrorism,” I believe, will become one of the defining ideological battles of our era. Terrorism is not a word often used by common people to describe aberrant behaviors or dastardly deeds; however, it is used by governments around the world to label and marginalize political enemies. That is to say, it is the government that normally decides who is a “terrorist” and who is a mere “criminal,” the assertion being that one is clearly far worse than the other.

The terrorist label elicits emotional firestorms and fearful brain-quakes in the minds of the masses. It causes the ignorant and unaware to abandon principles they would normally apply to any other malicious enterprise. They begin to reason that a criminal should be afforded justice, while a terrorist should be afforded only vengeance, even though the act of branding a person a “terrorist” is often completely arbitrary. This vengeance is usually pursued by any means. Thus, the terrorist moniker becomes a rationalization for every vicious and inhuman policy of the establishment, as well as for the citizenry.

Dishonorable and foolish people claim the existence of terrorism essentially gives license for the rest of us to become criminal, willfully trampling on individuals’ rights to privacy, property, free speech, due process, civic participation, etc. Mass criminality against the individual in the name of social safety is the glue that holds together all tyrannical systems, triggering a catastrophic cycle of moral relativism that eventually bleeds a culture dry.

Historically, the expanded use of the terrorist label by governments tends to coincide with the rising tides of despotism. A government that quietly seeks to dominate the people will inevitably begin to treat the people as if they are the enemy. Those citizens who present the greatest philosophical or physical threat to the centralization of power are usually the first to suffer. I do not think it is unfair to say that any system of authority that suddenly claims to see terrorists under every rock and behind every tree is probably about to rain full-on fascism down upon the population.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is the legal extension of this process, with a vaporous gray language that allows the government to interpret it in any manner it deems useful, which conveniently allows it to interpret a wide range of “offenses” as acts of war against the state.

The Department of Homeland Security’s “If You See Something Say Something” campaign is the social extension of the process, by which it creates the framework for a paranoid self-censored surveillance culture.

The fusion center network is the enforcement extension designed to surround local and State police with an atmosphere of indoctrination and federalized dogma, teaching common cops to profile according to a template that is so ambiguous that literally any activity could be considered suspicious or terroristic.

All that is left for the establishment is to force the vocabulary of fear into mainstream consciousness. This means constant propaganda. This means furious hype. This means an utterly shameless barrage of false associations, misdirections and fantastical fairyland lies. This means that we have reached a point in the grand totalitarian scheme in which the American populace is about to be bombarded with an endless drone of terrorism brainwashing — not demonizing a foreign enemy, but demonizing the hypothetical extremist next door. In fact, the Boston Marathon bombing seems to have been the signal for an escalation of such rhetoric. The high-speed conditioning has already begun.

In Middlefield, Ohio, James Gilkerson, an unemployed man taking care of his elderly mother, was pulled over during a routine traffic stop only to exit his vehicle firing an AK-47 at police officers. The action was obviously unprovoked; the police responded with deadly force, and rightly so. I would have done the same. Gilkerson’s attack was crazy, yes. Criminal? Yes. But Middlefield Police Chief Arnold Stanko’s remarks to the press bring a whole other dark side to this already tragic event. Stanko stated that: “He got out of the vehicle, intending to kill my officers. We don’t know why he did it… He was a scumbag and a terrorist, and he’s dead.”

Stanko doesn’t know why Gilkerson fired at police, but he is certain that the man was a “terrorist.” What if Gilkerson was depressed or overmedicated or he just snapped that day? Terrorism denotes certain premeditation and planning. This attack was clearly not part of a malicious scheme, yet the label of “terrorist” is being thrown around nonchalantly, almost as if law enforcement has been trained to use such rhetoric whenever it suits them.

In Montevideo, Minn., the FBI recently raided the home of Buford Rogers, who was convicted of felony burglary in 2011. Authorities had received reports that Buford was in possession of a firearm, which is illegal for convicted felons. The raid did indeed produce firearms, as well as items the FBI dubbed “explosive devices.” They did not specify what these “explosive devices” were or if they actually posed a significant threat to anyone. After the bust, headlines read “FBI Thwarts Terror Attack.”

Again, there is absolutely no indication here of a planned attack. There’s no indication that Rogers had any intent to hurt anyone or even any ideological motivations to hurt anyone. Yet the terrorism label is used again to describe a routine criminal arrest.

In Tempe, Ariz., 18-year-old Joshua Prater was arrested after a maid found an “explosive device” in his closet and turned it in to authorities. Prater claims he built the device, consisting of a carbon dioxide cartridge, a fireworks fuse, gunpowder, match heads and fireworks, eight years ago; and he claims he was not aware it was dangerous. Police did not call Prater a terrorist, but they did refer to his device as an “IED,” which, as we all know, is the abbreviation used by U.S. soldiers to describe an “improvised explosive device,” the favorite weapon of insurgents and “terrorists” in Iraq and Afghanistan. Such terminology is not coincidental. Make no mistake; this is a calculated effort to introduce the language of the battlefield to the streets of America.

Seattle police are now holding simulation drills at local schools in which law enforcement officials fight against gun-wielding proxy opponents posing as “angry parents.”

These kinds of drills are a part of a larger DHS program implemented through fusion centers which, in my view, is designed to desensitize law enforcement to violence against common citizens. Said drills have simulated conflicts with constitutionalists, home-schoolers, patriots and so on. Let’s be clear here; the “terrorists” that the police are now being trained to fight against are people like you and me. We are being painted as the future enemy.

Just to solidify this reality, I will also point out the recent exposure of a DHS training program series available on the Federal Emergency Management Agency Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program website, which includes a media section designed to provide teaching aids to agency heads and law enforcement. The series includes a fabricated news broadcast that covers a hypothetical raid on a “militia headquarters.” The video shows semi-automatic firearms, rifle scopes, night vision, flak jackets — all perfectly legal in the United States today — as illegal “contraband,” while painting gun owners and militias as chemical weapon-wielding terrorists.

What started as an appeal to the average American’s sense of Islamophobia after the 9/11 attacks has now evolved into the full-spectrum theater of random domestic terrorism that culminates in what the establishment calls “self-radicalization.”

The concept of self-radicalization is a very interesting propaganda tactic. Rather than limiting the public’s fear only to some outside foreign enemy like al-Qaida or some domestic activist organization like the liberty movement, the establishment has now composed a narrative in which each and every one of us might one day catch the extremist virus of dissent, defiance or ideological violence and suddenly decide to kill, kill, kill.

The more naïve subsections of our society will accept unConstitutional methods against the “radicalized” out of fear and conditioning, without realizing that the machinations of bureaucracy being used against those they hate could just as easily be used against them in the future.

If the elites achieve the social endgame they desire, legal and political wordplay will become so broad that anyone could be targeted. If you are a citizen who defies the establishment power structure, then you are an extremist. If you are an extremist, then you are a terrorist. If you are a terrorist, then you are an enemy combatant. And, under the NDAA, if you are an enemy combatant, you are no longer a citizen and you no longer deserve Constitutional protection. The circular logic is maddening, not to mention outrageous. But it is also very useful when an abusive government needs a pretext to silence or destroy dissent. Under totalitarianism, all people become terrorists. It starts with the mistreatment of the worst of us, and it ends with the mistreatment of the best of us.

    In Obama’s mind, what little he has, a terrorist is anyone, such as myself, who opposes his Nazi policies. His brain dead supporters agree with him. You either follow and obey Obama without question, or you are a terrorist as well as a racist.

    • nc

      Harold, how many people on your block, in your town, or in your state have been hauled off to jail for being a terrorist by not agreeing with the President? Or as you put it opposed “to his nazi policies” I voted for Obama twice but I was not in agreement with his move for health care overhaul at the time he did because I felt he had more immediate tasks of correcting the miserable economy left by bush. I said so but no federal troops have been to my door! I also think he was wrong to have stayed in Afghanistan this long and have said so aloud and that hasn’t brought the “feds” down on me!

      I am a white man who prefers the Democrat platform of women and workers rights as opposed to the opposition of the Republican platform and have long before Obama came on the scene. I will continue to do so even if the Republicans nominate a black person, if that black person vows to support the Republican platform!!!!!! Does that make me racist???

      I also thought the most qualified person in bush’s cabinet was Colin Powell! Is that racist???

      • stopspending4

        Some people have been targeted because of conservative beliefs that conflicted with O. Just ask those targeted by the IRS, as the IRS admitted. Just ask the AP who had their phone records confiscated illegally. Just ask those threatened and/or arrested for owning legally a gun.
        How many do you think is OK? Also, how many terrorists do you think are OK? How much voter fraud is OK? I suggest ZERO of all these things is the correct number.

        • NC

          Stopspending4, targeting the opposition is not a liberal invention! Ask Valerie Plame, John Kerry and the people whose phones were tapped by the FBI during the bush administration!

          How many terrorist are ok? Ask bush! His own generals said his policy made more terrorist than it killed!!!!
          Voter fraud? Are you sure that none of it aided the conservatives? Really?? Independent adults are watching your answer! In any event how many elections can you PROVE OR HAVE BEEN PROVED were changed by fraud??

          • stopspending4

            So, you think all those things are OK because in your mind, Bush and/or conservatives also do it? I do not agree no matter who is committing illegal acts. They should be investigated and dealt with.
            So in order for it to be considered voter fraud, you have to PROVE that is changed the outcome of an election? Really? That is your standard of proof? So is it OK to commit other illegal acts if no harm is done? Why have laws if they are not enforced. Ok for criminals to have guns as long as they do not shoot anyone? Of course, once they kill someone with the gun it is too late to enforce the law. Once an election is changed because of fraud, it is too late to enforce voter laws. BTW, the outcome of the Al Franken election was quit possibly a result of fraud but it was not investigated by the gov.

          • Hawk!

            NC – All you have to do it look at the county by county electorial maps of the last “election” or watch the videos of open voter intimidation. The later published repeatedly by the liberal press! The Bush administration is long gone but abuses of power are ramping up at incredable rates. Your saviour is spending us blind, scaring the country half to death and creating “terrorists” just by changing the definition. I don’t care who was aided by voter fraud, it’s wrong in any situation. Take your Oblinders off and vote for the country. It USED to be free and decent and one time.

            PS Don’t come on this forum and extol the virtues of Barack Obama. It will only get you the wrath it deserves.

            While I certainly wouldn’t want to incur the wrath of such a dangerous Hawk as yourself, I might point out that while the W may be gone, he is not forgotten. His tax cuts are still with us as are his idiotic wars and the trillions they cost. Policies don’t end with the presidential term, and we’ll be feeling the effects of W’s Reign of Error for a generation.

          • samurai

            Bush, baaaaa! Wars, baaaaa! Tax cuts, baaaaa! Still the sheeple, eh Jeff? Iraq is over, Afghanistan is now Obama bin Laden’s war (More have died in Afghanistan under Obama bin Laden then any died under Bush, counting women and children), and the tax cuts were across the board, not just for the rich. I still remember in 2001 and 2003 receiving checks for $600 from the government, don’t you? These tax cuts helped to spark recoveries from the mess that Clinton left us and after 9/11. Do you ever tell the truth about anything? Here is an article showing the House, finally, standing up for the people’s rights against the IRS.
            Just another branch of the government doing Obama’s dirty work. This may be because he is a coward and has not the nads to do it himself. Not a man. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY! 하나님하고 나라를 위해서!

        You both need to see that each party is furthering the erosion of our rights and they are doing it on a BIPARTISAN basis. The Patriot Act, Homeland Security, the foolish wars, the secrecy in government, the NDAA 2012 disgrace, the $63 Billion for Domestic Drones, etc. could not be passed if we had more than a handful of freedom defenders. The opposition to the march toward a police state is being steamrolled by both sides who will only argue about how much more of our debt burden they can foist upon the Middle Class while the wealthy get more tax shelters and breaks.

      • Ponyrunner

        It doesn’t make you racist. It shows you are misinformed at best and an idiot at worst. Any party that has abortion as part of its plank is an abomination. It is not the Democratic party of your Dad’s generation. It has evolved into a socialist type party.

        • nc

          Pony, Abortion is not illegal under the Constitution nor was Roe V Wade a “Democrat” a decision! While I agree with it I also know that 5 (a majority) of the Justices who agreed with the decision were appointed by Republican Presidents! If you feel a need to “bitch” about it call GOP headquarters.

          The Democrat party is not the party of my father BUT NEITHER is the USA the same USA of my father. It has changed ever since 1781 and will keep changing as long as the world changes and I truly hope that my party changes with it! 1860 conservative knuckle dragging policy can not answer the needs of a changing nation!
          If watching my grandparents and parents live a more comfortable life in their later years with Social Security makes me a socialist then you can bet your a$$ I am a socialist! If joining the government controlled Marine Corps in the greatest military in the history of man, makes me a socialist you can bet your other A$$ I am a socialist! If waking up every morning knowing my party has contributed just as much or more than any other party to my country’s greatness makes me socialist then that’s what I am and proud of it! It’s your labels but it is my country!
          If taking an oath 4 times in my life to defend OUR Constitution and in 77 years never once having ANYONE question my dedication to that oath or to OUR CONSTITUTION makes me a “socialist ” I stand proudly accused!
          THE FOUNDING FATHERS said that one of the reasons they were establishing this country was to “PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE” of it’s citizens .Establishing off shore bank accounts with tax breaks and controlling workers rights to organize were not listed as primary considerations.

          • Ponyrunner

            It doesn’t make a difference if abortion is legal or not. It is still wrong. Slavery at one time was legal as well.

            Your party has lost its way. It would give other people’s money to those who will not work, let non-citizens vote, sacrifices the next generation on the altar of “choice”, makes it harder for individuals to realize their American dream with regulations and taxation – all in the name of “what is best for us”. And to be fair number of Republicans at this point are just Democrat lite.

            I guess if personal and fiscal responsibility qualifies as knuckle dragging then so be it. You are however grossly misinterpreting the general welfare clause. The Founding Fathers said in the preamble that one reason for establishing the Constitution was to “promote the general welfare.”

            What they meant was that the Constitution and powers granted to the federal government were not to favor
            special interest groups or particular classes of people. There were to be no privileged individuals or groups in society. Neither minorities nor the majority was to be favored. Rather, the Constitution would promote the “general welfare” by ensuring a free society where free, self-responsible individuals – rich and poor, bankers and shopkeepers, employers and employees, farmers and blacksmiths – would enjoy “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” rights expressed in the
            Declaration of Independence.

            James Madison stated that the “general welfare” clause was not intended to give Congress an open hand “to exercise every power which may be alleged to be necessary for the common defense or general

            Even though I disagree with your politics, I will say thank you for your service

          • Vigilant

            James Madison:
            “If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare,
            and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare,
            they may take the care of religion into their own hands;
            they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish
            and pay them out of their public treasury;
            they may take into their own hands the education of children,
            establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union;
            they may assume the provision of the poor;
            they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads;
            in short, everything, from the highest object of state legislation
            down to the most minute object of police,
            would be thrown under the power of Congress…. Were the power
            of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for,
            it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature
            of the limited Government established by the people of America.”

        nc, once again I suggest you grab some history books (preferably ones not written in the last 10 years), and take note of how tyrannical governments began. So no, no one on Harold’s street have been hauled off to jail for being a terrorist (although some may have been visited by the IRS).

        Your freedoms are taken away a bit at a time, in little innocuous ways that you really don’t have time to take issue with. Soon they can justify even more and more drastic measures to “assure the security of the public”. It is the Statist way. Check out pre-1940 Europe.

          A real Christian would find a way to reach the woman and convince her not to have an abortion. Give her emotional and economic support. Find someone to adopt the baby. Support her and give her the means to raise the baby. Anyone can simply say “it should be illegal.” So, do you want to arrest the mother? How many years should she do? And does it matter if she was raped? Does it matter if the child is the product of incest? Does the mother’s age matter?

      You seem to understand other peoples “mind” better than your own. What is it that constitutes “Nazi policy” to you? ~

      For as i see it ~ if there exist such a policy ~ it’s origin would be traced back to W’s administration.

      But we must take into account the prevailing climate at the time as extreme times calls for extreme measures.

      Rather then isolate and contain the radical Muslim scourge, W spent the majority of his time in office effective spreading the radical Muslim scourge across the globe. ~ They are much like roaches ~ if you spray your home for roaches, they simply move next door when someone has not sprayed.

        Still trying to blame someone else? Bush has been gone 5 years and the Dems have had control of some or all of Congress for even longer. O and the Dems have had plenty of time to stop or reverse what you and other leftists believe were problems caused by Bush. Close gitmo – not yet. Stop the wars – not yet. Make the muslim countries like us – not yet. Make the world a safer place – not yet. Improve the world view of US – not yet. Seems O and company are not making much progress on the important things but doing plenty of fundraising and “fixin” to get things right.

          Bush and O are two side of the same coin. Where Bush opened the door, O has used storm troopers to a rush the city and push through Obamacare, gun control, censorship, loss of freedoms for citizens, insured rights for non citizens (illegal aliens), excoriating those who love freedom and legitimizing those who love control.

          • stopspending4

            Scary to think what the next Pres will do. Seems each leader uses the past mistakes and pushes it further. Congress should have stopped Bush from his gov expansion but Congress was Dem controlled so they were Ok with expanding gov. O and his followers have no hesitation with expanding as you point out.

        Nazi policy? Straight from the Nuremberg Trials (after the defeat of Nazi Germany):

        What happened in constitutional Germany in the past was not a “fast” takeover – the destruction of its legitimate government was done slowly over a decade, and quite possibly 2 or more decades.

        The chief instrument of keeping cohesion in plan and action was the National Socialist German Workers Party. First they were to infiltrate the legitimate government and from within bring about “change”.

        Some of their (Nazi) declared purposes sounded good to many good citizens, such as: “profit-sharing in the great industries,” {Take from the 1% and share with all}

        The Party said that a “strong centralized government” was needed. It demanded the creation of a strong central
        power with unconditional authority. {Sound familiar?}

        “Uncontrolled search and seizure is one of the first and most effective weapons in the arsenal of every arbitrary government. Among deprivations of rights, none is so effective in cowing a population, crushing the spirit of the individual and putting terror in every heart.” Justice Robert Jackson, Chief U.S. Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials (search and seizure here with NO warrants anymore – think about it)

        Eventually they organized and dominated every phase of German life, disarmed the populace using the gun registration already in place there {as is being tried here thru the UN laws, and executive orders, bills, laws made here}.

        They created a “Party” police system, militarized police, which became the pattern and the instrument of the police state, which was the first goal in their plan. {DHS and TSA – starting to arrange themselves throughout our nation to control our every move and where we can go: at airports, bus stations, train stations, even on our own roads}

        Germany had economic problems at that time, which led to problems within the politics; plus there was also a worldwide
        depression at that time which added to the uncertainties of the general populace within that country.

        Soon after Hitler became Chancellor, the Reichstag building was set on fire. The burning of this symbol of free parliamentary government was the “opening” for the Nazis to complete the takeover of the German populace. The significant point is in the use that was made of the fire and of the state of public mind it produced. It led the way into the destruction of the general populaces natural rights.
        {9/11, and the state of mind produced here in the USA. The curtailing of our Natural rights that the Constitution guarantees no one serving within our government can touch for ANY reason, the loss of privacy, One’s right to life, liberty and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, protest, and other fundamental rights, etc}.

        Those decree’s were restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion – including freedom of the press, on the right of peaceful assembly, the right of
        And violations of the privacy: postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications;
        And no need for warrants for house-searches, orders for,
        confiscations as well as restrictions on property, etc all taken away under the guise of “keeping the people safe”.
        {much like what is happening within the USA today, as all of the “restrictions” on our freedoms are “for our own safety”}
        Many were arrested as “belligerents” – no real crime committed, just disagreeing with the destruction of their legitimate government.}

        Some of their (German’s) constitutional rights:”Article 114. The freedom of the person is inviolable. Curtailment or deprivation of personal freedom by a public authority is only permissible on a legal basis”.
        “Article 115. Every German’s home is his sanctuary and is inviolable. Exceptions may only be made as provided by law”.
        “Article 117. The secrecy of letters and all postal, telegraphic, and telephone communications is inviolable.”
        “Article 123. All Germans have the right to assemble peacefully and unarmed without giving notice and without special permission”.
        ETC (Sound familiar?)

        Secret arrest and indefinite detention; without charges, without evidence, without hearing, without counsel, and no court could issue an injunction, or writ of habeas corpus, or certiorari. The German people were in the hands of the police, the police were in the hands of the Nazi Party, and the Party was in the hands of a ring of evil men who wanted to rule the world. {NDAA, Patriot Act, various executive orders, warrantless arrests, New World Order, etc}

        Answer me this, what exactly is the difference between “rule the world” and “one world government” besides the words describing it – ending is the same?

        The conspiracy went into its second phase. Religions that supported peace, liberties, individual choices instead of the “common good” had to be ended. {Hmm, the military is cracking down on all soldiers who are christians right now}

        Bush 1 (The Bush family supported the Nazi regime – paid some penalties for it), Clinton, Bush 2, Obama are all supporting UN’s Agenda 21. The final push of Agenda 21 is to “unite” us all – an end to the current system of individual nations under their own governments, instead replaced with a One World Government. You know – Control the World?

        If you think Obama bin Laden has been criticized more than Georege W. Bush, you must be smoking some good weed. Though Bush has been gone for 5 years, you and your ilk, still criticize him to this day. Sheesh! Get a grip and a life. Here is a video showing that the left and the 5th column want Obama bin Laden for a third term.

          Bush received plenty of criticism but it was for his actions. The tax cuts, never paying for anything he proposed, the wars, particularly Iraq. Johnson and Nixon received plenty of criticism over Viet Nam, too. It’s different with Clinton and particularly Obama who get criticized just for being who they are. Take the Syria thing. Nobody knows what to do there. We want to go in and stop the killing, but our presence will probably make things worse. You can criticize Obama for not doing enough. Like McCain. Fine. Fair enough. But the minute he decides to do something, you’ll criticize him for that. The Repugs will change their position in a heartbeat just to criticize Obama.

    “One’s mans terrorist is another mans Freedom Fighter.”

    Our founding fathers, if you asked the English, would have been the “terrorist”. That’s the reason why they included things like Habeus Corpus and right to privacy. But what we really need to do is to ask ourselves “Who is the enemy?” I think Pogo was right. “I have seen the enemy, and he is us.” I do not think that people fighting for the right to collectively organize are “terrorists”. But, I know many here feel different. I do not think that people who advocate workers rights are terrorists. And Unions are not terrorist organizations. However, the ‘Patriot Act’ , written by Bush and co., classified Unions as a “Terrorist Organization” due to the fact of having the power to strike.

    • rendarsmith

      Are you talking about when Education Secretary Rod Paige called the teacher’s union a terrorist organization?

    • CJ

      Obviously you talk in circles to distract from the point. A terrorist seeks to remove freedoms by instilling chaos. A freedom fighter seeks to hold on to them. Being one vs. being labeled one does NOT make for the same conclusion. The source must be considered, and when collective organization takes on terrorist behavior, they are being terrorists. Freedom has a very explicit definition, and trying to confuse the discussion with progressive/democratic rhetoric or non sequitur issues shows intent to cause chaos and disruption. We, the better informed here aren’t biting.

      • Flashy

        So the Contras were terrorists. That’s what I’ve always said…though the Reaganites always said they were butchering nuns and farmers and terrorizing the populace as Freedom Fighters.

        The IRA is a patriotic organization fighting as Freedom Fighters.

        Those that bombed the Marines in Beirut were Freedom Fighters eh?

        Hezbollah are Freedom Fighters according to your definition.

        Etc etc.

        • Kuurus

          Terror-ist : one who uses terror(fear of force) to reach a political end.
          Freedom fighter : one that uses force to maintain or gain freedom.
          Bin Ladin: terrorist after he was a freedom fighter in Afghanistan.
          The IRA were terrorist because they struck at people who had no reason to expect a fight.
          The Contras were a mess looking to be a mess.
          the PLO were terrorists attacking civilians to drive fear.

    • Maynard Runkle

      Your are right, but what any group can do is use terror tactics. And what the government has done is to try to remove any impediments to their lust for greater wealth and power by using their own terror tactics ( WTC ’93, Oklahoma City, 9/11, the anthrax attacks, the lies about WMD’s, the Boston Bombing, the sudden increase in “crazed gunmen” to pry the weapons from the public, all to further their own Police State agenda.) It is working for them. We have spent almost a TRILLION preparing: FEMA Fusion camps, billion bullet buyout, surveillance, domestic drones, riot weapons and tanks, an enormous bloated bureaucracy, the Continuity in Government Boondoggle at the Denver Airport, secret prisons around the world, Guantanamo. It ain’t cheap and could be self defeating when our economy goes bust. China and Japan are being backed by Brazil, Russia and India and are waiting for the right moment to get rid of the dollar as the world wide currency. Then all those “Security” measures will not make us safe from starvation and chaos.

    • K Bright

      FBI definition of ‘Terrorist’: The ‘Code of Federal Regulations’ as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28
      C.F.R. Section 0.85).

      The FBI further describes terrorism as either domestic or international, depending on the origin, base, and objectives of the terrorist organization. For the purpose of this report, the FBI uses the following definitions:

      Domestic terrorism is the unlawful use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual based and operating entirely within the United States or Puerto Rico without foreign direction committed against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof in furtherance of political or social objectives.

      International terrorism involves violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or any state, or that would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or any state. These acts appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or affect the conduct of a government by assassination or kidnapping. International terrorist acts occur outside the United States or transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the persons they appear intended to coerce or intimidate, or the locale in which their perpetrators operate or seek asylum.

      The FBI also further divides terrorist-related activities into two categories:

      A terrorist incident is a violent act or an act dangerous to human life, in violation of the criminal laws of the United States, or of any state, to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

      A terrorism prevention is a documented instance in which a violent act by a known or suspected terrorist group or individual with the means and a proven propensity for violence is successfully interdicted through investigative activity.

      Does this help you to understand who is using the threat of force to change our type of government – “in furtherance of political or social objectives”? Whistle-blowers jailed for telling of the crimes done by “our” US military and federal government. TSA everywhere asking for our ID’s, where are we going, ETC

    • WTS/JAY

      Biden himself draws parallels between his 1995 bill and its 2001 cousin.

      “I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill,” he said when the Patriot Act was being debated, according to the New Republic, which described him as “the Democratic Party’s de facto spokesman on the war against terrorism.”

      The Center for National Securities reported in 1995:

      On February 10, 1995, a counterterrorism bill drafted by the Clinton
      Administration was introduced in the Senate as S. 390 and in the House of Representatives as H.R. 896.

      The Clinton bill is a mixture of: provisions eroding constitutional and
      statutory due process protections, selective federalization — on political grounds — of state crimes (minus state due process rules), discredited ideas from the Reagan and Bush Administrations, and the extension of some of the worst elements of crime bills of the recent past.

      The legislation would:

      1. Authorize the Justice Department to pick and choose crimes to
      investigate and prosecute based on political beliefs and associations;

      2. Repeal the ancient provision barring the U.S. military from civilian
      law enforcement;

      3. Expand a pre-trial detention scheme that puts the burden of proof on the accused;

      4. Loosen the carefully-crafted rules governing federal wiretaps, in
      violation of the Fourth Amendment;

      5. Establish special courts that would use secret evidence to order the deportation of persons convicted of no crimes, in violation of basic principles of due process;

      6. Permit permanent detention by the Attorney General of aliens convicted of no crimes, with no judicial review;

      7. Give the President unreviewable power to criminalize fund-raising for lawful activities associated with unpopular causes;

      8. Renege on the Administration’s approval in the last Congress of a
      provision to insure that the FBI would not investigate based on First
      Amendment activities; and

      9. Resurrect the discredited ideological visa denial provisions of the
      McCarran Walter Act to bar foreign speakers.

      So you see, folks, “BOTH PARTIES” are in on it!…-by-joe-biden/

  • Deerinwater

    Well Brandon, this was of great concern for many of us back when GW instituted “Home Land Security” . Where it be the term “Terrorist or Weapons of Mass Destruction” it allowed government too much latitude and offered pretext to abridge just about anyone found suspect Bill of Rights.

    We’ve endured 13 years of it now. ~

    So? How do you like me now Pal?

    • Vigilant

      DW, your comments would be lent a greater air of legitimacy if you weren’t so obsessed with your hatred for GWB. A number of points:

      (1) You won’t find any support for GWB’s policies in general on this site, so you’re wasting your breath.

      (2) As posted above, Obama’s had over four years to correct the mistakes of GWB and has done nothing to reverse them. You don’t absolve bad behavior by pointing to previous bad behavior.

      (3) We may have “endured” 13 years of the ills of which you speak; we have endured over 4 years of complaints about a president who is no longer in office. It gets old real quick.

      (4) The excessive latitude and “pretext to abridge just about anyone found suspect [sic] Bill of Rights” have increased in depth and intensity since Obama was elected, not decreased.

      • smilee

        What you say would have some merit if it was possible to correct a ten year problem in four years but that’s not possible, we have come a long way on the way to that end and would have been further along correcting it if the republicans in the house would have cooperated but they do not wanted it corrected for political reasons, priority political outcomes was to make Obama a one term president but they miscalculated and now have dug in their heals even harder to obstructing even more. So there is no real merit it what you say as you overlook a lot of what is really going on.

        • Vigilant

          “What you say would have some merit if it was possible to correct a ten year problem in four years but that’s not possible…”

          What I say has a lot of merit, given the fact that the main problem has been Obama’s CONTINUATION of economic policies begun by GWB. And, I might add, on steroids.
          Relative to obstructionism, you bet your sweet bippie that all the guns of politics should be brought in to counter this continuation of GWB’s ruinous economic policies. In retrospect, Obama should have been a ZERO term, let alone a two term, president.

          As for an inability to mitigate the effects of a ten year problem in four years, it would have been entirely possible to do so if politicians of all stripes had had the guts and best interests of the country in mind.

          If you believe that the country is headed in the right direction, then you have disregarded both the overwhelming perceptions of the American people, and, as you put it, “you overlook a lot of what is really going on.”

          • Deerinwater

            Vigilant offers “given the fact that the main problem has been Obama’s CONTINUATION of economic policies begun by GWB. And, I might add, on steroids.”

            I ask, ~ Has not “O” attempted to change much of these things that you speak of and met much gridlock on the Senate Floor? ~ Yet it is true, “44” has often been left with simply attempting to keep the music going and the ball in play unable to garner the support for this change as Mitch McConnell attempts to show this administration as a failure on all fronts. (with some success, I might add)
            Mich says;
            “When I first came into office, the head of the Senate Republicans said, ‘my number one priority is making sure president Obama’s a one-term president.’ Now, after the election, either he will have succeeded in that goal or he will have failed at that goal.”

            You and I will have to disagree about what is seen as the “MAIN problem” ~ while maybe we can agree on others?

            I don’t know if the effects could have been completely mitigated in four years but there certainly could have been significant progress made ” …if politicians of all stripes had had the guts and best interests of the country in mind.”

          • Smilee

            Neither GWB or Obama makes the law they were both dependent on what congress was willing to give them and neither got from Congress what was needed to recover at a faster therefore it will be almost ten years to recover because of Congress. Never the less under Obama we ended the backwards slide and having been going forward at the pace Congress Allowed. There are more jobs the stock market has more than doubled during this time and exports have increased, houses being built and sold again and worth more. On one annuity personally I lost 35 thousand in 2008 and today i have gained that back plus twenty thousand or a total of 55 thousand, there is evidence galore that things have gotten much better during these four+ years and to say otherwise is just simply false.

      • Deerinwater

        Point taken Vigilant ~ with a single exception as you accuse me of “hate for W” . ~ Please point out in my posting an example of me expressing “Hate” toward anyone ~ much less “W”.

        Did I not offer ~ extreme times calls for extreme measures?

        I point to W’s administration for good reason, as it offered context ~ as Brandon brings forward old concerns many of us had back when he was as only a Pup of the potential for government overreach with the establishment of HLS. ~~ And as you so rightly state ~ any attempt to deny government this tool will meet with stiff resistance. It would be much easier to hair lip the devil himself. ~ Entrenched government has created an industry around this new power and they will find the means to justify it. while shutting down a government intelligence industry can prove most difficult on a good day.

        We still have vestiges of rouge intelligence operatives still in play today, left over from the cold war era. ~ at a certain levels of play ~ it’s much like the “mob” ~ you can’t retire and you can’t just quit! ~ You know too much. You become a liability. ~ This incentive to keep the music playing is great.

        You seem to carry a predisposition about me that is false Vigilant.

        I don’t see you as a garden variety extreme right winger Vigilant, ~ why judge me like one?

        • Vigilant

          My apologies. I see from your responses that are not a shallow man, nor one who states an opinion without taking as objective an approach as you can.

          Frankly, it was your seemingly continual references to GWB that fostered the idea that you were just another Bush basher. In that respect, I stand corrected.

          • Deerinwater

            No problem here ~ They are all rascals! ~

            As Brandon offer us ~ He sees a progression ~ that he believe is leading to a “process of totalitarianism”.

            If so, ~ we cannot leave out any recent time period and that includes “W”s..

            I understand what Brandon is witnessing ~ a progression of government that is slowly chipping away at our personal freedoms. ~ where it be manifested from the right or left. ~

            We have lost a lot of personal freedom in my 65 years while some of these loses have been replaced with rewards in other areas of human endeavors. A trade-off of sorts.

            Remember when we could hunt rabbits at night from the road? ~ We can’t do that anymore!

            or ride in the back of a pickup? ~ When you could just dig a well because you wanted one? No asking anyone. ~ no permits. or just build a house? Anyway that you wanted to build it. Those days are all but gone.

            I don’t see a totalitarian government anytime soon but as extreme times (like 9-11) does call for extreme measures it could happen to a sleepy population.

            We have address such time in our past by enacting a War Powers Act” ~ This gave government the tools that they required to conduct “warfare” on any and everyone seen as an enemy of the states. This afforded us a beginning and a end. By not using this tool ,”The war powers act” and openly declaring wars ~ the HLS act has given the federal government a Carta Banc with no expiration date.

            Obama is now being counselled ~ by the people that are employed and hold down this federal government agency ~ to resolved it would be a huge mistake of epic proportion as the threat is still ever present,

            With all the other issue we are attempting to address today~ creating one more does not seem very wise.

            It will be left for another President to address. We”ll be lucky to get some kind of meaningful immigration reform in his final days.

        • Nadzieja Batki

            Yo Darwin,
            You do know that Sammy cherry picks the facts to make his arguments and will often work in a bit of fiction as well.

          • Deerinwater

            I have zero control over you or what you think Nadzieja, don’t place that responsibility on me, ~ It is you that must account for your judgement and not I.

    • Brandon Smith

      I think you are foolishly caught in the false left/right paradigm, which is why you cannot comprehend that Bush’s actions were merely a precursor to Obama’s expansion of federal tyranny. The neocons and the neolibs want the exact same thing; total centralization of power. They work in tandem with each other. It is a process. Bush was only a part of that process of totalitarianism, just like Obama is a part of the process. They are middlemen. Mascots working for globalism.

      I would like you just fine, if only you thought about the situation a little less superficially…and a little more clearly.

      • Deerinwater

        LOL! Friendly Fire ~ will have you ducking ~ Incoming is incoming

        regardless of who sent it.

        Oh! I’m not lost for one second. ~ as the left and right both wrestle for the same purse strings playing the good cop and bad cop routine. While you might tell me there is no difference, yet each would spend it somewhat differently, so there is a difference.

        When you or I are not include in “spending plans” this effect us. ~

        US dollars going to the middle east has bought us Terrorist. and exported it around the world.

        I understand what you are saying ~ Now if you can get more people saying it and believing it’s true. ~ Victory would be by default.

        I offered a descending voice and automatically I’ m found deserving the Scarlet Letter to be labeled, tagged and place in a box that conforms to your personal understanding.

        You say;
        “It is a process. Bush was only a part of that process of totalitarianism, just like Obama is a part of the process. They are middlemen. Mascots working for globalism.”

        I say, Exactly! ~ the world is full of middle men, ~ you and I are both one in our own special way ~ Don’t think for one second that you are somehow above and beyond it. We are all being played ! For anyone to believe otherwise is being most naive.

        To implement the change you seem to yearn for would require an attack on the world bankers ~ while rather then losing this power and position would willingly lay waste to most of the world. ~ World Bankers could create enough distraction where few would have such luxury as to sit and share platitudes and notions of personal liberties.

        We are not going to get out of this alive Brandon ~ but until that time, ~ fight for what you believe and live a rich humble life.

      You know, Darwan. As much as the two parties work hard at convincing us that they are in opposition to one another, the obvious truth that should be evident to even the dullest of intellect is that, they are “partners in crime”, both working hand-in-glove towards the same pre-detirmined end…case in point; Obama has not overturned or changed one single “element” of the previous administration’s policies. If anything, Obama has built upon them. So then, how is it that the “walking-dead” who worship and slobber after obama, can make the rediculous-claim that things have “changed for the better”? I’ll bet you one thing, Bush must be clapping with both hands watching Obama build his monstrosity upon his foundation!

      • Deerinwater

        Your unflattering description of supporter of the 44th President is very offensive Jay, and of course you intended it so. This offense is seen as an attack. ~ Only when you cease offending might you expect any defense of the President to Stop!

        Since you and your like minded friend enjoy the sport of personal attacks condescending and debasing. Such joy is for you to be had everyday! I find myself compelled, while only on occasion to engage you. I too enjoy it and think that it is great fun!

        Would you prefer that I just lay down and allow you to have your way? ~ Now what kind of fun would that possibly be? I enjoy worthy opposition.

        It is you that is that is leading out with offense, I am left with only three options ; ignore you, stall your attack or counter attack.. ~ when I can no longer ignore you, I will attempt to stall your attack. Only when I become annoyed will I counter.

        I think that it’s great fun! fun that I could never have without you Jay and Mr. Livingston’s forums.

        Shall we call it “lost dogs and mixed blessing”?

    Just one problem: how do you defend against the Brothers Tsarnaev, the Muhammad Attas, the Zacharias Moussaouis, and other such bad actors?

    I agree: the examples you cite, of what the government is actually doing, are not directed at the real threat. It’s as if they’re making up new kinds of threat as they go along, and conflating their own enemies with real ideological enemies of freedom.

    But that does not relieve us of the duty to identify real enemies, the sort of people who really think that an act of sabotage and/or mass murder would advance their faith (usually Islam), their cause, or whatever. And to develop sound, “decentralized” defenses against them. Defenses that, by the way, are independent of the government.

    Where, for example, are the neighborhood-watch equivalents in our cities’ industrial districts, ready to stop the next West, TX explosion before it happens? Why don’t more airlines adopt the kind of passenger screening that El Al uses (and equip their aircraft with the same kind of flak-and-flare systems that all El Al planes carry)?

    • K Bright

      What makes you think that the “Brothers Tsarnaev, the Muhammad Attas, the Zacharias Moussaouis, and other such bad actors” were not put togehter by the FBI? Every “terrorist” activity that has happened within the USA since 9/11 has been put together by the FBI. True using dupes, or mentally slow, or “actors” ….

      But look it up, the FBI was behind all of them.

      “Where, for example, are the neighborhood-watch equivalents in our
      cities’ industrial districts, ready to stop the next West, TX explosion
      before it happens?”

      First they did not stop it, it happened. Second did you not see the missle that came and hit it from upwind side? (missle going against the wind)

      The “Plus they were in a court battle with Monsanto. Guess they lost.
      The “real enemies” are those treasonous scum “serving” within our federal government, the FBI, etc. Think not, research it if you are not a government schill – which would also make you a traitor if you are a US citizen or one lawfully allowed to be here, or one who owes allegiance to the USA.

    • Maynard Runkle

      I do not know all the details. I have read that ATTA was another of our assets. At the Moussaoui terror trial our own FBI released a report that the phone calls alleged between the Olsons were “connected for 0 seconds.” That means Ted’s tragic tale was “concocted.” They say that his new wife bears a striking resemblance to Barbara. The Tsarnaevs could be patsies. The public was told to help identify and locate them when we now know that they have been on watch lists for years. The authorities are lying if they say they did not know exactly where to find them. Without proof, I theorize that they were scared out of their normal routine and foolishly thought they should make a run for it. When the homing devices under their vehicle revealed they were fleeing, the attack on them was made under the cover of darkness. The supposed “pressure cooker devices” were either non-existent or planted. It would not be the first time a police officer was sacrificed to make a suspect look guilty. (Recall the death of Officer Tippet pinned on Oswald despite the fact that there were different caliber bullets found at the site of Tippet’s death and Oswald at best had only one weapon.) There is photographic proof that Craft, Inc. Black Ops were at the Finish Line carrying hand held devices and BLACK BACK Packs like the one blown up at the scene. The logo on their hats reads something like Regardless of what your mother told you, violence does solve problems. There were many with such backpacks yet the watch list patsy boys are ” the only ones the public was alerted to.” Where is that photo of them putting down their backpacks at the site of the explosions we were promised? Why was the press conference to announce “a suspect” suddenly called off? If it was really because of a bomb threat they would have searched and then “bravely” reconvened the press conference. There are photos of the younger brother climbing out of the boat unarmed and unhurt yet they suddenly claim he has a wound that prevents him from speaking. How convenient! Now they can give statements like, “we planned to wait till the Fourth of July” and ” We were going to do the same thing in NYC.” Proof???? (Why would a terrorist suddenly be so forthcoming? Answer: He would NOT!) No proof needed because it is your trustworthy Police State telling you. Who was that naked man? There is an eye witness who said she saw the police car run over the deceased. You can bet she won’t testify. By the way, feeling sorry for victims does not mean you allow the accused to be railroaded.

      We are a country of extremes. Remember in WW11 we rounded up a whole segment of citizens because they were the same race as our enemies and put them internment camps? Now we are at the other extreme where we can not even look with suspicion at anyone who is in any way, shape, or form like our enemies lest we be called profiling racists.

      Israel’s goal is to protect its citizens and country. Our goal is to always be jumping from one extreme to another in order to create chaos and facilitate the end of the freedom that has set America apart from every other country. You might disagree with that last sentence, but it is a bull’s eye that we have hit over and over and over again with EXTREME accuracy. If it is not a goal, it is a series of very, very lucky shots.

      It is not just in big government that you see this extremism. As a teacher, I saw it over and over again in curriculum, behavior modification, even assemblies. We never went down the balanced path, always jumping from one extreme to another. Haven’t you seen this around you also?

  • aztex2010

    I believe the “media” is the biggest terrorist that has ever existed and is responsible for all the hate that is perpetuated daily. We would surely be far more able to decide the motives behind every criminal act if we were allowed to hear and see SOME proof reported by our Main Stream Media. They manufacture entertainment every day and recently the Supreme Court decided it is OK for them to lie when ever they feel like it, guess if it makes a buck. Reporters read their teleprompter and most do not even have a clue to any of the facts. Ratings and Profit are more important to Media than the truth and far more entertaining and amounts to Propaganda and is used to perpetuate more profit and keep the Military Industrial Complex in Business along with all the other Industrial Complexes including Big Pharma, Health Care and Justice -Civil & Criminal. Used to be called Fraud and there was the truth in advertising and truth in lending and just simply the Truth. As Corporatism and profits have taken over the need for the truth we are loosing the heart of our Country .. the Constitution. What ever happened to the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth? Guess so many people relied on our Courts and people swearing on the Bible and found out the best liars always win. Cheaters, liars and thieves seem to always get ahead .. all we have to do is see how many psychopaths are in Congress and are turning everyone into criminals and terrorists .. and obviously plan on turning a lot more into criminals by the looks of Camp FEMA! Everyone better wake up and start asking a lot more questions least We the People find ourselves on the inside looking out! There is always room for more and when the room gets shy.. there is always those mass grave sites and plastic coffins that hold 10 or more each. Boo Hiss

    • K Bright

      Actually (if you are speaking of corporate media instead of “alternative” – now mainstream – media) they are a cartel and NOT lawful here in the USA.

      Almost 100% of the mainstream media is owned by seven companies: Disney, NewsCorp, TimeWarner, CBS, Viacom, NBCUniversal, and
      Sony. They control everything: movies, television, all the major newspapers and news, and even music record labels.

      When one company dominates an industry, it is a monopoly. When a handful of companies cooperatively dominate an industry, it is a “Cartel.” This is what we have with our mainstream media – an elite group that is
      cooperatively and covertly controlling everything that comes through our
      television, radio, newspaper, and theater.

      Supreme Court, Red Lion v. FCC in 1969: “It is the purpose of the
      First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. That right may not constitutionally be abridged either by Congress or by the FCC.”

      That makes the Head of the FCC and about 3/4 immediate layers beneath traitors to the USA – plus other criminal and civil offenses they can be prosecuted for.

  • Flashy

    “Dishonorable and foolish people claim the existence of terrorism
    essentially gives license for the rest of us to become criminal,
    willfully trampling on individuals’ rights to privacy, property, free
    speech, due process, civic participation, etc.”

    I agree wholeheartedly.

    Consider. … “Dishonorable and foolish” people would complain when the Boston Bomber was given Miranda after 36 hours, and not delayed further. They would protest any move to close Gitmo and give the prisoners civilian trials. They would demand a “terrorist” label be available to apply to someone to give them special status, and remove them from being called a criminal and the stigma associated with that. They would demand that arms and weapons be allowed everywhere, easy to obtain, without restrictions….

    Mr. Smith…you have made an astute and accurate observation.

  • Maynard Runkle

    Brandon Smith, this article is another tour de force. The power structure (the military industrial complex and bankster gangsters and their puppets in government and the mass media) have done a masterful

    job of transferring the RED Menace to Islamaphobia equated with terrorism. Despite their failure in 1993 when they were caught red-handed giving real explosives to Muslim extremists causing six deaths and a half billion dollars of damage when a truck-bomb was exploded in the bowels of the WTC, they have forged on. The public in general is so forgetful and gullible, they let the embarrassing error die down.

    Their next clever ploy: The Incubator Babies Lie to justify the first Gulf War to defend those poor Kuwaitis against another creature of our own fabrication, Saddam Hussein. The Lie got us on board to avenge those tiny dead premies thrown upon the floor by the horrible Iraqis. The fact that this was another propaganda concoction still has not filtered down to the generally befuddled masses.

    Next WACO which desensitized many into thinking it is just fine to immolate women and children, especially if they have a funny religion. Then, the Oklahoma City Bombing. Local news live coverage of bomb squads removing additional bombs did not seem to make much impact. The fact that there was another dark-skinned suspect sought for a while makes me think the Arab terror menace was planned, but somehow could not be pulled off.

    Then the WAR GAMES – which we commonly call 9/11. Bob Livingstone has courageously written here about the “inside job” aspects of this false flag – the most horrendous and successful in history. As Hitler said, if you are going to lie, make it a big one and tell it often. After hearing the same accusations for the trillionth time, no matter how ridiculous, the average barely interested citizen allows them to become an integral part of their world view. Besides,when the facts go beyond a CSI simple explanation, their eyes glaze over and they start searching for the distractions that we call entertainment. This is getting worse. I have told young people facts and their reaction – NO REACTION. It’s as if it’s another of their mind destroying, Zombie-killing video games. The public seems to have no concept of proper investigative and judicial procedures.All the government has to do is point the finger and the public thinks anything goes. Brandon attributes this to the heavy handed way labeling someone a terrorist, under Homeland “Security”, the Patriot Act, and NDAA 2012 automatically removes their right of due process, which is the only way he/she has any chance of proving their innocence. I agree with him.

    On other internet sites I have been overwhelmingly disapproved even for the fact that I point out we must go through the presumption of innocence and due process. The mob mentality has bloggers competing for the prize of “most horrible death suggestion” for the accused whose guilt is highly circumstantial, at best. Mentioning that lack of evidence they start screaming “Alex Jones.” They completely blot out any suggestion that the very government they hate when they have to pay their taxes is the same government they are suddenly, once again, waving the flag for.

    Sad day when this is happening in the US.

  • dan

    ‘If you’re not one of us ,then you’re one of them”is great policy for morons
    but it takes maturity to treat other s with respect: Innocent until proven guilty

    • Nadzieja Batki

      Then what you are saying is that O and his minions working on that policy are morons.
      Maturity has nothing to do with treating people with respect because maturity and respect have nothing to do with the policy of “if you’re not one of us, then you’re one of them”.
      The phrase “innocent until proven guilty” has also been reordered, it is now that you may be guilty until proven innocent, but innocence cannot be proved.

  • Michael Shreve

    MANY people foolishly believe that the police and military will NOT fire on U.S. citizens, yet military commanders are being SCREENED for willingness to do JUST that and our POLICE officers are being trained to fire on children, pregnant women and the elderly.

  • Jeff

    I agree with your article. The :”terrorism” card has been played far too often and easily. The real problem is politics. When John Kerry suggested terrorism presented more of a law enforcement than a military problem, he was trashed for it by the Republicans and a media too willing to go along with the Bush Reign of Error. There are many politicians who know there are things that make sense like de-emphasizing the War on Terror, ending the War on Drugs, closing Gitmo and releasing those prisoners determined to have done nothing, background checks, ending mandatory sentencing laws, etc. But as long as their opponents can portray them as weak on terrorism or weak on crime, it will be difficult to get where we need to go.

  • RevNowWhileWeCan

    “Terrorists” is a term definitely way over used. “Domestic terrorist” is the scary one. Like Brandon says, “They begin to reason that a criminal should be afforded justice, while a terrorist should be afforded only vengeance, even though the act of branding a person a “terrorist” is often completely arbitrary.” As was the case is Boston where people cheered and were happy to let authorities march into their homes and confiscate weapons and whatnot. As a Bostonian, I was saddened and disgusted. Never mind the fact the those boys were patsies and had nothing or very little to do with those bombings.

    Then there’s the Middle East. We are soooo quick to label enemies of Israel/US terrorists even though we are the aggressors as in the case with Palestine. Palestine is and has been being ethnically wiped from the earth. They have no army no navy, no professional killing forces like the IDF and US have but when they try and fight back for their lives because they don’t wear camos and are considered enemies, we call them terrorists. This form of indoctrination MUST change and Israel must be reeled in or the world may suffer consequences it may not be able to recover from.

    Before your indoctrination has you screaming something ignorant like “anti-Semite”, listen to this Israeli IDF veteran. His grandfather signed the Israeli Declaration of Independence and he is the son of a Six Days War General and I think his entrenched perspective should speak volumes.

    • Chester

      One problem with your post. Exactly WHAT was seized from ANY home in Boston after that, yes, terror, attack? The only homes that had anything seized from them were homes the two men(?) in question had occupied. Other homes were searched during the hunt for the second of the two men, but nothing was seized from any of those homes.

    I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and had witnessed many changes, for instance,
    i knew to be on my best behavior when I was at a friend’s house because of the consequences of my actions, as a sign of respect I always addressed grownups as Mr, or Mrs. last name, failure to do so meant correction. Now I see that is no longer done. I attribute that to our politicians worsening behavior.
    They set the example that once shown respect for their position. They haven’t done anything in recent times to earn the respect they once held for their office.
    They have stooped to the mindset of children by calling each other names, and the media insults those who are capable of critical thinking, or better put when we point out common sense that makes politicians look like they are attempting to pull wool over our eyes. They try to sell us they know what is good for our country, when we know they are only ripping us off!
    They forgotten we are their employers, and not the other way around.
    The “silent” majority are silent because the news ignores us. I am hoping we start to change, by Insisting they honor their oath they took to defend and uphold the Constitution as the Law of the land.

    Just completely brilliant analysis. Mr Smith, like the Founding fathers, has a rare and full grasp of the human spirit and the greater struggle between good and evil that all of us participate in. He is no “fool.” He is a prophet.

    Obama’s thug tactics with his orders in using gestapo ways in some bogus search and seizure against now suspected American Citizens of licensed and permitted fire arms. Obama is a Jerk! “Quit Beating A Died Horse” on gun control measures. It’s not working! Obama’s cronies in Congress and have tried, and will be put down again! He go’s against his owned “checks and balances” in his Administration. He doesn’t follow the outline of our U.S. Constitution. He is the worse President. I’ve ever seen an my life. He is unconstitutional.
